Historic Norcross is the hub to a smattering of local restaurants. We came here on the last Wednesday of the month for Mojito's bottomless mojitos deal. But unfortunately, the wait was an hour and a half too long. We were 4 hungry girls and we needed sustenance, stat. We wandered around and settled on having some good traditional Italian dinner. The menu reminded me of the chain, Bucca di Beppo, with its family-size portions. We were seated around 8:30 after an unbearably hot and uncomfortable wait outside for Mojito's. The interior and decor was very relaxing and traditional, with a very familial atmosphere. One of my dining companions noted that the huge chalkboard behind her that spanned the entire wall seemed out of place with the rest of the decor, which I had to agree with. Our server was friendly and patient as she provided us with recommendations. After her various recommendations, we put it to a vote and decided to order a half order of the garlic bread (50% off with Yelp check-in!), along with a half order of the Chicken Scallopini and the Risotto Bianco. The garlic bread had chopped fresh and fragrant garlic and olive oil drenching the bread. We each got about 1.5 slices of the bread. While a couple people in my group did not prefer the mass amount of garlic in the dish, I was glad for it! Loved it. A very different take on garlic bread that really worked for me. The entrees came a little later. The Chicken Scallopini came with a side order of "pasta," aka spaghetti and marinara sauce. That was a little off-putting to me, since the sauce on the Scallopini was Alfredo. They just didn't blend too well. The acidity of the marinara was slightly calmed down if you ate it with the Scallopini, but we could have just avoided the marinara altogether and sided the pasta with the abundant Alfredo sauce that coated the chicken. The Risotto Bianco was alright. It wasn't one of the dishes that the server recommended, but the second I saw the entree on the menu, I had to order it. The risotto was cooked well, but the flavors seemed off. Slightly bland, and not super exciting. The shrimp was nice and juicy, though. We were convinced to order one slice of tiramisu after our meal. The tiramisu was a little disappointing, with too much cream and not enough of the ladyfingers and espresso. Other than that, the flavors were alright, but I probably wouldn't order the tiramisu again. Our tab split four ways was less than $15 a person. What a deal! For what we paid, for the garlic bread, two half orders of the massive entrees and a single order of dessert, I just can't complain.

Dominick's is the only Italian place that feels like back home in Boston/Providence. There are a lot of valid interpretations of Italian cuisine but the stuff that tastes like home is always special.

This place once was great. Ate there yesterday with a group from work and the food was bland but salty, very salty chicken parmigiana and most of the rest as well. Still very very pricey as always but now you don't get food equivalent to the check.

Hands down the best Italian food I've had in my life! The marinara sauce is made there and is to die for ! I would visit Atlanta again just to eat here again! Amazing service and incredible food!

We took a short drive to downtown Norcross to visit this restaurant with high hopes that it would offer a more pleasant experience than the Downtown Lawrenceville location, but sadly it didn't. Everything about our visit was blah. The hostess was rude, the server knew NOTHING about the food, and the food itself was not well executed. To start, we weren't greeted by the hostess. She stood and looked at us until I greeted her, and asked for a table for four. At this point, she didn't greet me back, she only said "follow me." This, for me, set the tone for the remainder of our evening. Our server was somewhat friendly, and was good at keeping our drinks refilled and accommodating our needs, but she was not very knowledgeable regarding the menu. She made horrible recommendations, and after admitting that she hadn't tried most of the items, we decided to pass on her recommendations. Our food was definitely a miss. My husband's Veal Parmesan tasted like something that could be bought from the frozen food aisle. While he didn't hate it, it lacked personality, and wasn't what he is accustomed to. I went with the Chicken Dei Sessi dish. I was in the mood for pasta, so I mixed in in with the side of Penne that's included. The flavored were all over the place. The red onions were not cooked down enough, so they were slightly crunchy, this did not pair well with the Gorgonzola cheese. The sauce was too runny, and the flavors just didn't blend well. Dominick's has potential to be a great restaurant for casual dining. It's located in a beautiful, historic, downtown area, the interior is quaint, and could even be romantic, but the staff just doesn't give 100%. With professional training for the wait staff, and a little fine tuning for the chef, this place could be a hit. For now, it's mediocre at best, and I won't be returning in the near future.

Would have loved to give this place a 5 star review although the service could have been much better! First of all, Downtown Norcross is an adorable little area. Really cute shops as well as restaurants with outdoor seating. When I arrived at Dominick's I was NOT greeted by the hostess. I actually said to her "Hi there, how are you, I'll be meeting someone here so table for two". I kinda did her job for her. She was NOT friendly. The atmosphere is really nice. Tables as well as tables with booths. When my lunch date arrived we ordered the garlic bread with melted mozzarella cheese on top due to that being a check-in offer on Yelp. OH am I glad we did! The bread arrived in a 6 inch loaf nestled in garlic oil with mozzarella cheese oozing on top. It was DELISH! I ordered the lunch Sicilian Salad. When it arrived I was pleased to see that it was a large portion (skipped breakfast so super hungry). It was a chopped salad which I love with small pieces of chicken as well feta, tomatoes, small pasta, greens and a delicious dressing. It was one of the best salads that I have ever had! My friend ordered the eggplant parmigiana lunch. It was also a very good size and looked yummy! The prices were decent! My salad was $8.95. The server who coincidentally was also the hostess that I spoke about was very quick to refill our drinks although not talkative at all. Maybe she just wasn't having a good day? Not sure but you know me I like WOW service. Everything about my lunch here was super great! Just wished that the hostess/server was nicer.

Make sure that you get a half portion. The location was cool. Not much To say other than that the garlic bread was really really garlicky. This is your standard Italian food fare. This is a really intimate quiet restaurant.

I came here on a pretty off-peak time on a Tuesday night. There couldn't have been more than 10 tables that were being served by 3-4 waiters/waitresses. Right off the bat, I was excited for the angel hair in marinara sauce with meatballs! Most Italian places get them just right! Unfortunately, they didn't have too strong a taste and the marinara sauce overwhelmed the noodles and meatballs. I'd probably try something else the next time I went there. Also, it was a little hard getting refills on drinks towards the end of the meal. It was almost as if we weren't there. I know there was probably a lot going on but it still would have been nice to have a refill every now and then. The decor of the restaurant was great! It really felt like being back in Chicago/Italy town.

Grease, oil, butter, more grease, side of garlic. Be prepared to get lubed up! I'm not sure what slant on Italian they think they have, but it's not normal to serve a loaf of 'garlic bread' literally floating in some oil-butter-grease concoction. It was FLOATING like the Titanic in a golden pool of... Well pre-iceberg of course, I think you get it. I don't know how you make oily pasta, but you guessed it, I asked for a saucer and pulled a Ramsay in front of everyone and drained my angel hair pasta and meatballs with sauce in front of everyone. It tasted alright after I drained it, but it wasn't great by any means. Service the few times we've been in has been mediocre, the atmosphere looks kinda old school but a bit dirty, with nice cob webs on the lamp chains on the ceiling. Any of the waitstaff we've had are usually pretty lax, never had an automatic drink refill for example. I have also witnessed most of them lounging around the bar thing talking loudly about personal things. Lastly, they have seemingly started keeping weird hours (no lunch on Saturday?), or one day we went and they had hung a sign on the door that they were closed due to unforeseen circumstances.

