I work super close to the Union. I remember when that site used to be a little BBQ and candy joint. I walked there all the time when I was a kid to buy Airheads. It's the closest restaurant to where I make snack money, but I don't generally like going inside the restaurant. For some reason, being in there kind of stresses me out. It's not a very large restaurant and since it has been cold out, everyone was eating inside. That can make eating there a bit stressful because you have to be aware of whether or not you're in someone's way while enjoying your meal. It's a cute little building and I'm sure that going when it's less crowded (midday, like three) would be more relaxed. So, my MO is to order take-out. Their sides are generous portions and they are so delicious! Plus, I think they're reasonably priced. I got the caramelized brussels sprouts and butternut squash (HELL YES SO GOOD), cheesy grits (HNNNNGGG) and jalapeno mac n cheese (BYAHHHH!). My friend got the cheesy grits and fingerling potatoes, which were perfect. Then we split a margherita pizza which was excellent. I've had a lot of bad take-out experiences, but they really know what they're doing. Our food was the perfect temperature and it was ready in 20 minutes. Plus, the staff was really friendly. They treated me like I was just as important as one of their patrons sitting in the restaurant. And one tip: if you order take-out, pick it up at the bar. For some reason I got super confused and asked like three different people where I was supposed to get it. Durrr.

Food - awesome! We had the Club, Cobb Salad and the burger. All of it was great. The service..... good - not above average. My problem with this place is the cans and up charges. You choose to open a restaurant out in the middle of nowhere. .. don't gauge your customers for drinks. Get a fountain and stop charging 1.69 for something that cost you less than .25 cents.

This is a very popular local restaurant. The food is consistently good and the service is prompt and friendly. (I saw no flies!). The atmosphere is sort of like being at home in Mom's kitchen. It can get crowded, come early or be prepared to wait a bit.

One of our favorite local joints. The bad: Alpharetta jerks who don't need the handicap parking will use the spot anyway so I have nowhere to unload my wheelchair. The staff turns the tables sideways on the patio so I can't get through without practically remodeling. This is not only inconvenient, but against the ADA. They need to fix this. Their threshold on their exterior doors (the front door and the side door at the bar) are both so high, I have to pop a wheelie to get through. The good: The service has been excellent all but one time. We like to eat on the patio. It's way too loud inside! The patio with the fireplace is peaceful and relaxing. I always order the crab dip and the Coffee & Donuts. The beignets vary in quality, depending on who prepared them. Sometimes they are New Orleans worthy, and other times they are chewy and a little "meh" but the coffee ice cream is always a home run. I love the goat cheese ravioli. The wedge salad leaves a lot to be desired. They skimp on the tomato, bacon, bleu cheese crumbles, and dressing. For $9, they need to compete with every other restaurant which serves a wedge salad. They serve easily 1/3 the toppings as other restaurants. The wedge salad cost is low. When we have a bill of $160, I would really just like my salad to be on par with the quality of the remainder of the menu. Despite these few negative things (the biggest issue being the lack of accessibility, I hate feeling unwelcome) we do still like the ambiance and food. One other issue is booking private parties. I tried to book a party and was told I would get a call back from the manager because they weren't sure if they could accommodate a party of 25 based on existing reservations. I found another place but on the day of the event, they called and asked where we were. We never got a call from them at all. Needless to say, they just need to work out these kinks. I gave a 4 for the food and ambiance, but otherwise I would have given a 2.5. There are just too many little issues which add up to a much bigger issue.

I came here while visiting friends in Alpharetta and was a little disappointed. The service was OK, not very attentive, and not very experienced. The house wine is only $5 and I had the Chardonnay which was pretty good. I ordered the chicken gnocchi and it started out fine. Then I started to notice a few dark gray/purplish pieces of meat. It looked a bit like fish....some sort of mystery meat. I asked the server about it and he said it was probably just their dark chicken meat. That was not the best response and I could not eat anymore of the dish. Anyhow, the other dishes were ok. No one was blown away. Probably will not go back.

New menu choices lack former creativity and taste. Lebanese kabob was very disappointing.

