An excellent coffee shop! We were staying at the Valley Isle, just down the road, and thought we'd give Hawaiian Village a try since it was such a short walk. Really good coffee, including the best Chai Latte and the best Iced Mocha I've had to date. Prices are average; just under the Starbucks threshold. All the staff are very friendly, and there are many repeat customers that live/work nearby (sure sign of a good business). In my opinion, the coffee and beverages here are of higher quality than most Starbucks locations (and I'm a fan of Starbucks). I also noticed their selection of Kombucha on tap, which I'll be sure to try on my next visit to Maui and Hawaiian Village. Parking is excellent, and it's also within walking distance of many Kahana-area hotels & condos. Only negative I can think of is that there can be a 10+ minute wait at peak times, but that's true with any good coffee shop. There are some tasteful souvenirs available, as well. I'll be back for sure!

Cute little cafe. Coffee was decent, mine was lukewarm and my husband's tasted a tad burnt. His blueberry muffin was a bit stale but my breakfast croissant was delicious. Service was so-so...overall an average experience for us.

This is my favorite part of the day! The gals and owner are super friendly and nice. I love love love a Coffee Frap with the smootie mix or low fat frap! Way better than starbucks. I also just switched to decaf and the flavor is even better. Best little hideaway with cool music and vibe. Thank you for always taking care of me!

Visiting Maui for my wedding and needed coffee! The coffee is pretty dang good! I was very impressed with the breakfast nice and hot and visually appealing! not sloppy at all like other coffee shops I've been too! Everything was very good!! We have the veggie bagel add bacon lol Spicy turkey panini, breakfast croissant bacon and egg. So good!

Great cold brew coffee, good iced espresso. Lox bagel is incredible but you pay a pretty penny for it.

  • Phuong T.

This has been my go-to coffee shop when I am in Maui. The servers are super nice and always make sure you leave happy. I only drink the espresso so I can say they use a lovely Maui bean so it tastes ono. hehehe. They also have this macnut bread that tastes like heaven just landed in my hand and mouth. Yum

No parking problems. This is in a strip mall. Order at the counter. Great coffee! They advertised a variety of syrups. The first 2 were unavailable and third time lucky. Service was quick. A huge selection of jewelry for sale. I liked the fact that they support local artists. You could order bagels but other than that, it's not a major food place. They offer some yummy muffins and cookies (giant sized too). Didn't try it but will be back.

  • Jonathan C.

Great coffee shop!! They can make pretty much anything and you get the Maui vibe! The use Maui coffee beans and you can buy bags of the Beans as well! Definitely recommend!

  • Kimberly W.

I lovee coffee and the iced macadamia nut latte here is delightful. You know its a place that the locals love too because the barista knew the name and drink of choice of the customer behind me. Definitely a place i would come back to.

GREAT local spot by Kahana beach, behind the McD's (ewwww, McD's....) Came here twice for breakfast to start our days off on the right foot. DEEEEElicious coffee! And i'm not really a coffee drinker.. one day was hazelnut and the next day was coconut! ONO! The breakfast sandwiches with organic egg take a while (but worth the wait!), and the bagels come out pretty fast..fyi. Nice girls working there too. Just a quick stop and then we were on our way to see some amazing Maui views! Mahalo Hawaiian Village Coffee, we will be back next time we're on island. :)

  • Andrea J.

Absolutely love this place. I get my daily coffee fix from here. Apart from great coffee, there are some deli/bakery style products you can snack on while you enjoy your coffee. The employees are very nice, friendly and will send you off with some aloha spirit to go with your cup of deliciousness.

  • Jessica W.

We visited several times during our stay and even bought coffee to bring home with us. The baristas are friendly and who wants to go to a Starbucks when on vacation? Not me! Check out this local joint if you are in the area.

LOVE THIS PLACE! The best coffee on Maui (and I got around trying different places). Who'd know this unassuming strip mall coffee place would be so good. Not only is there lattes the best on the Island, the staff are authentically friendly and the atmosphere funky. The art of Maui nature on the walls is the cherry on top. Wish I was close to it my whole vacation:).