Go here with your family or on a double date. It is amazing family sized Italian food for a good price. You really can not go wrong here... cute depot old Norcross downtown with free parking, little to no wait for your table and more food than you can eat. We came here tonight and there were 4 in our party. We shared a caprese salad and garlic bread to start. Then we ordered a chicken parmesean full order and a veal dish half order with one side of broccoli. The four of us could not eat it all and still had food left over. This place is intended to share family style. The food is always consistent here and the staff is wonderful about accurately and quickly spliting the bill without hesitation. We love this place, especially for groups. My brother-in-law even had his rehearsal dinner here a few months ago and the staff treated us all very well!

Outstanding Italian! They have a location in downtown Lawrenceville also, and both have been spectacular in my opinion. This is on the opposite end of Georgia for me, but we regularly drive out of the way to get here. If you're going during peak dining hours on the weekend, expect a wait, but it's well worth it. The food is delicious, seasoned and prepared to perfection every time. I like my veal/chicken parm pounded thin, tender, with a light well seasoned batter. Dominick's does it perfectly. I can't stand going to Italian restaurants where the veal/Chkn parm tastes like you're eating rubber parm instead. Dominick's knows how to do the parm the right way. The garlic rolls are devilish and garlicky, yum. I want to drive 45 mins out there now just thinking about it. I've also enjoyed their eggplant parm. This place is Italian done right.

The food is great. There sauce is delicious. Great prices. There half orders can feed three people. Nice small town feel to this place. For veterans they will take care of you.

I really like these historic areas, they have so much character. The Dominick's in Historic Norcross has plenty of that nostalgic charm. I particularly liked the vintage street lights in the middle of the restaurant. We arrived on a Sunday night for dinner. It was fairly busy and our waitress, likewise, was busy. Nevertheless, she soldiered on quite well, despite the many tables that she had to tend to. We started our dinner with an appetizer - a half-order of the arancini di riso (breaded and fried balls of risotto and mozzarella cheese served upon a spicy garlic pepper sauce). Very tasty - but perhaps a bit spicy for what one might expect from Italian food. The spicy garlic pepper sauce reminded me, in a lot of ways, of romesco - a sauce used in Spanish cuisine. For entrees, we placed half-orders of the "Dominick's Veal" (for myself) and the "Chicken Saltimbocca" (for my wife). For our pasta side, we both opted for penne alfredo. Wow, those half-orders are HUGE. Neither of us had a snowball's chance at finishing our plates. The Dominick's Veal was served over a creamy tomato sauce and was covered with slivered almonds, mozzarella, spinach, and sun-dried tomato. This was a very heavy dish - one that will provide enough leftovers to satisfy another meal. The Chicken Saltimbocca, wrapped in prosciutto, sautéed in marsala wine, and covered with mozzarella, mushrooms, and spinach was equally large and only slightly less hearty (due to the lighter sauce). The penne alfredo was exactly what you would expect - and again, portion sizes are very generous. Bottom line: Come hungry - there's enough food here to feed an army.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Norcross, this place screams home italian cooking and portions. First impressions: Interior is nice and has that tuscan vibe. Prices are high - but then I saw that there are prices for Full and Half portions. - Spicy Chicken and Sausage Casserole - Half Portion. - Arancini di Riso - Half Portion. Like a classic italian restaurant, family style would be best for trying out all their delicious food. Half Portion is like a regular portion plus more. I started with the Arancini di Riso which is basically a ball of risotto fried and dipped into marina sauce. DELICIOUS. Highly Recommend. The Half portion comes with 4 huge balls of risotto. Perfect for 2 or 4 people. The main entree, Spicy Chicken and Sausage Casserole - half portion, was plenty. I could not finish it (ate half of it) and was stuffed. I usually eat a lot so that's saying something there. Overall, great ambiance, great family feel, and great tasting food. Come with a large party or come with a friend. Go Go Go Go!

I have eaten here a few times with coworkers and was disappointed each time. Food is not up to par. Poor seasoning and lacks flavor. Red sauce is fair at best. Iced tea is instant and quite "gross". I hope someone will step in and give it the attention it needs.

We really wanted to love this place, but instead walked away with a bit of diner's remorse, given the numerous food options in Downtown Norcross. Food was pricey for average Italian. Three stars for the complimentary house bread and sauce-delish!

dominick's has always been me & (one of) my girlfriend's 'go-to' italian restaurant. even though there's 5 locations, exclusive to georgia.. this historic downtown location is our fave. the restaurant itself gives off that homey, mama's cooking type of feel. it's very warm and inviting. keep in mind that it's very different from the typical, franchised olive garden -- atmosphere and food wise. the interior is filled with an all around brick wall and lanterns to give that street vibe. the color theme of dominick's are red and white. the tables cloths are all white throughout the restaurant and the booths, chairs, and napkins are red. during the times that I did dine here, I never was very adventurous. therefore, I stuck with the ones that everyone knows (or orders) -- shrimp scampi, lasagna, spaghetti, etc., etc. food isn't the "best I've ever eaten", but the portions here fit the price. they literally serve their food (even salads and appetizers) in "half orders" or "full size". the restaurant style of dining is meant for family style. therefore, the portions are HUGE. even if you do order a half size. the 3 things that I absolutely love here would have to the.. - garlic bread (it's $1 extra to add the cheese, but totally worth it! the cheese is melted on top of a fresh loaf of bread that's been brushed with a fresh garlic butter sauce..mmm the texture and taste) - caesar salad (i'm usually picky with my caesar dressings. I don't like it to be too creamy and light or too strong, but the one here is perfect) - peach bellini (frozen style -- frozen peaches and champagne?! who can say no? oh & it's served in a generous tall glass!) service is typically good for the most part.

This was the first Italian restaurant my husband brought me to when I moved here from Chicago and complained that everyplace here was either plain food or Mexican, no Italian for certain. The food is very good. I love the chicken portobello with almonds. A half order is plenty. The bomba is our favorite dessert. Service is friendly, but not overly solicitous. That's the way I prefer it. The neighborhood is fun for wandering through. In the Summer there are sometimes concerts in the park down the street. This is where I asked him to take me for our anniversary. Go and enjoy.

Sadly, I have to bring my rating down :(. I'm not sure what happened here - different management, different cooks? I've been here twice now after my first review, and both times the food was very disappointing. Not anything like what I experienced that first time. For example, the garlic bread was crusty and the garlic was burnt. Just not up to my standards. And a note to management - please for the love of God teach your staff how to be more professional. Gossiping with each other at the front of the restaurant is Low-class, and diminishes the ambiance. It's happened EVERY time I've come in and it's not acceptable.

Had dinner here last night. Initially was turned off by the waitress constantly referring us as "Ya'll" in fact I counted 26 times. This is suppose to be an Italian restaurant not the Cracker Barrel. The environment and decor is spot on, however having someone refer to me as "Ya'll" while in this type of establishing was very annoying. Cesar salad was phenomenal! Looking around we saw other tables with bread baskets, we were not offered. We actually had to ask, kind of strange. Veal quality was less than impressive, however their marinara sauce was good.

  • Jennifer V.

The food is good and portions are large. We love the spaghetti with meatballs and spinach salad. The lasagna is ok. They serve yummy garlic bread with marina sauce included with you meal. Be aware if the server asks if you want garlic bread, and would you like melted mozarella on that? We said, sure thinking it was something new they did. Nope, that costs $4. One thing that took away from our experience was the server. The regular lunch waitress ,who has been there for years, makes my friends and I almost feel uncomfortable if we ask for anything, like we're putting her out. It is always so apparent that she doesn't want to be there. Also, they should invest in real wine glasses. The oversized shot glasses they serve wine in are annoying.