I have a strong distaste for traffic, perhaps that's putting it mildly, I utterly loathe and despise traffic. It represents the embodiment of the average individual's inner stupidity and I do all that I can to avoid it. It was not unusual that I went to great lengths to hunt down the most obscure route I could find to get me from my place of abode in Woodstock to the old grindstone in Alpharetta and it was upon this route that I discovered The Union Restaurant. Having commuted past the place multiple times I finally decided to sneak inside with the other half and see what the little restaurant offered on one of my days off. Upon first entering one is greeted by a view of the bar and as Michael has already noted a small somewhat eclectically designed interior. Quite frankly the decor did not appeal to me as it seemed that the various elements did not really mesh well. Design of the place aside our waitress was attentive and helpful not hesitating to answer any questions we had about the menu. We opted to try their Frito Misto appetizer a combination of calamari and breaded shrimp and clam. While the dish was not horrible I was not impressed, it rated a little over the calamari served by various franchises to me with the texture of the squid being chewier than I like and the clam and shrimp too understated. My main dish was their Salmon BLT which was served as an open face sandwich with salmon, roasted tomatoes, bacon, and arugula served atop sourdough. I found it noteworthy that I was asked how I wanted my salmon prepared as by that point I'd developed a jaded outlook that most Americans must love their fish overdone. As such I ordered my Salmon medium rare with a healthy dose of cynicism. I was surprised to find that it was cooked to order and was moist and juicy when it arrived nestled amongst the arugula. The roasted tomatoes were flavorful and helped me to get over the somewhat lackluster bacon. Overall the sandwich was a pleasant experience but one that I did not feel justified the expense. Wife had a tomato bisque that she quite enjoyed, described it as having great flavor and texture and felt the piece of toast floating in the soup complemented it well. Overall a decent restaurant if a bit unmemorable for me. A solid 3 stars which in my book is not a bad thing. We'll eventually go back to try some of the other dishes - but probably not for quite a while. Too many better experiences out there.

Not bad. Interesting decor. Club sandwich is a bit oily (bread) and watch out to hidden toothpicks.

It is very loud with a good addition of pot banging in the kitchen. We arrived around 140 Sunday and the place was moderately busy. After ordering our food took an average amount of time. As it arrived we were informed by the waiter they were out of ketchup and had been all day. Since two of us had ordered fries I asked why someone had not been sent to the store a couple miles away. The answer was they were to busy to do that right now. Pizza was good, Sloppy Joe very good. Fish Tilapia sandwich had some bones and an off taste I couldn't attribute to funky seasoning or just funky fish. Wife raves about their burgers so I'll give it one more shot at some point. Hopefully they'll have all the condiments.

We recently moved to Milton and a local recommended this place. It has been a consistent watering hole for us because of its great food and wonderful service. I think they have the best cheeseburger in Fulton County. They make homemade chips and french fries along with a tempting array of salads and appetizers. we have never had a bad meal here ....The Steak Frites is a must, juicy, tender, served with a fresh arugula salad...awesome! I can't recommend this place enough...

Three stars is about all I can give this place. We came here a year ago and had a much better experience then. The first thing out of the waiter's mouth was, "Oh, I guess I should tell you that we no longer allow customers to bring their own wine." Bad move. If you took reservations, I would have asked the question and not been bothered with having to show up with a bottle, thinking we could have great wine with dinner. I guess I'll order Riunite on ice, instead. Yeah; it's on the menu... Aside from my first impression being a poor one, the BBQ & Blues chips were very tasty...my favorite part of the meal, in fact. The wedge salad was just that, and edible. The gnocchi, however, was bland and a little dry. This dish begs for a garlicky alfredo sauce, or a tomato cream sauce...anything to spice it up a little. Her chicken parmesan was actually quite good. We took both of our remaining portions home. The outside table was lovely, due to the weather. I can't believe that we spent $91 + tip on dinner (including drinks) for two. Moscow Mules at $9/each kept my girlfriend happy, while I had to settle for the local Hop Dang Diggity IPA. I would much rather have sipped my lovely Spring Mountain Cabernet and given a 4-star review. Oh well; at least I know not to make the same mistake again.

