Stopped here and got the Chicken Divan on 02/20/11 We got home and cooked it very simple and easy to cook. It lacked a lot of flavor. I would not get this dish again. I will give it another try and see if other dishes have flavor though. I do have to say thier rolls adn banana pudding were good though.

My family and I have visited the museum several times over the years and today was the second time is 6 months that we've eaten in Miss Sophie's. Now, I understand that they have a buffet on certain days, do catering, have an extensive menu and all, but they also have, what I'll call a fast food menu, only it's not "fast food".....and I don't mean that in a negative way. Located inside the Mighty Eighth Museum, to the left after passing through the main entry doors, is a small, walled off dining area, with maybe a dozen or so tables. The decor is set to match the aviation theme of the museum in the form of an English pub. Having never been to an authentic pub, I can't speak to it's accuracy but, it is nice. For us, visiting a museum and probably having other things we want to do in Savannah, eating a big, heavy lunch just doesn't make sense. This brings me to the "fast food" menu...... both times, we've ordered the all beef hot dog. Yes, hot dog....all beef, not puny, grilled (not boiled), on a toasted bun. It was excellent both times. To go with it, an order of fries.....again, not puny but big crinkle cut, hot fries. My wife and daughter are very finicky about fries and they loved them. These two items, with a drink is more than enough to curb our hunger and help us make it through the rest of the day. Yes, it is a bit slow getting your order to the table BUT, as it was explained to us by the server (very nice, very friendly) meal items are cooked when ordered. Based on these two experiences and how hot the food was and appeared to be freshly cooked, I have no reason to doubt her. It may not be true for EVERY item on the menu, but if you can relax for a few extra minutes, then why not? For us, if we're ever in the area and aren't in a giant rush to eat, we will skip all of the fast food chains located a few hundred feet away and always stop to eat here. Maybe next time we'll try the burger!

Well over priced and takes too long .... Add in waitress time and tip.

If you wanna eat while visiting the Might Eighth Museum, this is the place. They've tried to make it look like a British pub from the era, but the soaring ceilings and partial walls kinda break up the vibe. That said, the menu is really extensive, so there's something for everyone. They run daily specials, mostly traditional southern fare, and have a hot buffet. My particular meal was pretty lame. I had the greek salad wrap, which was a small wrap containing maybe 1/2 cup lettuce with some chopped cucs & tomatoes tossed in there. It was kind of pathetic. I did get their homemade kettle chips however and those were deadly good. The service was a bit odd - our waitress didn't seem to know what the menu items contained, or whether they had things in the kitchen, or what was going on, so who knows what was up with that. Thank god I had those chips!

I normally hit Miss Sophie's at least once a month to stock up on a few casseroles for when I'm not in the mood to cook or eat out. The customer service in this place is top notch. I've made last minute phone requests for items and have never been turned down and they've even baked the food for me when I was in a bind coming up with something for a work potluck. My faves are: Poppy Seed Chicken (best ever), Chicken Tetrazzini, Sweet Potato Crunch and her garlic cheese biscuits. The concept for this place is great. When you enter the shop (there is gift items for sale too) look to the right and you'll see a big board that has all the items for sale that day. There are refrigerated and frozen items so some are ready to go in the oven when you get home. There are entree casseroles along with side dishes and veggies plus they normally have some fresh baked breads or rolls and a variety of desserts. The cupcakes are really good along with the little Sophie Snacks which are single serving baked goods like lime tarts, chewy cakes, etc. I know they serve sandwiches and salads for lunch but I haven't had the opportunity to try that yet. Catering services are also offered which I would def try if I had the need based on how great everything I get there is. Btw, Sophie is the owner's dog.