Had appetizers and drinks with my girlfriend on a Thursday. Place wasn't packed but it wasn't dead either. I would say about 10 tables at 8:00. Alex was our waiter and did an excellent job. We had crab cakes which were the best I've had in recent memory. 2 beers for me and a glass of wine for my girlfriend. We sat and hung out and felt no pressure or rushed. Just a relaxed, laid back, great experience. Just what we needed. Definitely will be back to see Alex.

First of all they didn't even give me what we ordered. We ate it anyiway because we were hungry. My whole family got food poisoning. It has been terrible.....fever, aches and all the bad that comes with food poisoning. We've called the manager 2 times and never heard back from him. DO NOT GO HERE!!! YOU WILL REGRET IT!! I haven't been this sick in 10 yrs.

I have only eaten here once. Do Italians own it and/or cook? I don't care. It's "molto buono." I went in for lunch. They had a lunch special. I had the lasagna. It was tasty. It was reasonably priced. The server, a student at GSU, was great. What else can you ask for? The other cool thing is the location. It seems that, before Atlanta got some meat on its bones, it was a bunch of these small towns along railroad tracks, and Norcross was obviously one such town. This is along an older main street type set up ... and there IS a railroad track right there. You want even more evidence of it being in a small southern town ... that has been fleshed out with McMansions? The main drag which you will probably use to get here is called Buford Highway. Would you name your kid Buford ... even in Atlanta? Not today. That's for sure. A very reliable Italian meal can be expected in this very pleasant locale!

  • David H.

The service is good, and the portions are still large, but unfortunately they've ruined what used to be the best garlic bread in GA. Instead of loaves of real bread with real butter and shaved garlic, it has been reduced to toasted hoagie rolls with either margarine or a blend of butter and margarine underneath all the shaved toasted garlic. Not worth the calories anymore, and there is far better Italian near and far.

  • Mark D.

The food is good, the wine is cheap, and the service is quality. I don't get to Dominick's often, but when I do I am not disappointed.

Very disappointed in my service last night. We have been coming to this location since 1999. Alex H was our server. He was extremely slow and extremely condescending with his tone. I have been in the industry for 14 years and it seems to me that he is burnt out on his career. He did not make me feel comfortable. So much that I will refuse for him to serve me next time. The restaurant itself seems to be lacking management. I did not see manager at all. Very sad about the direction Dominicks is taking.

  • John S.

Bang for your buck. What they lack in quality they make up for in quantity and most of their dishes are hearty and yummy. If you like basic Italian and live nearby it will probably become your go to place if it isn't already. I think at the very least every American needs a go to local place like this one for Italian. Service here is generally quite good. Lots of noisy kiddos on wknds so if you want quiet romantic go somewhere else, but this place is perfect for big groups crying babies and lots of laughter. The way Italian family dining was meant to be. Definitely one of the spots that add to the charm that is Norcross.

A worthy competitor of the Maggiano's chain. Prices and food quality roughly equivalent. I'd recommend the garlic bread and the portabello mushroom chicken pasta dish. While the chicken can be overcooked, the mushroom cream sauce (admittedly on the heavy side) is quite tasty. In general, service has been good the dozen or so times I've been here. I did have one co-worker who paid for a business lunch for a bunch of us, and had a nightmare with an over-charge. But that was the exception rather than the rule.

This place has changed owners at least once in the many years I've sampled its family-style Italian fare, but in all that time the food has remained for the most part consistent. This is a local restaurant with a great Sicilian flavor, plenty of garlic and robust red sauces full of meaty red tomatoes, oregano and basil. The atmosphere would best be described as New York Bistro - exposed brick in a converted warehouse, with photos on the walls and pressed tin ceiling. During the weekend the noise level is a bit much so I'd recommend a weekday dinner. The beer and wine bar runs along the left side where you can enjoy a glass while you wait - there is often a wait unless you go early. For dinner I've really enjoyed the calamari fritti as an appetizer, chicken parmegiana, the classic spaghetti and meatballs, baked ziti, chicken picatta, Shrimp Scarpiello, and stuffed pork chop. I also like the lasagna, however it does have a nutmeg-y flavor that some may not care for (there's also a bit of anise in the Italian Sausage that's fairly pronounced). With your entrees, make sure to get the whole loaf of garlic bread - thin sliced raw garlic, sauteed in olive oil and poured over the loaf - like heaven on a plate! The Caesar salad is often over-dressed but otherwise palatable. Service has been a little inconsistent - most of the time very good and at other times mediocre. It may make a difference depending on when you go - most of the times everyone has been very friendly and I don't remember a time when I didn't feel welcome. It's funny how an unfilled water glass can turn you a bit sour on a dining experience, but that has happened to me here. The prices are very reasonable, but parking can be a bit rough during lunch or on the weekends - there's a lot across the street if you can't get a space right in front. In all this is one of my favorite Italian restaurants, and close enough that I don't mind the drive (at least I don't have to suffer Midtown or Buckhead traffic - ugh). Downtown Norcross is actually sort of interesting - go early and you can walk around a bit - it's not large and you may find something interesting to peruse. When the restaurant is busy I'll often put my name in and walk around for a few minutes - another reason to go early. I'd eat here more often but can't afford the impact on my waistline - you end up with a full belly and lots of left-overs!

Wow! What can I say? This place was beyond amazing. For a small place in a small town, this was the best ribeye I think I've ever eaten. The service was spectacular and my drink never went dry, which is a huge deal to me. Every time a server lets my drink go dry, they lose 2% of what is a usually pretty healthy tip. But we were there with the wedding crew doing or rehearsal dinner and I'll definitely go back!

We made our first trip to Dominick's for dinner recently and found it a very pleasant neighborhood Italian restaurant. The atmosphere was casual, service was friendly, food was good for the most part, quantities enormous, and the prices were reasonable. However, apart from some spicy, fresh, fine marinara sauce -- four stars in our book -- we didn't find anything exceptional, hence the three stars. The mussels came in a good salty broth but proved too chewy and ultimately on the bland side. Calamari was fried lightly with cornmeal, we think, and we didn't much care for the grit though unlike many other places the calamari was not over-cooked. Spaghetti and meatballs ought to be a solid dish at any Italian restaurant, and that was the case here, the noodles prepared just right and with the yummy sauce and slightly spicy meatballs. The garlic bread (with or without cheese) was indeed quite tasty. The servings are huge; we got half orders and still wound up taking more than half of the dinner home. There's a respectable selection of beers and wines; the wine is served in a small juice glass, which surprised us. We wouldn't care to have an expensive Chianti served that way, but then again there's not an outstanding Chianti on the menu. So....

I've been to D's a few times. Their portions are generous. I really really liked their Sicilian salad that I ordered last time. My son likes the ravioli. The location is nice, and parking on the street is little hard but we have found a space with a little luck.

I am addicted to the garlic bread and Caesar salad!!! When you're here you HAVE to try the Dominick's chicken, it melts in your mouth! And the creme brûlée... I would come just for that everyday if I could

Went to Dominick's Norcross to celebrate a 60th Birthday, and spend some time in the charming town afterwards. Food was very good and portions large. But, veal had gristle and could not be finished. However, food is only part of the dining experience. The "attitude" displayed by our server, Sharon, left much to be desired. Two seats were already dirty before we were seated. Used plates were not removed promptly before the next course and stacked up. And, between her tone of voice and the words she said ("I already told you it wouldn't taste the same.") this is not a place I will return to. OK, to be fair, Sharon did keep our water glasses filled. It definitely was not how we expected to be treated based on all the other reviews.

