THIS is the kind of place food critics dream about! We started walking in and, not knowing anything about the place whatsoever, I asked a group leaving "What do they have good inside?". The response was clear "Catfish". I was ready! Bring it! When we stepped inside, we went through a time warp. This place hadn't changed in forty years. If you are under 40 or have a BMI of under 40, you're going to feel really out of place initially. We were definitely among the younger set and there were quite a few guys seated that made me feel rather svelte. After a short wait we were seated. It took longer for our server to make initial contact but hey, these folks are busy! Let me tell you, they are serving up a bunch of food in this place. I was able to take one picture inside before I started getting the evil eye. Melanie and I remarked that we really had traveled back in time. People were actually sitting at the table talking with one another rather than everyone having their face glued to their phone. What kind of place was this? Needless to say, I was a little scared to start snapping pictures of food because it seemed awkward and out of place. Melanie ordered the Shrimp Plate and I ordered the Seafood Platter. We had gotten salads as one of our sides and ordered a baked potato for another. When our meals arrived, I could not believe the portion size we received. You will not leave hungry from Campton Restaurant. We weren't thrilled with the salads. It was just iceberg lettuce, but the dressings were good and really the main thing here is the entreé. My Seafood Platter consisted of oysters, shrimp, scallops, deviled crab and perch. I declined the oysters for additional shrimp and upgraded to the tilapia. It's all fried and you can't get it any other way. There are a few items on the menu that are available grilled or broiled but not many. Melanie and I both thought the shrimp was outstanding. Lightly breaded and perfected prepared with no tails it was absolutely delightful. I love cocktail sauce while Melanie shuns it and prefers tartar sauce. The cocktail sauce tasted homemade and has a spectacular kick to it that makes me think there's something more than just horseradish in there. The scallops were small but juicy and didn't taste gritty (an indicator of cheap scallops that haven't been cleaned properly). The deviled crab was the show stealer. Stuffed high out of the shell, the flavor was out of this world. This is a must-have when you visit Campton Restaurant. By the time I got to the tilapia I was about full. Somehow though, I persevered and was able to finish it off. Melanie didn't have as much luck with her plate and left three shrimp stranded whom I rescued by finishing them off. When the server came to check if we wanted dessert, we both realized that was out of the question and we just needed to sit for a while before we left. By the way, the dessert was peach cobbler with ice cream for $2.50. IMG_1298When you come to the Campton Restaurant, don't bother looking for the sign - there isn't one. Instead, look for the most cars parked by Hwy 11 just north of Monroe and be prepared to experience some awesome, cheap seafood and fish. Guten appetit! Good honest home style food at a fair price.

Had the slaw and chili dogs with a side of onion rings. Hard to find good dogs, but the mission was successful this time. Onion rings were good to the bone too. Friendly staff and old town ambiance. Will be back whenever I'm around.
Very plain , simple food served at a very fair price. Typical meat and sides place. good quality with smallish portions but reasonably priced. Service is very good. No alcohol , meals are served on styrofoam plates, bowls. Cute interior. Great tea. Biggest downside: only evenings open; Thursday and Friday.
Sooo good...everything i get is delicious..and its super fast and cheap...most lunches under $7

I've had lunch there a couple of times in the last month or so, each time having their lunch special Gyro. Staff was friendly, food a bit slow coming out . Both times the Gyro was excellent, fresh and tasty. Fries were typical frozen/fried variety that I don't really like that much (I always wish for fresh cut potato fries which are so much better). I like the place and will be back.
Food was ok. Very boxed and generic, I guess you could say. Stingy on the meat in the calzones. Salad was hunks of flavorless iceberg with minimal toppings. Desserts seem to come from a box. Nothing there makes me want to return. Ive been twice just to see if it was consistently bad. Not only does the food need improvement, but the decor does as well. Ripped seats, old tables. I'd rather go across the way and spend $20 at McDonalds. I think this place would do really well in Monroe if they gave folks something that would 'wow' their taste buds and also have a visually appealing interior. Sad that this place does neither.
Another visit. So disappointed, no rice. How can you not have rice at dinner service?! No kafta kabob! Bathroom sink looks like it's going to fall off any minute!

It may be a truck stop restaurant, however, the food is fantastic! We tried the food at The Taste of Monroe and fell for the shrimp & grits and awesome southern style. We ventured out for breakfast and LOVED the experience. I had the sweet potato pancakes and husband had the biscuits and gravy and of course grits. Amazing. Pancakes were perfect. Didn't need syrup they were delish plain! Service is not speedy but customer service is above and beyond great! A busy kitchen and one server for front of the house keeps the place hopping on the morning we went. We will definitely return- just advise those who want "faster fast food" to head toward a drive thru chain if you are rushed. This is great place for a family meal, conversation, and the best home cooked meal. Go now. We want to return on Catfish\Seafood Saturdays. Worth the drive and true amazing hideaway secret. Excellent!
Tough one to review. The place is an absolute dump and doesn't seem very clean. But the all you can eat crab legs are great and plentiful and I loved the hush puppies. I would probably only come for crab legs, but I'd come often for those!
My daughter and her family tried this place and really loved it so my wife and I gave it a go but after three tries we've never gone back. The wait staff is very friendly but the food is just average and the atmosphere is a bit rough. Truck drives seated alone talking loudly on their ear phones while eating was annoying. The main reason we've never gone back is because the cleanliness was suspect. Check their health inspection rating and you decide.
