Tried this place again after hiking Waimea Canyon. Same great food. He had Garlic New York Steak, I had Deep Fried Veggies. Huge servings, delicious food.

Ugh... So bad. A salad bar so small they should be embarrassed about it, basically only burgers for lunch yet dubs itself a steakhouse. Got chicken, it was half fat. Gross and so not worth it. If I wasn't starving and my wife wasn't such a weirdo about leaving a restaurant after being sat, I definitely would have left. Stay away, dump alert.

Great Food - service is slow compared to mainland restaurants so sit back and enjoy being in Kauai

We love this place! Or rather, we love the SIZZLING steak! This is our second trip here after hiking around Waimea Canyon, and our second time getting the steak. Both times it was prepared perfectly and promptly; quickly enough that we didn't have time to finish a margarita before they arrived. The salad bar is fresh and tasty, albeit limited. We also really enjoy eating on the front porch, although some may find the traffic bothersome. After overpriced fare at the Hyatt, we really enjoy the change of pace, and plan to come here at least once whenever we're down this way.

We used to love the Wrangler but the love is gone. This isn't about the food but the service. We drove from Poipu, about 25 miles RT, and they couldn't accommodate a party of six for lunch. They offered one table for 4 and one for 2 and not together. We asked how long until we could be seated together and didn't get an answer. The thing is they had plenty of options to seat us together but were to uninterested to make it happen. We just left and had an excellent lunch at Kalaheo Cafe, and much closer to Poipu. This was our 25th trip to Kauai and the first time we were treated like this.

Ate here 4th of July weekend while visiting my dad with a few friends this place was really good!! I had the pork chops very tasty and unlimited soup and salad can't beat that definitely worth a try oh and don't forget to save room for dessert as the lilikoi cake is super Ono

Being super hungry after 7 miles strenuous hike in Waimea canyon we ended up at Wranglers Steakhouse for lunch. Our server was nice and pretty fast took our order, chicken quesadilla and wedge salad, all entrees include soup and salad, and I really loved their Portuguese sausage soup. Shrimp on wedge salad was super tiny and didn't even taste like shrimp but the rest was very good. Portions are quite small. Interesting place and I liked we stopped there.

The kiawe grilled rib eye steaks are the best tasting steaks that I have ever had! It had a great kiawe wood smell and taste and was perfectly cooked and tender and juicy. I like to grill and asked them about the meat and how it was cooked. The meat was purchased at Costco and butchered on site. They just use salt and pepper seasoning. I noticed that it was cut only 1/2 inch thick. I think it is because the fire is really hot and the outside would be overdone if cut any thicker. Their salad bar was minimal, but it had Japanese pickled radishes. It was a really hot and muggy day. They didn't have AC and we were seated under the fans in the courtyard. We are looking forward to the next time we travel to Waimea.

In my opinion, this place is confused. The food is okay, however, for the prices, it is not up to par. Servers are wearing shorts and sneakers with polos. We stood at the front un-acknowledged by any of the servers who walked past us numerous times without making eye contact. Finally the musician smiled and invited us to look at the menu while we waited to be greeted! AWKWARD. The outdoor patio is pleasant, but as with any outdoor seating, inherently there are insects. For $35+ an entree, there should be no "all you can eat soup and salad bar", this isn't Sizzler, and I suppose if there is, there definitely shouldn't be flies sitting on the food. On the same token, the choice of "mashed potatoes, rice or French fries" seemed unappealing in this price point. Enter failed food presentation: all white circular plates; I had the fish special, which was blue marlin in a seaweed crust, sounded delicious, until it was slathered in the aioli and the hoisin sauce soaked the entire bottom layer of the plate, rice, fish, garnish and all. My husband had the filet Mignon, which was tasty, but had a pretty hefty amount of fat. The drinks are served in mason jars, I ordered a "passion fruit margarita" off their specialty drink menu. It was mehh, definitely no fresh fruit juice and tasted heavily of triple sec. Tasted like any other margarita in a crappy bar. Once the bill came I saw the price of the cocktail was only $8, so can't complain about that. All in all for only 1 drink and 1 sautéed mushroom app, and 2 entrees, $100 was way too much for this place; we could have eaten at Tidepools in our hotel for less. If this meal came to $60, it would have been fine. They need to up their game to match their prices, or get off their high horse! (Reviewed as I am sweating at their table and swatting away flies from landing on me.)

