Decent resort restaurant with funny wait staff and great seafood boil on Thursdays Food - 3 to 4 stars We lucked out coming here during happy hour on a Thursday. Their Thursday special is the "Southern" style seafood boil consisting of crab, prawns, clams and potatoes. This was really good. The crab legs were really good (meaty, fluffy) and the sauce was perfectly season. My wife and I eat quite a lot of shellfish in general and she said that's probably the best seasoning for a boil she ever had. The rest of the menu looked decent, nothing too inspiring. Service 3 to 4 stars We sat at the bar and was entertained by the bartending staff. They have good sense of humor and was quite attentive even when they were clearly busy Price - 2 to 3 stars It's at a resort, so as expected it's pricey. Come during happy hour to help offset this. Atmosphere - 3 stars A little 'sterile', but nice view of the pool and the ocean beyond.

Ever drink and meal was well prepared. Service was always personable, polite and smiling faces. Drinks and food poolside will take a while. Order ahead of time and be patient. We tried almost. Everything on the menu, including drinks. Food is ample, you can split and you shouldn't be hungry with drinks. If you want a fancy glass, you'll have to sit in the bar. No glass poolside. Waitress / waiters do not come by often. You're not too far from the bar to go order your own food or drinks. Bathrooms are nearby, you will share with hotel guests and swimmers. Breakfast, lunch and dinner have different vibes. Live music during certain hours at night.

The ambiance is great, the furniture is modern and clean. The wait staff is friendly and attentive, refilling your water, etc. I can imagine the service can get slower during their peak times. We came here for the breakfast buffet 2 mornings and dinner/drinks one night. By coincidence, we came on a day that had 50% off entrees. They will add gratuity to the prediscounted bill. Bread baskets are by request only. The bread was cold. The food for dinner was okay. Not amazing by far and not horrible either. As far as price, it's standard issue at any hotel you are dining at especially in Hawaii. So is it pricey? In that aspect yes but not unusual especially for the convenience of staying at the hotel to dine. The brunch on the other hand has the ambiance and food down. The juices were cold. There was a live omelette station and the sticky buns are amazing. You also get 25% off if you are staying at the hotel and is totally worth it. Overall, depending on what you are looking for this place isn't bad.

I can't comment on the food here, but the cocktails were good. We walked right in to the bar area one day and sat ourselves at table with a nice view of the sunset. It's a relaxing and very pretty open air restaurant. It took longer than I would've liked for a waitress to come over to us, but being in laid back island mode, I wasn't too bothered. I ordered their Tropical Itch ($14), which was a mix of rum, bourbon and tropical fruit juices I believe. It came in a tall glass with a wooden back scratcher in it which was pretty cute. It was tasty and not weak at all. I wanted to eat here, but we were out and about the whole time we stayed at the Marriott, so I didn't get a chance. It sounded like they have some good offerings though, like half off entrees on Mondays and Tuesdays, and all you can eat prime rib and crab for $45 on Fridays and Saturdays.

Went with locals as they highly recommended the hotel restaurant. They were correct! Phenomenal service and great food! Handcrafted drinks were a very popular event with the Lamp Lighter being the favorite. Fresh crab legs were out of this world. Wait staff extremely friendly and on their game. Get over to Marriott Waikaloa, plenty of self parking, the music was great too... Live!

