Some good 'que. Prices a bit excessive for individual plates but much better deals to be had if you browse the family meal deals on the back wall behind you as you stand at the counter looking at the main menu. Seems this deceiving placement of the family meal deals on the unsuspecting back wall might not be on accident. Good overall. Go hit Swallow in Roswell for even better chow.

Some of the best BBQ I've had! Great service, too! HIGHLY recommend.

This place is always at the local BBQ festivals and is located right next to a nail salon I frequent. I was STARVING before my nail appt and ran in for a quick lunch. I got pulled pork and side of brunswick stew and pickles. The pork was soooo good. Very moist and tender! The brunswick was good, but not the best I've ever had by any means. Would def. eat here again if I was in the area. Maybe next time I'll go out on a carb limb and try the amazing looking mac-n-cheese.

The only reason I give this restaurant 2 stars is because the barbecue was good BUT... The service was awful. The staff was rude and not very helpful. When I walked in and ordered I asked for onions on my sandwich and they said they don't serve onions. What barbecue restaurant doesn't serve onions with barbecue. Then I ordered and I got 2 sides for 3.50$ the sides were smaller than a small cup of ice cream. I was amazed they could serve something like that. Then when I asked for a glass of water I had to get ice out of a retro unclean cooler. They had no fountain drinks. I would not recommend dining in with them but I have to admit the meat is quality and the sides were good even though I only had like one bite.

I have to grant Grand Champion BBQ a five star update! I returned today and placed a to-go order. I ordered 1/2 chicken with collard greens and macaroni & cheese. Although there is no "combination plate" of chicken and ribs. Two ribs can be added for $3. I could not pass up trying the ribs again! I was not disappointed with the smoked chicken. It was tender and juicy; including the breast. I tried the NC style sauce on the chicken; it was great! The macaroni & cheese is good here also. It is thick and creamy. And I typically do not eat macaroni & cheese. If you want great tasting BBQ; this is the place!

My brother worked here and he always brought me the redneck lasagna, or sometimes my own Brunswick stew and mac and cheese to put my own together. Truly great food! The macaroni and cheese alone will have you coming back for more.

Finally good BBQ for a fair price! The brisket is amazingly tender and not greasy, ribs are also good. Just a note tho' the seasoning is light and not abrasive. Banana pudding is wonderful. And for all of you that order online, their site is very user friendly...bonus.

Just move to Atlanta area from Texas so me and my family were hungry for some good smoked bbq. True to its name, grand champion bbq blew my mind. Most bbq joints are good at one, maybe two meats. But we sampled brisket, pork, ribs and sausage and every single one was expertly done. The sweet sauce was a great complement. Also tried the Brunswick stew which was very tasty. And don't forget the delicious Mac n cheese. The only chink in GCBbQ armor is its sides. The green beans and slaw both were not good...and actually tasted a bit odd. But other than that, my whole family thoroughly enjoyed this meal. We will be regulars.

This is a local gem in the Crabapple area of Atlanta. Went there on a whim for a tapas type gathering that we were having at home and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the food. Slow cooked brisket, chicken and sausage. I've had brisket in Austin Texas which I thought couldn't be topped. As Everyone knows Austin is the capital of brisket and barbecue but, it has met its rival right here in Atlanta. What's so special is that the meat is carved to exclude most all fat from the brisket thus you get nothing but tasty slow cooked meat. Chicken cooked to perfection and the sausage is awesome. I had green beans, baked beans and macaroni for my side dishes. All were seasoned to perfection. The macaroni and cheese being the only thing that needed improving. Overall, 4 stars for this place. I will return again and again. Thank you GC for making my impromptu birthday celebration a success!

EVERYTHING we ordered was mouth watering delicious. the entire office went for 2nd and 3rd plates! I would recommend GC BBQ to everyone who asks! OUR order was- brisket, mac n cheese, baked beans, pulled pork and collared greens!

