What a great evening. I wanted to pick someplace special for my birthday dinner - and I had seen an ad in the newspaper that Duo was participating in the Hawaii Restaurant Week. $39 for a 3-course meal at the Four Seasons?! Sure! We were a little early for our reservation (I wasn't sure how long it would take to get here from Lahaina), so we were invited to have a cocktail, but we decided to wander the grounds a bit and soak up the ambiance. Lovely. Just lovely. A great place to be just after sunset - tiki torches, lit-up fountains... it was all beautiful! We were seated promptly at our reservation time - the restaurant is elegant, yet totally casual and Hawaiian. It's open, breezy, and comfortable. We had a great view of the pool area and ocean beyond from our seat. Our waiter was helpful, prompt, and friendly. He helped my parents (who don't usually drink wine) pick out a very tasty Chardonnay and made recommendations for pairings with dinner as well. We all opted for the prix fixe meal. I chose the Maui onion soup for a starter (even in this heat!) and it was so good! Sweeter and lighter than French onion soup, but with all the delicious cheesy goodness of French onion. :) My entree was the braised short ribs - and you could add (for $10) either a half a lobster tail, a prawn, or 5 scallops. I thought I misread the type and it should have read "prawnS", but no - it was just one. One. Huge. Prawn. My mom was sure they messed up and sent out a lobster instead, but no. The biggest, juiciest, most delicious prawn ever came out with my ribs - worth every penny of that $10. The ribs were the most succulent I've ever taste. The only reason I had to use my knife was to push ribs and mashed potatoes onto my fork. We also had to add the white cheddar truffle mac n' cheese - all the reviews raved about it and now I know why! It was so decadent and rich! The truffle flavor was strong but not overpowering - and the mac n' cheese had the perfect crust with a little crunch to it, covering up a gooey, cheesey, al dente pasta. Delicious. We fought over that pan of mac! Dessert... ah, dessert. I wish I'd eaten less of the mac (well, no, not really). But there were two choices - a chocolate creme brulee with pink grapefruit sorbet (I hate creme brulee, but my stepdad said it was delicious!), and my choice: Island Trifle. Um... YUM. ladyfingers soaked in dark rum, layered with pineapple chunks, cream, and mango & lilikoi mousse. I wish I could have finished this one, but I was just too full. We had a fantastic experience - great ambiance, wonderful service, and delicious food. I would recommend Duo to anyone looking for a special night out in Maui.

Better steak than spago upstairs! Ate at spago last night and duo tonight and found the New York had much more flavor at duo than spago and $10 less per entrée Plus, who can beat cotton candy for dessert!

We are staying at the Marriott next to Four Seasons. It's a nice walk to Duo steak and seafood restaraunt which is located at Four Seasons. The Service is excellent. The pan seared Monchong fish fillet and Grilled Scallops were recommended.. Both were fantastic. The Hawaiian fish Monchong is a steak fillet mild flavor, very good, served with roasted vegetables and pasta. Grilled Scallops were equally fantastic. Grilled perfectly. The Riesling white wine was perfect. All in all I would definetly return maybe try breakfast next time. The outdoor oceanfront setting is beautiful and relaxing. Adds to the ambience ..oh and the pretty cotton candy they bring you at the end of Dinner is a nice touch. And yummy ..

So disappointed! We stayed at the Four Seasons for two weeks and tried this only once to realize that even the convenience of being close and the ocean views do not make up for the food! Ended up booking reservations at other restaurants on Maui or seeking various food trucks. The food was so salty! Not yummy at all. Flavored just weren't there :(

Wonderful service. Our waitress gave us a Kama'aina discount cuz I look Hawaiian. A compliment I am sure!

I went here for the breakfast buffet and it was the best breakfast buffet I have ever had. We sat on the patio with a view of the pool and ocean. The service was fantastic. Everyone was friendly and smiling all the time. The food was extraordinary. They have a hot station where I made my own omelette with organic eggs. The macadamia pancakes are unique and delicious. All sorts of fresh fruit and pastries. Amazing selection of juices, I liked the passion fruit and guava.

This review is based on breakfast only. Duo is actually the only option for breakfast we found on the Four Seasons property. The breakfast buffet is completely typical of most others. Everything was completely fine, just nothing special. The breakfast buffet costs around $40 each and leaves you with a feeling that you were ripped off. Pretty expensive in my opinion for some eggs, potatoes, standard breakfast meats, fruits/vegetables, and some pastries. I realize these are inflated resort prices: but, for that kind of price there should be some higher-end items available. If you are planning to spend your day on the property, my advice to you, is do as we did. Skip the overpriced/ average breakfast at Duo, grab a coffee from the lobby on your way to the pool, and go enjoy a way better early lunch at Ferraro's!

Food and view hit the mark, service was a joke. I have had better service at chain restaurants. The wait staff will offer you ZERO menu knowledge. I found after we ordered the meal the waitstaff was missing in action. Check other reviews this is a growing trend in this place. $75 for the raw bar is a ok deal, after reading a few reviews it appears the price has gone up many times.

We came here for dinner and boy was it good. The star was the bone-in ribeye, cooked perfectly. It was one of the best steaks I've ever had. Just because this is fine dining, don't get dainty around that bone. That's where you get maximum juice and flavor and I'm not afraid to admit that I picked that puppy up and went full caveman. Of course, you should not break etiquette for just any steak, but this was not just any steak. The fries were also some of the best I've had. Totally delicious. My father shelled out for the raw seafood buffet (get it). I hope they still offer that. It was pretty phenomenal. Probably the best seafood we've ever had in a buffet offering. He went back for seconds, and thirds... Suffice to say, a special dinner awaits you.

Awesome !! Had a late Monday breakfast here and it was amazing! The breakfast buffet is clearly better than nearby resorts and the steak and eggs I had were delicious!! Always remember, when you come to the island of Hawaii, be sure to ask for fruit with your meals. The pineapple and watermelon were as sweet as you would expect. The Four Seasons is a beautiful property so the view from the restaurant is equally stunning. Ask for a seat overlooking the pools and ocean! We look forward to going back for dinner later this week.

After almost two weeks of eating local Hawaiian fish, I decided it was time for a steak so we went to Duo. I was quite surprised, the steak was very very good. I am very particular as to how they cook the steak; then they very close. I usually get my steak black and blue or Pittsburgh rare; this time I ordered it Pittsburgh rare and it just needed a little more char on the outside. The rest of the meal was ok. They also gave us chocolate that said congrats on it for our honeymoon. We also have the lava cake which is worth getting.

Had the most amazing private dining experience at Duo. My husband planned a personalized menu with Chef Chris. Every moment of the entire 5 course meal, wine pairings and service were truly out of this world. Thank you for making our anniversary one we will never forget. Special thanks to Chef Chris and out private server, Jennifer!!

Steak was fine, fish was dry. Waiters and staff were great. Atmosphere was decent for Maui, just not enough wow factor for the price.

We did the buffet for 9 days in June 2013 and loved every bite! I enjoyed the fruit bar as well as the Belgian waffles, daily. Although pricey, it was wonderful food and a great atmosphere. For breakfast, plan to get there early. We were there each day at about 7-7:30 and were able to get a table on the patio with a good view, any later, and you will have to wait. For all you gluten people, they even have a gluten free section!

Had the best steak and lobster for a Valentine's dinner. The environment is great and the staff was perfect. Great place and we will be back again for another great family dinner.

Visited Duo during Restaurant Week + the service we had from Chris was fantastic. We had an early dinner reservation just has the sun was hitting its peak for setting. I'm a drinks-tea-with-dinner person and worried that there might not be any quality choices, but Chris brought me a tea he thought I would enjoy and a mini jar of honey which was very, very much appreciated compared to other places only providing sugar. The food itself was prepared very nicely; I ordered from the Restaurant Week menu + my friend ordered from their original menu. The truffle mac & cheese was heavenly and not overpowered by the truffle oil. Very filling. She ordered the salmon encrusted lobster which in the name alone was fantastic and delicious. I ordered the braised short ribs and it was tender and not smothered in the sauce unlike other places. We ended up ordering dessert (even though we were very very full) I ordered the vanilla creme brulee + she ordered the macadamia nut sundae. Since we live in Maui, we also got a wonderful Kama'aina discount which is always appreciated at these resort places but sometimes overlooked. Atmosphere was beautiful + my friend and I were genuinely impressed that all the people who worked there did not feel stiff, but were relaxed and professional. Highly Recommended on service, quality, view, + price. Parking Tip: Valet only, but the valet guys are very nice (tip well and they give you bottled water (; )+ the restaurant does validate

My wife and I visited Duo on Christmas Eve. The place was booked solid, but we were able to book a last second reservation for two. If trying to book s reservation, do not go through the concierge of the hotel, but directly to the front desk of the restaurant. Duo is in the Four Seasons hotel and we arrived about 30 minutes before our reservation. They took us and seated is without any issues whatsoever. Upon arrival, I was quickly told by our great waiter, Timmy, that the All you Can Eat Raw Food Buffet that my wife and I had been looking forward to splurging on was only on certain days...I think Sun, Mon, and Tues and I think it is about $80 per person. My wife and I ended up getting a couple of drinks, sides and we split the aged Rib Eye Roast, Lobster tail, Tiger Prawn and Scallops. We also saved a little room for dessert after our meal. I would give this place a five star based on the service, especially our waiter, had it not been for the $95 steak that did not seem to be a great cut of meat. although the steak was nicely cooked, it seemed to lack a little flavor, was heavily marbleized, and seemed to be charred a bit too much for my liking. Other than that, I would visit this place again, but only if I could get my hands on that Raw Bar.

Wanted nice place for my wife and I to go out for dinner. The duo part is meat and seafood I guess. It is in the four seasons hotel which is very nice. The setting is by the pool with a nice atmosphere. I had the skirt steak and my wife had the local catch. The waiter was attentive and boasted the local nature of the food. The food was very fresh and well prepared and seasoned appropriately. This was absolutely a great meal, but I guess I'm a cheapskate. I just seemed like a ton of money to me for one drink, salad, and protein entree each for two people. Our bill was $210 for two people. I think the three stars are for me being dumb and expecting something else at the four seasons in maui. If you can not look at you're check you will enjoy it thoroughly. I would recommend it with the previous stipulation.

Oh my! We had dinner at Duo last night... What an absolute delight... Fabulous meal... Excellent service from our waitress Maria along with everyone else that saw to every detail of a wonderful dining experience. We started out with crab cakes for appetizers and since there were three of us dining they added an extra crab cake... So glad since I could have eaten all three myself, they were sooo good! I had fillet mignon that was perfect! Husband had New York strip, which he loved and our daughter thoroughly enjoyed her steak special served over a bed of creatively prepared Brussels sprouts... Yum! Looking forward to more dinners at Duo during our stay...

Wow this place was great from start to finish ! Great view, staff and the food was absolutely wonderful! It's a bit pricey but worth every penny. However I must say the chocolate soufflé was ok not the best but overall everything else was great!

This place is sexy. I loved the ambiance the resort is amazing and the complimentary valet is awesome. I had the raw bar "amazing buffet" crab lobster oysters ceviche poke. AMAZING and it comes with fries and a salad. My boyfriend had the filet which he devoured. I can't wait to go back next year and I would def recommend the pear martini.

Strictly referring to the dinner, it left a great deal to be desired, especially the steak. We ordered the NY strip and it looked like something you would expect at Sizzler. And the waiter was straight out of TGI Fridays. Way overpriced for the quality. Would have given one star but the breakfast is very good, especially the service.

Tomahawk bone-in $110 was burnt/charred!! We will never order that again! Ruth Chris NEVER BURNS THEIR STEAK! Waiter Chad did not even offer to report it to the chef!

I recently stayed at the Four Seasons in Maui, with a fairly age diverse party of 4 other people! We went to Duo for dinner expecting something very good, but ended up with something fantastic. It's a little pricey, and not a casual setting like Ferraros, but Duo is a great place to have a fun, genuinely satisfying meal. One interesting thing about Duo; diners are mostly seated outside near the pool, rather than inside the restaurant itself. The view is great, and a number of heat lamps keep things from getting too chilly, but the wind is definitely something worth keeping in mind! The waiters that served us were friendly and helpful, and judging by the restaurant's star rating, that seems to be the norm! The menu can seem a little small at first, but if you look at it closely, you realize you actually have a great deal of choices! Flexibility is Duo's greatest strong suit. . . Next to food quality and ambiance, of course! Two members of our group weren't very hungry (we'd had a big lunch at Mama's Fish House!), so they decided to order salads. But they changed the dressing and added tiger prawns, because they were still in the mood for seafood. Another member of our party didn't particularly feel like any of the entrees, but liked the fairly extensive list of sides! He decided to order six and create his own meal, something our waiter said was absolutely possible. I ordered a fillet with herb garlic butter, one of the many sauces you can add to any order for free, and the last member of our party ordered a similar dish. We ended up with a table full of delicious, varied food, and we all had a blast sharing and sampling each other's plates! It was an extremely fun meal, and everything we ordered was great even by 5 star standards. We also ordered a bottle of excellent white wine, recommended by our waiter, and one member of our party ordered a "Twisted Root." An amazing dessert cocktail which tasted like an adult root beer float. I would definitely recommend it to anyone with a large party looking for somewhere to eat, whether young (a well behaved toddler was eating near us) or older (as were a number of happy senior citizens). Be sure to try the sides!

Good but not great. Pricing almost on a par with Spago's upstairs but food quality not as good. Not bad by any means but fell short of memorable vs Spago's. They do offer candy floss with the check which was pretty random. Had dinner here twice in the course of a weeks stay at the Four Seasons once with regular menu and once for Farmers night and would probably eat here again if we could not get a reservation at Spago's.

I feel a little bad for giving DUO a poor rating since we did have our reservations rather late for dinner. I wouldn't necessarily consider DUO fine dining but more of a nice casual steak house. I really wish we would have gone to Spago's for dinner. The waitress ok, not sure if she was being overly friendly or just fake. We did have their morning breakfast buffet provided to us by the Four Seasons, which was amazing. You should plan on getting their early since they tend to get over crowded and the wait times drag out. I would definitely recommend for breakfast, but not to sure about dinner.

Went here last night for the raw bar and dinner with friends from out of town. I can't say that the food was all that great. The restaurant receives 4 stars from me because of their staff. We were greeted at the door by 2 very nice ladies that took us to our seats right away. The atmosphere was amazing! We sat out on the patio directly in front of the fountain which was lit up and an amazingly beautiful thing to have as a background as we dined and talked the evening away. I understand that it's Maui and the 4 Seasons but the wine list I felt was a little limited and not anywhere near the selection they have at other restaurants in the area. My date had the Raw Bar which by the time we sat down for dinner looked a little depleted. I ordered the filet rare with a lobster tail for my entree. When the food came out, it looked beautiful and presented very nicely however, when I cut into my steak it was well done. The staff was very quick to notice my dissatisfaction with my meal and rushed over to check on us. I sent my steak back and had them prepare another. The staff was so kind and offered me something in the mean time to snack on while I waited but I declined. I received the 2nd steak which was prepared a bit better but still not what I would consider a "rare" steak. I didn't want to fuss so I ate it. The flavors were great but the quality of filet felt a little "chalky". The lobster tail that accompanied the filet was fantastic and packed full of flavor. All in all I was not impressed with the food however the staff from start to finish was fabulous and would be the only reason for dining there again in the future. Kudos to the front of the house for making my evening there so enjoyable!!! I can't remember my servers name but she was a darling and so attentive without be in our business all night!

We came here specifically for the unlimited raw bar featured only on weekends. Here's what you get with this option: Choice of soup or salad French fries with truffle oil 3 types of oysters Snow crab Slipper lobster tails Maine lobster tails Maine lobster claws (de-shelled) Seaweed poke White fish ceviche Cocktail shrimp with shells on Scallop poke 2 types of ahi poke Tako poke The oysters are shucked to order. While it's a little disconcerting to see the shucker work without protective gloves, he expertly shucks a dozen within a couple of minutes. If you guys chat and he likes you, he may even slip you a few kumamotos (not at the bar)! Paired with a nice white wine, the oysters were divine (the smaller Kushi was the favorite). Beware, there may be some shell debris on a few oysters (can't have everything in life, right?) The lobster and crab were very cold and delicious. I'd skip all the poke except the scallop, which was good. The ceviche was terrible. The shrimp, I heard, was good. I had the caesar salad with white anchovies and herb-garlic focaccia, which was delicious. The fries were great, too. The porterhouse received some mixed reviews and the $14 shrimp supplement was indeed huge. Would definitely come back for the raw bar, especially for the oysters and lobster. There's a kama aina rate if you're interested.

Friday night was fantastic. The farmers market concept was different and I needed to try it to understand it. My husband and 3 little ones went for dinner and took advantage of the family time set up from 5pm to 630pm. The kids enjoyed a buffet of their own while watching a movie on an extra large TV. They had games, art beanbag chairs and a balloon artist. Us adults went to pick out our salads and dinner choice for the evening. We had a lovely salad, oysters and some of the best prime cuts of meat found on Maui. The best date night ever. We spent time with the kids but we still had an adult dinner. It was the most relaxed dinning experience ive had in a very long time.

We got a nice table for dinner at sunset. Shared the Tomahawk steak, mac & cheese and veggies with my son. Everything was very good, including very attentive servers. The steak wasn't quite as sensational as I was hoping, but just "very good". The five different sauces made it more interesting, but hey, a great steak should be able to stand alone, right?

Duo is situated in the fancy Four Seasons where service is always top notch. Our server was very attentive and provided great recommendations. We weren't looking for a large meal and so that the all you can eat raw bar would be a good option. You can choose between salad or the Maui onion soup as an appy as well. The raw bar had: King crab legs, lobster, fresh oysters, shrimp, poke, ceviche, seaweed salad, and all the dips you need including vinegar, butter, and hot sauce... yep there's Cholula and Siracha. Also included was french fries, but our server was thoughtful enough to bring it out later in the meal so we wouldn't get full off of it before having a few helpings of the raw bar. For some reason the raw bar sounded much better than it was. We had a good meal with excellent service and an incredible view. We ended up eating plenty of oysters and I loved the shrimps but everything else at the raw bar was just ok. They had three types of fresh oysters including Welllfleets which are my favorite. There was also bread to start and cotton candy to finish. The Maui onion soup was a perfect onion soup. I will go back again and has a full meal from the menu or try there prefix meal that included plenty of appetizers and desserts!

