If you can brave the west side of Oahu and find your way around Waipahu and are in need of some nourishment such as GARLIC CRISPY FRIED CHICKEN this is the place to come! This is such a quaint little restaurant that is owner operated. The service and staff are very attentive and friendly. You can also BYOB. Our last meal there consisted of the Tom Yum soup, very nice flavors of lemon grass, ginger and kaffir lime leaf. Served with shrimp and black mushrooms. Tasty and satisfying enough to warm your soul on a cold rainy day. We also had the basil chicken(good), but I would highly recommend the egg plant basil chicken instead. The Pad Thai is very good and not too oily like so many other places, nice mild flavors as well. We also had the calamari and spring rolls as appetizers. There are so many things that I want to go back and try... This place will deliver a very satisfying meal and at a reasonable price. I highly recommend it!!

Just the kind of quirky little place a girl who loves Thai loves to love. Sweetie at the counter greetin' and seatin'. Momma in the back shakin' and bakin.' Deliciousness delivered to the table with a smile. Hot diggity damn! Their spicy is spihhhhhhhhicy. Caution! lemon grass soup, delish. panang curry, delish. miso soup, delish. Thai iced tea, delish. Tapioca pudding with bananas. Tapiocalicious. My mother (Little Bigs = Thai neophyte from the midwest, predisposed to disliking anything new and different) seemed to float to the ceiling as she mused about the relaxing ambiance. Waitress exercised rare and shocking flexibility by letting Little Bigs split two different entrees in half and order both. Giddiness ensued. And then she delivered the food. Ahhhh. The food. So good that Little Bigs was left with nothing but complaints about the three other thai places we visited on the rest of our trip. Annoying. But justified. Hop Skip and Jump back to the car, parked right out front in the nasty little strip mall. Pockets still relatively full of cash.

I was in the area so thought i would give this place a try and pick up some thai take out for the family. Garlic chic was not that great. Phad thai was average. Panag Curry pretty good. I dont care for papaya salad but my wife loves it and said it was really good. The guy behind the counter was really friendly and the place looked really clean. I probably have to give this place another try but phuket and other thai places have this one beat.

We had a big birthday party for my husband Curtis at this favorite Thai restaurant on April 8, 2011. Since we were hosting we thought it was best if everyone picked whatever they wanted to eat. So we had a real variety of food, those who wanted to share did and those who didn't did not. We had not been here for years since we left Hawaii late 2004, but I was certainly happy that it is as good as ever. My fave is the Evil Chicken, and Curtis likes the Pad Thai, several people ordered super hot curries and lots of exotic dishes, everyone seemed to have a great time. They were nice enough to let us bring a huge cake and put it in their freezer as it was a ICE cream cake, so good. We made a big deal out of his birthday, candles, singing the whole thing and I hope to get the pix soon to share, others are going to send them to me.

I was craving some thai food and I happen to be in this area, so I decided to stop by. It had been a while since I had visited this place, so I didn't really remember how their food was, so I decided to give it a second try. Usually if a place has great food, I tend to remember the experience, so upon not remembering I feared this place a little bit. The restaurant was pretty empty for this time, with only a small group eating in the corner and the owners daughter picking at her chicken and rice at the other table. (Don't ask why I remember that detail...) I ordered the pad thai and the chicken larb, and an order of summer rolls. The price wasn't terrible, as I am used to thai food being a little pricey. The entire order came out to around $30. The only complaint on the price is the summer rolls. They are $7.95 and the vietnamese restaurant across the street sells them for only $4.95, so it was a little bit of a rip off. The food came pretty quick, only had to wait about 15 mins and the lady at the register was very nice and always checking in the back to see if our food was cooked. They have pretty good customer service here. I brought the food home and was surprised at the quantity of pad thai they had stuffed in the box. It could easily feed 3-4 or 2 very hungry people. :) The only downside was that the pad thai was kind of dry and could have used a little bit more seasoning. It was really bland. The chicken larb lacked the same thing. The summer rolls were fantastic with the wrapper being very fresh and this aspect of the meal kept them at a solid three stars for the entire experience. Overall, not bad, but there are better places for the same price.

GOOD THINGS: Atmosphere was very nice. The Waitresses were very polite. Food looked fantastic. BAD THING: I found a small hair in my sister's pho. EWW!

Nom puts her love for cooking in every bite!! The best pad Thai from a real Thai woman!!! I also would recommend the mu sa mung curry, panang curry, fried calamari and summer rolls!! You can't go wrong with anything from Noms !! Her prices are very reasonable and portion sizes are great!! Her food is also naturally gluten free except for a few items, such as the crab dishes because it is imitation crab. She is well aware of food allergies and concerns and is willing to make dishes custom to order. The best thing about Thai Kitchen is the food is very fresh and the company is always welcoming:)