Great location and atmosphere but the food is very average. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing but I thought going with the Dominick's chicken would be pretty safe. There are a lot of dinner options in the area choose something else.

Sorry but my expectations for this place took a huge nose-dive when I stuck the first bite of lasagne in my mouth. It was dry... who makes dry lasagne? Also, my wife's dinner, rigatoni or something like that. She mentioned to the waitress that the pasta was chewy, like it was old or not cooked enough. Waitress blew it off as casual conversation. I can understand one of us not having a great dinner... but both? Needless to say, we won't be back. We were really looking for some awesome Italian and figured Dominick's would be a no-brainer.

The dishes were pretty good. There's a large variety of things to choose from Three round-bellied wood-burning stoves stay busy all night turning out the huge, full-flavored, rustic-styled pies. Bring your own beer or wine (no corkage), and, if it's important to you, glassware, as only plastic is provided. The pizzas are slightly charred from being in the wood oven, and their thick crusts are so chewy and flavorful, not a scrap will be discarded. The entertainment comes from owner Giovanni Di Palma, whose grandparents hail from Naples, artfully tossing the disks of dough and stretching them with his curved fists until they're the proper thinness. They come out to the tables on large cookie sheets topped with brown craft paper. Margherita is the classic, with tomato sauce, mozzarella and basil. But we like the San Gennaro, with slightly spicy sausage and sweet peppers, and onions, all tied together with mozzarella di bufala. Get the cannoli for dessert.

I have now been to two Dominick's locations and both are superb. I came here for my birthday with my mom who was visiting from out-of-town and the food was delicious! The waiter was tentative and backed off when he realized that my mom and I wanted a slow relaxing dinner and didn't want to be rushed. I would definitely go back to this location!

From the management... to the wait staff... to the food prep, this is a little gem in Old Norcross. We ate here Saturday evening with our Travel Volleyball team and families. 30 plus people. The service and hospitality was perfect Leslie was our server and did a fantastic job. Thanks to you, for a wonderful dining experience. My wife and I split a half salad and soup. The portions are very generous. I must say, it was some of the best Pasta Fagioli I've had in years. Continued success, well done. Splendido.!

Ordered the chicken marsala and calamari fritti to go. The pasta came with garlic bread. All of them tasted delicious..I gave them 4 stars because the staff forgot to give me utensils.

We had our Christmas Staff party here last night, very good authentic Italian cuisine started with stuffed mushrooms , calamari and cheesy garlic bread all 3 dishes were very good .The service was very good considering the size of our party (15) and when the waitress mistakenly brought out 6 diet cokes(apparently they hooked up diet to the regular line .... she quickly replaced them with real cokes from the bar I had the Veal Saltimbocca with a side of pasta and found it very enjoyable , although I did think the wine sauce was a little too strong ....perhaps the alcohol had not been properly burned off ...in fact I would have the Veal Parmigiana next time instead as I did enjoy the marinara .For dessert we tried the bomba ,the mousse and the cheesecake ...the bomba was the winner .

Huge portions. Tasty ribeye, but not sure about the potatoes. Not bad, just like a sauce drizzled over them. Just ok for me. Nice ambience. Good garlic bread. Good stuff, if I weren't leaving tomorrow, I'd try on of their pastas.

Holy God, Dominick's is awesome. It's totally worth $3 for the roasted garlic and olive oil, served with a loaf of bread. (On the menu they call this "garlic bread", but who are we kidding? The garlic is front and center and everywhere else. The bread is just an exquisite garlic-delivery device. Sure, the prices nearly scared us out of our seats and over to the Waffle House, but here's the thing: when you pay $15-20 for a large entree, you're getting more than two hungry fat people can eat. I know because I'm one of them. So even with a "garlic bread", a cup of soup (reportedly as fresh as a high-school senior on prom night -- I say reportedly because I wasn't allowed to have any), and iced tea, we ended up with a bill for about $25, plus leftovers. And the baked ziti with alfredo sauce was sooo good. You could tell that the ziti had been flour just this morning. And on Wednesday nights they have all-you-can-eat pasta and sauce for $9.95 -- if you're one of those people who waits all year for a chain restaurant to offer a similar deal, get out here. It's worth the drive. If you've been reading my reviews, you know I love to find something to say about the bathroom and something to criticize. Well, this is one rare independently-owned restaurant that doesn't break the spell when you go to the can. It's all classy and well-built. So I have to criticize something else. Can't be the parking; we got a space right in front of the restaurant. OK, here's my obligatory gripe: the menu says the baked ziti is made from penne. Clearly it isn't; that would be "baked penne". The baked ziti is made from ziti. Are you happy now, gripe addicts?

Took my admin to lunch today to celebrate her company anniversary and we had a wonderful experience at Dominick's- a first time visit for both of us. Started by splitting the half gorgonzola salad- fresh, crisp romaine, a few whole rings of raw red onion sprinkled with plenty of gorgonzola and nicely dressed with a balsamic vinaigrette. A solid salad. The garlic bread was outstanding: twin mini loaves served hot and covered with thin caramelized til golden slices of whole plump garlic cloves. OMG. Awesome and decadent and absolutely drenched in oil for the full effect of garlicky goodness. I had the lunch portion of lasagna draped with fresh marinara sauce (a meat ragu was the other option and I would likely try that instead next time), and it was quite good, but absolutely huge. Two could easily split this entree at lunchtime. She had stuffed manicotti and said she loved it. A more modest/ manageable portion, but still covered in melted mozzarella and filling. Service was friendly and thoughtful, but this is not a place to go if you are in need of an express lunch. Come here for a celebratory meal and enjoy!

I am not usually an Italian food fan, but this place I could do regularly. The garlic bread is awesome; it will knock your momma, your date's momma, and the guy at the table next to you, out flat on their back every time you open your mouth afterwards, but OMG it is worth every bite. I like my lasagna with veggies and the meat sauce, but as far as meat lasagna's go - it was pretty damn decent. Nice romantic setting too, with old town thing going. Sending my folks there for their anniversary.

Now, I know that people don't go get Italian to be healthy. There's a reason that Jared did his thing at Subway and not the Olive Garden. But, man this place was a bit over the top with the oil. Everything I ordered was pretty much like the kitchen was run by BP's drilling team; oil was everywhere. Now, that said, the service is top notch and the ambiance is good. I'd say it's a locals place as a lot of people knew each other, and the host seemed to know just about everyone who walked in the door. The wine list is ok, and it's priced well. We ordered garlic bread and a caprese salad for the table. Of course, the bread was drenched in oil, but the salad was good with nice fresh mozzarella. I had Dominick's Chicken which was chicken breast sautéed with garlic, sliced mushrooms and spinach in a white wine sauce and topped with provolone cheese. The portions are ridiculously big (but you can't fault a restaurant in the states for this), and my dinner was two full chicken breasts drowning in the white wine sauce (which seemed to be heavy on the oil).

Biggest "meh" that I can possibly give. I've been to Dominick's several times now, and it's always mediocre at best. Two out of four visits they have been out of whatever dish I was trying to order, and I had to choose something else. Every other visit I've ordered something that sounded delicious, but didn't live up to my expectations. I'm not a big fan of marinara, but theirs is particularly lack-luster. The chicken piccata was soggy and unbalanced. Dominick's also needs to do a serious re-evaluation on portion size; even the "half orders" are too big (and priced to match the portion size - too expensive). I will say this: they have the best garlic bread I've ever put in my face. I'd go back from time to time just to have a loaf, a glass of wine, and maybe some cannoli. If you want real, authentic, high-quality italian food, however, Dominick's is not the place.

