I can't believe there's only ONE Church's left on the island! This is now the ONLY fast food shop I know of that sells fried okra, and man oh man...I could eat that stuff all day every day, if it weren't for the drive out to Pearlridge!! 0=) So in a way, it's probably good that it's so far away, hehe. I also love their honey-butter biscuits, which seem to have a lighter, "crumblier" consistency than KFC or Popeye's...and with that sweet honey-butter on top, OMG, sooo good! Of course, I'm also a huge fan of their fried chicken: perfectly-cooked, super tender & juicy, not stringy, and their batter is nice & crunchy with great flavor. The taste is JUST different enough from other places to make it unique, but most importantly, it still tastes like chicken!! ;D That's really key for me, b/c I'm definitely not into a ton of herbs or spices, etc. I just want my fried chicken to taste like chicken. 0=) For those who have kids, are really small-eaters, or just picking up a snack, keep in mind that Church's sells a 1-piece thigh or drumstick with a biscuit for $2.49 (as of 5/25/15), which is usually the perfect size for me. Well, I get that AND a large fried okra ($4.49) of course, hehe! ;D You can see where the priorities are...

While chicken is not my first meat of choice but on the occasions when I do want to eat chicken, Church's Chicken comes readily to mind. I really love, Love, LOVE Church's Chicken because they serve some really finger-licking good chicken! This is 1 awesome fried chicken chain in the US and sadly, only 1 CC remained open for business on Oahu. Please support them so they DON'T CLOSE...Lol... Thank goodness for Pearlridge Mall as it is the only viable business location for CC in Hawaii. I would sometimes, in the past, visit the Kam Shopping Center or the military NEX just for those incredible fried chicken, hot biscuits and other great side items. Unfortunately, I can not do that any more...sad face...sigh. I grew up with CC in my neighborhood as long as I can remembered. The Colonel has nothing on CC's menu; KFC's menu (IMHO) is limited. The variety and new additions from CC keeps me going back. It is not just their chicken that are tasty but their side items are so delicious. The incredible oven hot biscuit drizzled with honey butter is so yummy while the whipped mashed potatoes are soft and smooth. The accompanying gravy is fabulous too and I'm saying this as someone who doesn't care much for gravy. I usually try to put myself on a "fat food budget" but CC makes this self-imposed regiment really hard. On those rare occasions when I am successful at sticking to this budget, I treat myself to their 2-piece combo package deal - 1 honey butter biscuit and mashed potatoes. But then I blow it whenever I sneak in a side order of their tasty corn. That is when I go straight into a food coma and end up walking around like a dazed but happy camper. Aah...the side effects of good eating...lol. Life is good when your tummy is happy. Crossing my fingers this CC location will be with us for a long time and who knows, maybe there will be more locations in town in the near future!

I have always wanted to try Churchs, and am glad I finally did. After walking around Pearlridge mall for a few hours, I was ready to eat. Having never eaten here before, I figured the meal number 1 would be the average meal that would give me a sample of their overall taste. The meal comes with 2 pieces of chicken (spicy or regular). I chose spicy, which consisted of a drumstick and breast. It also comes with a side, which I normally would have gotten the mashed potatoes (a lot of people mention them in their reviews), but opted for French fries at the wife's request. It also comes with a honey butter biscuit and a soda. Everything came out really hot. I had to wait a few minutes because the chicken was literally still smoking while I ate it. The chicken was really good. Definitely better than KFC, IMHO. The skin was crispy and surprisingly spicy. Most places aren't that spicy when you ask for spicy, but this was the perfect amount of heat. The chicken meat was so soft and balanced the crispy skin. Great combination. The biscuit is everything you have heard of in other reviews. Very very good. Unfortunately my first one was undercooked and gooey when I broke it in half. I took it back and had to wait about 5 minutes for them to make a new batch. Minor though, I don't dock points for it. Overall, I was pretty impressed with Church's chicken, and would definitely eat there again.

I love Churches. I usually order the kids meal since I can't eat regular size portions. The line is never too long, and the wait is only a couple minutes. 4 if you order nuggets. I usually get the chicken leg with mash potatoes, honey biscuit and a drink. It's under $6. Sometimes they give me two legs if they are on the puny side. The mash potatoes with gravy is good. The honey biscuits are awesome! Always order the honey biscuit! One time recently I ordered a chicken leg and when I got back to my lunch room, there were chicken nuggets in the box when I opened it. I was kind of mad. Until I ate a nugget. Holy moly those chicken nuggets were amazeballs. I've been alternating between the legs and nuggets since then. Staff is always friendly. Order honey and butter to go with your biscuit. They don't offer jelly sadly.

Crap. The food is terrible. Crap is being generous to this place. KFC is 5x better. Even Foodland chicken is better. No sort of freshness to foods. Seems like food was microwaved

I'll start with the good. Church's honey biscuits are the main reason that they are my favorite fried chicken chain. They did not disappoint this time either. My fried okra was burnt. My chicken tenders was greasier than normal. Raspberry tea didn't taste right. It was way too syrupy. The employees were nice and prompt. It seemed clean as well. Hopefully they watch their food a little closer and pick up a notch quality wise.