This place would have gotten a four-star review several years ago when the service was great and the food was also great. I never thought I'd go back until today when a long day of shopping for Halloween costumes prompted the 6-yr old to demand some food. If it weren't for that kid, I would have never went back due to some unpleasant experiences at same location on more than one occasion. Kid - "I want Thai food!" Me - "You don't even know what Thai food is...tell me what it is" Kid - "The rolls. The ones with the garlic and butter on them" Me - "That's not Thai food, that's Bravo's Italian garlic rolls" Kid - "I want Thai food!" Me - "Ok" *grumble* A hungry stomach prompted a stop to Thai Kitchen, never mind my trepidation. I guess starvation has a way of making you go to someplace you never wanted to visit again. The Thai iced coffee came out really fast in a tall glass and it was chilled. I had a suspicion that it was straight out of the can with some regular old coffee blended in to make it taste sorta-fresh. Most Thai restaurants have the Ice Coffee freshly dripping out of the French Press, straight to your table, to make you feel less guilty and justify why you spent almost $4.00 for a coffee drink that will keep you up all night. The Tofu Pad Thai was pretty small for $8.50 and it was rather fishy tasting. Good thing we like fishy stuff. The noodles were mushy and overcooked. Good thing we were hungry. No left-overs here as the portion was pretty petite. The sticker on the door on our way proclaimed that "Yelpers Love Us"...it made me feel bad, but only momentarily, as I let the door hit my butt on the way out.

I am usually in the area to do some grocery shopping, but never went here before. I love Thai food with it's mix of spices. Thankfully, with a groupon I finally went to this place. Ambiance: The lighting in the restaurant is quite dim and the furniture is quite... homely. I know it is vague, but to me it feels like home with Thai food that I have to pay for :P Customer Service: Good, There was only one woman doing all the ordering and serving when I went there. She was very friendly and helpful. Cleanliness: It was clean to what I would expect a hole-in-the-wall restaurant to be. It is defiantly not spotless, but it is clean enough to eat in and not be concerned about my health. Food: The food had a lot of flavor to it and a lot of kick. Even at medium it was HOT! If you do not like hot, then definatly make it a mild. The curry we had and the ginger fish were delicious. The spring rolls we had were chewier than I am used to but tasted great. Value: You get what you paid for. Entree's here are average. If you've been to a thai restaurant on Hawaii you know what to expect. Bottom Line: A good Thai food restaurant. If you want to try someplace new or in the mood for Thai food then stop on by. Just park in the parking lot between Max and Pacific, the parking stalls on the other side (western side) are very tight.

My wife and I came back on our anniversary 4 months after my 1st review and the husband & wife teem that own and run this place remembered us and even what table we set at. I had the evil shrimp again I was going to try the ginger fish but had been craving the evil shrimp since last time. My wife had garlic shrimp. We had spring rolls and sticky rice as well. Our food was excellent we ate it all and did not take any home this time it was so good! We brought a bottle of wine (they don't serve wine but have wine glasses and a opener and encourage you to bring your own) . I just need to go back now and try the ginger fish.

I frequent here because they are so close by and I have really grown to fancy this cute little hole in the wall place. I believe its owned by a couple and the man is really really friendly, and has great customer service. The lady on the other hand is what prevents this bad boy from being a five star. She seems to have her favorite and although I go often is semi rude to me. But the food is so yummy I just cannot stop going back. I enjoy ALL of their chicken dishes, fried chicken, yellow chicken curry, pad thai with chicken, etc etc I LOVE IT!!! Its moist and full of flavor all the time. I have tried other dishes as well but always go back to the chicken dishes. Along with an order of sticky rice of course. Yes it is a little pricey but its quality food so I can't complain :)

GREAT PLACE! The food is great and the prices are reasonable! The Pad Thai was awesome! This is definately one of my favorite Pad Thai recipes next to Thai Village. The Lemon Grass soup is very delicious as well. Had both the Green and Panang Curry; I preferred the Green over the Panang. The spring rolls were extremey crispy and delicious as well. And ofcourse, what's Thai food without good sticky rice... this place as great sticky rice! I also appreciated the service here. It is a family run restaurant. They are very polite, extremely attentive and very hospitable. I always enjoy coming to this place! I would highly recommend it!

I have to say, after reading reviews for this place + trying it for myself, I was disappointed. A girlfriend and I stopped in for lunch. I ordered the shrimp pad thai and she had the chicken pad Thai along with an order of summer rolls. We actually both ordered spring rolls with the intention of having left overs for later (we were attending a conference and coulda used a mini meal on and), but the server declared "two orders for BOTH of you?!?! You girls only need one..." We took the hint that she assumed we shouldn't be eating ANYTHING apparently and out of embarrassment stuck to one order...which was a bummer considering my friend hardly are her "medium" pad thai that was the equivalent of "scorching in hell" (hey! We know Thai spice is hot but this was insane). Noddles were bland, just a few pieces of shrimp and that made me sad. Left me wishing we had of hit up Olay's to-go instead.

Excellent food, excellent service and it doesn't break the bank. What more can you ask for? I've eaten here for lunch with a group of 15 and they were able to seat, serve and get us out of there in perfect time!! I've had dinner here with the family and received the same exceptional service and great tasting food. The spring rolls and pad thai are my favorite. I usually get the sticky rice which is served in a cute little wicker type basket. Last year they downsized and now there's a peanut shop next door so it's a tight squeeze in there now. Other than that, this is a definite winner in my book!

The owners are wonderful and personable. The food is great, atmosphere is friendly and the prices are very reasonable. Have tried most of their items on the menu and have yet to be disappointed. Highly recommend the calamari!

