Because we live in Wahiawa, this is a great place to have breakfast or brunch! It's on California Ave, just a few blocks from Kamehameha High Way! The only problem with this location is the parking situation. It has a few parking stalls around the establishment, but if the parking runs out, your forced to find street parking. The staff is ways friendly here, even when you have idiot customers who take 20 minutes to order and just stand in front of the cashier looking at the menu. The food is local and decently priced. The portions aren't over whelming, but enough to get you through till your next meal. This place is family friendly, but seating is at a first come first serve. Usually me and my husband will come and sit against the window because the tables that are available set more than just us...with that being said, I wish more people were considerate as patrons/customers of the establishment. Here's another tip: if your undecided, step to the side so that others can order what they want and get through the line quicker! Don't be a douche bag and stand in line holding up the line because you're undecided! Great place to get great breakfast food and menu options are a lot to choose from!!!

I usually really like Koa's, but I am VERY disappointed with my breakfast! I'm actually angry. I understand it can get busy, but that doesn't mean you compromise on your food! I ordered Eggs Benedict and my egg was completely cooked all the way through. It wasn't even slightly runny, it was completely cooked through. Very disappointed because I was treated to breakfast today and I felt that person lost good money. Never ordering this again. Total and epic FAIL!!

Came here for brunch. They have a few options here, not much of a choice. Wife ordered the vegetarian omelet and I ordered the #2 which was Canadian bacon, eggs and sausage. Seating is adequate on a busy morning but the parking is limited. Military: No discount here.

If you have not eaten here you missed it!!! Pancakes are the greatest !! All the food is delicious !

I was hoping their food got better in the years since I've eaten there. I was wrong, it got worse. Ordered: denver omelet, small breakfast (egg, 2 pancakes and 2 links), side of: potato, fried rice and short stack pancakes. Potatoes - 2 pieces still crunchy, i.e. raw, some semi cooked, no flavor at all. JUNK Fried rice - how do you screw up fried rice? You do it by NOT frying the rice. IT WAS MUSHY!! It was like fresh cooked rice. It's like they just dumped in lots of shoyu, fried spam and green onions and pressed cook on a rice cooker. Please order from a Chinese restaurant to see how fried rice is really made...a Japanese ramen place even. JUNK. Denver Omelet. Pretty good, with lotsa filling. Except I ordered it take out so by the time I got it home, it was dried out and rubbery. Most likely not their error. The eggs themselves were not flavored. Pancakes - finally something good and fluffy. Perfect. Would I eat there again. Maybe only the pancakes. Service was fast.No wonder considering the raw potatoes. Other than the pancakes there was no flavor not even salt. I had to put catsup on everything and I'm not a heavy catsup user. Even my two dogs who are furry pigs, spit out the potato. They wouldn't eat it at all. That says everything.

Pros: - Cheap prices - Pretty good/decent food - Large portions that definitely fill you up - Quick service; we got our food in about 5 minutes! But the potato wedges were a little undercooked and hard... - Lots of choices to choose from! Cons: - Not many stalls in their parking lot - Paper plates for dine-in orders.. Just increased my carbon footprint -_- - If you dine-in and then ask for a take-out plate because you couldn't finish you food, they just give you a piece of foil... - No waiters/waitresses.. You go to the counter, order your food, and they bring it to you.. But you're on your own for the water. - Rude customers.. This isn't the restaurant's fault but I guess people are just super grumpy in the morning when they're tired and hungry. - The restaurant feels a little dated.. But Mebbe that's what they are going for? Favorites: - Koa Omelette: Egg, Portuguese sausage, spinach, mushrooms, cheese - Banana pancakes - Blueberry pancakes

Before I begin, this establishment should put their nutritional facts on My Fitness Pal for the IIFYM and people who monitor their intake Definitely a must go. The banana macadamia nut pancakes were UNREAL! The veggie egg white omelet was really enjoyable. The toast was super buttered, but I just wiped some off, and will ask for it on the side next time. I don't care for red velvet, so the pancakes were alright to me. They were so thick! I don't know that they are best paired with syrup, but hey, I ate them anyways . The egg white ham/mush/cheddar omelet was really good I was told by Beans, and he has lost mad weight since last year- and he didn't get fat eating gross food, so yeah his opinion is LEGIT. The coffee was okay, not as good as the rest, but that's not what they're known for. The vibe was like a fast food restaurant, but the food had local taste. That made me feel comfortable, not rushed and friendly.

Been stationed at SB for 4 yrs now and love this place im really going to miss it. Yes it gets very busy and the potatoes are not a good item to get but all in all very good food

  • Reuben W.

the food is alright, I'm sure it would be a lot better if they didn't serve it on cardboard plates. those plates just seems to dry out my eggs, pancakes and everything else on my plate. I think that if I ever go back there i'll bring my own plates from home, or just go to IHOP or Denny's with real plates so the food doesn't dry out before I get a chance to eat it.

  • Shala G.

I love the red velvet pancakes. Prices aren't bad for the amount of food that you get. I definitely can't ever finish my whole plate because there's so much food. I wish they were open later because I could eat heir pancakes any time of the day. Staff is always nice and food comes out quickly.

  • John S.

Place was always busy every time I have gone. Food is 7 out of 10. Service 9 out 10. One thing that I don't understand.... why are the pancakes so dry? If the pancakes weren't so dry I would give this place 5 stars. And yes plastic forks and knives that kept breaking. All and all I would keep eating there and come back more then once in the future.