Great atmosphere and eclectic design and menu. The Butternut Squash soup is excellent. Burgers are solid and fish is always fresh. First time today, but will repeat.

I've been coming to Union for a couple years now. The food and atmosphere have always been very good. Wait staff is friendly and prompt as well as helpful and knowledgeable. I suggest the club sandwich as a quick filling lunch, but nearly every item on the menu has been very good. It's a nice variety of selection too, so nearly whatever you crave, you'll be sure to find something satisfying.

I have eaten here too many times to count. The place has a cool vibe and sixties decor but is very crowded and noisy. I prefer weather permitting to eat on the porch. It's more spacious and had a beautiful fire place and is dog friendly I highly recommend the hanger steak and shrimp and grits. Even the spaghetti and meatballs are awesome. They have a full bar and a cool crowd, it ranges from 20 something's to late 50-60's. Worth the drive!!

I came here with some friends on a weekday evening. The small restaurant was packed even on Thursday night. It was still completely full even when we left at close to 10pm. The restaurant must be doing something right to have those types of crowds. Our server was friendly and efficient, and he did a great job handling our very large group. I ordered the goat cheese ravioli which was very good. Then again, I'm obsessed with goat cheese and will like almost any dish that has it. I just wish there was more food in the dish as I was still hungry when I finished. The only negative is the parking situation. It's a small lot that fills quickly. I parked in some dirt lot area up a hill. It rained while I was at the restaurant which turned the dirt into thick mud. Thankfully my SUV has AWD otherwise I probably would've needed a tow truck.

My first trip. Not terribly impressed. I had high hopes from friends that said it was outstanding. Maybe I ordered wrong. Atmosphere was unimpressive. Wait person looked as if they'd been up all night. Food was average and kind of pricey. I'll probably give one more chance as the reviews can't be all wrong. Really hoping for a hit upon next try as I really like that they aren't a chain!

We ate brunch Sunday. All was fine but easily forgettable. Nothing stood out. Food was just fine, not exciting, clever or particularly flavorful. Service was professional but not engaging, friendly or memorable.

Have only been here for lunch. The atmosphere is great! The menu is diverse and everything's fresh! We had the veggie burger and it was tasty. We had the chips with bacon and blue cheese, but asked if they could sub fries, and oh my god.. Was it amazing. Would love to try dinner here sometime!

Stopped here on the way back to town. It's really cute and isolated, and the decor was fun and clean. I got the tomato soup, which was very good. The goat cheese bread it comes with made it great. I also got a salad with salmon on top - all the veggies were fresh and that was delicious.

Food was pleasant, service and waitress nice Wine was a disappointment / deceptive Alto Moncayo Veraton 2010 at $55 on the wine list we were served 2011 -- we caught this after the waitress presented the open bottle The wine tasted fine -- don't get me wrong 2010 is $8-$12 more expensive than 2011 at retail Simply NOT into bait and switch tactics

We finally stopped in and had dinner. Drinks were great and dinner was ahhhhmmazing! I got the short ribs and they were so tender and flavorful. Wife got hangar steak and it was delicious. We enjoyed everything about our night. Get here early though...it's intimate and fills up quickly.

We dine here pretty often because it's a 5 minute drive. I would say the food is very good the majority of the time, though we have experienced a few missteps here and there. The family that runs it are all very nice and personable, and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Last Friday, my wife ordered the grouper special which was fantastic--best piece of fish I've tasted in a long time. Their crab dip is fabulous as well, as are most of the meat dishes and the scallops. Good to have a place like this in our neck of the woods.

Who knew you could find fine dining outside the perimeter? The atmosphere at The Union is laid back and casual and a little bit groovy, especially with all the tie-dyed peace signs and the wood-paneled walls that seem straight out of a 70's hustler movie. Definite hidden gem that mixes Southern comfort with fresh ingredients. The salmon with quinoa was a healthy stand out. For appetizers, don't miss the fried calamari that also includes thin slices of lemon fried to a crisp.