I Think It The Best Thai Food On This Side Of The Island. The Atmosphere Was Great, The Service Was Excellent And The Food Was Phenomenal. We Tried The basil, Green Curry, And Chowfun Noodles. We Dont Have Any Complaints!!! They Dont Sel Alcoholic Beverages So We Ordered Our Food, Took A Short Walk To The Supermarket, Got Some Beer And Came Back, Not Even 5 Minutes Later Our Food Was Served. She Even Put Our Beer In The Fridge So It Would Stay Cold. This Is Now Our Thai Food spot!!!

Still one of my favorites. Had a "reunion" dinner with a friend here and it was just as it always was. The interior seems to be either redecorated or touched up with paint? I'm not sure, but for some reason there was a different feel to the atmosphere. We sat at our usual table by the window, and there was a larger group that arrived that seemed to be new to the place because they had a lot of questions and "adjustments" to items on the menu. The staff was very kind and accommodating to them. We got our regular stuff. Curry and a noodle platter, also I got to try the stuffed chicken wings for the first time. They were pretty good, in they were warm, moist, and seasoned well.

Okay, so tonight I was craving Thai food. One of my to go places is Souvaly Thai Cuisine in Pearl City, but Thai Kitchen got my attention because of the good reviews by yelpers and it was closer to my house. I thought to myself that I should give this place a try, and so I called and ordered a take out on their Garlic Chicken, Basil with shrimp, and Kee Mao Noodles with Beef. The lady on the other end was nice and offered suggestions on what I should order since this was my first time ordering from them. I've lived in Waipahu all my life and by the looks of the outside of this place you'd never think delicious Thai food came out of this unpretentious location. Once, inside I was greeted by the lady that took my order earlier, I went up to her and told her that I had a take out order, paid, took the food and went home as fast as I can. Now on to the food: Garlic Chicken- 3.5, the chicken was moist in the inside and crunchy on the outside. It came with a side of Thai Chili Sauce which was good. The lady on the phone recommended this over their regular boneless fried chicken. I'm giving this a 3.5 because I didn't really taste any garlic, it tasted like regular Thai fried chicken. Kee Mao Noodles w/ beef- 4, aka drunken noodles, this was also very good but not as good as the one at Souvaly, but this is a close contender to theirs. It was chowfun noodles cooked with thai basil, mushrooms, and bamboo shoots. Basil with shriimp-4.5, this was my favorite out of all the three dishes, I guess it's because I love vegetables, but this was indeed good. I could eat this everyday for lunch or dinner with a bowl of hot steamed rice. All in all, this restaurant serves really good Thai food and it's a little cheaper than Souvaly Thai Cuisine. (Souvaly is still my number one choice though, Thai Kitchen is a close runner up).

#37/365 They have some pretty good thai food in the heart of waipahu. On this occasion we got the panang curry with pork and the rad na rice noodles with chicken both for $10.50 each. For the spice level I chose to get it hot because their thai hot is WAY too spicy, too spicy that you cant really enjoy the flavors because you're concentrating on eating through the spice haha. Its good though and I like that their spice levels are actually what its supposed to be. The panang curry comes with peas and the rad na is topped broccoli and a yellow bean sauce "gravy." The only thing I wish is that they put more vegetables in the curry because for the price and amount...ummm a bit too expensive. The waiter is pretty nice and know her regulars as she greeted and talked with a couple of them during our dinner. Overall, a good place to get your thai fix on the west side ;).

  • Jesiree N.

First of all, inside the restaurant looks decent and nice to dine in. The owners are really nice and accommodating. My husband & I ordered the fried chicken & pad Thai with shrimp. They sort of messed up our order by giving us red curry instead of the fried chicken. When we told them of the mistake, they quickly apologized and hurried and brought us the fried chicken and let us keep the red curry. Thank goodness they messed up on our order because the red curry was delicious. The pad Thai was also really tasty and the fried chicken was really good. My husband & I can't believe we never went there before and would definitely eat there again!

I never liked Thai food, until my husband introuduced me to Thai food in California. We never did try Thai food in Hawaii. While He was away in Iraq, I tried Thai Kitchen as a recommendation from my teacher. I was reluctant to try this place without him, because I did not have much experience with Thai food. I ordered a beef pad siew because that was the only thing I knew and liked. My classmates also order papaya salad, lemon grass soup, yellow curry, "evil". It was actually really good and I enjoyed my time here. We came here before my husband deployed to Korea. We had calamari, beef stick (sate), beef pad siew, and chicken yellow curry. It was very good. I loved the beef sate a lot. My husband was disappointed with the pad siew because there was mushroom. Not sure if I can bring my husband back here, but I will come back!

I've eaten at almost every Thai restaurant on the island and this is by far the most legit. I've been going here since I was a kid and love it every time.

This is our favorite place on island to get Thai food and never disappoints. We have tried quite a few things but we always come back to our favorites of Drunken Noodles and Red Curry Chicken. We order it medium on a day we want it to make our noses run and "somewhere between medium and mild" on days when we want just enough spice. The thai tea and sticky rice here is also excellent. We do both take-out and dine-in and although the decor is outdated, it is always clean and were are met with the friendly faces of the owners!