It's been over a year since we last ate here and I decided to give it another shot. It's really close to where my husband works and he wanted us to come up during a bit of off time he had for brunch. I thought, ok, I've only been once. That could have been an off day or staff could have changed since I was last there...but really, I should have gone to one of the coffee shops or into Mililani. I ordered the eggs Benedict with potatoes. My husband got some buttermilk pancakes and my kids got the chocolate chip pancakes. The only pro to this meal was there were a LOT of chocolate chips in the pancakes which got the kids excited. My husband complained his pancakes had a metallic taste. He doesn't tend to complain like I do, so it must've been awful for him to say anything and then later throw them away without finishing them. My eggs were cooked through. So I returned them because I wanted runny eggs because otherwise what am I eating? Eggs Benedict = Runny eggs. Eggs overcook sometimes, not a big deal - but they acted surprised at my request like it was weird to want eggs Benedict with runny eggs. They replaced my eggs. But it did not save the meal since the ham was like leather and the hollandaise sauce was oily and looked like it had been sitting around for a couple of days. The potatoes had 0 seasoning. No salt, no pepper, nothing. Just plain potatoes. I couldn't eat it. We left without finishing our meals. This is rare for me because I don't like wasting food, but if I had tried to eat that greasy mess I'd have been sick for days.

I got the Mahi and eggs with mac nut pancakes. The Mahi Mahi was a little too fishy for me today, it kinda made my stomach turn. I had the mahi here before and it was ok. If I come back I will stick to breakfast meat! The links were good, can't really mess up sausage. The mac nut pancakes with coconut syrup were a perfect combo. Their pancakes are definitely yummy and fluffy! Omelets are not bad, but nothing you can't make at home.

I want to thank my Oahu Yelp friends for turning me on to this place! I love pancakes, and was very excited to try the Koa Pancake House as my last meal before leaving the Island last month. Having seen the size of the pancakes on Yelp, I opted for a short stack of banana cakes. They were delicious, but the portion was still so huge, I couldn't finish it. I highly recommend sharing. The staff here are very nice. The place is clean, but not fancy. The only downside were the disposable plates and utensils. I'm sure it saves them a lot of time when washing dishes, but I hate to see so much non-compostable waste going into the trash can.

We love this place. the food is awesome :-) The price...prettyyyy gooodddd :-) It's always busy. wish they would stay open longer and perhaps expand some day but then again...it used to be Dairy Queen so memories are always there :-).

  • Jessica B.

This place is like if Denny's got more casual and added spam to their menu. It's like the dive bar of breakfast joints. It's like cooking breakfast but way faster and easier. If you've never had spam for breakfast, I hiiiighly recommend it. So salty-good. Their service is fast and friendly (order at the counter and they bring it to your table). The juice is good and the place looks clean. I gotta say, I've had far better Spam fried rice, but for $4 this isn't that bad.

  • Liseann G.

Affordable and delicious breakfast. It's where locals eat, and military eat, and it's great. The service is pretty quick and usually friendly. Usually. I think the crepes and home fries are a little average but the waffles, bacon, eggs, omelets, pancakes, rice, and all is great. Seating is limited but I've never had an issue finding a seat. It can be crowded on occasion.

    (5)
  • H P.

Service is really poor, lacks much seating especially for how busy it is on weekends, food is so-so. There's better places for breakfast in Wahiawa.

3 1/2 STARS The parking is "One Way" so be careful to enter the right way. It can get tight. The servers at Koa Pancake House is always so nice when I visit. Shout out to LYNN who's been there a long time. I remember when she worked at Big Way Burger and Dairy Queen. Tons of selections and I personally like my 2 eggs, rice and meat. I once ordered the bacon and it was too hard... not crispy but more so like it was sitting in oil. Regardless, this is a breakfast restaurant that I will always return to. Very well kept and clean.

  • Shuao Li L.

Food is good and prices are great. Restaurant is always so cold tho. Floors and tables dirty. Watched the gal wiping the tables & flinging droppings from tables onto chairs & floor. She used same towel for all tables. Not washing or rinsing it or using a spray.

'Ed KOA pancake house! Had the red velvet pancakes, strawberry waffles, chocolate chip pancakes, and loco Moco. Everything was so good! Would recommend this place to all!

My son, & I ate the Mahi Mahi fish with fried eggs. With my combination, I chose Macademia Nut pancakes. My son chose Red Velvet pancakes.

I enjoy that they serve breakfast till 2pm! When you work nights it's nice to sleep in and still enjoy breakfast. Hit or miss with the service you get. I always order extra fried rice to eat leftovers.

  • Kehaulani B.

You get a lot for your money. Coffee and steak is always crap seriously every time I got coffee or anything with steak it was just terrible! Not their strongest point but everything else I've had here is great. BANANA pancakes is a must try! Okay, even on the busiest days when the line is outside, their service is extremely quick and worth the wait. Very friendly staff!

I love the bannana pancakes!!!! Bacon cheese burger is tatsty omelets are good i wish they were a bit more loaded tho...but they have great prices! People are very nice good service.. this is my breakfast spot.!

  • amanda m.

I ordered the red velvet waffle. I figured there would be more than one waffle. However when my plate was delivered there was definitely only one. So that was kind of sad. It was good, nothing spectacular. My husband has strawberry crepes and those were pretty good. I am gonna go back and try mac nut pancakes and see how that goes.

