Finally tried this place today and I was pleased not only with their great customer service but great tasting food! Tried their longanisa fried rice and it satisfied my hunger! We also tried their won ton mein , pork adobo and hamburger steak let me just say all dishes did not disappoint! Gonna make it back with the hubs to try their deep fried banana bread dessert!!

Best mac-salad I've had. I got the guava bbq chicken, only one piece of chicken but it was good. Nice and juice not over cook, with mixed veggies. Over all a great lunch plate

Got to try a bunch of different stuff today at Elle's and everything was great! The owners/operators Richard and Elle are super friendly and eager to help you, which can't be said of many places now days. The hamburger steak was classic local style and you can tell they use good beef. I'm a Mac salad snob and am usually disappointed with a lot of local plate lunch places but Elle's Mac salad was on point! Not too much mayo but plenty taste. Also had the wonton mein which was on special today and it was awesome! Lots of homemade wontons and they don't skip on any of the garnishes. Also the soup and noodles tasted very very fresh. Also had the fried banana bread was OUTSTANDING! Can wait to drive out to Waipahu again to try some other menu items. I saw they have a adobo loco moco and a ramen burger on the menu which will be the next things I try for sure.

First time here and to a surprise...breakfast was pretty good! I ordered the Longanisa fried rice. That was Awesome! My husband ordered the Pork Cutlet. Not to his liking. Cutlet gravy really thin. Overall...I'll be back to again.

Great tasting food, but small portions... Stopped by to get a quick lunch and see what replaced the old Shiro's Saimin Stand. Trying to be healthy so I ordered a guava bbq chicken with brown rice plate. My friend ordered a mini korean chicken. I was about to change mines to a mini too, but thought, nah, I'll just save the leftovers for later if I can't finish. It's a good thing I didn't change my order... The food came out and the mini was embarrassingly small. I ended up giving my friend some of my chicken because there was only a tiny scoop of rice and three sad pieces of chicken. The food tastes really great though! I'll probably get that guava bbq chicken again, but maybe just do take out. There's construction going on right now in the empty lot between the cafe and the bank so there's dust and noise everywhere. All outdoor seating. The breakfast menu looks really good, so I'll have to come by in the morning and check that out too.

I got the mushroom burger with bacon added. I consider myself a dude in search for the best burgers in the world and this place's burger was not bad at all. My only request would be more beef in the patty because it was a tad on the small side. For the price...a bigger patty would have brought a bigger smile to my face. :-) Nice taste but I would enjoy a bigger burger. Support local? I'd come back and support this fine establishment in the future.

Stopped by to have lunch at Shiro's, only to find out that they have shut down this location. Elle's Corner Cafe is an adequate replacement. Located on the corner of Farrington Highway and Waipahu Depot Road, there's plenty of parking here. Although nominally a Filipino-themed quick service restaurant, the owner is still experimenting with the menu. As a result, no take out menus are available yet, and the menu boards are written out in dry erase markers. Tried the BBQ Guava Chicken plate. It comes with rice, tossed or mac salad, and a small cup of Kim chee. The chicken was moist and well cooked, but the guava flavor was lacking, and completely overwhelmed by the Kim chee. Best thing I tried was the banana bread - deep fried, with nice crunch outside and chewy, classic banana bread flavor inside.

  • Kimmy G.

Best local and Filipino comfort food restaurant in Waipahu!! The owners are super friendly and are always coming up with amazing additions to the menu. The fried cake battered banana bread is a must!

  • Kim D.

We were searching around for a place to get a good loco moco. After searching Yelp, we decided to give this place a try. The rice was stale, the patty was tough, and the gravy had a lot of ginger flavoring in it. For once, yelpers got it wrong.

    (1)
  • Jason S.

Ordered the adobo plate which was salty, fatty and too much gravy. Serving Adobo in Waipahu should always be on point. Portion a little questionable for the price. Overall, don't think I'd be back. So much other places in this area to check out.

  • Headbanger K.

One egg, one skinny patty and gravy and rice for $6.75? Kinda steep in my opinion, at least throw in an extra egg. Taste was as compareable to 7-11s loco moco.

