Some people need coffee. Some need tea. Others may need some kind of soda or energy drink to feel reinvigorated. I haven't quite mastered the coffee taste buds just yet and tea is always a welcome treat but I seem to need something more. Since I discovered bubble drinks, I've discovered fresh fruit bubble drinks and have come to rely on them to reenergize both my mind and body after a long day of hard work. Thang's II has become my perfect pick me up. Find a good variety of the freshest fruit bubble drink smoothies at a very reasonabe price sold here. Add huge, chewy tapioca bubbles for a fantastic optional treat for a $4 drink total. When I first began coming here, I set out to try every flavor. So far I've tried lychee, avocado, watermelon, papaya, honeydew melon, papaya, papaya, papaya, papaya, and hey, did I say.. um, "papaya"? hehe Whoops, guess I got a little more than stuck on...papaya, huh? = ) You may not like papaya as much as I do but don't be too surprised if you should happen to order the same fruit drink over and over. I am finding that no matter which flavor I select, I am sure to receive something cold, refreshing, thick, fresh, and delicious! First heard about this delight thru fellow Yeeps, Tanya A., Dave F., Nick E., & Jarod H., and so glad I finally gave it a try. Kudos to these bubble drink expert Yeeps - my tummy thanks you! :)

This review is a little premature because I've only tried the lychee boba. It was the only thing in the case that was not fresh but I love lychee. Boba was very soft but it was consistently soft. I'm not sure how I feel about the very soft boba yet. Aside from that, the lychee was good and I love the clean seating area. I also like all the plastic plants on decorating the ceiling. The biggest challenge here was the parking. I ended up using metered parking Kohou street. I'll have to try the real fresh fruit next time.

Let me just start by saying that I am absolutely obsessed with their boba. I work nearby and despite the fact that they're cash only, I always try to find time to come here (stopping by the atm beforehand of course.) They use the freshest fruits I've ever seen and it's no joke because they have the most perfectly cut and sliced fruits displayed in their glass refrigerator. I swear the first time I saw it I thought they were fake. Taste-wise, I've found them to be totally on point too. Not too sweet, not too sour, but just right. My favorites so far are the honeydew and the watermelon, but they even have weirder fruits too like papaya and avocado and a whole bunch of things that I'm sure someone would wanna try. Overall 5/5, would recommend :)

Freshly blended fruits with boba? Yes please! This is located by pancake and waffle in kalihi/across from the new kamehameha bakery. I always get avocado but they have a new extended menu which allows you to mix and match fruit smoothies (strawberry/banana, pineapple/coconut, the list goes on) it's also cheaper if you get the smoothie without boba!

So I was wondering why there were only 2 reviews before mine for such an awesome bubble drink shop and it's because they also double as "Thang II French Coffee and Smoothies." (more reviews listed under Thang II) Their first store is located in Chinatown on Maunakea Street. This Kalihi location is kind of confusing because their signage above the sidewalk fronting their store reads "Thang II" but the shop's window reads "French Café." Well Thang II or French Café, either way, this THE BEST place to get a fresh smoothie with tapioca. The best. Why? Because they use fresh fruits. You can really see and taste the difference between fresh fruit bubble drinks and powdered bubble drinks. They have a wide variety of flavors and also sell extras like tapioca pudding and candy. Their customer service is pretty good but their lines are long-especially during lunch. Be prepared for a lengthy wait if you go during the peak lunch hours. If you have the extra time though, it will definitely be worth the wait! P.S. Cash only-no debit/credit cards.

Found my way here after a huge breakfast at Pancakes and Waffles (directly across). Reminded me of a lot of the bubble tea/smoothie places in Chinatown, although I don't frequent the ones in Chinatown enough to give a fair comparison. Bubble drinks ranged from about $3.50-$4.00 with bubbles. I went for the Orange Milk and my friend got the Pineapple. The juices were very fresh! I was expecting the orange milk flavor to taste more like a creamsicle, but it tasted just like freshly squeezed orange juice with a little creamy texture. Although not what I was expecting (and admittably what I was looking forward to), it was a nice, fresh, refreshing taste. The pineapple was similar, very fresh tasting and wasn't too acidic or heavy like pineapple juice from the can. All in all A-OK from what I could tell.