I was again craving Thai food and tried making a take out order at Thai Village in Waipio but the guy put me on hold for far too long. Who puts customers wanting to make a take out order on hold anyway? That bothered me enough to hang up and look for another establishment. The Yelp search function brought me to this restaurant in Waipahu. I called in my order while driving there and the lady on the phone was very pleasant even after repeating myself three times. I was competing with a 10 month old singing in the back seat. I loved the atmosphere as I walked in. I felt as if I walked into a restaurant in Thailand with the decorations they have displayed all over the place. I drove home excited to try out their food. I ordered tofu pad sieu, chicken panang curry, and thai iced tea for approximately $24. My first impression upon opening the bag was that the servings seemed small. I also noticed that the panang curry consisted of peas and chicken pieces. I have never had peas in any panang curry I've ever eaten. There's usually a variety of vegetables but never any peas. It tasted ok. Then I tasted the pad sieu. The noodles were mushy and the bottom of the box was drenched with sauce. But I was utterly disappointed when I took a bite of the tofu. IT TASTED SPOILED! I couldn't believe it and I thought my taste buds were playing tricks on me. So I tried another piece and another and another. I was honestly in denial. I couldn't believe that they would serve spoiled tofu. I'm still shaking my head. *sigh* Would I eat there again? Probably not.

Had been dying to try this place for a few months now. So glad. When we finally mustered the energy to make the trip. Unfortunately, the food wasn't really worth all of the anticipation. We. ordered quite a bit. Even our server looked surprised at how much we ordered! We had: Mee Krob--waytoo sweet, and actually way too large of a portion. No way we could have eaten all of that sugary sticky sweet fried noodle. Spring Rolls--alright, served with lettuce....not fantastic though. Papaya Salad--they offer both Thai and LAO style. Since we came for Thai, it seemed like a ridiculous option. Not good...2 dimensional in its flavor. Definitely had better. Pad Thai--very disappointed in this. It tasted like ketchup! Ewwww! A good Thai spot is only as good as its pad Thai. Yuck! Evil Curry with Chicken--- was decent, a bit bland but the description of it as given by. Our Server made us think it would be more flavorful. Green Curry with Tofu--ok, was the best dish we had. A little. Sweeter than I personally prefer, but it was good. Summer Rolls---liked this too! Overall, the meal was a bit over priced for the quality. $100 including the tip for the outstanding service seemed a little high but the server deserved a great tip! He also earned the extra star on this review. I don't think I will return. I have my favorite Thai spot up in the Mililani Shopping Center anyways.

Much to like in this very small restaurant! The curry dishes are excellent. I especially like the "evil pork" curry. Everything great with sticky rice. The fried calamari is great with the best thing...the beer you can bring in to drink. Newcastle Ale goes great with all of the curry dishes.

Very small place, in a little bit of a "ghetto" looking spot right off Farrington Hwy. Once you walk in the door you feel very welcomed! I had the vegetarian spring rolls and vegetarian lemongrass soup. Both were DELICIOUS. The only thing is I thought their "medium" spice was more like a mild. I'm not sure if they accidentally made it mild or that's just how they do "medium"....so I'm not sure if next time I should try "hot". However, I will DEFINITELY be back. Of all the places I've tried Tom Yum, this is probably my favorite. I'd love to try their curry next time! Service was great. Our server was very courteous and friendly, gave us time to order, checked up on us but not too much. Everything was just great. Highly recommend and will be back.

Was near Koolina and wanted to try somewhere in Kapolei since we are hardly on that side of the island at dinnertime. We were jonesing for Thai food, so we looked on Yelp and decided to try Thai Kitchen. We had the pad thai, pad si-ew, red curry, eggplant basil and sticky rice. Dishes were a little on the pricey side, for the small amount of food given. Everything was okay...nothing I would drive from town out to Kapolei for.

Used the Entertainment book coupon BOGO free, worth $10 off. Friendly service. Ate the pad thai and green curry with sticky rice. It's a must try. Tasty. Though I must say, there were no leftovers. Enough for two people. It just seemed like they gave less because we mentioned the coupon prior to ordering. It wasn't the first time I ate here, so I could tell the difference.Don't think I would have paid $24 full price for the amount of food they gave. Bill came out to $12 for meal for two which is not bad.

Got the Tom yum, pad Thai, curry!!!! Sorry to say but not my choice if I craved Thai food. To be honest the place had a weird scent and the plates were not so clean looking :/. I hate writing reviews like this. They asked if we wanted the tom yum to be spicy and we said yes. We got it and there was absolutely no spice to it. I've experienced way better places.

Today me and my family went here to celebrate my papa's late birthday dinner and my boyfriends early birthday dinner. It was our first time eating here and we never expected the food to be as good as it was and the lady that helped us was so nice. We had 8 of us and we ordered quite a lot & of course my favorite, the Thai iced tea w milk^_^ I was shocked in a good way when I seen that the total was only $99 I'm just glad my money didn't go to waste. I'm definitely gonna be back!!

My family and I would come here so often when I was younger. I totally forgot about this place until my sister and I went to pick up some lemongrass soup. The place reminds me so much of Thailand, which is a great ambiance to eat in haha. They have really good curry and lemongrass soup! They also have this really yummy mushroom and shrimp dish that comes in a white curry. MMM. Everything is family style too btw. I totally forgot what else we usually ordered.. but I remembered everything we tried there to be pretty delicious. The food is a little pricey but I think it's worth it!!