I work in the area and a co worker from another state had a meeting here. She raved about it. Thought I would give it a try. First, I had to try the garlic bread, simply because of the reviews here. Wow! I wasn't expecting such a huge "loaf" of bread. LOTS of olive oil (too much, actually) and shavings of fresh, cut, garlic, and then melted mozzarella cheese! Can you say "heart attack"! I ate a small piece, but it was delicious. My house salad was good too...with lots of olives and waffle-sliced carrots (a first). Next was the veal parmigiana. Tasty, but veal was not as tender as I'd like and the sauce lacked a little bit of flavor. But, it was OK. Finally, my favorite -- tiramisu. Didn't disappoint. Delicious! I give it an overall 3 star for too much olive oil, veal was not bad, but could've been better and much TOO PRICEY, especially the dinner prices!

Sad to say, Dominck's was one of the last of the restaurants in historic Norcross that my husband and I tried. We were definitely missing out on a wonderful piece of Italy!! The wine selection is average, and they serve it all the same small, basic wine cups, not to be a snob. The service is mediocre, but they do tend to be busy compared to the amount of wait staff on hand. I've never sat at the bar area, it might be worth a shot for a quicker meal. However, once you start to eat, you quickly understand why this place is so amazing. Always start with the Spinach Salad! My husband is not a typical salad person, but we both completely fell in love with the decadent bacon vinaigrette dressing and combination of goat cheese, sweet dried cranberries, and croutons. Amazing!!! We've had the calamari and garlic bread, neither impressed too greatly. I guess you have to be a fan of garlic bread drenched in olive oil. I'm more of a fan of crispier, cheesier bread. The main courses are simply superb! I tend to stick with the classic Italian dishes such as Lasagna, Penne Primavera. My husband prefers chicken dishes such as the Chicken Scarapiello or Dominick's Chicken. Word to the wise, the dishes are family style. So, either come ravenous, share, or be prepared to take food home. That is usually my husband and myself's motivation for ordering the "full" serving instead of the "half." We all know Italian left overs taste just as yummy the next day!!! Its family friendly, and yet nice enough to go for a date. Definitely one of the better restaurants in the area!!!

My boyfriend and I decided on this place last Friday after being turned off by the Norcross Station Cafe. We were seated promptly and greeted by our waiter, who was busily running around. He took our drink orders and proceeded to run around. A little while later, he skidded to a stop next to our table and asked us to remind him of our drink orders. Really? A water and a sweet tea. How difficult is that to remember? Once we finally got those, he offered to take our order. I was pretty flabbergasted when he scoffed at our request for "light garlic" on our cheese bread. "You never hear that," he said with a chuckle. I'm sorry, but when did you become a personal food critic as well? Get me what I order. That is your job. So the bread came with very little garlic, which was good, but thenthefoodcame. What? This guy was all out of whack. I'm not going to knock the establishment. It's a good one. But if I ever get sat to this guy again, I'm going to ask to be moved. I understand that times be tough, Dominick, but please staff your restaurant with servers that will keep your long-time customers coming back.

Really was expecting some good authentic Italian food from this place. Not even close. The food was very boring and not well prepared. Even the pasta (obviously not fresh) was over-cooked. C''mon guys, can you really not cook pasta properly. The only reason I gave them three stars instead of two was because the staff seemed very nice.

Eight people. Family-style dinner. Ordered: - garlic bread and garlic bread with mozzarella: WOW, this is REAL garlic bread, drenched in butter, olive oil, and thick slices of garlic - Caesar salad: just the RIGHT amount of dressing, first time ever, delicious - Chicken Scarapiello: there was no pasta in this dish, still recommended, the sauce... something tangy... delicious... - Spicy Chicken and Sausage Casserole: good - Baked Ziti with Alfredo sauce and spinach: the more I ate of this dish the better I liked it - Tiramisu: the best of the desserts we ordered - Bomba: vanilla and chocolate with a cherry in the middle, dripped in chocolate, served cold - Creme Brulee: you know, creme brulee if not properly chilled tastes straight like scrambled eggs without cheddar cheese and Tabasco... will not be ordering this dessert again Pleasant service. The place was packed with locals (I could tell they were locals from their old-with-an-e Norcross flava). Will I go again? Yes. Will I be ordering MORE garlic bread? Yes.

Dominick's is a fun and delicious treat in quaint downtown Norcross. I particularly like the food here, especially the Veal Marsala or Parmesan. The pasta dishes are excellent as well. On the main dishes - they are family style, which means that one dish can serve at least two people, possibly three. I am not kidding here. Do not think you can eat a full-size portion by yourself, and if you can, please don't sit on me. Quoting the Godfather: "Leave the gun, take the cannoli" The cannoli is an Italian delight here and one not to be missed on a trip here. Therefore, split a meal, and take the cannoli. Service - above average for this type of establishment. The servers are always friendly and knowledgable, and the bartenders are fun and attentive. Downtown Norcross is a bit off the beaten path, but it's still worth a trip here if you have time to browse the shops and eat at Dominick's.

I've been here 3 times, and never been disappointed. This place is really, really good. I've had Shrimp Scarpiello, which was really quite spicy, and delicious, and Penne Casserole with Tiger Shrimp, which was also awesome, and Spicy Chicken & Sausage Casserole, which was spicy (go figure), but great. I see from one of the earlier reviews that R Z. doesn't recommend the steak. Of course don't get the steak, this is an italian restaurant.....I haven't had the steak, but I think that one should be able to figure out what dishes would be better or maybe "not as good" based on the type of restaurant selected. I'd definitely come back here.

I visited Dominicks for the first time with some out of town family a few months ago... I had heard a lot of good things about Dominicks so I was excited about being able to check it out. The waitress received our drink orders and promptly returned. By that time we had already decided to order a few appetizers..... A whole order of Calamari and (half? order) Stuffed Mushrooms. There were 5 of us so I wasnt sure there would be enough. About 10 minutes later she reappeared with a plate of Calamari and we placed our orders. PLENTY! The generous plate of calamari is served with two lemon halves and a nice red sauce. The Stuffed Mushrooms were a knock out....and we had a variety of pasta dishes that were equally as good. My suggestion would be skip the apps, dig into the bread and order the mushroom ravioli! Wine list is pretty good....Ill be back for the ravioli!

I took my husband here last night for a surprise birthday dinner with friends, and we had a stellar time. We had one snafu at the beginning, wherein they had somehow lost my reservation for 10 of us... but they got us seated really quickly anyway and everything went superbly. The food was excellent, our server (Alex) was skillful and accommodating (even refrigerating the birthday cake I'd brought, then placing my candles on it for me for a painless presentation), and a grand time was had by all. One of our friends is originally from NY and said Dominick's exceeded her expectations food-wise, which for me is quite a vote of confidence. I had the mushroom ravioli and LOVED it. Others were pleased with their orders as well. Mr.Mister had been talking about Dominick's for 2 years, and I see why! I look forward to our return.

The best part about this place was the garlic loaf. I could eat the hell out of that stuff. Beyond yummy into dreamy. I don't remember my main course but the portion was big. I brought home leftovers. The server was nice. Don loved his. I thought his could have used some salt or something.

