We ate here while on vacation based on a recommendation from a relative. We were a bit skeptical at first since it's a little hole in the wall at an older strip mall, but were pleasantly surprised by their quality. Their roast duck, roast pork and char siu are truly excellent! The pricing is very affordable for what you get too. Their lunch plates are generously piled high so you could easily share with someone. We spoke to the owner and found out he was a chef in Hong Kong for 30 years. His experience truly shows in the quality of the food he offers.

Good roast duck plate & char siu; they pour a sweet sauce over their char siu; similar to another place in Kapahulu. Their lemon chicken was so so, as their lemon sauce was too light in flavor. I hope their place is clean, as a pigeon was flying above around their kitchen area; thought it would get whacked by their ceiling fan.

I know the name is "Roast Duck Kitchen" but I didn't eat the duck!! What I did have was probably the tastiest roast pork and char siu this side of Chinatown. They also serve roast, ginger and garlic chicken. Along with char siu fried rice and of course roast duck. Definately would go back. The store is kind of tucked back in the mall on the 2nd floor. Worth looking for!

Just the right amount of meat and fat on their roast pork! Excellent customer service!

Relatively New shop, popped in for some Roast Pork of course. Happy to find delectables hanging in the window. Ordered a Roast Pork and Ginger Chicken for both my Mom and me. And a pound of Char Siu, take out as there are just picnic table outside. Price was ok $7. Meats are $9. a pound. Went home and that buggah was Ono. Glad to have an Aiea Shop with Chinese Roast Pork, Char Siu, Duck, Chicken (Garlic, Ginger) really convenient for us. Hope they do good and stay around for a long time.

This place must be good! I went there to pick up dinner around 5 pm yesterday and they were all SOLD OUT! Closing time on Friday is at 7 pm! I saw 3 guys go in after me and they left upset.... Unbelievable!!!!!!!

Seriously AS GOOD AS IT GETS when it comes to roast pork! Not too salty or greasy and the right amount of crisp to the skin. Looking forward to my next visit to Hawaii, have to try their roast duck!

Talk about a hidden treasure!! Tucked away on the second floor of a mini mall in Aiea, this Chinese style on the go cuisine rocks. First of all, their viewing box where your favorites hang (roast duck and pork) is clean and easily visible. You can practically taste that crispy roast duck skin just melt in your mouth by just looking at it. Their duck is reasonably priced offered in both half and whole orders. Juicy, well flavored, not overloaded with oil, and the skin is crispy and delicious. Their roast chicken is well seasoned and also very crispy and juicy. But to me, their crispy gowgee tops the list. Sweet, savory, and the skin is perfectly cooked revealing layers of crispy wrapping with just enough bubbles guaranteeing that crunchy bite. The secret that makes this a winner is they mix home made char siu into the filler!! I am definitely making a return to try their roast pork, char siu, and of course more crispy gow gee!! Reasonably priced, very friendly, clean, quick, and yummy!!

Have been going here since they opened for business. Roast pork is ono, char siu not to my liking. Went there 2 weeks ago and a roach was crawling on the front counter glass. I told Nancy (the lady who works there) look cock roach & she killed it with the rag (I guess the one used to wipe the styrofoam takeout containers). I went today & this time had 3 roaches while I waited for my order. I called it to Nancy's attention & again she used that same dirty rag to wipe them off the glass. I told her to put some Combat or fumigate the place. She said we do have Combat. I told her where cause I didn't see any. She said under the counter. Damn I should have walked behing that counter & looked! So pilau!

Kind of sucks when stuff is always sold out! My gf and I went to eat here and found some hair in the chicken. The service was pretty horrible and it took quite a while for them to take orders. They need to streamline the ordering service. Food was not bad, but nothing to hype about.

The roast pork was awesome! It was juicy, tasty, crispy and fresh! The place was nice and clean too. Will definitely come back to try everything else!

For a place that has their specialty in their restaurant name, you expect nothing less of awesome. I will be honest with you, the roast duck here is the physical manifestation of awesome. Duck can sometimes be dry and overly seasoned. This place serves it so perfectly. Undoubtedly my favorite place for roast duck. But don't let the name of this place fool you. Their roast duck is paralleled by their roast pork. Dear god, just writing this review makes me want to grab a plate. Fortunately I am writing this from the comforts of my office in Halawa, and I think I'll grab some right now. Shoots!

My wife and I split the roast duck plate. They already ran our of the roasted pork. The plate came with cake noodle (extra cost), sauce for the cake noodle, cabbage and one crispy gau gee. The duck was roasted to perfection albeit very salty. The cake noodles were ample and tasty. The gau gee was a treat. The ambience is "Anywhere China" with roasted whole ducks hanging behind the counter. There is no seating inside, but there is a small picnic table outside. The lady working the counter was pleasant. I'm giving four stars simply because this place is unique and I love roast duck.

It actually surprised me why so many good reviews on yelp about this place. I went there yesterday morning with my boyfriend with high expectations. I was going to try their roasted duck. We got there at about 3. My boyfriend doesn't know Chinese nor Cantonese he asked in English for 1 plate lunch of roasted duck and 1 plate lunch of roasted pork. The lady said roasted duck sold out already. So I got the garlic chicken instead. But while we were waiting for food, a Chinese lady came in and asked in Cantonese if they still have roasted duck. The man replied Yes they still have half roasted duck left...... The man was there all the time and we were 100% sure the man heard us about roasted duck because he replied us "no more roasted duck" too...... When our food was ready the lady asked if we want chopsticks or forks. This time I replied her in Cantonese that I want 2 chopsticks. She was so surprised that I actually understand their whole conversation. She apologize for "counting the duck wrongly"...... Sigh The food was not good at all. The roasted pork that my boyfriend got was smelly. The garlic chicken was okay but I found a bug on the vegetables...... As a Chinese, I know how good Chinese food taste like...... 100% not like this. If you really love Chinese food or want to try some good Chinese food, go China town. So far the Chinese food that I've tried in China town taste much better than this.

Rating for roast duck and char Siu. Oh man the Char Siu is awesome! A must have. Roast duck was also great. The complimentary gau gee is perfect! Crispy and just flavorful. Service is fast. I don't recommend substituting white rice for char Siu fried rice. It's an extra dollar and if you're already getting char Siu you wouldn't need it. It's an extra dollar to make combo plates as well. Hard time looking for this place. It's located on the second floor right next to Koa pancake house.

Out for a relaxing Sunday lunch in Aiea. I absolutely love their Roast Duck; so moist and tender, delicious sauce and mouth watering seasoning. This is a great place to eat and relax (if you can get a seat, if not, the roast duck plate would make a great picnic meal ;)) Pros: * Delicious menu items to choose from * Very affordable * Variety of ice cold drinks * Service is very quick * Seats are available to use when you're waiting for your order (if that ever happens) * No nonsense, friendly service * Conveniently located in Aiea Tips (haha, no cons here!): * Get there early or they might run out I love it here!

I've seen pictures and check in's here from several Yelpers so I bookmarked this place. It's been in the back of my mind to go but I didn't want to journey to Aiea just to eat here. After speaking to two Yelp Elites, Lyla D. and Ramfis B., about this place, I finally committed to check this place out. I'm very happy to say that I did! Great take out spot in Aiea. This is a hole in the wall type of restaurant that serves take out plates. You can order just the meats or lunch plates with meat and rice. It's located in the complex with Aiea Bowl on the same level as Koa Pancake House. Parking is a challenge during lunch but worth the trouble. The restaurant is really hard to miss with it's big red and yellow sign. When you walk in, you'll immediately see the giant menu in front of you with the roasted goodies to your left (Roast Duck, Roast Pork, Char Siu, etc.). If you're thirsty, there is a fridge with drinks for $1 on your left as you enter the restaurant. There is a table inside and a table outside that you can dine at or you can choose from the many tables that the complex offers. There were two people working when I went. A Chinese lady and man. The lady took the orders and the man was working the kitchen. They speak Cantonese for all you Chinese speaking folks out there. I already knew what I was going to order so I ordered the combo Roast Duck and Roast Pork plate. My friend ordered the Roast Duck and Garlic Chicken plate. The plates were packed full of food! You get a ton of meat over cabbage and two giant scoops of rice with one crispy gaugee. Roast Duck - It was good. Not too much fat and flavorful. Came with the normal dipping sauce. Roast Pork - It wasn't too fatty and the skin was very crispy. End piece was legit. Garlic Chicken - Took about 20 minutes but worth it. Tasted like a Chinese style of Zippy's Korean Chicken.

Heard this place had good food. Just stopped in for a snack. The char siu is amazing!! Tasty, soft, nice smoked flavor. One of the best if not the best I have tasted... with I had time to try the duck or roast pork.. Next time for sure..