The red velvet pancakes are good and I really like the Denver omelet. This is a good take out breakfast place.

  • Matt G.

I've been coming here almost weekly for over a year now. I get the loco moco quite often with the hamburger & eggs over easy, but all their dishes are great. I come often enough that the older lady at the front always waves at me and tells the cooks to add extra gravy, just how I like it. Great food for a great price, & fast service.

Terrible greasy food. Crusty restaurant. All the food comes out of a can, just gross. Doesn't look good, doesn't taste good. Don't know how this place is still in business.

Ono grindz!! Service was great-;)) we ordered the kalbi & eggz plate and the loco moco iooooo!!!! Islander kine servings we couldn't finish it! A plus was seeing all the Soldierz rushing to get grindz before headin in to work. This place is military friendly and easy on the pocket-;)) mahaloz

I've been here so many times I lost count. It's the closest breakfast spot to me and easier to drive to when I'm having a lazy weekend hangover to get rid of. Recently though I don't mind taking the trek to Rise & Shine in Mililani. Everything that Koa is missing exist there. I suppose I can finally be satisfied with granting Koa 4 stars though for being there when I needed it most. Reasonably priced food, great customer service and good food.

This is the spot. One of my favorite places to go for breakfast. The list to order from is almost infinite. If you are craving something specific it is probably there. The cooks do a good job cooking your food to your order.

    (4)
  • Jenn F.

Faster than Zippy's & more affordable. Too bad not scratch-made or would give more stars (corned beef hash from the can).

  • Timothy P.

You know when people talk a place up then you go and ended up disappointed? Well that was this place for me. Parking was bad and had to park far down the street, I normally don't mind this if the food is worth it. When I walked in I was not greeted by smiles but by a line in which at the end the lady taking my order looked like she had rather been some where else. I waited a LONG time for my food which was pancakes, eggs, and bacon with hash browns. The eggs and bacon were cold and while the cakes were hot and big the taste was no good to me at all. Maybe I came on an off day but I overall did not like this place.

  • Kupono K.

Delicious breakfast! Way better than the pancakes at IHOP. They have a great, local style variety which is really pleasing to me. Everytime I go, my eyes are bigger than my stomach! Lol. The portions they give are very filling for such a cheap price! I order the banana pancakes everytime and it never fails! It's a great place for breakfast and is very affordable for anyone looking for a cheap yet delicious meal!

    (5)
  • Nikita W.

No matter how packed this place is....they always seem to get your food out to you QUICK and CORRECT! Great prices, as a military family, we eat there every Sunday!

    (5)
  • Kandice R.

My husband and I go to this place all the time! Super fast service and the food comes in pretty large portions. I normally get the French Toast which is 3 to 4 slices of sweet bread (so they're thick) and some potatoes ( which is a whole plate of potatoes)! Super affordable! I see a lot of families feeding them and their 3 or 4 kids which is a lot to say (since it's so expensive to feed families nowadays in restaurants)

  • Kimberly I.

We discovered this place a week before we moved. I am sad we didn't find it sooner. The portions are huge. They were very accommodating with our group. The food came out fast and was really good! Parking can be a challenge at times but it is worth the wait.

Ladies, wear a jacket because this place is always FREEZING! Koa Pancake house is a great place for a fast and inexpensive breakfast. Even though they are super busy every day you can still order your food and find a table quickly. The menu is pretty diverse and is not just pancackes.

  • Vance F.

First time at this location, actually I hadn't ate at a Koa Pancake House in years and I order the same thing every time - vinha d'alhos with eggs and rice with side of corned beef hash. It was good, really good! Could barely move after, especially after finishing my kids chocolate chip pancakes. The place was nice and clean, which important to me.

  • Michelle J.

Decided I wanted one of their huge burgers for lunch. When I got there they were rather busy. Placed the order and sit down and waited. The food came rather quickly. As I was eating I noticed something on the wall and at first I thought it was a gnat or something but upon closer review it was a water bug (roach) and then another and another. I was so turned off by this I could not finish my meal. I understand we live on an island where bugs are common but seeing that many and they were small ones tells me there is a bigger bug problem than I care to think about. This is the first time I have ever noticed anything like this at this place and I love this place it was my favorite place to go because the food is cheap and you get a lot for your money. But sadly this will be my last time there. Did I tell them when I left no there was way to many customers and I didn't want to make a scene and risk them hearing me should I have? Yes probably. So just beware that they do have a bug problem and if your ok with that then by all means go. The food is good and the service is nice.

I'm from Seattle and our hole in the wall breakfasts are AMAZING. So I'm tainted that way. The red velvet waffle had chocolate chips in it...was more like a dense chocolate cake, but somehow weird and dry. The flavoring was just off. My boyfriend said the omelette wasn't that good and he's pretty easy to please. Said the meat was either overlooked or precook we an cooked again. Overall- unimpressed

We have eaten at this location 4 or 5 times and we thought this was our new favorite local place. We were always pleased with the food and service but after today, we will not be going back. About 3/4 of the way through breakfast, our daughter yelled "There's a bug!" I look over and there was a baby cockroach crawling on the wall beside her. We started cleaning up and getting ready to head out, and noticed a larger cockroach crawling out from behind one of the picture frames on the same wall. About 30 seconds later, there's a cockroach crawling on our table, and as we were leaving, there was one crawling on the wall behind the counter.

