Thank you Cafe Olive for being the best Italian Restaurant on this island and only a mile down the street from where I live! No complaints at all about this place. When you walk in, you feel as if you are in a small cafe in the heart of Italy. You totally forget that just a few blocks away is Chronictown. But it's okay my fellow yelpers! The Christian group Surfing the Nations has taking over the crummy part of the Wahiawa town strip next to Cafe Olive and has added a warm, safe environment. Back to the food. I really like the lump crab Alfredo, the shrimp Alla vodka, and the special that I can't remember what it's name was. But the best thing about this place is the spumoni ice cream cake. That dessert is the reason why I am giving this review a whopping 5-stars. last tip: join their wine club for $10 a year to avoid a $5 corkage fee. This place is the best place to try out different wine pairings without loosing an arm or a leg in the process.

This was the first restaurant we ate at once we arrived on island. I love how quaint the decor is. You feel right at home. The waiter we had was very polite and made great suggestions from the menu. Being new to the island, I was so glad we decided to stop in here on a whim. The food is fresh and delicious. If you're looking for a great date spot, this is it!

Found this traditional Italian restaurant in the middle of the island and loved it. Authentic options, flavors, and well sized portions. The seafood pasta dish with lemon and capers was loaded with scallops and shrimp. The desserts were yummy and the Spumoni was delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend. Great little Italian place in the middle of Oahu.

The ambiance was awesome, such a hidden gem! We ordered the lasagna and the shrimp and steak. The lasagna was good but towards the last 1/3 of it I found a hair. I couldn't finish it. The steak was cooked perfectly as asked but the shrimp was a bit chalky. The music and friendly staff make us want to give them another shot, different food next time.

Great little Italian place right in the heart of Wahiawa. Great service too! The specials are always good. I've never been let down here. I've been here for lunch and dinner.

Even without their liquor license (BYOW: bring your own wine) I love this place! Seven years going there... so far, & I'm still in love with their food. The ambiance is so mellow... live music on Thursdays and the nicest staff. All the flowers are real! Little details make this place inviting.

Looking for good Italian places in Wahiawa and Cafe Olive popped up with some good reviews. The decor was very simple, but the place as a whole was cute! Don't ask me how or why it was cute, it just was... ;) It was pretty empty and it took a few minutes to get seated. I thought that was odd until the waitress, who was very friendly and attentive, told us that we had just missed the huge rush. We quickly got our bread accompanied with some yummy garlic butter. I was a little sad when we were told there was no drink menu, it was only BYOB. Good if I knew beforehand, but I was jealous of the other tables that had brought their own wine! I ordered the Penne Arrabiata with chicken and my friend got the Broccoli Fettucine Alfredo. The presentation of the dish was nice and my meal tasted pretty good with just enough spice. I'm not going to hype it up and say it was super delicious, but it was good and I would go back when I'm in Wahiawa. They also offer live music which added to the "cute" atmosphere. It did make it a little hard to hear across the table though. The last song before we left was a cover for Semisonic's "Closing Time." Awesome song that ended the whole experience on a good note!

Monthaversarie dinner w my love! Good food, great service! Great dessert, loved the in house made garlic butter and Spinoni dessert. The presentation and playing of the food was amazing and the flavor was even better. Can't wait to go back!

Best Italian on the island! The Kimchi Pasta is amazing, great food, service, and the best atmosphere! Definitely beats Honolulu traffic for a romantic date night that's just down the street. Not mention, very affordable!

Great find!! Teenager friendly and the food was great!! Kim Chee Pasta was awesome!! I was a little disappointed that they don't serve wine! However the very polite waiter told us we could walk over to Walgreens grab a bottle and only pay a $5 cork fee!!

Had lunch $3.95 for Italian sausage or meatball and it was Ono! The restaurant is clean and the waiters are very friendly and courteous. I heard on Tues, Fri and Sunday nights they have a musician who plays great music. I will return just to eat.

Such a cute cafe!!! Located in Wahiawa next to the Surfer's Coffee Bar. I have always wanted to try this place... and because Groupon offered a voucher, I figured it wouldn't hurt to try and get $10 for free! We decided to go for dinner. Parking is available along the side of the restaurant or out in back. We had no problems finding parking. I LOOOOOOVE the inside of the restaurant. It's very cute once you walk in... you feel so welcomed! There are several tables inside and knick knacks along the walls... the night that we went (Thursday) there was a gentleman with a guitar singing... he stated he doesn't get paid and works off of tips... he sang really well! The staff is small, just a few people running the entire front of the house. Everyone was very friendly! We decided to get the 'complete meal' for an additional $8. It includes a soup or salad, a beverage, and a dessert. We each paid an additional $1 to get a caesar salad instead. The dressing was okay. It had a lot of lemon in it. The lettuce was crispy and fresh. yelp.com/user_local_phot… We also got an appetizer: fried mozzerella sticks. The appetizer didn't arrive quickly, but you know when you bite into a mozzerella stick and you want the ooey gooey cheese to stretch?... well, that didn't happen. It didn't taste fresh... but it's our fault because we didn't send it back. Oh well... yelp.com/user_local_phot… For entrees, I chose the snow crab alfredo. It comes with 'lump' snow crab meat, snow peas, alfredo sauce, and linguine. It was okay. I didn't find any 'lump' crab meat, but there was a decent amount of snow crab in the dish. The sauce was... okay. I know I know, I use the word 'okay' a lot, but that's the first thought that came into my mind. It wasn't "OMG YUM" like Assagio's... and it wasn't gross, it was just okay. yelp.com/user_local_phot… My BF got the chicken marsala with steamed veggies. He enjoyed his dish! We were told it was one of the more popular menu items. The steamed veggies were just that... and the chicken was hot, fresh, crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside. The sauce was very rich and delicious. yelp.com/user_local_phot… For dessert, I chose a slice of cheesecake, and my BF chose the spumoni. The cheesecake was average... it reminded me of cheesecake that Costco sells from the Cheesecake Factory. The spumoni though was DELICIOUS!!! Probably THE BEST spumoni I've ever had!!! All in all, I love the ambiance of the restaurant. The staff is friendly and efficient. The presentation of the food is on point. The portions are very generous! Value is comparable to other restaurants. Taste... well, it depends on your taste buds and what you like. I'm sure there's something for everyone at this place. Definitely recommended... and we'll be back to try other items!

This is a cute little restaurant on the inside. My husband and I went on a Friday night and there was live music. A great atmosphere. This was our first visit and we are very impressed. There will be more visits to follow. I had the creamy pesto fettuccine with shrimp. This dish was to die for. So so good. My hubby had the lasagna also very good. We also ordered dessert. My hubby had the cheese cake it was very good and I had the tiramisu...probably the best tiramisu I have ever had. A must visit!

Being a townie, I really don't like going anywhere in Wahiawa. I live in Mililani now, and the selection of restaurants is quite disappointing. We've passed by this place a few times, but never went inside to try. My boyfriend and I decided to try it out for a date night. Walking through the doors was like stepping out of Wahiawa into another world. It's actually pretty clean inside, and the lighting was just right--not too dark and not too bright. The atmosphere was great--very cafe-esque with live music (he was pretty good). Our waiter was very friendly, but surprisingly not over friendly...he chatted it up with us but didn't carry it on longer than a waiter should. He had great recommendations. My boyfriend got the Fettuccine Marbella (chef's special), and he went with the complete meal - salad, soda, and spumoni for dessert. I got the Creamy Pesto with Shrimp (chef's special). I also went with the complete meal, with minestrone, soda, and tiramisu for dessert. All of the food was absolutely amazing! I normally don't like pesto and creamy pastas are often too heavy for me to eat a lot of--but my creamy pesto was just the right amount of pesto and not too heavy. The minestrone was very good as well--lots of veggies and meat, no beans (I hate beans). The tiramisu and spumoni were fantastic. Best tiramisu I've ever had. I was amazed that our two three course meals came out to only $52! After tipping the waiter and the musician, it still only came out to about $70! I think it was an awesome deal. The atmosphere was great, there was no wait, live music was great, waiter was friendly, food was amazing. It's BYOB so next time we'll bring some wine ($5 corkage fee). We will definitely be back ASAP!

Very cute Italian cafe in Wahiawa. Had the creamy pesto special was very tasty, even my two year old liked it. Mozzarella cheese sticks were good and the marinara was a little sweet like how I like it. Service was friendly and quick, more so since it was a late lunch. However, we did get lost trying to find this place but was worth it.