"Surprise, surprise"- those most excellent finds in unexpected locations. If someone were to ask you, "where can I get the best Chinese style roasted meats and gau gee in Hawaii" most people would say, " go to Chinatown". Yes Chinatown has some great places for these roasted meats but the best, and I mean the best stuff (in the opinion of many) is found in of all places, Aiea- and under one roof too. Roast Duck Kitchen is a small counter type operation that is located on the second floor of the aiea shopping center ( the one with Aiea Bowl) near Koa Pancake House and is found at the top of the escalator from the first floor. There are two outdoor tables if you want to grind there but for the most part, people get there stuff to enjoy later. A delicious assortment of the old standbys, roast duck, chicken, crispy skin roast pork and Char Siu and other assorted items are made fresh everyday- if you go later in the day items will run out. The crispy skin roast pork is among the best I have tasted while the char siu is a very flavorful and sweeter side offering. We really like their crispy gau gee- some of the biggest pieces of gau gee we have ever seen. You know how White Castle sells their burgers by the bag? The same can be said of the crispy gau gee- order a "bagful" of these bad boys to munch on as you merrily make your way home. Winnahs in my book! Cannot go wrong!

BBQ? Did someone say or ask for "Q"? No, no..I'm not referring to the great Texan smokehouses that serve up mounds of pulled pork or tender smoked beef ribs, brisket, sausages or chicken. Well, we have the next best thing and it's Chinese BBQ! As a self-professed porkaholic, my inclinations would normally lead me to Chinatown. But, sometimes, I just don't want to deal with the parking issues of Downtown Honolulu and today, my husband and I were buzzing around the Aiea/Pearl City area. So, our pork-centric tastebuds led us to Roast Duck Kitchen in the Aiea Shopping Center. It's conveniently located for West and Central Oahu folks with lots of parking, too. As its name boldly proclaims, roast duck is this business' main business. This Chinese BBQ also features chicken and pork that they also roast to perfection! Each meat product is seasoned-well, roasted until tender, juicy and crispy skinned. Additionally, RDK goes further by serving up plate lunches that showcase their roasted meat products and even offer catering services. Hmm, getting a catered platter would be a great idea for potluck contributions. We ordered 1/2 of a roast duck and a pound of crispy skin roast pork to-go. The butcher showed us the nice plump duck we had selected to chop for us and even cut us a middle cut of the pork. While we waited patiently in this small space we could tell that the whole operation extended further back from the service counter. That's where all the roasting "magic" occurs. It was really sweet of the young counter help to put in two freshly deep-fried gau gee (a variation of won ton) at no additional cost. Fortunately, we had just eaten lunch at Jackie's Diner so we made it home without breaking into our still hot from the oven treasures. Upon arriving home, we vented the containers as the aromas wafted out and filled our kitchen. Our noses were beckoned by the smell of Chinese 5-spices mixed in with the fresh BBQ pork and duck. We each chomped into a crisp gau gee. It was truly packed with a pork filling which we thought tasted a bit salty (for our tastebuds). Maybe we should have eaten it with a bowl of rice to better distribute its savoriness. But, the real stars were the crisp skinned, meaty and juicy duck and roast pork! Both items were really tasty and succulent! Whether you're just looking for a Chinese plate lunch without having to fuss with the crazy parking issues or considering a catered potluck contribution, I think that Roast Duck Kitchen would be worth a try, if you're in the area. #349

Love this place!!!! I will drive here from the Windward side to get their roast pork! It's crunchy, it's juicy, it's soon good! Put that together with the cake noodle lunch special, you got yourself a winning plate!!! Why only 3 stars then? Lately, they haven't had char siu. I come a little after they open, so it's not like they run out. Can't wait until I can get some!

No complaints. The food was good. But not better than Chinese food I could find at home. The place was not the cleanest. Service was very friendly. Prices were ok. Pretty middle-of-the-road fare here. Disclaimer, I did not try the roast pork. Which is the dish a lot of people said was super good. So take that into account when considering my rating.

The Char Siu and Roast Pork here was some of the best that I have had in recent memory. The skin on the roast pork had a nice crunch to it when you bite into the skin, overall it had just the right amount of saltiness to it. Definitely loved the sauce they used for the char siu which was just right, enough that you taste it while not overpowering the meat. But my favorite had to be the Char Siu Fried Rice which was a deal when you consider that it fills up a take out plate and has huge pieces of char siu that you can actually see. PARKINGWISE: Like others have mentioned there is a lot of parking available (especially handicap parking with really big handicap access isles). BONUS: While this isn't really about Roast Duck Kitchen I consider it a bonus that right next door is Ice Garden and below them is Samurai which are great places to stop for dessert afterwards without having to go far or move your car. We will definitely will be back soon!!

I had the roast pork plate. It comes with 2 scoops of white rice, 1 piece gau gee, and 45 minutes on the treadmill!!! Simply put Roast Duck Kitchen is evil! I swear I gained 4 lbs just breathing in the scent of crispy pork and duck fat. It's a tiny hole in the wall, mom & pop place. The lady usually behind the counter is pretty friendly and helpful but english isn't her first language and she has a heavy accent. You can get your plate with fried rice, do a half and half (duck/pork, pork/chicken, etc.) They also do large pans if you need to order for a party. I think it's usually 48 hour advance notice but more if it's for a holiday or a really big order. They have soda, juice, water, and iced tea for sale also in a cooler by the front. (It's not included with your plate lunch sadly) There's a couple of plastic tables outside or you can also sit at the tables by the Koa Pancake House (there more shade there). Eating here means I have to go to the gym...but it's totally worth it!

Roast pork is tender with crispy skin and not too greasy. Crispy gau gee is one of the best I've ever had. Good seasoned pork filling, crispy wrapper and not too greasy. Oyster sauce chicken is another good choice. Chicken is moist. I haven't tried anything else on the menu. Menu is small but it's good eats!

We walked here from The stadium after the market to get some duck and fried rice, very good. Duck is definitely fattier than chicken, but very tasty. The fried rice had egg and chunks of meat mixed in, also very good. We also had like a fried potsticker or something that was good. This is a small little take out place with no bathrooms and one picnic table to eat at outside. Pretty good food overall.

Soooo consistent with the food quality and taste. The loast pork can't be beat!! Also they got the best Char Siu east of China. If they spiced up their loast duck just a notch, then this shop would be the Ultimate eatery for the local fans!!! My favorite stop for "LOAST PORK". Meeee likey velly velly much. Did I mention they also got ginger chicken, oyster sauce chicken, pork fried rice, deep fried Gau Gee, etc. ?!?!! The "Kanak Attack" of Aiea!!

DELICIOUS SEASONED MEAT. Their ROAST PORK has crispy skin, very little fat, and lots of seasoning. A place you would normally find in Chinatown is conveniently located for those that live on the Leeward side. FOOD Like I said earlier, deliciously seasoned roast pork, even their ROAST DUCK was cooked to perfection. It was succulent and savory. Bring on the bao buns and plum sauce please! You can order your meats by the 1/2 pound or get a plate lunch. They do mixed plates. Large portions! Don't forget to try their humangous GAUGEE too! That was really good and filling! They also have GINGER CHICKEN for the healthy inclined and OYSTER CHICKEN also. Now their FRIED RICE on the other hand is quite the opposite, not enough seasoning. My 5 stars is solely based on their MEAT and gaugee. Just warning you, because I do feel I am a fried rice expert. Just sayin'. ENVIRONMENT Located in Aiea Shopping Center near Koa Pancake House. There are only a few chairs on the side to wait for your order. There are community tables outside or just take out. Just like a meat shop in Chinatown with the hanging glazed meats. You just don't have the worries of Downtown like parking, closing early, or cash only. Roast Duck Kitchen has free parking, closes later at 6:00 pm, and they accept credit cards! Thank you! SERVICE So, so friendly and generous! I wanted to just buy one gaugee (just cause I wanted to taste it) and she slipped it into my plate for free! How generous! CONCLUSION Chinese BBQ at it's best! Great place to get food for a potluck, party, or just a plate lunch on the go! I'm coming back again for sure!

Great food without the tourist upcharge. Located not too far from the Pearl Harbor Memorial, this hole in the wall kitchen is a gem. Lunch plates were only $9. I got the barbecue pork and roast pork combo. The meat were flavorful and the skin was crispy. Also tried the duck which was good.

After hearing great things about Roast Duck Kitchen, I was glad to be able to give it a try with the family. You probably want to get here early in the day if possible - they can sell out of things later on. We split a roast duck plate, a roast pork plate, and an order of crispy gau gee. The roast pork and roast duck plates were delicious. It wasn't perfect - half of the roast pork skin wasn't very crispy - but the meat quality was good and the value is excellent. The plates had a ton of food and our order of 2 plates plus the gau gee was enough for the 4 of us. I personally didn't care for how salty the fried rice was and preferred the white rice, but if you don't mind (or better yet, like) saltiness then I would recommend trying it - it has a great taste, and I liked the char siu inside. The crispy gau gee was generously sized and fried perfectly. Just note that this is more of a takeout place - there isn't any seating inside, though you might be able to grab a table outside. Overall, this is a great, affordable place to get some roasted meats.

Think of it like a drive thru. 1 nice clean bench with a view, but better plan on taking out. The duck tastes great, char siu (BBQ pork) is moist and juicy. The steamed chicken is served cold (intentional) and the ginger/green onion sauce is tasty.