I would say this place is just okay. We have ate here a few times. They have great fried rice. But their pancakes are so/so. I had their banana pancakes and my husband had their chocolate chip pancakes. I would rather just make my own. On another visit I had their strawberry and lemon creps. I was not impressed. I would rather just go to Ihop. But if your looking for a great breakfast place in Wahiawa I recommend Sunny Side.

Food is decent and reasonably priced but I found not one, not two, not three, but four! Four frick'in hairs in my food, did you take a shower in the kitchen?! Wear a hairnet!

  • Christa B.

Place is fast! I like that, especially for breakfast on a Sunday morning. I also like that they have a water cooler up front. It's the little things sometimes that impress me. Onto the food. .. what's funny is the buttermilk pancakes are terrible, but the blueberry pancakes are excellent! I'm thinking maybe they microwave the buttermilk and the specialty pancakes are made to order. The fried rice is really good too, but it would be nice if it had some veggies and eggs. Portuguese sausage is sweet and tasty. Place is cheap too, so it'll probably be a regular stop for us when heading up to north shore.

My first time at Koa Pancake House! Here's what we ordered (for 2 people): - Macadamia Nut Pancakes (short stack - 3): VERY GOOD! - Denver omelette w/cheese w/fried rice: 4/5...pretty good, but fairly normal tasting, was not super big like at some other brunch places - Steak omelette (it was a special that day): pretty good, but again fairly normal tasting and not as big as other places - Side of potatoes: Average - Small drink - Coffee We were stuffed when we finished, but then again we ordered 3 entrees. The food was pretty good, I'll be back for sure, but I think overall it was overpriced. Our breakfast cost $30+ before tip for just the two of us, which I think is pretty ridiculous. It's not even table service--you order and pay in the front and they bring you the food to your table. We left $4 in tip. So $17/person for breakfast--a little too much, I think. I think the omelettes should have at least been a little bigger. The price wouldn't have been so bad if it were a sit down restaurant.

Place sucks. Gross. The girl behind the counter was so unbelievably rude. Maybe if we could understand what she was saying it would be easier. Maybe try English? Anyways I'd never go back here it's gross.

My favorite breakfast spot near Schofield. Prices are great too and you get a lot. Service is so fast.

  • Cheryl T.

This review is just for their breakfast: Good food at a fair price. They have a wide selection of items from the local favorites of Portugese sausage, eggs your way and rice, or sub with fried rice with huge slices of ham in it. Omlettes from cheese, to chili cheese omlettes. Crepes, pancakes and waffles. This location gets super crowded, since I live in Mililani, I call in my order and ride shotgun, so I can run in and pay in the phone order line and just pick up my order :) The ladies that work this location are friendly and always have a smile on their faces. Nice touch to the morning rush.

The very best place to get breakfast good prices always great service all the yummy local dishes and they have red velvet

    (5)
  • Janel K.

I had the crepes. The strawberries were frozen and whole. I prefer them not frozen and sliced. The crepes were simply pancake batter thinned out and cooked to very brown. Not a true crepes by any stretch of the imagination. And the orange juice was the from concentration variety which is just gross. All in all, a disgusting in pleasant and memorable for all the wrong reasons experience.

We came here for breakfast several times in the past and like their good service. I like how they deliver your order to your table. After trying breakfast at several places on the island, I can now say that the food here is just ok. Today, my husband had the Vinh D'ahlos omelette and it was to die for! However, everything else was just "meh". I tried their Eggs Benedict and since i've had better elsewhere, i won't be ordering it again here. They have a nice variety of items on the menu that I could try in the future. The blueberry waffles and banana pancakes were "meh". Kind of like the generic brand box kind. I sure don't remember the pancakes being so unexciting :( Also, only regular syrup available! I was like, "Whaa? Isn't this a pancake house?" The red velvet waffles were not as expected, with a soft and fluffy cake-like texture. The corned beef hash was the kind that comes out of a can, and the bacon was rather soft... We still like the place though. I like cozy places like this for breakfast and the prices are good .Will probably stick to the egg/omelette dishes though.

  • Cassy W.

The best place for breakfast in Wahiawa! I usually order the corned beef hash. The macadamia nut waffle is to die for! I also recently had lunch there although you can still have breakfast until they close. I had a bacon cheeseburger and it was cheaper than a fast food meal! It was perfectly cooked to my liking and it was delicious! The only downside IMO is that they don't use actual plates and silverware for the dining area. Perhaps the kitchen is small, less water usage?

  • Krissy F.

This is an OK breakfast place! Not my favorite on the island! My favorite place to eat breakfast is Cinnamons Restaurant because they have some KILLER red velvet pancakes with cream cheese sauce but that's all the way on the other side of the island so my hubby and I stopped at Koa one day on the way to the North Shore! The pineapple juice is yummy! I've had their banana pancakes (they were ok), red velvet (they were ok nothing compared to Cinnamons red velvet pancakes), and buttermilk (they were the best I tried at koa). They also serve Portuguese sausage (yummy!!!!) and their bacon (crispy and yummy) and I have tried their home fries (not much flavor they are just ok). Honestly it's not the best or the worst breakfast I've ever had! It is reasonably priced however my husband and I ate for about 20$.

