I have been Ruth's Chris at Restaurant Row several times, but I found that location was noisy and mediocre in terms of service. However the one in Waikiki is a completely different experience. First of all, my steak was just pure joy. I had to eat every morsel off the bone of my steak. The ambience was nice and what really made the whole experience superb was that every person, including the Manager, was very attentive. I cannot stand a restaurant that I have to try to get the staff's attention just to have them refill my water. You definitely won't find this here. Besides, I don't have to yell across the table when I talked to my friends during our dinner. I definitely like the quality of the steak and experience at this location much better than the one in Restaurant Row and the BLT at Trump Tower.
I love this place especially if you can make it to happy Hour at the bar. Way better the Morton's or Hys. I will just leave it at that.
I heard so much about Ruth Chris where I had to try the Waikiki location. The food was so, so. I was a little disappointed. The waiter was not very nice due to we were there for Restaurant week. Service was bad. We had to wait for our water to be filled, waited forever for our food and bill. I would not recommend this place, maybe the one on restaurant row. Unfortunately, I have been to other locations around the country..and this is the only one I was dissapointed with.
This is my first time to Hard Rock Cafe. The last time I've been to this restaurant is when they used to be located on Kapiolani Boulevard. And I have to admit, I am impressed by this particular location. The inside rocks with plenty of seating, and bright interior. Given I went during the day, so with the big doors open to the lanai seating area and sun shining in, indoors did seem bright (but not in the annoying bright light I can't even see what I'm doing type). The employees are really nice. I happened to go on a day where there was a battle of the bands and I arrived when the last band was playing. There is definitely live music here, but sitting indoors the music was kinda of loud. I don't know if the live music is always this super loud (could have been the type of music being played and how close I was sitting to the stage). I tried a chicken chopped salad and it was excellent. Probably by far the best salad I had. Besides the obvious chicken and lettuce, there was pecans, avocados, tomatoes, and bacon, topped with a vinegrette dressing. The dressing was not overpowering at all (i.e. salad drenched in it, therefore making it a soup and not really a salad). My mom had a turkey burger and was impressed with it. This burger came with a side salad with your choice of dressing. My father was on a burger kick and tried one topped with lettuce, tomoatoe and bacon. My dad asked for medium rare and instead got well done. My dad didn't send it back but instead just ate the burger. This came with a side of fries. I tried a bite and thought it was good but my dad was not impressed. I'll definitely come back again but only if I happen to be in the area as I am not a fan of fighting the tourist crowd in Waikiki to get to this restaurant.
PROS: -KAMAAINA DISCOUNT 15%!!! Wooot. You tourists betta go get hawaiian citizenship. -Loud music playing non stop and live bands twice a day. And its not shetty songs either although I do remember they played Britney Spears. -wave of guitars looks cool and the blue wave behind the bar with the hanging TVs had me in a trance the entire night. Also the rock n roll memorabilia all over the walls are cool to look at. -they single you out if you are celebrating an occasion. Get a free chocolate something in a glass with whipped whatever. -service is great -they refill waters promptly -the food everyone else got looked good (burgers, salads) CONS: -Loud music means you cant hear anything anyone is saying unless you talk loud. -The ribs were supposed to be "fall off the bone" but instead they were "dried to the bone" pretty disappointing. -Kinda dark too. Dont wear sunglasses. -candles on tables are FAKE!!! Lol OVERALL: Place looks cool. I would go back for someone elses birfday. Probably wouldnt get the ribs though.
I rarely go to chains when vacationing but I remember Hard Rock serves up some of the best burgers in the area and it was nice to drop by during happy hour for some cocktails. I ended up getting the original burger while my hubby tried the local burgers, both on Hawaiian sweet buns. I highly, recommend for those times during your vacation where you just feel like going to a cooler and more hip chain! ;)