With thoughts of a previous Marriott buffet experience while on Maui that was massive and catered well to a varied palate, and considering the other reviews, we arrived hopeful to the crab/prime rib focused dinner buffet as a trial. We left disappointed and feeling like our stomachs needed a raw food cleanse. A buffet can be done very well, this was not one of them. Granted, the prime rib wasn't too shabby, and the crab was well, boiled salty crab...but there was nothing that added up to "$45/pp worthy." The food is on the calibre of a chain restaurant, and the selection was rather disappointing: a chicken dish, a pork dish, seafood pasta, soup (the tomato/crab bisque we had that night was actually good...but heavy crab theme emerging here), steamed basic veggies that one can get from any package fresh or frozen at a grocery store, baked potato w/ toppings of your usual variety, cheap desserts, some nice greens with a few toppings for salad, a pasta salad that absolutely had to come out of a plastic tub from some major vendor, fruit that included strawberries, pineapple, cantaloupe and honey dew (the latter being so plentiful on Hawaii...? I could again have gone to a grocery store and bought a plastic bin of these ready cut items) and a couple of stir fries. That was it. If you're looking for an innovative, locally sourced, fresh and amazing food experience, do not go. If you want to spend $45/pp for the heck of it and eat a lot of mediocre prime rib and steamed crab legs, butter and carbs, "an Applebee's kind of night on the town," then knock yourself out. But if you're a true foodie, this is not your place by a long shot. At the same time, the staff at the prime rib station and the also the bussing crew were very kind. And, the people watching of all the guests lounging around the pools (the dining area is right next to the hotel pools) was very entertaining.

Celebrated dad's birthday and wish we didn't do it here! As a party of 6 adults we were seated at 2 round 4 seater tables with umbrellas over. Very awkward both for conversation and balancing our plates. Food: Very small buffet for the price ($45) per person. Crab was good, not salty or soft and prime rib was good tasty. Salad bar, better at Pizza Hut, and a potato bar with more toppings than the salad bar. Desserts, very attractive and eye appealing but not taste appealing. Beer, $7, a bottle. We were given a kamaaina discount but then slapped with a $40 gratuity so basically we had a $4 discount. We then figured out why our waiter was so "on it"! Advice: Go somewhere else that deserves your hard earned money

I don't write negative reviews, so this will be a first for me. THE MOST TERRIBLE SERVICE AT THE BAR EVER! Went in on a Saturday night, and the bar was not busy. However, for some reason it took the bartender (Kim) for EVER to greet my sister and I with menus. Once we decided what we wanted, I actually had to get her attention to let her know we were ready. Seemed like she was just ignoring our side of the bar. I kindly asked her if we could order some drinks, and she rudely replied "I don't know, are you going to be nice?" ...Unreal! I was so taken back by that comment, I didn't know what to say other than "can I speak to a manager?" So unprofessional. The manager didn't do anything to help the situation either. So much for a great customer experience.. NO ALOHA. Save your money, and go somewhere with nice staff!

The food was lacking seasoning, but the crab legs, and exceptional service made up for it. Compared to other buffets we've been to, the selection of entrees, desserts, and atmosphere is what really makes coming here enjoyable. We thank our server Remi for making our visit extra special.

We wanted to check out the hotel restaurant on our first night stay. It was a nice atmosphere and a pleasant music in the background. It wasn't necessary questioning who we are if the place is open to the public. Service was good and the menu selection and portion sizes satisfied our expectation. Quality of the food was average. Dinner selection was linguini pasta and fish of the day. A bit overpriced to my experience dinning in similar places. Didn't like the management decision not to offer bread basket as part of full service with the entry. Basket has to be requested!!! Good enough for one night experience, but not to come back.

Puna is an awesome bartender. There should be more associates like him and Elizabeth from the front desk. They are both so kind and welcoming. We have been coming to the Waikoloa almost every 2 years for the past 7-8 years. Both of them have remembered us from previous visits. The daily specials are great and affordable. Again puna from Hawaii calls is awesome and Elizabeth from front desk is the best!!!

I have to agree with some of the other Yelpers! This place is flat out awful. Avoid it at all costs!!!! The hostess was extremely rude when we arrived. Although half the tables were empty, she said there would be a 20 minute wait (really?!?). When we were finally called, a different "hostess" walked way ahead of us and slapped some menus down on the table without saying a word. Our waitress was extremely rude. A member of our table asked what the special weekend buffet offered, and the waitress snapped back "What do you mean what does it offer? What type of question is that?" Seriously?!?!? All this at a Marriott Restaurant. She then recommended that we go "check out the buffet" before deciding what to order. I could tell she was trying to imply we would't like it for whatever reason. I started to feel like she assumed we were 'typical posh tourists" and couldn't stand her job. We went over to check out the buffet, and everything looked nasty! The pasta was overcooked and looked like it had been sitting out forever. They had tons of starch and tried to hide the crab legs. The roasted meat looked dry and unappetizing. We ended up ordering a fish dish, the Chicken Caesar Salad, and the "Farm to Table" House Salad with Chicken. All the ingredients were stale and old, and the "Farm to Table" salad was a total joke. Even though the lettuce was "local," it was old and plain. The dressing was overwhelmingly thick and sweet, while the cherry tomatoes were unripe. The chicken breast was flavorless and chewy. The caesar salad was drowning in dressing and barely edible. Even though I expect high prices and mediocre food at resort restaurants, this place was unacceptable. The pricing was almost insulting based on the quality of service and food. Head elsewhere for dinner! I can't believe this is the only full-service place in the Marriott! It fits in with the "bland and uninspiring" feel of the whole property.