The hotel and restaurant were very nice. I ordered the filet with a side of asparagus and my husband ordered the ahi with a side of mixed vegetables. Our food was good but not outstanding for the price. We found better ahi for cheaper prices at nearby restaurants.

Very delish raw bar that's offered Sunday thru Tuesday. I saw other posts that said it was Thursday thru Saturday so I'm wondering if it changes for the seasons? Tre, at the raw bar, was very helpful! I had my 4 month old in my arms and was only going to get oysters because I would be able to handle it with one hand but he totally help me out and, not only got my sides for the oysters, but carried my plate back to my table for me. Our server was Brad and he was very attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, courteous, and over all nice! This was our second visit to Duo and we've not had a bad experience, we'll definitely be back the next time we're in Maui.

Amazing night!! All the food was PERFECT, four of us went and we all absolutely loved our meals plus we got four sides to share which we're all great, then we got some desserts which we're flawless. Our waiter Timmy was great and the staff at the Four Seasons were also amazing! Kinda pricey since we live here but totally worth it!

2nd time here and it was awesome. All courses expertly prepared and immaculate service. Surprisingly reasonable prices on teen and kids menus and good choices. If you like French onion soup this is one of the best. Make sure you also order the extra jumbo prawn for an extra treat. The location is also beyond excellent with views of Maui that are hard to beat. If you like good food and nice surroundings you have to dash over to Duo!

Our overall experience was VERY VERY BAD, our server named Dani with and I and not a Y which was the first thing she told us and showing up for the first time 15 minutes after we got there. Her excuse was she had a BIG party which was clearly irrelevant to us. The rest of the evening was filled with her complete lack of knowledge on the menu and she was rarelly around to discuss anything with. The food was late and cold and her response to everything was BAD like the entire evening. We have been to DUO many times and usually our experience was far better so why this server and our food was SO BAD is a mystery to us and the restaurant did NOTHING to address the experience. Our server would be extremely fortunate to work at a fast food restaurant and this will continue to hurt this restaurant in the future as well. So we had a disappointing evening that was extremely pricey $$$$ and all BAD from start to finish....

My husband and I came here for the last night of our honeymoon and it was worth it. We got a great table facing the ocean so we can watch the most beautiful sunset. That's not the reason I'm giving this place 5 stars, their food and service definitely deserves it! Our servers name was Ed and he was so helpful with everything. He recommended a good glass of white wine (which is great when servers know their wines). I would recommend splitting everything, that's what my husband and I did and we felt like we over ate. We started out with the onion soup (which is HUGE)! Then we spilt the ahi entree and a side dish of the truffle Mac n cheese( that was my favorite). I am a huggge critic on Mac n cheese and there's was amazing! I will be returning again probably just for that Mac n cheese.

Granted no one may think Fish and Chips should be on the menu at a restaurant that claims to be one of the best "new" offerings in Wailea. This was the first time visiting this year and twice last year. Last year brought us around for another go this year. My complaint isn't that the Mahi Mahi wasn't cooked properly; but, it wasn't in a delicate tempura batter as described on the menu and the chips; long cut potatos, were very hot, but limp, giving the impression that they had be re constituted by a micro oven. They were just tired. Great location and the service couldn't have been better. Alas, considering that the prices should reflect a better quality, it would be hard to return here.

The food here is tasty, yet pricey. I really enjoyed my meal here. The chicken was well cooked and seasoned. It is very pleasant to sit outside at sunset. The all you can eat raw bar, while sounding both interesting and challenging, is probably worth skipping. The oysters were fine but don't taste distinctive of their origin and the wait to get the shucked can be excruciatingly long. The fries were awesome and so was the cotton candy at the end of the meal.

This is a really good restaurant, but I have to say, for the price point, I didn't love it, especially in comparison to Spago where we dined just a couple nights ago. Tomato salad was pretty good and the Maui onions were indeed sweet. Was not a huge fan of the tuna poke, and normally I love poke. It had a dark taste - the fish was good, but it just lacked a certain je ne sais quoi - I didn't want to keep eating it the way I normally do. The prime rib was tender and tasty, but full disclosure- meat by itself doesn't do much for me. The white cheddar-truffle mac & cheese was satisfying comfort food for a cold rainy evening. We had two of the desserts, tapas style: mango creme brulee and warm chocolate pudding donut (I asked them to substitute the Guinness ice cream for macadamia nut ice cream). The creme brulee was a bit too sweet for my taste, and the donut was a little more bitter and not quite as warm as I would have liked. The huge mass of grape-flavored cotton candy that arrived at the end of the meal was quite lovely and such an impressive display that the man sitting at the table next to us jumped up to take a photo along with my husband. But even then, the cotton candy was not the best I've ever had - it got hard and sticky quite quickly. The patio setting was nice and the service was attentive. Other than that I didn't love it, I really don't have any specific complains about this restaurant.

Dinner and service was amazing! We had the raw bar. The raw bar had shrimp, 3 types of oysters, Maine lobster claws, spiney lobster tails, peeled crab claws and legs, variety of poke, ceviche, and scallops. It came with truffle fries and a Caesar salad. It was so AMAZING! My husband is 6'4" 200 something pounds. He only had two plates. I'm half his size and height and I had three!! I schooled him!! I was very proud of myself. I waddled to the car but I PROUDLY did so :-) I've read some pretty nasty comments on yelp about duo. Red lobster?! Really. I've lived in Hawaii all my life. Can't beat Hawaii's seafood...but I've also lived on the west coast and sampled seafood from all over. Yes, this raw bar is all you can eat but it by no means does it compromise on flavor. It was all amazing. If some of you are comparing this place to red lobster...DAMN that must be some five star red lobster.

The food and service deserve 5 stars! Our server Beau was very informative and attentive. The food was excellent, my husband and I both had steaks that were flavorful and tender. Our biggest compromise was deciding if we finish our steak or the sides! We had the corn, asparagus and buttermilk potatoes...the corn and mashed left our typical favorite (asparagus) in the dust! The only reason we didn't give Duo a 5 is the view. It's a missed opportunity given the extraordinary surroundings. We requested a table toward the beach and still had a decent view but much of the sunset was obstructed. Still a fabulous meal and highly recommended!

Bottom line up front: would I come back again?... No. The food is decent and the service as well but there are a lot of restaurants here and I would try others before coming back. Nothing really stood out except the waitress promised bread twice but failed to deliver- had to ask another waiter. The steak (kobe) was Outback quality and the wife didn't finish her salmon. We prefer the Kirkland salmon grilled at 350 degrees for 20 minutes and sprinkle it with lemon on a conventional oven while watching a rerun of So You Think You Can Dance over the salmon here. That said. Here are the positives. Ask for their Kama' aina rate! Buy one entree and get another entree free! (With Hawaii license). For some reason, you can't get an entree and get an appetizer free but it's a free entree so can't complain! The entree options are mostly fish and steak (about 5 Steak and 4 fish options). The local catch must be popular because they sold out when we dined. And request for some free cotton candy at the end! Pleasant surprise!!

We ate here for breakfast nearly every morning during our stay. It is wonderful. Staff anticipate your every need. There is a buffet and regular menu. My husband loved the French toast. I had eggs Benedict and skillet eggs. Both wonderful. Dinner was excellent as well. Steak was delicious. Salad and onion soup were great!

Good tasty ribeye! Gorgeous ocean views, right on the beach! They had a nice lady making ballon animals for the children! It was a bit overpriced I thought! The service was great !

Great service, quality, and view! We did the $69 all you can eat raw bar (thurs-sat), and it was the best value on the island! There were 3 kinds of oysters to choose from (kushi, kumomoto, eagle) lobster tails, king crab legs & claws, ceviche, poke, wakame salad + choice of soup/salad & fresh-cut, steak fries. we were stuffed & satisfied!

We went with our friends for breakfast. Beautiful view, nice service but horribly over priced for what we received. For $26.00 we got the huevos rancheros which consisted of a tortilla, a small layer of black beans, two eggs a little bit of salsa and that's it! It dwarfed the plate. We make that at home for about $2.00. Our bill was almost $200.00 with 4 bloody Mary's. Won't do that agIn!

We had a great meal at Duo! Thursday-Saturday the offer an all you can eat raw bar ($69.99) which is what got us in the door. You walk right by the raw bar on your way to your table so you have a chance to scope out the offerings (for details - see list in reviews from others). I realized I wouldn't eat enough to justify the cost, but my my hubby had about 3plates of king crab (his favorite), plus many of the other offerings. (I even sampled a few oysters from one of his raw bar runs up, yummy). He was thoroughly satisfied. Also, it's a RAW bar so everything is served chilled (but not necessarily raw). I started with the tartare Duo (Steak on one side, Island Snapper on the other) and followed it with the American Style Kobe Flatiron. Both were delicious. (BTW, if you have never tried a flatiron steak ask your server to describe it as the cut isn't for everyone. If you like flatiron, then go for it!) Wine was a bit pricey so we stuck to a couple of glasses. Specialty cocktails were not the strongest, but mighty mighty tasty .... my drink was so good that I scribbled the ingredients on our bar receipt for at home mixing! Dessert was large enough for us to share (and so pretty we took a picture). Instead of mints they bring cotton candy with the check (I think it was sour grape the night we were there - was better than standard carnival flavor and very light). Server was super friendly and managed the perfect balance of being laid-back & professional. Nice open dining room situated near the pool makes you really feel like you are relaxing in a tropical destination (which you are)!

Worst dinner on the island. 8 people, $1,500 later terrible food, service and no apologies. They were out of high end chilled white wine, waitstaff needs so much more training. The heat was unbearable, it's tough to eat when sweating bullets. The Tomahawk was overcooked, asparagus woody and tough. Steak tartare was bland and needed additional toast points which we requested but didn't receive. Every other place we ate was a better quality and value. We never saw a manager and cocktails took forever. NEVER again, so disappointing.

Best place ever! the one star reviewer??? really??? The waitress was awesome, the raw seafood bar guy was the coolest, and since i live here, I'm excited to go to their brunch!! no place like it on maui, Four Seasons- it's a must that you keep up the good work!! mahalo to all the worker bees for making the four seasons what it is!!!

Food quality is good but prices are absurd for what you get. Its left me feeling unsatisfied. The cotton candy at the end is a nice touch and ingredients are fresh. I probably wouldn't go back unless I hit the lottery.

Great restaurant, views. Outdoor under umbrellas but they bring over heat lamps if you are cold. They have a kids menu and teen menu too. I had the salmon which was great and my wife had the filet mignon. She said it was one if the best filets she has ever had. They brought cotton candy after dinner.

My husband and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary at Duo. The experience was intimate, romantic and delicious. First the wine menu is on an ipad. It was unique and cute. We started with the ceasar salad and the crab cakes. Both were fresh and delicious. Next my husband had the porterhouse and I had the bone in rib eye. Both were delicious but the rib eye (my FAVORITE CUT) was the hands down big winner of this meal. It was so juicy and perfectly red in the middle. With both of our meals we added a side of lobster plus we also had a side of mash that was good enough for the both of us to share. We had plenty of left overs and had no room for dessert which was okay because each meal ends with a mound of cotton candy and they even gave us some chocolates which said Happy Anniversary. I watched an episode of Top Chef recently which said people come to a restaurant for the food but return because of the service. I wish I remembered the name of our server but he and his crew were soo good. I want to come back for the Raw Bar soon. We'll be back!

We have had the breakfast here 2 times now just to make sure the first time was not a fluke. Both times were superb! The food was not over the top but very fresh, delicious abundant, the servers Sandy the other day and Michael today are what set apart servers and service from the others we have tried, the others were great these two and other staff here are just that much better!!!

Blah. I was very disappointed with this restaurant. With the crazy expensive prices I thought I would be getting an amazing dinner, but I was wrong. When we called for reservations the hostess told us there was a seafood buffet. When we got there, there were about 5 things on the COLD buffet. Sorry I don't like crab legs cold! This was a major let down. The bar seats about 5 people :( The tables look like picnic benches.... I ordered the opakapaka and my husband ordered the filet. I returned mine because it was simply untastey. My husband's steak was EXTREMELY small! I understand fine dining restaurants don't give huge meals, but this was ridiculous! His steak tasted fine (normal). The only reason why I'm giving 2 stars is because the service wasn't horrible and the lobster bisque was pretty good.

Came here for breakfast twice while staying at the Four Seasons. Breakfast is a must have here while in the area. My wife and I tried out the corned beef hash, breakfast quesadilla, huevos rancheros, and the fruit platter. All were very well sized and delicious. They also throw in a fun juice shooter. Coffee and juice are quite overpriced ($4.50 and $7 each, respectively), so I'd pass on those (especially because coffee is free RIGHT outside the resturaunt), that's my only tip.

  • Chris L.

My steak was very good, but we waited a long time for our food and it was not hot. Found the Mac and cheese disappointing. Service started out good but as soon as they got busy, it went downhill. We waited so long for the waiter to come back after we finished our meal that the desserts we planned on no longer interested us. Bottom line: not worth the money. I would not go back.

not good their night season all you can eat is Red Lobster quality like super super low end, worst Caesar salad ever (how can you mess that up) and French Onion Soup tasted like Dennys made it. Breakfast buffet has tons of chooses but the quality is NOT even close to Four Seasons just everything is avg at best. There is no real Chef here and no love or care about food. Really need to shape up otherwise this is a rip off. Room and atmosphere is good.

This was a disgusting breakfast buffet. The food was either overcooked or undercooked. Even the bacon was disgusting!!! I took a few tastes and just had to leave. Avoid going to breakfast here!! I thought the four seasons would have had more quality

Finally a place that doesn't charge $20 for a kids meal!! They only charge about $8 for an entree along with 2 sides! They give your child some crayons and a the menu which you can color on, if thats not enough for your child (like mine) they give you these connectable blocks which gave us some time to eat our dinner in peace. Food was really good! We did the all you can eat raw bar, and I have to say its worth every penny! I must have eaten like a dozen of raw oysters on my own, which were very fresh! We will definitely be back to Duo next time we are in town.

I had the opportunity to eat at Duo on four occaisions during my recent stay at the Four Seasons in Wailea - once for brunch and three times for dinner. While I have to say I didn't have a bad meal there, I also probably wouldn't seek it out for a repeat unless I was staying at the hotel. For brunch, we went with the buffet option because it was the first day of vacation and why the hell not? I ended up eating the special (pina colada waffles - yum!), so I could have saved my grandma a few bucks that way. There are so many options on the brunch buffet, including a whole gluten-free selection of breads and pastries. On the dinner front... I was most satisfied with my meal when I went with the catch of the day (once in the prix fixe option, once in a nightly special). The other dishes were just OK... not anything memorable to write about here. I had to break with my g-free ways to go with the banana toffee bread pudding, which was well worth the amount of albuterol I had to suck down later. Both times. Bottom line: It's great if you're already at the 4 Seasons, but don't necessarily make a special trip. If the brunch special calls, forgo the buffet unless you're crazy hungry. And always, always, order the catch of the day.

I got the aged rib eye. So good best rib eye I have ever had and I know my steaks. My wife got the seafood buffet which included crab legs, lobster tails, shrimps, and oysters. WOW. Had a side of mac and cheese which was amazing as well. So full almost didn't get desert which would have been a mistake. Got the banana pudding toffee desert. It was so good. At the end of the meal they give you cotton candy, it was perfect taste to end night. Service was amazing. Is outdoor restaurant with an inside section and canopy so nice. Had nice view of beach and sunset as well. Great restaurant.

Aged Bone In Prime Rib Eye, cooked medium. Didn't have as much flavor as I would have hoped. Temperature wise, it was cooked perfectly. Somehow the flavor of the meat didn't come through. The sweet corn was very good and went well with the steak. Raw Bar, 3 types of oysters, ceviche, poki, shrimp, Alaskan king crab, kona lobster tails. The selection of oysters alone made the buffet worth it. I didn't particularly like the kona lobsters at all. I'm a Maine lobster kind of gal. Refer to my other reviews on Maine lobsters :) Everything in the raw bar buffet was fresh and well worth the $65 price tag. Strawberry Crumble Float w Vanilla Ice Cream - OMG good. Tangy and sweet with a little fizz to top it all off. Loved it. Chocolate Souffle, not very sweet, lacked the sweetness of milk chocolate cake. The raspberry sauce and vanilla ice cream were great as well. We received complementary cotton candy as a parting treat from the restaurant. What a sweet gesture :)

We ate here frequently for the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet while staying at the Four Seasons. They provide a amuse-bouche of the daily smoothy which is invariably tasty and refreshing. The food selection is outstanding as can be expected. The only things missing were whipped cream for pancakes/waffles and biscuits and gravy. I am sure these things could have easily been done for us if we asked. The service was superb even though this is a buffet. Grab a bite, enjoy the view and breeze, and try not to become comatose from overstuffing your belly. We also ate here dinner one night. The highlight was the sampler shellfish appetizer. I got the sea bass (Pacific) and tenderloin. Food at dinner not as good as during breakfast but still pretty darn good. The service remained top drawer.

Burt says - High end dining with an incredible location. Special occasion worthy. Incredible space. Sitting pool side on a beautiful Maui night. Great menu with much to choose from. Burt's waiter was named Bo. Super nice guy. Very helpful. Burt had filet and sea bass with a lobster tail side. The filet and onions were perfect. Sea bass and lobster were a bit over cooked. Burt's broad had catch of the day. Very good This place lives up to the location. Mahalo bitches!!!