I know it's Roast Duck Kitchen..but I've never tried the duck! The roast pork is what first caught my eye when I walked by after cutting my hair next door. Since I consider myself a little bit of a roast pork connoisseur I had to walk in a try it. My heart probably hates me but I can't NOT stop in after cutting my hair since that first time! The roast pork is simply delicious! The skin is crackling crisp and the meat so deliciously seasoned and juicy. My old favorite was a little shop on Liliha Street that closed years ago and I've been tasting roast pork all over Oahu trying to find a place that was as good as Mr Lee's. Roast Duck Kitchen is the closest I've found so far. Do yourself a favor if you're a roast pork lover like me and make that drive to Aiea Shopping Center. Ask for a pound of roast pork cut into 3/4 inch slices (they'll cut it too thin at times) and enjoy the juicy, delicious flavors!

NOTE: they are on vacation until 4/1/2015.... Located a floor down from the Aiea bowl in that shopping complex, I found out where this place is actually located in trying to find parking on the lower level of the shopping complex, when trying to find parking for the bowling ally after the upper level was full. With that said, as I just tried to call in the order for lunch take out for my whole office and the whole sigh of disappointment as they overhear they are not open until April 1st. Looks like we will all starve today not being able to satisfy the severe office craving for their one and only roast pork... mmm imagining the crispy perfection outer skin, and the buttery delicious melt in your mouth fat to meat ratio of pork... the crisp golden fried gau gee... not today folks. Not today. The first time I tried this, another coworker ordered me the plate lunch with the cake noodles and the roast pork and gau gee. I have not tried the duck or the char siu, but the pork... like non other perfection of crispy skin I have ever had anywhere else on island.

Excellent roast pork. Crispy skin and juicy meat layered with melt in your mouth pork fat. The roast pork is seasoned well but is not too salty. The plate lunches here are very hefty. You can get roast pork, duck, or garlic chicken. Pay a little extra and you can opt for fried rice. Each plate also comes with a piece of gau gee. This place also sells the roast pork end cuts if you like the extra crispy parts. I like to get a half pound roast pork and eat some for dinner then the next night slice up the left overs and stir fry it with some veggies.

I'd definitely come again for the lunch special of a row of roast pork, a row of roast duck, two crispy gaugee, and two scoops rice all for $9, what a deal! The roast pork was pretty good (not the best I've had in Chinatown, though), and I really liked the duck. Both meats were moist and fatty. There's 1 table inside but that's usually occupied by a person making something and it's hot as hell in there anyway. There's a picnic table right outside. Otherwise, take out is best.

Awesome roast pork with crispy skin! I have to buy 1/2 pound extra just for the ride home, or there will be none left for dinner! It's soooo good! I'm so happy we found great roast pork, roast duck and char siu closer to home than Chinatown. They also have good char siu fried rice, and their prices are very reasonable. And do NOT forget to pick up an order of their superb crispy gau gee! They are fried when you order them, so they are piping hot. Their gau gee is full of meat filling, and is different from most others because it has generous amounts of minced char siu that give it an extra delicious boost of flavor. Onolicious! And less than $9 for 10! We've ordered them for pupus several times, and they are always quickly devoured. I'm not sure if you can order less than 10, but you'd probably regret it because like the roast pork, most of it wouldn't make it home ;)

This was my last stop before taking off back to reality. I wasn't disappointed. The only thing I was disappointed with was the fact that I didn't come here earlier and more frequent. The portions were more than enough which in itself bumps them up to 4 stars but the icing on the cake was the quality and taste of it all. I had the combo roast duck and pork, which came with one of the fried wonton things (I forgot what they were called, but they were amazing, it was like a fried chimichanga wonton). Both were cooked just right and and very tasty. Did I mention that they were huge portions? The Mrs had the ginger boiled chicken (Hainan chicken although I don't think it is what they called it) and it was really good. I'm glad she got that because i would have missed out on something that might be the best thing they got. The ginger oil sauce was on point. I even used that for my pork and duck. Highly recommend it. Make sure you use all the sauces they give you. Perfect compliment. After you order you can sit right outside and enjoy the weather while you eat.

I live back on the mainland now, but if I could I would fly out there just to eat here. My husband and I would frequent this place and it was addicting! The crunch on the roast pork, perfectly fried gau gee and one of the best char siu fried rice I have ever had!! The price is on point and the food is top quality. Service is always friendly!! Oh Roast Duck Kitchen how I miss you!!

  • Rissa K.

I came here today for half roast duck which was about $12. This place is not bad and closer to home with out having to drive all the way to Chinatown! They also have char Sui, roast duck, roast pork, ginger chicken and Gau gee. They give you 2 pieces of complimentary gau gee with my order. The roast duck was yummy but I think I've had better from place in Chinatown. It was a bit too much on oily side and I prefer skin crispier but still not bad though. Glad to have place like this closer to home!

Awesome roast pork, full of flavor, juicy, crispy and no big chunks of fat - they use good cuts of meat here. The charsiu fried rice was super good too, almost more charsiu than rice! Charsiu pork was good too, I only wish they cooked/roasted it longer, I like it almost burnt with crispy ends! But it was ok. I'll be back to try the roast duck next time.

OH YEAH!! + Amazing food + Friendly service + Lots of parking OH NO!! - It's all the way out in Aiea OH MY?! ~ It's just like a Chinatown shop, but not in Chinatown?! When I first heard of this place I thought to myself, "With a name like 'Roast Duck Kitchen', they better have some good roast duck." And I'm happy to say that they do! Whenever I head out that way, and need food for a potluck, I always make a stop at Roast Duck Kitchen. They've also got excellent roast pork, crispy gau gee, and roast chicken too. If I didn't know any better I would have thought it was in Chinatown. I haven't tried the char siu or the fried rice yet, but I have no doubt that they are amazing. The folks behind the counter are always friendly, and very efficient whenver I've stop by, and they're also more than happy to take phone orders in advance. Another nice touch is that when you order a plate, or a whole roast duck, there's usually a bonus crispy gau gee tucked in the plate. In fact, calling in your order ahead of time is a good idea, especially later in the day since they do sometimes run out of things. Next time you find yourself out in Aiea be sure to check out Roast Duck Kitchen for some great Chinese food.

Though I try not to eat them often, duck and pork are some of my fave treats. This place does a good job with pork, duck, and gau gee. In terms of the sides (fried rice and noodles), they are nothing special, but you come here for the main course, right? This is Chinese-style pork and meat. The menu was a little confusing, but the lady at the counter answered my questions. Though I still wasn't sure what I ordered, I was sure it included pork and duck. Both were good, and priced right. The pork had the crispy skin I love, and the duck was also slightly sweet, just how I like it. Both were juicy and somewhat greasy, but not too bad. I also really liked the gau gee. It was tasty, and the dishes came with some sauces for the meat, which were a nice addition. It's not really a dine-in spot, though they have some tables outside. It's intended for you to grab your grub and bounce. It is located in the same shopping center as the Aiea Bowling Alley' another good spot to grub. I would totally come back here to get some food to go. It is prepared quickly and convenient. Even if you don't know what you ordered (like me), it will be pretty good and satisfy your craving for Chinese-style pork and duck. Just do it!

The roast duck, the bbq pork (char siew) and the roast pork, the crispy gau gees.. all amazing!! Love the food from this shop! Service is ok. There is no seating inside & only 1 table outside. It's located on the second floor (above Times Supermarket), behind the pancake place. I wish we had roast duck/pork as delicious as this where we live.

I came there because of all the Yelp reviews. I did not realize it was just right next to the are my neice was training for her gymnastic competition. We walked in and order 1 roasted duck, 1 lb of roasted pork, and 1 lb of char sui (BBQ pork). We heard that they spoke Cantonese, so we ordered in Cantonese. First time using my Cantonese on the island! We did some small talk and they threw in two gau gees for us to try. Roasted duck - roasted to a perfect golden brown and so good. Roasted pork - Crispy skin and tasty Char Sui - WOW, perfect sweet taste with the a right amount of roasted flavors Gau Gee - Crispy to perfection (like Elle U said)! The meat inside is good and moist. Super nice service and fantastic food!

Yuuuuuuum! I went here with my bf and it was the best Chinese I've had in quite some time! I got the duck and my bf got them roast pork unfortunately they did not have char siu which was a bummer but other than that it was excellent! Their fried rice is out of this world as well and they even included crispy gau gee! I'd definitely come here again (when I'm not on a diet, lol! ;P)

The REAL deal! The REAL McCoy. The Roast Pork is epic. Just the right crispy/crunchiness to the Pork skin and the right balance of saltiness and juiciness all compiled in every single bite of Roast Duck Kitchen's Roast Pork. Mmm...literally salivating writing this review. So awesome to have this gem in my hood and don't have to drive my lazy bum all the way into Chinatown cuz you know the traffic be cray cray CRAZY these days. Plus, sometimes I'm just not in the mood to fight for a parking stall and tip toe around Hawaii's not so finest (aka: bums) Call ahead for a phone reservations and for larger orders make sure to call ahead a day in advance so that they can fulfill your order. Alright time for some Roast Pork.

The Roast Duck and Roast Pork was quite incredible and really delicious! Crispy, juicy and wonderful flavors all around. Lunch plate of $8.95 is priced just right! The sauce complimented the Roast Duck and Char Siu Fried Rice with a Crispy Gau Gee hits the spot! Winner!!!