When we got there, it was a nice view of the pool area. The weather made the area hot and the table seemed a bit dirty. The food was amazing! No doubt about that.

Breakfast here is fantastic, lunch is alright, and dinner here is great. There's a different deal or special everyday of the week for dinner, and the seating is comfortable outdoors. Sometimes, birds and cats come around, and the birds can be a little annoying.

We stayed at the Marriott hotel as part of our honeymoon and went here for dinner one evening. We reserved a table for sunset in order to enjoy the sunset while eating. Unfortunately, we were seated such that a tent were blocking the sun. Also, we were seated between two families with screaming children, so that kinda ruined the dinner. We had the buffet with prime rib and the food was great, especially the chocolate dessert (part of the buffet aswell). However, we're not going to eat here again. Too expensive compared to what you get and how the service is.

My wife and I went here for the breakfast buffet our first morning at the resort. The normal price would have put us at $60 for breakfast for two. With our 25% discount, the price was a bit better, but that's because we are paying a resort fee of $25 a day. We're from Las Vegas so we know about resort fees and we know buffets. It's certainly a great view and atmosphere in the morning and the food was good, our service experience was excellent. There's an omelet station with a few good choices, and I did notice some people getting their eggs over easy or fried with however many eggs they wanted. Other selections included fresh fruit, brown rice, scrambled eggs (with or without cheese), bacon, sausage, pancakes, waffles (with waffle maker), rolls, muffins, pastries, etc. Much to my delight there was gluten-free bread and Udi's gluten free bagels. The bagel was so good I had a second with guava jelly. There was a toaster, which I used, but if I suffered from Celiac disease, I would not have used the toaster due to cross contamination. There was also a selection of sandwich meats and a few stations with ingredients for sandwiches, one for oatmeal, and one for miso soup (including tofu, green onions, ginger, seaweed). Overall, this was a good experience for me. We asked about gluten free options for lunch and dinner and our waitress assured us that there were options available and certainly substitutions could be made and that the chefs were trained and aware of gluten intolerance issues.

Reservations were at 6pm on friday which is the prime rib and crab leg buffet. We loved everything! The buffet line looked awesome! Everything looked fresh and was fully stocked. I started out with the salad and the prime rib....very tasty! I went back for seconds...it's a must because it's a buffet! Steamed crab legs with melted butter...love it! The dessert line is incredible! The red velvet cake and the apple pie cake were the best. Thank you to the staff at the restaurant. Awesome job! We will be back. Tip: They also validate parking.

Never let them take your money for this over cooked excuse for fresh fish. So bad, it should be free.

Great outdoor restaurant overlooking the pool. They offer daily specials, from 50% off menu items, to $22 lobster. I wish I was able to try the lobster. We had their breakfast buffet for $29.99 (guests $21.95). My favorite was the egg white omelet station. First time I had egg white omelet and it was divine. It's a lot lighter without the yoke, why don't more restaurants do this? The fruits station was great, everything was sweet and fresh.

We came here on Monday when all the entrees were 50% off. I would probably not eat here on a day when the entrees are full price given the quality of the food. There are much better restaurants on the island for similar prices. The service is very slow but the wait staff is nice. The rib eye steak was just OK - ordered it medium rare and it came out medium. Someone else ordered the mahi mahi and said it was delicious but the portion was very small. The best part of my meal was the field greens salad - the honey dressing was delicious! I wouldn't go out of my way to eat dinner here again.