Meh. It's not bad. I'm glad the boss was paying. Service: Our server was attentive, but he bordered on rude and stupid - or at the very least, I would call him brash. One of my co-workers asked what the catch of the day is, and he said "Salmon Portabello - DON'T GET IT." Ooookaaay. Don't try to sugarcoat your opinion there, buddy. Then one person asked for straws, and he came back with ONE STRAW - as if no one else could possibly want one. Smart. Food: We ordered the garlic bread, which is unique, and not necessarily in a good way (in my opinion). It's swimming in olive oil and garlic chips. I'm not a fan of greasy bread, and the garlic is quite overpowering. I can still taste it. For my entree I had the lunch eggplant parmigiana - which is a pile of eggplant, cheese, and marinara - an absolutely nothing else. No pasta, no salad, no nothin'. It's like a side order of eggplant parmigiana. Not detailed on the menu that way, and not impressive to me when it came out. Plus it was tough and chewy. The flavor was nice, though. My friend got the half sandwich/salad lunch, and it came with a pasta salad side that she didn't want. I gave it a taste, and it just tasted like mayonnaise and nothing else. Again, I was not impressed. Decor: The decor I liked. It's very much a family-style Italian restaurant, much nicer and less cheesy than an Olive Garden. It has a warm feeling (despite being rather cold in there today). Summary: Even though I like the decor, and the food and service were ok, Dominick's DOES NOT have a new repeat customer. It's too expensive for what you get.

Quantity not quality. The atmosphere was soothing to the ears. Nice music. This is not a romantic eatery merely because the lighting blares into your face as you eat and your date just might spend more time watching a braves games on the TVs at the bar then giving undivided attention to his date. The dishes are typical for Italian and even appetizing to the eyes. Taste was "OK", I sifted a little salt to help it along and make the flavors pop. Not bad, just not the best either.

Ate here a few days ago and we thought it was good. It is 'family style' Italian food, that Maggianoish/Fratelli-ish type Italian, not the same as a Pricci, where you might find some fancier fish options or more distinctive things. Thus, if this is not for you, I wouldn't go here. It's good for kids because it's pretty loud inside (but not too loud to hear others nearby). We had 5 adults and child that eats little. We weren't sure how much to get. We got: full Caesar salad. This gives a large portion for 4, adequate for 5, would not stretch it for 6. Excellent. Garlic bread. I didn't find it to be swimming in oil, just sitting in it. Very tasty take on garlic bread. Wouldn't mind if they used a slightly denser loaf, but it's still very good. Full portion of Dominick's chicken. Tasty with some kind of cheesy, mushroomy, gooey sauce. This was enough for five, probably would not have been enough for 6. Two half pastas (prima vera, tortellini with alfredo). Both were tasty. We pretty much finished everything and everyone was satisfied. Most people are bigger eaters and would probably want another full or half dish of something (for a group this size). The service was fine, we were seated promptly, and there's no dealing with annoying valets before and after. It's pricier than what we usually do, but we'll probably come back some time.

I've been a loyal customer of Dominick for 10 years and have change owners several time but one thing that does not change is the quality of their food. There are a few items that you must try: Appetizers:Garlic Bread, Anti-Pasta salad and Calamari Fritti Entree: Eggplant Parmigiana, Veal Dominick, Spicy Tilapia and Crab Cakes Dessert: Chocolate Mousse and Tiramisu

My teammates and I went to Dominick's for our Secret Elf gift exchange and it was GREAT! The bread was awesome and the lunch menu is very good....we all had a variety of choices, and enjoyed ourselves. I'm very picky about my Italian, and this was top of the line!

This is Italian the way it should be experiences. I won't go into details except to say everything our party of about 15 had was amazing. The garlic bread was layered with cheese and proscuitto. Everyone was raving over everything and if I should ever return to Atlanta I am coming back. Please open one in Houston.

I have eaten here and at the other 2 locations in Buford and Lawrenceville several times. The service is always great, wine selection top notch, portions plenty... a half portion feeds 2 easily. The crab cake appetizer is 2 large patties chock full of meat. Hardly had room for entree. Have had the steak, which is seasoned well and needs no steak sauce. The veal saltimboca is excellent, as is the chicken marsala. The Caesar salad is tasty and has just enough dressing. Have seen large groups celebrating and diners of just 2 sitting intimately. Always treated as family and will soon bring in a photo of my own family to hang on their wall, as is customary. This is truly a family run, owned, and cared for restaurant.

This place came up on a Yelp search. I grew up about 8 miles from this place and now work about 3 miles from it, but I had never heard of it. Anyway, Yelp my gf and I decided to hit up this place for our Friday date night, and it was great! The garlic bread appetizer was amazing...a perfectly baked loaf - crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside, topped with garlic shavings so long and thin they looked like corn flakes, sitting in a shallow pool of olive oil. Incredible. The portions are huge. I could barely finish 1/3 of my stuffed porkchops (which is a very interesting albeit heavy dish; the gorgonzola cream sauce on the penne was awesome), and my gf also needed a take out box for her shrimp scampi. But we both loved our meals. The service was great. We were seated right away on a Friday night at around 930, which is no big surprise for that time of night, but we were also greeted by our server within a minute, and the kitchen was super fast. Service and food-wise, Dominick's stacks up to any Italian joint I have ever been to. The decor and atmosphere are just so-so, since it is basically one big brightly lit room, so noise travels and it can get loud. I will be back, and I recommend it. Just bring your appetite because the portions are huge, and the food is rich and heavy (like Italian food should be!)

Located on the quaint historic Norcross Square, Dominick's looks and feels more like a chain restaurant than I'd have liked. I think it's nice and comfortable inside, nothing to complain about there. The food I just don't get. Every review of this place anywhere usually ranges from positive to lavishing praises. Looking at the modest menu I see mostly classic American Italian dishes, similar to what they have at Maggiano's and Alfredo's. It's evocative of small town nostalgia, all-American diner Italian food. To me the problem with that is not about cooking skill...I just don't like the taste this category of food strives for. As expected the noodles are really bland and tender, just backdrop to lots of thick sauces and lots of protein (meat). Sausage is just not good, dry and unsavory. I think the food might taste a bit better than Alfredo's, but that's not saying much since I'd given Alfredo's 3 stars almost begrudgingly. Many dishes at these places simply taste like variations of casseroles. Again, I just don't get how this is good food. When I make pasta at home, I don't make it like this--I make it like they do at Sotto Sotto or Antica Posta. Service is very good and friendly. And you just know some families have been coming here for years. It's got the feel of a place with a legacy, again evocative of Alfredo's. Portions are huge for the price. I can squeeze out a bunch of good things to say about this place if I try, but not only was the food mediocre, it was to my chagrin so predictably so, that I don't feel like trying any more Classic American Italian restaurant of this kind, serving up 1950s dishes that just won't die. If somebody *wants* this type food really bad and live in town, I think just go to Maggiano's or Alfredo's, it's about the same.

My boyfriend and I dined at Dominicks for the first time last night. It was a Wednesday, not super busy. Our waitress was prompt and friendly and we received water and wine quickly. I ordered the half order of mushroom ravioli and my boyfriend ordered the half order of chicken piccata. Food came out in a very reasonable amount of time. My ravioli was very tasty. There was a lot of mushrooms in the ravioli and in the sauce the ravioli was served in. The sauce was good and not overwhelming and the ravioli was not overcooked. There was a large quantity of red onion. I'm a fan but it was overwhelming for me. I picked it off and would order the dish again and just ask them to leave the onion off-but that's just my taste preference. I had no complaints with my meal. It was plenty for me and I took some home, for a male it would be enough but probably no leftovers. Unfortunately for my boyfriend, his chicken piccata came out in the form of chicken parmesan. He informed the waitress, who sincerely apologized and said she would have the kitchen make the piccata and he could eat the chicken parm (we didn't want to wait for the piccata to come out). He thoroughly enjoyed the parm. No complaints there. It was a very large portion. The waitress brought out the piccata and we had her box it up to take home, paying very little attention to the fresh entree. When we got home, he discovered it was actually VEAL piccata, which he did not enjoy-maybe because he was expecting chicken or maybe it was the disappointment of a second strike, either way it was a miss for him. So, he never did get his original order. I'm not sure who messed up the 2nd order. I would have given 4 stars except for the 2 incorrect meal situation. We will go back and emphasize our earlier mishap with the hopes that he can finally get his chicken piccata.