Roast duck kitchen is so wonderful. It's so wonderful that i have to pace myself when eating or else I wouldve indulged in 10 pounds of food like it was way too easy. The flavor is ONO and the portions are generous. This is my go to place for roast pork. And if they're out by the time i can get there...ill take the scraps of whatever is left.

We were driving through Aiea and thought we'd give this place a try. This is my first time eating here. The menu is not that big. Roast duck, roast pork, char siu, ginger chicken and big ass crispy gau gee. I had the roast duck and roast pork plate with white rice. The roast pork was perfect. Nice and juicy. I just bite the skin and the meat just below and toss the rest. I know. Waste yeah? But thats how I eat it. I just cant stand the bottom half. The duck was excellent. Perfectly seasoned and not overly salty. This is not peking duck its just roast duck. Personally I think peking duck is overrated. Dont forget to try the crispy gau gee. They don't skoshi out on the filling. Three would fill me up and they came out nice and freaking hot. When your done clogging your arteries with all this goodness, you might want to get something hot to drink and add some degreaser or dawn soap because I felt a bit queasy after eating my plate. It was so ono going down though. This place is small. Thats an understatement too because it is. There are no seats and its kinda hot if your waiting for your food inside. The lady that was taking our order was very friendly and brought our order outside where we were cooling off. I definitely would recommend to anyone in this area of Aiea to try this place out.

This review is just for the roast duck, which was amazing! Mmmmm. They sell either a whole or half roast duck, so we got the half for about $12 with tax, since we figured that's their specialty (based on their restaurant name, haha). The duck was really tasty - moist, flavorful (I can detect some five spice salt), and I kept going back for another piece. I would totally bring the roast duck to a potluck.

A small place that produces very good roast pork and roast duck. It can be a little difficult to find because it's not visible from the street or parking lot. I ordered a combination plate with roast pork and roast duck. Both were very tasty. My preference for good roast pork is the skin must be crispy and should have some fat but not too fatty. The roast pork based on my preferences was perfect. The serving sizes were pretty substantial for a very reasonable price. I did like the choice between white rice or fried rice. I chose the fried rice, and liked that it had a lot of char shu. It was like have a triple dose of roasted meats. My only wish is that they would serve won ton mein. I personally like roast duck won ton mein over roast duck with rice. I would have also liked my Gau Gee, but the pork wasn't fully cooked. It was still raw in the center so after one bite I had to stop eating it.

My parents always had their favorite places in Chinatown for roast pork or char siu. Because of the crowds I never would go on my own. Thank goodness for Roast Duck Kitchen. My savior in Aiea near Pearl Harbor. Best quality roast duck, roast pork, and char siu!!! The massive gau gee is really good, too.

This place is a small hole in the wall but don't let that discourage you from making a trip! The duck and roast pork here is amazing! I've eaten a lot of roast duck around the U.S. and roast duck kitchen is definitely in my top 5. The lunch plates are very large. The duck and pork prices (by the pound) is very affordable. It's better than Chinatowns prices. Lastly the owners are great! Not your typical sit down place but we usually grab a few plates and sit at benches around the area. Afterwards, try the Ice Garden for dessert! It's located in the same building.

Normally I loooove going to this place but after today I'm never going back. I ordered 2 plates - roast pork w/fried rice & oyster sauce chicken w/fried rice (since they were out of cake noodle) plus a half pound of char siu. My total: $39.40. Didn't realize that maybe I paid too much until after I left so I called and spoke to the lady. She said - half pound char siu $6.50, 2 plate lunches $19 shouldn't be $40. I said well, that's what u charged me. Her response - maybe the char siu was little bit over half pound. omg... Even if it was that doesn't explain the whole overage. she abruptly cuts me off and says "I'M BUSY RIGHT NOW" and hung up. scratch this place off my list. She didn't even apologize or make any effort to rectify the mistake. extremely disappointed as our office orders lunch from their very often. not anymore. I don't care how good their food is.

That was the best roast duck I've had in ages!! My husband had to fly to Oahu for business and I remembered that someone had told me that if I go to Oahu, I need to visit Roast Duck. Not a fancy place, so I like the whole take-away idea, especially as I didn't go there. Husband brought 2 roast ducks home to Maui and we ate some that night. YoW!

  • Bea M.

Their duck, roast pork, and gau gee is on point. I don't care for roast pork but we eat it often cause it's one of hubby's fav. there is more meat to fat ratio and the skin even stayed crispy on the drive home. I would have to say there's is one of the best around here.

Onolicious!!! So far everything I've had here was great...duck, crispy gaugee, char siu, fried rice! If it's on the menu it's good!

Nice to find a place close to home for excellent Roast Pork, crunchy skin. It's a small hole in the wall place behind Koa Pancake House, it's on the second floor behind Aiea McDonalds.Saves me a trip to chinatown to get my fix. I always get the roast pork by the #. They do sell plate lunches. The roast duck looks tasty but haven't tried it yet...

My quest for roast pork was not in vain, this place is the best it gets on Oahu! The meat is sold by the pound which is great for using it as my main dish and adding the sides. The Roast Duck is just as delicious, I ordered 2 for Thanksgiving and it was a hit with all my guests! Don't walk but run to this place because it gets crowded during lunch and after work because I'm not the only one that picks up take out for dinner and don't forget the handmade ginger sauce it's super ONO!!!

I didn't know this place existed until someone told me that they have a sale of roast duck & so I went, however, there was a line & by the time I reached the counter, they run out of duck. Tough luck, but I promised to come back to try their most vaunted delicacy . So I did returned & ordered not only the toast duck but also the roast pork. Shoyu chicken & ginger chicken. The lady at the counter gave me free samples of Gau gee & they were very crispy. We feasted on the foods when I arrived home & we were not disappointed at all . The duck skin was crispy & the meat was just right, moist w/ the right blend of spices . The roast pork didn't disappoint either, w/ crunchy skin, not salty & the meat was not over cooked . The Ginger chicken was excellent , not raw tasting, cool & delicious. All in all, my experienced with this place is quite pleasant. The lady at the counter tells you honestly how the roast pork are at certain days, whether it's crunchy or not, & I appreciate that . I would recommend this place if you want good yummy, scrumptious roast duck or pork , not to forget their tasty roast chicken, crispy Gau gee, ginger chicken & char siu.

Just went to Roast Duck Kitchen for the first time and am left with a mixed review. My co-worker told me to the Roast Pork is amazing, so this was a definite must try. I ordered the Lunch To Go special and made it a combo for a $1 more with a row of roast pork and a row of roast duck. The roast pork was amazing- skin was crispy, good flavor, fat melted in your mouth. The duck was the exact opposite. It had a funky taste to it, like the meat was old. I tried eating it and ended up spitting it out and throwing it away. So disappointed with the duck, but will definitely be back for the pork! Maybe they should rename it Roast Pork Kitchen. Thanks for the Pork!

After picking up tickets for Pearl Harbor Memorial, we wanted to grab a quick bite to eat before venturing off to do more sightseeing. We found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a shot based on the high rating. Wow, what a find! This truly is a hidden gem. Nothing fancy, just a little hole in the wall that makes the best darn roast pork and roast duck.....ever! The lady that runs the place is such a dear. So sweet and helpful, I felt like she was one of my aunties. Back to the food, the roast pork is tender, not chewy, with just the right amount of fat. The skin is light and crispy, again just right! The roast duck is juicy and skin crispy, roasted to perfection. I only wish they served plain porridge to go with the meats. But no biggie! We will definitely add this place to our "must visit" list next time we are in Oahu.

I am disappointed. This is the second time I wanted to buy their famous roast pork and roast duck. To my surprise for the second time they claimed they are out of roast pork and roast duck. They were trying to sell me their roast chicken and ginger chicken. You let me down once it's ok. You let me down twice, SHAME ON YOU. Believe me when I say I'm writing this review in a civil way but my emotions is somewhat different if I translate it into words. So So SAD...Oh and I came at different times...

Pig, Duck, Fried Rice, Homemade Chinese Mustard, Huge Portions, Pork Roll....what does theFox say- "delicious"! This place is kind of hard to find. There is a 3 Level Shopping Center and the parking lots do not connect. It is in the center shopping center. It is located the very back in between the buildings. Consider it like a treasure hunt, if you find it you will be very happy. It has a single door with a yellow doorframe with red writing that says Roast Duck Kitchen. When you go inside there are no tables so don' t expect yo eat inside. There are roasted ducks hanging on hooks and a man with a large cleaver. Like the end of the movie The Christmas Story. Order the roast duck, roast pork combo. I did not see it on the menu but it was $10.99. It comes with a very ample amount of pork and duck, two large scoops of fried rice ( which contain a ton of pork). It also comes with what appeared to be a pork spring roll. The duck has great flavor and crispy skin. The pork is done like pork belly, Very tender with a crispy outside. One of the two sauces is a homemade Chinese mustard, not overly spicy but you can taste the homemade element. If the one picnic table outside the restaurants full, you can sit at some of the other tables in front of the other restaurant.

The roast pork is AMAZING. The roast duck is just as AWESOME. Plus I didn't need to go to chinatown!! This will definitely be a routine pit stop for me and I am going to try their char siu for sure. So um... excuse me while I go nom on this pork.....