I love Koa Pancake House! I've never actually eaten inside of the restaurant. Strictly takeout for me. The prices are extremely reasonable in relation to portions. I always get a spinach, bacon, mushroom, and cheese omelette with a side of link sausage. :) The home fried potatoes aren't spectacular, but they're not bad either. They're just average. The breakfast selections are extensive, which is great for people like me who love all breakfast foods. I wish they were open all day! They do stay open until 2 PM, which I love since I tend to sleep in on the weekends. Most places only serve breakfast until 10 or 10:30--I'm barely rolling out of bed at that time! Only thing I wish they had was longanisa. The Filipino inside of me yearns for it!

I luhhhh this place!!! Ive actually never ate at Koa's until i met my husband, and then i was so mad at myself for not trying it sooner. Im almost never ever wake up early enough to eat breakfast, i rather sleep the extra 30mins. It so cheap for breakfast here, its almost ridiculous. For about $20 we get x2 bacon and eggs with whatever starch you want (pancakes are an option) side toast and 2 drinks. They give alot of food. The girls here are ALWAYS pleasent. Never recalled a negative experience with service or food. Parking can suck, theres about 10 stalls? And its freezing cold so bring a jacket.

Been here a couple times, tried every pancake on the menu. I mean that's what it's for right hence "pancake" being in the name. The pancakes are some of the best in the business (here's looking at you ihop) and I have had at least a million pancakes in my lifetime. I don't know 4 x 365 x 23 is what... well probably not a million but I don't like math. The seating was good. The service was not so great for me the cashier acted as if I was invisible for a good 10 mins while i was standing waiting to order on more than one occasion. The parking is an absolute nightmare. Car pool if possible as there are only about 9 parking spots. Back to the food though the bacon wan portuguese sausage was really good as well. Could use a better drink selection but all in all the food is great the venue though could use some work.

I've been to Koa about a thousand times and have always been satisfied. Today however, I was so pleased that I had to come a and write my first ever review for them. I ordered a lunch item today for the first time before they were serving lunch and the woman at the register said no big deal at all because they were slow anyways. I opened my plate up when I got home to find it absolutely FILLED. I expected a little BLT and some potatoes, but I got four double decker sandwiches that filled me up to the brim and still had a whole plate of the left over side potatoes I ordered. I just thought I would come and say thank you Koa for another amazing breakfast.

When I last visited Oahu, after retrieving my rental car (which I got through Hotwire because I am a cheapass and a car is a car), I drove straight to Koa Pancake House. Straight here. Not even fucking joking. When I was stationed at Schofield, I must have eaten here -- I really don't know: fifty/sixty times or something. Steak and eggs, Spam and eggs, Steak and Spam and eggs. Pancakes are on point as well. Sometimes you cannot secure parking for your car in the private lot; park on a side street instead. The next time I visit Oahu, after retrieving my rental car (from Hotwire because I am a cheapass and a car is a car), I will drive straight to Koa Pancake House. - E

Always friendly service. I love going to Koa for breakfast after a all-night shift. Today was my first time eating off the lunch menu. The mahi mahi plate was delicious but I'm a little disappointed by the portion size. Especially with the gigantic scoops of rice. Still, the mahi was great. Last couple of time I've eaten at Koa I was a little concerned as it looked like they hadn't dusted some of the decorations in a while. Today everything looked great. Probably my favorite breakfast joints.

I have never been to a fast food breakfast place but this place certainly has the breakfast down to a science. They offer omelettes, hawaiaan breakfast, crepes, waffles and of course pancakes. We ordered macadamia pancakes, ham/ cheese omelette, large guava juice, 2 strong coffees and the meal came out to a whopping $18..Uh score..The pancake was moist with lots of macadamia nuts, eggs were good, coffee was strong, guava juice was delicious..Overall it was a quick and easy meal. Definitely a must for breakfast!

Had a chance to eat breakfast with my boyfriend near his work area and he decided to take me to Koa Pancake House. At around 9a, there was a decent amount of seats and barely a line. The seats were a bit cramped together, made for very squished space to sit at especially since the guy sitting behind me was a big army guy. Ordered their Irish Bangers with scrambled eggs and the side of pancakes for about $7. The bf got their Denver omlette with rice and a orange juice. Totaled around $15. Pancakes were pretty good. I usually don't eat a lot of pancakes, but because portions were on the small side, I filled up on the flappers. The bangers were SMALL. Omlette was not bad. Portions were disappointing for the price. I would have like to either see the plates be a bit cheaper, or the portions a little larger. Otherwise, everything was pretty standard.

I had gone to eat at Koa Pancake House before, but not to eat breakfast. My fiancee and I decided to go to KPH this morning. I decided to get the corned beef hash plate with scrambled eggs and potatoes. He got an omelet special. My plate was pretty good and I was surprised at the amount of food that they gave. My entire plate was covered with food! I plan to get a pancake next time we go. :)

a hangover cure of the highest offering. huge amounts of hearty food....and omg coconut syrup for pancakes, waffles, white rice, paper towels, anything you can pour it on and devour. My review will be very short as I did not stay there long. This was my introduction to authentic "loco moco" which is hawaiian for happiness and sparkles on a plate. Its like eating every awesome birthday gift you have ever gotten in your life. I swear if doctors could prescribe happy....this is what they would give you. Loco Moco is rice topped with a hamburger patty, fried eggs, and brown gravy. I switched it up a bit and ordered the fried rice for extra zing. I ate with a smile on my face...for two days. Its a combination that just works. The portion was huge and just as big on taste. Did I say this is like eating your first kiss....butterflies and all? I was gonna say that it puts the same feeling in your heart as it would watching your first born come to thie earth...but thats just creepy :3 I could go on forever with euphamisms about how delicious this is, but you get the idea lol. My table also ordered pancakes and topped with coconut syrup. This alone could bring forth 30 more euphamisms but im gonna refrain myself. Its good stuff...kine grinds as they say. If you are on the north shore *eeeeeyyyyy* please eat here.

