So recently Lucia's began serving brunch on the weekends. The wife and I stopped in to grab some brunch this past Sunday. What a treat. As usual we were not disappointed. The menu is not vast but there is plenty from which to choose. You want grits, potatoes, pasta? All there. Adult libations can be had after 12:30 PM on Sundays. On this visit, the better half had a veggie frittata topped with goat cheese and I had a skillet. The skillet comes in an eight inch cast iron skillet and they are totally customizable. I had mine made up with potatoes, mushrooms, red bell pepper, onions, topped with 2 perfectly poached eggs. These dishes were delicious! If there was any blemish on this meal was that my side of bacon only came with 2 slices. I can see us here for brunch in the very near future.

They just started serving breakfast/brunch on the weekends and it is beyond amazing. There were so many great options it was hard to choose but we settled on chicken & waffles and their take on Eggs Benedict (poached eggs with crispy prosciutto on grilled Italian bread with "pink" hollandaise...hollandaise with a little bit of Lu's famous red sauce). Great prices on mimosas, bellinis and bloody Mary's at only $5. Can't WAIT to come back and try a breakfast pizza or signature Italian breakfast skillet!!

The main thing which prompted my review was the fact this manager has something to say to most people who did not enjoy their experience and its not on the side of apologetic half the time. So as far as the restaurant goes, great atmosphere however my experience was poor in regards to service and food. The waiter didnt appear for quite some time after we sat down, so we just waited.. I tried to remain positive but once we finally were served my sauce was incredibly bland and the servings sparce. I ordered a viehl dish, the meat was actually good so at least there was that. My nagging thought in regards to the meal though was "filler carbs" and very little substance such as protein or even just flavor from the sauce. I remember my side was noodles of some sort, I'd tell you the name but there was no flavor, just noodles. All this and unfortunately $16 per pop. My friend was also disappointed. Btw The free bread was dull, could have been true garlic bread you would think? I left unhappy which isn't often. Go to Scallini's. I was thrilled with their food. Final note: East Cobb is full of mediocre restraints that cater to people too rich to cook themselves, so perhaps this is another example of one of those restaurants although I may go back to try the pear or Aegean salad since it receives so much praise. Tried to be fair here.

Always great food- the pear and walnut salad is so delicious!! I've tried most of the appetizers and I have been pleased every time! A little pricey- but as momma always said cheap stuff usually isn't good and good stuff usually isn't cheap- so worth every penny!!

I think I found my favorite local Italian Restaurant. I've been passing by the restaurant for the last 5 years, never stopped to check it out, I was craving for a good Italian food, so there I was at the restaurant, greeted by beautiful girl in a black boots and I was told 15 minutes wait for the table, well the table became available within 5 min so we were seated, I've ordered build your self pasta, Spaghetti with bolognese sauce meatball and Italian sausage (might have been an over kill) with Italian Sausage with lentil soup, my friend he ordered pan fried Tilapia with the soup. Almost immediately after we ordered the bread came, with chopped olive, my friend thought it was chocolate "really?" anyway the olive wasn't too salty, it was great to spread it on the bread. the soup arrives, plenty of chunks of vegetables and the sausages, it was very tasty. My pasta was amazing, it wasn't waterly, it tasted like they had cooked it per order (many Italian restaurants pre-cooks the pasta and heat them up in boiling water before they serve, but this was freshly cooked not quite aldente, but it was good, the meat sauce was rich in flavor, well seasoned but not salty, it was delicious, but the Italian sausage was over cooked and charred. My friend said his fish had a interesting taste (interesting is not good... in his polite way, interesting is bad), he said he couldn't tell what the seasoning was, so I tasted a small piece of the fish, it wasn't bad, it was good, it looked like it had some bread crumbs with Italian seasonings and some parmesan cheese over tilapia, cooked over frying pan and then baked in the oven for few minutes. I would have given a five star but the charred Italian sausage was bad.

everything here is really good. tried it out a few weeks ago looking for a new Italian place and now it's my new favorite!!! love that you can build your own pasta. everything is large portions too and make for great leftovers!! chicken parm is really good too.

