My husband and I were in the area visiting for a few hours and wanted to grab a drink and something to eat. Our last name is Byrne, so naturally we love visiting anywhere Irish and saw that Kevin Barry's had great Yelp reviews. When we walked in the door, we felt like we were in an authentic Irish pub (neither of us have ever actually been in one, but have seen enough movies!). It was lunch time, so the bartender told us the second floor was quite busy and that we could sit at the bar. Although from seeing other reviews, I wish I would have gone upstairs just to see the dedication to our soldiers, but I am so glad we sat at the bar. Our bartender and staff were amazing, the locals were fun, and the other tourists added so much more to our experience. We ended up not exploring more of Savannah because we loved it here so much. The food was even amazing. My husband had the Irish Stew and I had the Reuben and we both liked our dishes. We also started with the pickle chips were delicious and highly recommended! The only thing I wish I would have done is tried the Chatham Artillery Punch after I read how great it was. We will definitely visit Kevin Barry's next time we are in Savannah!

Nice looking bar, right on the river, with a fun selection of cocktails and a moderate draft list. Horrible experience with the bartender on 6.11.15, who seemed completely uninterested and aggravated that she had to wait on us. Not sure what the target clientele in the middle of the day is, but we clearly were not it.

A nice place to grab a drink. Irish pub that's not pretentious. Normally have some nice live music that is traditional. Food leaves something to be desired. Stick with buffalo tenders and shrimp if you get something, very tasty.

I have found a new local hangout!! Right on the river front, Kevin's is an unpretentious and down to earth establishment with a nice atmosphere, varied menu, and lots of space. I had the Buffalo tender wrap, which was good except most of the Buffalo sauce was on one side of the wrap. The drinks were well poured and there seems to be a nice variety of bottle and draught beer. I was extremely impressed to find that no one under 21 is allowed in after 7 PM; this is nice for those of us out to enjoy the night without having to deal with children, toddlers, or infants!! Music every night at 8, throw in great bartenders Brian and Sasha and it can be a great experience.

Lovely little Irish pub great view from the top balcony. Live music going on in the evenings. Cool pictures and memorabilia on the second floor. There are two bars.

Fun place for a late night snack and drink! Walking distance from my hotel and on the river. Grabbed the sampler and a few beers. They do have a full bar. Bartenders are good looking and knowledgeable!

The 2nd floor is dedicated to our military service heroes, KIA and MIA. Also the Irish immigrants who settled and worked in Savannah. Also, they pour a mean Guinness!

Great food and atmosphere! Had the Irish beef stew and the shepherd's pie, both were excellent. Drinks were great.

Great bar has a section on the side for musical artists. Good variety of distinct beers and a traditional Irish section on the menu. Place is open on Monday night at 10:47pm - wahoo!

Stepped in one evening and had the most delightful dinner. Great atmosphere and the food was spectacular. I had the Bangers & Mash while my wife had the Irish Sampler (Beef Stew, Corned Beef & Cabbage, and Shepherd's Pie). Mine was incredible. We each sampled them others fare and agreed it was great. The only let down for us was the corned beef and cabbage. It was not bad, but coming from an Irish kitchen we felt it should have been seasoned a little more as it was kind of bland. The rest completely made up for that one shortfall. We were just a bit too early for the live entertainment which starts at 8pm every night. Next trip we will plan accordingly.

Gretchen and Becca are awesome!! Lots of fun!! Wish they brought me pizza too!! Drinks are great and I appreciate the military tribute on the second floor. Be sure to visit our favorite bartenders!! Tara is a great PR manager!! Can't wait to be back!!

Love this Irish bar! It's dark, friendly, comfortable.... We visit every time we are in the area. There is a cozy area around the bar - an upstairs area to view the river- a military memorial wall to visit - and a dinning area. We usually order appetizers and we have never been disappointed. (Wings, onion wings, combo platter)

Stopped here with my wife after a long walk around savannah and we were staying at bohemian jut upstairs. Around 3pm we walked in for a pint and there was a vagrant who greeted us at the door. We bellied up to the bar and then the most foul smell hit us....a mix of stale water with mold. Really made me experience just bad and wish they would try to counter this with some kind Of air purifier or something. Bar tender was nice and on point and that was the saving grace. Pint of Guinness was not perfect, but I only hold those expectations to the real Irish pubs in North America

Very good! Had the burger and a cup of potato soup. It's such a pretty view while eating.

