Very casual atmosphere with decent food. Very basic breakfast buffet but they are very flexible with requests. Decent pricing, $9.95 for breakfast buffet on weekdays. This is my 2nd time back and not regretting it. French toast plate comes with sweet whip cream and bacon!!! Yum!

Could be a diamond in the rough, I know, I helped them for a bit in their kitchen but never rely engaged. If they fix service always and food timing etc, quality ,...this place can be so sweet for Kauai Aloha Chef Pete

I know it's Hawaii but service was extremely slow for only having a couple other people there. The waitress got our order wrong so we all didn't eat together. The eggs bene was bland despite other reviews saying it's the best. Eh not sure we will come back.

We wanted a local eatery for breakfast and Birdie's was recommended as off the beaten path with good food. Hubby and I both had the eggs Benedict - very good- as were the rosemary red potatoes. A side of fruit was a big plate of fresh pineapple and previously frozen mixed berries. The coffee was good and mellow, as was our service. No, they won't beat any speed records getting the food to you, (it's Hawaii, so no rush, Brah) but they gave us free muffins and a little chit chat to pass the time. And you can't beat the view! Sitting on the parking lot side, you get a beautiful coast/ocean view as you dine.

Great band and great food! Unbelievably reasonably priced. One of the best events on the island! Do not miss Saturday's from 3pm to 6pm - pre-order the Clam Bake and reserve a table the day before. You will thank me!

Just Okay. We went on a Saturday morning at around 7:45. A nice man came around the tables and gave us some lilikoi malasadas. There was only one other table with about 6 people, and it looked like they'd been nursing their bloody Mary's for awhile. Our waitress took our order within 5 minutes, but that's where the quickness stopped and the waiting began. 45 minutes later, our food came. It took us and the table with the 6 guys about 7 minutes to eat our food. By then the place was filling up, but our waitress had already brought our check when we weren't even halfway done with our meal! The food- husband had a $9 omelette with mushrooms and tomatoes and roasted potatoes. I had the $12.95 eggs benedict. He said his food was okay. Mine's, well it was just okay. The view to the ocean is beautiful, it is a very casual place. This is the first time I've been here since they reopened under new ownership. My husband has been here before and the most memorable thing for him was how long they waited for their lunch last time.

I use to live in Kalaheo and had the opportunity to watch this magical cafe open and blossom into something very special over a period of a year and a half. As of June 2014, Birdies is now a very established venue on the south side. I no longer live on Kauai but would never miss an opportunity to stop in at Birdies on a Sunday afternoon to listen to live music and sip on a glass of wine or iced latte! Their Sunday afternoon live performances are eclectic and inspiring and may include violin, piano, jazz fusion and vocals. The cafe ambiance offers sweeping ocean view, pleasant breeze and comfy chairs to relax and enjoy the company of friends. The owner, Ron Horoshko, is also an artist, writer and actor and his creative flair is reflected throughout the cafe. Last but not least, don't miss the breakfast menu (available until 11:30). Birdies has the best Eggs Benedict on the island and my kids loved Birdies' light fluffy pancakes with fresh fruit and maple syrup! Like another reviewer stated -- this cafe makes me feel happy!!!

This place is a hidden gem. Good food and prices are reasonable. I ordered French Toast with berries and link sausages called "British Open." $8. It was tasty and the portion was perfect. If you are a big eater, it might be small. Ocean view from the top of Kukuiolono Golf course. Nice and cozy. I'll definitely come back here for breakfast.

Came here for breakfast with my sis and her boyfriend. I've heard rave reviews about this place (which is hidden at the top of Kukuiolono Golf Course) from people so I thought why not. We got there around 8:30am and it was empty. When we walked in there was no one around so it was a little weird. Then after a few minutes a guy walks out and tells us to choose where ever we wanted to sit and offered us coffee. So we sat and looked at the menu (everything $7.95) but there was only like 5 different choices. I ended up going with the Loco Moco. The cook was late so we had to wait an additional couple of minutes for our food. When our food did come out though it looked pretty good. I got an extra egg and free toast so I was happy. The burger was fresh and there was lots of gravy which makes me happy. The owner was apologetic and made up for the cook's tardiness so all ended up well. According to my sister it changed so maybe they're just going through a transition period. Oh well. It was nice though because it was open and the view out the window was relaxing. I'd go back again.

Went here for a late (11am) breakfast a few days ago on our last full day on honeymoon in Kauai. We were the only ones in the place (note though that this is a restaurant at the golf course), but that was fine with me because the waitress (and I forget her name now because I'm TERRIBLE with names, but she was the sweetest woman...) was so friendly. I felt like I was in her kitchen at home. You get yourself water at the little water station, and the waitress brought us two complimentary donuts (I forget the name of them now - they're crumby on the outside with cinnamon goodness and chewy and dense in the middle), which were so good with coffee. We both had eggs benedict since we heard about that on Yelp and they were tasty!! Definitely one of the heaviest eggs benny I've had - I think we were the last breakfast so the hollandaise was a little thick but that makes sense since it was 11am and they'd been serving breakfast all morning. Rather than potatoes, they serve their bennies with a little cheddar potato gratin. It was good and made me want a steak, but the cheese on that plus the heavy dense eggs benedict was enough to put us into a food coma - definitely not a light breakfast haha! Seriously though, the friendliness and warmth that you're greeted with was amazing. Even the chef was super sweet and friendly. I truly felt at home on the island, and this place made me feel even more welcome. A great group of people here, and we can't wait to come back (earlier) for breakfast soon. Thanks, everyone!!!

pretty solid breakfast lineup, good drinks, and an awesome location with a second-story screened-in porch and a view of the surrounding golf course. make sure to grab some chicken feed on the way out. service can be a bit slow, but there are worse places to wait than a breezy deck sipping an iced tea.