My first visit to this location was a positive one. Hungry for breakfast, I rolled in with two of my kids. We got good food, and great service, for a good price. We'll be back! I ordered two short-stack pancakes, and the cashier recommended saving some cash with a large and an extra plate instead. I ordered a large drink, and the cashier recommended a small with free refills instead. I ordered corned beef hash and eggs with home-fried potatoes, paid, and sat at a table. No more than 90 seconds later, the food arrived, piping hot and delicious. The pancakes were great, but they're hard to get wrong. I was especially impressed with the home-fried potatoes: skin on, cut extra thick, perfectly roasted. The place is small but well staffed. Employees are friendly and efficient, clearing and wiping tables before departing customers were out the door. This Koa Pancake House is counter service only, but that's a good thing. The food is not only good, it's served fast.

Such friendly service! Food came fast. The sour-cream and banana crepes were lovely, though a bit thick. The place is small and dated but the staff is on top of the cleaning. One of our favorite breakfast places.

The Koa Pancake House is always a good value. Today we ordered the buttermilk pancakes and the banana pancakes to go. The pancakes were okay. They were probably the instant ones that you only need to add water. Just by using Bisquick that would up the pancake taste category up astronomically, but I forgive them for that since their menu is pretty affordable to Hawaii's standard so I don't expect much. More reviews on them when I return!

The staff goes out of their way to make you feel like family. They are very friendly. Service is quick and the place is clean. Food is great, portion sizes are on point and prices are very affordable.

Locals eat here! This place was slightly hard to find (hidden amongst commercial building and mechanic shops) and parking sucked. With that said, it was sooooo freaking good! The whole trip I promised myself that I would be allowed to have pancakes with coconut syrup at least once, and this place really satisfied this craving. I had the buttermilk pancakes, and was happy to see that they came with not only coconut syrup, but pineapple and regular as well! I am a HUGE fan of all thing condiments, so I was having myself a syrup hay day! My boyfriend was also very happy to get his "spam" on with a spam and egg breakfast sandwich. We must have gained 10 pounds, but we were not hungry the rest of the day after stuffing ourselves at Koa.

Yum-O! Came here one stormy and wet morning to order breakfast take-out. Apparently everyone else and their moms thought the same thing because the line wrapped all the way around to the emergency exit! Despite the large amount of customers, the line moved fairly quickly and before we knew it, we were at the register and I had that panicky feeling I usually get when looking at a LARGE menu, restraining myself from ordering one of everything. We got: *blueberry waffles: the taste was good but unfortunately the texture of the waffles were soggy because they were sweating in the box on our way home. Fault of our own though, not the restaurant. I'm sure they're uber delicious when eaten there. *Sweet bread french toast: Extremely sweet and soft. Cooked very well. *Ham, Bacon, Onion Omelette with Potatoes: my favorite of all that we ordered. Made with 3 eggs, perfectly seasoned accompanied with huge potatoes. *Side of fried rice & pork hash: what's breakfast without pork hash right? This was very delicious and although these were just sides, they were still huge portions. In all we spent about $25. Wait time was quick. Service was standard. I'd be back again to satisfy that panicky feeling to order from the other half of the menu :)

Koa you never let us down. For our first breakfast back on the island, it had to be Koa. It was nice to see the same lady working there as 2 years ago, along with the same great menu. I always go for the Corned Beef Hash with eggs. It is a simple meal that is oh so delicious. I ordered it with the Blueberry pancakes so I could have breakfast for the next day too. The hash is always cooked to perfection with nice burnt/crispy edges. The hubby went with the Kalbi and Eggs. This was quite the generous portion, he couldn't even finish it all. Paired with 2 scoops of rice, this was quite the meal. You don't realize how much you miss things like Kalbi and rice until you live without it for awhile. We will definitely not be going without our Koa fix for very long anymore.

Good, wholesome, no-frills cooking at a cheap price. Plus they've got a pretty huge menu selections, mainly concentrating in the breakfast area. I had the chili cheese omelette with the pancake side, which was good all the way around. I recommend the crepe Suzette as well. Next time I'll have to try either the bangers or the fried rice loco moco. Highly recommended next time youre in Wahiawa town.

The only advice I can offer is: Don't eat here if you plan on going to work after! Many a morning I've almost fell asleep in my omelette, pancakes, potatoes, and spam. I won't say the place is hit or miss however, every once in a while something may be off, ex, potatoes undercooked. Even so, the place is a good breakfast that turns into lunch, cuz finishing your food in a timely manner just doesn't seem possible. Large portions, fair price, bright and the occasional crazy homeless lady gets Koa 4.3 stars.

  • Elle H.

Blueberry pancakes were delicious but the fried rice was awful. It seemed like rice flavored with soy sauce, with cut up pieces of ham and sliced green onion. Didn't seem seasoned or fried at all. What a waste.