This place was recommended by the front desk staff. I had such high hopes after seeing the decor and menus. Amazingly detailed authentic country atmosphere right down to the details in the restrooms. Fantastic themed drinks and bar area. The restaurant itself, sadly, not so much good to say after the decor. Was seated and then waited over 45 minutes for anybody to come back and offer another drink, another 45 minutes to take an order. By then we weren't even hungry but had committed to seeing how the food was. It was so so, and I don't know if the fact that I seriously burned my arm on the plate or that the steak was a bit tough that did it for me. Overall I paid way to much to sit with one watered down drink and tough steak for 3 hours.

We returned here for dinner on our last night in Waimea. The salad bar had changed; the edamame was replaced with a delicious noodle salad, and even though it's summer, I enjoyed the corn chowder. Tonight, my son had the crab cakes as his entrée, with mango salsa. I had the ahi special, lightly cooked with a delicious seaweed somewhat crunchy coating, and my husband has the surf 'n' turf special. The steak was perfectly portioned & seasoned, and the lobster tail substantial. It was one of the best surf 'n' turf dinners my husband had ever had. Candace was our attentive waitress, Nick Castillo provided wonderful Hawaiian music, and Colleen, the owner, graciously came out to talk with us.

A terrific lunch deal. We got here at 3:55 pm and were told we could still order off the lunch menu or wait five minutes and order off the dinner menu. I had the $10 chicken quesadilla--good, not great--but the entre came with the soup and salad bar. The soup was fantastic, small chunks of beef, chili pepper spice and a nice variety of vegetables. My wife had the $17 NY Strip lunch steak, a generous steak that was everything you would expect and my son the a $17beef and cabbage dish that he like but thought was similar to what he had recently gotten at a supermarket deli. Before stopping we yelped this place and saw some complaints about slow service. We asked about this before we sat down and were assured that since we were almost the only customers right at that moment, that service would be fast. It was very fast. Obviously, it is not always possible to deliver service at the speed requested, but some people like fast service and others resent it. It never hurts to let your server know your preferences. Prior to eating here, we had been cooking in our rented house in Kauai Big Island grass fed sirloin and round beef cuts. This beef is much leaner than the USDA Prime usually served in steakhouses because Prime means the most fat marbling. They are two very different kinds of meat with the grass fed steak much tougher--I don't mind but I see why most steak houses will stick to the traditional heavily marbled meat.

Outstanding experience and pretty good food. Service was extremely fast and the staff was very friendly. The surf and turf steak was deliciously seasoned and a generous portion but being a thin cut it was slightly overlooked.

Zero flavor. Steak not cooked correctly. Wait staff was friendly.

Prices like The Melting Pot, but the food is better at places like Outback! Too bad that's not an option on Kauai. But for a $100 for my wife and I to eat dinner, I expect top quality food! (Don't believe the $$, BTW, this should be $$$ because it can cost $30-$50 for a meal.) They had a pitiful looking salad bar that was all you can eat. This could have been good, but it wasn't. Not even tomatoes available, much less better tasting salad toppings like cheese. The steak was good, again--slightly comparable to Outback quality, but unfortunately the lobster I had was also about as bad as Outback's lobster (nowhere near as good as places like Red Lobster). Ultimately the food was good, but not great and not worth the price. I paid for a memorable culinary experience. While it was a nice place and enjoyed sitting for dinner, I would have had a better tasting meal by eating at Da Booze Shop across the street for $20.

Waimea Kauai is a cool place and the main steak house is Wranglers. We ate there two nights in a row because we wanted a friendly and sit down type place to have dinner. Everyone was super friendly and the service was great. We sat on the front porch both nights to capture the complete Waimea experience. You can have your steak cooked sizzling platter style, pepper steak or I think the other way was peppercorn style. Comes with your choice of white rice or mashed potatoes plus salad bar with the best home made pickled onions and takuan. Soups of the day ( we went two nights) were corn chowder and onion mushroom beef stock soup. The steaks were done perfectly. Btw, last night we had the sizzling ny which looked like 14oz. Tonight I had the surf n turf (coconut crusted shrimp). Oh! My wife had the Bbq ribs. Fall off the bone! We ordered peach cobbler ala mode which they packed for us to take back to our hotel (plantation). Two hours later, my wife couldn't resist tasting the cobbler; she said it was so good as it tasted fresh and crunchy. Great crust and really homemade. Btw: you need to give them 15 minutes to bake it so don't expect to grab and go. As I write this, I'm thinking why am I giving them three stars when they are at least a star better than the two major steak houses in Honolulu. I'm thinking that I've had better ambiance and a steak or two in NYC or Chicago so I'll keep it a three. I'm just thinking about my mediocre experiences in Honolulu. As for Waimea, I'd have to give them at least four stars, maybe five.

I just had the rib eye plate and it was delicious. The service was great along with the music by Nick Castillo. I'm here on vacation with my family and this place just makes it that much more memorable. Wrangler keeps it real!!!