Roast Duck Kitchen has the best Roast Duck on the Island! I have tried several places in Chinatown and throughout the Island and every single one of them has disappointed me with mushy and flavorless roasted duck. Roast Duck kitchen is the only place that I found with great tasting Hong Kong Style Roast duck with perfect meaty texture. You can tell that they put the extra effort in seasoning the duck to make it perfect. The cha-sui and roast pork are very tasty too. I love getting their lunch special where you can get a generous combination of meats, two scoops of rice, vegetables and a crispy dumpling. This is also a great place to go if you need to bring a dish for a party.

Went here last weekend, as I was craving duck and this place has the best Chinese roast duck on the island! My husband and found this place on Yelp back in May, and have been back many times since. Last weekend we shared the duck plate, with fried rice for lunch. It comes with a piece of gaugee, which is also delicious. The duck itself is always cooked perfectly (succulent and never dry), and the pork fried rice has tons of char siu (bbq pork) in it, and is the best. We always take most of the fried rice home and eat it for breakfast the next morning - so good! The customer service here is always friendly and welcoming, as well. Great food, great service, and outstanding value. Highly recommend.

Forget Chinatown. The best Roast Duck & Roast Pork is here. If you get a plate get the combo of duck & Pork with fried rice.. its huge & comes with a gau gee. Only one table outside to eat so don't come here expecting a nice sit down place. For desert... go to ice garden...

Back again for Sunday lunch! "What do you want?" she asks...."I don't know" the answer in UNISON! Just no fast food...no pizza, no no no! I don't know what I want only what I don't want. Hmm what to do? Off to Roast Duck Kitchen....no Pizza or fast food although they are pretty darn quick to get your order out. Half pound roast pork (wish I had made it a full pound), half pound Char Siu, one whole duck and two 10 piece Gau Gee and they are huge Gau Gee! Outstanding food here. The man that chops the chicken and duck does an awesome job so the fowl doesn't have the splintered bone in any of the pieces. Don't touch the sauce, not sure what you are supposed to do with it but it's nasty! Make a pot of rice before you go and when you get home....voila, lunch!

Ever since finding this place I've been so happy I didn't have to take a drive all the way to Chinatown. The duck here is so Flavorful and the roast pork is perfectly seasoned. I swear I could eat 3 whole roast ducks! If your looking for good quality chinese roasted meats you've found the place.

I have been coming here since they opened. I ordered half a duck craving for the past week. To my surprise when I got home bonus 2 gau gee. The owners really appreciate regulars. This place is legitimate. You all need to try.

Tried their roast pork plate lunch with fried rice and crispy gau gee. It was amazing. The skin was so amazingly crispy and tasty on the pork, and the pork itself was unbelievably moist. The fried rice was awesome as well and I haven't had better gau gee anywhere else. So crispy and so good. We also ordered a tray of noodles from them another visit and they threw in a whole take out plate full of fried rice for free. Will definitely be back!

Great food, large portions. First time here but the reviews were all correct. Roast pork, garlic chicken & roast duck was awesome!!! Would come back here anytime. Phone order was fast so you don't have to wait. There was at least 2 people waiting & 6 people behind me.

As a Chinee that knows my pig, I can attest the roast pork here is legit. It's better than most places in Chinatown. A good mix of fatty and lean, with crispy skin. Fresh and warm too, even mid-afternoon! However... While I expected them to charge a premium because of their location, I think it's a bit high... ~150% of Chinatown prices. EDIT: I need to retract my comment regarding their pricing. They're only slightly more or the same as Chinatown. (I still have SGV/Bay Area prices stuck in my head) I'll have suck it up and come back some time to give their roast duck a try... when I'm not being frugal.

So, you've been reading how good this place is? Best place outside Chinatown they say? We'll, stopped by today after yesterday trying a well known Chinatown established place that I won't say the name. But let me say this, all the reviews are spot on, walked in for the first time today. Ordered Duck and Roast Pork with fried rice" oh we cooking the fried rice so u have to wait lil bit" Winna fresh out da wok!! A place u can go closer to home and not worry about parking. That being said, this place as real as they get, very succulent portions and plentiful. Lastly I almost always take pics of my food to post later. Nope not this time, after that first bite I was hooked!

    1. Value: $7.95 gets you a great dish of BBQ meats on rice! 2. Food: Others have already raved about the roast duck, so we tried the roast pork and gau gee. For Honolulu, this is as good as it gets for succulent meat and thin but relatively crispy skin - highly recommended. The gau gee can be up and down - the first batch was stuff and excellent; the second batch was also stuffed but had a twice-deep-fried taste and texture. 3. Service: Simon's a great guy - no worries about the service here! 4. Atmosphere: You're really coming for take-out or to sit in one of the outdoor tables. very little seat can be had inside - but then you really are visiting this place for the food, right? :) 5. Verdict: Recommended - very few cities in North America have really good Asian BBQ meats; this place should be added to your list if you are looking for the best that can be had in Honolulu.

I read reviews on this place and was in the mood for noodles so I decided to give it a try. Got my food really quick and ordered the roast duck/ cake noodle lunch. It came with gaugee. I must say it was exactly like many of the reviewers said. If you are on the west side or near pearl city area and don't want to drive to China town to get a good duck or noodle plate, this is definitely a good spot. Duck was juicy and noodles were nice and crispy.

Like going to Chinatown without the craziness of Chinatown... and also that you're in Aiea. o.O Try it. I always go next door to make copies at Aiea Copy Center cuz they're cheap and it's supporting the locals, but this time we decided to share a plate. $9 is not super cheap for a two-choice but it's pretty dang tasty and worth every dollar down to the rice. At $8 for a single choice it's a pretty good steal. Their char siu is softer than anything I've ever had in my life and while my dad prefers some tough texture to it, I appreciate that it just melts! And that they buy the meat from us too lol. Anyhow.... their roast duck is pretty dang ono as well. I used to hate duck because of the greasiness that I thought was unhealthy and some places oversalt but this place does it just right. Save for sounding like an ad, if you're ever in the area, bypass McD's and L&L and hit up Roast Duck Kitchen (or Aiea Bowl too is a good option hehe).

Oh Roast Duck Kitchen Why have you been ducking me all this time? I have to tell you, after eating at this little hole in the wall on the second floor of the Aiea Shopping Center near the Koa Pancake House and right above Times Supermarket, i have cried tears of foodie joy because i have finally found a place where i can get Roast Pork with the perfect crunchy skin and Roast Duck which just melts in your mouth and i don't have to go all the way into Chinatown anymore because i have found a place close to home now. Roast Duck Kitchen is a hidden jewel of a place that makes you feel like you are entering a sauna because it's so hot in here, but i could give a duck's arse about it because the smell of Crackling Roast Pork and Roast Duck just captivates me in so many ways. It was so funny because you could see an older lady, who happens to be the owner wrapping Gau Gee just to the right of me happened to be the lady who took my order. She was very pleasant and polite and i asked her if i could get a combination plate of Half Roast Pork and a Half order of Roast Duck with Rice and she obliged without any hesitation. It cost me $8.95 and i was a very happy camper. After getting my food, i wanted to eat my food right outside just in case i wanted to order more food to take home with me, and after opening my plate lunch, it was like opening a treasure chest to find a mound of gold coins inside. It was probably one of the prettiest presentations i have ever seen for a plate lunch....check it out yelp.com/biz_photos/PG_t… yelp.com/biz_photos/PG_t… And after taking the first intial bite of the Roast Pork, i was in Hog Heaven. It is what you envision when you eat Roast Pork....Crunchy skin,Moist meat, Perfect marbling of meat. It was unbelievably delicious. As for the Roast Duck, it was wonderful as well, but i think i just didn't get the best part of the duck as it was more bone than meat. But i won't hold it gainst them because the meat on the duck was moist as well, but next time i'll just order the duck as a whole and i know it will be nice and juicy. Well after devouring my lunch in a matter of minutes, i decided i had to go back in once more and have my dinner for later in takeout mode. The Roast Pork was so good i had to order a half pound of it... yelp.com/biz_photos/PG_t… And i also wanted to order the Half Roast Chicken because i love chicken like popeye loves his spinach.... yelp.com/biz_photos/PG_t… While i was waiting for my order, i was talking to the older lady who goes by the name of Nancy. She was a charming lady and was a pleasure talking with her. I was looking at the cook deepfrying the Gau Gee and told her how good that looked, she then asked me if i wanted to try a few pieces and what do you think my answer was gonna be ;) I was telling her how the Roast Pork was one of the best i have ever had and she was humbled and very happy. But Nancy really does take pride in her business and i can see why it has been flourishing despite being in such a hidden place. But like i say, if you have a good product, you don't need to advertise, they will literally find you if the food is that good and yes,i am convinced that Roast Duck Kitchen has some fantastic food here.and there is a reason for me to come back again and again and again and again. yelp.com/biz_photos/PG_t… Here are some of the items they have to offer: Roast Duck (Whole) $18.95 (Half) $9.95 Roast Pork (One Pound) $9.50 Char Siu (One Pound) $9.50 Roast Chicken (Whole) $14.00 (Half) $7.50 Crispy Gau Gee 10 pieces for $7.50 Might i add i have tried the Gau Gee and it was utterly AMAZING!!! The Gau Gee wasn't too big like Waimalu Chop Suey, nor was it too small, it was just the right size and the filling was just so tasty. And that was after eating it 4 hours later. I have to back for the Gau Gee as well. What makes this place work for me is that they give you sauces on the side for your Roast Duck,Roast Pork, and Roast Chicken. That along with friendly service and spectacular food is the reason why i'll go back to Roast Duck Kitchen. So if you have a little gathering of friends and you need to bring something for a potluck ot want to get something for a picnic or a party, you should definitely give this place a try. Just look for this sign and logo and you are there... yelp.com/biz_photos/PG_t… yelp.com/biz_photos/PG_t… Roast Duck Kitchen has got me yearning for that Roast Pork........again!!!!!