This place was recommended by the venue coordinator where I'm getting married, next April. I'm soooooo glad I took her advice! Since we plan on serving BBQ at our wedding, we've been trying a bunch of places, with mixed results. Enter Grand Champion. We had been out on a family outing, so we decided to grab some food to go. I walked in on a Sunday, the restaurant is really clean and cute, and it smelled terrific, but that doesn't necessarily mean the food will be good. I saw what they had to offer, and the girl behind the counter was really friendly, and helped me put together an order of their pulled pork, and brisket, plus their well - talked about mac & cheese, green beans, and baked beans. She also gave me both sweet and vinegar bbq sauces, suggesting that we mix them together, I paid, and off I went with this awesome smelling package. We live about 25 minutes from this location, yet the food was still hot, the pulled pork and brisket were FABULOUS, super-moist, very flavorful, and the bark of the pork had a terrific flavor. Because of the amounts of cream and cheese in the mac & cheese, I put it in a sauce pan to warm it up, because I ate it later. The much - welcomed addition of gouda to this dish, made it very savory, and the noodles they use are rigatoni, instead of shells. Again, just cheesy goodness. The green beans were yummy, and the baked beans were just right, not too sweet! We did mix up some sauces, and it really tasted amazing, although to be honest, the meat didn't need anything! The food quality is out of this world, and we were definitely happy! I called my wedding planner today. We've decided to use Grand Champion to cater our wedding. That's trust in itself, and we will definitely be back to grab more food for lunch and dinner. Grand Champion BBQ is good stuff!

Great BBQ and friendly staff. Really great brisket which seems harder to find in Georgia. Mac-n-cheese a very good side. Not a lot of seating but do have a patio area with extra tables outside. If you're in the mood for some BBQ you can't go wrong here!

We got a "to-go" order via Go Waiter. The Mac-and-Cheese came highly recommended, so we ordered double. Upon delivery, this dish was nothing but a glistening mess of greasy, slimy butter. In addition, the green beans were way overcooked. I called the restaurant and spoke with 3 people. The 2nd person argued with me. Then I spoke to the manager on duty. He told me he would call me back once he spoke to the owner, Gregory. Never heard from the manager. Gregory called me about a week later and continued to question my order. HOLY COW. I don't have time to explain what was wrong with the order AGAIN! Bad business. It was $40. I realize any business looks for profit, not loss. But, geez...STOP arguing with customers. I have tons of pictures of the food. I don't have any more time to argue with you about how the beans were prepared or how the mac and cheese should be reheated.

Nestled on the corner of old crabapple , is champions bbq. Reminds me a lot of an old ma and pop restaurants with the quaintness of the store. All the meats are cooked and chopped fresh in front of you when you order. I tried the bbq pulled pork and the bbq ribs and was not disappointed. Will have to to come back to try their desserts.

They close at 730pm and i stroll in at 723 right after spending 200$ at the grocery store I still have nothing for dinner. This happens more than I care to admit. Anyway..... they have a family meal to go...1.5 lbs of protein, 2 sides, 4 Texas toast, and a gallon of sweat tea.... all for the whopping price of $40. You may think that's a lot, you may not, I do. The pork cooked perfectly. Great smell and nice flavor smoked but not too much. The sausage is not wet or greasy just good flavor. The mac n cheese I think is the best ever... the potato salad is ok blends well with the meal. The 2 sauces are really good. Not over powering and tangy. The place serves bottled beer and has about 10 tables. They have a nice patio and for nice days you can bring your dog. You order your meal and they bring it to you. No wait staff free refills on tea and water. The plastic ware is pretty flimsy and they need to have stronger forks and knives. I believe this is good bar b q.... when you walk to downtown crabapple from local neighborhoods it is the best choice for a bite with dogs and tennis shoes. Best choice on that corner.. unless you do Miltons... which is too fancy or stuffy on your way home from Kroger.

Everything I had was good. Had brisket and pulled pork. The mac and cheese was AWESOME! Brunswick Stew was pretty good too. Banana pudding was good too. Just a solid BBQ place.

I ordered catering for pickup for my wife's birthday party. It turned out great. We got pork, brisket, collards and beans. Everything was ready for our friends who picked up on time. Was a surprise for my wife so we got there 2 hours after they picked up. Pork and brisket were still moist and tender. Some of the best brisket i ever had. Collards were delicious. Glad i ordered more than i needed, so i could eat more. I never have been to the restaurant because we live in Kennesaw, but if i am around the area i definitely will. I hear the mac and cheese is great.