Really good food, but the steak is a little salty and the sides are overcooked. Plus the beer was served warm when it should have been a little cooler.

A good sized place that is a family run business, this steakhouse seems like an anomaly in a land filled with ahi shrimp and tacos. Who wants steak in Hawaii? Tough call, but once in awhile a craving hits, and this place does not disappoint. There is a small basic salad bar, but a few things stick out. Go for the pickled in house daikon radishes, and the soups usually are a good option even though they have a gravy consistency. I did order steaks, and no they are not from Hawaii cattle. They explained that the beef they felt is too gamey, and their steaks come from Colorado and they are corn fed. Still they are tasty. A solid ribeye is prepared nicely with a simple side of mashed potatoes and some carrots. Nothing fancy, but it does the job and is succulent and plentiful. THere's a lilikoi dessert option that is a nice addition, and if I was in the mood for fresh fish or the kind of something more endemic to the island I would trust the kitchen to pull it off right. Staff is also very nice and attentive with great service. Worth stopping by for a nice easy simple meal that isn't too heady or fancy. It doesn't need to be.

I went to this place tonight and the food was alright except for the fact that it took them like 180 minutes or how some people like to say it 10,800 seconds to bring the food to the table. For a appetizer I ordered GARLIC toast and it had absolutely no garlic on it. Plus it took them 20 minutes for them to bring toast to the table which takes 1 minute to actually cook. The bathroom was extra nasty then what a normal restaurant bathroom is and it smelt so pitiful I almost passed out in there. The service was exceptional and there is even a guy who asks you every 15 seconds how your food is and constantly loves to refill your water cup. That reminds me why would you serve your drinks in moonshine jars??? For dessert I ordered the Chocolate Lava cake which was very tasty. The only problem...my family ordered 4 but apparently they only had 3 left. What kind of restaurant runs out of a dessert and they only have 4 to choose from and it's not like the place was even that packed. Plus they gave you one scoop of ice cream for it even though the cake was about 12 centimeters in diameter which is atrocious. That's all I've got to say wasn't terrible but was bad.

Sizzling steak was cooked perfect, was very tender and absolutely delicious! The salad bar is small but served its purpose. I have lived on Oahu for the past 6 months and have many Mai-Tai's, who knew I would have to travel to Kauai to have the BEST Mai-Tai I've ever had!!

I really like this place! Came here for lunch on a trip to Kauai six years ago, and came back for dinner now that we live in the islands. Last time, I had the Kau Kau Tin for lunch and LOVED it. A vintage stacked lunch tin with teri beef (like meat CANDY), rice, and tempura shrimp: charming. They don't offer it at dinner, but they did have a Japanese Tempura platter which is essentially identical, if horizontal. Teri beef, rice, tempura shrimp, eggplant, and shrimp, and ahi sashimi. Plus the salad bar and soup (clam chowder). Salad bar had edamame, cold pasta, lettuce, celery, and the most flavorful tomatoes I've tasted in a long time. Husband had the special garlic steak (so much garlic, we'll be vampire-free for weeks) that was HUGE. Outdoor dining on the front porch and in the garden out back. Super-friendly service. Paniolo vibe that's not over-the-top. Great prices, and an awesome choice if you're out on the west side at Waimea Canyon or Polihale for the day.

This place is quaint, family oriented and laid back. Being in the restaurant industry, I expect a certain level of customer service. If you choose to eat here, do not expect anything special. Our server just went through the motions, said what she needed to say, I was hoping to get introduced with a name followed with suggestions or description of the special. The food was mediocre. I ordered the filet mignon which was cooked to medium rare as I expected. The side of mash potatoes were instant and came out of a piping bag. Over all the food was filling and over priced. I wasn't imressed from the outside as well as the inside. It will probably be the last time.

We stopped here for dinner after a long day of hiking Waimea Canyon. After reading the reviews for the Saddle Room, we were excited to try the cocktails and some burgers and garlic fries. Although it took about 20 minutes to get seated, we thought the wait would be worth it based on the Yelp 5 star reviews. Once seated we ordered the extra spicy Bloody Mary's (which were to be served with a pepper bacon strip) and some beers. After waiting 30 minutes for our cocktail order to arrive, I finally went outside just to check that we were in the spot that received such great reviews! Finally the cocktails arrived and we were informed they didn't have any bacon for the Bloody Mary's (which weren't extra spicy as ordered). Plus the beers were warm and one person didn't get their cocktail at all. The person with no cocktail quickly ordered a Mai Tai which was not good. We all wanted to order burgers but were told no burgers on the dinner menu. However they had a hamburger steak dinner so go figure?? So we ordered overpriced steak and pasta with ahi along with garlic fries. The steak was overcooked and the pasta had very few ahi slices in it. The garlic fries were regular fries with some garlic salt sprinkled over them - nothing special. The service was slow and the food was disappointing. In an attempt to salvage the evening, we asked for Kona coffee ice cream, but were told they ran out! Bad service, overpriced mediocre food and what kind of restaurant runs out of bacon and ice cream? It turns out the Saddle Room and the Wrangler restaurant are one and the same, so don't be fooled the 5 star reviews given to the Saddle Room. In summary, save your money and don't eat here.