I go to Lucias pretty frequently because the food is great and the portions are quite large. I enjoy going there for dinner but in my opinion it's an even better lunch spot. The walnut pear salad is incredible and adding chicken makes it a perfect lunch entree. As many others have said, however, I wish a starter salad still came with an entree as it used to. But other than that the bread is always fresh and warm and their wine specials are excellent! I would definitely recommend Lucias for someone who's interested in a casual dining experience with more sophisticated food. Also, the spumoni ice cream is the perfect light dessert to share after a nice lunch :)

Walnut Pear Salad... The Best! Lucia's is a reliably good Italian restauant. Delicious entrees, ample portions ... but the reason I come back is for their amazing salad. The walnut pear salad is just so good, I sometimes order it with grilled chicken, for a main course. Last visit, I had eggplant parm. Very good. Instead of pasta, I ordered brocolli. While crisp, it was bitter. Something was off. My husband's go-to dish here is chicken francese. They do a great job, as they do with most entrees. Lucia's has been in business for a number of years. It's one of our neighborhood favorites. April 2015 Update: I deducted a star. Down to three. I don't think Lucia's is as good as they used to be. PLUS -- and this is a big plus -- entrees no longer come with starter salads.

Food here is very good!!! We get takeout from here atleast 2x a month (we have a small infant so we do take out often). I wish they would put the short rib paparadelle on the menu permanently - it's sooooo good!

Amazing Italian food with wonderful specials! I highly recommend the sangria. It's so refreshing and delicious! All of the portions are so large which make for wonderful leftovers. The owner always stops by our table to thank us for our years of patronage, and chats. Never wait too long and service is always spot on!

I loved this restaurant until they restructured the menu and made everything a la carte. Their walnut pear salad is great but was an added bonus in the previous structure; now it is an add on that makes the main course over priced.

This is close to our house, so a few months ago we just ordered a couple salads w/ chicken & shrimp b/c we needed something quick. The salads were big, fresh, tasted great, and they put awesome bread in with the order. We order that a few times a month now. Good stuff.

Went here once many years ago and loved the food, it was more formal dining then. They seems to have made the place more "rustic", but they kept the higher more "formal" dining prices and the food quality has seemed to take a hit. Honestly the tomato sauce had no flavor and felt like canned tomato sauce with tomato paste added. The chicken parm breading also lacked taste and seem like store bought bread crumbs just coated on the chicken. The best food was the bread, the rest was just OK and for the money not really worth it.

I love this place. Tim and crew run a great restaurant -- neighborhood feel, just the right size, great food. The walnut and pear salad is just killer. Great pizza and pastas -- reasonably priced.

I have tried multiple times to give this place a chance, and after three tries, I surrender. Food was without visual appearance, bland, and otherwise very forgettable. For real italian and a wonderful experience there is a place in town lake on a hill that's blows this out of the water. Sorry, but true. I see this rave reviews and scratch my head and wonder if these people have ever been served a real meal that has presentation flare, and flavor, served by people who know what good food is, and know what good service looks like. Don't waste your money. You will most likely walk out hungry and disappointed. I do have a right to review your place Tim! Factual is the food was less than adequate, your prices were high and the service was less than I am used to. There is no hidden agenda, just being honest and not sure what you mean about my place. I don't own a place, I just like to eat at good ones.

Very friendly local restaurant.... loved the relaxed atmosphere and the food is very flavorsome. The Lasagne is gorgeous.... Definitely on the "must go back soon" list

One star is to many for this place. The food and service was horrible. It tasted like most of the food came from a freezer and just mircowaved. The egg plant parm. was horrible it tasted like it was frozen then burned and to cover it up they dumped a ton of nasty spaghetti sauce on top. Then to top it off when the waitress asked how it was I said it tasted gross and she said "that's good " and walked away. We also had to ask for the wine we ordered and water refill from the manager because she never brought either to the table. There are several places cheaper with better food.

Lucia's is smaller than it looks from the outside. Our server had wore a flannel shirt which didn't fit the ambiance of the restaurant. We ordered mozzarella caprese as an appetizer. After some time had passed, she said they ran out of mozzarella and we had to choose something else. How can an Italian restaurant run out of mozzarella on a Saturday evening? We ordered the calamari which was overcooked. I ordered the Aegean Pasta which was really good and the portion size was big enough for leftovers. I probably wouldn't dine in again but would definitely order the Aegean pasta as a pick up/to go meal.

nice neighborhood italian but i've tried much better for the same price or less. Black olive dip brought with the bread was really good. Service was very nice.

Used to be my one of my favorite places but they changed their menu scheme. Salads used to be included in the meal. Now you have to pay $6 for them making their meals way more expensive than what they really should be. Now they're in the same price range as a better Italian restaurant called Sophia's so between the two of those restaurants, I'd suggest Sophia's.