Yet another place to eat in Wahiawa... I seriously think my bf's family should consider moving to Wahiawa instead of Mililani, because food options are so much better. Cafe Olive is located right off of Kam hwy. If you are coming from Mililani area you will need to turn around because its a no left turn into the driveway (I think, or you'll just be causing traffic... so just make a u-turn). I've tried the frutti di mari ($14.95). and I've also had the puttanesca with chicken ($12.95) Both are pretty decent. I liked the puttanesca better than the frutti di mari probably because I like it spicy. They don't have an extensive menu, so if your looking for a carbonara or a pesto dish they wont have it here. A good place to stop in and grab lunch, but I wouldn't say its a favorite and I wouldn't make a drive all the way out to Wahiawa for it. Overall a good place to eat. BYOB

I love Cafe Olive! Never would you think that a small cafe/restaurant tucked away in Wahiawa could house such a wonderful experience. Don't get me wrong, the area can be sketchy looking and there are the occasion chronic passing by...but don't let that deter you. The owner is a nice woman who seems to take pride in her restaurant. The menu consist of an Italian/Korean blend. Italian/Korean blend? Yes you read right. I believe the owner to be Korean as she had explained how she came up with some of the dishes. One of her favorite dishes is the Kim Chee pasta. I remember when I first saw it, I thought to myself "What the heck? That can't be right!" and passed on ordering it for some time. I stuck to my usual dishes of arrabiata (which is a delight) as well as their house special. The name escapes me but it can be found under the specials. The waitress could tell you...it is a red-sauced pasta dish with four types of meat in it...I love it :) However, one day I decided to be adventurous and order the Kim Chee pasta...let me tell you, it has now become my new favorite dish. The Kim Chee is wonderful and the bacon/pancetta gives it just enough flavor. I love to end my meal with their spumoni. It's not your typical spumoni dessert, but rather a spumoni ice cream cake with an oreo-like crust. I love it! :) If you're lucky, I believe on the weekend, they have a live musician who plays guitar to accompany your dinner. If you're in Wahiawa, check out Cafe Olive.

I admire, enjoy, relish, and bask in the atmosphere of Cafe Olive. Quaint, personable, yet accommodating for those small to medium parties, this spot is perfect for your weeknight get-together. Cheap cork fee and BYOB make for a guarantee that your evening ends on the right foot with delicious pastas and epic desserts. Tiramisu so soft it melts your heart like a love song, hearty portions and plates like the four-meat pasta (it's a lot of goodness). The local flair is accented by paintings by local artists and even hosts guitar and vocal performers throughout the evening hours. Be courteous and tip if you enjoy a romantic touch and your date may thank you for your kind heart and sense of food style. The bread is sourdough and strong, great for dipping in your pre-meal Olive oil. They also have a great takeout option for those forgetting it was your turn to cook tonight! Military or nurse on night shift and running late? Call ahead and give them time to make perfection and an excuse to your boss. This is a palette of pasta which has painted smiles on many faces. What are you waiting for?

It's looks like one of those places you could drive pass by all the time without thinking about going in but it would be a huge mistake! The service, food, live music and the atmosphere. I love everything about this little spot. It is byob though which was a bummer because I didn't bring any wine :(

This place doesn't look like much on the outside and isn't in the nicest of places. That being said, once you're inside this place things change all around. I've heard live music here that is a delight to listen to during your meal. The prices are befitting of proper italian meals. It's simple, delicious italian fare that isn't served at an inflated price. Exactly as it should be. Particular delights are the shrimp a la vodka, broccoli fettucini alfredo, caprese and bruscetta. If you don't mind spending an evening in Wahiawa, this is a surprising little treat for dinner.

The atmosphere was promising and the musician was delightful. However, the chef's performance killed the meal for us and the service was amateur. We found a pomegranate seed at the bottom of the wine glass for starters, that was pretty gross. The appetizers were decent, but it's hard to mess up bruschetta with tomatoes and feta. I'd recommend the fire-garlic shrimp if you're stuck in this eatery against your will. The entrees were disgusting and not restaurant-quality. The chicken marsala was served with an unseasoned vegetable medley you'd make at home in the microwave in one of those frozen steam bags. The marsala sauce was brown gravy from a packet.. at least the mushrooms tasted fresh. The chicken was heavily breaded and difficult to taste because the gravy was all over everything. The penne arrabiata with chicken was barely a step above Chef Boyardee. The tomatoes were out of a can and the pasta was overcooked. At least the basil leaf garnish was fresh. The kitchen wasn't visible. We are left to assume it consisted only of a microwave and canned goods. Save your money and pick up some spaghettios. The price range at Cafe Olive is comparable to Assaggio's, but only one serves italian food.

We were looking forward to trying Cafe Olive because of all the great reviews. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. My husband and I tried going here for dinner one evening. We got there at 6pm on a Saturday and were surprised to find the place completely empty. As in we were the only people in the restaurant other than the staff. The decor, although a little dusty, is cute and inviting. Nicer than I was expecting from the outside. Right before we left they started playing live music. Nice atmosphere. I'll give them a star for that. Service was great. Our waiter was very attentive, knew the menu, had suggestions. I didn't expect much from someone who looked like he could still be in high school but he did a great job. He gets a star himself. And, that's where the stars stopped. Dinner was just bad. My pasta was obviously from a box. Wasn't cooked properly so all the noodles stuck together in a giant clump on the plate. (All they would have needed to do was stir it occasionally while cooking.) The olive garlic sauce was really just flavorless olive oil. I recognized the vegetables from the Costco Normandy style vegetable blend that I buy myself. Not that it's bad for a restaurant to shop at Costco. But, when I go to a restaurant, I want something I can't make at home with minimal effort in 5 minutes. But, that's exactly what I got. In fact I could make that better at home in 5 minutes with minimal effort which leads me to believe they just weren't trying. My husband's dinner was slightly better. But, not much. His seafood pasta actually only had 2 or 3 pieces of actual seafood in it. For the price we paid, I expected it to be overflowing with seafood. But, it wasn't. Just another disappointment. Bottom line, we won't be returning.

BYOB! How cool that you can bring your own wine, etc. without a fee. The food was amazing- specifically the Chicken Pesto Creamy Alfredo. Service was excellent and the place itself is cute and lovely. We were honeymooners just passing through and it was excellent! Totally reasonable as well and portions large enough for sharing!

The husband and I decided to try this place on the recommendation of a few friends. So on one of our rare "date nights" we headed down the road to Cafe Olive. You don't know what the expect just from looking at the exterior, but we'd heard good things so were willing to give it a try. We walked in and I was surprised by the ambiance. Soft lighting, live music, and more spacious than what I'd imagined. The waitresses were friendly and we were greeted with smiles. It took us a while to look over the menu since it was our first time there. I finally settled on spaghetti aglio olio with shrimp and the husband had shrimp scampi. I loved my dish and finished every bite! The husband even dared to say that he loved his garlicky shrimp better than Giovanni's. I topped off dinner with a raspberry cheesecake, which was pretty decent. Husband and I will most definitely be back!

When we first moved here, I was a huge fan of this place. The owners are really sweet people, but I have to say the food and service have really declined over the last year. My husband and I went here for dinner last night. The mozzarella sticks were good as usual. I was so excited to get their lasagna. I've always been a huge fan. Unfortunately, there was a LONG, black hair across my plate and into the lasagna. I noticed it as soon as I got it. The owner apologized repeatedly, but it pretty much ruined my appetite. He insisted on getting me another one and that it would be quick, so I relented. When the 2nd lasagna plate got there, it was just more watered down and less think that I was used to. With my appetite pretty much ruined, I managed a few bites but hardly ate any. While we were there, the waitress confused our drinks and mixed their fruit tea with the pepsi. (Blah...) Honestly, I know accidents happen and I'm usually very forgiving. I wouldn't have been as disappointed with the whole experience if it ended there. However, on top of everything else, we were charged for the hairy lasagna that I hardly touched!! I couldn't believe it. The owner was the one who insisted on another lasagna, but yet he charged us for it!!! Absolutely ridiculous!!!!!!!! To his credit, he did pack us a Tiramisu to go. Unfortunately, nor me or my husband like it!! We would've much rather preferred to not be charged for an order of lasagna with hair in it! I'm so sad to see this restaurant decline in food quality and service, but I think it's time to throw in the towel. We definitely will not be back.

My husband and I were greeted by an adorable, super friendly waitress, who allowed us to choose any seat in the empty restaurant. (Monday, 5pm) We were immediately given waters and fresh bread with their special home-made pesto butter. I went through 3 baskets of this amazing bread and butter!! Going here is worth it for the butter!!! Dinner was fantastic, and their Kim-chee pasta was as amazing as everyone says it is. Crab chowder was great as well. For $8, you can make any entree a complete meal. This includes a drink, soup/salad, entree, and dessert. Very good value. Will definitely be going back!