    (5)
  • Kelly P.

Cute place and nice people. This is the second time I've come by two different trips to the island and adjacent Maui brew co. Tasty coffee and I heard the coffee rub is popular.

    (4)
  • Garrett F.

Average coffee spot. Their egg nogg latteé did not have enough egg nog. The peanut butter cookie was ok. I also ordered a coconut choc chip bar that was good but not memorable. I recommend Bad Ass coffee over this place.

  • Sandy L.

Bagels tasted previously frozen and stale. The Kona blend tasted like flavored coffee. Would not recommend this place!

  • Lisa N.

We found this place by chance. We went to the Mcdonalds that is out in front of the store early one morning. We noticed a little shop in the strip center. We were met by a few people going in and out of this coffee shop. Its a bit more than a coffee shop. The owner was there working hard. We had the crossant with bacon egg and cheese. It was so good. We ended up going back 3 times. Ask about the mushroom drink. Coffee was excellent!!!

  • Kau'ila P.

This is an excellent coffee shop for those who want relaxed atmosphere and real coffee shop atmosphere. Mocha was quite good, and the dark roast coffee I had was properly roasted and a good cup. Wide selection of pastries and other eatables. And wifi, AND plugs to charge things. Overall, I'll pick this place above any other I've been on Maui.

    (4)
  • Jeff C.

We came here for the local flavor and the expresso frappe. Kinda guilty for eating ice cream at 9AM but we're on vacation. Definitely a local hangout and a non-Starbucks experience. The frappe was very sweet and strong coffee flavors. Very fast in-and-out experience if you're on the way to your next stop on the vacation

  • P B.

Found this spot our last day in maui. Great coffee and a very good mocha. Descent light breakfast items and price is not bad. Wish I would have found it sooner!

    (4)
  • Jerra P.

The mocha was just okay and not very hot. The staff is not really friendly at all. It was so uncomfortable that we actually drove 10-15 minutes away for our coffee even though this place was around the corner from our condo. Apparently they allow dogs inside as well. The place seemed popular despite our experience. I'm not sure I'd give it another try though.

    (2)
  • Sam F.

I wish I knew sooner about this place! Almost always I come all the way to Kahana just to get my hands on their killer chai! BEST.CHAI.LATTE.ON.THE.ISLAND! Even their dirty chai! It's a friendly atmosphere and the barista always chit chats a bit , makes you feel at home. Love this coffee place!

  • Howard E.

Felt compelled to write this review as I sit here outside Hawaiian Village Coffee (HVC) sipping my french press 100% Maui Peaberry coffee. This is actually the second stop here today. First time I had a iced Americano using an expresso blend (roasted specifically for HVC) on the way to Napili beach. It was so good that I had to come back to buy coffee beans on the way back. The owner was great explaining the differences between the various coffee beans. I decided on the Maui Peaberry after tasting the coffee. Will definitely come back the next time I'm in Maui!

  • J L.

We were staying at a condo down the street so I decided to check out this little coffee shop for our morning fix. I visited twice; on both visits, I ordered my wife a latte, while I got a mocha breve on my first visit, and a light roast on my second. Cofee itself was much better than Bad Ass Coffee (in my opinion). For breakfast, we tried the croissant breakfast sandwiches w/ the organic egg, as well as the energy ball. The breakfast sandwiches were great though a tad on the expensive side (I want to say that it was close to $7/sandwich). The energy ball, however, was a tad too salty for my liking. In addition to tourists like myself, it seemed as if a lot of locals also frequented this place. The service itself was very friendly, and I would definitely recommend this place if you are staying in the area.

    (4)
  • Jordan P.