One word: Gross. First sign things were going down hill: empty restaurant. There was only one server who said the family business was turned over to his uncle. NOT a good idea. I've been to Thailand and tried most of the Thai restaurants on the island. Thai Kitchen is at the bottom of the pot. Pad Thai: Oily, slimy, ketchup coated noodles. Coconut Curry with Shrimp and Mushrooms: Eh, what's new? Ginger Fish: This was just downright disgusting. The fish was battered, fried, then soaked in this gelatinous oil mush with ginger on top. The taste and texture just did not go well. Bean Sprout Pork: Can you say Panda Express? Eggplant Salad: Warm salad of eggplant and onions. Skip it. Sticky rice: On par. Just skip it. Bangkok Chef, Souvaly, Pae Thai, anyplace is better.

This is Cora's favorite restaurant and she introduced me to this establishment. Their chicken pho has more sauteed garlic than any other place I've been to. The waiter there told me that he likes to mix ketchup and Sriracha and eat it with his KFC at home. I'll have to try their meals for 2, 3, or 4 one of these days, when I round up enough people.

its a family run, so you get that feeling when eating the food. Great service. Good food. pad see ew-- ok pad thai-- good thai iced tea-- ok portions aren't as big as to what i'm used to at thai restaurants, but if youre sharing food in a group its ok-- unless you're super hungry. the food isn't "OMG AWESOME," but its a nice place for a lunch if you want thai food. i'd come here again.

Me and my gf love this place. It wasn't crowded when we went at around 7 pm on a Thursday. The parking wasn't bad at all but it can be during the day. However, you should be able to find a spot. The first thing I noticed was that the lighting is some what dim and comfortable especially with the fact that they have carpet. The setting is nice and the chairs come with arm rests and are comfortable. The furniture and tables put you in a different place. They even have classes for cooking Thai food Our server was nice and greeted us right when we walked in. She was cool and was always attentive whether we needed water or our food was ready to serve. Tip your server when you come here. This place is very suitable for family style dinners. The food was really really delicious and legit. We ordered Pad Thai, fried rice, sautéed mix vegetables in garlic sauce, and of course we had to try their stuffed chicken wings. Their curries and entrees are set and are custom with the meat you want in them. Just like all Thai joints you have your selection of spice as well. The Pad Thai was delicious and made to perfection. It was chewy and tasty like how it should be. The fried rice was really Ono (delicious). It contains a different grain of rice and it has a very different taste from other fried rice here on the island. Definitely a must have when you eat here. The sautéed mix vegetables were good especially the sauce. Now on to the best part, the stuffed chicken. The stuffed chicken was so awesome. It was crispy, moist and everything you would ever want chicken wings to be. The app comes with this peanut sauce that's house made I'm guessing and there's four pieces. The peanut sauce was very good and the flavor of the chicken and the stuffing was deeeeeelicious. Hands down this place is a must go to. I can't believe I've passed by this place many times even though I come to waipahu everyday. In comparison with other hole in the wall restaurants, this place is a rank 1 in my books.

Solid tasty Thai food at an affordable price. This place has been around for years and the owners take great pride in their restaurant. The food is authentic. It's just like you'd get in the restaurants in Thailand. It's also byob, so bring a few of your favorite beers to wash down the tasty fare. A solid four stars.

One of our favorite Thai restaurants is a little place off Farrington Hwy in Waipahu nestled in a strip mall that's a little sketchy. I've never had problems here but there can be several people handing around since there is also a laundromat in the same strip mall. Don't let the location scare you off, step through the doors of Thai Kitchen and you will be welcomed warmly by the owner Nom. Looks like the restaurant has many regulars as she often spends time chatting with the diners. Food: Excellent food, not much else to say. The spring rolls are good but different from the normal egg roll type you get elsewhere. We also normally order the Lisa Special Salad which I think is named after Nom's sister. The salad is topped with light crispy fried noodles that have the texture of air but add a delicate crunch to the dish. We've also gone with the drunken noodles instead of the pad thai recently. Drunken noodles are wider with a chewy texture that is just delish. I can also recommend the Mus Sa Mun Curry, since we decided to try something other than Panang or Green curry that we normally order. Every dish can be made vegetarian with tofu which is a great option for those going the non meat path. They are also BYOB and will provide you with wine glasses if you bring your own bottle. We brought in a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc which pairs well with Thai food. Service: Whenever we go on the weekends, we only see Nom but she runs a tight ship. Customers aren't left waiting, order taking quickly, dishes served steaming hot straight from the kitchen. Great service and a family atmosphere. Atmosphere: Cozy place tucked into the strip mall, you can't really see it from the street. Take a chance, drive to Waipahu, marvel at the rail construction, and try this place out! Once you step into the establishment itself, it's like a different world from just a few steps outside..classic case of don't judge a book by it's cover. Overall: Great place, great food, great people.