Hands down best BBQ in the Atlanta metro area. I eat here 3 times a week and every person I've brought is a new life long customer. The pulled pork with the original sauce is off the charts. Best deal is the Mon-Fri lunch special Sandwich,Chips & Drink $8.03 including the tax. Upgrade the chips to a side for $1.00. I like the Mac and cheese but truly love the potato salad. Staff is always great. The only draw back if any is I wish they stayed open a little later and had more dessert options.

We had a fabulous experience! The brisket is oh sooo good! They are apparently known for their mac and cheese and indeed it was very good, as was the smoked sausage, smoked chicken, and the baby back ribs. The service was awesome - a friendly greeting when we walked in the door, patience with our questions regarding the menu and following up with us to make sure everything was okay. Awesome! The only thing I'd change is that the stems were not part of the greens when served, but realizing that may be regional (we're not from here and remove all stems on our greens) we're not reducing our rating. It was a great overall experience.

Well I must say I'm disappointed. It is Friday night in downtown Milton looking to have dinner with my wife and 1 year old. We walk in at 7:55 and want to get something and have a nice sit down dinner and are told that it is carry out only. My advice is if your hours go to 8:00, please provide the same level of service at 7:55 as you would at 6;00. Otherwise post what time your dining room closes. Sorry we couldn't get there sooner, but who closes at 8 on a Friday in such a popular area.

The place is clean, the people are nice, the brisket is neither dry nor chewy, and the sandwich portion of meat is just right.

I was surprised to find they deliver! Also they are open 7 days a week (most bbq is closed on Sunday & /or Monday). Great mac & cheese. I haven't tried brisket but will update review after I try it. Plain pork sandwich are OK but not amazing. For convenience of location it is really great bbq at good prices.

I like this place. Best deal is the bbq sammy and a bag of chips. The sides are good but too expensive for the portion you get.

It was about 3pm and we were looking to grab a snack. We heard that this place had some AUSSOM Mac and Cheese so wanted to try it for ourselves. As we entered in the restaurant, it smelled amazing! My son tried a side of the Mac and I tried the brisket. The Mac was very cheesy and good, my son really liked it. The Brisket was moist and cooked very gently. It was very tasty as I tried it in both of the BBQ sauces. The staff came over a few times to make sure we were satisfied and to see if we needed anything else. We were very happy with our experience and the food. We will enjoy returning back to Grand Champs!

I like this bbq, but it bothers me that it is always room-temp. I have recently switched to ordering the "redneck lasagna" (brunswick stew dumped over mac & cheese) because it seems to be one of the more consistent items they offer. I have experienced major inconsistencies with the food here in terms of taste and texture. Sometimes it just seems like some of the food has sat on the food line so long that its turned to mush. While the mac & cheese is delicious, its because its macaroni and butter... with a little cheese. I will continue to eat here, but I'm a little disappointed that this location doesn't live up to the legacy of the other Atlanta location.

i'm just gonna say it. the mac and cheese is superb -- memorably superb. almost as good as mine. :) i think about it sometimes. this place might throw you off because it looks more like a sandwich shop than a barbecue joint. the bbq, as it turns out, is actually quite good. it's a bit drier than my preference but smoked tender w/ plenty of meaty flavor. as far as sides go, you know how i feel about the mac and cheese. and while they have a variety of things... oddly, you won't find any fried okra on the menu. despite that, this place could easily pull four stars. however, like some of the other reviews, the price seems strange. the sandwiches are very reasonably priced... but if you want anything to go with it, you're paying a two bucks for a three tablespoons of something or three bucks for the "premium" sides -- like the mac and cheese, of course. at any rate, spiced right is still tops for me.

This is pretty good barbeque. Nothing amazing, their sauces were tasty. Prices were not bad, but I'll get to that shortly. Some of the best potato salad I ever had, Mac N Cheese was good. My wife's brisket was pretty dry but my pork was perfect. The toast was not very toasted. Here's the thing... my wife got a brisket sandwich which was $5.50 and I got the pulled pork platter, which was $11.50, that came with 2 sides. (sides are typically $2 each). I get my "platter" and there is no more meat on it than what my wife had on her sandwich. So, if I paid for my platter piecemeal, I would have spent $5.50 on my pork as a sandwich ($5.50) and two sides ($4 at $2 each)... that is $9.50. What did I spend at extra $2 on?! Plus, if I got the sandwich I would have another slice of bread. I should have taken a picture of how small the portion of pork was. It would have been fine for a sandwich, but for a platter and an extra two bucks... no way! They need to reevaluate their portion sizes.