I haven't gotten the chance to eat the rest of the menu but the chicken is the bomb! Ate it at the UH game while tailgaiting so I can't wait til I get them fresh! The hot is pretty spicy and juicy to the tips!

    Better than Popeyes or KFC.

Churches chicken is pretty good. However, they do have a unique taste compared to places like kfc, popeyes, and jollibee. They have a pretty good sides menu. You have your choosing of sides from honey biscuits, corn, rice, mashed potatoes, corn bread, etc. It's pretty much fast food southern food just like popeyes and KFC. They have others stuff other than just plain 'ole chicken like craps and sandwiches which are all ok. The stand is conveniently located within the Pearlridge Uptown food court area. I think they make a pretty good blend to the rest of the foods down there. You cannot go wrong with southern food to add to the mix of American, local, Chinese, Korean, Filipino establishments down there. The staff and customer service is good. The prices are pretty decent too for what you get and what they give. Yelp 365 Challenge #304/365

Best biscuits ever! We arrived around 940 AM on a sunday. They usually open at 10, but the manager let us order early. Good service and good food!

I was pleasantly surprised when I had their chicken. I liked it better than Popeyes. So crispy and juicy on the inside. Their biscuits are even better than Popeyes. I would even go far as to say that they almost taste like the cheddar biscuits from Red Lobster...yes I said Red Lobster. While I was waiting for my food, there were at least 3 people ordering JUST BISCUITS. That was before I got my food, and after I ate it I understood why people were only getting the biscuits. If you haven't tried Church's Chicken you must.

UPTOWN When I'm in the area, I like to hit up Church's Chicken. Church's Chicken is located in the Pearlridge ("Phase 1") "Uptown" Food Court. It's on the same side as Charley's. THAI CHICKEN WRAP I'm addicted to Church's Chicken Thai Chicken Wrap (with a scoop of rice inside). It's pretty simple and a bit similar to McDonald's Snack Wrap with Sweet Chili Dipping Sauce, except better. The flavor of the chicken (Church's) is better and more "real chicken" tasting. And the added rice gives the wrap a bit more sustenance, which I like. BTW, the name is a bit misleading bc the wrap isn't Thai. The "Thai" probably comes from the "Thai" sweet chili sauce that's in the wrap... But whatever, it's still good. HONEY-BUTTER BISCUIT Church's Chicken also has these amazing Honey-Butter Biscuits. They are highly addictive and über tasty. It's something you gotta try at least once. But I'm warning you, it's difficult to have just one. OKRA & POPPERS I intending on trying more of their items. I've heard great things about the okra and jalapeño poppers, which are both right up my alley. Yelp 365 - #101/365

***QUICK TIP*** Look in the Pearlridge Magazine which is found at almost every main entrance into the mall. They have a coupon in there which is perfect for feeding a family or several people. Definitely a deal! Oh and don't forget to try the honey biscuits! Church's Chicken is located in Pearlridge Shopping Center Uptown in the food court so finding a place to sit and eat can be a mission depending on when you go. Parking is typical at a mall, you may have to circle a few times before finding parking. This place can have a line at times, depending on when you go. Service here is amazing for most of the time. The manager who took our order knows the definition of customer service. There was a few of us and we were trying to figure out the best deal for all of us. She saw us putting different combinations together to see what would work and then she called us over and insisted to help us to get the best deal possible. I loved that she took the initiative to help us because obviously she works there and she could probably help us better with her knowledge of the menu. We ended up using the coupon in the Pearlridge Magazine which was a deal! Our order was going to take about 15 minutes to get so she comped us all fountain soft drinks for waiting. Amazing service! The food was great. We got the spicy chicken and of course the honey biscuits! The chicken was a little too oily for me but it was piping hot right out of the fryer. Delicious, not dry, and full of flavor! The great thing about their breading is that I threw left over chicken into the microwave a couple of days later and the breading was still crunchy! Usually, left over fried foods into the micro makes it soggy, that's why you should toast, bake or broil it. But not Church's Chicken's breading! It stayed crispy, surprisingly. If you were to get one thing here, do yourself a favor and try the honey biscuits. Ask for extra honey if you love honey. You won't regret it especially when it's hot and fresh! Final Comments: If you're craving fried chicken and honey biscuits is running through your head, this is definitely a great place to go to. Overall Rating: "EXCELLENT" If you're shopping at Pearlridge and you haven't tried Church's Chicken yet, give it a go. At least you can say you've tried it and hopefully you'll enjoy it just as much as I have, maybe even better!

Chicken is delish but they're serving of fries is so small. Was given a big paper bag with a little less than a hand full of fries. Not worth what I paid for.

I got so excited to see a Church's Chicken at Pearlridge food court. For some reason I remember the chicken being more flavorful. The texture was crunchy and flaky, inside the meat was juicy and moist, but the flavor lacked. The biscuit that came with the meal was laden with honey flavor and crumbled when I picked it up. Mashed potato and cole slaw sides were good. How can these be messed up? I, also, got the fish sandwich...nothing like Mc D's. The fish was ok. Nothing special to order again. I guess I'll give it another try at a later time. Maybe they had an off day?