4 stars for the location and down home, welcoming service. The food? Ok. The banana malasadas were fantastic and Husband liked his bloody mary( no up charge for spicy). Our server was charming and the owner sat down with us and told us stories about the place's history. If you're a golfer, it's only $9 for a round. That's right. $9. And it would be an AWESOME place for sunset cocktails.

Great price for good tasting, home style, quality food! Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere with a nice view. Fun place to dine in and hang out with family and friends after a round of golf or after walk around the park.

Came here after a day of sightseeing and my friend and I were starving around 3pm. They had live music going on and the place was nice and breezy. They had a veggie burger too, which pleasantly surprised me. It was pretty tasty too, and my friend absolutely loved his burger. We ordered garlic fries but they came out super soggy, so my guess is that the oil wasn't hot enough and they didn't cook long enough either. Service was a little slow since they only had the one waitress, but that's okay.

It was recommended by the concierge at the Marriott Waiohai that Birdies at the Kukuiolono Golf Course was a great place for breakfast and he said their eggs benedict were terrific. So our party of four made the trek in hopes of a great breakfast. The club house and restaurant was hardly what we expected - extremely rustic but rustic still can be good. We were the only people seated for breakfast and were given a laminated piece of paper as a menu where it stated that Bloody Marys were $5 when ordered with breakfast. So we all ordered the Bloody Marys and eggs benedict. The waitress/bar tender asked how we wanted our drinks. Our friends ordered spicy, my husband asked for mild and I asked for medium. They were very tasty! The eggs benedict were not terrific with hard egg yolks. The equivalent of a hardboiled egg with hollandaise on top. We did not complain about the eggs but probably should have. Then the bill came. We were charged $7.50 for two of the drinks and $6.50 for the other two. My husband paid the bill and gave a nice tip before I realized we were over charged. When he went in to talk to the waitress she said it was because we ordered two of the drinks spicy so she charged us more (don't know why she charged us $1.50 more for the mild ones). We brought to her attention that the menu stated the drinks were $5. She said that was newly added to the menu and she forgot. She then went on to say that she didn't know how to give us a credit and that her boss was out playing golf so she couldn't ask him. Needless to say, the overcharge was not going to break the bank, but it was really the principle of the issue. So this was not a satisfying eating experience and we could not recommend that anyone else try this establishment.

This place makes me happy for the simple fact that it's the one place that I feel like I can truly reconnect with the one and only Ethan Shell, other than when I'm hanging with some of his closest buddies... You see, most people may not be aware of this but this cafe was actually named after and dedicated to a very special guy who passed away about 4 yrs ago now, at the prime age of 21...In high school, the kid had the lead role of Conrad Birdie in the play Bye Bye Birdie (which is where the name of the place comes from, that & it's also inspired by the game of golf). Sure, those who never knew him personally might wonder what made him so special to get a restaurant to honor him. Let me just say that he was truly one of a kind & I don't think there will ever be another person in this world like him. He lived every moment to the absolute fullest, and had so much love for everyone he met. Ethan was the nicest, sweetest, most genuine person I ever had the honor of knowing. Not to mention, he was also the most talented person I knew...I always thought he'd eventually make it to Hollywood one day. All that aside though, I do agree with the person who posted before me...this place is a hidden gem. The place is part diner/part bar, and it has a very laid back style...very "Ethan-esque" I think. The food's good and not to mention, very affordable! That's always a good sign in my book. The staff is nice too. I think Ethan would approve...in fact, I feel like this might even be Ethan himself gracing us with his presence (in restaurant form). I give mad props to the owner!!! If you haven't already, you should stop by, have a bite to eat (& maybe even a beer at the bar), and if you have time...read the article & look at the pictures hanging on the wall of Ethan to get a small glimpse of the person he was.

What a find! We only found this place by accident when going to the $9 nine hole golf course at the same location. We have never been there before (the course as the restaurant is fairly new) even though we have been to Kauai a number of times and have a time share at the Marriott in Koloa. Nick and his staff are excellent, friendly and I understand the food is great. However, so far we have gotten there too late for our lunch and too early for dinner (our schedule not theirs as they serve all day). This Friday we are going to play another round and eating at Birdie's is a must before we leave the island. Drinks are very inexpensive, especially for Kauai, and the pours are generous. What a view and there is seating on decks either looking out onto the course or the ocean and Port Allen. We recommend Birdie's highly and this will be a must on all our future trips to our time share. Steve and Janet Quiggle