This place is great for an amazing start to your morning. The service is fast anf friendly. The options are varied and local. They have everything from bagels and doughnuts to breakfast sandwiches and eggsnto icecream and energy balls! My usual is a black coffee in a mug and a banana. Im broke and boring. But for those of you that aren't there are more than enough choices. VIBE IS KILLER, TOO. 5 STARS Y'ALL

    (5)
  • Rox G.

Make the walk across the lot from McDonald's. the coffees great, and they've got a delicious breakfast croissant sandwich! The service was so friendly, and the authentic coffee beans they were serving were also quite good. It's great to pick up souveniers too.

  • Caitlyn F.

Hawaii village coffee is one of my favorite places on Maui for sure! Their toddy coffee and green ice tea is my fav. The staff is friendly and some of them know what I want to order before I even say it haha love this place :)

    (5)
  • Rachel F.

Awesome coffee, bagels, snacks AND PEOPLE!! My fav morning here was an iced thai espresso, custom veggie bagel (mine was hummus, sliced tomato, cucumber, sprouts & capers on an olive oil, rosemary bagel ....omg yummmm) and an energy ball to go since we were headed out to Hana. All amazing, all made & served with a smile. Go here... Now ! :)

  • Brian S.

Decent Independent Coffee Shop the Barista accepted my request for coffee with a shot of chocolate syrup only half blinking her eyes. The place is kind of busy they sell lots of little tourists items on there self space. my only real concern the shop does not have in-store restroom, Overall A OK Visit

  • Paul J.

We were staying at the Sands of Kahana and needed to print our boarding passes for the flight home but the resort's business center was down due to remodeling. They recommended we go to Hawaiian Village Coffee because they had PCs and a printer. WOW! Not only was the breakfast croissant and coffee great, these girls were all about customer service. In the middle of a morning rush, they went to check the printer without me asking to insure our passes were printed out and they only charged me for the prints, not the internet time. Next time we are in Maui, we will stop in just for the Aloha!!

    (5)
  • yum e.

Coffee was ok, nothing to go out of the way for. A bit too light and sweet for my taste buds. However the ham and egg croissant was very delicious. Neat part of town, lots of surfers stopping through.

Visit this AMAZING coffee shop EVERY DAY!! The service is so friendly and so exceptional! The coffees are AWESOME! And the ENERGY BALLS are to murder for!! We have been here every day of vacation and this is one of the places we will definitely miss and never forget! Thank you SO MUCH everyone for making us feel so local and appreciated, you're all great! PS, thank you especially for all your great vegan options!!

Great coffee. If you enjoy real coffee vs the green straw factory well then you will love this place. I like their Kona blend.

  • Rhondi S.

Husband needed his coffee/caffeine fix while on Maui, no Starbucks on the West side, so we came here. Fresh local baked goods and ice cream, refrigerated sandwiches (we didn't try any, looked scary). Coffee was good, so says hubby. Sis and I got the chai tea latte with soy milk. Mine tasted sour, so I threw mine away. Sis finished hers and had a tummy ache the rest of the day...so I suggest don't get anything with soy milk!

    (3)
  • Molly R.

This place has the most awesome shakes in the island! They use the local ice cream - Roselani - and they use generous amounts so they come out really creamy and good. Coffee also great! Most of all customer service is consistently awesome. A great way to start or end your day at the beach. Special shout out to Adam - who gives the best service and makes the best. shakes! Thank you Hawaiian Village Coffee! You always make our trip!

Delicous dirty Chai Latte. Goes even better with one of their chocolate cupcakes or gigantic chocolate donuts. Yum!!

  • debbie l.

Best coffee on Maui. Killer coffee and wonderful breakfast items. We came here just about every morning for a great cup of coffee and a breakfast croissant or other breakfast goodie. Friendly staff! Try it you won't be able to resist coming back every day! One of my favorite places around Kaanapali.

  • David T.

Came here after getting something to eat. My fiancée got a ice coffee. She liked it. The girl who worked there today Monday at 4 pm on Memorial Day was very nice. We had a few minute chat with her. When we left we realized my fiancée left her phone at the shop. We called and the girl who was working there had it with her. Thank you very much!!