We are thankful The Union is practically in our backyard. It's the closest restaurant to the house, so while convenience is a real draw, simple casual food and drink keep us coming back. Now for the small print. The Union is probably not the kind of place you'd drive way out of your way for. The food is only above average. The service is young and mostly attentive. The ambiance is country-hippie-industrial and clean. I'd bet you'd never regret coming to the Union for lunch or dinner, but you'll never say that your experience there was memorable either. Maybe I am being a little harsh for such a cute, out of the way place that does a decent job with food and service. And generally I am a supporter of the restaurant in an accepting, overlook-this-and-that kind of way. I've held off for quite a while in writing a review for The Union because I wanted to be fair, but an experience we had last night kinda summed up the decidedly average experience you will have at the place. Wednesday night. 8 PM. 3 diners at our table. The place is 80% full. Food is good. Service is typical, but I knocked over a nearly full glass of wine at the cramped table. Hey, it was a $15 glass of Krug. No big deal. The server comes over and offers some napkins and club soda for cleanup. Cool. We got this. She comes back after about 3 minutes, and I ask to get another glass of wine. (She hadn't offered immediately after the mishap.) She politely but directly says, "You know, we don't comp for spilled glasses of wine." Hmmm. I get it. My bad. I'll pay $30 for one glass of wine in exchange for my clumsy hands on your cramped table. It's just a little telling of the less than exceed-your-expectations kind of hospitality. I won't cry over it, and it's not going to break the bank. It was just the point of the matter and the bluntness of the server. So, keeping it real here folks, a disappointing 3 stars for The Union though I have really wanted to rate this nearby wanna-be much higher.

A really cool little restaurant out in the country. I stopped in here yesterday with buyer clients who were looking for a home in the Milton High District. We passed this restaurant and decided to stop in and give it a try. Glad we did - it was 97 degrees outside and we all had a great lunch and re hydrated. I had the club sandwich and home fries and the sandwich and bread were very good - and large! My clients kids had the huge burgers and pasta and everyone was very pleased with the food. I was particularly impressed by the attentive wait staff and and the unexpected cool almost in-town decor, housed in what looks like a turn of the century country store. I thought the prices were very reasonable. Everything on the menu seemed to have a gourmet twist - I won't hesitate to stop in again when I am in the area.

Cute little restaurant in the middle of suburbia. Usually the dishes are well prepared and quite good, reasonably priced and served by friendly people. I've been here many times in the past and love sitting outside on a warm spring/summer evening. Tonight I went there specifically for their brick chicken (I think they call it wood-fired) and it was super dry. This is the first time ever that this has happened, so I was really disappointed. I've really loved going to this restaurant, so am hoping this was just a one-time thing.

The atmosphere, service and location are all great. The steak frites can be inconsistent, and the associated sauce often lumpy. I can get past the lumps, but what really chaps my hide is the troublemaker margarita. We've ordered this particular drink on several occasions, each time remaining hopeful, but each time there was no, as in none, zero, zilch, nada, alcohol. I'm not expecting a Miss Mae's (google it, a New Orleans benchmark for heavy drinking) drink that is 95% alcohol and 5% ice, but if you call a drink something like "troublemaker" I would expect that there may be some trouble in there, somewhere, perhaps, maybe. June 2014 Update: The Union seems to have gotten their act together somewhat, but I'm sticking to beer/wine, because I'm a cheap bastard.

Glorious! Don't know why this place only has 3-stars. It's like a hidden gem. Great food that isn't classic southern fair. Salads are to die for! Their arugula salad is my favorite and their ravioli and club sandwich are amazing as well. Coming from CALIFORNIA originally, I'm always looking for non-chain restaurants that have healthy options and actually taste good. This place has great ambiance outside in the spring and fall. Service has always been great too. The best part? It's inexpensive for the amount of food and quality that you get. Excellent must visit when in Alpharetta, Milton or Cumming!

I had a fantastic dinner here today! The food tasted great, I had the Escalope Salmon and my date had a custom order of plane shrimp and mashed potatoes since she can only eat certain things. The service was good even though it was busy. Next time I'm going to try some of the cocktails, they look tasty.

