Cafe Kula is where you go when you're desperate. Desperate for booze ($9 for a small rum mixer) because the bar hasn't opened, desperate for drinks or quick food. It's a glorified overpriced convenience store with a small "grill" in the back and it's what convinced us to get an uber and head to an actual grocery. 3 dollars for a banana is outrageous. And so was the line for one small pancake. On the plus side they do have quite a bit of seating, so grabbing an overpriced coffee and sitting here isn't such a bad idea - the view after all, is gorgeous.

Resort cafe that is a nice stop for lunch. Outdoor seating with grand, and I do mean Grand views of the surroundings, the ocean and some of the other islands. Good mix of Hawaiian and American food fare. Servers are pronto and efficient.

Cafe Kula nearly saved my life. Here's how: I have the combined appetite of a Billy Goat and Shrek, so waiting for everyone to get ready in the morning really stirred up those hunger pangs. When everyone was ready, my Dad and sis decide that they'd much rather swim than eat. OMFG. My stomach nearly ate itself while waiting for them to get ready.. and they decide to go swimming instead of eat??!!!!!!! I almost busted out some Half-Korean Incredible Hulk action. asdfjkl; Thankfully, Cafe Kula was near enough to where my step mom could look around at the shops while I stuffed my face with goodies. Although not the most complicated of dishes or the most gourmet, the food was still good. It was basic health-conscious breakfast grinds... Good, and expensive. Thankfully, I was able to just charge it to my room. (Thanks Dad!) Really basic breakfast runs from 6am-11am: cereal & milk, granola & milk, pastries, bagels & cream cheese, lox & bagel, fruits, etc. Hot, cooked breakfast runs from 7am-11am: breakfast pizza, quiche, sausage biscuit, breakfast burritos, french toast, waffles, etc. EGG WHITE, SPINACH & TURKEY BACON BURRITO With cheddar cheese wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla, served with salsa and a side of fresh fruits yelp.com/biz_photos/cafe… This wrap was pretty thin for my liking, but still tasty and fulfilling enough to keep the Korean Hulk quiet for an hour or so. I loved this combination of ingredients, especially with the salsa. (Even though I had to do my own sprucing up of the salsa with some tabasco.) PORTUGUESE SAUSAGE BURRITO Scrambled eggs, Portuguese sausage and cheddar cheese wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla yelp.com/biz_photos/cafe… This was perfect with the added spinach I requested. This was thicker and much more filling than the other egg white burrito. The thick chunks of Portuguese sausage were juicy and extremely flavorful. These bad boys are what made this wrap as great as it was. And it paired perfectly with my spruced up version of the Cafe Kula salsa (and the Mango Strawberry Rita I had poolside). VERDICT If you're looking for a unique dining experience with epicurean-type twists on traditional favorites, then this probably isn't what you're looking for. BUT if you're looking for a convenient, health-conscious, feel-good, "I don't have to run a marathon after eating" kind of meal, then heyyyyyyyy now... this may be for you. But even though I wasn't really looking for a healthy meal, and I was looking for something tasty enough to settle my hunger pangs, Cafe Kula did it for me. Two thumbs up for that. 31 Yelps Review Challenge - #04/31

It's located in the Grand Wailea Resort, so expect it to be expensive even though it's a cafe. A casual place for a quick lunch with outdoor seating and a fantastic view. I ordered the Kalua Pork plate, which was shredded pork with a side of rice and macaroni salad. At $15 a plate, the pork wasn't flavorful or anything to remember. My friend ordered chicken katsu sandwich and she said it tasted like fish. I think the only thing someone liked in our group was the cheeseburger.

First off, this place was conveniently located between our room and the main entrance. After looking around, I noted 2 seating areas, one inside the cafe and another outside. It seems as a good place to grab a pastry and coffee but @ $3.65 for a small coffee and $4.65 for a large coffee maybe I can just make the one in my room. They have a grill towards the back which makes breakfast items and lunch/dinner items. They also have a small ice cream selection if ones in the mood for some a nice cone or scoop from the local Hawaiian ice cream maker. Towards the front of the store there is a section dedicated to liquor and beer selections although small but available. They offer a small selection of sandwiches, salads, yogurts and I saw a lot of boar head salami options as well as prepared sushi plates. Now for the people running the store. The young guy stocking was cheerful and a good greeter. The cashier on the other hand named "Tess" didn't seem one bit happy to be there. She never engaged in eye contact and was annoyed when I asked her the price for some items. Overall, would of given the place a 4/5 but serve can be better. Quality of items is decent. Come on people smile and greet customers no matter their age, we are on vacation and don't need attitude.