This place is great. Had the Reuben and the fiancé had the shepherd's pie. Shepherds pie tasted awesome. Reuben was great too. Also recommend the onion rings. Great spot to anyone looking for a low key true pub feel!

The Gouda Mac and cheese bites are on point! I only know this because of Gretchen! I come to this place to see her. She always makes me laugh! Don't ever let her go!

First the good: Shepard pie and pretzel bread were awesome. Great drink options. Now the bad: fish n chips not great. Fish tasted frozen. Irish stew was mostly broth. Hardly any veggies. Overall nothing special.

I was back in Savannah for the first time in years for a conference, and where did I end up eating, just the place I ALWAYS go when I go to Savannah. The Guinness just tastes better there. They serve it at the proper temperature, they pour it correctly, and they use a Guinness pint glass. A perfect pour, too. The fish and chips are still the best in town. The slaw was a little weird but the fish was crispy, not greasy at all, and the chips are thick-cut and breaded just right. The prices have gone up since the last time I was there, but it's worth it.

Love this place! Always make it a must to stop by every time we visit savannah. All of the staff is always super friendly from the moment u walk in. Food is also excellent. Moving to savannah in July and will def make Kevin Barry's a regular hangout.

Overpriced, mediocre food. Go to Molly Macpherson's or Six Pence.

This bar is absolutely terrible. Advertised as the best new LGBT friendly bar on Historic River Street, but it is definitely NOT LGBT friendly. The owner clearly supports traditional marriage. My partners and I thought it would be a great post-LGBT convention hang out. It is not. Food is of marginal frozen food quality (think Super Wal Mart giant bag of chicken tenders) and is priced to take full advantage of the tourist crowd. Clearly no money is reinvested into the establishment but it lacks the charm, uniqueness, and authentic nature of a dive bar. No LOCALs go to Kevin Barry's which I found out afterwards when I met some more men at Club One. Avoid this place. Terrible.

I've been to Kevin Barry's several times while in Savannah for work. They pour a great pint of Guinness!! Brian is a fantastic bartender, and live music is a treat

AMERICA!!! I actually got choked up at this bar. They have an upstairs called Heroes Hall that has pictures of soldiers killed in action....talk about wow factor...they serve a beer called service for every beer poured they donate a portion to the wounded warrior program...needles to say we stayed here for a while, after all it was for a good cause. The view was phenomenal from the second floor. We have the pita and hummus dip app which was great. The chips were puff pastry like and warm, highly recommend it. I am so happu there are places like this open.

Visited this place because I've heard nothing but great things about it. Was extremely disappointed with how Chris treated us. It took him almost 10 minutes to get to us at the bar and when we ordered drinks, he complained that we didn't "get something simple like bud light". The music was great in the listening room, but the the bartender just seemed poopy about people being there. It wasn't something I would expect from a place like this at all. I would hope not all bartenders who work here are this disgruntled.

Great Irish-like pub with a lot of alcohol to choose from and friendly service. I really liked how dark and dank the atmosphere downstairs was. Perfect place to have some drinks during the day. If you go, be sure to check the upstairs, which is sort of dedicated to the men and women who have served this country. Some of the photos will make you feel good, while others might give you some watery eyes. If you enjoyed the Band of Brothers series, be sure to check out the photos and signatures they have from some of the actual heroes that were portrayed in the show.

I'm at a conference and needed a quick place to grab lunch. I stepped into Kevin Berry's and ordered the bangers and mash. It was outstanding. The service was quick and friendly. Taking a group back later for drinks.

We visited Savannah for the New Years holiday and found our way to Kevin Barry's each night. The drink selection is great and the food is great. Really tasty pub food. Neither my partner or I eat French fries and so we were really impressed with the options for sides. The atmosphere is comfortable, the live music is cozy, we will definitely be back. If you're at the downstairs bar, look for Brian, he'll take care of you - he was great when we were there!

