I hadn't been here in years, but it's less than a mile from my home, so we had to try it. What a pleasant surprise! I got mahi with vegetables and mashed potatoes. I don't usually order mashed potatoes, but there's were heavenly. The ambiance and crowd can be a mix of biker/cowboy, but the staff are super and made us and our two-year-old daughter feel right at home.

Even though I can't eat here, it's still a good place to get a drink and listen to a live band. Plenty of room is left for dancing if you're so inclined. If you aren't gluten free like me, try a classic burger and fries, onion rings, or any of their other menu classics. My boyfriend has a burger and said that it wasn't too big, and was a solidly decent burger. The temperature in Makawao is so perfect, they leave the doors open to the fresh air during the day.

Great place, awesome server that was also the bartender I don't remember his name but he was originally from Portland 9 years ago. He provided fast friendly service. The fried chicken was small pieces but fantastic! I will suggest this place to everyone I know that is visiting Maui. This place is also affordable and not over priced. We ended our night at Third Friday Makawao here. They had a band (Annie & The Orphanz) playing who sang okay covers. ATMOSPHERE: It was someone's home that got turned into a bar according to my friend. Simple open-air structure with a nice size bar and outdoor seating on the back porch. There's a small parking lot in front and a big municipal parking lot in the back. SERVICE: There was only 1 server for the entire bar. It took a while for her to come around but after that she was constantly checking on us. Very friendly lady. TIP: It can get very hot inside because they shut all the doors and windows to keep the noise inside and have no a/c. OVERALL: Nice place to hangout and have a few brews. They also offer karaoke on certain nights.

I order a Mahi plate.. it was pretty ono but for the price I was disappointed in the over all meal.. i do have to say the bartender was very nice though.. but one of the waitresses needed a serious attitude agustment..

There are nights on vacation when I am loath to spend $120 plus on dinner and drinks and just want a casual meal. This is it. Excellent veggie burger piled with veggies and fries and a very decent Pinot Grigio. Husband got fish and chips, prepared crispy as requested. He likes a sports fix, too, and it was provided at no pain to me. I'm coming back again. Full bar, good service. Liking it, Stopwatch. Looking at some of the bitchy reviews, puleeze... came here with my family for vacation and I must say the food was amazing. it was extremely busy the night I came and there was only one server and maybe 2 cooks so as you can imagine we had to wait for about an hour to get our food. the server was extremely nice though and we had to give her a great tip because everyone was complaining but she was doing all she could to make things run smoothly. the fries are great and they have decent prices. overall a good experience

We've eaten at the Stopwatch many times and have always had a good meal. Much to my disappointment that was not the case last night. I ordered the mahi plate with rice and salad. The fish was supposed to be grilled with furikake-panko coating. What I was served was 2 tiny pieces that were plain and bland with no taste. When we got our bill, I noticed we were overcharged for my meal and charged for a drink we didn't have. The bartender took both charges off and apologized sincerely, which we appreciated. This won't keep us from going back, but it kinda took the shine off the place for me. Update. What's wrong with me? We decided to give them another try because it's been one of our favorite locals place. Never again for dinner. I had an Asian Steak Stir Fry that was forgettable (except for the strong raw onion taste in my mouth). Hubby had a burger that was "okay." And when we got the bill we were overcharged for my meal AGAIN! Lesson learned. Will only stop for pupu's and brews from now n.

They used to have the best hot wings up country but I don't know what happened!!! Even my 2 year old niece would have been left hungry with the site of their wings!!! As a frequent patron of this establishment, I wish I could write something better. Always enjoyed watching footballs games there, and bartender (forgot his name) is awesome HOWEVER today I went in excited for some good ol bar food. Instead I sat for 10-15 mins while the waitress not only ignored, but made me feel incredibly unwelcome. She helped others around me even while making eye contact with me. I have been a server/bartender for 8 years, and have never ever experienced this. I will never spend another penny there, nor will i recommend to any of the visitors of the islands ever again, which is easy in my line of work.

Searching for a public bathroom in Makawao is quite hard, not even the gas station across the street had one, but thankfully this place let us use their bathroom without any questions asked. we were advised by a local biker to rent a harley and ride up here for lunch......couldn't have been better advice!! Awesome low-key hang out among the locals....great view, and fantastic beer on tap! Food was good....what you would expect from a local sports bar. Overall just a great place to get away from the tourists in Maui and relax!

I grew up in Makawao but never been to stop watch while i still lived here obviously b/c I was too young. I went in today looking for a place to watch the SD charger game which started at 7am. I didn't go in until 8 but the bartender "Jonathan" explained that he is there at 7 and happy to open the doors for a fan --I'll remember that next time. It was filled with a variety of fans, generous drinks and delicious food. I found the service, attention and customization to be very welcoming. He was flexible to make or do whatever he could to make sure every fan was taken care of, great hospitality and although I was surrounded by raider fans at the end of the game, I had a fantastic time! Mahalo!

Stopped here for a quick lunch only, so can't comment on the beers. We each tried a different burger, and they were pretty good, as were the fries. Minus a star for only having herbal iced tea (I needs my caffeine!) and a smelly bathroom whose exhaust fan was blowing back in the window by our table :p. There are are about 10-12 parking spots out front, plus this is really close to the big free parking lot just a little ways down the street.

I've been here many times and was always satisfied with the food and service. This last experience left me wondering if old school service, especially to local(return) customers is a lost art. The server was doing the best she could on Monday night. We were there to eat not drink, therefore ordered coffee with the meal. Since when do restaurants charge for coffee refills??? Is this a thing now?? If so, the servers should mention it before they tack on $2.50 every time you ask for a refill.. For coffee!! Had I known while washing down my $15.00 meal I could have budgeted for a fatter tip. What happened to common sense and customer service . It's not here thank you very much.

Great place for beers, burgers or maybe a Pau Hana cocktail. The best part about the Stop Watch is the people who go there. There's definitely a fun group of regulars here. Upcountry Maui is filled with some classic characters to say the least.

After ziplining at Piiholo Ranch our tour guide suggested we check out Stopwatch for some good beer. Since he was cool we checked it out. We had a great time at the bar. We only ordered beers but they seemed to have a good menu. All the food coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled good. Hubby and I liked the vibe of the bar and will go back on our next trip when we need to feed our thirst.

Very good. Great service! At first you may think, meh just a sports bar. They have the best fresh Hawaiian beers on tap. Their dishes include many locally grown ingredients. I had a burger that was very fresh, not greasy or fatty at all! Their french fries are also great. Lory has been working there for a long time and cares about customers being happy.

Saw this place across the street from the gas station, thought we'd give it a shot. Great place to watch a game-at least 3 TV's. Lots of food to choose from on the menu, which is a surprise, for a sports bar. I ordered their chicken breast sandwich, with jalapeno jack cheese cooked in cajun seasoning and tomatoes on a hamburger bun. I opted for the garlic mashed potatoes for a side. The sandwich was good, but a little dry, so I asked for a side of ranch. The garlic mashed potatoes were delicious-the gravy was on the side, which was nice. Not a big fan of gravy and it was nice to have mashed potatoes that weren't drenched in gravy. The guy that was working seemed to be working alone, so the service wasn't great. For two sandwiches, it came out to $31, fairly reasonable.

Beer is good and cold, they have sports on tv, i think they even have karaoke some nights. One night I went in after the rodeo and there was a band playing and people dancing. Nice upcountry vibe.