The Chinese man at the counter, although a nice guy with a brash, loud voice came across as pushy at first. "No. Gone. Sold out. Order this. No, that take too long. Order this." Like, "Ho, eaz-eh, patnah!" It was then I realized, with the people after me, that his pride in speedy service just made him look that way. My combo: Garlic chicken, roast pork on white rice (which is actually 2 giant scoops on the side) bed of cabbage and complimentary gau gee, $8.95. Only a dollar upgrade from a single entree meal. The Bad: -Was a little disappointed with their roast pork. As I was expecting succulent swine with a nice, crispy skin. I understand I'm not eating chicharon or rinds here, but just a 411 for those expecting. Also, the skin was a little chewy. RDK's roast pork, however, was still good. Not great, but good. That or I just caught them on a bad day. Yeah, that's probably it. The Good: -At least their garlic chicken was crispy. In fact, better than a lot of places. -Rice is nice, soft and sticky. Not Jasmine grain but that Hawaii standard and better. -They pack their gau gee here fat. Like a mini meaty deep fried pinata. Recommended. The Roast Duck Kitchen House specials are: Boneless Chicken on cake noodle with gau gee, $7.25 Boneless Chicken on white rice, $6.00 4 stars Roast Duck Kitchen in Aiea Shopping Center (2nd floor, Next to Aiea Copy Center)

I've seen this place MANY times before when I go to get my haircut right next door at JDK but never stepped in until now... This is a old school, hole-in-the wall Chinese takeout joint. The menu is very limited and revolves mainly around roasted pork, duck, etc. Today, I ended up buying some roast pork and roast duck for lunch with my family. The duck is good, being very juicy, if not a little bland. Must use the sauce. The revelation of this place, however, as others have said, is the ROAST PORK! CRISPY SKIN, JUICY MEAT, just the right amount of fat, and just the right amount of salt! This stuff is AWESOME!!! Reason alone to come here! Service here is a tad bit slow, so come early if you know you're going to be in a hurry. The wait is worth it, though, and I would not hesitate to come back again!

Excellent roast duck and roast pork. If you don't want to venture into chinatown, this is the best place to go for your Chinese roasted meats. Try to buy the roast pork "end cuts" which are sold at a discount. Normal roast pork price $11.95#, pkg of end cuts costs just $6.99 per container.

Best roast duck & roast pork outside of Chinatown area! I don't even care for roast duck but tried it cuz of the reviews. Missed out all these years! Their roast pork is super soft & juicy just like everyone's said. And their plates come with a gau gee. Omg! Their gau gee!! Also a must try. It's also very juicy & meaty. One of the best I've tasted. So to sum it all up, this place is a must try!! You don't know what you're missing!!

I ordered the roast duck plate lunch. Not only was the duck tasty, but the bed of cabbage that it rested on was cooked. Usually places will use a bed of cabbage as a flavorless filler. But I enjoyed eating the cabbage here. And of course the duck, roast pork and char siu are just as good as you would find in Chinatown.

When my carnivorous taste buds kick into overdrive, Roast Duck Kitchen is always the first call I make in the morning, "Can I put a whole duck on hold?! Thaannnkkk yoouuuu!" Walking into this humid shop, you hear the distinct sound of the cleaver slicing through the ducks with accurate precision and a woman sitting at the table stuffing their glorious gau gee. Any time I'm here, I feel like I'm yelling my order at the woman over the counter, in a feeble attempt to have my voice carry over the hustle and bustle of whats going on around me. The roast duck here is flavorful and juicy. They give you a dipping sauce, which compliments the meat beautifully, but in all honesty, the duck tastes amazing on its own. After buying a whole duck, it's perfect in a nice steaming bowl of saimin, risotto, over a plate of cake noodle (not very fond of the cake noodle here), or I simply grab a piece and pull every bit of meat off the bone (even sucking on the bone to extract every last drip of flavor). mmmmm. The gau gee here is stuffed to the brink of almost exploding from the seams, which is why I love it so. I don't really like the sauce they give with the gau gee, and tend to wait until I'm home and use my sweet and sour chili sauce. :) The roast pork here is also a winning dish (especially when you're too hungry to worry about all the bones in the duck). Taking the first bite, you can see the juices seeping from the meat. Your mouth immediately reacts to the sight and begins to water...simply anticipating the wonderful flavor of the succulent pork. Just remember: They tend to run out of duck, so be sure to put one or two on hold

3 stars for customer service (on holidays) and 4 stars only for the roast duck, char sui and the stuffed crispy gau gee. Being Chinese and an expert of fried rice, their fried rice is just ok. However, don't walk in and expect to buy roast duck and roast pork for Christmas and New Year unless you place advance order ahead of time. Even then they may forget since they don't give you an order confirmation slip. Be warn...they do not accommodate walk-ins and are rude over the telephone. If they do make extra roast duck and roast pork for these 2 holidays, they are selective as to whom they sell to. On other given days, they are more accommodating.

I can't believe how good the roast pork is here. I think the quality at Alicia's market is a little better, but the parking here and amount they give is much better. The fried rice is some of the best I've had. Really, it's amazing and I hope they stay in business. Really a gem tucked away in a hard to find area.

Amazing roast pork! Crispy tender and tasty. It's a simple and straightforward menu of duck, gau gee, roast pork, and char siu. They know their strengths and I would definetly drive out of my way to takeout for a party!

This time we came to pick up my phone order of 30 crispy gau gee to take to my friend's Chinese New Year party. At first I was disappointed because when I got there, they were still frying my gau gee, even though I had arrived after the time I told them that I would be picking them up. But, at least that meant that our gau gee would be fresh-out-of-the-fryer hot. And their gau gee's are one of the plumpest gau gee's I've ever seen. They do not skimp on the filling at all.

Super yummy and worth it! Bought 3 plates: roast duck/pork combo, ginger chicken and char Siu on cake noodles. All came with gau gee and vegetable. Each was $8.50 (cake noodle is extra charge). Each plate was huge! Portions are really good here!!! Now I know where to get cold ginger chicken!!!

Went for roast duck and char Sui pork. Both delishhhh. The guy in front of us changed his mind about four times and the lady just kept smiling. Their plate lunch looks great too. Gotta go back.

Absolutely the best crispy gau gee ever! I saw them make it and they stuff it to the limits! Taste is awesome.... Crispy to perfection! You can't go wrong! I highly recommend this place. Plate lunches are killers too!!!!

When I've got "Chinese Roast Duck" on the brain and I happen to be cruising in the area, this is where is go for a plate lunch. Tender, juicy, tasty, not too oily - yum! I decided to get it with white rice now because I don't want to overwhelm the taste and mix it with the char siu fried rice, but cake noodle with a sauce is also available. I would prefer a different cooked vegetable besides boiled head cabbage, but the star of the show will always be the roast duck . . . it's in their name!

Good quality Chinese BBQ close to home. Win! Stop with the banana jokes. Our Midwest friends do not know it as char siu, roast pork and roast duck. Chinese BBQ is so personal so I'll just make generalizations about what is offered at RDK: Roast Pork: Extremely flavorful. They use a thinner cut of pork so there is way more crispy skin to pork. The pork is juicy and firm without excessive fat. Roast Duck: Strong seasoning. Chewy skin. Not very plump. The sauce that accompanies it is NOT made from the innards (taste like dark soy and sugar). Nowhere close to the flavor of Nam Fong. Char Siu: Over seasoned with a fermented aftertaste. Bizarre texture. The pork is roasted but is soft as if it was allowed to sit in the fermented soy paste too long. It was not spoiled. Tried it three times, always the same. Service is super friendly but the person who cuts the meats is older and works slow. All good since he does an excellent job (even cuts, always cut all the way through; no meat lei). Keep this in mind if you go during peak hours. Prices are higher than Chinatown.

This is an alternative place if you live on the Leeward side and want to save some time and a trip all the way to Chinatown. However, the quality here is mediocre to say the least. Roast duck- expensive and nothing special Roast Pork- competitive prices, different, a bit dried out to my liking char siu- No comment, since we didn't try it. We went here twice and both times they had run out of duck. Finally on the third attempt there, we could finally try some quackers (we called first to make sure, they had it). So disappointing.. So if you want to save gas and skimp on taste and quality come here. If you want better go somewhere else, although you may have to drive a bit farther to get it. Wink, wink.... Also, this place is small, no air conditioning, it's hot as an oven and only does take out! I would also suggest, if you really want to try this place to call in your order. That way you won't be disappointed if they run out of something, this will save you some gas and more importantly your time.