We went there for the raw bar seafood buffet with a friend. The buffet is only available on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. For $69 pp, you get either Maui onion soup or caesar salad, fries and unlimited trips to the raw bar which offers 3 types of fresh oysters, poke tuna, various seafood salads, king crab legs, prawns, mini lobster tails, and crab craws. My friend and I are raw seafood fans so we were I heaven. My partner ordered Mahi Mahi from the menu instead and It was equally good. The butter sauce was amazing. A big ball of cotton candy to share from the restaurant at the end of the meal was a nice touch to round up a festive dinner while on vacation. We stayed at the Fairmont next door and tried almost all the restaurants in both hotels including Spago. DUO was by far the best and offered the best value. Our reservation was the first seating at 5:30pm so we had our choice of table and we were seated right at the outside corner of the patio overlooking the ocean and had an uninstructed view of the sunset. A lovely dinner to end our first vacation to the island.

We only did the breakfast buffet which was a part of our package. We considered dinner but didn't see anything on the menu "we had to have". Breakfast was yummy and the buffet was way better than room service food or ordering off of the menu. Tips--don't fill up too early and scout out the "specials" that change each day. These include pastries, certain buffet dishes, the special at the grill area, and the bagel section with more baked goodies. The cook at the grill was good and super fast. His omelets and french toast were awesome! There are birds everywhere so don't leave your plate unattended and you might want to check for droppings. There's not much they can do--I'd still rather have the birds than bugs. The service is in general good, although we had a couple misses. Definitely a nice way to start the morning with the food and a faxed NY Times. : )

MY RATING IS FOR THE RAW BAR If you like oysters, the raw bar is excellent. I did sample the other offerings, but I was there for the oysters and that is what I had the most of. The variety was excellent, the oyster quality was clean and fresh as ever. My culinary experience was delightful. The dining setting is indoor/outdoor which was absolutely lovely until someone's kids nearly dove on top of our table. But I'm sticking with my 5 star rating because the staff even managed the unruly kids well. (I'd give the parents of those kids 1 star.) The staff was attentive and excellent. The meats, soups, and salads we had were also all quite good. The ingredients seemed to be of good quality, and THAT is something I prize highly in my dining experiences. I really enjoyed my dinner here. And while you should expect to pay around $100 per person, I think it's well worth it if that is what you are comfortable spending. I had heard about it, looked forward to it, and was not disappointed. Will definitely go back if I'm in the neighborhood on one of their Raw Bar days.

Stayed at the Four Season and Duo was where the breakfast buffet was set up. For $35 what a disappointment! I understand it's Maui but to just have various breakfast pastries, omelet bar, and a few hot dishes, and regular continental breakfast items so not worth the price! Nothing special except the little fresh veggie & fruit juice shot you get! Of course the view is spectacular!

  • Dan L.

Complete disappointment. Had the lobster bisque to start. It was heavy cream sitting on top of butter! It wasn't soup it was horrible. We had shisito peppers and they we soaked in oil and over cooked. The steaks were very thin for what you would expect from a high end place at the four seasons. Overall food was a one star! I have two because the service was very good. They need to get it right or the four seasons should kick these guys out!

If you are staying in Wailea amid the masses and looking for some special treatment and some special food, this may be the best, or one of the best places for dinner. In typical Four Seasons fashion, the service and the food are designed to make each patron happy as an individual. We attempted to get reservations at Duo the same day we checked in next door at the Grand (Crowds of) Wailea and were politely told that there just wasn't room for us that evening at a time that would work for us and our teenaged children. We instead went with Plan B, which was to watch the nightly performance at the Wailea from a safe poy-less distance and then take a walk to see what our options were. When we stopped at Duo to take another look at the menu, one of the waitstaff came out and asked if we'd like to table. The next thing we knew, he was talking to the hostess and we had what may have been the best table in the house with a view of the fountain and pool. The restaurant is mainly outdoors and the setting is peaceful and quiet. We found the service to be professional as one would expect from a Four Seasons restaurant, but also very friendly. Our kids were very pleased that there was a "Teen Menu" available to them. This was a first for us. They are at that age (12 and 14) where they turn down children's menus. They were absolutely delighted to be offered a Teen Menu just for them. Duo is in concept a blend of the best from the sea and the best from the land. There is an impressive seafood counter when you walk in and the restaurant offers a $69 all-you-can-eat seafood option that allows you to have unlimited poke, oysters, lobster and other goodies from this counter. If you are hungry and like seafood, I'd recommend this option. We decided to do a sampling of things. We ended up having lobster tails, spicy ahi poke, asparagus, mashed potatoes and a variety of local mushrooms sauteed in garlic and olive oil. Everything was just excellent. The lobster was firm, but tender with just the right amount of drawn butter. The poke was an absolute standout and, having already spent a week on another island enjoying great poke, I have to say I was pretty picky about poke at this stage of the trip. It was generous chunks of very fresh ahi with just the right amount of flavor and heat to add to, rather than cover up the flavor. While everything was excellent, the real standout turned out to be the mushrooms, which were probably the most flavorful mushrooms I've ever had, including those beloved porcinis used in Italian cooking. The evening was capped off for the kids with a root beer float from the Teen Menu and generous amounts of housemade cotton candy. I should also mention that the wine list, though impressive, also offered some very nice values. You can have a very nice wine with your dinner without feeling like you are breaking the bank. If you do want to break the bank, they can absolutely help you with that too. Whether it is a romantic dinner for two or an excellent family meal with kids 12 or older (in my opinion), Duo is a great restaurant that will not disappoint any member of your party.

Superb ambience and good food at Duo made for a special evening out. We tried the famous Tuesday night raw bar ($89.99 and no special prices for kids) and it was well-stocked with smaller oysters on the half shell, small lobster tails/claws, and regular sized king crab legs. They also had two different types of poke. Free Caesar salad and/or French onion soup and fries also come with the raw bar. But who wants to fill up on that when there's an entire bar of seafood to eat?! Joking aside, these "free" items did help break up the flavors throughout the meal and keep us going back for more :)

We ate here last night on our trip, and it was definitely NOT worth the money. I ordered a New York steak with lobster tail on the side, and what a joke. My steak was one of the most flavorless I've had. I think my husband makes better tasting steaks on our barbecue back at home. And to pay $54 for one like that is outrageous. The lobster tail also was very small and difficult to dig out of the shell and did not have a good flavor. You know, if you can't make good surf n turf on Hawaii, don't base an entire restaurant around it. My husband ordered the flat iron steak, and it stated on the menu that it was an 8 oz steak. When he received it, it was about half the size of mine, looking to be about 4 oz. His was also unremarkable as well. When we called our waiter's attention to it, he alerted management about our complaint. The manager came back with the story that it was really 6 oz, but there was a misprint on the menu. What a bunch of baloney. There was no effort made to compensate us for their lies on the menu. We would NEVER eat here again, and while we enjoyed having a drink at the Four Seasons bar, I doubt that I would ever stay at that Four Seasons because of the way they treated us at the restaurant. Maybe they're under a different management, but I would hope the hotel would take a look at the poor food they're serving there. Just gives the hotel a bad name as a total tourist trap.

I loved my dinner at Duo. The service was fantastic and everything we tried was great, and loved that their drink menu/wine list is on an iPad. We tried the Maui onion soup and it was probably the best I've ever had. I also loved the filet and the side of lobster mac and cheese was unreal. Everything went smoothly, and I hope to return again during my next visit to Maui. Highly recommend at sunset!

We went to Duo for one of our honeymoon dinners. The service was what you expect of a high end restaurant - excellent. The food was ok. My wife and I both ordered fish - I got the opakapaka and she got the ahi tuna. It was good quality fish - I think the best way to describe it was bland. It was not the best fish we had on the trip and may not have been in the top 5 honestly. I guess I just assumed a 180$ bill would not have missed on the taste of the fresh fish. I would not come back to duo.

Amazing. Amazing. RAW BAR. Tuesdays. Get it before they decide we are eating all the food!! Crab legs. Crab claws. Lobster tails. Lobster claws. Four different types of oysters. Shucked for you after you pick them. By a funny as hell awesome guy behind the bar. Poached scallops. Poke ceviche. Seaweed salad. SHRIMP. All kinds of sauce. Can't even begin to describe the French onion soup it comes with. $70. I would pay double. Four Seasons quality amazing amazing seafood. Get it!!!!!

We had to get up to get our own bread which I thought was strange for a fine dining establishment. The salad was completely drenched in dressing. That shoulda been a clue as to how the rest of dinner was going to be. We both ordered medium plus for our steaks. His rib eye came out medium. My flat iron came out well done. The manager apologized and they made another one for me. In the meantime he brought out a lobster bisque for me while I waited. It was lukewarm. The second steak was so incredibly salty I couldn't eat more than the first bite. My husband ate the little lobster and left his rib eye which he said wasn't good. A very disappointing experience to say the least. They comped us for our whole meal except the bottle of wine we ordered, and we tipped on all the food we didn't eat. I would've rather eaten dinner.

If you're interested in seafood and like a challenge, go to Duo on a Tuesday night. Their all you can eat raw bar (not all raw by the way) is an excellent deal if you're hungry. Sure, it costs something like $70/person, but when you think about the prices for THAT MUCH seafood in the resort rich, over priced Wailea/Makena area, you realize you might actually be getting a deal! The service was fabulous, and the location was very beautiful. We were a bit disappointed when the only reservation we could get was at 5:45, but it actually ended up being perfect. We beat the rush and got to enjoy the sunset from their beautiful pool-side location.

Gorgeous restaurant situated in the Four Seasons! Some girlfriends and I had dinner here while we were in town and we took full advantage of the raw bar. $70 for all you can eat seafood? Sold! Everything was super fresh and we gorged on crab legs, poke, prawns, lobster etc. The service was exceptional and you can't beat the view.

We came to Duo for breakfast. Be prepared to spend quite a bit here if you come; if I remember correctly, a plate of plain pancakes is $22. If you like smoothies, they can create a smoothie of your choice. They have a pretty extensive buffet, if you'd rather not order off the menu. The quality of the food was great, but service was a bit slow compared to other restaurants we've been to on our trip.

On our seven night honeymoon to 2 islands in Hawaii, the most mediocre meal was a dinner at Duo. What we DID like: -the interactive cocktail menus on an iPad, complete with cocktail of the day -the cocktails themselves -our server (can't remember her name but remember her saying she was from the Napa area) -breakfast What could be IMPROVED: -quality of the dinner offerings: my salad was satisfactory, if not boring, but the mushroom falafel entree was not pleasing to the palate (there was a sauce that looked/tasted like grass clippings and an entirely too smoky vegan "cream" and the falafel was mushy). My husband liked his Maui onion soup, but disliked the cut of the snapper he received and found the flavors to be one note -Pricing: see above. For these prices, we'd prefer the food to be more tasty.

We had the breakfast buffet. The food was a five, the service was a six (is that allowed?) but the price was... a lot! I mean A LOT. Fresh fruit? Perfectly ripe and delicious. How often does a buffet just scoop out the melon? Lox and bagel? Not the best bagel. Maui is not NYC. Still, everything tasted great, especially the fresh and ripe tomatoes. Those were not from Safeway. Bacon? Thick cut. Yummy. Omelet? Order at the window. I had shrimp, avocado, and spinach with cheddar cheese. The cook did a great job. Fluffy and delicious. French toast? Cinnamon-yummy. Moist and great. Belgian waffle? Light and crispy. I make Belgian waffles at home. Now I know that I do a terrible job. I am so ashamed. Our waiter was a delight. He mostly knew what I wanted before I asked, and when I did ask, I'd get half the words out before he was already giving me what I wanted. I've eaten at some fine restaurants, and nobody has ever given such service... but it gets better. It was my birthday. So the waiter runs off and comes back with happy birthday written onto a piece of white chocolate with berries surrounding and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. Er ma gerd. Yeah, he got a nice tip. Then they rolled me out of there on a wheelbarrow. And the valet parking was free, but I did tip. Seems like people don't do that much anymore.

My request for a table with a nice view of the sunset was well noted and we got the best table in the house! Food was great, service was good. Out server and bus person were very attentive and took their time to serve our needs. The mahi-mahi was very fresh, served over noodles. The Slow Braised Short Ribs was so tender, it almost melted in the mouth and the sauce that accompanied it was very tasty! Nice little digital equipment with pictures and description of drinks was handed to us for our perusal...

OMG! Just excellent! Went to DUO this past Friday to celebrate 2 friends birthdays. It was their market night, they also had live music. We got to sit outside near the pool and watch the sunset. The service was excellent, everyone was so nice and very attentive. I'm a pick eater and didn't eat the sides that came with my meal and they were so accomedating, I was able to choose the 2 sides I wanted. We all had the ribeye, excellent! So tasty and cooked just the way I wanted. We also all had their make your own sundae for dessert. We were all stuffed and then they brought out candy for the birthday girls. We had a fabulous time, can't wait to to go back.

Duo is class act every way you slice it. I decided to make reservations here for my dad's 70th birthday and I'm so glad I did. The atmosphere is simply beautiful with ample outdoor seating overlooking the pool and the ocean. The service is impeccable. Beau was our server and he seems like one of the nicest people on earth. Extremely passionate about his job and delivering a memorable experience for his guests. The food was also great, but I think it's the more of the experience that gives this restaurant 5 stars. Portions are small, but found that by sharing a salad and ordering my own entree I was satisfied. Most of us went with the catch of the day which was mahi mahi. It was cooked to perfection. For dessert our table tried two of the mini ice cream sandwiches (yum!) and the Creme brûlée. My favorite part was the truffle plate they brought out with a "happy birthday" written in dark chocolate on a white chocolate ribbon. It was such a nice touch! I hear from the locals that the brunch at Duo is one of the best in town. I may need to try that while here, too!

Although this was very pricey, the food and atmosphere at the Four Seasons was hard to beat. Their patio has views of the hotel grounds, pool and ocean. The table ordered: -the steak salad (which is more steak with some greens around it) with the Chimichurri sauce...really really tasty. -the seafood trio (lobster tail, scallop and shrimp) - all were delicious - the truffle mac and cheese was over the top rich and a couple bites were enough but very good. - the mini ice cream sandwiches for dessert are definitely the way to go!

Best steakhouse on Maui in my opinion. We were lucky enough to eat here on a recent Friday night when they feature their market menu - basically a create your own, all-you-can-eat salad and charcuterie bar. We chose to both start our evening with the market menu options, then also ordered a filet and the fish special (fresh Hawaiian striped marlin). The fish was excellent in flavor and preparation and came with a delicious side of fresh Kula corn. The filet was a prime cut I picked out myself, and the temperature was spot on. The flavor was amazing and the sides of mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts were also great. The only drawback on the menu we found was the lack of good desserts - we are finding this to be true throughout Maui. Oh well. The service was very friendly and helpful and the view and surroundings at the Four Season are stunning. Overall - very, very good! Iced Tea Rating: 3 stars. Good tea, but not enough refills :-(

Raw bar review. $90 for 3 kinds of oysters, some poke, skinny crab legs, small claws, small lobster tails...I mean seriously? Oh sorry you also get an onion soup or Caesars salad and fries. Lol. I was expecting this great raw bar with at least some sashimi...very disappointing. It's not what you think so don't even waste your money. Literally when I saw the spread I thought wait where's the rest. I happened to stay at the Four Seasons and it was our last night so went for it. With dessert and wine I was $300 dollars poorer.

Saturday, April 25th- 8pm-9:30pm I made a reservation via opentable and requested a nice table as we were celebrating my Fiancé's 30th birthday! We got there 15 minutes earlier just to be safe. We got our car valet and they directed us to the direction of Duo. You go to the left and down the stairs. You enter and it is a beautiful setting with a nice waterfall pool across the way. SERVICE: Our server was Chad, he was VERY knowledgable about the menu; from the drinks to how the Chef prepares our food. He explained everything and answered any questions we had. DRINKS: LAVA FLOW- it was a little weak. We also got a beer and a bottle of red wine, but that's pretty self explanatory. FOOD: CRAB CAKES(Maui Honey, calamansi aoli, avocado, fennel frisée salad): SO AMAZING!!! I could probably eat 10 of them!! Also, the chef split the appetizer on to 2 plates which we really appreciated. AMERICAN WAGYU FLAT IRON CUT(Sherry mustard Demi, roasted vegetables): I think this was 6 or 8oz. It was so delicious. The sauce was great and the vegetables was perfect. What made it over the top was it was cooked to PERFECTION!!! A perfect medium! LOCAL ISLAND FISH(Millet & kula corn Tabouleh, pea purée, shaved fennel salad) I think the corn had some vinegar in it. I'm not a big fan of a lot of vinegar, but the fish and salad was great! Tonight the fish was Mahi. The Mahi was so soft & flaky that it just melted in my mouth! I could eat that everyday. TRUFFLED LOBSTER MAC & CHEESE: You have to try this out!!! Chunks of lobster in this amazing cheese sauce perfectly cooked to perfection! I would have been fine eating this as my entrée it was so delicious! BUTTERMILK MASHED POTATOES: This was good also, but I think our other choices outshine the taste of this so we didn't really rave about the potatoes. However, they were so creamy I had to keep eating it! CHOCOLATE SOUFFLÉ(scoop of vanilla ice cream and a side of raspberry coulis(?) I think that's how you spell it.) Chad said it would take about 15 minutes which was perfect, have me enough time to rest my stomach. The soufflé was so lightweight and had good taste, but the coulis... WOW! I mean WOW! I broke the soufflé open and poured it in the middle. It would be amazing on some waffles!! It was just simply delicious and I LOVED EVERY SINGLE BITE! All in all I'm really glad Duo was recommended to me! I could not think of a better place to spend my fiancé's 30th. This experience was AMAZING, PERFECT & EXTREMELY DELICIOUS! And I'm thinking about making Duo the place to spend our special occasions! My future husband and I had an amazing time! Compliments & many thanks to the chef/chefs and Chad for seriously the PERFECT night! We had an extremely amazing time! Expensive($300+,including tip), but perfectly worth every penny for us.

Beautiful set up and great service! We ordered the catch of the day and I could have cooked that better. Fish was dry and tasteless. Everything we ordered was overcooked and the taste did not match with the price we paid.