My new favorite place for date night! It's a nice quaint location which wasn't too busy when we were there Saturday night. From the moment we walked in, the service was great. Our waiter Remii, was extremely nice and attentive. Drinks came right away and were refilled promptly when needed. We ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer, and although it was different from any bruschetta I've ever had, it was good and refreshing! For entrees, I got the spinach and cheese ravioli. I was impressed that I could actually taste the spinach. The marinara sauce was good, but maybe a little spicy? It also tasted sort of like jarred sauce with some canned tomatoes mixed in, but after living in a hotel for 2 weeks, I didn't mind at all. The kids had spaghetti and meatballs. I tried some. Pretty good. We skipped dessert because we were stuffed from the meal. Prices were decent, and the dinner portioned yielded enough leftovers for lunch. The one thing that I really didn't like about the restaurant was the parking situation. The first time, we turned into the wrong lot, so had to go around the block. The small lot in front of the restaurant only has a few spots, so parking may be tough if there are a lot of patrons. Throughout dinner I was worried that our car would be broken into since the lot is kind of like a sketchy alley. It was really dark out and there were a bunch of people in dark hoodies walking back and forth through the lot. As we walked to our car after dinner, there were a whole bunch of suspicious looking people huddle up in front of a suite that unoccupied. Normally, sketch people don't bother me, but the whole situation seemed weird with them walking back and forth through the lot and then just standing around not too far from our car.

Doesn't look like much from the outside, but we were very impressed once we sat down. There was live music that was enjoyable without being overwhelming, and the wait staff was great. But all of that paled in comparison to the food. We got the appetizer special of day (firerock garlic shrimp), my husband ordered one of the chef specials (fruitti de mare), and I got one of the regular menu items (penne arrabiata). We loved every bite. This was by far some of the best Italian food I've had, and we would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

This Italian joint is tucked in Wahiawa, you will see big red letters "CAFE OLIVE" when reaching the restaurant. Parking available next to restaurant which looked like a one way in parking lots with 5-8 stalls? We parked between Walgreens and Teddy's Burger and walked for a few minutes to the restaurant. Ordered kim chee pasta (with bacon) it was prepared well, didn't taste like a korean (kook soo) nor heavy Italian flavors (cheese and herbs). Also ordered the Eggplant Parmesean with Whole wheat spaghetti noodles ($1 to sub whole wheat). Free bread appetizer with a unique butter to go with starch. Lights are dim, candles lit at each table and nice place to take a date to. There was live music, a man playing his acoustic guitar and singing.

Working in Wahiawa weekly has been fun as far as food is concerned. There are quite a few spots in Wahiawa to choose from...even when I was staying with my favorite foodie friend in Mililani, it's only been now that I've been able to really check things out. Olive Cafe is a cute little Italian cafe that resembles more of a French Bistro. The decor is rather cute and quaint. Nice touch for Wahiawa :) For lunch crowd, it seemed to be filled with folks from the Mililani Tech Park or the Military. I can see why they would want to make this a local lunch stop...The food is pretty darn good! I opted for the lunch special: Half Lasagne and Salad combo with a Mango Iced Tea...Thought that the serving size was perfect ! The food tasted far better than I had expected, honestly. since I rate all Italian here on the Island based on my dislike for Assagio's, I gotta give this dish a 4/5 stars. The flavor was a bit sweeter than I would prefer but the flavors were very rustic and rich. The Salad dressing was a bit more vinaigrette than Caesar, but it was still rather well seasoned. My friend opted for the Spaghetti Bolognese and he said that he really enjoyed it. I did notice that he was picking out the gargantuan sized pieces of onion that filled his dish. Maybe in the future, they will think to make the onion cuts just a bit smaller so that they will cook into the sauce better. Over all, I plan to come back for lunch again...there are a few daily specials that sounded interesting to me. Might have to check them out at least once, right?

Ambiance was extremely cute and quaint though getting take-out was a neutralizer that tested the merits of just the food. The chicken anchovies olio was tasteless and bland. The pasta arrabiatta with vegetables was marginal. The tossed salad was romaine with a piece of tomato. Save your money and your time and go to Assagio's. Assagio's is substantially better.

We read lots of reviews and my friend had come here for lunch so we decided to try dinner. Our server was awesome! great service. This place is really cute ! Love the red & white checkered tablecloths. There was a guy playing guitar who was pretty good ( although would have been better if the music was a little softer) . We ordered the calamari ( deelish!) and the Penne arrabiata and shrimp & scallop, asparagus limone fettuccine for our entrees. The pennearrabiata was really good, nice and spicy if you ask for extra spicy. The shrimp, scallop & asparagus limone fettuccine was good, but the scallops looked old so I only ate the shrimp. The yummy cheesecake topped off a good dinner and great ambiance. We will be back because I definitely want to try their lasagna !

Overall, my experience at Cafe Olive was very average. Me and my wife were looking for good Italian on the island and we will probably continue our search at other locations. We were looking forward to the BYO policy with "free corkage" that was explicitly mentioned on their website, and we got there and were told there is a 5 dollar corkage fee. We were also rushed through our meal (bread, appetizer, and entree in less than 45 minutes). The waitress was not very friendly as well. The food was good, but it wasn't enough to make up for the sub par experience.

Fabulously tasty and unique Italian food. Love the spice of the kimchee pasta, the lobster fettuccini is tasty and has lots of fresh lobster, and the spumoni dessert is a must. If you want something light, have the pasta aglio with clams. Friendly servers and owners with a nice quite atmosphere. Could do without the live entertainment though because they're not the greatest.

Once again, Yelp doesn't disappoint. We needed to stop to eat and since it was the highest rated place in the area, we went to an Italian restaurant in Hawaii! But the service was fantastic, the food delicious. Became a highlight of our trip!

This is what I'd like to call a "hidden gem". It doesn't look necessarily beautiful on the outside, but you walk in and it is amazing. The service is top notch. I love the romantic feel, BYO wine, music and the owners and really great people. I love supporting businesses that care about bettering a community! Prices are great and food is delicious and you get enough food to feed a miniature army.

I really enjoy Cafe Olive. We have ordered take out from them several times. My husband usually picks up our order and always remarks to me that we need to take the time to sit in the restaurant one day. Well today we went to the restaurant and had dinner. Parking was no problem and it is located on the side of the restaurant. When we entered the restaurant it was pretty busy. There was a birthday party going on and several other full tables. We were greeted by a friendly server named Jordan. He was very nice and informative. He told us about the chef specials which we ended up ordering. We had the meat combo pasta dish. It had meatballs, chicken, Italian sausage and pancetta (bacon) over pasta. You could either have the spicy marinara or the regular marinara. I had the regular marinara and my husband had the spicy. They were both fantastic! We read the menu online prior to coming so we knew that we could BYOB. We brought with us a nice bottle of Moscato wine. The server told us there was a corking fee of $5.00, it was small price to pay to have wine with our food. We had a choice of doing the complete meal for an additional price. The complete meal includes a drink, salad and dessert. Trust me you will want to try the tiramisu for dessert. If you are too full to eat a dessert, take it to go. It is probably one of the best tiramisu's I have ever eaten. On Wednesday, Friday and Saturday's they have live music. The musician was really good! He played songs true to form. The restaurant was getting ready to close and the musician decided to play one last song. So my husband and I decided to dance the last song. It was a slow song; it was a nice way to finish our evening.

Meh. It was ok. Portion size was huge. Food kind of greasy and salty. I ordered a chicken pesto pasta that was too salty to finish. The bread and garlic butter spread they give you was really good. Service was good. I'd probably not eat here again...but then again, I'm pretty picky.

This is a normal restaurant for us and we love the atmosphere and the food is excellent. I usually order the lasagna or the chicken marsala. The lasagna comes in large portions and it is full of flavor with 3 types of meats. The chicken marsala has an asian flair and is served with a balsamic sauce. Tonight was a different choice as there was a special from valentines day, the owner made her homemade short ribs. As we had just ate at Alan Wong's the weekend before I had to compare them. Alan Wongs was served with a ko choo jung sauce and the meat was melt in your mouth tender, it was to die for. After conversing with the owner of Cafe Olive she said her short ribs were better than Alan Wong's. I ordered the ribs and when they arrived it was a hearty portion of two ribs that fell right off the bone using chopsticks. Her ribs were also served with a ko choo jung sauce and the meat was even more tender than at Alan Wongs. It was definitely a better dish served on a bed of garlic mashed potatoes and 4 asparagus. The sauce is what really sealed the deal as it wasnt too sweet like at Alan Wong's. Best experience I ever had at Cafe Olive would recommend to everyone!!!