Best roast duck I ever had, moist & juicy instead of being dry like most places are. I love the taste & at times the lady behind the counter throws in some wontons as well that was nice but I had to tell her I don't eat pork!! I love going here and they have lunch specials as well. They have roast chicken as well which I need to try but if it taste like the duck I'm in!!

Cleanliness and Chinese restaurants are like water and oil, ketchup and ice cream or New Yorkers and Bostonians ...they simply don't go together. Roast Duck Kitchen is the exception to the rule as their shiny new stainless steel equipment and spotless floors (when I went in at least) put any downtown roast meat bodega to shame! Besides being able to use their floor as a plate, RDK's roast pork ($9.50 lb) yelp.com/biz_photos/PG_t… is one of the better tasting versions I've had on this island and probably the best West of Kalihi (Alicia's Market is #1). The insect free chophouse also boasts whole roast duck ($18.95), half roast duck ($9.95), char siu ($9.50 lb), whole roast chicken ($14), half roast chicken ($7.50), whole ginger chicken ($14.00), half ginger chicken ($7.50) and char siu fried rice ($4.95)...they also have a side menu of "quick lunches" offered at $6.95 each and they include the usual suspects like lemon chicken w/soup, rice and vegetables...amongst other dishes. If your lucky and they haven't run out yet they also offer "Roast Pork Ends", about a pounds worth, for only $4. Overall RDK is a good spot for your coronary clogging carnivore cravings, and a definite gas saver for anyone living in the Aiea to Pearl City area. The prices are kinda high, but the quality is there and the gas money saved from a 300 mile cross country road trip to Kalihi might just balance out in the long run. They get extra points for having one of the coolest looking logos as well...I think i'll get that tattooed on my neck in the near future : l #Yelp 365 - 038/365

Roast duck is a pain in the arse to eat, and there's a ton of waste. I knew this already when I stumbled into Roast Duck Kitchen this afternoon. There those beautiful succulent roast ducks were, hanging behind glass on display just enticing me to order them. So, I did. Actually, I ordered the roast duck "Quick Lunch" for $6.95. It came with two scoops of rice and veggies. For a dollar more, you can upgrade to fried rice. So, I did. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. She smiled a lot and made me aware of my options. She was even looking out for my best interests: When she asked if I wanted a fork or chopsticks, and I opted for the chopsticks; she said, "I'm going to give you a spoon too. You're going to want to use it to eat your fried rice." So, I did. The meal was quite tasty. The duck was s a pain in the arse to eat, and there was a ton of waste. But we covered that already, didn't we? The fried rice was delicious and loaded with bits of goodness. I was disappointed to see my "veggie" was simply steamed cabbage. But once I started dipping it in the wonderful sauce provided, my disappointment faded into delight. My intention was to save half for later; but when it was half gone, I felt like I wanted to keep eating. So, I did.

True, the roast pork is clean, crisp and nearer to the west side for those of us unable to venture into china town. Impressive generous filling of gau chee with taste like the way the Chinese cooks know how to flavor the ground pork. There was a line out the door of the small kitchen, be aware of the heat inside this establishment. Once at 11 a.m. they ran out of their popular roast duck, so the locals must like it. I am returning!

Old school Chinese kitchen with a very limited menu. I give thanks to the swine who gave up their lives for such tasty roast pork & char siu. Their roast pork is moist with the crunchy skin that I love. The char siu was good, not great. Although the place is clean, the same lady who takes your money also packs your food. Oh well. I think it adds to the taste! Germophobes should not eat any Chinese food, anyhow. I had some difficulty placing my order....."One and a quarter pound of roast pork, please...." Blank stare back..."what you want?" says the lady who is cashier & food packer. "Roast pork, please. One and a quarter pound....." No Recognition of what I was trying to say. "Just like hers, " - pointing to the previous patron's order which was exactly 1.25 pounds of roast pork. Confused stare. So let me try another way - "1.25 pound roast pork" - drawing the numbers in the air for her. Thought air writing and leaving out prepositions and other unnecessary English words would help. "Just like that order..," pointing the 1.25 pounds of wrapped up roast pork that she had just wrapped 20 seconds prior. Lady behind counter not happy. I'm obviously not getting through. So lady who looks like my fifth graqde teacher who had just ordered 1.25 pounds of roast pork 20 seconds prior to me helps out...... "She wants One and one fourth pounds of roast pork...." Chinese cashier/food packer: "Ah, one-fourth....One and one-fourth." Well, I finally got my order. So now you know if you visit here, no new math. Only old school and no decimal places allowed. Stick with the fractions you learned in 3rd grade. I'll go back to try their roast duck. But maybe I'll stick with one pound.

While on our mighty quest to eat at different spots today we came across Roast Duck Kitchen after having our cool treats from Ice Garden. The first thing that stuck me was 1. there was parking (good luck in china town), 2. there were no bums or angry people yelling at the sky within ear shot of this place (so it's safe for kids), 3. the doorway doesn't smell like pee... JACKPOT!!!!!! ...and the food? Dayum good! Their Roast Pork was the BEST ROAST PORK I EVER HAD! Holy cow! The texture was like butter, the skin like crisp bacon, the flavor like heaven! The Roast Duck was decent, but I'm not a huge fan of duck either so if I say "decent", probably equates to fan-frickin'-tastic to you Donald eaters out there. The Crispy Gaugee, is stuffed just right and super tasty... WARNING! When that stuff is freshly put into your container it is hot! ...and by hot I mean it will second degree burn your hungry ass if you try to take it then and there! don't say I didn't wan you... I HIGHLY recommend this place to people who want to get down with some roast pork and duck and don't want to beat your head against your steering wheel trying to find parking, or risk your life trying to get to the restaurant from you car, which you hope will still be there when you get back... HA!

hate to burst all of your bubbles but... i work in one of the businesses at aiea shopping center and was told by other businesses not to eat at roast duck kitchen. why? because they go through the dumpster for their cabbage and other vegetables. sounds hard to believe right? well, i didnt believe it either. until i caught the worker doing it on sunday while i was doing a trash run for work. most disguisting thing ever. i didnt have my phone on me so i couldnt take a picture or video. but for the sake of your health, don't eat there cause thats just gross!

Excuse me... are you looking for deliciously juicy, meaty, roast duck? are you looking for crispity-crunchety 1.5 inch pieces of tender roast pork? go somewhere else. gosomewhereelse. GOSOMEWHEREELSE. gos omew heree lse. This deliciousness is mine. MINE. all mine. I don't mean to be selfish, but do you know what it's like to be so close to something you can almost taste it...only to have it wisked away in a styrofoam plate by the very person you have been standing behind for the past ten minutes? DO YOU?!?! There is not enough for all of us. Get your own fabulous roast duck kitchen. Finders keepers, losers weepers. Picture this scenario: I am patiently standing in line in a small open air establishment transfixed on the 5 ducks hanging in front of me. I look behind me and the line is now out the door, about 5 people short of backing up the escalator. I think to myself 'good thing i got here before them! *muahaha*' I turn back around and count the people in line. 3 people. I glance over to the hanging ducks...5 ducks. I do the duck to people ratio. SAFE. well, needless to say math has never been my strong point. The person in front of me finished ordering and is getting ready to pay and the lady behind the counter says sheepishly "sorry everyone, no more duck for now." WHAT?!?!?!?! I can feel tears welling up in my eyes. Several months go by, and I have adjusted my duck to person ratio and it seems to be working BUT THEN....it happens again. A guy two people in front of me sneakily places his order in chinese in order to sabatoge my formula. All of a sudden, the lady behind the counter gets that sheepish look and my eyes get BIG. no No NO! tears. my stomach growls at me in disgust. I was sooo close. Two people away! I could almost taste the deliciously juicy, meaty duck... ALRIGHT FINE. If you MUST go, GO. (You won't be sorry.) But save me a plate ok?!

Roast Duck Kitchen officially opened its doors late February. The place is a small take-out spot that specializes in Chinese style roast meats. I was given a sample of the char siu pork. Grindz. I was given a sample of the roast pork. Equally grindz. I ordered a plate lunch of two scoops rice, chinese style shoyu chicken atop boiled cabbage. Grindz. They have roast duck, roast port, & chicken hanging in the display. The aunty that works there explained to me that the chef had 30+ years of experience working in China and had recently moved here. For my cake noodle cravers, they get em! If you're in Aiea and want to go grab some pupus like dat, RDK is a great spot to hit up.

Ordered the 1/2 duck and 2lbs of roast pork for dinner. Yup it was a winner so much so that everyone ate the duck and said how good it was. The reason I only bought 1/2 was that it's usually my son and myself eatting it. This time it wiped out! Tender juicy lots of taste so I'll need to by the whole from now on. The roast pork was good but for me the skin was too hard in places. The taste was there but, I'll give them another shot but for lunch this time. I'll be back again!!