This gem is only a few minutes drive from our home. It always appeared a bit fancy and expensive from the outside. My wife and I went here for our anniversary and were very pleased. This looks to be a family run restaurant which is a plus to me. Our server, Mark was excellent and made us feel very special. The rest of the staff appeared to be very attentive to the diners needs. It wasn't too crowded inside and had mostly older patrons. Our food was wonderful. In fact there was so much that we each had food to take home. We will certainly return here again in the future.

This is one of the area's finest restaurants! We eat here a lot, and when the ladies meet for dinner, this is our go to place! We sometimes even order to go, and never once has the meal been even just good. It is always excellent. The service is always to perfection, and we love their bread and olive spread is something we usually ask for extra . When in a group, there are many different things we order, and of course at times, we share some of the food, which means we have tried many menu items. Everything is fabulous, and I honestly can't think of any place that offers so much, with such convenience!

  • Jason C.

Great food! Also a great place for date night. The service is fantastic and you will not be disappointed. It's a little pricey but well worth the money, plus you are supporting a locally owned business vs. a large chain. Go for lunch or dinner!

Much better on the second visit. For a romantic New Year's Eve the wife and I came for dinner. As before the bread and tapenade was excellent. We also tried the calamari appetizer which was tender and flavorful. With two meal items on the table we still didn't have bread plates and had to explicitly request them. Our waiter was very apologetic and otherwise very friendly and prompt on the refills. The Caesar Salad was great and for the entree I tried the special: a veal meatloaf on mashed potatoes with a wine reduction and garnish of fried red onions. The skins of said onions are not conducive to tenderness and were a bit difficult to cut and eat, but as an accent it didn't affect the flavor. The veal was tender with just the right crisp in the crust and the wine reduction was an excellent compliment to the generous portion. Two minor detractors were the severely wobbly table and food-stained paper menus.

An italian restaurant that over cooks pasta it is not italian. Unfortunately, i did not have a good experience with the pasta dish (seafood). However, my wife's scallops with risotto were pretty good!

We've been going to lucia's for several years and this is a very good Italian restaurant with excellent staff. Menu doesn't change much but the core offerings are excellent. And they now have gluten free pasta and pizza so we can bring one of our children who has celiac's. A bit pricey but they are going for more an upscale feel (something that is a bit risky given the economic environment).

  • Sterling L.

This is a nice little Italian restaurant with bar. There's an early bird special before 6:00. We've been here probably a dozen times. I enjoy the red sauce in their Veal Parmesan and lasagna. There's a light menu for the wife. They don't take American Express. The Olive tapenade they serve with the bread is good.

The food's usually great, what pulls from the experience is the wait staff needs a lot less attitude.

  • Jerry P.

This to me is pretty simple. Lucia's is fine all the way around. But, for me there are 3-4 Italian Restaurants within a 5 mile radius that are equal in food quality at roughly half the cost. So I would rather drive a few miles and eat out twice as often. There is nothing special that would cause me to go there.

  • Simone M.

Probably one of the worst Italian restaurants I've ever eaten at. Pasta was way overcooked and mushy, sauce had no flavor and it was completely over priced. Had better pasta at the mall! Will not go again.

I was in the mood for spaghetti. Many restaurants are not offering it. Their yelp menu shows a 'build your own' spaghetti for $10.99. I was intrigued. Took my date there and realized that there were added fees. Not cool. Food was not intriguing. Will not return.

Great bang for the buck! Good food, good service, priced right. Bar is small, but well run. Food is really Italian and there really is a 'Lucia'. If you want good, casual Italian. Go.

I have been twice for friend's birthdays. The first time I went my daughter was much smaller than she is now and it wasn't a very child friendly atmosphere even at lunch time. This time we went for dinner and the experience was wonderful. It was very "Well behaved children" friendly with coloring sheets and crayons, etc. The food is very good. Especially the dessert! We had the cherry cheesecake and the heath bar cake which was amazing! I will definitely keep this in mind for a go to Italian restaurant in this area!

This place is awesome! Cannot believe i've never been. I will DEF. be going back! The calamari was the best we've ever had. Food was excellent as well as the prices. Very reasonable, very prompt wait staff, LOVE LOVE LOVE It!!!

Big fan. Eaten there a lot. You typically get a lot of food so we tend to share an entree and get an extra salad. They have wine specials early in the week. There are TV's over the small bar in the event there is something, like the Braves, you want to see.

