I have taken a few wrong turns on the BBQ Highway recently thanks to Yelp and the old GPS. Today this old blind hog scored a prize barbecue acorn today. It took three plates to deliver my sampler platter of goodness and it was delivered by a superstar server named Courtney. Greeted with a smile and welcoming atmosphere I started with high hopes. It literally took three plates to deliver my sampler platter. Three meats - pork, brisket & half a chicken. Four sides - fries, slaw, beans & heavenly Brunswick stew. Perfectly complemented by two simple slices of lite bread and a sweet glass of iced tea. It was all good good good. The chicken took the gold but pork and brisket wore the silver and bronze with pride. Meanwhile the Brunswick stew - 3rd generation recipe - was so good the other sides were honored just to be on the same plate. Mild, Hot & Vinegar sauces. Hot was perfectly paired with the brisket. The vinegar loved the pork butt just right. The chicken was so nice it didn't need a saucy friend. Desserts looked good but I didn't have a spot left to squeeze any in me. I'll have to come back. Y'all should come get you some with me.

I am pretty much obsessed with Cabin Creek BBQ. I have had almost everything on their menu and I cannot complain about any of it! My favorite is the lunch buffet on SUNDAYS which is from 11 to 2. The fried grouper and meatloaf are two of my favorites on Sunday's. If you are looking to slip into a good food coma, this is your place. lol. Five stars all the way!

Foodies are not afraid to travel to the ends of the earth for the best food, and in this case, it's good ole Southern BBQ. Okay, so it's not THAT far away, but I don't really know what else is out in these [here] parts. I had the [pork] rib plate with brunswick stew, roasted potatoes, and mac & cheese. The ribs were tender and required no additional sauce to make it any better. The roasted potatoes were addicting and my only gripe is that they don't give you more. The mac & cheese was a little on the bland side, but nothing a little pepper couldn't fix. For the amount of food you get, you can't beat the price. My $12 plate could have easily costed $20 elsewhere. Ask for the brisket sauce. It doesn't matter if you ordered brisket, catfish, potatoes, or anything else. The creamy, tangy, spicy sauce goes with everything.. and will change your life. For real. If you don't gain anything else from my review, heed my advice and save room for dessert. They have an out-of-this-world banana pudding. Other dessert options not as readily available - peach cobbler and German chocolate cake, which I heard were pretty stellar, as well. We had half of the restaurant reserved, so if you come with a large party, just call ahead and they'll take care of you. Also, try to come early, as this place gets quite busy later on in the evening. The restaurant is easy to find and the cute, Southern girls are just the sweetest. FYI, parking is on a gravel lot.

I had read all the other reviews for this place months back and finally decided to venture out and try them. When I first arrived the place was very busy. I ordered off the dinner menu. I got the pulled pork with fries and baked beans. I added what they call 1/2 cup of Brunswick Stew. It was 2.59 so I was expecting a decent amount. What they gave me was so small it would not even fill one of those little school cafeteria places on the tray. About 4 tablespoon fulls at best. Now, it was amongst the top 3 Brunswick stews I have ever had, but was way overpriced for a side item and way too small. The pulled pork was excellent. It was moist and had great flavor. The fries were just so so at best and the baked beans were not very good. I can get over some of the sides not being so good when a place has GREAT pork and Brunswick Stew. The thing that keeps this from being a 5 star place for me is that I did not particularly care for their BBQ sauces. I tried both hot and mild and they were just too sweet. I like vinegar based, tangy sauces. Having said that, the pulled pork was good enough to be eaten by itself but when I eat BBQ I want BBQ sauce. The service was good. In fact, the rush died down about the time I had my food placed in front of me so the server and I got to talking. She started telling me about something called Chicken Mull. She tried upselling me on it with a to go order. I told her no thanks so she brought me a sample anyhow. I tried some before I left and it was really good. It was sort of like clam chowder and/or potato soup without clams or potatoes. It tasted very good though and I will order some in the future. Apparently it is a local dish to the Nicholson, GA area. Keep in mind I grew up in GA on the southside of ATL and graduated from UGA in Athens and I had never heard of Nicholson GA. LOL. Anyhow, the pork and stew were good enough that I ordered a pound of pork and a pint of stew to go. The prices for those were very reasonable ($10/lb for pork and like $6 for the stew). That is the way to go! If I lived close by I would take out from there regularly. The prices for dine in are a little steep but to go would be a great value. I will definitely go back if I am ever in the area or just have a hankering from some great Brunswick stew and moist, tasty pulled pork.

We love this place. Best BBQ in the area hands down. We usually get sandwiches and are plenty full, but you can load up on plates for the full experience. Everything is good and the service is quick. Check out the Sunday country brunch too. It's a little pricy but it's very good and all you can eat.

Pork is pulled (instead of chopped), juicy, and delicious. The ribs were tender and yummy. Excellent brisket as well, esp with the creamy sauce that accompanies it. The sides were tasty, although I do prefer a less-salty coleslaw. This was a little disappointing, as I really like a sweet-ish coleslaw to balance out the smokiness of the BBQ. The Brunswick stew is very good, with the flavor and consistency of hash. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will be back.