My wife and I had the joy of staying at the Four Seasons Maui in May and we had zero expectations of Duo. All we knew was that the restaurant was located inside the hotel and that our kids eat there for free (plus). We went there our first night and the view of the ocean was fantastic, the ambiance was really mellow and relaxed. Exactly what you want in a restaurant while on vacation. Service was on point, we had a really mellow guy (maybe a surfer seemed like it) but he knew the menu and was really attentive without being in your face too much. The bus service was fantastic, guys were really great. Food was excellent and I had seriously no expectations. I mean really good. We enjoyed our experience so much that we decided to hit the brunch on our last day and it was equally as good. It's hard to complain when you have such a nice location and views of the ocean.

After having a meh experience at Ferrarros (another Four Seasons restaurant) we opted to try Duo and were pleasantly surprised! Indoor/outdoor seating options available which was a bonus since most restaurants are open air. Our server was exceptional and took care of noticing we liked the sour dough bread and continued to refill the basket (carb overload but oh so good!) I ordered the kale/strawberry salad (off of the "wellness" menu), scallops (two for $29) and my husband ordered the bone in ribeye steak ($100). We shared the lobster mac (to die for) and attempted to not leave one noodle but were both pleasantly plump from the wonderful meal. We passed on the complimentary cotton candy dessert - (which didn't fit in with the menu and restaurant theme) but who can complain about a complimentary dessert? We enjoyed the meal and service so much we'll be back before we leave Maui.

Went there for our anniversary. Made a reservation for 7:30 Jimmy the manager as well as a hostesses welcomed us and said we have been expecting you mr. Suetos. sat us down facing the ocean side. Maria was our server (very friendly and knowledgeable) ordered crab cakes and the dry aged bone in ribeye that came with onion rings and lobster and smoked aioli sauce. I swear you could dip everything into it and it. Time spread was perfect with sourdough bread for starters followed by the crab cakes then main dish. Crab cakes- fluffy, light don't remember the sauce that was spread on the plate. Light amount of vegi. Steak- marbled and I had it done medium. Could cut it with my knife. Hands down bests steak ever. Even dipping it into the lobster dip set it that much higher.the onion rings were huge with sweet onion which balanced out the meal. Dipped those into the dip as well.

HO. LY. CRAP. Dinner: There were 4 of us and we all chose to do the dinner buffet. You get a soup or salad with it and I tried the french onion soup. I usually like everything but the cheese on top was so thick (I love cheese btw) that I took two small bites and was done. Now, the buffet... that was a magical experience! All you can eat lobster tails, king crab legs, snow crab claws, ceviche, 3 different types of poke, prawns, scallops, etc. SO worth it! We also ordered the tomahawk steak and it was perfectly cooked!! Definitely one of the best steaks I've ever had. Breakfast: We had the breakfast buffet several times. It was a little hectic at times BUT there was a great selection. The highlights for me were the bagel and lox, belgian waffle and the make your own omelette. The bloody was pretty good also. They do to-go plates also!

Ridiculous prices, screaming kids, broken Bearnaise, sashimi overpowered by a citrusy sauce are just a few negatives that stand out. That said, the tomahawk ribeye was cooked to perfection, waiter was pretty competent and desserts were well executed.

Is it redundant to update my previous five star review with another five star review?! It kinda is, but I just can't help it. Completely speechless is what Christmas Eve dinner left our party of 16. Utterly speechless, full and happy. The service (as always) was on point and completely perfect. The chefs had just rolled out a new menu the week prior and I'm happy to report, everything our party tried was amazing. Ahi, chicken, filets, skirt steak salad (my personal favorite), catch of the day, fish and chips--all spectacular. Again Duo, thank you for a wonderful night and a great dining experience.

Duo is a gem in Maui. If you are with your lover, maybe this is the best restaurant you can go in Maui. Great ambience. Especially dry aged bone-in- ribeye is out of question. Seafood is a little short of our expectation.

Duo is the best restaurant at the four seasons, and really in Maui. Everything you order is flavorful, and melts in your mouth. However, what's even better? The service! The hostesses to the servers to the managers. Everyone is soooo nice. Literally nothing is too much to ask for. Ron is my main man. I love him, he has my chocolate soufflé ready for me if I eat dinner at another restaurant. Go here. Ask for Ron, and order chocolate soufflé! Also on Friday they have market night which is amazing. You can pick out your own cut of meat!

We were happy and very pleased with this dinner service. Food was excellent. Ambiance was excellent. Service was excellent. Started off with the seared scallop over buttered leek sauce. Had the filet for dinner but subbed the preparation for blue cheese crusted...it was delish. A greatly prepared steak, and cooked to perfection. Ended the meal with chocolate souffle and then the restaurant's grape cotton candy. Great meal. At a restaurant like this you expect good service; and from the greeting by the hostess, to service by the wait staff, everything was great. Our waitress was very personal and informative on food selections. If you are in wailea, I would recommend a stop to this restaurant. It was a highlight on our trip.

This review is for the seafood buffet only. Food: Excellent! Three oyster choices and all were delicious and very fresh. Lobster tail was good and the crab legs and claws were even better. The other smaller dishes were also good. The selection was not huge, but I really came here for lobster, crab, and oysters so I was more than satisfied. There was also a very nice selection of sauces for all the food. Service: Perfection. This is the gold standard of service. Staff was extremely professional, friendly, and accommodating. At one point we wanted to try the lobster hot (the seafood is all on ice). The chef collected our selections and heated it up for us. Awesome. Drinks were refilled quickly and dirty plates were removed promptly as well. Etc: Yes it's not cheap. But you get what you pay for. Top notch food and service. I walked from another hotel so I can't comment on the parking. But the decor and location are excellent. Even though our table was outdoor, there were no flies or other insects to deal with. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for an AYCE cold seafood buffet!

Excellent food and incredible service! Beau was the server; highly recommend asking for his table. He's probably the nicest guy you'll ever meet. Had the rib eye, which was cooked to perfection, along with mac and cheese and asparagus. This place would have received four stars due to their drink menu. Markup was much higher than most. Selling 2010-2011 Silver Oak Cabs for $225/bottle. However, I asked for Maker's and Coke ($15) and Beau brought me a large glass half-filled with Maker's and another glass of Coca-Cola and mixed it in front of me. It was pretty much a double-Maker's and Coke. Awesome! I also left my credit card in the bill folder and Beau ran all the way up to valet as I was getting into my car to give me my card. That's why this place gets five stars. Highly recommend!

Where do I start? We came to celebrate our anniversary my husband did the raw bar which was so fresh so yummy and so much choices. I had the waka beef and it was amazing it was so flavorful. Our service was amazing. The gave us Apple cotton candy and little candies of happy anniversary. Since we got married at a four seasons it was so nice to celebrate at a four seasons.

Absolutely HORRIBLE!! How this restaurant has more than one star baffles me! My medium rare steak was medium well, so tough to eat my jaw started to hurt! Not to mention the $300 bill at the end of the night for 3 entrees, 4 drinks and 2 appetizers. Don't waste your time or money. Just because it says Four Seasons out front doesn't mean you're going to get great food and service. Today we ate at MonkeyPod and it was awesome! Go there instead.

One of the most expensive and worst meals we had in Hawaii. It was very overpriced for a disappointing experience. I understand the candle setting ambiance they were trying to achieve, but if your patrons can't see the menu there must be something wrong. And then we were informed that they ran out of 'flashlights' ... Moving on, we started off with onion soups all around, which came out tepid, if even that. And it was just downhill from there. Meh. i think the morning brunch is a better deal and better service.

We went to Duo for the breakfast buffet 2 mornings in Maui this trip. This is by far the best breakfast buffet on the island. The price is comparable to the buffet at the Grand Wailea which wasn't even close to as good as this one. We had fresh fruit, made to order pancakes, omelets, tons of hot food options, toasts and pastries etc. They even had a kids buffet! It was fantastic! Service was great too.

This place is the bees knees!! Had dinner there last night and it was such a treat!! The service was top notch and every piece of food was delicious. People around town raved about this place and I can see why! I ordered the filet which was deeeelicious. The Mac n Cheese is to die for. Don't order desert because the dinner comes with a complimentary cotton candy place. Very different right!?! I would go back again in a heart beat! Enjoy! Aloha and mahalo!

I teach oceanfront yoga not too far away & came to Duo for dinner. The best thing about Duo was the service! Our waitress was so extremely nice & REAL. (I don't like it when people are fake nice :)) Oh AND THE CHAIRS ARE SO COMFORTABLE! Big plus. The least good thing was that our entrees (we both ordered the mahi mahi) were too salty, but the good thing is that I am sure they would have been understanding if we asked to send them back (but we didn't think of that until after). Under all the salt, I could tell it was delicious though, and would have been perfect otherwise. The awesome pink cotton candy at the end was a very nice touch! I loved it! (I love pink AND I love cotton candy, so it was perfect :))

Great breakfast variety! Varied tiers for the buffet so you only worry about paying for what you're planning to have. We ate there for dinner one night and really enjoyed the waygu Hawaiian beef. Amazing! My husband is vegetarian and they were very accommodating and offered to make something that wasn't on the menu! Above and beyond service in our experience.

Last night was our last night in Maui, so I suggested Duo, after having seen it in magazines and reading all the wonderful reviews. So my expectations were high, and my family didn't know what to expect. None of us were disappointed. We were seated immediately and had an ocean view, which was beautiful. My dad opted for the raw all you can eat bar (60$ per person), my mom got the monchong (fish), my brother got a cheeseburger, and I got the crispy chicken. I desperately wanted to order the bone-in prime rib, but since I was feeling queasy that day, I heartwrenchingly admitted to myself red meat would be the death of me. I was afraid that, like most high-end steakhouses I've been to, the poultry option, as the neglected choice, wouldn't compare to the steak and seafood, but I was sorely mistaken! It was deliciously crisp and juicy - the platonic ideal of roasted chicken. I substituted the polenta for onion rings (my mother had been craving Maui onion rings since our arrival and I wanted to share with her). We both agreed they were the best onion rings we've ever had! As for my dad, I sampled a little bit of the raw goods - oysters, lobster, crab, scallops, and other goodies - all were very fresh and delicious. The raw bar came with the option of soup or salad, so my dad got the Maui onion soup. Since he wanted to take full advantage of the raw bar, my mom and I split it. It was perfection in a deliciously soft bread and melty cheese crust. The monchong was also fantastic - perfectly seasoned and very tender. For dessert, our waiter brought out complimentary cotton candy. I don't like cotton candy, but I thought it was pretty cute and innovative - so unexpected for a steakhouse. Overall, Duo was perfect - great service, great views, and wonderful food. I will definitely return the next time I'm in Maui!

The $41 5oz fillet (w/ three pieces of asparagus) the $11 onion soup the $16 martini and the $60 raw bar I think Duo means you pay double for everything. The service was tentative but the overall meal and experience was not worth the cost. But on the bright side you get cotton candy with your bill.

While enjoying a week long stay at the Four Seasons, we dined at Duo twice. Once for breakfast and again for dinner. Breakfast was very good - lots of options at both the buffet and on the menu. It is pricey for what you get, but you have to expect that when you are at the Four Season, especially in Wailea where everything is at a premium. It is worth it for the service, the views and the quality of the food ($20 for four very small, thin whole grain pancakes, for example). But what the heck, we're worth it! Dinner was good - I enjoyed the petit filet and the hubby had the porterhouse. Both perfectly prepared. We had the truffle mac n cheese side dish and loved it. The only thing that kept the experience from rating 5 stars was that our server for dinner was quite odd. I don't know if he'd spent too much time surfing or enjoying other things the islands offer, but he was so spaced out, but also kinda in our faces. He startled us a few times by almost bounding to the table and crouching down to talk to us. He also never came by to see how our meals were and for an experience like that, that is a must! I did like the quiet, romantic ambiance at Duo and the menu selections were solid enough that we both struggled to decide what to have. Same was true for breakfast.

I had seared ahi; sister had filet mignon and grilled prawns. All so delicious. And then we saw the waitress hand off a plate with what looked like cotton candy to another customer. WE WANTED IT. To our delight, the waitress said it was complimentary with the bill. We also ordered the strawberry crumble float. It was tangy and sweet; not like those strawberry sodas that make your eyes pop out because of all the sugar. Everything was so good!

Probably the best dining experience I have ever had. I would get the Kobe strip, sweet maui onion soup and handcut fries for sure. Cocktails were outstanding as was the service. Johnny was our server and knew his menu, wine and pairings. Overall very impressive and the view of the ocean didn't hurt.

DUO is really not your a-typical seafood and steakhouse. Located inside the Four Seasons Wailea, Maui resort on the ground floor you'll find the two head "awesome chef dudes" shaking up the beef's status quo! I gave DUO the 5'th star because combining their amazing meal, along with breath taking views of the ocean, Four Season, and our sunset during dinner - it really does deserve the last star. We had DUO's "Three way" haiku tomato salad, honey-saffron, parsley & tomato aioli, brined Maui onions and House cut DUO fries - sweet & russet potatoes, truffle mayonnaise, béarnaise dip, as our starters. The tomato salad was so delicious, even my daughters who are not big veggie eaters gobbled up and licked the plate clean, ending with "Papa, can we make this at home next week, please?!" Our main course was the Washimi Hawaiian Origin American style Kobe Beef N.Y., with twice baked red potato truffle infusion. Melt in your mouth delicious'ness. Having had the fortune of sampling Kobegyu, Omigyu, Wagyu and various Australian and American counterparts in Japan and throughout North America, I can say DUO's Hawaiin steak was spot on. Our steaks were accompanied by local sustainable Kula Sweet Corn side and White Cheddar Truffle Mac & Cheese. The corn was so crisp, so sweat with the right balance of sea salt and a smitten of butter it literally cracked and was juicy in your mouth. White Cheddar alone would have been enough, but no - must add truffle to make this traditional meat accompaniment be the best it could be. Rich, creamy, soulfully flavored. Mac & Cheese, really doesn't get much better than DUO's. Lastly, be sure to check out the foyer bar with its chic contemporary decor and crowd of beautiful people, and take a peek into the state-of-the-art open kitchen. // spoiler alert // Surprise! DUO ends their meals with daily flavored cotton candy. Ours last night was Sour Apple. Quite the unexpected treat. Not knowing about this before hand made it all the more special.

I was dining at Duo steakhouse in Four seasons Resort Maui on 6/2/14 at 8:30pm. After we got seated, we saw a cockroach on the floor! We immediately reported to a staff, he did not saw it and he walked away to serve another table. Then, the cockroach was walked so fast to the back of my chair!! I was scared and i stood up and ran away. We told the waiter and he said he could move us to another table. We agreed and would like to give this restaurant another chance. The restaurant manager came by and apologized to us. We finished dining, but before we left. There was another big cockroach on the counter that next to me. My husband asked me to stood up and go, i got scared. and he killed the cockroach. The waiter saw it and immediately use a towel to picked up the dead cockroach and pretend nothing happen. I said we need to let the manager know because that is not right, not clean, and not appropriate for a 5 star hotel restaurant which got A at their door. The waiter stood next to the manager said "is very common to have cockroaches in Hawaii especially in an outdoor restaurant". REALLY??? The manager again just sigh and apologized to us and did nothing. Within an hour, we saw two cockroaches in different area of the restaurant is not normal and is totally unacceptable. We are completely dissatisfied with the services and health condition of this restaurant!

the best meal I've had in maui so far! went there for dinner. ordered the filet minion, buttermilk mashed potatoes, kula corn, and the truffle white cheddar mac and cheese. ALL DELICIOUS!!!! my brother also had the all you can eat raw bar which was kind of expensive but he said it was well worth it! the service is also fantastic. They also gave us complimentary cotton candy on our way out.

Came here for breakfast because we were tired of the buffet at our hotel. My wife had their buffet which had a larger selection of food. I had the steak and eggs with hash browns. My meal was DELICIOUS. Service was slow though. However, they were busy. They also gave out free smoothie samples. I believe it had kale in it. Very tasty.

Complementary valet parking @ the four seasons with no validation needed :) Wow! My husband wanted a steak, and one of the main reasons we went... But after seeing the RAW BAR, we both had to have! It's 60.00 for unlimited trips, and includes Maui onion soup, or Caesar salad and chef cut fries. Everything you can think of is on the raw bar. 3 different kinds of oysters, prawns,, lobster, king crab legs, ahi, poke, ceviche, and numerous other items. Top it all off with cotton candy, that comes with your check. Have to go back soon to order the steak! Saw many steaks delivered to tables near ours, and they looked awesome.

We had our wedding reception here for 22 people on 10/10/12 and were overwhelmed by the service and deliciousness of the food! The top sirloin was perfect, and might as well have been a filet. Truffle Mac & Cheese is to die for, as well as the diver scallops. Ron was over the top awesome with services as he was our "captain" for the evening. Beautiful atmosphere, great food, and an impressive wine list. Will be back again next year!

When my husband learned that they have an all-you-can-eat raw bar for $60, we had to make a reservation. It was a steal, IMO. Freshly shucked oysters, LOBSTER tails, and an assortment of poke & ceviche ... I don't do raw, so I went the rustic pork pâté route. I probably ate way too much pâté (it was fine, but I've had better). My wine cocktail did help everything go down nicely. It was a really wonderful drink. The sommelier makes them to order, picking a wine to suit your taste. The restaurant wasn't as pretty as the other two at the Four Seasons, but the service was just as nice. I didn't think the Maui onion soup was too special, though. It was only okay. A nice evening, but I wasn't blown away.

We have been coming here for about the last 3 years over winter break and this is definitely one of the places you must go if you happen to be on Maui or better yet in Wailea. The offer great seafood and superb steak, and for those who cant choose you can do what I do and get the best of both worlds...a killer steak with either a lobster tail or shrimp or scallops too. They definitely excel on the steak side the most I think, not only do they have nebraska corn fed beef, but they have kobe beef too! I got the bone in ribeye and it was one of the best pieces of steak I have ever had. The sides are extraordinary as well, whether you get the killer mac/cheese or the french fries or the sweet corn, which i think is hands down the best app they have you cant go wrong...however, I would stay away from the onion rings as they have a very odd/peculiar taste to them that I, nor my family, is not to fond of it. To end everything they bring you a nice heaping pile of cotton candy!