  • Elle G.

If you want a great cup of coffee this is the spot. Don't waste your time with other spots. Frankly makes Starbucks and the rest look like amateurs. Kona, of course, if you even had to ask.....

    (5)
  • Susan W.

Love this little coffee shop! Excellent coffee, and they make the best cappuccinos.

    (5)
  • Taz G.

We come here every morning when we are staying in Maui. The employees and the owner are just the friendliest people. They know what we want by the second day we don't even have to tell them. Great atmosphere inside and you can use the wifi while you are there. Awesome place!

    (5)
  • Pam L.

I can't drink mr. Coffee so I purposely scoped out this spot to grab coffee after my walk every morning. They are great-already knew my coffee order after 2 stops in, and this morning made it while I was in line! Friendly, fun music, great vibe and great coffee.

    (5)
  • Ben Y.

I asked for bathroom, employee sent me to the public bathroom in the back of building without giving me the key, I consider this as part of service which was bad. Didn't even try their coffee because how can it be good when there's no service? I end up went to McDonald's bathroom across the street and had their coffee which is always good!

    (1)
  • Gina C.

Simply amazing! Only our second time & their kick ass barista remembered us & our drinks. Coffee is important to those of us from WA. So glad this is right next to our hotel. Out of all the places we've had espresso in Maui in our trips here, this is the best. Heads down.

    (5)
  • Adriana F.

This is my go-to coffee shop. They make the best cappuccinos and the staff is always very friendly. They have good sticky buns especially when warmed up. Rosemary bagel is also delicious.

    (5)
  • Shannon W.

I come here every time I visit Maui. The owner and staff are always so friendly and the coffee and food is always great. Forgot all the chain coffee shops, this is the best place. This is a local spot mixed with some tourists. I love this place and highly recommend it.

  • Ken C.

Great coffee, excellent service and super friendy crew, on our 3rd day they queued up our orders as soon as we walked in the door, thanks guys and gals we'll DEFINITELY be back during our next trip!!

    (5)
  • Emily M.

These guys are super awesome - we were idiots and bought whole bean coffee at a different store and realized later that our condo did not have a grinder. We visited HVC (which is right up the road from the condo, while the other coffee store was back in Kahului) and asked them if they could grind it for us (and we also bought some of their coffee and some drinks - we weren't trying to freeload). They ground it for us without batting an eye. They seemed confused why we would think that they wouldn't do that for us. Cool people - go buy some coffee from them! :)

    (5)
  • S T.

Great coffee and friendly staff. This is a locals place and they were all very friendly. We went many times and we're never disappointed. Give it a try.

  • Elizabeth B.

Great morning coffee. Service is great... coffee is fantastic! I bought some of their maui grown coffee and it is as good as it gets.

    (5)
  • S. M.

We first noticed this place because they have ice cream. After our first visit we return every time we stay on Maui - it's the best ice cream, smoothies and floats anywhere on the island! Also really enjoy the island atmosphere inside but usually eat outside. I purchased a beautiful set of notecards to give as a thank you to our pet-sitter. Great customer service. Anyone going to West Maui must go to Hawaiian Village Coffee!

  • Delaine H.

The 3 mornings I've taken my 3 mile walk, I always stop here for coffee! The coconut coffee was great, topped with a Kalua blend, but the coconut alone is very tasty. The 2nd day I stopped by though, the guy kept my change. (50 cents) which wasn't a big deal, bc the day before I put it in the tip jar, but he didn't even give it back to me. Little odd.

    (3)
  • Brandi L.

Awesome banana ice cream! The coffee is pretty great too. Great find on our vacation.