My boyfriend and I finally decided to have breakfast (well brunch) here, and it was pretty great. We went around 11:30 and there was a lot of traffic in the parking lot but we made it and found parking. There was a good selection of things to try, but my boyfriend is a sucker for loco mocos, so of course he had to try the pork adobo loco moco (with fried rice), as well as a side of Portuguese sausage, and I decided on fried rice and a side of corned beef hash. The service was excellent, the cashier was so sweet my boyfriend was actually really happy with how friendly and excellent the service was. After paying, we sat and waited a bit and she brought us out our food, again, super nice. My boyfriend loved his loco moco, said it was one of the best pork adobos he's had. The fried rice I had was pretty good, it was a little buttery for my taste, but who doesn't like butter ? (*insert mean girls quote* Is butter a carb ?) The corned beef hash was pretty good, I liked the crispiness of the hash and the delicious real corned beef in it. Overall, we left full, and happy, I definitely think we'll be back again soon.

It was my first time giving this place a try and I ordered the garlic fried rice. It isn't worth 6.50.

  • Sherrie V.

I'm very picky with food and atmosphere and I really don't like eating outside but the food and service here compensate for not having an "indoor" restaurant! The donut breakfast sandwich is the thing to try if you like sweet and savory all at the same time. It looked to be the owners taking the orders and the lady was super sweet and even gave us complimentary banana lumpia to try. Prices were great and the menu had a variety of items. Check this place out!!

  • Ululani C.

Located in the heart of Waipahu, where the old Shiro's was. The owners cleaned up the place good. Food was great.,. But I think its not worth the price for amount of food you get.

Was going to eat at Rocky's but they told me they were closing in a half an hour, and only take cash, so I decided to take my business elsewhere. Elle's just opened in January. They specialize in local favs with fresh local produce and serve breakfast late. Elle the owner is a sweetheart.

  • Synnora B.

I know you parents out there know what it means to be so tired that your brain shuts off. Well, luckily for me I didn't need it. Ellie looked at me staring vacantly at the sign and offered help deciding. I just told her to make me anything and id be happy. She made me banana pancakes and they were exactly what I needed. Also, I think they were the cheapest things on the menu at 2.99 so she didn't try and rip me off by making me the most expensive thing. My husband and son ordered breakfast sandwiches and loved them. The only change on the sandwich would be to use real cheese not velveeta. The coffee was amazing and free refills. It was clean and the people were really nice.

  • Monika P.

Ordered the $4 bacon egg breakfast sandwich and was just mediocre. Expected a nice family owned restaurant but the service was just ok. Probably known for other items on the menu. The woman taking orders at the counter gave me a bad taste in my mouth. And there was some passed out person on one of her tables. Not sure I will come back.

After buying some vegetables & such from the nearby marketplace, my Mom & I decided to try Elle's out. We got there around 1145am & by that time, they were out of the doughnut sandwiches that I really wanted to get my hands on & well... Eat. We ended up ordering fried noodles. The noodles were a tad under seasoned, oily, & for the price, I thought maybe we would get a little more. This was actually a recurring thought of mine with all the plates we bought (garlic shrimp & korean fried chicken). Maybe an additional one or two pieces of shrimp and chicken would have been perfect. I say this because the rice to meat ratio was off. I had 1 scoop (out of two) left & I usually polish off my whole plate (don't judge!). Before I forget though, the taste of both the garlic shrimp & korean fried chicken was delish! I give Elle's a 3.75-star review (just to clarify). Parking can get crazy, especially in the AM (everyday) cause that's when the marketplace is poppin. Anyway, I will probably return to try something new (they have a wide selection to choose from) & since they're new, I'm sure they will continue to work on establishing themselves as a great eatery in Waipahu (Oahu & statewide too).

  • Suwanna K.

Wow....soooooo Good. The chicken adobo loco moco was fantastic! When we were at the window to order, the nice lady behind the window (who turned out to be Elle) said it is her mom's recipe! We also ordered the ramen burger. It is a good thing I don't live close by as that burger was so hot, delicious and satisfying! The quality of the beef was self evident in the taste. The owner was so friendly and split the ramen soup order for our girls. We also received complimentary dessert which was like a deep fried banana bread. You need to come try and you won't be disappointed!

  • Jenel O.

I had the longanisa fried rice here (vinegar version) - it was good and tasty but a little oily. Elle's is on Waipahu Depot Road, I think in the old Shiro's. It's a little takeout window connected to a covered seating area (maybe 8-10 tables or so). I would come back here again for the friend rice or try other dishes. Parking on the street or I think they have a few stalls in the back.

    (4)
  • Divina R.