The kids and I tried this place for the first time last night. If you aren't familiar with the area, the restaurant can be a little hard to find at night. The place is right off 441 but they don't have a lighted name sign visible from 441, other than a little lighted signboard with the daily specials. We went there on the strength of the Yelp reviews and had a tremendously enjoyable meal. The meats were wonderful - outstanding quality and very well prepared. Among the members of our party, we tried the pulled pork, the brisket and the ribs. We traded samples, and each one thought the samples were delicious but theirs was the best. The portions were generous and the prices very reasonable. We hit the new Hardee's for lunch a couple of days ago and a halfway decent burger combo runs to almost $9 now - you can eat a much finer lunch here for only a dollar more. What I liked best is that everything we tried was great. Some BBQ places focus on the meats, and the side dishes taste like they're right out of a can. Not so here. The dinner plates come with three sides. The cole slaw was delightful - fresh, subtle, and unique - not at all like the chain places where big doses of salt and sugar don't quite cover the preservative taste. The roasted potatoes were delicious. The kids raved about the mac-and-cheese and the beans. You can see that the owners have given care and thought to everything they put on the table. The service was also outstanding. Our servers looked like they might be family members, but instead of the grouchface you usually get when a kid is pressed into waiting tables after school, these kids knew their job and did it very well. They were genuinely welcoming and friendly, and the service was smooth, fast and unintrusive. The owner/manager was also out walking around to make sure everything was okay. I really wanted to try the brunswick stew or the chicken mull, but the dinner plate was so satisfying and filling I couldn't eat another bite, so there's something to look forward to for the next visit.

Though nothing will ever beat Keesler's, this is the best BBQ in the state! You have not lived until you've tried the Brunswick stew!! And don't forget the homemade desserts!!

I had their brisket, mac and cheese, baked beans, stew and banana pudding for dinner. Decent place to grab lunch/dinner. Nothing special to brag about. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. But, if you are in the area, worth trying this place.

Charming and quaint BBQ restaurant that is an excellent alternative to all of the typical chain fare found closer to the "I-85"--Commerce-Tanger Outlets interstate exchange... If you are in that area, do yourself a favor and head east for about 15 minutes or so and you will come across Cabin Creek BBQ... We tried the smoked chicken and pull pork sandwich plates on a recent Saturday lunch and both were excellent. The sides here taste like real Southern home cooking... great mac and cheese and excellent cole slaw that had a great consistency and was not too sweet nor bland (I hope it's 'home-made' because it seems too good for 'store-bought' or sysco). The brunswick stew was outstanding as well and didn't reach of Veg-All like so many do (ahem, dreamland bbq, ahem) The portions may seem small but you don't leave hungry. Service was very hospitable. The setting is very old school Georgia farmhouse looking with a few tables with wooden chairs and then much larger communal tables with bench like sitting ... there is a quaint porch out front overlooking the gravel parking lot where some old folks were sitting in the rocking chairs smoking (really old folks?) This worth the drive if you are in the Commerce area for shopping or other business...

Best BBQ I know of!! Old time country feel? Check. Friendly staff? Check. Best BBQ I know of in a home-made style? oh yes. Strongly recommended.

Great BBQ and great banana pudding. I no longer live close but sometimes drive 30 miles just to eat their BBQ.

Ate at this rustic but mouth watering BBQ joint before the Georgia vs Kentucky football game. The place was on the way from Commerce. Sign outside said get your corn mull?? Upon inspection corn mull is a type of stew ( buttery, milky, with shredded chicken) very tasty and warming. Would definitely mull my self again. Had this as a side and the Brunswick stew. Both were 10 out of 10 in my book. Others at table had brisket sandwich. Said it was juicy with a hint of spice and lots of it. Mac and cheese was also peppery and good. For dessert what else but banana pudding? It was homemade and still warm ( just like grandma used to make). If your that way be sure to drop on In and stay a while. Only negative was sweet tea was not sweet enough for my Deep South palate.

Went 1pm and was not open. Very frustrating to leave the highway for restaurant and drive out of our way to not have it be opened during published hours!

Absolutely positively the best barbecue I've had in GA. Every time I go to Athens there's a compulsory visit here for at least a pound of BBQ. The meat is amazing.

Hoo-lordy this is some good BBQ and if I didn't know any better, I would swear the Brisket came from Texas as Cabin Creek prepares Brisket correctly; the brisket is tender, juicy, and expertly flavored; it simply melts in the mouth and easily harkens the Pit Masters in Texas who know how to cook Brisket! By far, Cabin Creek serves the BEST TEXAS STYLE Brisket in Georgia and I am happy to announce that I finally found my Brisket home! As for the rest of Cabin Creek BBQ servings, I'll easily award TOP honors for their succulent and lean pulled pork; their delectable and perfectly smoked ribs (note: the sauce on the ribs has some heat to it and may be too hot for some); their home style fresh sides (ALL GREAT); the decidedly Southern Nanner Puddin (served warm and topped with meringue) and the fantastic Southern (non-chunky veggie) Brunswick Stew! Cabin Creek is a VERY solid 4.875 on my BBQ scale and only misses the full five star treatment for being pricey in their BBQ and side offerings (single bill came to $26.00 [minus tip] for three meat, three side choice, drink and desert). Please don't let the higher price deter a visit as Cabin Creek offers high quality and expertly prepared BBQ and sides for the money (I'm just cheap)! The local is easy to find and is exceptionally clean (dining floor and bathrooms) and houses very friendly people who know how to serve and prepare fantastic BBQ!

When I'm in town from New York City visiting family I always head to Cabin Creek first thing. Mmm, banana pudding!
