The bread was worth the trip alone, and the rest of lunch didn't disappoint either. Friendly staff, fresh food, and did I mention delicious bread? I got the Wailea, which had turkey, bacon, avocado, and loads of fresh veggies. My son had a simple ham and cheese and along with a couple of sodas the whole thing was still under $20, which is a pleasant surprise on Maui where things are generally expensive. Cash-only (as indicated on Yelp already) and quite cozy. Grab a table outside and take your time with the best sandwich in Lahaina.

Let's be honest. On a honeymoon, you've got more important things to do than worry about where to eat. Well stop wasting your time reading a million reviews, and check out this place. It's a great place to stop if you want something quick, yummy, and that won't break the bank.

I could give this place 5 stars just for the bread alone!!! Thankfully there are other great aspects to it: local, fresh, affordable and delicious! My favorite kind of place to eat when traveling (locals favorite spots). We had the chicken Teri sandwich and I admit I wasn't excited to try because i was imagining subway, but this is NO subway, it's amazing! Softest, most perfect sub loaf I've ever had. Teriyaki was very tasty and had that homemade taste you just can't get at bigger delis. I will definitely be back to try more! Also read a great tip to order sandwiches for the plane.

We were referred to try No Ka Oi Deli by a local we met while on our honeymoon in Maui. It was the best recommendation we got, and we ended up going back multiple times during our stay. The sandwiches are HUGE and can easily be shared, and the bread they use is the most delicious bread I've ever tasted. Everything was super fresh, too. However, the real winner was the teriyaki chicken plate lunch. Hands down the best plate lunch we had during our 2 week stay in Hawaii (and trust me, we had a lot of plate lunch/dinners). The chicken melted in your mouth, and the macaroni salad was pretty awesome as well. I'm sad we're back on the mainland and can't return for the foreseeable future!

Awesome sandwiches. I really really enjoyed this place and am a bit sad we only ate here once on our honeymoon.

This place is great. The sandwiches are as good as you can get. The ingredients are all fresh and really good. The tuna is the best on Maui. White albacore and done perfectly. The chicken salad is great. The BLT is generous with bacon and the best I have ever had. Pretty much anything on their menu is good. The owners, are great. Whenever I have company in town, I order a selection of sandwiches and ask Laurie to cut them in fourths. It's always a big hit. In fact, most times I am asked if the sandwiches are available to take back with them to eat on the plane. They are and they will wrap them special for the plane. My goal is to try everything on the menu. Something I might have already accomplished if I didn't have certain favorites I continue to order. If you try No Ka Oi Deli, you'll be happy you did. I only have one problem with this place. I wish they were open later. However, the limited hours keep it special.

The Teri chicken was amazing!!! Giving 4 stars instead of 5 only because the menu is limited. Other than that, it's worth the trip!!

You can find yourself spending a lot of money eating out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. To ease the wallet, No Ka Oi Deli serves some decently sized sandwiches, teriyaki platters, saimin and salads at affordable prices. Although the ingredients are all fairly basic, they also provide pictures of all their dishes to help those curious how they are prepared. I ordered the Kapalua Club ($6.50) which includes Turkey Breast, Ham, Bacon and cheese (Provolone, Swiss, American, etc.) along with sides (lettuce, onions, mayo, and mustard) that are complimentary. The sandwich is pretty sizable at about 8" long with a basic yet healthy portion of turkey breast, ham, and extra crispy bacon. I found the bread to be slightly mushy at some places (probably because of the mayo) but overall had fresh ingredients and was pretty good. A pencil-sized slice of a pickle is also included on the side. I also tried the Teriyaki Chicken Plate ($6.50) which includes 2 scoops of rice, 1 scoop of potato crab salad or tossed green salad. The 2 pieces of chicken thighs were well-marinated with a delicious teriyaki sauce making the skin and meat quite tasty, although I found the meat to be overcooked and too chewy at some parts. The rice is prepared on the every so slightly mushy side (I prefer my rice to be on the slightly firm and drier side). The potato crab salad was served at room temperature which I found a bit odd since I believe it was mayo-based. It tasted more like a pasta with slices of black olives than crabmeat (I was advised to not eat the potato salad because it was warm and something seemed a bit off. Advice that I did not take, to which I later got sick from.) A few tidbits to add: Store hours are very short as they are only open 10 AM to 2 PM on weekdays. Cash only. Bring extra change for tax.

Best sandwiches in Lahaina. The bread is nice and soft and I like their different combinations. Also tried their Caesar salad and was pleasantly surprised at the tasty dressing. They are very busy...a testimony to how much locals love them. Service was great despite the crush of orders. They also do catering and their roast pork is phenomenal. I can't wait to order their plate lunch next time.