This is a pretty cool place. My salmon was cooked perfectly and my wife's burger was great. Service was okay... Not over the top but ok. We had the wings as an appetizer and the salad wedge. My wife and I shared the wedge and they brought it cut in half on two separate plates which was nice. Total bill was about $50 without alcohol. Would go again.

2nd time visit. Food is good, the waitstaff is very good. Was there last night with a party of 7. Shrimp and grits, gnocchi, and scallops were big hits with the table. Only drawback is we spent half the night battling flies from landing on the food. I get that it's horse country over there, but that's a little too much realism.

Second time was still good, but not as good as the first. Maybe it was our selections. Had the black bean and quinoa cake. Not bad. A little dry. I had the hanger steak steak. Blah, nothing special. She had the butternut squash agnolotti. Fine, but again, nothing special. Would try again.

Came here on a Friday night at about 7:30pm. Nice casual atmosphere and a musician was just setting up. Patio looked nice but there were no seats so we sat inside. Service was good, food was very good too. Started with a bottle of Merlot ($25) and the Grilled Pimento Cheese Sandwiches w/ a side of hummus ($7)- very good. My entree was the special - seared grouper on top of a butternut squash/spinach risotto and arugala salad ($22) - VERY good. My friend had the shrimp and grits-unique flavor profile but good as well. Dessert was the Blueberry Crisp ($7) fresh out of the oven...delicious! I'm definitely coming back again if only to sit at the bar and listen to the the musician, who by the way was VERY good. If I had to have a negative I'd say the hostess stand was a bit too slow in servicing people as they came in and the owner/manager just stood in the kitchen looking oblivious to it. And with it being a small restaurant the musician was bit too loud and my friend and I struggled to hear each other. Overall though I liked it!

So we tried this place for lunch the other day. Small little place, very ecclectic style. You walk into the restaurant and all you can see is a small bar, a bunch of wine bottles, and an open kitchen with flames leaping and all sorts of interesting things cooking. It's a casual style restaurant and I felt comfortable there. We decided to have a light lunch, so we decided to try their appetizer of fried calamari, shrimp, and clams. The calamari was a bit tough, a slight chewiness to it, but it wasn't bad and it infact grew on me as I continued to eat. I actually ate the clams! Shocking I know, but you really couldn't tell what you were eating. The shrimp was quite good, but there were very few of them. All in all, it was an ok dish but a bit pricey for what you actually got. I got the tomato bisque and it was pretty good. It had a heat to it that didn't burn your tongue but hit you in the back of the throat. It was interesting in a good way. The flavor was great, as was the texture. The bread was slightly toasted and was smeared with goat cheese. It really complimented the dish. I would totally order this again. Light and yummy. However it was pretty small. Was unimpressed by the size. Justin ordered the grilled salmon sandwich, which was an open faced sandwich with arugula, tomatoes, bacon and a cream sauce. They actually asked him how he prefered his salmon cooked which was cool. American restaurants seem to always over cook fish. He was able to give his preference, and he enjoyed the sandwich. He said it was light and flavorful, and that the tomatoes were really quite good. I nibbled some of his fries and I agree with him that they were very tasty and had a nice crisp to them. All in all a nice restaurant, but pricey. As we were there for lunch, and I believe the prices will be higher for the dinner menu, which I think is over the top. Even so, they had a number of menu options that sounded quite good, and the atmosphere was nice. Not sure if we will be back.

Fastastic food, fantastic menu. Chicken stir-fry, gnocchi, and tuna are the highlights, and the price is great here too. Beer list is satisfactory. Biggest drawback is the noise and the cramped dining area, but the quality of the food more than makes up for this slight nuisance. It's really nice to have a restaurant of this quality in Milton and close to Canton. I hope the Sedgewicks continue to prosper and spread their food to the masses.

Enjoyed a good meal with some friends on a Saturday night around 9 p.m. The restaurant was really bustling and had a nice vibe, but the acoustics were terrible. It was so loud! Food: We ordered the wings (amazing seasonings), and fried seafood for apps and then Shrimp and Grits and Cavatelli for our entrees. The shrimp and grits dish was very good, but it was definitely sitting in a pool of butter. I'm a fan of butter, but it was too much! Drinks: bartender made a fantastic dirty martini and we then had wine. Selection was good. Service: the waitress was friendly but busy, so attentiveness was lacking. We had to ask where our apps were after waiting almost 20 minutes. Overall: 3.5 stars. I'd go back again if ever in town. I know my Alpharetta friends enjoy it and consider it a trusted local favorite.