Overall (7/10) food (8/10) service (8/10) cleanliness/atmosphere (6/10) I basically get Portuguese sausage eggs and rice. The pancakes are too much for me. I think it used to be better, but what can you do. I still like coming here for breakfast though, but it isn't someplace that you need to visit while in wahiawa. Would I come back? Maybe - yes (if im hungry in the morning and I am somehow in wahiawa)

I love KPH & miss it immensely!! This review is based on when I lived in Hawaii & frequented KPH on a regular basis. It was close & convenient to where I lived & was a great place to eat. The pancakes of course are awesome! Nice & big & fluffy. Gotta have the coconut syrup on them too!! The Loco Moco is one of my faves, along with the Portuguese Sausage & eggs!! Lol, now I gotta go down to Greenland or the Walgreen's on Ann & Rainbow, to get the Redondo's or Purity brand Portuguese Sausage. Also, the plate lunch specials are always on point. Overall, this location is always busy! So come early, cuz the parking situation is not very adequate & a lil tight (that's what she said!) :P Friendly staff & really fast in getting your order out. Pretty clean & tidy for the most part. This & the Waipahu locations are the only 2 I have been to & they are about the same quality. You need to grab the Ohana or your Hui & come on down & try these ONO Kine Grindz! Additional locations: Aiea Waipahu Kapolei Moanalua Hawaii Kai Kaimuki

  • Nathary R.

Omelets are the best thing here, but it isn't anything special, all their food something that can be made by anyone in their own kitchen. Their potatoes have no flavor and tasted old. Their pancakes taste like it came from a box mix, which you think is ironic because its a pancake house and you would think they cared more about what they put out. The service was terrible, the cashiers are not friendly and don't listen to you when you order, I usually don't complain about service because I understand we all have off days, and some customers aren't great to serve but the service here was ridiculous, luckily you don't have to converse with the people serving you long.

  • Jamie B.

I've only eaten here a few times and the pancakes were ok. Standard breakfast fare in my opinion, nothing really stood out. But I have to say the service was good even when it's packed and the place is pretty clean considering all the traffic.

Great breakfast. I usually have the #2 breakfast platter. Coffee's great and so is the service. Very military friendly. The parkin's kind of limited but I always seem to find parking. I would def reccomend it. Enjoy!

Trust the specials- get the omelette with the side of pancakes. The fried rice is really good too- its got little chunks of SPAM in it. I love the people, the pancakes- especially the macadamia nut ones, the atmosphere... its a winner. You order at the front counter, then sit down and they call your number. Its fast- even when its totally crowded- unless you order the steak and eggs, which only takes a couple minutes more but is worth it. You might have trouble finding a parking spot. Be patient, circle around a couple times, and you'll probably get lucky. Even when the line is going out the door, it moves quickly. The only thing I think that could improve a little is the coffee- its OK, but not in line with the quality of the food.

Had the buttermilk short stack and portugese sausage omelete with fried rice. The omelete and fried rice was delicious, but the pancakes were alright. Came in at 945am and place was not that full. Food service was real quick. I like this place a lot. Totes!

Good: The food was pretty good. They give you a lot of food for a relatively small price. Bad: Styrofoam cups and plates and the building looks shabby.

This place is decent, but a bit pricey for breakfast ($8 bucks for some eggs, bacon, and a side of toast?). Do not get their homefries an their lunch is ok.

  • Dani D.

Not bad. Been here about 5 times. Service is okay, food is okay, price is okay. It is quick and convenient.... So we'll continue to eat here. 1 time i got the eggs benedict... it was just okay... will not order it again. All the other times I got the "lite bite" comes with 1 egg, bacon or sausage, and 2 pancakes. perfect amount of food for me and it is less than $5.

O, SPONGEY CAKELIKE PAN*CAKES* you made me a fan at first sight and first bite. Pull up to the place and it probably looks closed because of the heavy tinted glass, but open the door and BAM you will see it packed packed packed full of people in the morning. Order at the counter and get your food on styrofoam. But it doesn't really matter because the pancakes are that good. I got the strawberry ones, which came with preserved, not fresh, strawberries, kind of like the ones at McDonald's. What sold it for me was the three mini-vats of whipped button (melon ball shaped), and the shavvering of whipped cream on my pancakes. It would have been a sweet overload but for the Denver Omlette with home potatoes, which was all right but nothing to fuss about. It was a crepelike layer of egg with the ingredients inside. Potatoes were good, but not wow-worthy. Worth getting again. Lemon Crepes were a pale shadow to the strawberry pancakes. Very hot, came in rolled form, 4 of them. Powdered sugar and lemon slices. Good, but again, wow nothing like the pancakes!!!! PS don't get the OJ it's just the Hawaiian Sun gallon jug version pumped straight into your cup--not fresh squeezed or anything. I will come back for pancakes!

Came to Koa pancake house after a friend recommended it. It's a very easygoing place. You place your order at the counter and they bring it out to your table pretty quickly. I ordered the Macadamia nut pancakes and my friend had Macadamia chocolate chip pancakes. They were light, fluffy and so delicious. The food is reasonably priced. So much better than the traditional pancake houses back in California where you wait two hours for a seat just to have breakfast on a Sunday. So glad I had the Macadamia pancakes, I would definitely come here again.

Love Koa, excellent breakfast food, wish the would extend the hours to 24/7 because I find myself craving Koa randomly throughout the week and they close at 2:30 pm daily. I recommend any omelette on the menu with a three chocolate chip pancake back for an extra buck. You will never be disappointed after eating and spending your money at Koa.