The World According to Noelle Allergic Girl's Guide to Life --------------------------------------------- Maui Honeymoon Review Series --------------------------------------------- Dearest (Coffee), Do you know how much in love with you I am? Did I trip? Did I stumble - lose my balance, graze my knee, graze my heart? I know I'm in love when I see you. I know when I long to see you, I'm on fire. Not a muscle has moved. Leaves hang unruffled by any breeze. The air is still. I have fallen in love without taking a step. You are all wrong for me and I know it, but I can no longer care for my thoughts unless they are thoughts of you. When I am close to you, I feel your hair brush my cheek when it does not. I look away from you sometimes, then I look back. When I tie my shoes, when I peel an orange, when I drive my car, when I lie down each night without you, I remain, Yours. (The above is from the movie "The Love Letter.") ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hawaiian Village Coffee brews a mean 'Cup of Joe.' After going to the Maui Dive Shop my hubby and I came here for some coffee. I got an iced coffee (served black) with a shot of vanilla and cream. It was the best iced coffee I've had in a long time :) You could really taste the delicious brew of the coffee beans. We also picked up 100% Kona Coffee for my parents. They have pastries but they looked a little on the tired side (despite the fact we were there early). Friendly customer service, uber relaxed ambiance. Noelle's Notes Looking forward to coming back in 2011!

Once you've finished boozing it up at Maui Brewing, be sure to come down here to sober up. Be sure to get some beans to take home (whether you're a visitor or local). I recommend the Maui Peaberry--it was delicious and perfectly roasted.

This coffee shop is located in the same shopping center as Roy's in the Kahana area just south of Kapalua. There is a Maui Dive Shop nearby and a McDonald's at the corner of the shopping center. We met up with my sister and her boyfriend here for coffee mornings. This coffee shop serves various coffee drinks, both hot and cold, baked goods and souvenirs (wood cared items, post cards, etc.). The coffee on each visit was simply delicious as were the baked goods. My favorite baked item was a honey nut scone. There are computers for a fee (four) and several small tables inside as well as a couple of small tables outside the shop. Both locals and tourists alike drop by this coffee shop. The service is friendly and quick and the coffee shop is clean. On our next visit to Maui, we're definitely going back to our fave local coffee shop ~ Hawaiian Village Coffee!

  • Rachel F.

I loved this place! My boyfriend and I were vacationing at the hotel right across the street. And being a coffee junkie, i had to have my good, non-hotel coffee every day. I was so pleased to find this place so close. The service here is excellent, and the coffee is great. We were here every day. I even bought one of their coffee mugs as a souvenir :)

Good mocha. Great service. Cool vibe.

  • Cath M.

Came here to get a quick bite (was starving) but ended up just getting a large iced soy mocha plus their chocolate muffin (yup, chocolate overload indeed!) The coffee was strong and I didn't have to put sugar, so that's always a good thing for me. Muffin was good as well -- the top was burnt purposely so it was crispy (not sure if I'm describing it right...) but it was good. It's a coffee/internet cafe (didn't check out how much it cost but they had MACs so it wasn't that bad.) PS: yup... location is where Maui Brewing Co. and the icon that you should look for is McDonald's at the corner.

  • Deb G.

Cutest little coffee shop! Hands down the best iced coffee I've ever tasted. Skip Starbucks and find Hawaiian Village Coffee, you won't be disappointed!!!

    (5)
  • Alice O.

They have bagel sandwiches with lox! Hooray!

    (5)
  • K S.

Well, we all know Maui is expensive. This coffee shop is locally owned (a plus in my book), has a fantastic staff, and good ears. Breakfast costs under $15 for two, which is less than most places we found. Have a nice selection of sandwiches, and some vegan stuffs, too! Our go to breakfast while we are here. And sometimes lunch, now that we have a cooler. :)

  • Patrick S.

THIS is where I have had the best coffee in my life!!!! Experienced it two years ago and confirmed it again last week. I stay a t the Royal Lahaina for work an this place is up the street.....has there even been a bad review of this place??????

  • Michael K.