Great hamburgers grilled to order, exactly as you asked to have it done ... medium with griiled mushrooms, avocado, and cheddar add-ons was great. Very friendly service. Come here after a Waimea Canyon hike for grub and a draft beer. Cowboy boots preferred!

Extremely disappointed in this restaurant. We arrived about 6:45 and waited about 30 minutes to be seated -- even though there were ample empty tables. We were given the Pre-Valentines Special menu and told that they were out of Filet Mignon. When asked if we wanted an appetizer, we ordered Ahi sashimi, but they were out. So we passed on an appetizer. When it came time to order dinner, I ordered the local -grown ribeye - only to be told they were out of that also. So, I ordered the mainland ribeye and mashed potatoes, but guess what? Yep - there were no mashed potatoes to be had. Finally got our order and I have to say I've never seen a ribeye like that (thin and flat) in my entire life and it was so salty I could hardly eat it. Was also surprised that there wasn't a single hot vegetable (other than mashed potatoes) on the entire menu. Would not recommend this place to anyone. I do have to say that my husband's meal was better than mine -- thus the two stars.

I think I found a new front runner. The "Paniolo Buger" is my new favorite.

  • Jackie M.

Service was nice. That's the second star. We came for lunch and the menu is very limited. Their chicken is left on the bone and deep fried, then covered in whatever sauce you want. So I got the fish and chips and at least I could cover them in salt and vinegar. My husband's steak was extremely thick and very chewy. There was some kind of soup we think was French Onion but without any bread or cheese. I'm a little Monkish about sanitation, and the Denim chairs made me cringe - you can't throw a chair in the washing machine so they are probably as filthy as they look. There's also a salad bar just sitting out in the open for people to sneeze on. If you are staying in Waimea, just drive somewhere else to get good food.

  • Fatima J.

We were just driving around my husband and I and we decided to stop here just to see whats up! plus we were freakin' starving!! + all you can eat salad bar with soup and bread (yeah people complain about the salad bar being "wack" with few options.. but C'mon lets keep it real.. if you wanted salad, why you at a steak house hommie!?) + super friendly staff + great outdoor seating + food was delicious! - creepy lady sitting across from us listening to music on her iphone and starring at us the whole time!! she wasn't even eating anything!

  • Julie B.

A wonderful find in Waimea!! After seeing the sunset at Polihale Beach, we wanted a nice dinner. We found Wranglers Steakhouse and we were pleasantly surprised! The western atmosphere was great! We sat out on the front porch and had one of the best dinners we've had so far - The rib-eye steaks were a hardy portion and cooked to perfection, they came with soup (corn chowder) & salad (Papaya Seed Dressing), and mashed potato or rice and a vegetable. Yummy! Our daughter had the Japanese Tempura plate and she loved it! And sometimes she can be quite picky!! So, if your on the westside of the island and looking for a nice place to eat, try Wranglers. I don't think you'll be disappointed!!

  • D C.

It was nice to go to an actual steakhouse, after so much island-fare. The food was very good. Service a bit slow, but hey, you're on Hawaiian time and I enjoyed listening to the music by a local musician on his acoustical guitar.

Ate here on our vacation to Kaua'i. We were staying in the area and reviews looked promising. :) The restaurant is unique and adorable. Very "western/paniolo" style. Very nice gift shop as well! I have to say, we loved it. We ordered steak and were over the moon impressed with the flavor, the cut, the seasonings, etc. Loved eating on the front porch! I loved the little salad bar too! I fell in love with papaya seed dressing here and bought a bottle (at Big Save) to take home with us! (all the way to O'ahu LOL) I'd go here again in a heartbeat.

Nice steakhouse.. Welcoming, good food, but pricey.. Salad bar could use better lighting and maybe a description of what's being served.. Overall it was a good experience but because of the prices and not serving fruit, we won't be back for a while.

  • Kurt C.