My husband and I tried this place for lunch today and we'd rate it a resounding "meh." Average, at best; I wouldn't avoid it, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it either. The pros: It was clean, the staff was friendly, and the pulled pork was tender. The cons: The meat and the sauces were bland. The "north carolina style" sauce... wasn't. (To be fair, it *was* vinegar-based). The baked beans had the taste and texture of canned baked beans. The "pulled" pork was in chunks (more like chopped pork, than pulled).

  • Brandon B.

Award winning BBQ. Award winning Mac n Cheese. You have to come here on Friday and get the Short Rib! If you miss out on the Short Rib, the Brisket is hands down the go-to meat. The pulled pork and pork ribs are not far behind. Green beans, collards, baked beans, and slaw are all done very well, but the mac and cheese is worth coming here alone. Seriously, the mac and cheese is the best I have had, in ever, from anywhere.

I live across the street from this place, so I decided to check it out for lunch this week (to go). They had a lunch special for under $10, but I don't eat chips or drink pop (yes I said pop, Midwest forever!), so I opted for the chicken plate, which pushed the bill north of my good friend Alexander. I went with the chicken and they offered two different types of sauces, I chose the vinegar based Carolina style with just a subtle kick, on par to the tap from your date under the table letting you know that you better find a way to stop your friend from talking about politics. Enough to get your attention, not enough to bruise. The baked beans and the green beans were fresh, not soggy and nice alternative to the chips. To truly rate a BBQ joint, you have to get a little red meat in there, soI will tackle that my next trip. To Recap: The Good: For one, the location, I can walk to this place. The chicken and accompanying sides were healthy enough to make it into my rotation and I look forward to sampling the rest of the menu. The Bad: Not bad, but the Carolina sauce could have had a little more kick to it. There other sauce is sweet, it would be nice to add a few more options. The Band This Restaurant Most Resembles: One Republic. They are OK, but I am not ready to rave about them to my friends yet.

I have been to 10+ BBQ joints and this place tops my list. The staff was friendly when I walked in, food got served quickly, and you get a good bit of food for the money. The 5 stars is mostly due to how well the meats are. The beef brisket was juicy, well cooked, and extremely tender! The BBQ sauces compliment the meats very well. The coleslaw is my favorite side. Very creamy, not too sweet. Pulled pork was mildly tender but the sauce made it perfect. I find myself craving this place when I haven't gone in a while. You know its 5/5 when that feeling hits you!

Definitely among Atlanta's best barbeque. I will be back soon and frequently. Let me preface the remainder of this review by saying that this rating was a hair's breadth from 5 stars. However, in my view, a casual counter service place has to be extremely special to rate with the best fine restaurants. GC only missed the mark by a couple small issues. Also, I have unbelievably high standards for barbeque, so all of my criticisms below are very minor nitpicks. None of my dining companions had any negative comments about the food at all. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, they patiently answered our questions and proffered suggestions. The prices were fair given the generous portions. Also, I commend the staff for the 100 on the health score, I'm always impressed to see that. I went with a group, so I had the opportunity to try a variety of items. I ordered the brisket and I was mildly disappointed. It ranks among the better brisket I've had in Atlanta, but it was uneven. The "inside" pieces were a little under seasoned to my taste, didn't have much smoke flavor and were a little dry. The fatty "outside" pieces were excellent. Overall, it was good, but I'll probably order another meat next time. The ribs were the best I've ever had from a restaurant. I'd give them a 97/100. The only criticism I have is that they fell off the bone just a little too easily, I'd like slightly more "pull", but they were so close I could see them being a perfect 100 on another day. The pulled pork was also great. It had an excellent texture, it was falling apart in tender silky threads. It was also juicy. The only critique I have is that the innermost pieces tasted slightly under seasoned and a little lacking in smokiness. But that was a minor issue and I tasted it "un-sauced", so overall it was really good. They offer two sauces, a typical sweet-ish tomato-based sauce and a hotter vinegary "North Carolina" style. I liked the latter better, but my companions all preferred the more typical sauce. Both were good, neither was especially noteworthy. The sides were universally awesome. The collards were extremely meaty. The stew had an incredibly rich depth of flavor. The mac and cheese was the richest, most luxurious, I've ever tasted. The beans were a big surprise. Baked beans are ubiquitous and tend to be pretty generic. But these were well balanced with a great meaty flavor. The coleslaw was a little sweet for me, but I like vinegary coleslaw, I think most slaw fans will love it. I didn't try the potato salad or the green beans, but my companions said they would order them again. The plates also came with an unremarkable piece of toast. We also tried the banana pudding, which I can't make an honest assessment of because it's not my Nana's banana pudding and, to me, it will never be as good. However, everyone else was very impressed. The homemade pies also looked really good. My one real complaint is that the trashcan in the dining room for bussing tables is really small. The trays the food come on won't easily fit in the "mouth" of the can so you have to pick the trash up off your tray and put it in the can, which almost inevitably will get your hands "saucy". Also, the only place to put the trays is on top of the can, which is smaller than the trays themselves, so they don't sit there very well. If you expect your customers to bus the dining area you should provide adequate facilities for them to do so.

