My wife and I spent two nights at this location during our honeymoon and it was one of the highlights of the trip. I am mainly writing this review as an update to the reviews left by others as everything is still essentially the same as they describe it. Bill, the owner of the property, stopped by for a bit upon our arrival to give helpful information not just about the volcano area but about our whole trip. The house itself is tastefully appointed and the owners have thoughtfully provided a number of items such as flashlights, robes, an ice cooler, etc. A great variety of breakfast items and tea, of course, are provided and replaced daily. The hot tub provides a great setting for relaxation, set back a bit from the house along a lighted trail through the woods. The property is located on 2+ acres with beautiful landscaping and walking trails through dense vegetation. I would highly recommend this property as a place to stay during your visit to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Even though we were on the Big Island only a short time, it was one of the best places we stayed in our 2 week long vacation across multiple Hawaiian islands and Seattle. One of my favorite parts of the entire trip was sitting in the hot tub at night and listening to the bamboo. I love the privacy and the gardens were beautiful and the house is really comfortable. We managed to make it twice to Volcano National Park (day and night) and up to Mauna Kea for the sunset all in one day. The baked goods and fresh fruit and Portuguese sausage and eggs were wonderful we loved cooking in the kitchen and having a nice relaxing breakfast. Of course there was plenty of tea and coffee to choose from as well. I consider this one of the highlights of the vacation and money well spent.

It's been 2 weeks since me and my girl returned from our vacation on the big island, and I can't stop thinking about our trip--all those little moments that make the work-a-day world feel even more of a mundane trudge than usual. One of those little moments was our 2 idyllic nights at the Volcano Teapot Cottage. I found them on trip advisor and the description and photos sounded like some kind of storybook place that doesn't really exist--so I was skeptical--having been played the fool more than once from insidiously misleading vacation rental ads, where the description "ocean front" is code for a stenchy, dirty harbor view where crack of dawn garbage trucks come to pick up the fishy leftovers from the noisy hotel restaurant that happens to be one floor below. Volcano teapot cottage is paradise. It's quaint and cozy but not in a treacly way, and it's smack in the middle of the most incredible rain forest where amazing things grow and you can sit in the perfectly nestled hot-tub and watch the dew drip off the orchid blossoms, or take a zen walk through your own very private piece of the rain forest with nary a soul around, or soak in the claw-foot bathtub after a hike through the kiluaua-iki crater, or eat fresh papaya and home-made banana bread on the porch of the lovingly restored mission style bungalow and watch the Kalij pheasant couple that squat on the property, feeding on papaya skins. One day we made it back to the cottage right before a fierce thunder and lightening storm--we lit the gas "fireplace" in the livingroom, drew a bubble bath and ordered take-out gourmet pizza from an amazing restaurant down the street. Our host called to see if we were ok due to the intensity of the storm, but we couldn't have been happier, shut-in in this magical cottage together. The worst thing about it is that we were only able to stay 2 nights since we'd planned most of our stay on the other side of the island. When I return (and I definitely will), it will be for as many nights as I can eek out of my "real life"--Volcano Teapot Cottage will be our home-base--so much to see and do on this side of the island, add to that, time to just be still and listen to the birds, the rain, and pretend you are the protagonists in the last chapter of a fairy-tale.

An ideal honeymoon location. Gorgeous cottege, close to a couple of good places to eat, and a fantastic hot tub. Helpful hosts, great food, fantastic coffee and tea, and a cozy fireplace. What more do you need?

The other reviewers pretty much covered it, but I just want to reiterate how much beautiful detail is in this place. From the fully stocked kitchen to the romantic hot tub, everything was just perfect! The hosts are helpful when you need them and invisible when you don't (they live about a quarter mile away). You can't go wrong with the Teapot Cottage!

This place was awesome. We stayed there for two nights and used it as a base to explore the volcano and it was perfect. I am always reluctant to give five stars for anything, but I have no faults with the Teapot Cottage. Could be because I love anything to do with tea, and I can see our hostess does also. The kitchen is fully stocked with all kinds of tea, teapots, bottled water to brew tea, kettles, teacups.... Of course, they thought of everything. It was like staying at a friend's house in Hawaii, which is what I usually do. Ok, so tell me, when have you ever stayed in a place that has a bathroom stocked with tampons? Amazing! Now that is thinking of the guest's needs.

My husband and I spent the last 4 nights of our honeymoon staying at the Volcano Teapot. What a perfect way to end our trip! The cottage is adorable, the grounds are gorgeous, and it's about a mile (less?) from the Volcanoes National Park. Prior to our visit, the owners (Bill and Antoinette) sent us a ton of information about the area and things to do. We were fortunate enough to meet them during our stay, and they are great people - very warm and so helpful! Listen to their suggestions - they didn't steer us wrong once! Breakfast for the next morning was brought each day while we were out sightseeing - fresh fruits, pastries, yogurt, bread, cereal, bagels, you name it. The cottage is full of little details to help make your stay more comfortable - from the flashlights for night hiking, to cozy robes for walking to and from the outdoor hot tub on a chilly night...they thought of everything! We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, and are looking forward to returning some day!

Wanna have a truly enchanting experience on your Big Island vacation? Stay at this very cozy & charming cottage in Volcano Village! It's nestled in a tropical rainforest and surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens. The cottage has everything you can possibly need during your stay (umbrellas- yes it rains here! maps, restaurant menus, flashlights, slippers, board games, books, dvds, cds, I can go on and on). We especially loved all the breakfast goodies and beverage selection! We always looked forward to coming home to see just what Bill and Antoinette left for us to munch on. I agree with Kelly H. when she said that the owners thought of everything! The privacy of having our own home away from home was awesome, and the convenience of the location to the Volcano Nat'l. Park couldn't be better. If you're looking for a resort type hotel, this isn't the place for you. If you enjoy old cozy cottages that really give you a sense of history of the place, however, then you've gotta give this gem a try.