We had high hopes, but they were not fulfilled. Walking in, we got nothing but strange looks from everyone because we weren't wearing shorts and flip-flops. That doesn't effect the rating, we just like to look like we put some actual thought into what we wear. They have live music on Saturday night at 6. It was a guy playing the ukulele and singing which made for a really nice atmosphere. As for the Steakhouse... we went to the counter to get a table and were put on a wait list. It was about 10 minutes. That's no problem, except that well over half of the tables were empty, and everyone who came in had to wait to be seated. Why, you might ask? Because they want you to take time to browse through their shop. OK, that will dock you a star. The service was pretty slow, very friendly, but slow. Although I don't think it was her fault, they just didn't have many people staffed for the floor. Drink: Root beer - good as can be Drink: Plantation Ice Tea - Way too much juice in there... not worth the price Entree: Sizzling Steak - Really big, but not a lot of flavor Entree: Ahi Penne Pasta - Pretty good, could have used more spice in the sauce Salad: Self serve bar Soup: Clam Chowder - surprisingly good flavor, but a bit runny Overall, we just really weren't that impressed with this place. The servings should have been half the size and cost half as much. Mix that with the slow service, bland taste, and pointless wait and Wrangler's makes our list of Kauai places we really can't recommend unless there are no other options.

This was a real "find" for us! On the way back down from seeing the Waimea Canyon, we stopped in for lunch on the recommendation of a friend who lives up in Princeville (a local). We were not disappointed! The beef is local, grass-fed beef, and the Wrangler Burger was moist and delicious and cooked to perfection! I had the "Catch of the Day Fish"- Hebe, a spearfish, grilled in a sandwich, and it was delicious also! ALL LUNCHES include salad bar, which i especially liked because it wasn't the boring, run-of-the-mill type you can get anywhere. It had breadfruit, pickled Daikon, Edamame, pasta salad, cucumber, and of course, lettuce ( very fresh and pretty). Corn Chowder (also on the salad bar) was delicious. We sat outside and service was excellent. Colleen Faye, owner, was on-site, and was delightful. There is a gift shop on site, and some interesting pictures and other Hawaiiana to look at and purchase. We will definitely return here on our next visit, this time might try for dinner!

Came here for a family dinner and we loved the theme and decor. I had the BBQ ribs with mash potatoes which were good. My girlfriend had the sizzling steak which had great presentation but lacked flavor and seasoning in my opinion.

    (3)
  • Ian H.

Cute gift shop and great service. Maybe we should have stuck to steaks for the food though. Kids enjoyed the ribs but my lamb special tasted gamier than any lamb I've ever had. Inedible. The Caesar salad had unseasoned chicken on top and was pretty bland. The salad bar's edamame was similarly tasteless. Pretty disappointed after all the great reviews on Yelp but again, maybe we should have stuck to steak.

  • Nicole C.

This place is the worst. My husband and I came here starving after a 3 hour long hike and I ordered the fish sandwich, which was literally repulsive I almost got sick. It was stale and old stuffed between a hamburger bun. Seriously SO GROSS. my husband got the pork which he said was "ok". This place was also riddled with flies. So overpriced for the quality of the food (awful). Save your money and go to Kauai brewery instead.

  • Johnny W.

I stopped in for lunch after visiting Waimea Canyon. I was politely greeted, seated and served a cold drink. The atmosphere was typical Hawaiian meaning casual and unpretentious. I ordered and enjoyed the grilled ahi sandwich. It tasted fresh and the portion size was ample. Of course I enjoyed the soup and salad bar. The next time I stop in I will try the steak. A friend recommended Wrangler's to me. He reported that he was completely satisfied with the service, atmosphere and enjoyed his steak dinner. One last thing, after mentioning to a few of the locals in Lihue about my visit to Wrangler's, they both reported that it has a very good reputation with the locals as well as with regular visitors.

The food was terrible. The server was very Unfriendly, we were afraid to even ask for refills on our drinks. Would not eat there again. Not worth the calories. And they were out of everything for the salad bar except carrots and lettuce.

I like this place because although it sounds average, it's actually a uniquely Hawaiian experience. the food was good

  • James H.

It's a nice cowboy themed steakhouse. I know it's popular among locals, but the food was average. The "salad bar" was actually a bit below average, but the great service made it better. The Clam Chowder is the best thing on the menu.

How have I been here like 7x over the years and never reviewed them? Wranglers can be hit or miss sometimes but we've had more hits than misses. The Wrangler burger is always our meal of choice and there's a trick to it. If you typically order well done, you'll get a briquette. If you order medium well, you'll get dry. If you order medium, you'll get a juicy well done. I haven't dared ordered under that but go for it if you need some pink in there. Homemade soups are always good. The salad patch is pretty good (calling it a "bar" would be a little generous.) The staff is always nice and keeps the refills coming. There are some great items in the shop too so don't forget to stop in there before paying.