I really wanted The Union to be really good. I had met one of the folks who was working in the kitchen for the launch and he spoke with enthusiasm about how good the food was when they opened (2008?). OK fast forward to Feb 2011. We went over on a weekend afternoon. The place was not full so there was no pressure on the servers or the kitchen. The menu looked good and the servers were very attentive. We ordered: Salmon BLT Bob' Pittsburgh Pizza (a modified meat lovers) Kids Chicken Tenders Diet Cokes Lemonade This is probably a "me" kind of pet peeve but I don't care for it when they charge hotel vending machine prices for beverages, serve it in a can and there's no way to get a refill without buying it over and over again. But that's me. The Salmon BLT - It was cooked correctly. That was a plus, but it wasn't seasoned other than a pretty bland BBQ sauce. Rather than a crisp leaf or two of lettuce and a fresh slice of tomato, the sandwich has that shredded lettuce confetti that tastes like nothing, has no crunch and falls out of the sandwich, and the tomato slice had seen better days. The toast the sandwich was served on tough and spongy. I've had better at national chain restaurants. The Pizza - It looked OK when it came out but the texture and flavor was bewildering. I can't explain it other than to say it was "wet". Not saucy, not juicy, but wet. There was a wateriness (a word?) to the sauce and condensation under the crust on the pizza plate. Meh. The Chicken Tenders and Fries - The best thing we were served! Overall I think they need to pay better attention to the quality of their ingredients, preparation and the little details. We're not in a hurry to go back.

Went to this place right after it opened. Had their signature dish, the Elvis. It was shrimp and grits, extra buttery and fantastic. A few trips later there is a new chef, and Elvis has left the building. On roughly 6 visits we have had good service twice. Terrible service twice, and mediocre the rest. Food runs about the same, although never quite terrible. It has never matched our first visit, which was really pretty fantastic. I may go back, but it would be their last chance at keeping my business. Decor and original vibe this place could have been great. Once the changes started, the place started slipping.

I have gone to this restaurant a lot since it opened about 5 years ago. Food has never been that good. Bar is good and that is why we return. Just ate again recently to give it another try and the butternut soup was good but cold, asked for blue cheese wedge salad with no scallions, came with scallions. Pizza is a hit or miss, mostly miss. Man next to us sent his food back and it still wasn't right, they wrote it off on his bill. No consistency. No portion control. Very loud when it gets crowded. I am sure to continue to return for drinks but nothing else.

One of my new favorites! Has a very unique feel to it, reminded me of an eclectic upscale, but casual beach town restaurant. I went on a friday night and it was very crowded, but I can see why. In a pretty odd location, in the middle of horse pastures and country clubs, The Union caters to families as well as couples wanting to enjoy a nice meal in a cool environment. My only real complaint is the parking, theres very few parking spaces and it might be a good idea for them to build a small parking lot (there was a small field away from the restaurant towards the Freemanville intersection that might make a good spot). Also, the live musicians, while they were very good, were way too loud. We had to eventually start screaming at our table just so we could hear eachother. The staff is all very friendly (and very young, for the most part) and they never once dropped the ball during my visit. Our waitress was most exceptional and we tipped her very well. The food was all very excellent. I fell in love with the Creamed Corn, Jalepeno Mac and Cheese, as well as the delicious Filet Mignon that I had (the sauce it came with was to die for). Someone in our party had the special of the night which was a Crab entree and did not love it. The desert, "Coffee and Donuts" was very creative and tasty. The donuts, which were actually beignets, were not too sweet and tasted a lot like little croissants. The "Coffee" was espresso ice cream and I found it a little hard to eat.. I think they should offer one that does not have chocolate chips, because they were huge and made it hard to scoop into the beignets (do most people do that!?). Overall, this is exactly what the Milton/Birmingham community needs, and I'm very glad to see that it is thriving! Will DEFINITELY be returning

I live near the Union and absolutely love it! The food is great, the servers are attentive and the burger and fries is a great meal. Full dinner meals are a bit pricey but sandwiches and salads are great and reasonably priced. Give it a try!