Wow. What a great restaurant. First time ever eating at the Duo at the Four Season's Resort and it was a special treat. Nearly every moment we were there was a wonderful experience. We were seated at a table that was in a high traffic area, but we could see the featured kitchen and the cooks and chefs preparing the evening meals. I was a little disappointed with the hostess station, as people would walk up to the podium and not be greeted for 5 to 10 minutes while the hostess juggled seating people. There definitely needed to be another person there. To me the mark of great service at a fine dining restaurant is when your drink is never empty, but servers are absent enough to not be intrusive. Our servers were always on top of our water glass, but kept clear so we could enjoy our evening. The 24oz dry-aged bone-in prime rib was like heaven on a plate. I NEVER eat the fat in beef, but for this prime rib I couldn't help myself! Every bite I took was a mixture of the most tender, juicy steak I've ever eaten and fat that was like butter melting in your mouth. My wife had the 3-course $49 special with the Filet Mignon, salad, and the mango creme brulee for dessert. Needless to say, we shared her sides and they were great. I also ordered a side of White Truffle Mac n Cheese and it was amazing. Served in a cast-iron skillet, it's like no other mac n cheese you've ever had before. Ending the night with a plate of cotton candy was a little odd, but a nice touch that we definitely enjoyed. Cotton candy doesn't last very long in these humid islands, so you gotta eat it quick! Or ask for it to go, and they'll bag up one for you. Tip for kama'aina: Let them know before you order or even better, when you make your reservations. You know why!

Ok, super nice reception by valet & hostesses. Waiter Chad was a bit robotic, later seemed pressed for time, we had to ask 3 times for more butter, from 3 people, finally a fourth brought it... Mgr had to pour wine for us, and we poured our own. Food was good, pool view, pool-side chairs & tables. So, so... Good food, but seriously for the price...there are some other really great places to dine with AMAZING views & service. Grill marks, and cooking of the steaks were fantastic!

I'm not a seafood person but even I was tempted by their raw bar. $60 all you can eat of the freshest crab, oysters, lobster, ahi, prawns and more. In the end though I passed it up for a steak. The menu listed where their beef came from and if it was grass or corn fed. I really appreciated this and ended up with a local grass fed strip steak. It came with a chorizo bread pudding which was strange but delicious at the same time. Some french fries and sweet potato fries were ordered for the group and I couldn't help but to keep pigging out on them. Thick cut, fried perfectly and topped with a nice chunky and crunchy kosher salt. Being Hawaii it was very warm outside and there wasn't much breeze. This made it a little uncomfortable but it started to cool down once the sun went down.

My partner and I went to Duo for our anniversary. We wanted something fancy with kamaaina so it wouldn't break the bank. We both chose fish, he had the Mahi, I had the snapper, both were very well done but the snapper was better. On this Island everyone does Mahi and this was not the best we have experienced. The setting was nice, the service was OK. I was expecting more than a sloppy bus boy splashing water from the glass to the table and not wiping it up. Also, the waiter, although very friendly, was very rushed and unfortunately not on point this evening. It was slow and drinks were empty, at the Four Seasons. At this point with so many fine dinning options here on Maui I can't see myself returning unless it was out of someone else's pocket! As far as the stars go, it was better than OK and I am a fan of nice places so if 31/2 was an option I would take it.

Pacifico Great 180 view of ocean. Service was wonderful. We ordered for appetizers wonton & sashimi flatbread. The sashimi flatbread was v good. For main entree we ordered blackened tofu (vegatarian dish) n hapa tempura. The tofu dish came with beets on a bed of lentil n pesto cilantro sauce. I'm not normally a veg but that dish was delish. The tempura dish was only ok. I don't want my fish lightly tempurad.

Disappointed that the bone in ribeye is no longer on the menu. The new steaks are ok but leave you hungry still. Our server, Brad, was awesome and if I do go back the only reason would be for the service. Maybe I will stop at outback and have an appetizer next time.

bone in rib eye is the best choice amongst the steaks. Kama'aina buy 1 get 1 free entree makes it worthwhile for locals. cotton candy end is a nice touch.

Breakfast buffet was really just so-so and a huge disappointment given that the cost is essentially the same as ka'ana kitchen. And the methodology for taking orders for omelets and pancakes and delivering those to a "pick up" station was a complete mess. Service staff was lovely tho.

Disappointing. I was on the verge of giving this place 2.5 stars for both food and service, but the waiter managed to return my credit card to me before I left. My bad, + .5 points for him. In sum, for a hotel of this stature, food should be exceptional. Seafood raw bar was very disappointing, waiters did not know the menu or wine well...unlike most 4 Seasons restaurants. I think there is an acceptance of mediocrity in the resorts around Wailea because there is a lack of direct competition off resort...very sad. All foodies out there, pony up, get in your car, leave the resorts, and head to Lahaina Grill, Gerard's, Pineapple Grill for fine dining, or to hundreds of casual spots where your bang for your buck will get you some of the best frugal gourmet on the island. I wanted to walk out of this place after the filet mignon tasted worse than off my grill, but my better half convinced me to stay...I don't mind price anywhere I go, but I do expect something delivered in exchange for my denero...not much here!

On our last night at FS, we decided to dine at Duo on the lobby level. And may I tell you that this was an awesome decision. They seated us towards the water and the scenery overlooked one of their pools and the ocean. It was breathtaking watching the sun set. We started off with the Trio Sashimi. I swear, Hawaii has the best sashimi ever. The tuna just melted in our mouths. You can't find anything like this in the main land. We both shared the 24. oz Dry Aged Steak and boy am I glad we did. It was huge! And cooked to perfection--medium rare. I like my steak with pink to it. That's the only way to eat a steak. I wish I didn't' have manners, so I could gnaw on the bone--it was that delish. We ordered the Sauteed Mushrooms & Mac & Cheese À la carte and they complimented our steak real well. We also ordered a bottle of red wine which adds to the flavor of our steak nicely. Since it was our honeymoon, they brought out a "Congratulation" chocolate plate which was sweet of them. Don't worry folks, if you aren't there for a special occasion, they send out cotton candy at the end of every meal. I'm glad our room was just a few steps away because we were in massive food coma afterwards. Next time we will make the effort to get up and enjoy their brunch buffet. I've heard nothing but amazing things about it. Can September come any quicker??

My family and I ate here once and we loved it! I do have to say that the waiter that we had was amongst the best that I have ever had as a server, so that may be coloring my assessment of the food. However, everything that we ordered was fantastic. The steak was amongst the best that I have ever had and the Ahi was amazing. The sides were even outstanding. This place is expensive (even for Maui), but worth every penny.

Our first dinner on our honeymoon, we decided to stay on the hotel grounds and check out Duo. Service was awesome and they had a nice menu. The wife got the mahi mahi and I went for the domestic kobe skirt steak. For appetizers and sides we got the duo hand cut fries, mac and cheese, and kona corn. Everything was good and there was certainly a lot more food than we could eat. Kinda sucks we didn't have a microwave because we had to throw away the leftovers. There were a lot of leftover sides too. We were able to finish our entrees. I would probably skip the fries next time since it is a lot for two people and it filled us up. The corn and mac and cheese were awesome though. You get cotton candy at the end of your meal, but you gotta eat it fast. The humidity starts to make it shrink fast. Service was excellent without being overbearing. It was awesome to be able to eat outside at 9PM with such great weather too.

I always feel terrible when I give a highly-rated place anything less than 4 stars. Is there something wrong with me? NO. My parents and I dined here our first night in Hawaii. Since we were staying at the Four Seasons, we decided to eat at Duo because it was just downstairs, and we didn't feel like going anywhere outside the hotel. From the outside, Duo seems like your average high-class, ritzy steakhouse. And in some ways, it is. The service? Great. Outdoor patio? The wind can get a little annoying, but you're in Hawaii, so what did you expect, right? How nice it is, though, to finally get away from the San Francisco chill and be able to sit outside to eat AT NIGHT. The food was less than mediocre, unfortunately. I chose the prix fixe menu, which basically gave you two choices for appetizer, main course and dessert. I chose the rock shrimp ceviche, the mahi mahi, and something called "pineapple fusion" for dessert. The ceviche was really good. The shrimp was fresh, the salsa was mild, and the whole thing was a delicious, chilled blend of textures and flavors, although not one of the flavors was overpowering (in fact, it may have needed some more seasonings, if anything). The mahi mahi was probably the worst fish I've ever had in a restaurant (the worst ever being one that I've attempted to make). It had no flavor whatsoever, although it was decently tender. It came on a bed of couscous, which also lacked flavor. Finally, my dessert was an odd blend of pineapple and ginger sorbet that was frozen rock hard, and it came with a strange pile of ginger and a piece of fluffy airy biscuit. Neither my mom nor I could tell what it was, but it tasted okay. The sorbet was so heavy in ginger flavor that I didn't like it at all - I'm not a fan of ginger though. My mom ordered the snapper, and like mine, it had zero flavor of its own. Hers came with some dipping sauces, but they did almost nothing for the fish. My dad had the porterhouse steak, but it also wasn't a very flavorful, tender one either. Every table gets a mound of melon-flavored cotton candy (it's light green!) at the end, and it's the good sticky goodness of cotton candy that everyone remembers, but with a very fragrant aroma and taste of honeydew. Too bad. Maybe brunch is better, based on the previous reviews, but I'm definitely not recommending the dinner, especially since it's VERY pricey. Skip for me.

The food here is excellent! The steaks and the ahi are especially delicious. The raw bar looked terrific but we didn't try it. It seems like a pretty good value. The onion soup is also a must-try. Service started off a little slow but ended up being terrific. I think they were just a little busy when we first arrived. They also have great views of the ocean if you get a table outside.

Stayed at the 4S and booked through a Four Seasons Preferred Partner travel agent. Therefore, we got free breakfast at Duo every day. If you stay there, suggest you do the same! On to the review, it was a fine breakfast spread... a bit better (more options) than the one we had at St. Regis Princeville the week before. Items were always fresh. Service was AMAZING, as can be expected in a 5* hotel. Omelet station was quick and omelets were served fast and hot. There were daily specials at the station as well, which were fine too. I loved having the breakfast every morning, but cannot speak to the value of it since it was free.

My boyfriend and I were in Maui for vacation and we had to go to Duo after hearing all the raves about their raw bar. We did not regret. Steven and I both got the all you can eat raw bar which was $69.99. It came with a soup or salad and french fries with a truffle aioli dip and a garlic dip. The raw bar had oysters, two types of lobster, shrimp, civiche, scallops, seaweed salad, and various types of seafood mixes. The oysters are shucked to order and there were a few different types of oysters. The ceasar salad was very good and the dressing tasted like it was made in the restaurant as opposed to a pre bought dressing. My french onion soup was pretty good but not the best I`ve ever had. I think it had too much cheese. The french fries are steak cut and the dipping sauces were very tasty. The service was decent but they didn`t have to do much considering we got our own food from the bar. Overall, I would recommend this place if you`re going to be near the Four Seasons and craving seafood. They have free vallet if you`re going for dinner. Just make sure to tip the guy!

This is one of my favorite restaurants on Maui. I've been here 3 times and each time I had a great steak. Tried the Rib Eye, Elk Steak and Filet Mignon. Prices are highly priced, but I feel you get your value from the food and the service. Staff our friendly and knowledgeable with the menu. The three times I ate here they also had a kamaaina special that was buy one entree get one free. This is a great value, but I would ask first as it changes throughout the year.

WOW! After reading the reviews, I would say that inconsistency in Duo's game. I have had the 2 worst dinner experiences at this restaurant. This visit the raw bar was a joke, except for the oysters which were quite good. The poke was large chunks and very mushy. The crab legs were so tiny there was not even one bite of meat in them. As they did last time, they overcooked any ordered fish to well done - really? We are in Hawaii and the fish is ruined AGAIN. They forgot to bring the fries that came with it, so the waitress brought us cotton candy to make up for it. Nice gesture but the cotton candy tasted disgusting - it was not edible. We already knew that breakfast was the typical overpriced Four Seasons buffet, so opted for breakfast on the lanai with groceries from the ABC market at the Weilea shops. The wine list compares to the food. The food and beverage director should step in and make some serious changes. But, I wrote a letter and talked to him last time and we can see they are not interested in improving it.

Let's just say that this Four Seasons is so impressive and beautiful, it makes you want to stay there at 500 something dollars at night. I love the Seasons....and along with the beautiful hotel comes the great food. The bf who is now my fiancé, decided to take me to Duo to celebrate our engagement. For an appetizer, we started off with the clams. Now let me tell you, the portion was so big that I felt like it could have been an entreé! This was definitely worth every penny. There was a bit of a spiciness since it was in a red curry sauce and the sauce dipped with bread...delicious! I decided to go with the island fish with no skin. The fish was tender, flaky and delicious. The fiancé went with the bone in rib eye aged at medium rare. He loved every bite of it, but I thought it was a bit too rare for my liking. We ordered the buttermilk potato purée (just a fancy word for mashed potatoes). This item was probably one of my favorite parts of the meal, just because it was so creamy, buttery and delicious! I love CARBS! Overall, food was delicious and service was excellent. I will be returning whenever the significant other takes me again!

Great dinner and atmosphere at this restaurant. They charge as much for the food as next door wailea(where I stayed) but the food is a better value here. Loved the entire experience, breakfast lunch or dinner.

This review is for the breakfast bar. Great selection. Has variety of options for every palate. Only wish they had Nutella. The thing to watch out for is that if you go for the buffet option, you can either do cold items which is less expensive or the full buffet. But we have found that a majority of the time (80%+ of our many visits over the years) they charged us full buffet without even asking which option we had chosen and we had to kindly remind them every time to adjust the bill. Not sure why this is always a problem. Is FS really in need of a few extra dollars per guest?

Excellent. Didn't want to eat steak while I was in Hawaii, my spouse and I both ordered the special grass fed New York strip. It was great as well as the sauce. If in Wailea, make this a stop. Others at our resort recommended it to us. thank you.

This restaurant is located in the 4 seasons maui which is stunning and beautiful.... Try to come before sunset to get a spectacular view of the ocean. We were greeted by our server Maria, a local girl born and raised in maui. Her hawaiian hospitality exceeded everything I had ever experienced in Hawaii. She was genuine, caring and she was funny. Very helpful too, her recommendations were on point. For appetizers we did the crab cakes (amazing) pork cheeks (good) and Lobster Bisque (best I've ever had) My buddy had the bone in rib eye, I had the flat iron (all local cattle) and they were excellent... But maybe we should have ordered seafood seeing as how we were in Hawaii, my boyfriend ordered the local fish and it was to die for. The sides were superb! We decided to order the truffle Mac and cheese and the veggies. The Kalua Corn came served with the bone in rib eye and I recommend you order a side of those. For dinner we did the soufflé and since it was my birthday I got a few surprises including the amazing yet unique green apple cotton candy! Interesting and Delish! You won't be disappointed with duo, everything was awesome and the service staff was in synch and never missed a beat. The most amazing part of our dinner was our server. I hope the this restaurant recognizes how amazing she is. Thank you Maria for making my birthday and maui experience amazing!

I had dinner here and it was interesting. One person in my party was allergic to shellfish, and the entire staff was more than accommodating to that. With that said...menu time. I started with a delicious lava flow. Cost was $10 and for that price, I would rather head to Tommy Bahama's, home of my favorite lava flow. Might I add that this was a virgin lava flow, no alcohol, $10 item! But again I was dining at the swanky Four Seasons Resort. In any case, my party of four then ordered a couple of dishes to try. Our side orders included the asparagus and the truffle mac and cheese. The asparagus was easily sharable between the four of us. It was lightly dusted with parmesan cheese and it had a lot of depth to its flavor, yet kept simple. The truffle mac and cheese is tasty indeed! It was a good portion size that was still sharable for four. By the way, all side dishes currently cost $6 each. I decided to order the Endless Catch Raw Bar, after hearing everyone rave about them as I passed them in the lobby. Personally, the buffet was not only more than I could stomach, but also more than I bargained for. I am one for trying new places and new items, and naturally I did the same. However, the oysters had too much brine. There were three different oysters (all from Washington State) that accompanied three different sauces, which were the traditional, apple cider and southern spice. I opted for the apple cider, but it could not hide the brine of the oyster. Each oyster is shucked for you by the raw bar chef, who was excellent at explaining to me each component of the raw bar and all of the sauces that went together. He prepared the platter and served it on a bed of sea salt and lavender. Unfortunately, not even the nice presentation or sea salt could save the oysters. But if you enjoy oysters, you would love this bar. It's only my first time eating them, and I just love clams more. I just wanted to break my comfort zone and go for it. Oh well. The second part of the raw bar included ahi poke with ogo (raw fish with edible seaweed), spicy ahi poke, octopus poke, prawns and scallops. I tried both the ahi and octopus poke, which the latter included sea asparagus. I enjoyed the traditional ahi poke, but the octopus was overdone. The sea asparagus was light, but of course you can taste the ocean's brine. The sauces here were tarragon and butter and a salsa mix. I tried the tarragon and butter. It was rich and creamy. I jumped on the third bar-king crab legs, Keahole lobster tails and Keahole lobster claws from Kona. Clarified butter? Nope. I used...drum roll please....cocktail sauce! I love cocktail sauce. As I ate through my meal though, I realized that too much of a good thing is too much. I drowned my lobster tails and claws with so much sauce that I was soon defeated. My fault. I didn't come on an empty stomach and to be honest, even if I did I think I would stop by my first serving of lobsters (after the other two stations). Sadly, I am a lobster and crab fan but that part of the bar didn't change my mind. I just know that I can walk away knowing that I only need one tail to be truly satisfied. Overall, the raw bar was overrated and with the $69.00 price tag, I would never need to do it again. Bucket List challenge # 500-done. Dessert=Disaster...I was blown away. It was phenomenal! I had the Banana Toffee Pudding and shared some with my fiancé, who had the Raspberry Chocolate Soufflé. The pudding had a perfect portion of ice cream paired with caramel sauce and a light graham cracker. The serving dish looked like a UFO saucer and a small center opening for the dessert. I didn't care for it, but the dessert was awesome!!! The soufflé was airy, light in texture and light on the chocolate. It was also truly delicious. I tried comparing it to Roy's, but it just doesn't do it justice. Both are equals in my book, and a new favorite of mine. One is light and the other is deeply decadent. I enjoy both and I won't choose one over the other. The cost of my banana toffee was $9.00, while the soufflé was $12.00. Our server also brought out a complimentary dish of grape cotton candy. We were already stuffed, but who could deny it? It was pure sugar rush with thoughts of pastime fairs and carnival rides. Overall, my impression of Duo was upscale. I was absorbed with the sunset views and service more than the food itself. The appetizers, lava flow and dessert were phenomenal but the raw bar was overkill. With the high price tag, I would not come here again. But that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy myself. I did, but I will walk away and move on to other establishments to try. One more note is that dining here allows for complimentary valet parking, but I kindly tipped the doorman and the person who retrieved our car.