  • Katie A.

Past experiences were inconsistent, the food is alright and the service doesn't really help it either. I gave a 3 because I was seated within 2 minutes of arriving there. I was expecting alot out of this place and i'm sad to say that I could probably cook a better tasting and well tempted steak.

my ohana comes here every time it's someone's birthday. it's conveniently located in waimea (they live 2 minutes up the road in the valley). we always have a reservation, and generally there are five or six of us in attendance. the service is good, the staff is always friendly. now for the food.. i absolutely love the filet mignon!! it's so good kiawe grilled. my dad really enjoys the pulehu steak. my grandma's usual is the tempura plate... it's so big! there's lots of tempura, teri beef, ahi sashimi and rice. she can never finish it. this is definitely one of my favorite places to eat on the west side. and to order filet mignon at 26 bux?! well worth it.

  • Josh H.

We may have screwed this one up; it was our first day on the island and we felt like needed to eat fish. Clearly, this is a place for steak. The salad was fun, inclusive and simple, but felt homey. The fish was decent. We realized later that the steak might have made this a four or five star based on what fellow diners were saying about their orders, along with the amazing smell. The service was excellent and the people were friendly, and helped us figure out what next to explore on the island.

We came here on our first night on Kauai, on a recommendation by our hotel (Aston Waimea Plantation Cottages). They were pretty good, Hawaiians definitely like their steaks. For dessert, we shared the sampler, which had flan (meh), Kona mud pie (yum) and Lillikoi Dream Pie (extra yum). I think if I was in Waimea again, I would come here again.

Place was very clean and awesome. Prices very very reasonable and the food was great. Highly recommend the steak sandwich.

Me and the wife ordered the Pu Pu Platter for our dinner (Crab Cake, Large Shrimp Cocktail, Steak, Calamari, and Ahi. That worked really well and we had just enough room for the desert sampler. Friendly wait staff but food was a little slow coming. I would come back for sure... they stay open relatively late.

Surprisingly good food....slow service. The house signature burger was worth the stop.

Walked in very hungry after a full day of serious touristy stuff! While not especially busy (Tuesday evening), it took them awhile to get us seated. Started with the soup and salad bar, which is minimal in selections but fresh and tasty, The daikon was especially good. The soup is nothing to write home about. My ribeye was as good as you are going to get and my wife's penne pasta with red pepper sauce as very tasty and generous. A couple of kids sitting near us ordered Pina Colada's - and then when the waitress brought them to the table, she realized that they were underage - FREE DRINKS for us! wooHoo!

Seriously one of the best meals we have had on island! The crab cake was pretty good, but add the pineapple sauce and yum!! The salad was nothing to write home about, but the clam chowder easily better than Duke's as was the ribeye! It was SOO flavorful and barely any fatty pieces. The staff was extremely pleasant and the OMG the peach cobbler!! Totally worth the 15 minutes to cook! Don't waste your money one other Steakhouses! But if you're looking for an upscale atmosphere, or dishes that look as amazing as they taste this might not be your cup of tea. It's a small town restaurant on Hawaii apparently some tourists don't realize things move slow in Hawaii and even slower in the Hawaiian countryside. Well worth it!

Just finished a 4 mile hike at the Waimea Canyon and I was hungry hence was lucky to find a fantastic steakhouse in garden island. Had the rib eye medium rare perfectly done and all you can eat salad bar! Very satisfying!

In my opinion, the best time to go is during lunch only because the menu is almost the same but CHEAPER.

We were driving back from PMRF and it was getting late as we only had one night on the island I really didn't want steak but everyone else in my party did, so we stopped. I was surprised at the quality of the food and of the relative inexpensiveness of the meals. As usual everyone else ordered their steaks well done, but I got a taste of one of the riveted and it was still very tender. I had the seafood special of the night and it was exceptional. For a family of four we got out of there for $100 which is really good considering hawaii prices and then an off Oahu island restaurant. I will return if I return to Kauai.

Took my family here for lunch, while on a road-trip up to visit Waimea Canyon. I had a steak sandwich, and they had burgers. Both were very tasty, and everyone left satisfied. We didn't try the salad bar that some others have Yelped about. Staff was friendly and attentive. The inside of the place was very ranchy looking, and well themed for what they were serving. It was super convenient to just pull off the highway and eat here. I would probably eat here again, on a future trip up to the canyon.

Be prepared to WAIT. We came here on a Friday night for dinner...we were seated right away, but it took soooo long to get our food! Drinks were ok...mine didn't taste like it had any liquor in it, but it was $9. The salad bar is ok...pretty small. I ordered the fish dinner...decent enough, but not worth the wait. If you're in need of lunch, get some take out at Ishihara Market or Da Booze Shop...if you're in need of dinner, go to Waimea Plantation instead.

