Although Im not crazy about take out sushi, In my experience, Gokujo has actually the best sushi for any retail "take out." Marukai itself has a big time bird problem with pigeons flying around in store, Gokujo is definitely better then kozo, aloha, ninja and genki etc.. For the price point (cheap), I have a very difficult time complaining of quality with Gokujo. However, if I were to go to a traditional sushi restaurant that charges $7 to $35 per order (2 pcs) of nigiri sushi, I would then expect the world! Morimoto for example, falls very short in this respect. Their o-toro was cut razor thin and was discolored on the edges. Their kani king crab nigiri tasted like it had freezer burn and they didnt pick out the cartilage. Those were about $7 per one piece! People say "you gotta be fair, give them at least a month to settle." Hey I dont care if they "just opened," if you have the balls to open your doors and charge FULL price, then give me full quality. I'd expect only the best, especially from an "Iron Chef." My bill was over $500 for 3 people, no liquor and a 30 min wait for entrees with the place half empty. I think sushi in general is completely overrated. I think I'm just gonna eat Zippy's!