While staying at the 4 seasons, we looked at the Yelp reviews and noticed that this restaurant rocked the reviews. Based on that fact, we made a dinner reservation that proved to be an excellent choice. First off, ask for the outside seating if you can get it as those tables have the best sunset view. Because we were dining early to get the sunset in, we also had the challenge of being seated next to two tables with children doing their best to bolster the argument for long term contraception. Yikes, kids gone wild! Setting that aside, the star of the show here is the steak. Grass fed and succulent. The filet was the most tender and flavorful that we have ever had! Anywhere! It really shocked us. The beet salad is another great starter with an incredible flavor profile courtesy of the dressing. The only negative had to do with our waiter. He convinced me to order a Wailea sour cocktail that proved very much not to my liking. There the drink sat the entire dinner, largely untouched, pushed to the side in exile and never once did he ask if I liked it or not. It appeared to me that he knew and that he just didn't want to deal with it. Oh well, that slight didn't take away from the amazing food.

Kind of blowing my mind there aren't more 5 star reviews. One of, if not thee best steaks I have ever had (bone in rib eye). Also recommend the buttermilk mash, and French fries, both top class. An excellent meal, with excellent service. Worth every penny.

Our first night at the Four Seasons and we dined at Duo. Sat promptly and were greeted immediately. Drinks ordered and browsing the menu, we were provided with bread. I ordered a caesar salad and by hubby had a sushi app - both were delicious. For our meals we ordered the NY Strip - both came and were tasty but not amazing. Just ok. After the meal we were given complementary pink cotton candy... because thats what everyone craves after a steak :) It was a cute touch. Al fresco dining expereince, and good service, but the food was just ok...

Had the corned beef hash for breakfast. Asked for the eggs pan scrambled yellow and white, but they came out scrambled, which is lame on corned beef. Could tell by the look in her eyes that they would be scrambled. Corned beef hash was perfectly cooked and the best I have had.

It must have been the night judging by the other reviews but my husband and I are staying at the four seasons for our honeymoon and when we heard duo had an all you can eat raw/seafood bar we were excited. To start we were seated 20 minutes late, not that big of a deal at all. We got the endless seafood raw bar, and maybe because we're from New England and spoiled with delicious lobster, crab and oysters , we were very disappointed. The Alaskan crab tasted as if it had been washed in fresh water which completely strips any seafood of its natural flavor, the lobster tails were partly cooked and partly raw and tough to chew, the oysters were ok but all of them had a ton of cracked shells in them, I'd be curious to see what the non seafood is like there. Our waiter came over maybe once as we saw him literally running from place to place yet the restaurant was not full and there were tons of waitstaff. It was either a really bad night or has bad management. This is not at all reflective of the rest of the hotel. There are plenty of great places to eat on maui, I wouldn't waste my money at duo.

Of all the four season restaurants...I like duo the best. It is a beautiful setting with very nice food...and is a relative bargain compared to spago. Their salads are amazing...fresh high county veggies from maui. The seafood is fresh and simply prepared. I also really enjoy the deserts and the extensive wine list.

Wow. Simply Amazing! We walked into Duo after feeling uninspired by The Four Season's other offerings. It was such an experience! Everything was drop dead delicious. The house-cut fries, grilled veggies, NY Steak, Chicken and Onion Rings were more than amazing. Wonderful flavors and great overall staff. Our waitress was attentive, and the manager talked to us for a while. Like another reviewer said, your water glass is never empty, but you don't feel intruded. Duo is pricey, but it is worth a visit if you are on Maui!

Duo is their not so sneaky way of saying surf-and-turf... which altho cheesy, who cares, you're not eating the name. Highlights: 1) maui onion soup -- this is what drew us in the door. If you like your onion soup cheesy and rich, which I do, this is the soup for you 2) snapper -- figured I may as well eat as locally as possible. has an option of several sauces, but I found it perfect on its own, with the skin perfectly crisp, flesh tender and moist.... 3) wine list -- extensive, covering a broad price range in a rational format, with a good by the glass selection. Negs -- the souffle was a little too eggy for me. Apparently the husband did not agree was he sucked his down in a matter of seconds. Also, this is a small point, but why can't there be an ocean view?

This is the second time I've eaten at the Four Seasons for breakfast at Duo, and once again, I was not diappointed. The views are spectacular, the food is outstanding, and the service is exactly what you would expect. The full breakfast buffet (which I don't even know should be titled as a buffet since it's so gormet) is $34. They have 2 other buffet prices, one for the continental breakfast and the other for one step above continental and just below the full buffet. Made to order omelets and fritattas, pastries galore, meats, cheeses, fruits, juices, and more. They also have a full breakfasst menu with creative options. I highly recommend the lemon ricotta pancakes ($20). I can't say anything bad about this restaurant beyond the fact it is a tad pricey for breakfast if you ask me.

  • Andrea R.

It's all about the breakfast buffet here! While I had dinner at the other 2 restaurants also located at the Four Seasons (Ferraros and Spago- both very good), I never had the chance to dine at Duo for dinner. I find most breakfast buffets at hotels to be pretty pricey and this one is no exception- north of $30/person. Lucky for us it was included in our "romance package" because although we ate, ate, and ate I don't think we ate nearly $30/person worth of food. You certainly won't go hungry here because they have it all: pastries, omelet station, waffles, french toast, cheese, fruit, cereal, lots of hot stations to choose from, etc. I was a big fan of the fruit (the coconut bananas were ridiculously good), bran muffins (a few days that had a carrot bran muffin that was out of this world), and cheese (huge cheese fan). My husband enjoyed a daily omelet, which he put shrimp and shitake mushrooms in everyday among other veggies. And he also hit up the fruit, cheese, and pastries. Ok, come to think of it maybe we did eat $30 worth of food! The service was great everyday- lots of orange juice refills for the vitamin C loving hubby. And they always brought over a little smoothie sample (different kind each day). I promise you'll leave brunch very full...and there's nothing like a full belly when you're laying out in that bathing suit a few minutes later.

Last night was my second visit to Duo. On my first visit I recall thinking my dinner was "good" but nothing amazing. Last night we went for the $75 per person all you can eat raw bar. It sounded like a great idea. All you can eat lobster tails, crab legs, oysters, poke, ceviche, etc. But, not so great. The oysters were good. They are shucked fresh for you as you order them and the selection was nice. My wife really enjoyed her lobster tails (I thought they lacked any flavor but I'm not a lobster person to be fair), but the ceviche and the poke were less than desirable. Its almost like they thought they could hide the lesser quality fish with the sauces and flavors. I found the temperature of my poke to be a bit warm, and the fish to be stringy and muscley, the tako (octopus ceviche) was very tough to chew. The poor quality raw fish ruined it for me, and I was done before I finished my first plate (I guess that's a big WIN for the restaurant $75 and hardly any food eaten!). I really wanted this to work. I'm a poke, ceviche and sushi fanatic, but I think your money is much better spent ordering the lobster, poke, oysters etc. off the menu at a better quality restaurant. Sorry Duo, I gave you two chances!

Disclaimer- we never actually ate in the main area of this restaurant or had breakfast here. Both nights we showed up to try to grab some dinner we were told the tables were booked until after 8, despite the restaurant being, at most, half full. I'm not sure what was going on with that, but we didn't mind because instead we sat at the small bar by the entrance where the bartender Erica took very good care of us and patiently answered all our questions about what it's like to live on Maui. There was only one vegetarian entree on the menu, but it was delicious- crispy on the outside tender on the inside potato fritters spiked with morels and nuts, served over a bed of summer vegetables and Israeli couscous. Starch heavy perhaps, but it was far and away the most integrated veggie meal I've ever had in Hawaii. It made the resort prices sting a little bit less, although in no way would this place be considered cheap eats. The complementary pre-meal bites and after dinner cotton candy (yum!) also soothed my wallet conscience. The cocktail menu was refreshing. Even among the fruit puree based martinis, the recipes all had enough depth to them to avoid the cloying sweetness I had come to expect from resort drinks. So if you find yourself in Wailea and are a vegetarian (and especially if you are on an expense account), don't be scared by the steakhouse classification and check out Duo. It's an easy walk from any of the other area hotels along the beach or the main road.

Hands down the best meal I had in Hawaii. Outstanding steak - and all sides are great. Dessert was also good- the "chocolate three ways" was small, but unique. Amazing setting at the Four Seasons hotel in Wailea. Right on the ocean and all sorts of pools all around. Very relaxed place. Get dinner here around sunset...And finish with free cotton candy!

Have you ever taken your first bite of food, then experienced an emotional reaction due to the disbelief of how amazing it tasted? Well, I have, tonight, as I experienced my perfectly cooked, oh so buttery smooth filet mignon. My meal was phenomenal to say the very least and decently priced ($49 three course prix fixe). On top of all that the ambiance is romantic, laid back, and totally relaxed with great service. I don't give five stars very often, but Duo earns it hands down.

I loved this place for dinner. The service was, of course, great. I ordered the tuna with mushroom tempura. I had assumed when ordering that I would need fries to fill out the meal - but the tuna portion was substantial, and the mushrooms were also substantial enough that I couldn't even finish my main course. Also, COTTON CANDY with your check. Skip dessert - the cotton candy is great. For breakfast on the other hand - it's a big skip for me. That was the most slim buffet I have ever seen. The food was not that great. The buffets in vegas are far better. Nothing spectacular, nothing exceptionally culinary. Just average, for a far greater than average price. SKIP for breakfast.

If you're staying in the Four Seasons this will likely be your goto brunch spot (yes on vacation, every day is brunch!). The buffet was okay, though not especially extravagant, however they do have everything you might want... fresh omelets, waffles, you name it. The price is tough to stomach at $30 per person, but you know the drill at fancy hotel restaurants...so I won't harp too much on that. I never had the opportunity to have a "typical" dinner at DUO, the closest I came was the Thanksgiving buffet which was mediocre. Unlike their daily breakfast, there was an extravagance factor with the all-you-can-eat lobster tails, but they were way overcooked so you didn't miss anything by not being there with me :). Also the turkey wasn't carved off a fresh normal looking bird, instead they were cutting from what looked like a turkey block. The dinner prices are right on par with Spago so given the choice of trying only one of the Four Seasons three restaurants, I'd strongly suggest going upstairs.

Practically a five star restaurant, I'm giving this a solid four star recommendation. The service is friendly and professional, and the menu is creative and yet comforting. We started with two amazing crab cakes, as well as a tasty, light butter lettuce salad with local goat cheese, beets and macadamia nuts. For main courses, we had a solid, interesting boar stew - topped with sliced boar tenderloin - in a rich, dark sauce; and panko crusted big eye ahi tuna - amazing taste and perfectly cooked. For desert, we had the chocolate souffle; absolutely spot on perfect! Overall, a great - if expensive - meal.

The food was pretty amazing I have to admit. The atmosphere relaxed. I was pretty shocked to feel so at ease, being the four seasons. Pricey as expected of Maui. Will probably go back. Beautiful surroundings. Great steak too. Service outstanding.

*This review is for dinner only* Hands down - the best steak I've ever had. I mean, I cannot eat any other steak now: Duo set the standard. Fillet mignon felt like that yummy cow was prancing in the meadow same day it got slaughtered. The meat still retained the smell of milk, grass and sun. Just a note: their medium is more like medium rare in any other steak house. Save some room for dessert, it is really worth checking out.

We recently dined at Duo on my wife's birthday. The service was very good, starting with our great waiter, who answered all of the questions we had about the menu. We were attended to throughout the evening. The food came out promptly as well. We had the onion soup for an app. Very delicious and we even took about half of it home. I ordered the filet mignon and my wife had the flat iron steak. We also ordered the Hamakua mushrooms and the Kula corn. The Kula corn was a disappointment as it seemed it was cut too close to the center, as there were numerous pieces of something getting stuck in our teeth. The mushrooms were delicious though and we couldn't get enough of them. I read another review stating how chewy the mushrooms were. Well, that's how Hamakua mushrooms are. Their texture is different than regular white or brown mushrooms. My filet was delicious and cooked perfectly medium. My wife enjoyed her flat iron but didn't like the sauce so much. For dessert we got the banana toffee pudding and it was so good, I wanted to lick the plate clean! We also go the grape cotton candy and had to eat it fast, as the humidity was making it droop quickly. Since it was my wife's birthday, she even got a couple of special chocolates. We enjoyed the open air environment of the restaurant and the noise level was low so we could hear each other talk. We love their kama`aina discount of BOGO entree free and we didn't have to sit in a certain section or dine at a certain time, like other restaurants require you to do. We had a great experience and would love to dine there again in the future.

Hanging around the Wailea area, my brother and his wife suggested our last meal be at Duo for breakfast. Being at the Four Seasons, I actually had some higher expectations. 1. Veggie frittatas - I found this quite appetizing after all the greasy food that we were eating in the last few days. The imbedded veggies did not cause the frittata to be soggy, and the fresh bany spinach on top added a nice earthy crunch. 2. Skillet breakfast- the ratio of veggies to egg was also optimal. It was not soggy and the portuguese sausage was juicy and saltyriferous! Yum. 3. Corned beef hash - had great flavor but i forgot to ask for well done. So, it was not as crispy as I would like it to be. 4. Complimentary smoothy of mango, pineapple, Ginger and spinach - this sounded really diferent and may also sound disgusting but it was very pleasant and refreshing! Conclusion: The items are well done but minus points for being pricey. I admit, though, that it is the trade off for being in a resort area and major plus side is that there is a fantastic view of the ocean in a calm, relaxing environment.

Whhhooooooo this place rocks!!!!! The food was spectacular and the service was even better. My pick was the porterhouse and I was not disappointed at all. Everything was made just right and I wish I was there now. My advice, go to Duo.

Duo is a good solid choice for a restaurant on Maui. It is a four seasons restaurant, so great service is to be expected. When I first started going to Duo about six years ago, I can honestly say that the restaurant has gone downhill since then. Barry, the old manager was very kind and remembered every face and made you feel special when you came into the restaurant every time. Now, the new manager, a young aussie woman, is friendly, however not as friendly and warm as Barry and if there is a problem, she never seems do much like Barry did. Everything on the Duo menu is pretty good. I've had most of the menu before and I can say I have enjoyed everything I have ordered. Duo used to have a standout dessert. It was a pear gingerbread sundae. Unfortunately, they took this off their menu. I have been several times since hoping they would add that to their menu again, but not yet! I hope every time. This is a family friendly restaurant. The breakfast is great too. Make sure you make a reservation for dinner!

The Raw side of Duo: i have been to Duo several times. Most of my experience in the past year has been around the Raw Bar, which i find to be a good price/quality ratio. Chef Mike is amazing, welcoming with a big smile. He knows seafood well and has a great sense of customer service . He will go out of his way to deliver freshly shucked oysters to your table (well he does this for me probably because he realizes how much i appreciate impeccable customer service, which is "expected" in such an establishment). The selection of buffet items offer several different kinds of Poke (hawaiian raw fish dish), crab legs, claws, prawns, shrimps, etc. A very satisfying alternative for oysters and seafood lovers. It's all about temperature! Tonight, however, is a different story. i was there with two friends and we did order two appetizers (Tartar Duo and Crab cakes, which were on the small side, yet flavors and presentation were flawless) and two entrees. The New York Strip as they call it came with a delicious reduction and a Hamakua mushroom ragout which paired deliciously with the perfectly cooked meat. The Porterhouse on the other hand was ordered Medium rare and was cooked above medium. We were so busy talking and having fun (which is what foodie friends do when they sit around a dinner table) and one of us wanted it on the medium side that we did not notice right away. Two of us did not eat much ot it at all as we like our meat on the rear side and this was obvioulsy not cooked to order ($52 dish). We mentioned that to the waitress who apologized and related the news to the Manager and the Chef. They offered us a complimentary dessert (bread pudding which was a 1/2 person portion size, but tasty nonetheless) which we had to eat with coffee spoons! The silverware for dessert was never delivered and we needed to ask the bus boys for regular size spoons (we foodies all are accustomed to have a spoon and fork to eat dessert). All in all a disappointing experience for a $300 affair (including wine). Note to Self: even if you are at the Four Seasons Resorts in Wailea, always pay attention to the food being served to you, and make sure it matches exactly what you ordered.

Great breakfasts are served at this restaurant in the Four Seasons resort hotel. Imagine eggs benedict on a patio outdoors on the ocean in the midst of soft breezes. The waiters are extra cautious about leaving food on the table due to small, local birds flitting about for tasty leftovers. ALERT: For some reason the meals prepared at the hot food stations are just not to the same standard as meals served directly from the kitchen. The staff sets out a darling display at knee level, so small children can help themselves. Others may select from a huge variety of hot and cold foods buffet style, or order ala carte from the menu. Fresh fruit, granola, all kinds of eggs, bacon, pancakes, waffles and Portuguese sausage are among the selections. The fruit was remarkable...you should not miss tasting the guava and fresh pineapple there. As for the danish and croissants, I judged none of them to be worth the calories. Your coffee cup is never empty. The tab runs about $30 a person. If it seems excessive to consume calories like this on a daily basis, by mid-week you will either drift back to your normal diet habits or start taking long walks on the beach. The staff is adept at learning your name and whether you drink regular or decaf coffee, prefer cream, or prefer tea. You never leave hungry. Their dinner was average fare. I consider Duo a breakfast place and award stars only for that.