Get any smoothie you think sounds delicious. THAT SIMPLE. This place is money. I'm told the avocado is their #1 seller, and I haven't yet pulled the trigger on it cuz it just seems weird to me? But that many people cannot be wrong. I'll get around to it soon enough, but in the meantime I'm happy with pretty much every other flavor I've tried. Most of the drinks are made with fresh ingredients - pretty awesome. Go to this place and satisfy your thirst :-D

My favorite smoothie shop since I was a kid! I love all the smoothies but I usually order the avocado with durian mixed! The staff is so friendly and the service is quick!

I like to go here every once in a while when I feel like having a nice fresh smoothie. They make them with fresh fruit and have a wide variety of options. You can order with or without tapioca pearls and can mix in multiple fruits at an additional cost. It is nice to have a fresh smoothie without all the added sugar like at Jamba Juice. The only downfall is that if you want more than one fruit in a smoothie it can get pretty expensive being $0.50 cents each additional fruit. I also recommend getting here well before or after lunch as the lines and parking can get pretty intense.

Thanks Hoku G. for the tip. Actually it's called Thang II. It's their second location of their bubble drink place in Chinatown in the Maunakea Market Pl. I love their bubble drinks. Venti size and they pretty much use fresh fruit in everything. All bubble drinks are under 4 bucks! Can't go wrong with that!

French cafe serves many different fresh bubble drinks at an average of $3.25 per drink. So far I have tried the lychee, honeydew (fresh), cantaloupe, and Thai iced tea and all were very yummy. For all you daring ventures there are also flavors such as mung bean, jack fruit, sour sap and even durian. I have been there a couple times when it was busy and the employees tend to loose some customer service values. I can tell you that this is my second best place to get my bubble drink therapy on!

Starbucks? Nah I'd rather go to French Cafe. It's a boba, smoothie, iced coffee place that's inexpensive but super good. They have a pretty good selection of flavors and they use actual fruit for their smoothie drinks instead of that flavored powder other boba places use. I think it was the owners there when I went but they were really nice and helped me pick a drink because I might have look confused. There were a lot of choices and they were all so cheap! I ended up just getting an Iced Milk Coffee, the larger size for less than $3. I like how the guy asked how sweet I wanted it to be. I said "sweet but not too sweet" hoping he'd understand me and when I got my drink it was PERFECT! Like I swear it was the best iced coffee drink I have ever bought that was exactly how I wanted it to taste! I fell in love with this place at that moment. My bf got a strawberry smoothie with boba and it was really smooth and had the perfect consistency. I could taste the real strawberries and the boba was the right consistency as well. Def my new coffee and boba spot :)

I'm a fanatic for fresh fruit boba and this place is by far the best!! So far I have tried avocado, lychee, mango, strawberry, watermelon, mango pineapple, and honeydew. I am never disappointed with any drink. You can also tell them if you want it less sweet!

SOOOOOO GOOD! I got the Strawberry Taro. The color is so pretty in person and in pictures it doesn't do justice. The decor is nice and pleasant. Can I take this place back to Las Vegas? I'll be back whenever I come back home to the islands.

Wow! I decided to visit this place after I came across the rave reviews. Bubble tea is my thing!! I couldn't decide on what fresh fruit I wanted as a smoothie with boba, so I decided on a Thai Iced Tea with boba for $3.50. What a great price for a drink in a venti sized cup. It's ice blended with the tapioca pearls added. OMG. They definitely know how to cook their tapioca right! I normally like my tea shaken on ice, but as a blended drink it's still pretty good. Wow. I'm chewing the pearls as I write this and I'm still amazed at how well the tapioca came out. Even when they're placed in a frozen drink! Kudos to the staff blending the drinks. AWESOME!! Went back just 1-day after my first visit and tried the Mango Pineapple with pearls for $4.50. Sooooo good! If you love mango, you will love this drink. Not too sweet and a perfect drink after a good workout in the morning.

Perfect for this HOT weather. Thang's has been my GO TO place when it came to bubble drinks. The thing that sets them different from everywhere else that I go is the fact that they use fresh fruit and their boba is the best...so far that I have tasted. It CAN get busy here, so be prepared to wait which would most likely consist standing due to the small space. But don't be fooled, it's ultra yummy! I like to get a combination of my two favs : chocolate & strawberry w pearl. OMGAHHH!!!