We've been here a few times and, although its well executed Italian food, its just not GREAT Italian food. The menu tries too hard to delivered unique choices and sometimes bypasses classic dishes, forcing you to choose something you're not quite comfortable with. Now all of this would be fine except that the prices are on par with restaurants that provide GREAT Italian food and classic dishes along with the creative ones. Its certainly fun for a date or something different but there are better bangs for you buck out there.

Everything was fresh, the service was 100%, and it was a real restaurant with a real chef rather than just another business as seen by a special garlic olive oil fried small grated parmesan topping they put on the salad.

This is a definite gem in Wahiawa. I am in love with this restaurant!! Aside from the fact that they had LISTERINE bathroom for you to rinse your garlic filled mouth with, which is GENIUS, the food IS AMAZING!! I had a voucher from Hotdealshawaii.com and since I live on the west side, I thought it would be a good opportunity to try this place. The restaurant is a small cozy little place with an amazing atmosphere. My boyfriend had the Shrimp, Scallops, and Asparagus plate and I had Chicken Parmesan. He loved his dish, and I loved mine. It was cooked to perfection. And let me tell you, their house bread and spread is TO DIE FOR! OMG and so is there SPUMONI with oreo crust! YUM!!!!!!!! I'm getting hungry just writing this review. The only down side to this place is parking. They share a tiny little parking area with Quiznos and a massage place, and it's about 10 stalls. So you'll have to find parking elsewhere. But other than that, I WOULD DEFINITELY recommend this place!

All I can say is...the only reason I even gave 1 star is because the staff was nice. The food was bad...really bad. I got the Crab Alfredo which tasted like salty cream of tuna...I prefer my alfredo a cream color not a dull light brown...my fault though I should have never eaten it after I saw what was being given to me. And trust me I'm suffering for it now. As for next time I need an Italian fix I'll stick with assaggio's.

Calimari way too salty. My date sent back her chicken marsalla as it was covered in unrecognizable gravy. Because I was famished, I ate my chicken parm. Vomited through the night, no sleep. Awful.

I live in walking distance, I love their food, and I love their atmoshpere. I'm a big fan. You have to get the crab alfredo!! REAL crab, who knew?

We have been to Cafe Olive before, but on this particular night we wanted to take out. We called and made a phone order and they refused to take our order without providing a credit card number. We told them we were going to pay cash and they still wouldn't let us place a phone order. This isn't pizza hut. Obviously they don't have faith in their customers placing phone orders. After this, we will no longer be supporting cafe olive.

My husband and I recently tried Cafe Olive for the first time the other night. We were pleasantly surprised!! The food was wonderful and the ambiance was beautiful; very old world Italian complete with red checked tablecloths. My husband got the 4 meat pasta and I got the pasta with marinara sauce. Both had incredible flavor and the garlic bread was great too. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant if you are in area; you will not be disappointed. The neighborhood looks a little rough but don't let that deter you; when you walk into Cafe Olive, it's like you're walking into a different world...Italy all over :)

Ate lunch with a group of 15-20 and they did forgot one order. I'm not a food expert or critic but I say everything I had tasted ok, not amazing, but ok. And the servings were big enough most of us couldn't finish our plates. Service was appropriately paced and very friendly, and it seems that they're trying hard to be a more upscale restaurant but theyre just lackin something. All in all I'd say they're a 3-star restaurant trying to be a 4-star, and I'd wouldn't mind goin back again.

This is the 1st restaurant where I really enjoy the Chicken Parmesan. A must try. Everytime we go there everyone is always pleased with their selections. The wait staff is attentive & helpful. The owner is there greeting everyone and making you feel right at home. If you're ever in Wahiawa and wanna try something different stop by the Olive Cafe!

Ok, I've eaten here a handful of times and always had good service and good food. I have to thank my friend Susan as she told me about this place and it is a winner. When one thinks of Wahiawa, there is really no high expectations as it's the country side and most think about laid back people but over here it is just the opposite. The two waitresses that I have seen, one named Nani is very good, friendly and very accommodating. In fact some places in Honolulu should take some notes on how to be a good server as these two girls are really good. Another thing, their place is very clean. The bathroom is nice tidy, besides the hand soap and papertowel, there is mouthwash to help calm down the fresh garlic, hand lotion as you want to have soft hands to touch the one you're with. ;) On to the food. I'm into fish and even though the waitress said it's not their specialty, it was delicious! The fettuccine alfredo with chicken and broccoli was great! I had the lunch special which was half lasagna and salad and it was pretty filling. They do not serve alcohol here, but you can bring your own wine for a small $5 corkage fee per bottle. One thing that I didn't care for is the limited parking space. When I'm in that area I will be back for sure.

First of all - great service. Both girls were very pleasant & informative on the menu. One tip to pass on to them though - when you pour the water in the cup, don't let the pitcher touch the cup; otherwise you might pass on other people's germs from their cup to the next person's cup; includes pouring the coffee too. Now on to the food; used an online daily deal coupon for $10 off. I ordered one of their specials, (pasta marabella?) - pasta with three types of meat - chicken, meatballs, & sausage with marinara...very strong flavor, but good. My wife had the marsala chicken, that was light on flavor, but the chicken was easy to cut with a fork. She doesn't like strong flavor, so it was good for her, but to me, there wasn't enough flavor in the marsala sauce. The salad was fresh & the dressing used was very good. We also liked the fresh warm bread they gave with the garlic butter. The $8 extra you pay for a complete meal that included a drink, salad or soup & dessert was a good deal. We shared the tiramisu for dessert, as I was the only one that made it a complete meal. That was good way to end the meal. Overall a good meal & left with a good feeling. I would go back again. :)

Food was good. Expected at least a salad to come with the meal, but it did not. Salad and soda adder to meal was an extra $8.00. Dessert: weak. $4.95 for a scoop vanilla ice cream and some strawberry syrup drizzle is was steep. we should have went to McDonald's across the street for a sundae. Not worth the drive from Turtle bay resort to get there.

We really love this place:) It's really nice to have a sit down restaurant in our town to have a decent meal. We've never had a bad meal and the service is always great. Live music several nights a week and it's really mellow and great. Acoustic guitar and mellow tunes- either Nick T. or another gent- both are very good! :) Food is tasty and reasonable. You can't go wrong. You can bring your own wine and they will serve it for you- no corkage fee:) We really love this place. Parking is a challenge but we usually go early so we always get a space. We've sent friends here and they've also had a nice time and a good meal. Try it- it's great:) We celebrated our son's birthday there and they bought him a spumoni dessert- delish!

Bad excuse for Italian food, bad excuse for customer service. I am giving two stars because the decor is chintzy cute, and because I received food for my money. That's not saying much. This is possibly the only place I've eaten where my water wasn't refilled even though I asked for it to be. We came in at the dinner rush and I got the distinct feeling that because we weren't ordering appetizers, bottles of wine, and desserts, that we wouldn't receive good service. We were seated in the corner and the peppy waitress proceeded to practically ignore basic principles of service throughout the whole dinner. Besides the lack of water, the staff neglected to put dressing on my chicken caesar salad, something that took 10 minutes to fix after 10 mins of waiting for the waitress to be called over. Unfortunately, the chicken was extremely dry, so the lack of dressing was even more sobering. I also expected the portion that I was given to be bigger for $13 (I paid for a full order and the greens barely filled the plate). We went out to dinner and I was left wondering what made this any different from a bag salad I could have dumped into a bowl chez moi. My husband was only partially impressed with his seafood pasta - the sauce was really watery and tasted like they didn't let the wine cook down properly before serving it. It also came out lukewarm, which meant that ten minutes into the meal when I got to steal bites off his plate, it was icy. ICK. He was happy with the quantity and variety of the seafood though, mussels, clams, etc, so that was one thing. As others have mentioned, we weren't given a refill on bread, and the garlic butter barely tasted like garlic. You're doing something WRONG with Italian food if you can't taste garlic in something with garlic in the title. Just sayin'. Also, forget about finding parking here. Bottom line: if you really want something Italian, Auntie Pasto's (the one in Waipahu) has tastier, more authentic food, and better service for the same price. Go there now. Skip Cafe Olive.

Great place for the value. Hands down the best quality for the price. Great place to eat lunch with co-workers. My friend used them for her wedding and it went off without a hitch and was great quality at a very low price. Dont mistake this place for a high end italian restaurant with white table cloths. This is a different category and it fits the bill perfectly. Parking tough, but we always figure it out.

Went on a Friday night and there was live music. The guy singing with a guitar was good but he was so loud that i felt like I had to yell just to talk to the people at my table. Food however was AMAZING! i had the the Kim Chee pasta which if you like that you NEED to try. they use good kim chee and I dont think Ive had anything that came close. The presentation of the food and the atmosphere is good too. Even though its in Wahiawa surround by not so nice places its definitely worth the trip. :D

I was not impressed by this place. I took a bite of 5 items from the family in my table and they were all bad. No one finished their food. In additon, they rung up our bill over $25 bucks due to the owners mistake, I assume, Luckily, I spotted the mistake before we left. They voided the initial transaction, and it took them forever to find out what went wrong Lot of locals we know like this place, but this ain't real Italian--Kalbi (Korean short-ribs) should not be in the menu.