  • Aaron H.

Note to Duo, if you have something on your menu, even if it's dessert, that you know is not good, don't have your wait staff apologize for it after it's been ordered. "The menu is 2 weeks old and we're still trying to figure out what's good." That's greeeeeat to hear when receiving the bill. Hint: Don't get the Chocolate 3-Ways. It's more like Bland Brown Stuff 3-Ways. The service was meh. My steak was great and Lauren's fish was "good". I had the wagyu and she had the mahi mahi grilled. The sides were fine - onion rings and skilleted veggies, but nothing I'm craving as I write this. We came here two years ago, and maybe I was more drunk then, but the food seemed so much better in '07. Way more inventive and exciting two years ago. Now it's fairly typical steakhouse fare. Pick your meat, pick your sauce (if you're into that sorta thing), pick a starch and a veggie and done. Not nearly as good as Cut, but in fairness I'm not sure what can compare to that place. Next time we're in Maui, we'll be trying some place new and I can't wait. But my advice would be to go once. It's beautiful and the food IS good, but with so many other great options on the island try someplace new the next time around.

We stopped in a for a drink at the Duo Lounge/Bar. I love martinis so I asked the bartender to "wow" me with one of his creations. Well, he absolutely delivered!! He mixed a Vesper Martini, (James Bond drink). His special take on it was that he lit a match and squeezed a slice of lemon rind over the glass so the oils would mix with the gin & vodka. It was AMAZING. His name was Brad, not usually tending bar, but happened to be helping out that evening. He usually tends tables. If you ever go to Maui, stop in and be sure & ask to be seated at his station. Or if you're lucky, he'll be tending bar. He is great!! He will treat you right!!

Attention to Detail. That's what this place is all about. We ate here twice for breakfast and dinner while we were here. The breakfast buffet is sooo decadent. From the fresh smoothies in shot glasses, full pastry bar, macadamia nut pancakes, crab egg benedict, piles of crispy thick bacon, and long list of other goodies......my tummy was a happy camper. Dinner- It was great! My then great boyfriend and now fiance proposed during dinner! He was cool as a cucumber as my lovely self was melting away in 100% humidity and heat. Besides the heat- dinner was delish. The seafood tower- Spicy Tuna tartare-So damn good. The Kobe beef was really good, but I think it was too rich(maybe soft?) for my taste. The New York steak on the other hand was just as good, and had that meat texture I needed to sink my teeth into. HAPPY. It's kinda of a blur now since I went in October 2009. Just know this place had great service. Our dinner table was decorated full of rose petals with a beautiful floral arrangement. They go out of their way to make special "congratulations" breakfast fruit and even dessert plates. One of the most thoughtful things my fiance did was to make sure my favorite wine was kept in stock/ordered before our arrival (I had no idea). The restaurant/hotel ordered a case and made sure the restaurant had it in stock, and brought a new bottle to our hotel room every day while we stayed there. GUYS- good place to propose! Hint hint. ^_^

Went here last week on our trip to Maui in celebration of my husband's birthday. The view is great and so is the ambiance. The service is also top notch. My husband and I consider ourselves to be foodies and really love a great restaurant experience. Since it was a big bday of his, we went crazy... *Pre-dinner cocktails: pear martini for me (very good), an unusual scotch for him (he's a big whiskey and scotch drinker) *Appetizer: me - surfing goat cheese fritters - amazing; him - chopped salad - delicious *Entree: Me - ahi tuna - while it was super delicious and great, something was odd about the cut that made it not the smoothest ahi that I have had; him - washimi steak - the hawaiian kobe - very delicious, but very very very expensive, he said he was glad he tried it but wouldn't get it again *Dessert: we tried the dessert tapas - the mango creme brulee and the chocolate souffle - both good (creme brulee was the best, chocolate souffle is definitely for dark chocolate lovers - not very sugary) *Finale - they brought out a tray of birthday chocolates for his birthday (our favorite over the desserts) and the cotton candy was strawberry? it was yummy and fun to eat and more fun to take pictures with this huge mound of cotton candy Definitely a nice dinner! If you are only going to eat at the Four Season's once, then I recommend Ferraro's over this spot (see my other review).

We wanted to grab and go to breakfast, but there is nothing open at the resort at 6 AM except duo. We asked the host whether we could grab breakfast to go, and she said yes just go pick up some items from the buffet put them in this Styrofoam box and we will charge you on a per item basis. I went and put a few items of fruit, a quarter quesadilla and a croissant into the box and came back. The charge was $35 for Styrofoam box of food I was going to eat In a van. I was so disgusted. $35 is their price for their full breakfast buffet. So much for charging on a per item basis. I can't believe that the four seasons doesn't have any other option at 6 AM for breakfast other than paying an exorbitant price to take food to go from duo.

Ordered prime rib sirloin that was supposed to be Nebraska fed corn beef but was the worst steak imaginable at $58. It could not be prime in my view but maybe the local beef in Maui. Inedible and cuttable. Do not go and waste your money and time. Go to Spago!

We had dinner at Duo on our first night at the FSRM. We should have waited until our LAST night because Duo was so good...the others just couldn't compare. Thursday-Saturday they have an awesome raw bar. Our server, Merrit, guided us through the menu and his recommendations were awesome. We had the BEST NY steak ever...so juicy and cooked to perfection. We had the strawberry cobbler float for dessert which was not too heavy after the steak dinner, and the pink cotton candy with the bill was a nice touch.

"Fabulous, Incredible, Wonderful, Amazing" too good for words, just fabulous food, view and service! Go - you have to try it! You will not regret it! you will love it! When can you miss at a Four Seasons Resort restaurant? I've never found one yet that wasn't unforgettable. We had drinks at the Lobby Lounge just before sunset and in time for their traditional Hawaiian sunset ritual (it's wonderful, don't miss it). I had a Mai Tai with bing cherry foam (some award winning concoction of their bartender). Downstairs dinner at Duo was delightful. The dining room is outdoors overlooking the pool under this fascinating ceiling that looks like real sails. We ordered the prix fixe for $49/person and what a great value that was! Fresh ceviche with homemade chips, beefcheeks and fingerling potatoes in a rich sauce and dessert. The service was excellent, of course. The Four Seasons folks are so skilled and gracious.

Sushi appetizer was mediocre. Too much rice, rice was cold and of poor quality and fish was OK. Steak was bad. Overcooked and lacking flavor. Overpriced for the quality.

Can't say enough about this place. The Brandt filet, goat cheese fritter, steamed clams, onion soup, and the Girard red. All awesome. The waiter was seriously the absolute best server I have every had at fine dining restaurant. He was knowledgeable beyond belief. Wish I could remember his name, long trip. Either way, it is the only place on Maui that I think compares to Mama's Fishhouse but they are drastically different places. Duo is quiet and romantic with a certain elegance. The lobby bar at the hotel is well worth a stop as well.

We splurged here for the breakfast buffet on our first morning in Maui. We knew what we were getting into, and all our wonderful expectations were met. Ahhh...I wish I could eat here everyday, but luckily I can't. A lot of healthy options, but knowing the price, you're going to eat a lot more! Yes, the full buffet was $32 per person and with tax and tip at the end, it was about a $78. breakfast...but it was wonderful. Since it was so pricey, and there were sooo many scrumptious options and everything you looked at was total yummy goodness, we ate our fair share. They have everything you can imagine, and there will even be tasty smoothie shooters waiting for you when you return to your table. You definitely won't need lunch... Treat yourself to the breakfast buffet at Duo at the Four Seasons at least once. You're on vacation, and not only can you enjoy it on their beautiful patio and receive their fabulous service, but if you're lucky you will do it with a gorgeous view of the ocean.

My expectations were high, given the great reviews on Yelp and the beautiful surroundings of the hotel/restaurant. Unfortunately I ended up very confused about all the hype about this place, especially given the steep prices you will inevitably pay. The hand-cut fries were thick to the point of sogginess, with dolled-up mayonnaise passed off as a dipping sauce. The 24 oz dry-aged bone-in ribeye that everyone has been raving about was tough and stringy. However, the steamed clam appetizer was tasty and the porterhouse steak that my boyfriend ordered was much more tender and juicy...so maybe I got unlucky, but I still left feeling pretty unsatisfied.

Visit 2/14/09 - Took my honey here. Food is excellent. I had the porterhouse and honey had the filet mignon. Both were good. Price here is high. Service is good. Because of Valenstine day, they served cotton candy. What a great desert for the 2 of us to share. We also tried the $142 Kobe beef dinner, one of the best pieces of beef I ever ate. I will come back.

We had an absolute amazing time at Duo. The manager really treated us special even before he knew it was our honeymoon. He brought out champagne and seated us overlooking the water. My wife and I were treated like we were regulars....and this was our first time. On to the food. We started with seared ahi and chopped salads. Again, very nice and no complaints. We both had Filet with Peppercorn sauce. The filets were only second to Mastros (when Mastros is spot on). Very lean, tender and perfectly flavored without sauces. The sides were amazing. Only downside was that I love HUGE side portions...and these were regular size sides (yes, i love to gorge at steakhouses lol). The Blue Cheese crusted spinach was awesome! For dessert we had the chocolate soufle. Very nice and not overbearing.....manager comped it so it tasted even better haha. Honestly, DUO, Ferroros, and Spago's over at the 4 Seasons know how to make people happy. We will be staying there from now on.

Enjoyed the Full Island Buffet for breakfast, trying to describe the selection of Tropical Fruit, Juices, Granola, Cereals, Yoghurt, Assorted Breads, Pastries, Cheeses and Sliced Deli Meats, oh wait there is more...French Toast, Pancakes, Waffles, Omelettes Made To Order, Eggs Any Style, Breakfast Meats, Potatoes and Rice does not do it justice. You have to experience it. The food is delicious, and what makes it so darn good is the service. Employees at Duo are great. The Full Island Buffett for one with tip and tax runs about $50, however, at times I ate so much I didn't need lunch. It is a steal, two meals for the price of one!

YAY for DUO!! Such a relaxing and beautiful atmosphere for a nice dinner ~ I had the elk and steamed veggies. So good ! The service wasn't that great. But me and my boyfriend come so often we figure the waitress just had an off night..anyways, this place is lovely and highly recommended!!!

Nice digs! Duo was swanky swanky and the price tag that goes with it proves my point . Yowza! I had fish (Ono), potatoes, asparagus, and a glass of rose, and it came out to $80! Service was stellar as it should have been, and the food was tasty, but I've had better at substantially smaller prices. Anyhoo, I'd do Duo again, but only after I hit the lottery,

Bravo Duo! This was the best meal I had while on Maui. My steak was perfectly cooked, the truffle merlot sauce was to die for, my salad was excellent, and even my side of bok choy was well marinated. This is a great restaurant even for picky foodies. It's expensive, but that is to be expected for this kind of quality and at a hotel like the Four Seasons. I thought the service was great, the waitress was very nice and was good about being attentive but not interrupting the meal. I don't know if Duo has a Michelin star, but they deserve one. Note: If you sit outside (which is great) it's a bit dark after the sun goes down. My parents struggled to read the menu so if you have a hard time reading menus when it's dark, bring a little pocket flashlight.

Ohhhh man. Possibly the best meal I've had in a long time. Definitely the best steak I've had in a long time... dry aged rib-eye... seriously, I'm salivating as I type this. Other highlights of the meal: seafood tower (with an amazing spicy tuna tartare), carpaccio, and the desserts! Trio of creme brulee, layered pear thing on phyllo with honey ice cream, chocolate souffle... rawr. They even brought out a fluffy pile of green apple cotton candy at the end. Commence coma.

My husband and I dined here on our last night in Maui. We were staying right next door at the Grand Wailea, so we had a nice stroll on the beach and walked right up to Duo. We had reservations for 8pm and were seated right away. Unlike the staff at Spago, the staff here was very friendly and welcoming. The wine list was on an ipad which was a very nice modern touch that I had not yet seen at another restaurant. I began with the Caesar salad which was good, but not great. My husband had the onion soup, which he loved...and I should have ordered instead of my salad, because it truly was delicious! For our entree's, I went with the fillet Mignon and was disappointed. I've honestly had a better steak at the Outback. He opted for the raw bar and was as happy as can be with his decision. We shared the white cheddar truffle mac and cheese which was very tasty when served piping hot, but once it had cooled a bit, the Bechamel based sauce broke and was inedible. We did not order desert as we were both quite full, but did enjoy the fun, complimentary cotton candy at the end of the meal.

Although this is the go to brunch place in Wailea, I actually was more impressed with the dinner. Mark and I went here on our honeymoon for dinner and we were VERY impressed. We started with a great bottle of wine and went right to the beef since we had enough fish by that time. Mark had the 20 oz Prime Porterhouse and I had the 7 oz Prime Fillet Mignon. They were cooked to perfection and beyond delicious. I would highly recommend the baked potato on the side... Oh and share it because it is the size of a small child. They brought out this HUGE baked potato with all of the sides: cheese, bacon, chives, sour cream and all of the goodness that makes a potato yummy. We ended with a chocolate souffle which was very decadent. Then to my surprise and Mark's excitement, they brought out cotton candy. Every night they have a different flavor of cotton candy they bring to the table at the end of your meal. It was so fun and refreshing and quite tasty. I would highly recommend Duo for their dinner as well as the brunch buffet!

Very good breakfast but a below average dinner. Fab dish was ok. Fish and chips was ok. Chocolate soufflé was one of the worst I have ever had and it's pretty hard to mess up a chocolate soufflé. Great drinks and service though.

My wife and I went here for her birthday and were very happy with the entire experience. They have a great drink selection and the atmosphere is very nice. There is complimentary valet parking. The food was very good but not over the top spectacular like I have experienced at other high end restaurants. Still, I would definitely go back. Our total cost with a $68 bottle of wine and two other drinks was about $300 with the tip.

first and foremost, we stop by the lobby bar for a drink before going to Duo, i ask for a citron ketel one vodka from jennifer i believe was her name.. she seems like she has done one too many lines of coke, sunning around, not once looking up, basically go about things like she is on cruise control... brings me my drink, brings my guy his drink, no bar nuts, not even an offer... we order another round... and i ask for the bill... brings me the bill... she has charged me for Belvedere vodka, when i ask why... she says i asked for citron, and since she didnt have ketel one, she went with what she "had available" which was belvedere... hmm, maybe you should have asked me if i wanted bel, instead of ASSuming... but i guess she figures im a tourist and dont know better... as an employee myself of Hilton, working as a bartender/server, i would make sure to ask my "guest" if they would prefer another kind of vodka. whatever, when i complain and joe or jim or whatever his name was called me back, she was trying to justify what she did.... im quite disappointed.. Duo.... got a seat, out server, a french gentleman was quite nice, service is up to par... food,,,,, utter CRAP.... rib eye, no bone... shit... mashed potatoe w goat cheese on top i belieeve was eeh... ordered another side that was forgetable, also ordered the crisp half chicken... no flavor whatso ever, they literally got half a chicken, flattened it, and basically crisped it.. thats all...yes the cotton candy is a nice touch,... but we do the same at hilton on buffett days so i wasnt too impressed.. all in all $250.00 for 2 ppl was NOT WORTH IT AT ALL... coming back to Maui in December,,, have no plans on stepping foot in four seasons... you pay for the name, not the food.. had better food at sorentos down the road in kihei...

Visited 10/4/11 during our honeymoon. We went for dinner - enjoyable and Breakfast - GREAT MEAL. We really enoyed the service, from the moment we walked in. Never had to ask for anything, our wait staff was always re-filling drinks or providing a new clean napkin before we could ask. Wife had an omelette and was good. I had Steak and Eggs. What I loved about this breakfast was it was a REAL steak. The ambiance is fantastic as well. We could see hints of the extensive swimming pools and landscaping, but felt privately apart from hotel guests. Shady, but outdoors seating. Very comfortable vibe and walking around Four Seasons hotel after breakfast was great fun. We stayed down the beach at the Marriott so it was an easy walk, no car needed

Beautiful breakfast and brunch buffet! I still have dreams of the coconut syrup being drizzled over freshly cooked French toast made with Hawaiian sweetbread. The pastries were topped with large fresh fruit, and every bite was soft and sweet. Being a huge fan of the custom made omelette's I immediately took the opportunity to have one of Duo's courteous chef's prepare my request. We enjoyed the buffet so much when we arrived home in Austin, we sought out the Four Seasons here in Austin to try the buffet for New Years day.

Our favorite meal on Maui so far. The desserts were innovative and refreshing. The beef sashimi was melt in your mouth with a sweet soy sauce that complimented rather than mask the beef flavor.

I really don't fully understand the current rating of Duo. We had 3 meals there (breakfast, lunch and dinner). All were adequate, but certainly not worthy of 4.5 stars. The breakfast and lunch are good and will meet the requirements of just about anyone for an adequate meal. Nothing more or less. As for dinner, that was a bit of a let down. They have an all-you-can-eat seafood raw bar on the weekends that we were really excited to try. It included lobster, oysters, shrimp and some other assorted seafood dishes. The oysters were really good and the lobster tails were good as well. The lobsters are farm raised in Kona and resemble maine lobsters. Not the best I've had, but not bad either. The shrimp were unpeeled which I found annoying, but I know I'm particular that way. The steak was the biggest let down for me. It was just ok. And, considering we were eating their signature steak, I expected to be wowed. By comparison, I'd rate a Morton's or Del Frisco's at 4.5 stars and this steak was a solid 3. All in all, I would not rush back for dinner. If you're debating it, I strongly advise going to Spago if you're in the mood for seafood.