I don't do Chinatown. It's not that I can't, I just won't. I love roast pork and roast duck so I'm always on the look out for tasty places that have my favorite Chinese deli items that are sold saaaaay...any where except Chinatown?!?We found ourselves out running errands in the Aiea area this weekend which segued into the perfect chance to check out Roast Duck Kitchen. All I have to say is, "WINNER WINNER DUCK DINNER!!! " Juicy, delicious, meaty pieces of duck and mouthwatering, plump, crispy gau gee, MMMMMMMMM!!!! Definitely want to try the roast pork on our next visit :)

Wow. The Roast Pork is amazing! The price was $9.50 per lb and it's enough to feed 2-3 very hungry people. The duck was $18.95 for a whole one and it was meaty and juicy. I like the duck from Maunakea street in China Town (Nam Phong I believe) so I'm used to something a little more sweeter and saltier but this was pretty good too. It's really nice to have a place like this close to home that serves Hong Kong style duck! =) Aaaand they accept Credit Cards! Yay!

I grew up in Chinatown and on Chinese food. This place has THE BEST roast pork and char sui on the island -- no joke, hands down. It's ironic because I used to go to Chinatown for this stuff, but I can't anymore. It's too good here. The skin on the roast pork is perfectly crispy, the char sui is really tender and perfect (not too sweet or salty), and the price is totally unbeatable! You can get fried rice with your salty meats for SUCH a good price! You even get a free crispy gau gee (hey, any bonus is a bonus!). To top it off, the owner (the lady who takes the order) is super nice. This place really feels like a find and a perfect gem in Aiea.

Had to come here since one of my friends kept posting this on his facebook page. Roast pork plate and a can of pepsi. Sat outside on the lone picnic bench and went to work. Pretty good I must say, moist and tasty. I really don't care for the skin, I know I know that's the best part. My gf on the other hand would love it cuz it's crunchy. I'm just not into the skin part. It also came with a crispy gau gee, very good too.

Okay, so here's the scoop... I was gonna wait awhile and see what'll happen next time, but I just thought maybe I should bring this out, let's say it's a "thought put-er outer!" If you're gonna put something on the menu board in large print, giving price and portions... then shouldn't the merchandise be consistent with said menu board? So if the menu board said crispy fried chicken wings consist of 10 pieces....HOW.... can EIGHT be miscounted as ten? Wouldn't the cook drop the pieces in the hot oil INDIVIDUALLY so as to be counted? AND wouldn't the server.... WHILE removing each piece INDIVIDUALLY.... be counting each piece as they put it in my take out box. Now, fast forward to later when I'm in Kaneohe ( the other side of the island) open my box of "crispy fried chicken wings," and start eating... yeah they look and taste pretty good..... but wait..... that's two chicken wing bones cleaned nicely of meat..... and HEEEEEYYYY.... there's only six pieces left.... lemme count again.... hhmmmm two eaten..... six uneaten. Lemm try looking under the rice..... nope not there! Now as I look skyward with my head bent slightly to one side, and one side eyebrow crooked up, I think again...... six pieces yet to eat.... and TWO PIECES ATE.... MAKES EIGHT! On menu... 10 in take out box on other side of island EIGHT!!!! feeling stupid for not checking lunch box before leaving RDK....priceless! Don't get me wrong the food's pretty good there, and inexpensive. It just got me thinking ... is the scale ( that weighs the meat before chopping) there calibrated? I mean how can the guy who drops them in miscount, and the lady server taking them out, to put-um in my box miscount? Just saying.... things that make you go HHHHHHHMMMMMMMMM!

We came wanting roast pork but the lady in front of us ordered the last of it. So we settled on ginger chicken and some char siu. I'm used to char siu being more syrupy and sweet, but the bf loved it. I really liked the dipping sauce for their ginger chicken.

I love Roast Duck. Period. I said it. I even eat the skin! I can almost hear the shrieks from those that feel that Roast Duck is not healthy because of the fat. To each his own.... For this Chinese girl, Roast Duck Kitchen is a jewel. I was lucky enough to be passing through Aiea after taking the kiddies to the waterpark. After all day watching kids and carrying that tube up and down the wateroark steps, there was no way I was gonna cook dinner. I decided to pick up some food to make my life easier. Unfortunately, I had never actually been to Roast Duck Kitchen. All I knew was that it was on the second floor of that three level shopping center that Times and Aiea Bowl are located. I drove around the second level about FIVE times because I could find it. You can't see Roast Duck Kitchen from the parking area. You need to park and walk through it a bit and then there it is. This is a small, simple little take out place that sells, roast duck, roast pork, char siu, cold ginger chicken, fried chicken wings and some other things I forget. The owner was a very nice and friendly lady and I enjoyed chatting with her as I waited for my things to get chopped up. We all really enjoyed the roast duck, char siu and cold ginger chicken that I brought home. I'm looking forward to trying their fried chicken next time.

Since I read the reviews on yelp I decided to stop here before I go home which was around 4:45p. It's a tiny little shop and oh my its so hot in there even with the little fans they have blowing you feel like you are being roasted. When the nice lady asked me what I would like I said one pound of the roast pork, she says sorry but we don't have and the guy says yes we do. She said oh okay you have to wait. Hey at least I'm getting it fresh and hot. After waiting a few minutes in the store feeling as if I were going to melt she called me to get my order as I was ready to pay I gave in and ordered half duck. I just couldn't help myself. When I got home I shared with my family, very tasty and juicy. Would I come here again that is a most definite yes. Just not all the time because eating too much of that is not good for you but it taste soooooooo good.

It's sad to see people giving low ratings to this place just because they were sold out. Doesn't that tell you something about the food here? DUH! My first visit here, i went away empty-handed. They were sold out. My second visit here i tried the chinese roast pork and of course i had to try the roast duck. This is going to be an easy review. THE BEST CHINESE ROAST PORK AND ROAST DUCK I HAVE EVERY HAD! The roast pork was leaner than most, the pork was tender and flavorful, and the skin was so crispy. It would make a "crunch" sound when you ate it. I love roast duck but i hate dealing with the bones. The duck here was very meaty, sooooooo tender and juicy. Juice would drip from the pieces as i ate it. Nice, crispy skin. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about it.

Thats some damn good duck! Went here for lunch & had to try to roast duck. Good sized portion...not way too much, but enough to fill me up nicely. The duck itself was very tasty. Cooked just like I remember the good duck dishes in china town back in the day. Nothing fancy...and thats a great thing! Simple & tasty, just how a lot of good chinese food should be! The whole place feels like hanging out in Cultural Plaza as a kid again, and it was nice! Glad they brought their business to Aiea shopping center! Fo' Sho'. Bad reviews for sold out food is kind of sad. They're a simple family run chinese joint with food good enough to sell out very fast. Props to them. Definitely going back whenever I have to hit up Aiea Copy! (Which is often!)

Best roast pork, duck, chicken and char siu outside of Chinatown!!! Nuff sed! For all those people bashing this place because they run out of food, doesn't that show you that their food is in high demand and that you need to show up early to get food?! When they first opened they tended to run out of food but now that they've been open for a few months now, I think they've gotten better with the supply and demand curve. I can show up after work and they'll still have everything available. Plus they keep adding new things to the menu...cake noodle and gaugi is now available! Can't wait to see what else they'll add in the future. Roast pork is to die for...perfect amount of fat, meat and crunchy skin. I've had roast pork that is super fatty and has chewy/tough skin. Never again!! I found my source without the crowds, attitudes and smells of Chinatown!!!

Another hole in the wall conquered! I first found out about this place after watching KHON Morning News w/Manolo. (Foodie tip: never try anything right after Manolo features it; my friend went that very weekend, but was disappointed to find out they ran out of roast duck.) It's located in Aiea Shopping Center, on the same level as McDonalds. If you've never been to this shopping center, don't even try to navigate this place with your car. The parking levels are completely separate, so to get to the next floor you'd have to exit onto the street...forget it! The easiest way for me to explain where it is: park on the same level as Times (first level), then take the escalator up to the 2nd level--you can't miss their red and yellow storefront. To be honest, I am not a fan of duck, but was told by reliable roast-duck-eaters that it was good. The roast pork was even better. My dad noted that it wasn't as oily/greasy as others he's had. We noticed that slabs of pork were being boiled in a big pot, which probably takes off a lot of that greasy oil. I actually had a Boneless Chicken on Cake Noodle plate for $7.50. It came with 4(!) pieces of crispy gau gee, which was fried on the spot, along with my cake noodles. It was absolutely ono! The chopped cabbage was a nice complement. The (oyster?) sauce was on the sweeter side and I couldn't get enough of it to sop up with my crispy-outer-edges cake noodles. I went back the next day to get some duck and pork for my dad to try. I wanted to place a small order of a quarter pound of pork and a quarter of the duck, but here's another tip: don't even try. It's either half or whole or nothing. It all worked out in the end though--more for my dad, who couldn't stop picking on those pieces! They also threw in 2 pieces of gau gee, which was a pleasant surprise!

I always pass this place while going to my doctors office and it smells so yummy, so finally my boyfriend and I decided to try it out...while waiting to go to my doctors office. We tried the minute chicken with cake noodle and it wasn't bad. They garnish with cabbage, but not mustard cabbage...just plain cabbage. Kinda different, but still good. Their sauce is not overly salty and gelatinous...it's just right and the taste of the roast chicken was pretty tasty. Wish they offered more noodle options instead of rice though. That's the only draw back.

I ordered a combo plate consisting of roast duck and oyster chicken with a bed of par boiled cabbage. Their today duck, which is one of their specialties, lacked that today duck punch you would get from those bought in China Town. The chicken lacked flavoring. However, both items had crispy skin and juicy.