What a terrible restaurant! Everything here from the service to the food was horrible. We came here to grab dinner after a long day of exploring the island. What a mistake. We should have just grabbed dinner before heading back to the Marriott. The convenience of eating at your hotel in theory is a great idea but with terrible food and bad service it nearly ruins the experience of being at a upscale resort. We waited waited over 20 mins for water even though the restaurant wasn't busy. I even has to refill my own water. (See picture) Nothing we ordered was edible. The "flatbread" we ordered was soggy and had no flavor. It was nothing like the truffle oil gruyere goodness described on the menu. Furthermore, please don't use basic white mushrooms on a pizza and finish it off with olive oil when you're claiming it's truffle. You're not fooling anyone. The appetizer sampler we order also wasn't palatable. The wings were mushy, the pork quesadilla lacked pork and the onion rings weren't fresh. Complete waste of $21. Please do yourself a favor and save your money and go eat outside the resort when you're staying at the Marriott. This restaurant will offer you nothing but disappointment.

This was the restaurant at our hotel, and it was pretty good. They have a really good breakfast buffet with different juices, cereals, omelettes, fruits, waffles, pancakes, bacon, etc. We also ate here once for dinner, and it was alright. I had the seafood pasta, which had shrimp, scallops, and mahi mahi. It was hearty, but wasn't all that flavorful. All in all, a good place to dine if you're staying close by. They also have some really good specials.

This post is for the breakfast buffet. Nice ambiance for breakfast with Hawaiian music in background, view of the pool and beach, and nice breeze. Setting is very nice. Food is good. Omelette bar is great. Terri beef is a bit well done and tough. They have pancakes and waffles. Bagels with salmon - always a good choice. Fruit is very good. They have bacon, sausage, cereals, and even miso soup and rice. Good selection. Service is a bit spotty. Don't let them sit you in the corner behind the plants, they might forget you. Price is a bit high, but expected on the islands. Marriott Elite members get a 30% discount. Not a bad choice if you are staying at the resort. However, there are many other options if you are looking for a breakfast with more of a local flavor.

This is a review of the drinks only. Two nights ago, we came in for a drink and I had a mojito that had absolutely no alcohol. My husband had the most overpriced maitai on the Big Island. Even next door at lava lava on the beach, the drinks start at about $10, not 15-16 like here. Tonight, we came in to have our "free" drinks that Marriott gives you a coupon for when you check in. We were ignored first for 10 minutes. Then the waitress came in, took the coupons and the tip and left. That was about 15 minutes ago. I started writing this as we waited. The drinks just arrived and again, I think the alcohol was omitted. But that is not actually the worst thing. After 2 sips, we decided these drinks were not worth the calories - the taste was sweet and chemical-and left to have drinks at lava lava. Also, i guess the waitress decided we did not deserve napkins to go with the drinks. We had drinks at cafe pesto today who were high quality for half the price here. I would not recommend this place. If the drinks are these bad, I cannot imagine how the food is.

Sad to say, it's a terrible restaurant at a wonderful resort. My mac nut crusted mahi was over cooked, tasted fishy and was definitely not fresh, and my boyfriend's short ribs were dry and tasteless. The service was also terrible, the unfriendly wait staff lacked personality, seemed weary of us and we felt like we were being rushed to leave. It was not a pleasant experience at all. If you are in the service business you should be mindful of your actions whether you are working or not. At almost $40 an entree I'd expect a lot more. The one star rating is for the beautiful hawaiian ambience which this restaurant does not deserve to have a place in.

