One of the best meals of our recent vacation which included Savannah and Charleston. Side salad is $2 and awesome. Osso Bucco was delicious, Pasta with Alfredo sauce and blackened chicken was excellent. The prices were insanely cheap for the quality and quantity of food. We felt like we were in a small town that would never be expected to have food like this. Definitely try it if you happen to be in this remote area of Georgia.

We visited Valentines day evening. We were passing through town. The house was full so we sat in the bar. The main serving floor was noisy. The bar was much quieter. My wife ordered a shrimp crepe. I ordered their osso buco. Both meals were excellent. The service might have been a bit slow. Our teas did not get refilled, but it was Valentines day with a full house. We will stop again our next trip through town.

Underwhelmed. Too pricy for what it is. Disappointed. Nice people but I don't think we'll ever go back.

OK so this was my third trip to the Washington Jockey Club. For the past three years I have been coming up to Raytown, Ga to attend the Peach State Star Gaze star party on the property of the Deerlick Astronomy Village. My first trip to the Washington Jockey Club was last year when I visitied thanks to the recommendation of a friend. The fred green tomatoes... to die for as was the shrimp and grits which was magical!!! Jump one year later and I was looking forward to the visiting again the Washington Jockey Club as I was at attending the Peach State Star Gaze. In preparation to my visit, I was looking for other restaurants when I came accross a review that stated that the Washington Jockey Club had been sold. This was a bit concerning to me because this was a gem of a place and I would hate to see it get ruined. So I finally got to go and I sat down and ordered the friend green tomatoes as I did the year before. To my surprise they were plated differently. I was dissappointed to find that the new ownership had an influence on one of my favorite items from the year before. On that visit, the fried green tomatoes were offered as 6 or 7 slices of deep fried tomatos with a spicy remoulade dipping sauce which was sublime. This year though, it was only 4 tomatoes on a bed of gouda grits and drizzled with spicy remoulade sauce. Not bad but I liked the previous year's version better. Next was the shrimp and grits, I had been waiting a year for this and I must admit that I was disappointed. It was niot the same as the previous year. Not bad but this time there was a whole lot more shrimp and no andoulie sausage whereas last year the dish was simply sublime. It was not bad but not what I was hoping for. A couple of days later I decided to give it another chance and returned with a few friends. We started off with some fried mushrooms which were excellent. For the main course I decided to go with the ossobucco which was more in line with the experience that I had the pervious year. The meat was fall of the bone tender and the BBQ glaze added a nice sweet but not overbearing overtone. The mashed potatoes were really tasty as weer the asparragus. Amber, our waitress was really on the ball with everything and it felt like were were guests in a home rather than patrons at a restaurant. All in all I can totally recommend the Washington Jockey Club if you find yourself in these parts of the woods. I will definitely back next year and plan to try even more offerings from this little jem in Washington, Ga.

This is a hidden gem off the beaten track, but worth going out of your way to enjoy. Owners John and Rita go out of their way to greet their guests and ensure your dining experience is a good one. You can't go wrong ordering either the Shrimp and Grits or their large ribeye. They had a special one night of some fantastic BBQ ribs- hope they have that again!

Located in a cozy building on the main square, this restaurant is sure to delight. You'll get personal service with a smile. The fried shrimp is a must, and in fact, I'd be surprised if it isn't the number one seller. It's not very bready at all allowing the true flavor of the shrimp to shine through. It's like no other shrimp you've ever had.