Don't go! Over priced and over rated! The food was not worth the price and the ambience isn't as good as the restaurant across the pool, Ferraro's. If you want to eat at Four Seasons, go to Ferraro's. The service wasn't great and the waiter had no personality. The cotton candy they give you after dinner seems cool and different but tastes terrible. Better restaurants on the island!

Ambiance. Open-air dining, poolside, at the Four Seasons Resort in Maui. Enough said. Service. The service was really good, so much so that the manager went from table to table to ensure everything was up to standard. It's what you expect at the Four Seasons. Food. While I only dined here for breakfast, I must say that it was quite nice. Simple, yet effective breakfasts are the order of the menu. While the price is artificially high due to being the Four Seasons, the amount of food you get is actually surprising. A nice touch they add is that every day, a new juice is presented to the table in the form of a "shooter". They get creative, such as beet & orange juice. There is also several buffet options if you are so inclined.

DUO is definitely one of the best restaurants in Maui and we've tried just about all of them! The service, the food, the atmosphere, the staff seriously does everything they can to make you feel like you are their most important guest and we love that about DUO. On top of all of that, their food is delicious, tender, juicy, flavorful, just a dream. LOVE this place!!!

I've had better and for a lot less money. The food is seriously just average. The service didn't impress, the entire service was leisurely to say the least. The dessert was ridiculous. The serving plate was 13 inches and the actual dessert was about 5 inches and to add insult to injury the thing tasted pretty lousy too. When I pay a whole lot of money for my dinner I need to be suitably impressed and in this case I was far from impressed.

We dined at Duo to celebrate a special occasion. This decision came after a friend who works in the hospitality industry highly recommended it as an alternative to where we originally planned to visit. Thankfully, we were able to get a reservation very easily. It was not as busy as I thought it would be, which was nice because we were able to be seated near the water at a perimeter table. However, I could not help but notice that it took quite a while for us to be acknowledged and greeted after we were seated. Like I said, it wasn't busy at all. It would've been nice to have been offered some water, even if our server was busy. Once we met our server, however, we were delighted with her helpfulness and friendly demeanor. She took the time to explain the menu to us, as well as the various promotions and specials that were currently being offered (they were participating in the annual Restaurant Week prix fixe dinners for charity, and they also offer a buy-one-entree-get-one-free Kama'aina special). I appreciated her explanation of the various types of meats, preparations, and additional sides. We went all-out with this celebration dinner. Among my favorite of our appetizers was the saffron & chorizo clams with grilled bread. It was delicious and the clams were cleaned very well, no grit and just one dud. The duo of fries (potato and sweet potato) with a duo of dipping sauces also proved to be a fun app... especially since the creamy aioli had truffles in it! My surf and turf was pretty good, too. Not amazing or extraordinary, but tasty nonetheless. My side of green beans arrived carelessly doused in what tasted like raw garlic, which was not appreciated as it burned and left a lingering and overwhelming flavor of raw garlic in my mouth. This was unacceptable, even for a garlic lover like myself! Fortunately, our server was prompt to offer a replacement. The truffle mac-and-cheese, which was highly recommended, tasted heavy and greasy in the most unflattering way. Honestly, it tasted like the overcooked pasta mixed with the same creamy truffle sauce as the duo of fries appetizer. Here, however, the truffle flavor was overpowering. It made me wonder if they used actual truffle or the less desirable "truffle oil" method of adding truffle flavor. The desserts we ordered were a similar story: pretty good, but not quite what I had expected from the reviews or from a restaurant at a Four Seasons resort. Actually, we also observed a distinguished couple at an adjacent table expressing their displeasure over their food with the manager, right as we were wrapping up our dinner. This stuck out to me because I had seen the manager walking throughout the dining room during our entire meal as he greeted and visited at select tables. He never once made eye contact with anyone at our table, despite passing by us nearly a dozen times. He did, however, thank us and say goodbye as we were exiting. Which I thought was kind of odd. All in all, our dining experience here left much to be desired. I couldn't help but feel as though our meal was overpriced, even with the "special" buy-one-get-one-free "deal," which honestly didn't phase me - I would gladly have done without the special if the food quality and overall dining experience was a notch higher.

I almost feel like I need to write to reviews. One for the brunch and one for the dinner. But, I will group it together for ease. Their breakfast/brunch was VERY good. I won't say amazing, but definitely satisfying. Their staff is so attentive and it really pleased me that they seemed to really care about their customers. (Donna was the best!!) They remembered our names each morning with out being prompted and even remembered little tidbits we had mentioned the day before. Can't beat the service. each morning they had the standard fare of breads, cereals, fruits, bacon, eggs, etc. but they also had rotating specials like a chocolate bread pudding with apple compote, corned beef hash, croque madam, and crab eggs benedict. Their fruit juices were to die for. I'm craving a half pineapple half guava juice right now!! Also, every morning they bring you a little set of smoothie shots with different flavors every day! They come in a cute little stand and it's really ag reat idea to give you a taste of the smoothies they offer. Really, my only complaint is that some of the buffet items got a little cold or chewy sitting in the hot plates, but what can you do about that? Any bufet will have that issue. Onto dinner! Oh My God. Pretty much the best fillet I'd ever had in my entire life. A lovely bernaise sauce and a baked potato with all the trimmings really topped it off. Their duo chopped salad was the kind of thing dreams are made of (Endive, Arugula, Point Reyes Blue Cheese, Spicy Pecans, Pineapple, Crisp Bacon Bits, Papaya Seed Dressing). I'm pretty sure I would gladly bathe in the papaya seed dressing. Dessert? Oh man. My fiance got a sundae which had little tiny french macarons on it!! Any place that serves good macarons is o.k. in my book. I had the molten lava chocolate cake with a hot chocolate kahlua shot and caramel ice cream. The hot chocolate shot was the best part of the entire evening. Mmmmm. They almost had to roll me back upstairs after dinner. My ONLY complaint! The restaurant does not transfer very well from breakfast to dinner. The breakfast setting is quite casual and airy and they don't really change anything over for dinner. It's a steak/seafood place so you'd think at night they would try to somber things up a bit, but it still had the same casual feel. All in all, I would be glad to go to Duo again!

Excellent breakfast buffet but super pricey, which is the only thing holding me back from 5 stars. Now that I think about it, this is the four seasons and the view is incredible so its now 5 stars. I skipped the omelette and instead wasted my calories on the fresh pancakes made at the bar, and topped it off with fresh pineapple and some pastries. Everything tastes amazing at this restaurant.

Great location, but for us that was about it. The food was pricey, which would have been worth it if it were amazing, but it was just ok. Nothing we had was great. Their drinks are also over priced. We won't go there again.

the service at duo was OUSTANDING. ate dinner here on saturday night with my parents and my wife. since i was born, raised, and live on maui, a night out a hotel restaurant is a rare occasion. there was even a kama`aina special running so we definitely took advantage of that deal: buy one entree get the other one free. nice! dinner was delicious. they just changed their menu the week prior so our waiter, brad, did bring that to our attention. before, they used to have the entree meat with your choice of sauce preparation but now i guess the chef does the pairings. i enjoyed the elk with the peppercorn sauce on the side. my wife loved her ahi with the miso sauce and the tempura mushrooms. my mom had the mahi (i think with a red curry sauce), and my dad had the chicken. they also enjoyed their choices as well. we also had 2 orders of the baby bok choy, one order with the black bean sauce on the side. when our dinner was brought out, one of the servers accidentally spilled some black bean sauce on the table and on my mom's purse. he quickly apologized and wiped up the mess. very professional and apologetic. after he left, the manager (?), a very sweet girl with an australian accent came over to check on us and asked my mom if they could dry clean her bag. my mom was like, "nah thats ok, its fine, it was just an accident". our waiter also came to apologize for the mishap but hey, it happens. no biggie. the four of us enjoyed our dinner and were surprised at how good the portions were. afte we were done with dinner and our plates were cleared, brad came over to bring us dessert settings. we didnt order dessert but he said they were bringing us something (i think because of the sauce incident). very nice gesture and very unexpected. the dessert that came was awesome. not one dessert to share like we were expecting, but 2 seperate plates of 3 samples! one plate for my parents and one plate for my wife and i. on each plate were 3 little fancy desserts. how's that!?!?! the girl with the australian accent came back again to see how we were enjoying things and to apologize again for what had happened. cant say enough good things about this restaurant. the food was awesome and the entree portions were awesome, but i strongly believe in good service. and the service here really exceeded my expectations. most places wouldve just apologized (which would have been fine) to my mom but these guys offered to dry clean her bag! i didnt even know a bag could be drycleaned! and they even brought us all dessert. thank you brad and the rest of the duo staff for your excellent customer service.

Lucked out and happened to be there during Restaurant week so we got the special 3 course $39 menu. The fish was great especially the risotta cake that was underneath it! The only thing I didn't really like was the meringue dessert.. a bit too sugary for my taste but my fiances neopolitan dessert was great!

We stayed at the Grand Wailea, but friends told us to go eat at DUO! In fact, the best restaurant on the island. The breakfast was great, but dinner was out of this world. My steak was just cooked to perfection and the sauces they have are amazing. If I'm in Maui again, I'm having dinner there for sure! The service was awesome too. We wanted to go back on our last day, but they were full!

used the cash we saved from sneaking a view of the marriot's luau from the poolside and blew all that and then some at duo. NOT worth it. then again, maybe CUT in beverly hills spoiled me from fully enjoying any other steak ever again. also, the service was so subpar for a four seasons restaurant it sorta soured the experience for me. they took forever to give us menus and then forever to take our orders, forgot our wine TWICE, and didn't bring out our sides until we were 3/4 done with our steaks. my filet was forgetable (literally i have no recollection of it besides the fact it was rather dry). the dry aged bone in ribeye was better but that's not saying much (though the boy loved it of course, but he's a sucker for meat). also the atmosphere wasn't on par with the expected caliber of the restaurant: cafe style, overlooking various pools which sported closed umbrellas and towels left behind scattered loungechairs. the hotel grounds itself was beautiful but i can't say the same for the outdoor seating area. go elsewhere.

Nice 4 Seasons location as you would expect. Would rank this number 3 at the hotel after Spago and Ferraros. This is positioned at the steak -seafood niche. Nice wine list and usual markup for HI. Had a gin and tonic which was served with a carafe of tonic water which had a strange taste like it was bulk, off brand, or something. Heck, 4 Seasons Santa Barbara give you a nice fresh bottle of Schweps with every drink! Appitizers of Surfing Goat Cheese Fritter and Tomato Salad 3 ways were both average. Frankly, the tomatoes were a bit tasteless and under ripe; any of you who have had fresh New Jersey tomatoes in July know what I mean! Entres of 5 oz filets were both ok, again growing up with Iowa grain fed beef, you know what it should taste like! Sweet corn was great, Duo fires were just ok: sweet potatoe part of it was fine but other potato half should have been some nice duck fried shoestrings. Pastry Chief was EXCELLENT. Raspberry souflle will stand up to anything that Mario, Gordon, or Bobby puts out! Service was attentive and friendly; really didn't volunteer to explain the menu and steer you to the best stuff. 5 nights to eat in Maui and this was fine for one of the nights. Entry level bottle of wine brought check to $260 for 2.

Excellent steaks & salads. Yeah, how often will you hear me talk about the salad I had? Attentive service, and since the seating is mostly outdoors and poolside, it's not stuffy at all like a nice restaurant at the Four Seasons could be. On the pricey side but well worth it. The Kama'aina discount for locals is nice; I'll be returning.

DUO was amazing! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I got The Lime in the Coconut martini, and it was my favorite drink of our entire week in Hawaii. The lobster bisque was yummy, but a little sweet for such a big portion. The macaroni and cheese was very rich but delicious. We got the filet mignon and NY strip, and both were cooked perfectly with great flavor. I especially loved the steak sauce. Cotton candy was a nice touch at the end. Definitely expensive, but totally worth it.

We went here on our first night after arriving to Wailea on our mini-honeymoon. The hotel is beautiful. We got there early and explored the pool area, which is really amazing. The restaurant itself is oriented on a lanai facing the pool. Our reservations were for 8:30, so we watched the moon set. Ask for the kama'aina special if you are kama'aina. It's a really good deal! They didn't ask to see my ID but I think my name and the fact that I gave a Honolulu phone number for the reservation and my Hawaiian bracelets gave it away. :) I had the flat iron steak and my husband had the dry aged bone in prime rib. The prime rib came with a BBQ sauce which was different, and the ends were slightly charred. A very different way of preparing prime rib for him. My flat iron steak was great, I loved it. It came with tempura Hamakua mushrooms and the tempura was light and tasty and the sauce was very flavorful. My steak was just how I like it, lean, with lots of flavor, juicy, and pink throughout. We also ordered the Duo chop salad to start. The salad was delicious, although it had a little too much onion in it for our taste. I had the Hana Meadow cocktail which had Hana grapefruit juice in it. I liked it, but the cocktails are very expensive. Kind of a one-time thing. The service was very good. The waiter who filled our water was amazing, he was totally on top of everything! I would definitely recommend this restaurant. I don't think my husband would get the prime rib again but there was lots on the menu to choose from. If we went again, I would like to try something from the sea.

First, I love the Four Seasons. So gorgeous. Duo is beautiful and not that expensive. Freaking Mama's Fish House was more expensive!! We got the porterhouse, DELISH, the fried rice was delish. Cocktails were extremely well made. So yummy. The bread was super yummy. The cotton candy at the end was a nice surprise, super sugary though. We got to see the luau from our seats so it's pretty much like we paid for a luau!! :) Very romantic dinner.

Came here straight from the airport on my first trip to Maui and was pleasantly surprised with the meal had here. The fish dishes were outstanding and the souffle was excellent as well. Pricey, but that's to be expected while dining at the 4 Seasons.

excellent customer service...i'm all about food when i'm on vacation...after dinning at ferrero's for lunch around 2, i called to make reservation for Duo that nite at 8....still haven't digest my food from lunch & cannot decide what to order....the waiter actually indicate that i can order from kids menu if i'm not hungry...i felt bad & ordered $45 beef for 6 oz.. without any side dishes...it was probably the best quality beef....it was definitely the best customer service ever!!!

dear four seasons, i am shocked. SHOCKED. you are the four seasons. the FOUR SEASONS, for chrissake. your reputation precedes you, and you have industry access (read: money) to the best of the best. my question to you is... what the hell?? the goat cheese fritters were greasy, the crabcake was bland, the beet emulsion was a FOAM (emulsion does not = foam), the truffled potato "spuddies" were horrifyingly sticky, gloppy, and tasted more like plastic than truffle (also... truffles in june? ever hear of using seasonal ingredients?), my mahi was unimaginatively cooked, the "orange butter" sauce tasted like regular old melted land o' lakes, and the other sauces on the menu were completely out of season as well. yes, the desserts were phenomenal, but dessert does not a five-star restaurant make. i'm also a little less than psyched that you have the opportunity to support the island's economy by buying from local farmers, yet you choose instead to use non-seasonal, non-local ingredients on your menu. you have thoroughly disappointed me, duo. get it together. immediately. yours, lauren f.

The location of this place is perfect. I ate out on the terrace. You can make this a very romantic night if you wish at this place. The service is very good. While I didn't have the steak, I did eat the fish. Food was served slowly in a nice non-rushed pace. Their high remarks you read in the local press is well deserved. The Four Seasons does a great job at training their staff in etiquette. It's nice to be at a place away from the busy tourist spots (Lahaina / Kannapali).

I really, really wanted to give this place 5 stars, but I can't. It is a superb restaurant for many reasons: The view: OK, it's in the Four Seasons resort. It's difficult to have a bad dinner with such a great view of the ocean. The service: The ENTIRE staff was on the mark. No slackers here. Don't see your server? Don't worry- others will help. Maybe it's the aloha spirit. I just call it damn good service. The food: Unfortunately the food is the reason why I can not give DUO five stars. Per usual, I began my subtle investigation of our server to ask which dishes he felt were the strongest. I got everything he recommend. -Lobster Bisque- Very rich. Very smooth and buttery. If you love lobster bisque, you will really really enjoy this dish. I for one, do not care for soups that are too rich. I feel it takes away from the lobster. -Endive Chop Salad- Super light and refreshing. Tiny chops of pineapple to add sour kick to the salad. I really enjoyed it. If you're looking for crazy heavy sauced salad- this is not for you. - The Kobe beef steak: It's good, but for an 8 oz steak, I expect more than just a flash searing of heat and mushroom sauce. It is amazingly tender, though. Sauce was not bad- fair. A bit on the salty side. -Seared Ahi tuna: I asked the server which fish dish was the star of the show. This was his recommendation. The cut of Ahi is top notch, but what else would you expect from a top end restaurant in Maui? It's preparation was mediocre, at best. The pickled seaweed was very nice. -Complimentary cotton candy: How can you go wrong with fresh cotton candy? WIN! Hope this helps. Enjoy!

Breakfast. This place is slow, over priced , understaffed and the food is very expensive for what you get. I had the ranch skillet, which was supposed to have some Portuguese sausage. Once it came I noticed that it was just sausage links, the kind you get from the frozen section, for about $1.50. The thing is we had breakfast here yesterday and my dad had the Portuguese sausage and that's what I wanted. The eggs were fine, I would have complained but no one came over for about 30 minutes. Then when I complained she argued with me, said "that's what you ordered," and just gave is the check, everything was about 24$ per plate. Rip off!!! Terrible service, I might not stay at the four seasons again. Over $100 for breakfast equal to McDonald's, except McDonald's has better service and at McDonald's they would make up for a mistake if you brought it to their attention. Dinner: filet mignon was very good and service was good. That's why this place gets 2 stars not one. DO NOT GO TO BREAKFAST!!!

Really a 3 star, but having 3 kids with us they were accommodating I there service and dinner was above average. The server took the young boy to see the cotton candy machine, a nice plus. Entrees took a good 60 minutes, little on the slow side for a hotel staffed kitchen. Server took 20% off with out asking us. Nice touch on there part. I had the Rib eyewroth the skirt steak prep of onions and blue cheese, preferred mid ratrare, got med. Cheese cake for dessert was average, needed more of a stronger cheese cake flavor and texture. Over all a good dinner.