A great Italian restaurant in the heart of Wahiawa, where food is always fresh and service is beyond great. While I love fine Italian cuisine, and Cafe Olive may not be considered this by many, they certainly have a variety of selections and sauces that will satisfy the cravings of anyone, at a very reasonable price. The variety of sauces, salads, meat, fish, poultry, veggies and desserts makes this a great place for parties of a large number of people. I have been there for both large and intimate parites and regardless of the number of people we have in attendance, or how busy the restaurant is, the service and quality of food is never compromised. A few girlfriends and I decided to informally celebrate the upcoming wedding of one of our closest friends. Being able to bring in your own wine, with no corking fee, makes Cafe Olive an even better place to host any dinner party. We ordered 2 appetizers ~ the Brushetta and the Caprese Salad. Both dishes were enough for four and perfect to pair with a glass of wine before dinner. For dinner, we ordered 3 different dishes and had them family style. Fresh Opakapaka, olio style, w/whole wheat pasta and fresh steamed veggies ~ the perfect tasty selection for any health conscious individual. The Crab Stuffed Ravioli w/an Alfredo sauce was rich with creamy flavors, but not heavy. Lastly, the Chef's special, Asparagus and Shrimp on a bed of Pasta w/a Pesto sauce ~ was THE favorite for all of us. A setting with an Italian Bistro feel allows for a great "Girls' Night Out.' We were not rushed to make our selections, finish our meals or leave. The Cafe even offered live music during dinner. Our check was very easy on the wallet for such a great evening out; totalling around $65 for everything. Whether you're celebrating a special day with a loved one, out with some friends, or just want to enjoy a tasty Italian meal, I would highly recommend Cafe Olive. Oh and, if you're not into Italian cuisine, there was Kalbi on the menu....

Interesting place. It has potential but needs to grow some more. The service was great. The food came out fast but we had a party of six and they brought the plates out one or two at a time and took about five minutes from start to finish to serve everyone. The food was very good but I was kind of disappointed to only receive five shrimp on my shrimp and pasta dish. The next day two of us had unhappy tummys (very minor) and the only common denominator was the Fettuccini, but you never know for sure where it came from. I would go back again, especially if they started serving wine and beer.

Came here because we couldn't find the restaurant we were looking for. The parking was very limited, good thing i got the last parking spot. My friend and I walked in and were greeted by friendly waitresses. They sat us down at a wobbly table. The setting of the restaurant was very nice. The waitress told us about their specials and gave us our complimentary bread sticks. They were delicious, I ate like 3 baskets! We ordered our food. My friend had a chicken cesar salad and ravioli while I ordered pasta with italian sausage, the food was delicious. But it took a long time for our food to come. The live music made the setting more relaxing. I'd rather go to Ricardo's though. The food was ok, nothing to special.

Always liked this place from the beginning... Free bread with your meal. We ordered the special which had a creamy pesto, shrimp, asparagus, & cherry tomatoes. All I have to say It's bomb diggity. A must try! We also ordered some mozzarella sticks for an app. That was good. It came with both marinara & ranch. We also tried a chicken Caesar salad that was really good... I love the ambience and overall appearence. Recommend to all.

This was quite a find located in the same plaza as a adult book store and a strip club. I wasn't to sure about going in to eat given its' local. But who am I to turn down Italian food. Upon entering you travel to a beautiful Italian restaurant. All most like Alice through the looking glass. The bread that was served consisted of three tiny slices and a honey mustard colored butter that I think they wanted to call garlic butter. Come on over to my house and I will show you how to make garlic butter so strong it make your mama cry back home. We ordered the minestrone soup. Beautiful presentation, but it was served warm not hot. What! That was quickly fixed by our server. The house salad was green and leafy topped with a lite tasting house Italian and a little parm. Five stars there. We had fried calamari both the rings and the legs, served with marainara and lemon. Five stars. Wow. My companion had the Cesar salad with chicken. Wonderful. I had spaghetti with meatballs, the lunch special. Spaghetti noodles cooked perfectly, the sauce was a little sweet for my taste, and the meatballs were cold. Who wants cold meatballs? I don't. Tired of asking again to warm up the food I didn't even eat them. They sat on my bread dish all lonely and cold. The tables, drink glasses, and silver ware were clean, as well as the cheese shakers and the salt, pepper. The bread basket was disgusting and I think was never washed, it had about three years of crumbs stuck to the sides like an old toaster. Quick look away. Ack. We used to wash them at my old restaurant. Tines were bent on the forks. What were they doing with them? Bonus: as we enjoyed our lunch we had the privilege of see a street person walk by and some how he ended up with 90% of his butt crack facing the front doors for all to see. Hysterical and well tanned, I give him two stars!

Wasn't as impressed as everyone else but it was still good, just not great. I've been here twice, both times because of a Hot Deal Hawaii certificate I bought. And both times we came for lunch since it's cheaper. The first time was good, got the eggplant parmesan and was happy. My most recent visit I wanted to try the kal bi but they were all out :/ boo. So instead I ordered the creamy pesto fettuccine with chicken and I substituted the noodles for the organic whole wheat pasta since I read that it was good. And that was my mistake...those noodles were dry and so stiff. I tried my bf's regular fettuccine pasta and they were much better so i regretted my decision. But the pasta tasted store bought so I asked them if they homemade their pasta and they said no. I must say though, the sauce on that dish was good, just a little salty and oily and the chicken was pretty tender. Both times we ordered the Mozzarella Marinara as an appetizer which are just fried cheese sticks that were really good but I guess it's hard to mess those up. The location isn't the greatest and there wasn't any parking but I think if I get another deal I might come back.

I really loved this place, our waitress was super friendly. We got all of the appetizers on the menu. They were very very good i haven't had bruschetta and caprese salad that good before, i think it's worth the money. Haven't tried anything else but we will definitely come back to try more. I loved the atmosphere, and the music was very nice, Nina simone and Ella Fitzgerald, super cool. Great place to relax, was very surprised considering the location. But If you'd like to escape Wahiawa for a little while this place is great!:)

We have driven by this place numerous times and always mention "we should eat there sometime" Finally, after purchasing the $10 for $20 voucher on HOT DEALS HAWAII, we tried it. The inside is clean, decorated super cute, and has a fun feel to it. We went on Tuesday night, so they had live music, which was very pleasant. Our waiter, Bobby, was very friendly and offered many suggestions since it was our first time there. There was no wait time and the staff was very friendly. The food tasted AMAZING. I had the creamy pesto with chicken. It came with a salad, drink, and dessert. The spamoni ice cream cake was a great way to end the night. We will be back!

This is my third visit to the restaurant. Its the best Italian food in the immediate area. The quaint, cozy, full service restaurant is a nice change of pace from normal Wahiawa dining options. The food here is good, satisfying, but nothing spectacular. For starters we had the calamari and the New England clam chowder. For entrees I had the Fettucine Limone with shrimp and my boyfriend had the Eggplant Parmesan. I had expected a little more lemon flavor in the sauce, it was very garlicky but still good. The eggplant parmesan was a little burnt and in my opinion bland, but my bf liked it. The service was very friendly despite a couple of mix-ups on our order. Apparently, there was a training cook in the kitchen who made our order of calamari smaller than normal. We wouldn't have even noticed if the server hadn't pointed it out and brought us a whole extra serving of calamari to make up for the first undersized portion. There was also a mix-up in my order when the server brought my pasta out with chicken instead of shrimp. They offered a free dessert to make up for the mistake and corrected the order. A heads up to future diners, the restaurant is byob but they do charge a corkage fee of $5 per drinking customer per night. You also have the option to join their "wine club" for $10 per calendar year.

This place is awesome. Everything I've tried here is great. It is kind of a hidden jem of the island. Also I was really impressed with the cleanliness of the restrooms. There is a daily special with sausage, bacon, chicken, and meatballs that I totally recommend. I believe it is the fettuccine marbella. Not sure, but if you ask they'll know what your talking about.

Oh my GOD!!!! I will never eat here again. I had soup and salad that took 45 minutes to come out and tasted like Costco Caesar and campbells soup. This is definitely the first and last time I ever eat here. If you are thinking about coming here, DON'T!!!

Quant little place. Very nice atmosphere! Had the the best Crab Alfredo ever!! Their Korean dishes are great too! Its a neat story about the owner and his passion, but I promise you that you'll love the food! Prices and portions are great! As well as their daily specials. The staff is very nice. Very clean place!!