Really good italian food. I always get the eggplant parm, it's great reheated too. Not a fan of the wine cups, I really like drinking out of a traditional wine glass. Service is pretty good. The portions are seriously huge. A friend and I split the large eggplant parm, and had plenty to take home with us. We could have easily shared the half serving. Husband's favorite is the shrimp risotto.

Tucked away in old Norcross, across from the railroad tracks in a red brick wrought iron corner, Dominick's serves up some of the richest, flavorful Italian for miles. The portions are memorably huge, so don't over-order, just go back next time. Stuffed mushrooms/garlic bread is a good place to start. Caprese salad, wine, or Pellegrino to cut the richness. Then maybe a baked Ziti with a meatball side. Bring friends, order the large and share family style. One non-recommendation... the chicken piccatta tastes like the frozen costco chicken I used to make for myself in college... despite the nostalgic memories that conjures up... that's not good. Then head over to Northstar Coffee down the block. Coffee at restaurants is OK if you like Folgers, otherwise, go get the real thing.

OK, lets be real... this is not that great of an Italian restaurant. That said I think most fall in love with downtown Norcross and the building and that carries over into their reviews. I thought the place was beautiful and the staff excellent and mostly prompt. The cheese bread was OK, but the sliced garlic and overly oily bread just weren't as good as reviews led me to believe! I had the 4 cheese sauce over pasta, want be doing that again! Next time I with out hesitation I will be going to Provino's!

This is one of my favorite Italian places in the Atlanta area. [Disclaimer: I know I've ranked some finer restaurants lower, so keep in mind when I say 5 stars, I rank this out of my expectations of a casual eatery. We had also never heard of this place before we ventured in, so we were very surprised] We happened onto Dominick's one night when we were just driving through old Norcross. We just blindly picked this place, and we are glad we did. The servers were very nice and were able to make great recommendations. MUST HAVES: 1. The garlic bread - We thought the server was just trying to upsell us on this dish, but we said yes anyway. We were pleasantly surprised. It is layered with fresh cooked garlic. You may feel like you're going to need a coronary bypass, but it is delicious 2. The mushroom appetizer - This dish is stuffed with sausage. You might not have room for your main dish after this appetizer, but I like to get it whenever I go You'll definitely be going home with leftovers from this place as the servings are plentiful. It is a great place to get together with friends and have a nice family style dinner. We've been back a couple times since and have enjoyed it each time. The service is always nice. The first time we went, it was a bit on the later side, closer to closing. Being so late, servers are often trying to wind down restaurants, but they made us feel comfortable and the food quality did not lack one bit. The restaurant also has a private party room for those who may want to host an event.

Easily my favorite spot in Old Norcross. The food, staff and atmosphere is always top notch. You can't ask for a better neighborhood italian restaurant. I love the garlic bread with cheese, I love the gorgonzola salad, I love the Orzo dish with shrimp and the tira misu. So much to love here!

Off the beaten path... that is for sure. The food is great. I think all of their dishes are great. Many mention their garlic bread. If you have not been there, go and try it. No kidding. The bread is swimming in garlic and olive oil. Pasta? You want pasta? Yeah, they have pasta.... I like their chicken parmesan. The person I was with didn't. Too picky I think. She claimed it was made like a chicken nugget opposed to a single piece. I liked it...

Every time I'm in atlanta I stop by at Dominick's. The best Italian food in town I especially love there Chicken Parmesan. Great service and just a great place to dine. I haven't been back since my first time but the food is to DIE for. I honestly couldn't find the place if I tried... I'm far from the restaurant. The garlic balls are the BEST I've ever had. And the food was fabulous. I hope to come back soon. It's in a little town of Norcross and the setting seems so country in the town, but feels like little Italy when you step inside.

Old Norcross has quite a few Italian restaurants in close proximity to each other, and before Friday night my wife and I had been to every one of them except Dominick's. The restaurant was pleasantly busy for a Friday night at 7 p.m., but we were able to be seated right away. Prompt attention by our server, a knowledge of the menu, and some advice on which dishes were their specialties were strong points of our experience. However, the most important part of the meal, the food, was not a strong point. I asked our waiter of the two dishes I had picked out, the lasagna (a specialty listed on the menu) or the chicken & sausage casserole which should I get? Without hesitation he suggested the chicken & sausage casserole. My wife ordered the baked ziti. Before we could even get halfway through our order of garlic bread, our entrees came out. At first glance they appeared to be the exact same. It was only after I discovered a few pieces of cut up chicken and some slices of sausage did we determine ours indeed were different. However, the pasta, the marinara sauce, and globs of melted mozzarella cheese on each of our dishes were identical. My "casserole" looked the same as her baked ziti, and for $18 cost of the dishes I hoped they'd be a bit more than a huge plate of pasta covered with marinara sauce and cheese. Overall the food didn't compare to any of the other Italian restaurants in the area. We may have just ordered the wrong entrees, but I think we'll make the rounds at the other places before we give Dominick's another try.

Yummy in my tummy! Dominick's offers a great selection of traditional Italian dishes along with some speciality items. Their bread is off the charts good so be sure to ask for some if you go during lunch as its only served on request. The Caesar salad is decent but not the best I have had in the Atlanta metro. My favorite entree is the sun-dried tomato and spinach manicotti. Mmmm...soo good. It's covered in both a cream and red sauce and the two mixed together is divine. Dominick's is a little pricey but is consistent with the rest of the restaurants in the Downtown Norcross area.

Dominick's is one of the anchors of little Histroric Norcross between Buford Hwy and Peachtree Industrial Northeast of I-285. If you're within 10-15 miles of there and want some hearty Italian I'd choose it over the Maggiano's and Carrabba's out there. First, don't eat here if you're on a diet. You will be disappointed since this is full-on Italian (heavy uses of olive oil, butter, frying, breading, etc.). On the plus side that means the food is the real deal. Start off with some Garlic Bread w/cheese, and don't forget to make use of the garlic shavings underneath. When you order, get about half of what you think you could eat. So if you have four people, get three half order entrees and you'll have plenty. It'll save you either a large amount of wasted food or a stack of to-go boxes. The entrees that I'd recommend are the stuffed porkchops, eggplant parmigiana, ravioli w/alfredo, veal saltimbocca, scallops due socci, and penne casserole w/tiger shrimp. This place can handle groups/families and is kid-friendly. Some may consider this a romantic restaurant but I'd have to give the nod to Mojito's a few doors down for that. Dessert is OK but not outstanding. I'd take a stroll down to Northern Star Coffeehouse (steps away) and get coffee and dessert...they probably have some live music there as well with no cover.