Church's makes me forget about KFC altogether. Chicken tastes way better, mashed potatoes and gravy doesn't taste as fake as the colonels. Plus the biscuits are dry and they have fried okra!!!!

So, I've heard a lot of good things about Church's Chicken. So much that the name itself is derived from the divine experience you encounter upon trying one of their fried chicken concoctions. Just to give you a fair background, I am a big fan of Popeye's. Specifically, their mashed potatoes, red beans & rice, and their "spicy" chicken strips. The key word is spicy. If you are not quite aware yet, Church's is located in the Uptown Pearlridge Mall food court--the one with other such luminaries as Bautista's, Patti's Chinese Kitchen, Pearl's Korean BBQ, and Charley's to name a few. The food court itself is very simple, what you'd expect in an indoor mall. I guess because it's Uptown it's supposed to be a little more upscale than Downtown's one--and that may be the case somewhat. The tables are kinda close together, though, giving a bit of a cramped impression. I ordered the Carolina BBQ Pulled Chicken combo which comes with mashed potatoes and honey butter biscuits, along with a drink for about $7-8. Let me tell you, the BBQ Pulled Chicken was horrible. It was flavorless, had gristly pieces, and was obviously straight out of the microwave. I didn't even finish it. The mashed potatoes were "eh." They weren't bad, I'd rate them the same as KFC's--basically they can't even TOUCH Popeye's version. However...and this is what saves this rating... the honey butter biscuits are a God-send. By themselves they get 5 stars...wow! KFC & Popeye's cannot touch the delectable, sweet, soft, crumbling in my mouth taste of their honey butter biscuit. It was so good we got an extra order of 6 biscuits to go. Being disappointed, we also got a small order of their chicken strips to compare with Popeye's. Now, when Popeye's offers their spicy strips, those are my absolute favorite for fast food fried chicken (not including plate lunch places). However, their regular chicken is just "okay." After trying Church's, I'd definitely place them above Popeye's regular fare. They had a stronger "chicken" taste to them and just overall better tenderness inside while maintaining that crispy crunch on the outside. In summary, avoid the Carolina BBQ anything. Stick with the fried chicken, and order a whole lot of the honey butter biscuits. You won't be disappointed. Next time I want to try their okra...I'm kind of hitting myself over the head with a stick for not doing so. You can actually buy jalapeno peppers from them, I got one for $0.40 to try and spice up my bbq--but it couldn't come close to salvaging it. Oh, and as a word of warning, they only accept cash. At least, when I went they did. So make sure you're not dependant on that plastic and have a few Jackson's in your wallet.

This place has the best biscuits in my opinion compared to KFC and Popeye's. Their fried okra is to die for. I absolutely love it. Their chicken is pretty tasty. The one thing that I do not like is how pricey the chicken is.

i hate to only give 1-star, but... I remember church's from a long time ago when it was in Hawaii. I used to really like it, but since its been back...so disappointed. I remember Church's being so much better. I've eaten there a few times since it re-opened and the last time, i got sick pretty bad. I don't think it was food poisoning or salmonella, but something wasn't right and it made me feel pretty awful. Maybe the oil was old or something similar. Either way, I don't think I'll be eating church's again. I'll just remember how it was long ago and keep those memories. If you still want to try here, at least the biscuits are still pretty good.

If you crave hot and spicy chicken go somewhere else!!! CHURCH'S CHICKEN WILL MAKE YOU WAIT!!! The last three times that I've visited outlet in Pearlridge Shopping Center I had to wait for my order! But today is the straw that broke the camels back! When I placed my order @ 10:49 AM, the cashier asked me I if wouldn't mind waiting for 15mins. for my order because they did not have any available and need to cook more spicy pieces. I said no, that would fine. BIG mistake!!! At 11:15 I approached the counter to inquire about the status of my order. The cashier then asked the cook and he said "5 more minutes". I did not get my meal till 11:25AM, 39 minutes later!!! I should have gone to Popeye's Chicken down the street or Pearls Korean Food next door!!! Don't get me wrong, the chicken is good, both regular and spicy, but the availability of spicy chicken is low and slow! It's the last straw for this joint! I'm going to send Cooperate a note on their SLOW service!

Say what you want but the 5 star goes to their honey biscuits. I have never tried their chicken, corn, fries, etc. I only get their honey biscuits. Yes, I love it that much.

This place makes the best fried chicken period, way better than Kentucky Fried Chicken, Popeyes etc. I just love the spicy chicken. The chicken was juicy and not dry but what made me give this place an extra star was the honey glazed biscuits, it's as good as advertised. You just have to try it, I guarantee you that you will eat more than one!!

It's been a while since I've had Churches chicken and I was surprised that there are a couple of locations in Hawaii of all places. I ordered a combo meal and when I took a bit of that delicious honey biscuits it brought back such fond memories of my travels in Texas.