Stopped in here one evening having no idea what to expect because we just moved to the area and happened to see this place. I had the pulled pork sandwich and my husband had the pulled pork platter with potato salad and the baked beans. First, we both found the pork to be tender, smokey, and flavorful. The two sauces on the table were both worth trying even if you think you know which one you'll prefer. The beans and the potato salad surprised me. I wasn't expecting much since I'm usually disappointed with sides. First, the portions were big enough that we shared them. The potato salad was perfectly balanced with just enough mustard and didn't require salting. The beans were a good mix of sweet and savory. We will be going back for sure. Maybe we came after a busy day and the staff was worn out, but the one area that I was disappointed about was the friendliness of the staff. Fortunately the food made up for the irritated attitude.

GCBBQ is some of the best bbq you will find period and it's consistently always good. They don't try to re-invent anything, they just serve up really really good food. Like the Mac and cheese, it's just Mac and cheese but holy cow it's good. I just ordered the pulled pork with a side of sausage like usual and the pork was so moist I could have easily eaten it without any sauce. There is an attention to detail here that is rare in restaurants, trust me when I say this is some damn good food. They are also super friendly, laid back but always make sure we have everything we need. This is probably my 12th meal here and it was better than the first 11 and I thought the first 11 were pretty damn good. So much so that I joined yelp just to write a review.

Pork, green beans and cole slaw were all very good. Didn't love either barbecue sauce, would love a few more choices-a spicy one especially. All in all very good, fresh and quick. I'll be back.

I am certainly a fan. I travel by the place almost everyday on my way home from work and i just decided to stop in and check it out and let me tell you, they were hands on friendly staff and the food was delicious. My top favorites are the brisket and believe me this meat will melt in your mouth and the mac n cheese is so creamy and heavenly, it definitely hit the spot. I've been there 3 times and the standard of the food and friendly staff is always the same which is great. I workout allot and this is my perfect balance of high protein and of course need the carbs and all the extra calories to build muscle mass. Overall great experience and i would definitely recommend this place. Jaden C.

once again a great Place to eat.. They know how to Smoke Meat. No sauce dripping off the meat to hide the flavor and it's going to melt in your mouth..

I spend a lot of time smoking on my big green egg, so I can be somewhat of a snob when it comes to BBQ, but this place is a little gem. The brisket is some of the best I have had and the pulled pork melts in your mouth. Not a place you go for atmosphere, but the employees are friendly and the food is great. We end up taking a couple of pounds of something home at least once a week.

Just on a fluke we decided to try GC BBQ for the first time on a Saturday night before closing. After trying the Beef Brisket, Chicken, and Ribs, we can honestly say, this is the best BBQ we have tasted anywhere. In addition, all of the vegetables (green beans, collards, and coleslaw) were all very fresh. We also enjoyed meeting the owner and staff who all listened closely to our stories of a former family BBQ Restaurant in Conyers called Bill's Smoke House. Highly Recommend!

  • Jim B.

The best BBQ brisket ever. Great sauces. Excellent baked beans. Macaroni and cheese is usually good, too, but today mine wasn't even warm. Lunch was $16 - WOW! No wonder I was the only customer in the restaurant. This is way too pricey for lunch no matter how good it is. The hospitality of the order taker left a lot to be desired. No greeting. No thank you. The rest of the time she just stood around - didn't attempt conversation or check on me. If this place is going to survive, they need to seriously update their hospitality and customer service and update their prices