I have lived in Savannah for 5 years, ate at Kevin Barry's pub for the first time tonight, and I must say that it is the worst place I've eaten at in downtown Savannah. When we first walked it the place was empty and there was no one at the door to greet us. We made our way upstairs and found a table. Our waitress came over to take our order and that was probably the last time we saw her all night. I think she maybe checked on is once. We waited well over an hour for food in an empty restaurant. The food was mediocre at best. My husbands fish and chips were cold, greasy, and over cooked. My "irish" beef stew would have been better if I had gotten it out of a can. When it finally came time for us to pay and leave the staff still never came by and I had to go to the bar myself and ask for the check. I will not be eating here again. Poor service, bad food, and way overpriced.

Ordered 2 house salads and an order of chicken wings to share. The baby carrots on the salad were either old or stored improperly they had a white coating on them. As I;m picking them out I noticed several of the grape tomatoes had mold on the stem end. I pointed it out to the server, who offered to bring different ones but I declined wondering what else they don't notice. The wings were OK. We wanted a light lunch and that's what we got.

We attended an Informal Ice Breaker last night at the bar & restaurant. The bars top floor is a Memorial for Service Members Fallen. Active & Retired Rangers & other Military Members. The food was excellent and it was wonderful to meet and remember Military Friends, from 1st Battalion 75th Regiment's 40th Reunion .

Cool look, warm beer and the bar smells so bad. It literal smells like old bar rags and stale beer. Ugh. Ordered a pint drank two sips and left.

My fish (and chips) were smaller than your average chicken tenders. I was highly disappointed. For almost $15 I expect better, much better. Also, for $9 I expect more than 5 onion rings (normal sized...not at all the 7-10in as claimed in the below comment). Our waitress was awesome, but I'll never go back.

Excellent food & service. I had the Corned Beef Cuban sandwich and it was amazing. My husband had the Reuben & it was also delicious. The kids had Pasta Primavera & a burger. They were both happy. The sweet tea & draft Guinness are great. Great experience. Beautiful view of the Savannah River. Kids aren't allowed in the downstairs bar area (21 & up), but they have seating available upstairs.

Come for the drinks and live music. Leave the food to the other restaurants in Savannah. I stop in to Kevin Barry's almost every time I'm in town. The bar does have a great Irish feel to it, and the Irish musicians/bands I've seen here do not disappoint. When it comes to ordering food however, the service is very slow. Food itself is not bad, but also nothing to write home about.

bartender wasn't happy to be working on st pattys weekend and made that known to everyone there saying she was annoyed hours ago...just stayed for one drink; wouldn't want to annoy her with our presence

There were a lot of things I really liked about this bar, but if I had to choose a few, my favs were location, service, view, nice space. The dark bar certainly looks as historic as it sounds with obvious lighting and a/c that was added after the fact. They offer a dinner show, and the best part is the Hall of Heros upstairs. I got a lump in my throat and continued happy down the strip enjoying my freedom. Would love to come back.

Awesome Irish bar. It tells you something that there are often actual Irish folks here. Great music, lots of variety. Location is awesome, obviously. Have really only eaten the wings (which are great) but the menu has lots of British/Irish offerings. Terrific bartenders (especially Brian). Can't say enough about this place.

Ok, so I'm back for an update. First, I have to say that customer service was excellent. Our waitress was very nice as were the bartenders and the other waiters. The food was delicious. I had the Irish Sampler and all 3 of the meals on my plate were amazing! I especially loved the Shepherd's Pie. The beef stew was very rich and full of flavor and the corned beef and cabbage was quite a tasty treat! Tons of flavor in everything. My husband had the bangers and mash and let me try a bit of that as well and it was great! For our appetizer, we had the Irish Spring Rolls. Oh my were those good! It comes with a creamy horseradish dip and even though I am not a fan of horseradish, I loved this dip! Great flavor and not too much on the horseradish. We had a total of 3 waiters who consistently checked up on us to make sure that we had everything we needed. Definitely a HUGE step up from my previous review. I'm sure we will be back another time. I would definitely recommend to a friend, now.