The Thai Kitchen is my absolute favorite Thai restaurant anywhere! We've tried the others on Oahu and there's no comparison. It's true, authentic Thai. Nom Akamine, the owner, is from Thailand and is an awesome cook. All meals at made to order and served hot and delicious. Because it's a BYOB (no corkage fees either), you can bring your favorite wine or beer too! Try a non-alcoholic Thai Iced Tea or Thai Coffee. Both are so yummy! Everything on the menu is fantastic and so delicious that no matter what you order, you can't go wrong. Trust me, I've probably been here over 50 times! The curry dishes are unbelievably tasty and you can choose with fish, shrimp, chicken, pork, beef or vegetarian. All of the dishes are really fresh. For appetizers (pupus), the Coconut Ginger Soup with chicken is THE BEST, as well as the Spring Rolls! Be sure to save a little room for dessert and try the Ubu (purple Okinawan sweet potato) Ice Cream with hot Tapioca over top. OMG, amazing & I never cared for Tapioca before coming here! They are open for lunch and dinner but closed on Sundays (except Father's Day 6/21/2015 they will be open). Try the Thai Kitchen now or take Dad for Father's Day and you'll be sending me Mahalos later

The Pad Thai was o.k, but only because I needed a gluten free version; however, I made pad thai at home using tamari (wheat free soy sauce). I did not enjoy the flavor, but the owner is such a sweet lady. I enjoyed the fried spring rolls, and of course the meal was better sharing it with a homie who keeps the meal entertaining. Little hole in the wall, with gluten free options--I will go back.

Had a Thai craving & I thought... Hmm let me go to Thai Kitchen since I haven't been since 2010! Arrived around lunch time & the spot was dim & empty aside from the women who work here (they were seated to enjoy their lunches). Really liked that they still greeted me & stood up to grab me a menu so that I could make my take-out order. I waited for my order to be completed for about 15 minutes, which felt like forever cause I wanted some action. World Cup action :P Went with my regular Thai staples: chicken panang curry, beef fried rice, & chicken padsiew (spellcheck, please. Sorry!). And let me tell you... Everything was spot on! The panang was so flavorful with the right amount of heat & coconut milk. Just how I like it... Mmmm. The fried rice was plentiful, flavorful, & cooked to perfection. The noodles were great as well, but it just looked like there wasn't enough of it (lol). I also ordered tapioca pudding, but with two platefuls of food, I can't even attempt to try it. I probably should have waited to complete my review, but I was just too excited! Three hours later: Devoured the tapioca with apple bananas!!!! Well, my mom kinda devoured most of it, but the last 1/3 was mine! All mine & it was my favorite tapioca pudding EVER! Will definitely be back for more. Good food for decent prices. People might complain that it's in a "sketchy" area in Waipahu (near pacific supermarket), but really... Just don't bother anyone & chances are no one will bother you.

I'm not sure what had happened here. It's definitely not the same from how I remembered. The stuffed chicken wasn't crispy, the pad Thai lacked flavor and $26+ for two dishes!? Talk about inflation!!! Probably won't come back.

We came here for a birthday dinner, and had a great time with great good. This place has been our family favorite for Thai food for over 20 years. Highly recommended!

Thai Kitchen has been one of my family's favorite restaurants for many, many years. Prices are reasonable and food is amazing! We typically order Vegetarian Spring Rolls, Thai Crispy Noodles, Chicken Satay, Pineapple Shrimp Curry and Thai Sticky Rice. Those are the family defaults. I like to try new things so I'll throw in somethings like Yellow Curry or Evil Beef. My wife and daughter love the Thai Iced Tea. We've never been disappointed. The food is always served hot. The flavors are amazing. About the only complaint we've had is that extra-mild can still be kind of spicy but, hey, it's a Thai restaurant! Yes, it's a little hole in the wall that's not in the best part of the island, but it's worth the drive. Thai Kitchen is certainly on a par, if not better, than the really expensive Thai restaurants in downtown Honolulu. This is a place that you shouldn't miss.

This is my favorite Thai restaurant! I tried other Thai restaurants and that was a horrible mistake because once you have the food here nothing else can compare! The parking is good since the restaurant is located in a plaza there are usually plenty of spaces. The restaurant from the outside doesn't look like much but it's what's in the inside that counts! We started our dinner with an order of vegetarian spring rolls and chicken satay. We did not have to wait very long; we waited about 10-15 minutes for our appetizers to come out. The spring rolls come with dressing, lettuce, cucumber and mint leaves so you can wrap them Thai style which was so yummy! Next the chicken satay was grilled to perfection and served with peanut satay sauce. So very, and I mean VERY excellent!! We ordered our meals next and I ordered the Ma sum mun curry with chicken. I will actually crave this curry after a few weeks of not eating it; it's that good!! This particular curry comes with potatoes, carrots and peanuts. I ordered the sticky rice to go with the curry. Next my husband will either order the chicken pad Thai or the yellow curry. I have tasted both of them and again they are both delicious!! He orders the white rice with his curry. My son was with us and he ordered the papaya salad. My son ordered it mild since he is not into spicy foods. Well this time his salad came out spicy. The owner was asking how everything was and I told her that the salad was made too spicy. She said "Well I will have a new made immediately", which was awesome. She promptly came back with the corrected dish. Of course we are full after eating such a delicious meal but we always have room for the Ãœbe ice cream. So nice and cool after an amazing meal! We love this restaurant and are always treated so well by the staff and owner. There is no alcohol here but you can bring your own bottle (BYOB). They will even bring you the proper glassware. Also you can order your food for takeout, which we have done on several occasions. The food is always hot and fresh. This is the place I have my hubby pick up for me when I'm under the weather! Great food and reasonable prices you just can't go wrong ordering from Thai Kitchen!