This coffee shop/internet cafe was right across the road from the condo where I was staying. It's a great little place. Owner David and his staff are very friendly. There's a comprehensive menu of coffee drinks and pastries with which to start your day. I had espresso brewed from a French roast Kona blend that was very smooth--no bitterness at all. There are five PC's which run Mac OS X. They bill you for online access by the minute with no minimum. I was online, checking my email, posting to Yelp, etc., for quite awhile, and, including a double-shot of espresso, I was pleasantly surprised that they only charged me $5 total. They also have a lending library of recycled books that are free for the taking. I thought that was cool, so I donated the copy of Keith Richards' autobiography that I had finished reading on the airplane.

Wonderful coffee shop!! They have great coffee and offer a number of different sandwiches (love the chicken/grape pita), muffins, and more. The baristas are super friendly, too!

Loved the coffee here. Also had a Turkey, Bacon, Ranch wrap that was delicious. The atmosphere is cool, too!

  • Adri A.

I liked this place a bit more than maui grown coffee but maybe thats because i like more syrups to choose from and friendly service... i had the regular iced coffee and asked for one pump each of Mac nut and Coconut syrup and nonfat milk YUMMY!!!!!! much better than any starbucks you will ever go to for an iced coffee!! try it and you will love it!!!!

  • Albert H.

Located in the strip mall that has Maui Brewing Co. (beer). This coffee shop has fairly good coffee with good service, a few comfortable seats and sofa, as well as a few computers set up for internet service. Nice little spot for recharging your batteries, and makes a great place to kill time until the brewery opens up just a few doors down for late morning beers!

    (4)
  • Robin K.

Best dang coffee I ever had. I come here as often as I can. Easily better than any others in the area.

    (5)
  • Josh H.

Decent coffee. The barista was knowledgeable and friendly and was happy to make me a drink for my wife that wasn't on the menu. I had a macchiato which was well made. The espresso itself was a little too darkly roasted for my tastes, but overall it was a pleasant experience. If you're looking for more of a "Third Wave" type coffee place, this wouldn't exactly fit the bill.

  • John T.

YAY for Hawaiian Village Coffee! You guys are so great! Always there when I need you. Staff is super warm and friendly. Great great great coffee. They have free wi-fi, or computers to use if you dont have your laptop. I used to take mine in there and sit for hours paying my bills. They dont even mind, everyone there is super cool. They have croissant sandwiches and ice cream and muffins too! I will always support this place over the monster starbucks chains.

This place is awesome! Their coffees are great, and the staff is super friendly. We had a coffee drink made with vanilla ice cream, and it was a creamy delight with their coffee. Stop by here and enjoy some local happiness!

  • Evan M.

I like this place better than Bad Ass Coffee on the Lower road, but did not find it until the end of our trip. They opened as six on Saturday and the Americano was delightful. Tasty straight and not too harsh. Support the local shops. This place should be your choice.

    (5)
  • Mr. Robot O.

Ordered a triple-tall, nonfat mocha. It was pretty good. Lots of antique Hawaiian memorabilia decorating the shop, which is nice. They had a Primo beer sign hanging up behind the counter, but I don't know if they actually sell any or not. Shit, I don't even know if they make that stuff anymore. Pri-mo-beer, comes-from-here...

  • Gary N.

Great mocha frappes and my wife really enjoyed her coffee. Have been back twice while on Maui

  • Octavio L.

fun little coffee shop, really well made drinks, i had a cappuchino, my wife had a drip. She really liked the drip coffee and so did i. This place is stuffed with computers and memorabilia and a big screen. Pretty nice place and the guy who works here was helpful.

    (4)
  • Jen M.

HALLELUJIAH! I found a local coffee shop. I always try and support the local business when I travel so I was shocked and disappointed to find that Starbucks had run most of the local coffee places out of business. To me, not finding a coffee shop in Hawaii is like going to Chinatown and not finding Chinese food. Anyway--this place is GREAT!!!! The coffee is top-notch delicious (no bitterness like Starbucks) and the guy who works there is very cool. They sell some very cool t-shirts, too. They also have computers to use and a plasma screen in there if you want to catch the morning news (or morning-after football scores like I did...)