To begin, all we can say is "Wow!" My wife (a Marriott employee) and I just returned from our honeymoon and we stayed the entire week at the Waikoloa Marriott Beach Resort & Spa. Upon our very early arrival, Beau at the front desk noticed our folder titled "Honeymoon." Without us even asking, Beau upgraded our room to an ocean view. Way to make us happy right off the bat. Our room was clean and the view was amazing. Thanks again, Beau! Another perk is there is not a bad view from anywhere on this property. It is also conveniently located, and the beach is a 2 minute walk from the hotel. If you want to catch a beautiful sunset, this is the place to stay. Other notable mentions are Michael and Evelyn, who are members of the pool wait staff. These two were great. They were very friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and provided us with a free cake for our honeymoon as well as some discounted drinks. We were also quite amazed at how good the food was at the hotel. We did not have one bad meal. They use quality ingredients and everything tasted great! In fact, we ate all our meals except for two at the hotel. Last but not least we wanted to give a shout out to the awesome bartenders at the Hawaii Calls Restaurant, also known as the "Clipper Lounge." Chad and Peter were awesome! Not only did these guys make killer drinks, we also bugged them the entire time about insider information about the island and asked their opinions about many things. They were more than happy to oblige. One side note, my wife and I went on a nature hike and when we returned, we noticed she had an allergic reaction on her hand. Chad must have overheard this, because he promptly went out to the garden area and cut some natural aloe and brought it back for her to use on her hand. You just don't find service like this anymore! As mentioned above, my wife is a Marriott employee. And she said in her 10 years of working and visiting Marriott properties, this was the best experience she's ever had. Thank you to the staff of the Waikoloa Marriott Beach Resort & Spa for helping make our honeymoon a special trip. We will DEFINITELY be back!

We had breakfast here several times during our stay. The All American Breakfast with sausage was delicious. The wait staff tries to push the buffet, but for a hot fresh breakfast, stick with ordering off the menu. Also, it is cheaper at $19.

Got our crab fix. Kama'aina buffet price is $35/person. We love the relaxed atmosphere of the place. The Filipino waiter was the nicest, most attentive person in the house. All staff wished us a Happy New Year. Good buffet for the price.

Nice restaurant decor and location. Food was not up to par though with its re$ort prices. Risotto appetizer was literally a spoonful of risotto plopped into the bottom of a bowl with a few mushrooms laying around. What a joke, its a freaking starch, pile it on there, geez.. The seafood linguine entree while a good portion had some weird flavors going on. I think it was over cooked or something, just wasn't working. All in all they need to take a look at their portion and flavors. Good things were the kids french fries, a nice pineapple turnover dessert and the haupia tropical drink. The staff was all nice and friendly but you could tell they were short staffed. Took forever to get drinks ordered, order food and return to follow up. Would not return until I hear differently.

Hawaii Calls is the main (and only) restaurant in the Waikoloa Marriott. When I first learned that it was the only, I was a bit shocked that such a huge and well known hotel chain would only have one place to eat, but my worries were soon diffused. Of course the food is a bit pricey overall, but what else would you expect from a place that's run by the hotel? I've had their Saimin, Chinese Chicken Salad and their Pupu Sampler Platter. All were delicious! The saimin noodles were a bit overcooked, but it was a large helping and came with lots of meat and kamaboko (fish cakes). In my opinion, the chinese chicken salad had the right amount of dressing and a good greens to chicken ratio. The pupu sampler was by far the best, though. Their wings (it came with 5?) were incredibly mouth watering - crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and sauced just right. A bit of a tropical tang compared to your usual wings, but awesome nonetheless. Went back for breakfast the next day, which was most certainly overpriced. $29 for the buffet (which lacked portuguese sausage... what?!) and $15 for a fruit and yogurt platter. I'd rather go take a walk across the street to the Starbucks...

We stayed a week on the property and would rate everything 5 stars, except the dinner we had at this restaraunt. The fresh fish of the day was Ono. It came with 2 small pieces of what tasted like frozen fish reheated. Even my wife's dinner arrived cold. They offer 50% off all entrees on Tuesdays as a promo. Still not worth it! Grab a drink and watch the most amazing sunset and then walk across the street to Merriman's Cafe.

Gorgeous open air dining overlooking the pool, gardens and eventually the ocean. Some excellent modern surf photography inside if you happen to be sitting at the bar. Had several meals here and all were good. Hi-lights definitely were the poke and sashimi. I could eat that stuff for days. Great wine selection. Service talented enough to be there when you need them but leave you alone enough to have a leisurely meal. Really enjoyed the on-site cat, the birds and relaxation.