Overall theme: Yay! Most Thai restaurants never take me seriously when I ask for Thai hot. Thai kitchen is not most restaurants. The aunty (pretty sure the owner) gave me a Pad Thai that made me see stars...exactly what I wanted. And for that reason I've been back three or four times now since we found the place. Aunty's food is fresh and the dining area is cozy. So far everything I've had (Green and Yellow curries, the Pad Thai, and the fried rice to name a few) has been excellent. The Thai ice tea is also good. Oh and for some reason the brown rice is heaven. I don't understand it! It's just plain brown rice for goodness sake! But delicious enough I just want to eat a big bowl. I hope we will get to the point she will greet us like she greets her other regulars, but for now the service is pretty okay and the food grand so I will keep coming back!

Ordered the Panang curry (4 stars) and pad kee Mao (-1 star). The pad kee Mao noodles were not what I expected. Panda Express makes something like this way better. The veggies were terribly chopped and most of it tasted like it was from a can. Rice doesn't come with the curry (as with many thai places) but for $2.50 a serving its a bit steep. Overall, I would stick with the curries and forgo noodles

I used to go all the way to Kapolei when I wanted some Thai, but now that I've tried Thai Kitchen, it's my go-to place. It's closer for me, food is just as good as my other favorite location (presentation - not quite as pretty), and pricing about the same.

My wife and I go here at least once a week. I've been to Thailand many times and ate nothing but Thai food for several years. This is the most authentic food that I have found on Oahu. The papaya salad and minced pork are the best!

Definitely my favorite restaurant to go to for Thai food! There is usually only one waitress who's always working the floor - & with only a few table-tops, it doesn't slow business down at all. I absolutely adore her sweet personality and always enjoy her great service! Their food is also very authentic and delicious, and thankfully I've never had to wait more than 10-15 minutes 'til the food gets to the table :) All in all, I love this restaurant all around and would most definitely recommend it to anyone looking for some great Thai eats!

Thai Kitchen is my go to spot when I don't feel like making my way into town just to fulfill my Thai food cravings. Tucked away in Waipahu near a laundromat and behind a 7-11, this little gem is definitely hidden away. If it weren't for Yelp so many visits ago, I think I wouldn't have found this place or even thought to give it a try. The parking lot outside of the restaurant is ALWAYS busy for some reason, but I've always managed to find a spot some way or another. The garlic boneless chicken is a MUST get! So good, along with the stuffed chicken wings. I also normally order the yellow curry with chicken, an order of sticky rice, beef pad siew, and the "evil" shrimp. At first glance the portions seem a little small, but are way more than generous! My only complaint is that I'm a little bit of a curry fan, and while I order it all the time, the yellow curry does leave a bit to be desired. The consistency of the curry here is much less dense, and more soupy--I wish the veggies and chicken were bigger. I'll still order it though, because I've gotta have my curry! Haha! Doing takeout here is a total breeze. Calling in an order only takes about 20 minutes, and when you're there to pick up, everything is tucked away and ready for you to take home and enjoy. Definitely love this place, I'll be back when craving hits!

Love this little place. The owner was gluten-free for a while so she is really knowledgable about what you can / can't eat. I was able to have some bomb ass spring rolls (fried alone) and spring rolls. Everything was really good. Great service! #Gluten-Free

Little Thai restaurant tucked away in a small strip mall. I would've never stopped her but a coworker told me it's pretty good. I had the pad thai and it was pretty good. Spring rolls were delicious and service was on par. I'd definitely come back again. Prices are pretty typical of a Thai sit down restaurant.

The chefs name is Nom and I can't help but say her restaurant is definitely nom nom nom! She is super friendly and everything comes out quick. Good selection and generous portions. Well priced for what you get! All of the dishes were similar to what we got in Thailand and brought back good memories.

Really positive and homey atmosphere when you come here! Their food is amazing and their services is exceptional! The only downfall of this place is that it's hardly busy, this restaurant exemplifies great Thai cuisine (for me personally.)

This lttle Thai restaurant in a small strip mall is amazing! When we first walked in I was a bit taken back with the dim lighting and decor. Looks a bit old, but the food is what counts! It was amazing! The owner Nom is also very friendly! We ordered pad thai, Panang curry, spring rolls, fried chicken and Thai coffee! Everything was delicious, but the chicken was the best I've tasted on the island! My eyeballs literally rolled back!!! Highly recommend!!!

The décor of Thai Kitchen may be a bit down to earth but the food and service is outstanding. This would be the place to go for Thai food on westside although it is a little hard to find so call for driving instructions first. Always try the spring rolls and if undecided on the main course, try one of their outstanding curries with the sticky rice on the side. Also, I like them because it is BYOB so you can bring your own bottle of wine. They supply the glasses and wine opener with no fuss. The prices are reasonable.

Service was great. We were seated immediately as soon as we walked in. The place was nice and cozy. We ordered the chili fried rice with beef and pad thai noodles with chicken. The chili fried rice was spicy with just the right amount of kick and very well seasoned with spices. The chicken pad thai was okay. It was a tad too sweet for me, other then that it was very well flavored. Can't wait to try their curries and larb next time around.

Come here for their vegetarian meal. The garlic tofu curry is out of this world. Sooo goooooooooooodddddd!!! Their spring rolls vegetarian spring rolls are good too. Deep fried tofu is a must. Also, their crispy fried noodles is is good. It's sweet and yummy.

Amazing restaurant. The owners are very nice. The Evil Chicken is my favorite with chicken fried rice on the side. Only thing that could make it better would be if they had a beer and wine list.

