Driving through Valdosta and stopped in for lunch. Our young kids were with us, so I was happy that their small restaurant space was very informal. It's made up of a few tables and plenty of counter seating. Their menu consisted of simple selections of soups, salads, wraps and sandwiches - all very reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We did have a few gripes that were a little disappointing, but nothing that completely ruined our experience. They were out of onion rings and the "sprite" that the children ordered was actually soda water. We were told they were out of syrup for the sprite. My mother selected half a Reuben sandwich, a cup of soup, and a small side salad as her "pick 3" selection, but was then told they couldn't make half of a sandwich. Okaaay... She opted for a whole Reuben with the side salad as a "pick 2" instead. When it came out, the bread was burnt. She had to send it back. My grilled chicken salad was average at best and would have been a lot better if made with breast meat instead of fatty chunks of dark meat. Our server was very apologetic about my mother's sandwich and didn't charge us for an extra bag of chips for the inconvenience. They probably won't knock your socks off, but if you're looking for reasonably priced table service and if you like the idea of supporting local business, Jessie's is a decent & friendly place to eat with a true "mom-and-pop" feel to it.