We stopped here on the way to The Canyons. it was a perfect place to stop since it was an extremely hot day and a long drive up from Princeville. We planed to make it a short stop so we could head on our way. We chose the outdoor seating which was breezy and pleasant, just what we were in need of. Our table ordered a few beers, a shrimp cocktail which was standard, a lilikoi ice cream pie which was not only huge but tasty and refreshing and an order of kalua pork and cabbage with a plate one the side so we could share. The shrimp and pie came out promptly and we engaged in conversation and soaked up the sun. After sometime we began to wonder where the kalua pork was since over an hour had passed so we asked the waitress how much longer...as it turns out she had forgotten! she was so apologetic and sincere that we were able to over look the transgression. In addition, my boyfriend and his step dad enjoyed it so much when it arrived i guess it was worth the wait. I will return here.

Salad bar was weak like others have commented. Very few options. Had garlic ribeye and mashed potatoes. Steak was cooked excellently but potatoes were not as smooth as I would've wanted.

service was great. steak was delicious for the price we paid. we got mashed potatoes which was overloaded with garlic. "salad bar" was mediocre. not a lot to choose from..and no bread. = (.... the entree did come with the salad bar and small soup. salad bar had lettuce, carrots, edamame, boiled bean sprouts, and some other local small stuff. i would come here if i was craving steak and didnt wanna pay $30 bucks for an 8 oz. restaurant environment was cute and inviting.

Teriaki chicken is great. Ahi was way too bland. Attentive if a little slow service. Nice location and atmosphere. Reasonable prices and good sized portions. Island tea is a blend of juices that my teenage daughter liked a lot.

The steak was great! Expensive, but what isn't in Kauai. I got the peppercorn steak and it was cooked perfectly, a little bit too many peppercorns for my liking, but they were easy to take off. However, the salad bar...don't even bother, its a joke. And they do charge you for refills of your soda here. But considering it's Hawaii and everything is expensive, my steak was good.

We stopped here early evening as other local restaurants were closing already. Being it was early and not that busy yet, we were surprised at how slow the service was. But then again maybe not slow by Island standards. :) I ordered the Caper New York I was very disappointed. It was so very very tough. All I can figure is they have no aging process at Wranglers. The Salad bar was disappointingly small. On a positive note the Clam chowder on the salad bar was yummy. My wife had the Pork Chop. That was definitely a better choice. It was flavorful and tender.

I went on a Saturday night. The service and salad bar were good, but the atmosphere was average at best. The clam chowder was runny and the steaks were below average. I would not recommend this place and am very surprised by the high ratings.

Maybe we came on a good day.. we had just come back from the beach and were super hungry.... first thing we saw... A caballero (cowboy) Nate said MEAAAAAAAAAAT and Jessica and I were like LOTION AND TRINKETS!! All in all it worked out Nate and Jess's steaks were on point-- no complaints from them Nate had two passion fruit margaritas that were gorgeous....and did him in to the point where he had to sleep in the car while Jess and I walked around. The calamari was not the best I have ever had, but the sauce it came with was yummy. My sashimi was fresh and melted on my tongue...always a good sign. The miner's lunch was a cute idea.. it was served in one of those three level tins... kim chee, tempura, rice and tons of beef teriyaki.... I like my beef teriyaki smoky with a tad of sweet... this hit the spot and I could not finish it all... this is by far the best deal at this restaurant. There is also unlimited soup and salad. Salad options were fresh and I definitely had my fill of edamame beans. They use the cheapy 99 cent store hashi (chop sticks) here which I think is kinda cool. Best part of my meal with the lilikoi pie.... it was creamy, it was light and fresh and I wanted more!! It was a great way to end my trip! Jessica had no idea what a mud pie was (don't ask) and the slice she got was HUGE. It looked like enough for three people. The stuff they had for sale was also cool. I bought a think of vanilla lotion and some post cards from a local artist. They have everything from masks to coffee to a recipe book for sale. This place is worth a looksy...even if you don't eat here.

Like others have mentioned, the salad bar was sparse. They should have a sign over it touting a honeymooners salad as it was basically "lettuce alone". I guess the owners neverbreadbthe comments as it has been like this for years and is not going to change. We arrived at 3;45PM and were given the lunch menu. We asked to see the dinner menu and decided on an itemonit. They couldn't take our order for a dinner item until after 4 even though we were the only ones in the place. Finally at 4:05 they took our order and it took 40 minutes to serve, still with no one else there. Having said that, the steak was tender and tasty.