Love this place! One of our favorite hangouts. Nothing better than going there on a warm evening and sharing a few "Troublemakers". The food is always good. The pizzas are always amazing and the hamburgers are to die for! The Shrimp and Grits...Oh My! The staff is always friendly and makes you feel like you belong. Amanda, Kimmie and Ashleigh are the tops!

Good wine selection. Menu struggles to have soul. When they first opened, the menu reflected a distinct theme, now just a meandering hodge podge of mediocre menu items. Fair to less fair. Music overbearing if dining indoors. Needs a big menu renovation and a commitment to a genre.

surprisingly good food way the heck out OTP. only downside was the really annoying/bizarre outside music. mostly bad music from the 90s. not a deal-breaker and an easy fix.

Just tried The Union after watching its construction for the past few months. The interior is small, but cozy, decorated with what appears to be a early-70's vibe. The "Muzak" was excellent, playing AOR type songs from the 60's and 70's (Spencer Davis Group, Jimi Hendrix, among others). The owner or manager, I never did find out, came around to various tables chatting to patrons, complete with a "Dark Side of the Moon" T-shirt and "peace" symbol. The wait and server staff is young, good looking, very casual, and sharp. We had a party of 5, and our orders were taken by memory (which I generally dislike), but everything came out exactly as ordered, and quickly. Taking advantage of the complimentary valet parking is a must, with very little parking area. The valets were also very courteous and fast. The food was certainly good (I had the clams), if a bit heavy on the spices. My party is not one for "adventurous" foods, and I think it was too much for them. The cheddar grits on the "Elvis" (shrimp) were a hit with everyone. An appetizer I've not ever seen before was the "Pickle Plate", a potpourri of pickled items; peppers, onions, artichoke hearts and of course, pickles. Very good and enjoyed by all. Overall a 3 1/2 to 4 star place. They seemed to not have any "startup" issues, and the employees know how to run a restaurant well.

I just happened to be in Milton, GA recently to my surprise, and somehow we happened upon this place. And it was surprisingly good. We were just sort of desperate to finally get lunch and weren't expecting much, but the food here is really good, actually. I'll probably never come here again, just because it's WAY outside my neck of the woods or anywhere else I frequent from time to time, but if I lived in the area, I could see myself as somewhat of a regular. The food here is basically somewhat upscale American with Southern influences, and we just got main courses. I had Jay's shrimp and grits, and my dining companion had the pork Milanese. The shrimp and grits had a real nice melange of flavors, with the shrimp, the bacon, the cheddar grits, and the lemon butter sauce standing out amongst the other flavors of the dish (scimini mushrooms, scallions, and roasted peppers rounding out the dish). It's also gluten free by the way, which means next to nothing to me, but could really come in handy for some, I'm sure. I had a little taste of the pork Milanese, which didn't appeal to me as much as the shrimp and grits, but was still good, and my dining companion sure liked it. I was told that the pork Milanese is even better than the veal version of the dish because there's less fat and it still tastes as good. I had the iced tea (prepared "sweet") to drink and my DC had white wine. I had two glasses of the delicious iced tea and the white wine was also very good. I'd recommend sitting outside on a nice day. The ambiance is pretty nice, the waiter plays "70's" music on his iPod which he has hooked up to the speakers. He has sort of a punk rock look with tattoos and everything, and he told us that he plays in a punk band. The music he plays isn't punk rock, though, which is good IMHO. It's more classic rock type stuff which I prefer. Anyway, if you're in Milton, GA for some reason, stop on by :).

food is mediocre. stick with the burgers and u should be ok. place needs pay more attention to detail and the quality of the food. it shouldn't try to be all things to all people. just pick something and be good at it. they had spagetti dish that didn't have any fresh herbs in it. not a good thing. if italian is not your thing, take it off the menu. nice location and easy to park.
