Southern food options galore! So good! Loads of freshly cooked vegetables, proteins and desserts. It is impossible to leave here not in pain. It is a cash only, pre-pay setup, with water, coffee or tea included. For about twenty-five bucks, we fed two adults and two kids, pre-tip for lunch. Service is drink and empty plate removal only, but prompt and courteous.

Lacks choice of meats Lots of greasy vegetables Go to O'Neil's on Jackson St Take Smith Ave to Hansell St and continue onto Bartow St When you across Jackson St you will see O'Neil's People crowd into O'Neil's Country Buffet but seating is plentiful.

I love to come here for the macaroni and cheese and fresh veggies. Just a good ole hoe down of southern cooking.

Been here several times over the years. Can always count on the southern cooked fresh vegetables. Nothing fancy but reliable and reasonably priced. The service is very pleasant and everyone working there seems like they've known each other for a long time and are practically family.

I can't imagine what people who actually have taste buds find so great about this restaurant! A look at the buffet just makes me want to go "Ugggh"! Everything is the same color! Pale green or dark yellow, both vegetables and meat! Most of the meats are heavily battered and fried, revealing little meat underneath. The fried chicken has got to be from the skinniest, boniest chickens I've ever seen! After 2 thighs, I still had not had a full bite of meat, mostly bone, grizzle, and fat. The first food I tried was the cornbread, which I put a dab of Country Crock margarine (from the cup) onto. Despite the moistness of the margarine, I nearly choked to death on the coffee-ground-consistency of the bread. I quickly laid that aside. I next tried the chicken livers, but they were mostly batter, with very little meat left to even taste. What I did find was dry as a bone, and overcooked. The vegetables were overcooked to the point that every one of them was nothing more than mush. There was very little variety in color, white corn-on-the-cob, pale mushy boiled squash, instant mashed potatoes, russet potatoes boiled down with butter into a tasteless soup. The boiled macaroni was smothered in a sticky, stringy orange substance that was apparently supposed to be cheese. I could barely get enough separated to even get a fork full, it was so pasty and stringy. Giving up on the buffet foods, I went back to try the salad/dessert bar. I found a substance that was passing as banana pudding (my favorite dessert), but what I tasted was instant vanilla pudding, full of vanilla wafers, but lacking in any real bananas! Out of two enormous scoops, I could only find two banana slices. There was nearly 3 inches of white meringue on the top, with little else underneath it. I couldn't finish more than a couple of bites. I also tried a couple of canned peach slices from the fruit cocktail tray. They were so bitter, I only ate the one. I had noticed some cottage cheese on the salad bar as I passed by from getting my dessert earlier. I got a small bowl, but quickly found it to be just as tasteless as the rest of the food, even though it was obviously taken from a store container. Getting in and out of the place was not only near-impossible, it was dangerous. Outgoing traffic on the west side of the parking lot had crossed over the incoming lane, blocking the cars from entering, causing everyone to be stuck in the middle of the intersection, blocking the eastbound lanes. I sat through 2 light changes before someone finally stopped letting cars cross in front of them (we had the right-of-way), allowing us to actually clear the intersection and enter the parking area. Even then, it was only because someone began honking their horn behind the car who was determined, apparently, to clear the parking lot, oblivious to the danger they were creating behind them! The only good thing I can honestly say about the entire meal was the ice tea. It was pretty good, and my waitress refilled my glass twice, even though I had only taken a few sips out of what she poured the first time! It was the only item I finished completely! The staff was extremely busy, polite, and kept the buffet supplied steadily, assuring no one was denied a chance at any dish being served. The tables were cleared immediately, and wiped clean immediately, ready for a new seating. Miss Mary was visible and available throughout my entire meal. One need only look around at the patrons to see exactly who this food appeals to. Aside from the few elderly individuals who were there for the cheap price (I was told they get quite a discount!), the place was packed with grossly over-weight individuals (I'm 205 lbs, and I was the SMALLEST person in the place, except for the little kids!), many of them needing walkers and canes to get around with, waddling with back and leg issues, despite being quite young. I doubt any of them were actually tasting anything I saw them shoveling into their mouths. I will never set foot into this place ever again. The food is just tasteless! I'm only giving it a single star because the staff and owner (Miss Mary) are lovely people! But the food totally sucks!

Love this place!! The old-time Soutbern cuisine is featured on a very inexpensive buffet here. It reminds me of how my grandmother used to cook, with prices that also remind me of times gone by. This is clearly the best value in town; I had to make myself quit eating b/c it was just that delicious! We stop here whenever we are in Thomasville!

As good as it gets for good southern veggies. Everyone of them on the buffet are cooked perfectly and you can tell they are fresh. The sweet tea is really sweet. The fried chicken is also on point.

I am in heaven. Veggies were perfect. Fried chicken tasty. Inexpensive. Friend said the salad bar was freshest she ever had. Try the turnips! Even the kids liked it

One of three great southern restaurants in Ga that we visit. Each special. Here, buffet with lots of vegetables and meats. Wilkes Boarding House in Savannah with lots of bowls passed between family and new friends. Blue Willow Inn in Social Circle Lovely old Southern home with wonderful buffet. Can't go wrong with any one of the three. Can't pass The Market Diner without stopping even if we just ate. I love vegetables. My husband loves the fried chicken. Once saw a friend eat 19 chicken legs. Probably would have eaten more but we started laughing. Don't miss this experience.

Are you able to imagine eating in a restaurant every day it is open? Believe it or not th Market Diner is that kind of restaurant and has at least one customer who eats lunch there seven days a week. (initials are DAS) Miss Mary not only has a great restaurant, but a huge group friends who are regular customers. The only downside is that you have to have self control to avoid weighing....well let's just say way too much. If you are driving anywhere near Thomasville Georgia, don't miss the Market Diner.

It's incredible how consistently good Market Diner is across everything they put out on their buffet. Normally when it comes to Southern buffets (and I've been to a ton of them all across the South over the years), you learn the quirks and the specialties of the place. At one, the fried chicken might be the star. At another, they might have a killer veggie selection. Yet another might do a special apple crisp. But at Market Diner, everything approaches the "wow" mark. The fried chicken is lean, tender, juicy, with just the right amount of batter. The pot roast is the best I've ever had, anywhere. The veggies are seasoned nicely and always garden fresh. And the variety is simply astounding - every conceivable Southern veggie imaginable, and it's likely to be on the buffet if you can get it fresh that time of year. So why only 4 stars? Well, it really should be 4.5 stars, because I have had better Southern food, but only at two places in the entire country - Jones Kitchen in Jesup, GA, and the Wilkes House in Savannah, GA. That said, Market Diner is still worth a drive from anywhere else if you aren't going through those two towns.

Southern buffet at its best. Mind boggling choices in vegetables and ample meat selections.. The fried chicken is delicious. They only have drum sticks on the buffet line but your waitress will bring you white meat if you request it. Best of all it only cost $6.40 per person. Good comfort food spot.

They serve the best fried chicken. The vegetables are always fresh and tasty, try the squash and the okra and tomatoes. Save room for desserts the banana pudding with meringue and the peach cobbler is yummy. You'll leave the restaurant with a full tummy.