Hours 10 - 3PM. Local! Local! Local! Folks over at ululani's recommended as where locals go. It was great. Subs were great. The imitation sub I wouldn't order again. The biggest surprise was the dry siamin, it was delicious and a great price to boot. The bread for the sub was fresh. The portion for the siamin was bountiful. Only $4.25.

Went out of our way to walk to this deli based on the yelp reviews and recommendation in Maui Revealed. It kinda looked cool from the outside as it is part of an old motel separated into restaurants and shops instead of seedy rooms. Going here was a BAD IDEA. Service was friendly, but what good is service with a smile if the food sucks? Recommend: Not walking all the way over here for the food. Avoid: The imitation crab sandwich (bland and very bread-y with wilted green lettuceinside) and the teriyaki plate with potato-crab salad (feathery skin on the fatty chicken, unimpressive sauce and WARM salad - ew!) Avoid AT ALL COSTS: The bread pudding. We took one bite and nearly spit it back out. Dense, chewy, and totally gross. I would've paid NOT to eat here. Sorry No Ka Oi, the price of your food reflects the poor quality of it and I will NEVER be back.

No Ka Oi Deli is a local hot spot that executes a sandwich better than most and with a smile. I found No Ka Oi via Yelp when I was in Maui for a wedding. I loaded up on 10 of their sandwiches for the women in the wedding party and brought them back to their hotel. They loved them, so when I was back in town three months later, I had to make the trip again to feed my extended family, and everyone was happy again. (In a note about the importance of the personal experience, the owner recognized me from my previous visit and asked how the wedding went. Amazing customer treatment and service.) Since they make all the sandwiches to order, you can customize the heck out of them. Importantly, they use good ingredients, too. So skip the Subway just up the street and head over to No Ka Oi Deli. Readers of my reviews know I always have a preference for independently owned shops, and No Ka Oi fits the bill. Articles on the wall feature a story about the owners, and both times the owner has been behind the counter working away on my order. These owners are literally putting the life and money into this venture and they have been succeeding year after year. The 12 inch sandwiches are in the $7 - $8 range, but they also offer burgers and mix plates. The sandwich bread is quality, meat is good, and if you want them, they use sprouts on the sandwich (one of my favorites). I have tried at least three of their different sandwiches, and every one has been great. Eating lunch at the resorts can be expensive, and sometimes Loco Moco won't cut it for the less adventurous. In these cases or when you simply need a quick meal to go and don't want fast food, stop at No Ka Oi. You will find a a great meal at a good price and you will likely get to meet the owner and feel even better about handing over your 8 bucks for lunch.

Great local deli... The waitress at Outback told us about it. The veggie and turkey subs were very good and very fresh. The inside is very small; only about 5 people at a time can fit. It's definitely a take-out place. The only problem.... The long line. Too many people like it!

By far, one of my favorite plate lunch/sandwich shop in Lahaina. Good home cooked food and the service is awesome. As you enter into the deli, you are greeted by owners, Laurie or Alton. The plate lunch specials are reasonably priced and "just enough" that you don't end up having "food paralysis" for the rest of the day. I recommend the beef teriyaki sandwich or any plate lunch. One of the previous reviews regarding the macaroni crab salad was that it was warm. Well if it is next to a warm meal in a takeout container, it will be warm. But it is safe to eat unless you leave it in the container sitting for 30 minutes or so. Seriously, I've eaten the salad and have never been sick. Also, notice who comes to the restaurant, steady flow of locals. If the locals keep coming back and it is always busy, then obviously the food is good.

Great place for a cheap lunch. Sandwiches of all kinds as well as salads. Everything made fresh. We got our meal and went to the beach to eat. They have tables outside their door if you prefer. I had the crab salad sandwich which was great. Very friendly staff.

Not bad. I had the french dip for lunch. My partner had the turkey club. The bread is a puffy Hawaiian roll but it was not sweet but very fresh. Each sandwich was about 7.50. Both were good. Service was not fancy but was efficient. Good was large. Run by locals. Check it out. Much better than any crappy fast food place -- like mickey d's across the street.

We stumbled upon and were impressed by this local deli. Ordered the chicken salad sandwhich which was prepared immediately, very fresh & tasty on a white sweet roll. Also ordered the teriyaki chicken plate which was good but took a little longer to arrive. The POG (passion-orange-guava) slushy was pretty good. If you're looking for a quick bite at a local deli, check it out!