Quick service, great food and reasonably priced. We had to park across the street at First Hawaiian Bank but it was worth the walk. They give a lot of food so be creative on ordering because you can probably share.

Went here to get some breakfast and I saw they had a special breakfast platter for $8 that's with 2x eggs 2x Portuguese sausages 2x spams and a regular 3x pancakes. All of it tasted good. The line wasn't too long it was around 8:40am there was about 5 people in front of me and I just waited about 6 minutes and got my food to go in 5minutes. Overall this place is alright.

  • Al S.

I really liked the food, and the price was good as well. It's hard to find a decent breakfast around here, but they deliver. I liked the fast food format. Parking can be tricky, but it's good once you figure it out.

I have wanting to check this place out for a long time and was kinda disappointed. The food is fine, I especially like their chocolate chip pancakes since I have a wicked sweet tooth but they serve their food on paper plates and cups and the parking sucks. Plus the portion size for some of the dishes I feel is too Small for the price. I'm not saying its a bad place, I was just expecting more since they are always so busy. I'd rather go to Zippys.

  • Danielle Y.

This place was great! I was a little thrown off by the counter service, but it doesn't really matter (just keep it in mind). The pancakes were wonderful, the potatoes were simple and yummy (I really enjoy a little more pep to my breakfast potatoes, but these were quite good anyway), the grilled (grilled!) mahi mahi was moist (something often overcooked!), and my eggs were nicely done. It was reasonably priced to boot. I wouldn't make a special trip into Wahiawa for this location, but I will certainly be seeking out other, closer ones!

  • Lilian N.

Finally got a chance to try the pancakes! Yummos! I ordered the spinach omelette w/ 3 pancakes and ate so much that I put myself into a food coma. The pancakes were very light and fluffy, and had a hint of vanilla in the mix. I loaded it with butter and syrup and could not put my fork down to save my life! I never thought I would say this, but I think the pancakes are better than IHOP or TOPH....there's that something extra in the pancakes that make them super fluffy and tastier than the others. And the ladies are really friendly each time we visit this place. This is my favorite breakfast place in the area for sure!

My parents took me here a few years ago - it's a small breakfast/lunch spot that is only open from 6am-2pm every day. Bad place to go if you are trying to be healthy, but if you're gonna take the plunge - plunge here. They have super generous portions...so much so that I wasn't able to finish my $7 breakfast (two eggs, overeasy, Portuguese sausage, and a short stack of buttermilk pancakes). My sister opted for the Loco Moco, and our friend had bacon, eggs, and pancakes. All to the tune of less than $25 total!

  • Eric G.

I love this place. Eaten here numerous times and I haven't had a bad experience yet. I do disdain trying to find parking; I usually end up parking on the street somewhere. I love the spinach omelet. The pancakes are stellar. The staff is always friendly and food served very fast. It's usually pretty crowded, but when I do want Koa, I don't mind waiting. Bring a sweater because they keep the A/C on blast!

Made a quick pit stop here on our way to north shore. Solid breakfast. I very much enjoyed the portuguese sausages, eggs and pancake breakfast! Everything was delicious! I'd definitely eat here again and will recommend to friends who will be visiting HI this July.

I love this place! There is a ton of food for your money. I only order one plate and split ot with my son and still jabs leftovers to drop off to ky husband at work. No complaints. Very sweet staff too! The girls at the counter are beyond friendly and so are the cooks in the back. They always give u a friendly wave or nod. Try this place

Just had lunch there and it was my first time trying this place. I had the steak & eggs (which I do not recommend cause they burnt my steak badly!) and had banana pancakes. I enjoyed the pancakes cause it had real bananas in it but I wouldn't say it was the greatest.

  • George E.

Not sure what all the fuss is about. I had the loco moco and the gravy had a funky taste, very tomato-ey. Boy #1 had the blueberry pancakes and they were pretty good, but not worth the drive from Mauka to Wahiawa.

Really good pancakes and crepes for a good value. Breakfast for 4 including drinks was under $30. Right off the expressway and makes for an easy stop on the way to or from the Dole Plantation.

The breakfast is definately the best choice at the pancake house. I tried the Loco Moco (which had a strange ketchup gravy) and the Kalbi which was not bad for a pancake house. All the breakfast items are delicious and cheap. Going to try the steak plate today.

So today was mother's day and I took my mom here to get a quick bite to eat. As soon as we walked in the girl at the front taking orders treated as if we were just so bothersome because we were there to eat and she had to do her job. I attempted to ask her a couple questions but she completely and rudely interrupted me and took my 20 dollars out of my hand before I could even complete my order. Now the rude customer service was not the only problem I had today. My mom's food was brought out first while I waited for mine. Literally 10 mins went by before she brought out my food slammed it on the table and walked away. To my dismay it was cold. I was completely over dealing with the rude workers and now my shitty food that we just left. I work in the food industry and would never treat a customer how I was treated today. I have never had such a bad experience before and will never be back to the pancake house again and I hope that girl loses her job because in no way should you be such a rude human being to a stranger or any other person for that matter. I wish they wore name tags so I could blast this girl by name but oh well.

The food is okay, but the lady in the front managing the registers is an old grumpy lady that is pretty rude. Makes me want to run out every time I come in. I thought it was only a one time thing with her attitude. "Maybe she was having a bad day." But it's been every time I come in.