Their food is extremely oily. The fried rice adobo loco was drenched on oil. I couldn't even finish it. I've also tried the ramen burger. Thought that was eh or so so as well. I did go when it just opened or after 1 month of opening so, not sure if they've improved.

    (3)
  • Joyce A.

Everything was great, and reasonably priced, anything on the menu can be made into a combo plate. One of the best hamburger steaks I've had in a while. Banana bread was a little oily, but delicious all the same

  • Sharon M.

Wanted to try out my hubby's cousins joint forever and it's just down the road. Finally did and ordered something for breakfast: corn beef hash with fried rice which my son just loved and pork adobo loco moco, genius! We are definitely coming back to try out the rest of the menu. Please go check out Elle's Cafe.

In town for a week vacation and got off the freeway due to heavy traffic. We just wanted a quick breakfast and found this gem. Pork Adobe loco mock was really good. The fried banana bread with vanilla ice cream, had us wanting more. It also prompted the yelp review. Its not on the menu, so you have to ask.

  • Aaron G.

This is my first review on Yelp....and I have to say, this place was awesome! Food was delicious! My fiancé had the Adobo Omelette, first time we have had a fried rice omelette and it definitely did not disappoint. I had the Adobo pork Loco Moco, and it was also amazing. To top is all off they brought us out to separate homemade breakfast pastry's for us to try, and they were incredible. The atmosphere here is awesome, it definitely has a local feel, and the staff was incredibly nice. Should definitely make the stop to come here. Thank you Elle's Corner!

4.5 stars! Ramen Burger - I've only tried three different ramen burgers in my life but I must say that this one was the BEST! The patty was flavorful, there was a fried egg, the ramen was cooked perfectly and there was a sauce to tie it all together. Sweet Longanisa Fried Rice - I mean where else can you find this dish? I freaking LOVE sweet longanisa. It's my absolute favorite sausage in the world! The fried rice was good but I thought it would've been 10x better with an egg on top! Maybe ask for an over easy egg on top... Yep, that's what I'm gonna do next time I order it. The fried rice itself had the crumbled sausage, rice and onions/green onions so it was definitely missing something. Lechon Kewali Fried Rice - My hubby ordered this. Think chopped up Lechon Kewali over rice. I like that they offer this dish but it wasn't anything extraordinary. Deep fried Banana Bread - Ho-Lee-Macaroni-Batman!!! Do NOT pass up on this! In fact, you might just wanna start with dessert so you can eat it fresh out of the fryer while it's still crispy and hot! It came with a vanilla/caramelish dipping sauce and it was worth a blood sugar spike for any diabetic! The banana bread inside was just meh but when you fry that shit up in some awesome batter and add some powder sugar on it and dip it into the sauce, it turns meh into Mehhhhkkkk me stop eating this please!!!! I think it comes ala mode too.... Just when you thought it could it get any better!

We were in Waipahu around lunchtime so we yelped this place. Decided to try it since it had lots of stars. What a find! It's a small place on Waipahu Depot Rd, about a block in from Kam Hwy. Across Kam highway is the Toyota and Chrysler car dealership if you're looking for a landmark. We found parking on the street but then we realized we could've gone into the Waipahu Festival Marketplace parking lot which is in the back of the place. Oh well, next time! Anyway, they had lots of items on the menu but what caught my eye was the soft shell crab fried rice! Ordered that and the mini BBQ Guava Chicken plate. Came with scoop rice, greens, mac salad and 1 piece of chicken-only $6.50. share. Both were served on real plates and utensils! The fried rice had bits of soft shell crab in it-tasty. It was enough for me and hubby to share. The Guava chicken had a nice sweet glaze, not too salty. The other yelpers had wrote about the Cake Battered Banana Bread so we got an order of that too. It's made to order. Boy oh boy! The banana bread was battered and deep fried and then sprinkled with powdered sugar. Dang, it was good. It's not something you could eat often (unless you want to give some cardiologist business) but it sure can be addicting! There were other items we wanted to try but there were only 2 of us. Our plan is to come with more people so we can try the other dishes. The owner was very nice and friendly. Not a very big place but it's very ambitious with the food. We are definitely coming Back! I did see it will be closed on Tues come June 1, so note that.