Yum Yum Yum! It's such a treat to stumble across this place in Wahiawa because the ambiance that you step into once you park your car takes you to another place. The word hole-in-the-wall diner is exactly what it's not....a diamond in the rough sounds better :) It's a little small, but cozy has a subtle feel of romance to it which would still make a girl put on a pair of heels to meet her hubby or girlfriends there. It's a comfortable little spot with great food because even though it's an Italian restaurant, the local laid back feel is still in the air because the owner keeps that sorta ambiance going with her staffs great aloha spirit. I love it because it's a flair of some of my two loves...Italian food and Korean Food. The owner subtly brings in the flair of both worlds enough s that one style of cooking is not dominating over the fact it is supposed to be an italian restaurant. First off, you need to try the classic Caprese ($6.95) appetizer of fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil, or oven-roasted eggplant ($6.95) served chilled with chopped tomatoes, basil as fresh as homegrown, and feta cheese. There was a vinegary cast to the eggplant that made it more acidic than savory, a trait that repeated itself on the spicy barbecue pork ($6.95). It was still palatable, just slightly different from what local palates expect, so enamored are we, instead, of fat and sugar. Similarly, those who've grown accustomed to the Assaggio's garlicky tomato sauces over the years (which is what i like cause i loooooooooove gaaaaaaaaaaarlic), will likely find Cafe Olive's tomato sauces tart. That might be fine for diners who think Assaggio's sauces heavy-handed. There's not a lot of difference among the various red sauces so puttanesca ($7.95 regular/$13.95 family) doesn't have quite enough anchovy or garlic power to make it stand apart from the red sauce accompanying scampi checca ($9.95/ $16.95). If you like to sample off friends' plates, you can escape the redundancy by ordering lemon scampi or lemon chicken ($8.95/$15.95) instead. My favorite dishes were the eggplant and kim chee fried rice ($6.95) topped with a poached egg. Desserts are also a treat. You can't miss with the tiramisu ($3.25) or mango cheesecake ($3.75). once again...yum

I've eaten here a couple of times years ago and the food was good. Decided to try it again last night and the food was delish!! I've been trying to find an Italian restaurant here on Oahu that makes Italian food that actually tastes like good Italian home cooking at a fair price. I've finally found it. Cafe Olive serves up a great linguine and meatballs!! It was perfect. Yummmmm....looking forward to going back to try all their other dishes including salad and desert.

This place is GREAT! My wife and I went in one day just wanting Italian and it really hit the spot. The food is stellar, and atmosphere is very relaxing. Service was hole in one. As far as I am concerned it is the best value for Italian you can find on Oahu.

The food is amazing, the setting is amazing, and if you go when they have live music it just puts the cherry on top. Sometimes the staff could be a little bit better but we love going here and they always do their best to take care of us. They are not normally very busy so it makes it a nice date setting. This place also does a good job with families and has seating for big parties. The brushetta is an amazing appetizer and their desserts are all very good.

best service on this island! Ask for Moe...he was nothing but attentive and catered to our every need. I love this place, it's my favorite italian restaurant. It's unique! The owner is so cute and nice! She always makes sure your doing ok, and always has a smile on her. This is the only place i'd actually eat salad from cause the vinegar sauce is just my taste. omg and the bruschettas taste better than any other place i've tried. They have the best chicken parmesan spaghetti, the sauce is so so DELICIOUS. I also like the fettucine marbella, it's a spicy one. With 4 different meats in it. Okay i'm getting hungry now and craving for it now. They also have live music. One with a man singing, and this other time a guy playing the guitar. I loved the guitar player, he played really mellow songs that matched the ambience. Overall I love this place and will always come back!

Location location location If this restraunt was located in a upscale area of Rome, or were competing with other great Italian restraunts in little Italy I would be hard pressed to give it three stars. However it is located in wahiawa so it is only competing with taco bell, ice heads, and the illegal saimin/bodega van for culinary excellence. Taking this into account five huge stars for the great food, good service, reasonable prices, heaping portions, clean kitchen, and byobness that all combine to make this the ONLY decent place to go out in wahiawa. I work up here and I can say that 90% of the other establishments in 96786 should be shut down by the health department, or burned down by the patrons for making such bland food. I can't recommend this place enough if you're in the area

If you're looking to have a fairly cheap Italian dinner and live in the Mililani/Wahiawa area, you should try Cafe Olive. It's not the best quality or anything but it's decent and there's almost always live music and it's BYOB! Can't go wrong with BYOB. I love the antipasto salad, it has meats and a tangy dressing on romaine lettuce. The ambiance is cute too, it feels really welcoming and peaceful.

My wife and I decided to support the worthwhile establishments in Wahiawa, this is definitely one of them. It is good to see a nice family restaurant doing well in Wahiawa, rather than one more strip bar, tattoo parlor, or nail salon. I like their spaghetti and meatballs that I snitched from my sons plate...

I came here for the first time on a Sunday night last winter and had an amazing meal and there was also some live music. The portions are huge and reasonably priced and the wait staff is top notch. Parking can be a bit rough but i've never had any issues getting a spot with in a block or two. I try to go whenever i get the chance but being in wahiawa is really the only drawback

I have gotten food from here a few times but never was that impressed. maybe it was because it was always takeout... It just always seemed right at edible.

We've eaten dinner at Cafe Olive a number of times and it is always delicious. This is one tiny restaurant so reservations are a good idea on weekends when one large party can take up most of the place. They have a really interesting combination of Italian and the occasional Korean dish, like short ribs which are sometimes a special. Bring your own wine and there is not even a corkage fee! Friendly service and nice musical entertainment on several nights. A couple months ago we tried their Sunday brunch and it was fabulous. We had short rib hash and salmon eggs benedict ... wonderful. Parking is really tight so you might have to get creative.

Oh my gosh. Where do I begin with this place. My boyfriend and I wanted Italian food for lunch. We were actually thinking of Bravos. But I ain't about that traffic back. Thanks to yelp, we found this place. Very convenient because we didn't want to drive far (boyfriend lives in Wahiawa). Parking is very limited, thank goodness there was a stall available right when we pulled in the lot. As soon as we got in, we were greeted and seated. We ordered roasted eggplant for our appetizer, and complete entrée- chicken Marsala for my love and fettuccine limone (sp) for me. The complete comes with soup or salad, your entrée, drink and dessert. They also give you bread to begin with. The food was just on point. And I'm pretty picky when it comes to food. and the dessert, goodness. Their Spumoni was great! The service quality and the quality of the food is off the board! Seriously. Just try the place out.

Our favorite little date spot. Came here last night for my birthday, was nice and quiet when we came in around 630 and we got the table in the back (reserved). The waiter was so sweet and very attentative, great service! Now for the food, we ordered the calamari which was delish. For main dishes we got my son the keiki spaghetti and meatballs which was a huge portion and he's eating it again for breakfast it was so yummy! My other half got the broccoli Alfredo w/ chicken which was good and I got the pasta a LA vodka w/shrimp and omg it was so good!! Best I've had the sauce was so rich and flavorful. We will def be back! Totally forgot dessert.. the tiramisu is to die for, so effing fluffy and good. Get it!

We arrived at 6PM for dinner. Parking was very hard to come by. Either the strip of about 6 spaces on the side or street parking. They greeted us as soon as we entered. There were about 4 other tables when we arrived. After about 15 mins, the waiter finally came over. We ordered mozz sticks, firecracker shrimp for apps. Since it had been so long we also ordered our entrees. Since the child's menu only had one option, meatballs and spaghetti, my son choose the crab Alfredo. My husband choose the spicy pasta dish. I choose eggplant parm. My daughter choose the child's meal. The apps came very quickly. We had ordered 3 waters and one fruit juice. I had to ask after we received apps for our drinks. The apps were ok. The shrimp were big and tasted fine. Nothing special. The mozz sticks were the usual fare. After about 45 mins our entrees arrived. Instead of spaghetti noodles, everything was fettuccine noodles. I found it a little weird. Everything was hot. My son's crab had big chunks of crab meat. My eggplant was really hot, that I couldn't eat it. It was ok. my husband said his entree was bland and not spicy at all. My daughter likes her meatballs but she'll eat anything. The service is why the rating is so low. I received one refill of water. No one else received any water refills or anything. I think our waiter was new or something. He messed up quite a few tables. I asked for more bread and never received it. He never came by to see if everything was ok. We sat a the table with empty plates for 15 mins. The waiter finally arrived and I asked for the check. 10 more mins later, he gave me the wrong check. I had to ask the other waitress for our correct check. I don't think we will be back. Food was forgettable and service was way below par.

