My 3 year old son and I went there for breakfast and it was wonderful! My son had 3 orders of bacon! I usually like my bacon soft but their bacon was extra crispy and thin which made it really good! I am from Honolulu and I am used to the fast life here but if I could move to the Big Island I would in a heart beat! The restaurant is a laid back place where the locals come to have coffee and the people that work there know your name, if you live there. I love this restaurant for its laid back style and food! Thanks CSC for making our vacation wonderful!

I've seen all the comments about this place and they must be talking about some other restaurant.... csc is over priced for the kind of food they serve.. read k.k post.. that's the truth.. the menu is huge and the food quality is poor.. if u read this drive past csc cafe and go to figs or minis, I guess the owners forgot wat good food is... and as for the seeing alot of people at the place it's cause they're having coffee and watching tv... the owner's r nice people but I myself would drive 40 min. Away to get good food at a fare price...

On our recent trip to the Big Island, the CSC Cafe was our biggest surprise find. We rented a home nearby for a week and were scouting out where the locals eat. There are no tourists here, but we felt totally welcome. They are open early for breakfast, and I stopped almost every morning for a breakfast sandwich with fried spam (yum, only in HI!) and the crispest hash browns ever. We grabbed dinner to go here several nights. The menu is huge. The plate lunches, fried chicken, chili dogs, nachos, the Reuben, all delicious. If you are looking for elegance, this isn;'t your place. But by the third day they asked if I wanted "my usual," and joked with us like we were locals. Highly recommend. And oh by the way--10 times better and half the price of food in the tourist joints.

Outside of Yelp, the best way to find gems is looking for establishments where there is a congregation of people. This is how we found cSc Cafe. Driving through sleepy North Kohala Coast one morning, we noticed this place because of the number of cars parked in the front. When we investigated, we found just the place that serves simple, comfort, local cuisine. No tourists (other than us) here - all locals. On the menu, you will find breakfast items (Open daily 6A - 9P) to sandwiches/hamburgers to plate lunches to salads. Basically, they do it all. Because we had already had breakfast, all we sampled were their musubi rolls which were made to order. One taste and we knew they serve the real deal. Glancing through the menu, items that caught my attention were the loco moco, beef stew, curries, katsu, and saimin. The fried and Korean chicken also appear to be one of their specialties. Word of caution, the restaurant fronts Honomakau Street so it's not totally visible from Hwy 270.

I was trying to find a place for an early breakfast. This and the coffee place was open in the area. Got the big bowl of fried rice. It was too much for me to finish. Unless you're really hungry go with the small.

The food was really good, but the price was the best part. It is hard to find anywhere in Hawaii that would be $ or even $$ in price, but this place does it! We had breakfast here before a tour that checked in in Hawi (Big island eco adventures zipline tour). Simple food, great service, even better price.

We stopped in to eat at CSC cafe. The food was very good. I had a mix plate of Korean chicken drum lets and beef curry and my husband had Kali rib plate. The staff was welcoming and the environment was laid back. If you are looking for a spot that doesn't have too many tourists, this is the perfect local eatery.

We are firm believers in following the locals to find great spots to eat. And this time? All the local cars parked out front (including a bunch of nice men watching TV outside) did not disappoint. Jaime helped us order at the counter. Mom ordered the fried rice wt chicken (which was pretty good) and my husband had the steak & eggs (also pretty good). But what was GREAT? The Korean chicken. Owner's family recipe. Holy amazingness. Huge kudos to Jaime for the suggestion. I ordered the "mini" plate wt three pieces and grudgingly shared. Next time? I am going whole hog and ordering a proper lunch plate for 6 pieces of the most succulent, savory, sesame flavored fried chicken.

Excellent stop. Fresh food friendly people greet you with a smile and everything taste great. Can't ask for anything more this far away from everything.

The first thing I noticed was that menu took up almost two walls. It took me almost 10 min alone to look at everything. For some, a large menu is a good thing but to me it said they were ok at everything but not great at any one thing. I ordered a pizza that cost me over $15. It took forever to make, which sounds like they made it fresh but the sauce was bland and the dough was under done. I'm sure it's a good place to stop for a snack but I just didn't have a good experience.

Breakfast of champions! This local place was a bit of a trek coming from muana lani but worth it. Where else can you find a loco moco omelet or a fried rice omelet? The owner was super cool and reminded me of a an old friend. The out door eating patio was filled with local folk and we felt right at home at this establishment. If you're looking for a great new breakfast spot this is da place!

Underwhelming plate lunch with tiny portions and little quality. Salad was ok. Used to like this spot when it was Soda Fountain. I'll pass now.