Great place. A family restaurant in a sea of East Cobb O'Charlies-like boxes. Get the Cioppino.

Have eaten here no less than 5 times. 4 of those were for lunch. Meeting girlfriends because you can have good food, good service at a very affordable price. You can also have a conversation and not be rushed out the door. Going tomorrow.

We were passing by on our way to another restaurant and saw the sign "now serving breakfast" and thought we'd stop in. We are so glad we did!! What a great breakfast and so close to home!! The portions were large and the food delicious. Service was great and kid friendly!! The kids get to color on the tablecloths! We have eaten at Lucias for lunch and dinner and always leave happy, breakfast was just the same! We left as a full and happy family!!

Quite suburban, yes, but absolutely delicious red sauce Italian food at prices 1/3 less than they would be if the restaurant was located ITP. My bf's Atlanta area family members live close to Lucia so we have been here a few times, for lunch and dinner. Some of our group's perennial favorites: seafood stuffed shells featuring an ample portion of scallops, shrimp and clams in a marinara sauce for $16, crispy chicken Parmesan with a side of pasta - you can even choose the shape and sauce, many layered lasagna, even wood fired crispy thin crust pizza. If you're in the Marietta or Roswell areas, try it!

My wife and I visited the Lucia right after they moved to their current location. My wife being full blooded Italian from New York, we expected something great. She ordered ravioli and expected at least 6, should have been 7 New York style. She got four. My wife's Italian friend also agreed the sauce tasted like puree. We live in Brookfield Country Club formerly known as Brookfield West. We approached management and wasn't even given the courtesy of a reply. How you can say this place is the greatest thing since sliced bread is beyond me. Can't tell you how many friends we have steered away from the restaurant and for that matter the money that we have spent in other restaurants in that time.

  • Kischa J.

This place is good. My very favorite thing about this place is that they offer alternatives to pasta - zucchini pasta and spaghetti squash and have a host of gluten free dishes. Also, the hot, fresh made bread with olive tapenade is great. Heads up on the parking situation - it's tough to find a parking spot on the weekends. You'll have to park in the lower lot and walk a bit.

Each time we've come for dinner we've been pleasantly surprised. Tonight I had lasagna and it was a delight. My husband is set he gets fettuccini with red sauce. We love the chopped salad too.

One of my very favorite neighborhood Resteruant. This is real Italian. Tim and his staff do a great job of serving up real Italian fare. The chicken Marsala is my favorite off all time. My wife loves the lasagna. You must try their house salad, pear, gorgonzola cheese and pecans. Enjoy!

My fiancée an I just moved to the neighborhood and were trying to find a good Italian restaurant since we learned Mirko had closed. We were taken in by the new building and nice decor but the food could use some work. The risotto balls were good, however, the sauce was served in what appeared to be a takeout container. I ordered the fettuccine alfredo for dinner and the portions were huge but the alfredo sauce tasted as if it came from a jar (very bland). I actually make Alfredo sauce at home remarkably better. The service was good but the food was just alright.

This place is excellent, and the service is wonderful! They fit a group of twenty of us in last minute for a wedding reception when our expected venue fell through. The appetizers were especially good; the marinara with goat cheese and the portabella toast were my favorites. The owner was very kind and helpful, and the servers were super sweet and fast. The sauces were great; they had a little bit of bite that made them unique. We couldn't be happier.

Portobello mushroom appetizer is amazing. Italian salad is huge easily split between 2 people.

The goat cheese and marinara sauce to dip the warm bread in is amazing. I would eat a bowl of it by itself. We will be back soon!

Okay so I'm Italian. I grew up in Brooklyn in the 70's and 80's. my grandmothers cook Italian. My parents own the best Italian restaurant in Florida. I come to Lucia's as a treat once in a while. So I had the prince Edward mussels for appetizer (amazing), followed by Caesar salad and now I'm working on the most delicious lasagna I've ever tasted. I am actually not typically a fan of lasagna. But here is a different story. It's all about the sauce for me. And this stuff is ON POINT. it'll bring tears to your eyes! Go eat it NOW! If you don't love it, ill pay for your meal! Go go go. Mangia!

I had a great garden salad to start and the chicken saltimboca was fantastic with a side of broccoli. My husband got the roast chicken with potatoes and cauliflower. The chicken and cauliflower was gray but the potato wedges were a bit soggy. I really liked everything we tried but realized we didn't try any pasta at an Italian restaurant so I guess that will have to be the next visit.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