Wanted to have a dinner close to home and found this Italian eatery on Yelp. Not expecting much, I was totally surprised how much I loved dining there. Great food, affordable prices and excellent service will keep me coming back. It was a quiet night when a friend and I dined there making it perfect for some much needed girl talk, but the restaurant offers live music on Sundays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. It's byob! Great find in Wahiawa!

Went here for dinner with my family, we had a party of seven, the service was pretty good the food was just okay. The reason for the one star is later that night 3 of the 7 of our party were ill, throwing up and trips to the toilet. Don't think we will ever be going back. :(

The food and service is great. It has a very intimate feel & the servers are well mannered. Just wished they had a bigger menu option, instead of mostly marinara.

It's so difficult to find good Italian food on Oahu so this was a nice find hidden among the strip malls in Wahiawa. We found it by accident. The food was very tasty and the service was good. I have had different dishes and really enjoyed them, including the eggplant parmigiana. I've been there for lunch and it was easy to get seated with no wait. The cafe is very quaint and an unexpected nice little escape for lunch in the middle of the island. I found some of the items a little overpriced, but there are other more reasonably priced choices.

The parking is limited but they're so worth a couple spins around the block. The restaurant is very cafe'and comfortable. The wait staff is fun & attentive. My chicken parmigiana was awesome! The pasta was al dente, the marinara sauce tasted fresh and had a bit of a kick. The slab of chicken was cooked through, covered in a flaky crust and topped with the perfect amount of sauce and cheese! I wish I had room for dessert. Spumoni ice cream please! Until next time... Ciao!

I almost forgot I was in wahiawa!!! Such a cute little place!!! Nice atmosphere, lighting, the little fixtures. I love this place. I had the chicken pesto fettuccine and it was amazing. I wasn't expecting such a nice presentation!!!! And decent price!!!! Even the owner came by our table to see how everything was. Cutest little lady..... She says she's been here for ten years!!!! I wish I knew earlier!!!! They have house made tiramisu which is amazing. Light and fluffy and a big serving. And it's a shame I don't know the word but some kind of ice cream with a chocolate crust that, I think, came from the fudge gods. Me and my cousin decided we will come once a week. Lol

Just moved from here from Italy and Cafe Olive blew us away with how close the food was to that of Italia. We had the Frith del Mare and Chicken Parmesan and they were amazing, not to mention huge plates of food. Servers were awesome and environment was comfortable and very clean. Thanks for making my daughter's birthday one to remember!

Nice little place. It was not packed when we went in on a Friday night. We ordered mozzarella sticks and calamari for appetizers. They were JUST okay. I would not order those again. The dinner and desserts however were delicious! We both had crab Alfredo. It tasted fresh and was very well seasoned. For dessert I had the tiramisu and my husband had the cheese cake. We both loved it. I ordered a root beer which tasted like straight syrup and ended up getting a lemonade which was very good. The meal comes with bread which was just a plan white bread with herb butter. Won't be my first go to restaurant but I'd visit again!

It was my first time in this cute, little Italian restaurant located in Wahiawa. And my Was it an pleasant experience. I didn't really know what to expect, I pass by it basically everyday and finally decided to walk in :) PARKING: Parking is immediately after STN, if you're coming from the north side. It's a one way parking lot and space is limited to around 10 Vehicles. We came on a Saturday night, and were welcomed by their friendly hosts. We were immediately seated in this cute little area surrounded by little shrubs and our awesome server Remii lit the candle at our table. Specials are located on the chalk board that can easily been seen when you enter. MENU & SERVICE: Within 5 minutes of seating we received our delicious complimentary garlic butter, balsamic vinegar, olive oil and toasted French bread. Our waiter was extremely accommodating and informative about the items on their menu. They have a good selection of pastas, sandwiches and prices range from $6-$17. By the way drinks are BYOB; $5 bottle service. FOOD: We decided to go with their featured specials: Fettuccine Marbella & Fruitti de mare. The first was a meat special, including Italian sausage, chicken, with a lovely tomato spiced sauce. The second was a seafood special with a creamy Alfredo sauce. We also ordered some calamari & mozzarella sticks. The portions were pretty good for the price. There was about a 10-15 minute wait for the pastas but the appetizers came in about 10. The calamari was a little chewy, with a herbed, Spiced batter, served with cocktail sauce. The mozzarella sticks came with about 8, served with marinara sauce. Both tasted great, around $7 each. Delicious meal overall. So much that we had to take some home! ATMOSPHERE Low light, small, welcoming, warm, casual, intimate, great for dates, cozy. Classical instrumental music that'll make you feel like you're in a little French restaurant ;) RECOMMENDED? YAAAAASSSSSS.

I do love this place!! Good food, great service, corking fee but that means you get to bring your favorite wine!! For real, go eat here!! PS...they remember you and what you order--customer service that is almost a thing of the past!

First timers and we were both THOROUGHLY pleased. The service was fantastic and the ambient was unbeatable. They did a great job of decorating, for a while we forgot we were in wahiawa. We brought our own wine, per previous yelpers, and it was a $5 corking fee which was very reasonable. The food was incredible from the warm bread to the lentil & sausage soup and mozzarella sticks. And then...the entrées. Omg. I had the creamy pesto fetuccini w/ chicken and it was too good to be true and he had the fetuccini chef special which was incredible. We swapped plates halfway through. Needless to say, the entire experience was excellent and we will absolutely be returning. *Side note, the live music on Sunday evenings is wonderful

Very surprised, good food and great service. Always passed by cafe olive on the way home from north shore and never even thought of stopping here but yelp said it was good so we decided to try it out. We were not disappointed. The inside was really nice. We had the fettuccine lemon with shrimp, and the broccoli fettuccine with garlic shrimp. Thank you for the awesome service Elycia. We will be back.

There are tons of really nice restaurants on the island but Wahiawa doesn't have very many which makes Olive one hell of a gem! The chefs prepare everything fresh daily! The sauce tastes like a little ole woman from Sicily made it lol but in fact the owner is Asian with a flare for Italian food, she awesome and makes it a point to stop by each table! My family and I are regulars and feel right at home singing and even dancing to the live music on certain nights. The atmosphere is like a big family dinner at grandma's house. The staff is very attentive and very welcoming Between my family and I we've tasted just about every item on the menu but don't let that stop you the chef is always prepared to create or customize dishes to your personal satisfaction. I highly recommend the Caprese, Antipasto, and Shrimp Ceasar Salads, they're both huge portions and packed with toppings! The lasagna is far from average it's baked deliciousness! The Shrimp&Scallops with Asparagus is mouth watering with the perfect hint of lemon! My personal favorite is the KimChee Pasta add Italian sausage AWWWWWSOME!!! FYI: the restaurant doesn't serve alcohol it's BYOB with a $5 cork fee so bring enough to share we always do!

Ordered take out and food was supposed to be ready at 8 pm. It wasn't ready for another 5 minutes because we were waiting on my salad. Oh...kay. Anyhow I wasn't super impressed with the service when I walked in. No one greeted me and it being my first time there, I wasn't sure who I was supposed to see or wait for so I just waited behind the lady who was chatting with the hostess/cashier. Got two entrees and the antipasto salad (really delicious and flavorful house dressing). $50. The shrimp was great but the steak was so-so. The pesto pasta was delicious but the chicken was extremely tough. Like didn't even want to eat it at all tough. Oh well, we will probably still go back and try dining in. Still gave 4 stars because it is hard finding decent food here in town.

cute little place in wahiawa! you wouldnt expect it by looking at their exterior but inside is a romantic, quaint cute restaurant. The waitresses were super friendly too. The food was pretty good too! and the spumoni dessert was great to end with :) I ordered the kimchi pasta. Maybe it's because I come from a korean mom who can cook really well but to me, it just tasted like kimchi tossed in noodles so I wasn't impressed and it just tasted cheap. Thought it would be more unique but my boyfriend's pesto pasta and the friend's chicken parmesan was good. It's good for date nights too I think :)

This has easily become one of my favorite little restaurants. My boyfriend and I love it so much we make it a point to stop by at least twice a month. The service is just wonderful. Everyone from wait staff to owners are so friendly and make you feel welcome. The food is good. We love the bruschetta pomodoro, the Kimchee pasta, and for dessert their delicious Tiramisu. The only complaint I have is that the drink menu is very limited and I like that is byow, but it would be nice to have at least a couple of options. Parking is also limited. Other than that it's a great spot and they will continue to get our service.