You can't find too many thai restaurants out in Waipahu, but right on Farrington highway, this family owned hole in the wall makes pretty tasty, but more on the salty side thai food. We had the groupon, so the bill wasn't so high, and it was really nice eating at this quaint restaurant: Panang curry - 4 stars - ingredients blended well together, especially with sticky rice. It's a little pricier than other thai restaurants for the amount of food, but it's very tasty with peas in their curry. Pad Thai - 4 stars - very flavorful, but a bit more salty with fish sauce than other restaurants. Goes good with the sticky rice. Eggplant Stirfry - 4 stars - pretty tasty, but a little salty with basil and choice of beef, chicken or pork. Service - 5 stars- the owner was very friendly and personable, being both waitress and cashier all by herself, and our waters were filled. I give her a lot of credit for working hard by herself. Although the restaurant is quiet, it's very kid friendly, especially with kids like mine. I'd go here again even without the groupon for take out if I'm craving thai food because there's not many thai restaurants out on the Leeward side.

We just stopped in on this place by chance. The food is unbelievable and the people working here were very helpful and friendly. I couldn't stop saying "this is soooo good!" after every single bite. We had the chicken "drunken noodle" and the ginger pork with green beans, both medium spicy. Can't wait to come back again!

Their Thai iced coffee hits the spot on a sunny afternoon! If you like Thai hot, they can definitely make it on any of their dishes. Just ask. This was the closest Thai place when I was in Waipahu dropping off some car parts. Their dishes are consistent and portions match the prices. This is not a fancy place. It's definitely casual.

Our favorite Thai restaurant on Oahu, just shy of Maile's in Hawaii Kai. Nom is a wonderful cook/hostess and the food is incredible. I am partial to her spring rolls and the red Thai curry with fish. The fish melts in your mouth and the spices explode along with just the right amount of heat. I would eat here every night if I could. Only wish it were closer to Pearl Harbor. It's also BYOB!

Thai Kitchen is a hole-in-the-wall restaurant, in a hole-in-the-wall strip mall, in a... well, let's just leave it at that. I did like the food. It was very tasty. We asked for spicy hot, and we got spicy hot! The Pineapple Curry with Shrimp packed a powerful pleasing punch! It was a bit too much for my daughter. She very uncharacteristically left a shrimp on her plate because it was "too spicy." The Pad Thai was pretty tasty too. The noodles clumped together a little, but that did not deter me. My only real complaint about the food was that the serving sizes seemed somewhat small. The service was slow and inconsistent. I had to ask for things twice and they were slow to come. Every time the waitress came to our table, she apologized for making us wait even if she hadn't. But, she usually had. Even though I liked the food, I doubt I'll return to Thai Kitchen. However, if I find myself in Waipahu in need of Thai take-out, I would. But I also doubt that will happen. By the way... You can rest easy... I ate the "too spicy" shrimp.

My mom decided that she wanted to use her Groupons on Friday evening, so we drove over toward Pacific Supermarket to go to Thai Kitchen. There was actually a lot of parking despite the fact that a lot of people normally do laundry there in the evening. The decor inside was very quaint, and it was a small area. It is also very quiet inside, and it feels very homey. We started of with the spring rolls for an appetizer, and that came out really quickly. I love spring rolls, and I love the sauce that comes with spring rolls. However, you MUST come all the way to Waipahu to try their peanut sauce that goes with the spring rolls. It's not as tangy is the sauce usually is, and it's a lot thicker. I loved it. The spring rolls were lighter, and it didn't feel like I was eating a ton of oil when I took a bite. My mom and I decided that the next time we come here, we're definitely getting this again. It comes with 6 pieces. It took me two bites to eat one piece ... and it's about $8.50 The fried calamari was also very good. It was sitting on a bed of light little mini won tons or something. My mom ate them and with her mouth full she said: "It's like I'm eating air." But the calamari was good, as well. They were in bite-sized pieces that weren't too chewy or too oily. This appetizer is very filling because they give so much in it. It's definitely worth trying out. My mom got an eggplant salad to eat, and we didn't even know you could order your salad mild, medium, or hot. But we opted for the mild because we wanted to enjoy our food rather than be dying and gasping for milk. But her eggplant soup was very good. It had a strong taste, and it was a heavier meal than mine. But the eggplant was cooked perfectly, and the cucumbers absorbed a lot of flavor. House Yum salad. This was my meal. I've never had a hot salad like this, but the temperature was perfect. I liked the fact that it comes with shrimp, calamari, and chicken. The taste in my salad was lighter, and it wasn't as filling as the eggplant salad was ... but the flavor was all there. It comes with a ton of mint and cilantro. I would definitely get this again, but next time I go I'm going to get a curry. The house fried rice. The only reason why I don't give them 5 stars out of 5. It was good, but there wasn't any real taste. The only taste came from the pineapple pieces that were hidden within the mountain of fried rice. It was a nice compliment as a starch for our salads, but I was looking forward to eating it by itself at home. All of their other food had so much flavor, so I'm thinking that the fried rice might have been a fluke. But, it's a lot of food. This is our take home container of fried rice. I think we ordered too much food, and we barely touched the rice. But, the lady said that it tastes better on the second day, so we'll see if that's true. If not, I'll just eat it with the left overs I have in the fridge.