We waited and waited and waited for our entrees to arrive -- about ONE HOUR -- meanwhile the table next to us wailed like banshees. The food was okay, but COMPLETELY overshadowed by the service & noise. It was so bad, we had to laugh ... truly awful. A shame, since happy hour & breakfast buffet were quite pleasant. We all got into the elevator & did a group primal scream, we were so glad to get out of there!

love this place. we had breakfast here several times and dinner once. the breakfast buffet is great- theres a nice selection of savory and sweet foods and also an omelet station. the servers are friendly and attentive and on top of it with coffee, tea, and water. it's also nice that they are constantly making fresh pancakes and waffles that are absolutely delicious (especially combined with some of their fresh fruit). dinner was ok- we started with lobster and shrimp summer roll which was ok at best and then had surf and turf for dinner. the steaks were tasty but nothing special and our different seafood choices were all excellent.

The cleanest and prettiest breakfast buffet ever! It is sparkly white and overlooks the beach and pool area. They have an omelet stand and a gamut of other assortments such as beef soup, miso soup, mahi mahi eggs, oatmeal, eggs, Portugese sausage and fruits including papayas. It was just so relaxing to eat there and then walk a few steps to the pool. The breakfast buffet was only $19.95. I also came the other night to the bar to redeem two free mai tais and they were soo strong!!

I liked this place. For breakfast, the buffet is a decent deal. Kids are at a discount. Made to order omlettes. Fresh fruit and the other normal items. Same cost as the normal menu, but more options and you can east more. For dinner, the food was good, but expensive. As others have mentioned, eat on Monday and Thursday for 1/2 off. Really. Then, the food is great and it is a good deal. Service was good for me. Wine was in a bucket of ice. Responsive to my needs. No issues at all. Better than that. Service was good. Check out the special days when you check in.

We stayed at the marriott and came here for convinience. The servers are all very friendly, but can be scarce at times. The food is good, but not spectacular, which was disappointing given how expensive it is!! And I understand that it's "outside" but all the tables and chairs we sat at were dirty and either had bird poop or food over tables. Not exactly appetizing and I expected better maintenance for the price. It's a nice place to eat once, especially at sunset, but save some money and go somewhere else.

In case it's not obvious from other reviews, this is the only restaurant attached to the Marriott Waikoloa. If you are price sensitive; yet staying at the hotel your best bet for cheap eats is at the Queen's Marketplace just off property. For the scenic beauty and sheer convenience of being able to go downstairs and dine on-site this is a great restaurant. My wife and I had both breakfast and dinner here during our stay. I felt slightly violated with the $23.00 breakfast buffet (theoretically we could have bought the $50.00 'upgrade' to the room so we could have dined every morning) but this is resort land so it is what it is. The breakfast buffet has a "OK" selection but the view of the swimming pool/beach is what you really pay for. Dinner is actually quite excellent - you can get your "value" by NOT getting the entrees. The night we dined had a 50% off entree special so that's worth looking into - I got a "fish of the day" entree (something that really means something in Hawaii) - it was excellent. Generally speaking the birds are a nuisance, but their antics are fun to watch. They are VERY smart and in the mornings have devised excellent strategies in obtaining food from the plates of unsuspecting guests (they also are very good at getting anything that falls off the table). There is a feral cat onsite as well; the waitresses will patiently shoo all animals away but frankly their efforts would be more welcome shushing the annoying kids with idiotic parents. (Watch the birds with yellow beaks carefully; they've nested up above in the fluorescent lights above the dining area... I'm not sure if the hotel staff has figured that quite out yet because it's likely a fire hazard) Note the best time to eat at dinner here is on SUNDAY or MONDAY (check for specials). This is generally true all over the Big Island. If you are planning on a "big budget" dinner; call ahead and figure out the appropriate specials.