Was really disappointed with this place.... We had a reservation for our anniversary. When we arrived we had a table waiting for us in the back corner, which was nice since this was a night out without kids. Everything seemed alright at first... The inside is small and seemed quiet... Shortly after sitting down and receiving our appetizer, they sat a family of 6 next to us. Suddenly this place was no longer quiet. The menu has options for children, but the romantic setting inside suggest otherwise. Oh well, kids happen and can't blame the restaurant for this... Well once they sat down I noticed there were suddenly a long list of chef specials offered to them. A bit dissapointed we didn't get offered these specials cause a couple of them sounded good. We also noticed that the manager/owner arrived. She got her own table in the opposite corner for her and her friends. She was questioning the wait staff in front of customers and seemed pretty closed off to the customers overall. Honestly seemed mean and that probably explains why they are short staffed. Once we got our entrees it seemed as if we were no longer welcomed there. The waitress came over twice trying to wrap up my wife's plate rather then letting her finish. The rest of the time we just seemed rushed. We noticed that the waitress and manager were constantly watching us like we were supposed to hurry up and eat so they could open up the table. The food was average for Italian food. Nothing to really be excited about. We skipped dessert since we felt like they wanted us out. Ended up at baskin Robbins on schofield for dessert instead. All in all from seating to cash out one hour... If they had it their way we would have been gone in 45 minutes... On that note, the search continues for a really GOOD legitimate restaurant in Hawaii... (Besides Cheesecake Factory)...

My first time at this place. The food is ok. Nothing stood out to me. Most Italian restaurants give you nice & warm bread, but theirs was just plain and thin. The butter pesto it comes with wasn't at all exciting. I would have preferred regular butter. Our waitress was great though! We asked a sample of their cesar salad & the waitress was so nice to say ok. She brought out a small sample of the ceasar salad dressing ONLY (no lettuce), so we couldn't really decide if it was good enough to order. We told her about it, and she was nice enough to apologize & that she did ask her "boss" & her boss said no lettuce, just the dressing. We weren't expecting a whole plate to sample. We just wanted a "sample". So that was a huge turn off right there for my husband and me! My husband told the waitress to tell her "boss" that they just lost an order. I mean how much would a few pieces of lettuce cost her business? If they did give us some lettuce to just try with the dressing, we most likely would have ordered the salad. It wasn't the best ceasar salad we've tasted, but we would have ordered it because of great service & willingness to let us try the salad (Ricado's in Aiea btw is the best!) Not sure if we'll be coming back to this place. There are way better tasting Italian restaurants out there.

This is a great lunch & dinner spot. Nice decor, music, & super friendly people. Went here for lunch & was impressed with the menu--simple classics to more complex dishes. Our group had salad & spaghetti and lasagna; each was good and the salad was fresh with a light vinaigrette. Fresh bread with garlic butter, & oil with balsamic vinegar was served. Service was fast and the parking was adequate. However, Killer Tacos just opened next door so that may put pressure on the number of stalls. Staff did mention they'd be stepping up the specials to compete with Killer Tacos, so definitely worth a visit. I'll be back for dinner on a weekend.

Good find! Nice atmosphere. Clean. Don't be fooled by the exterior. Classy music. Great food. Good place for a date. Romantic. But also good for girl time. We'll come back. Only downfall is BYOB. No alcohol sold here. A quick walk to Walgreens is a fix. $5 cork fee

Delicious!! Had been craving some good Italian, heard nothing but good about this place nearby, and decided to finally try it out tonight for my birthday with my children. Super friendly and helpful staff! and the restaurant itself was so quaint and had great atmosphere. A gentleman was singing beautiful live music, and even grabbed the restaurants attention and sang me happy birthday =) My children are picky eaters and finished every bite of their spaghetti and meatball dishes, and my daughter and I had the chicken ceasar salad and creamy pesto alfredo with chicken. We left full and happy with the entire dining experience =) Will definitely be returning.

Yet another amazing experience at Cafe Olive! Because i work in Wahiawa, my co-workers and I frequent this restaurant for high quality take out food or with a bottle of wine to vent about our day... This time, we had take out. The timing was perfect- they ensured us that our food would be ready in 20 minutes and it was ready and waiting when we got there! Unfortunately, they gave me chicken parmesan instead of eggplant parmesan.... If you know me, you know this is a big deal. It's all in how they handle it. (I have gone here probably over ten times and this is the first time they have ever done this- so don't fear, fellow yelpers, it is not a daily occurrence!) So as I munched ravenously on my complimentary bread (with a to-die-for garlic butter) I told them about the mix up. They assured me they would take care of it and asked me when I wanted to pick up my eggplant parmesan. My friends were not disappointed either... the chicken broccoli Alfredo was a hit and the chicken marsala was eaten suspiciously fast.... An hour later when I was out of work (finally) they greeted me with a smile and a sincere apology. My food was ready, hot and DELICIOUS! (see previous review for details on how amazing the eggplant parmesan is!)

My husband and I frequently pass by this place given we live in wahiawa... We were reluctant to give it a shot because of the shabby location it's in. We didnt wanna go that far on mother's day so we decided to try this place out... TADAAAAAA!!!! It's the best!!! Food is soooo good! Service is excellent!! Live music you cant go wrong with that.. The food is super tasty! Food feels like you are in a 5star restaurant!!! I love it here..

Clearly not 5 stars but a legitimate 4. Really a great time with my wife and two kids. Jason our waiter was awesome. I had the Fettuccine Marbella. Not really made for my taste buds. It wasn't bad by and means, I wanted to try something different. There was only a few other diners so the place was quiet. It was nice eating dinner and not having to yell. The music was pleasant, once again not loud but set perfectly. The best part, oddly enough the temperature. It was perfect. Service was great, our waiter was prompt and courteous.

Gave this place another try in hopes of a better experience. Fire shrimp was pretty good. Spiced with chili and garlic, this was a great appetizer with bread. However, I ordered the Chicken Marsala and it was the strangest version I've ever had. I'm fairly open to varied preparations of Marsala sauce but I could not finish half of this dish. Thickly breaded chicken cutlet with no seasoning at all, topped with what tasted to me like Demi glacé, capers, and mushrooms. No taste of Marsala whatsoever....this really was closer to a local-style chicken cutlet with gravy. The cutlet was not only tasteless but soggy inside. Bed of pasta underneath the chicken was severely overcooked and steamed veg (tasteless) on the side didn't make any sense to me. Service was good and prices aren't too bad, and parking is never an issue. But, I don't think I'll ever return again.

One of the reasons why I'm glad I live in Wahiawa! This place is truly a gem. Went here with a friend a year ago, since I wanted to try this place after driving pass it a thousand of times. I can't believe I live in Wahiawa most of my life and have yet to try this place. What I remember about the visit was the good food and service. I went here with my boyfriend recently on a Friday, and it is still the same. We came here around 6pm and we were greeted by three servers and promptly seated. It was not very busy when we went. We received complimentary bread with butter, and olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I love the sweet and savory combo of both liquids together, as they complement each other really well. My boyfriend ordered the Chicken Parmesan (which I ordered my first time here) and I had the Spaghetti with Meatballs. The Spaghetti and Meatballs was delicious! It's very tasty, since it has garlic, onions, fresh tomato and basil. For dessert, we had the Cheesecake with raspberry puree with a dollop of whip cream of top. It was so good, to the point our plate was empty. During dinner, there were a rush of people coming in so it got quite busy. I'm all about good customer service, but we felt that it was a little too much. As me and my boyfriend were eating, one of the waiters came and tried to make conversation. All we could think about is, "We're hungry! We just wanna eat." lol, since we just came from work. Irregardless, awesome food and customer service!

It was me and my family's 1st time here and we loved it! We were greeted with a warm welcome & was seated right away. Our server offered great customer service and recommended what dishes were good. My boys were pleasantly surprised at how great everything tasted. I got the Brocolli Alfredo and it was filling, good thing I shared with my son. To top it off I tried the spumoni (sp?), it was yummy! I definitely would be coming back here again.

A nice little bistro on the main road through Wahiawa. Food was delicious, and the decor was nice. The wait staff was very friendly and swift, the atmosphere was relaxed, and a classical guitarist played during part of the evening. So, four or five stars up to this point. Here's the downer: I ordered the frutti du mare, thinking that the seafood would be fresh or at least locally caught. And it is entirely possible that they were - but either way, the dish made me very ill within an hour, and I spent the next two weeks recovering from food poisoning. Not sure if I will go back. Definitely will stay away from the seafood. I hate to give a negative review because of how enjoyable the evening was, but I have concerns about food safety in their kitchen.

Well, what can I say. It was okay. I ordered take out. Crab Alfredo, Shrimp Ala Vodka and Chicken Putanesca. My son ordered the Crab Alfredo and judging by the look on his face, he was not too impressed, the same goes for me and my wife, who had the shrimp. It was one of those things that you have to try it for yourself. My chicken was alright but.....I've had better. TIP: Take out for dinner can not be picked up before 5pm.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