I came here with the family for dinner after viewing another great Hawaiian sunset. We had three adults and two children in our party. First the service here was excellent and very friendly. Only downside was our waitress was not too familiar with the menu. Here are some of the review of the items ordered. Shrimp scampi - shrimp very fresh, but sauce too cheesy. It was average. Butterfish, waloo breadcrumb cover with lobster. Very fresh, great. The fish was like eating crab meat. Amazing. Ribeye. Good flavor. However, I asked for medium rare, but came out medium. Still good, would have been great, if medium rare. All entrees come with all u can eat soup and salad bar. Gotta get the pickled radish. Absolutely amazing, would come back just for those. The kids got the fried chicken dinner and they killed it. My two year old absolutely loved the plain white rice. For sure I now know he is Asian.

Awesome experience from start to finish. We sat out on the back patio for dinner (came to celebrate my birthday)... Very attentive service... Always came to check on us, which was nice. I ordered the pulehu steak and she ordered pork chop. While waiting for our food, we enjoyed the small but decent soup and salad bar... Romaine, daikon, beets, sprouts, edamame, plus a yummy papaya seed dressing. Again, nothing mindblowing, but hey, it's included with entrees. Anyway, the steak was a-mazing!!! Tender, flavorful, and nicely spiced... A+++ The pork chops were decent (good with the crispy onions)... Both meals represented good value for the price. To top it off, we had the mud pie for dessert, which was a perfect finish to an excellent meal. I'm a bit full now though, I think I'll roll myself off the couch and just sleep on the floor, because i don't think i can make it to the bedroom, I'm so full!

Loved it. The special was fish with macadamia nut coating and the tastiest sauce. Almost picked my plate up and licked it. Sat outside in the back and the service was the right pace. Salad bar is so so, but the entree will get me there again.

Came down from Waimea Valley yesterday and were hungary. Drove into town and this place looked inviting. Pulled out back and smelled the grills and started to salivate. Went inside and was promptly seated. It was late for lunch so my first choice of pork ribs was no longer available. So I ordered the Wrangler Burger and the wife ordered the Teri Beef Sandwhich. Offered complimentary soup that the wife did not care for but I thought was ok with good taste, but hey, it is complimentary so freebies are freebies. Next came our lunches. First, my wife tasted her french fries and she just adored them. They are actually really good, taste fresh and not too salty. Then she had here terri beef sandwhich and loved it. Real good flavor and tender. The waiter explained that the beef is cooked over a wood fire grill which adds to the flavor. I think it was the best she ever had. The wrangler burger was awesome and cooked to perfiection. Great flavor, good size and it came with bacon, a plus. Our waiter was very attentive so he gets five stars on his own. Good place and I will be back next time I am on the island.

After reading a glowing review, our experience here was disappointing. The kiawe-fired steaks had good flavor, but the cuts of meat were very cheap--grisly, fatty, and chewy. Mashed potatoes were dry. Salad bar was the smallest we've ever seen. At least our server was friendly. This is a casual place located along a highway. Given the food quality and location, the prices seem over-inflated.

Horrible! The fish was overcooked. The prime rib was chewy! How does that happen? The only good thing was the passion fruit margarita and the kona firerock... Not recommended. Go to grinds instead if you want some good cheesy pizza.

My dinner at Wrangler's steakhouse is probably one of the only mediocre meals that I had on my stay at Hawaii. The steaks were good but the bread, pasta, soup and salad bar were quite forgettable. My wife and I didn't have a bad meal here but certainly it isn't a place that I'd recommend or that I'd go to again. As Grant, a previous reviewer, said it's like Cracker Barrel or even Sizzler... nothing worth going out of your way for but decent enough in a pinch.

Ms S's grandparents are fans of this place, so we took them for lunch. For the folks from the eastern US, this is Kauai's version of Cracker Barrel, 'nuf said? Decent portions, salad bar and a gift/trinket/... shop inside the restaurant. I had the Kalua Pig which was excellent and in the past have had the Kau Kau. This is a replica of the lunch the local sugar mill workers would eat. Three interlocking tins carry tempura, rice and teriyaki. A couple behind us ordered the chicken caesar salad and a chicken club. What a waste. If you come, come and experience. Food is a big part of how people express themselves. If you aren't going to at least try the local fare, stay home and read a travel book. At Wrangler, you can happily dive in.

This place is mediocre at best. The service was fast and friendly but the food was just ok. The salad bar is a joke.

Not bad.. Not great either. Tiny salad bar but unlike someone else said, free drink refills. The peppercorn steak had a lot of pepper.... Maybe a little too much. The staff was very nice.