This place is brand new, and conveniently on the corner of Farrington hwy and waipahu depot street. It's a quick order, grab and go, or sit down and enjoy kind of place. Right away you can see the prices are more than reasonable and there are authentic options on the menu. For brunch this morning I ordered the doughnut breakfast sandwich! Two home made doughnuts, cut ham, and an over medium egg makes this one of the most delicious breakfast sandwiches I've ever had!!! My friends ordered the garlic fried rice, and the spicy chicken wings. The portions were great! Lots of rice and eight large chicken wings. Both had great flavor!! The chicken wings weren't very spicy though, like a mild buffalo. I can't wait to come back and try more things on the menu!!

  • Fred B.

Cheap eats and good!! If your waiting for your car being serviced at Servco across the street, you should definitely check this place out. I ordered the pork adobo and the bugga was mean! I order and make my own pork adobo all the time but have never tasted adobo like this before. It's like regular adobo but with brown gravy I think... I saw adobo locomoco on the menu and wasn't too sure how that would be, so I just ordered the regular adobo plate. But now that I know, definitely trying it locomoco style next time. Friendly staff (owner/owners? Idk)! I had a sore stomach emergency if you know what I mean, and THANK GOD they let me use their restroom. I was doubtful they had one being such a small place, or even that they'd let even let me use it if they did.

My husband and I went there for lunch today. 1)We shared a ramen burger- yum! The noodle buns were sooo good-al dente noodles grilled to give crunchy crust when you bite in. Fried egg completed the burger. -5 stars all the way! 2)Pork adobo loco moco- yum! Huge portion. You got to go and try. -4.5 stars. I could have given 5 stars if it came with a side of kimchi. Kimchi! Yes! 3)Won ton saimin - lots of good broth but not enough noodles or other solid ingredients to fill up my husband's hungry stomach. -3.5 stars The owners and staff are super friendly. We will be back to try other stuff.

  • Kehau B.

I ordered the Pork Adobo omelet it was very tasty and good portion. The fried banana bread with caramel dipping sauce...Yummy!! I also tried their homemade doughnut with cream filling, it was delicious! Customer service was awesome!! Hard to find now a days. While ordering I looked in side were food was being prepared and everything looked very clean. Outside tables were also clean. I definitely will be returning to try other menu items.

Else's Corner Cafe is a new kid on the 94-Block bringing some yummy food to the table. If you don't keep your eyes open you might miss it but for those of you who may not know, Elle's is in the spot where the old Shiro's in Waipahu used to be. I will say that I am a creature of habit, so I usually get the Pork Cutlet or Korean Chicken... both are always tasty! Once you've had your meal, whether it is a plate lunch or breakfast (since it is served all day), YOU MUST indulge by capping it off with the Fried Banana Bread & add a scoop of vanilla ice cream, which is of great value given the price. Give Elle's a try, you never know what daily special they may have when you go :)

Ramen burger... Good. Spam musubi made to order... Delicious. Guava Chicken with Fried Rice... Juicy! We stumbled on to this place after visiting an awesome urgent care right across the street (Ekahi). The ramen burger was pretty good considering I've never had one before. It's basically a cheeseburger with fried ramen noodles for buns. Maybe if it had a spicy mayo sauce, it could have been better. I'm going to try to come back to this place again and try their fried banana bread and ice cream for dessert.

I brought my Mom, my sister and my very picky eating 2 year old to try this place. The pictures from the other Yelpers sold me. We ordered the Longanisa Fried Rice, Breakfast Donut Sandwich, Cake Batter fried Banana Bread ala mode and the Adobo Loco Moco. The lady at the counter was so friendly, so helpful and she brought our food to us which was so kind because it's a plate lunch place. Every bite from first to last was delicious and full of flavor. The donut breakfast sandwich was bomb, I do wish I could buy the donuts ala carte too, it was so crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. My son who like I said is a very picky eater was grinding on the fried rice, he couldn't get enough. All in all we left really happy and content. Praying they continue to grow in their success and become a staple part of Waipahu like how Rockys is. Definitely coming back and already started spreading the word about this place.

Ok tried the messed up fried rice. A variety of meats that were left overs (not old).so a different combo of 4 meats blended with the fried rice with one egg..really delicious !!!

  • Ashlyne F.

Prices were not bad....one hamburger, two French Fries, fried banana bread and won ton mein only $20.33. I would go back again except ordering light salt with the French Fries, it was a little too much salt sprinkled for my taste. But overall, another good place to grab lunch when I don't feel like cooking.

The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