I ate here for their breakfast buffet, which on the whole was pretty average. The one standout was their "One Dollar" Mamosas, which as the name implies, were cheap and plentiful. The champagne they used was pretty low quality, but it had enough of a kick to it to wake me up at 8 AM (it's a fine substitute for their insanely expensive Konoa coffee). They mix it with orange juice, but if you're there for the buffet, you can get a glass of pineapple, guava or mango juice and mix it up a little bit. The selection was fairly varied, but not so much as to make it ridiculous (it's not the kind of buffet that finds it necessary to over-compensate for its bland food by offering dozens of different cuisines). When I was there, they had a chef who would prepare eggs any way you'd like, including omelets. Aside from that, the buffet selections were mostly carb heavy, so if you need to carb load for a hike or a fun beach adventure the next day or so, there are certainly worse restaurants you could go than here. Their fruits were impeccable, pastries tasty and beef cutlets not half bad. Other than that, the rest of their offerings were pretty run of the mill. Pancakes, bacon, potatoes, stir fried vegetables... all nothing to write home about. The waitresses were all wonderful, though. They were more than happy to help us out whenever we would bug them for creamer, sugar, refills and what have you. One of the waitresses even brought us out a plate of hash browns from the kitchen since they didn't offer any at the buffet. For the price, it's a bit steep unless you're going to carb load hardcore. Breakfast buffet was about $30 per person, but there are other entree offerings that will impact your wallet a lot less. For the only restaurant available at the Marriott, you could do a whole lot worse, but if you're not too picky I'm sure you'll have a fine experience. One last thing, I figure it's worth mentioning: The restaurant is outdoors, so if you're particularly hygiene conscious, you may want to avoid eating here. Birds are regular guests at the restaurant, and will fly in and stick their beaks into whatever they can when you're not looking. They also have a tendency to land on tables and chairs, which wouldn't be that big of a problem, but I don't think I saw any of the employees wipe down the arrangements. Bugs can also make your time miserable, so keep that in mind!

This is the only restaurant in the Mariott hotel in Waikoloa village, big island. We had both the breakfast buffet and dinner here. The breakfast buffet is quite good - typical resort hotel price ($23 per person) but the food and service were both excellent. They had tons of fresh fruit, vegetables, and baked stuff there. They also have some Japanese stuff - porridge and picked vegetables. The buffet included unlimited amount of coffee and a made-to-order omelet. The birds are a nuisance for breakfast in that they try to grab your food all the time. You need to make sure that you cover your plate every single time you leave the table. The price for the dinner is quite ridiculous but they have different specials for each day, which help a lot to make the bill somewhat reasonable. We went when the special was 30% off the entire dinner check. The restaurant was also packed when the special was 50% off all entrees (saw people waiting when we came back to the hotel from our dinner away from here). Just like the breakfast, both food and service were excellent. The best part of the dinner was the sunset. The restaurant faces the pool and the beach, and you get to see an amazing sunset while enjoying a great meal.

Stopped by the Marriott since my daughter in law wanted pasta and the Hilton's restaurant was closed, and the reviews for Macaroni Grill did not provide confidence. My wife, daughter in law and I had a wonderful meal. The waiter was real akamai (smart) and helped us with meal choices and pricing. No 2 for 1 meals on Friday night due to prime rib & snow crab buffet! Great setting, great service, great people.

Ate here for breakfast with my boyfriend one morning! Sooooooooo good. :) I won't comment on the service because I'll be biased . . . My aunty was our server. So, I'm basing this review off of the food. We did the breakfast buffet instead of ordering off the menu, it was amazing. They definitely have an AWESOME SELECTION of food. They had so many different types of breakfast meat - portugese sausage, bacon and regular breakfast sausages. They had sweet potato, scrambled eggs, and an omelet station. The omelet station offered cheese (of course), mushrooms, onions, green peppers, bacon, ham, portugese sausage, regular breakfast sausage, and some other things that I can't remember. They also had tiny little, what tasted like belgian waffles and pancakes with all kinds of different syrups! They had coconut syrup, regular syrup, and I think like strawberry and some other syrups. They had cereals up the ying yang, four different kinds of juices, muffins, pastries, toast, bagels, yogurt, granola. For their selection of fruit they had papaya, cantaloupe, pineapple, strawberries (and I can't remember what others). It was all SOOOOOOOOO good. :) I mean everything I tried was amazing. :) And I think definitely well worth it! Plus, the scenery is amazing. :) Can't go wrong with that!