Yes. Everything is pricey here. It's the Grand Wailea! What do you expect? If your staying at the Grand Wailea, then it's good to know that Kula Cafe is there, open 5:30 AM to 8 PM. It is deli style. Great for coffee and pastry in the morning. I had the Lilikoi (passion fruit) malasada and the Macademia nut bread loaf (the best value on breads/pastries here compared to other items). I would gladly try any of their dishes but I just wanted coffee and a pastry. The Coffee is very good Maui coffee here as well. It has a nice outdoor seating area with an ice view of the property. Yes, it's pricey but not as pricey as other eateries on this property. Very convenient.

Extremely expensive. 2 grande latte, 3 croissants and 1 little kids milk. $32 I know this is the Grand Wailea, but there is no reason to be that expensive.

Absolutely not worth it for breakfast. Have been coming to this resort for 10 years, and every year the quality goes down in this particular cafe. Breakfast for 3 was $10 less than the full blown, fabulous buffet downstairs. Not sure how they do it, but all three breakfasts had literally no flavor. Checked in with our friends who had eaten there yesterday, and they said the same thing - bland, overpriced, not worth the time or money. I would recommend the buffet in the Grand Dining room any day over Cafe Kula.

Pricey but for breakfast it did hit the spot for breakfast. I'm not complaining about the price since it was on a 5 star resort so it was expected and I would say a nice stop on our Maui tour. I would recommend if staying at the Grand Wailea but if not, try out other spots on the island, too much local flavor to ignore.

Soo overpriced! Be sure to hit the Safeway on your way to the hotel to pick up some breakfast items. As if they don't charge enough for the resort fee and the required valet parking fee.

The comments that I have read are mostly to do with the price. 1, you are in Maui. 2, you are in a Waldorf. Now I was waiting for a scoop of ice cream and this a$$ m%#*@ cuts in front of me. I was not going to go off my hinges as I was having too good of a time. But the lady behind the counter got him back for me. He ordered a slice and she picked it up by the corner and flung it into the oven. I am sure he didn't see it, but I had a good time with it. When I got my ice cream I found them to be delicious. 2 scoops was $5.50 and bag of chips another 5 bucks, but it was still less than the K fart in town and I am quite sure they didn't have homemade ice cream like that. They were pleasant to me and that's all I ask for!

When you are at the Grand Wailea and want a snack, and don't want to walk to th the shops, this is your best bet. They have breakfast and lunch options as well as snacks. They carry Lappert' s ice cream. Kust be prepared to pay A LOT. You would be better off in most cases walking to Whsler's at the Shops at Wailea.

I am a slave to Starbucks so it doesn't matter how overpriced it is, I'm still going to get my fix. I've read the reviews....it's a 5 star resort expect the prices but if I am going to pay $9.13 for one Tall size coffee, I expect service with a smile and maybe even an Aloha/Mahalo not a crabby-@ss attitude. On a positive note, they open at 6am!!!!!

When I first saw this place, I thought it would be a convenient quick meal option over the other restaurants on the property. But for the very average breakfast, it was overpriced and totally not worth it. Two adults, one 5 year old and one two year = $70! How did that happen? We spent about the same for the all-you can eat buffet breakfast option with custom-made omelets, smoked salmon, bacon, eggs, and drinks included in the Grand Dining resaurant. Needless to say, we ate the rest of our breakfasts here. But for dinner, we sent the kids here with the grandparents twice while my husband and I ate at other non-kid friend options and they loved the fish sticks.

This is the only real fast and casual place on the Grand Wilea property. You order at the counter and your food is prepared In front of you. The prices were outrageous. I ordered the Chicken Quesidia which was very very mediocre. It came with old guacamole, flavorless salsa, and some sour cream. The staff was not very friendly at all. They acted like it was an imposition to charge our room. They do, however, have a good selection of grocery items. Their prices are still outrageous though. If you are going to spend the money, spend it on something more memorable.

We stopped by for basic salads to take back to the room. A medium sized salad that came with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber and red onions ran about $7. Great homemade tasting ranch dressing. Drinks were overpriced.