I have been going to Dominick's "Little Italy" for years now... And I always have such a great experience here. I may even venture to say Life-Changing. Yelp, I said it "Life Changing" This little Italian place is hidden in old Norcross, and for all of you ITP people who wont venture out of the city to get grub..(And Yes, I'm one of them!)...I recommend when you are looking for a change of pace, and have that Italian food craving, that you actually give this little place a try. Mapquest the directions, get in your car, and in mins you will find yourself happy that you did.. The restaurant is usually packed on weekends so try to make a reservation. The dinning room is romantic and quaint with rustic brick walls, white table cloths, and red napkins Italian music playing softly, very informative wait staff, and a menu that will leave you asking for a few mins to look it over. My Personal Favorites: I always start off with the Calamari Fritti - Lightly seasoned calamari rings, breaded and flash-fried, served with a side of Dominick's marinara sauce. Simply Scrumptous. All appetizers can be ordered in full or half orders. Also...Let me just say that....Dominick's Garlic Bread is amazing. But only if you are into eating bread that is te swimming in garlic and butter. I am typically not, however, the tast-i-ness of this is just too good to pass up. Dominick's famous Italian bread is baked with fresh razor thin sliced garlic and butter. Talk about heavenly! Caesar Salas generally follows..Again, You are given the option of ordering a full or half order. A full order feeds like 4 I think and a half will suffice for 2. Seriously Yum-Mee!!! Don't Skip the salad. Again, if you know Chrissy, you know that I love Eggplant Parm. And the Eggplant Parmigiana @ Dominicks does not disappoint...After every bite I perform the "Good Bite Dance" where I bounce around in my seat while chewing and humming delightful impromptu tunes of palate pleasure. Please tell me someone knows what I'm talking about? Thin slices of skin-on eggplant lightly breaded, flash-fried, topped with mozzarella and baked golden brown. This entree takes me to my happy place....Half order is only 11.95 but I typically order the Full for 16.95 and take the rest home for left overs. Also great is the Chicken Parm & their meatballs. Seafood & Veal entress are amazing... and the pasta dishes are to die for. For dessert...They have...Tira Mi Su, Cannolis, Creme Brulee, N.Y. Cheesecake, Chocolate Mousse and Bomba. My personal favorite is the Creme Brulee, even though I'm typically a cheesecake head. It is so creamy and D-licious. I would recommend this place for birthday's, large parties, dates, and it's also a great place to take the out of towners. As you eat your meal, the sounds of the passing train can be heard and seen from the restaurants front window. Not a loud, distracting train at all. Its actually very nice, and adds so much to this little place's ambiance. Dominicks is in a historic little area, where there are little shops, and sidewalks great for strolling down after a big Italian feast. Don't miss out on a trip to Dominick's...I enjoy this place most during the holidays when the lamposts are decorated for Christmas and white lights adorn the surrounding area. Very quaint and special. Service here is excellent to start off with. I am greatly surprised by the prices....no more expensive than Carrabba's. But the food was much more better, and of course different varieties beings that Carrabba's is a chain and each one has the exact same food (and this is RARE, that I would ever downsize Carrabba's!). The manager(s) usually stop by when your table is done with your meals just to greet you and see how everything was. As Stephanie says, it is a wonderful place for a date and there were 3 different birthdays at 3 different tables being celebrated there once when I was here! And why not?! THEY are paying, demand the best! I think I might have to move my B-Day up a few months now. :-D We wanted to try something different for an appetizer rather than just the usual garlic bread, so we ordered the Spedini Bread and it was wonderful, especially if you love proscuitto like me. And the way they showcased it was so unique. My favorite meal there is their Chicken Saltimboca and it is some of the if not THE best I've ever had. I only ordered a "Half" Meal rather than full, and I still had enough to take home for a second meal which I always love. If you love Italian and have not been here, you GOTTA go there. It's in the beautiful historic downtown Norcross, only a couple blocks off of Buford Hwy (US23). I honestly don't know downtown Norcross too well, but there was some nice shops down Main St. but by the time we left Dominicks, they were closed. I noticed they are all open later (8pm, I think) on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays.

Probably the best bread I've had at any joint and the best Cesar salad but not sure if that says much since I rarely order Cesar salads from anywhere. Bread available by request at lunch. I had the sun-dried tomato and spinach manicotti...Mmmm...except for the giant chunks of sun dried tomato's. Was a bit too much for this gal. It's covered in both a cream and red sauce. Service was great and prompt.

The scenario: Dinner with visiting Parental My mom, who (God love her) can be one of the pickiest restaurant eaters on the face of the Earth, always INSISTS on a dinner here when she comes into town. It's That good, folks. We've visited both midweek and on the weekends and have never run into a Carrabba's-sized wait. Parking is easy and the service has always been very good to us. We've always found the food to be deliciously consistent with plentiful portions and the specials always sound amazing. The special one night when we visited in October: a steak, wrapped in bacon and topped with Gorgonzola, that was so tender that Mom's STILL talking about to this day! I'm not much of a steak eater and don't like pork, so (although I totally get that it's an Italian restaurant) I really wish the menu had more items that didn't include sausage and/or prosciutto. However, the eggplant parm is a fave and I've loved every chicken dish I've had so far. The Chicken Dei Sessi last night - incredibile! Overall, a very solid dining experience.

This is a jewel many Atlantans have not yet discovered. Located in historic Norcross, it makes for a pleasant outing, even if you have to drive from another part of the city. Casual and comfortable, the interior has brick walls and a pleasant bar. But the food is what this establishment is all about. The lasagne is fantastic. I've tried numerous pasta dishes, as well as a number of chicken selections. They have all been superb. The Italian bread, drenched in butter and finely shaved garlic is an absolute must. I once took two of my aunts (who live in other states) to Dominick's. It has been several years and they still talk about the garlic bread every time I see them. After dinner, you can stroll around the Norcross village and window shop. I don't live in Norcross, but when I have a craving for Italian food, I choose Dominick's over all others in Atlanta. Make the drive - it's worth it!

Dig it. Happy accidental find thanks to my new GPS Mio navigator which led me to nearby cafes that coolly provide WiFi. After checking emails & surfing the web comes dinnertime. Coincidentally Dominick's fulfilled my wish for some Italian. The simple chicken w/the light sauce & pasta recommendation didn't blow me away as much as the warm luxurious, romantic yet chill decor inside. Too bad I didn't have a hot date to drag here just to absorb the ambience w/some good wine.

I loved the interior of this restaurant. It's charming. Food is good and typical. The bread is fresh out of the oven when served. I tried the red sauce with meat pasta and salad for lunch. It was a delight!

Dominick's is a great place for a celebration or for a romantic date! I went to Dominick's to celebrate my friend's parent's anniversary. We had a reservation, which was great because the restaurant was packed. The dinning room was romantic and quaint with rustic brick walls and candles dispersed on all the tables. Italian opera played softly in the background and the waiter staff was very formal and helpful. We ordered a couple of the house recommended wines for the tables and kept on making toasts throughout the dinner. We also ordered the garlic cheese bread and spinach salad tossed with bacon vinaigrette, goat cheese, and dried cranberries for the whole table. By the time the main course came out, my friend's mom was delightfully tipsy which made the rest of the night that much more fun. The food was absolutely flawless. I ordered the demi-glace seared lamb chops with linguini which just about melted in my mouth. I usually don't like lamb chops (horrible memories of my mom over cooking it dry and having to cover each piece with apple sauce to cover the taste), but now that I'm older, thank goodness I'm giving it another try. The dish was a perfect balance of flavors and the half portion left just enough room for dessert; I can never pass up a crme brulee. And an espresso toped off the night. The experience was great and I would recommend this place to anyone who is celebrating a graduation, birthday, or anniversary where you will be willing to spend the money and go all out with a 5 course meal because there is nothing you want to miss from Dominick's.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