Lazy staff that's not helpfull for the price you pay. Food was ok at best and drinks were watered down. Seems like everything is boiled.

Great setting, love the location, dinner menu is terrible. Think Denny's. then think would I be happy paying $45 for a steak from Denny's? Crab cakes blech. Ahi chips, eh. Iceberg wedge, blah. linguine tasted like a microwave dinner. Seriously where is Gordon Ramsey kitchen nightmares? Servers are nice, just regular folks. Half off entrees deal is totally hit or miss. I'm guessing if you say you saw the special, WHICH WAS POSTED IN THE LOBBY, for half off, your waitress may kindly ask the manager for an exception and actually honor the discount. The same went for the breakfast buffet discount. Marriott rewards members $21, but again, front desk says discount, waitress says not this week $29.95. Just this once... Mmmm hhhuh. Had take out burger the other night, it was ok.$18.95 and only on the bar menu.

We stayed at the Marriott and decided to gives this a try on our first night. Thankfully we were able to take advantage of the 2 for 1 entree special they have from 5-6 pm. Our meal was nothing special though. We had the Ono special and the fish seemed over cooked and the mashed potatoes were flavorless. Overall very uninspired. Wouldn't come back.

When I first checked the menu at this place (the only restaurant at the Marriott), it seemed very pricey. But, if you sit down before 6 PM, they have a 2-for-1 entree special. So we had a great dinner at a good price and enjoyed a beautiful sunset. We found the wine list prices surprisingly reasonable, so we had a red and a white and took what was left over to our room. Our waitress was very friendly and delightful.

The entrees were half price on Monday and Thursday, so that makes it a reasonable deal. Otherwise the food and service don't justify the price. The ribs entree was huge and better than the fish.

Came here on a Thursday and lucked out to get their half off dinner special. The restaurant is on the Marriott's property and is half indoor and half outdoor seating. I sat outside on a very calm evening (very nice). We ordered the Ribs, Crab and Lobster Bomb, the Beef Short Ribs, and 2 Lemon Drops. I would come back here.

Nice setting. Beautiful view of the hotel pool, natural pond (go and check the barracudas !) and the ocean in the back. Good service for lunch, nice menu with a variety of salads, sandwiches, fish and burgers... Portions are huge ! French fries are ono. Service might be kinda slow sometime but it might not be a bad thing ! Went there for the breakfast buffet which was very nice as well, nice variety of local fruits and food. About the same price as the hilton buffet (maybe a little cheaper) but there are less choices... The Marriott is much quieter though.

Very mediocre food. I am very happy we went on a monday because it was half price entrees. The wedge salad was okay but the dressing was not the best They served mashed potatoes as a side for pretty much every entree which were not very good. I would not go there again even if I got half price entrees.

This was the best place we ate in the Waikoloa area. We also went for the 2 for 1 special before 6pm which was a great deal. The wine list is incredibly reasonable and the food was excellent.

Waaay overpriced. Portions are even smaller than your average fine dining place. The cold seafood sampler had 2 mussels, 1 shrimp, and a small crab claw. The mushroom ravioli consisted of 3 small raviolis in a salty butter sauce. Go across the street to the Big Island Steak House instead. You'll get more for your money and a good meal.

Normally an expensive place to eat but if you look for the ads in the West Hawaii Today newspaper they tend to have specials. We found an ad for $19.95 Surf and Turf for Friday nights so we checked it out. Food quality was very good as was service. The view and ambiance is excellent. Normal menu prices, however, are high. Typical resort prices though.

I heard hotel changed the ownership recently, and I can tell the difference when I check in this time. Front desk is very friendly. Restaurant provides daily special menu, I got southern style seafood on Thursday for just $29. It comes with two half crabs, three shrimps, mussels, Portuguese sausage, corns, and potato. The amount is large, and the flavor is just right for seafood dish. The hotel also gives two free Mai Tai drinks per stay, which goes well with my dinner. I would highly recommend to check out their daily special here.
