First visit... VERY FRIENDLY staff! Price was a little higher than usual- but worth every penny. HUGE portions- shareable sizes. Waiter took time to explain menu, ask probing questions in order to recommend items we might like! (EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE) We are from out of town and had some business to take care of... The staff was very accommodating with our longer than normal visit. Even made it a point to make sure we felt comfortable after our meal to finish conducting our business. The manager, hearing that it was our first visit, came out to ensure our meal and service were both acceptable. Superb visit- best restaurant visit we have had in the month we have been in Atlanta. Meal- fajitas and bacon wrapped shrimp - 5 stars!! Staff- 5 stars! Atmosphere- 5 stars Price - 4 stars

I'm kind of a snob when it comes to Tex-Mex food, and this place doesn't pass muster. I went here with my family to celebrate my move to the area and we left disappointed. The food is bland, the drinks are weak, and everything is overpriced. Pappasito's is huge. There are dozens of tables and even if there is a crowd, you can probably be seated quickly. We waited for about fifteen minutes and then were shown to a table. We ordered a round or drinks and then our food. The margaritas were okay but they were weak. That's common, though, so I can live with it. They did taste excellent, and they were large. The food was okay - we ordered mostly tacos and fajitas. Nothing was bad, but it wasn't good either. It was certainly not worth the price. The service was slow, but the waiter did a good job of keeping our water glasses full. He tried hard, but I suspect he was given too many tables at one time. This place is like a tourist trap - you don't get your money's worth, but there is at least a little fun to be had. I don't recommend it, but I also had fun with my family here. Spend your time and money elsewhere.

Honestly, I just come here for drinks and appetizers. If you are in a rush, don't come here because service is SUUUUUUUUPER slow. Even when I'm at the bar, it takes more than a minute for me to get my drink. And drink as in a corona. The appetizers are good though. I usually just get chips and queso. But overall, this place is just meh. To emphasize... in a rush? Don't come here...

Dinner June 18 First off, I have been eating at Pappasitos since I first ate there in Houston back in the early 2000's. I have long been a huge fan of their Great food, incredible favors, and always attentive service. Previously, my only complaint was the noise level, where it gets so loud, you can't talk to anyone at ur table. But and this is a big huge but, when did their prices go through the freaking roof! The smallest order of fajitas is $26.95. Oh and if you want sour cream and cheese with that, it's $1.45 extra. Now, It says it serves 1-2 people, I made 4 fajitas. And that cost $28.40. Is this what fajitas cost at the ones in Texas? Is this just price gouging in Atlanta? With Chuy's fajitas at 1/2 that cost and just as good, I am afraid my days at Pappasitos are finished. Sorry Papa, I just can't afford you any longer.

Just what we needed after a long day of walking around in the heat (Spring Jonquil Festival)! The food, although overpriced for Mexican/Tex-mex, was DELICIOUS! I had the Shrimp brochette with chicken & beef fajitas. It came with pico, guacamole, melted butter & rice with pinto beans. The shrimp brochette was not what I was used to, it was a bit too salty & I would not order again. The chicken & beef for the fajitas were cooked to perfection, the chicken was soooo juicy, good enough to eat without a tortilla. This dish was definitely not typical fajitas that contain more veggies than meat. They were hearty & filling, worth what you pay for them. I also had a frozen strawberry margarita to go along with my meal. It was everything I had hoped for and more, it had the perfect amount of everything. For me, there's no need to try any other drink in there menu, this was my perfect margarita. SO YUMMY!! My kids had quesadillas, one cheese & one beef, they came with rice & refried beans. The refried beans were THE BEST! I ate all of my daughter's & used them as a dip for the chips, with a little sour cream. My son's beef quesadilla was enough food food for him to eat 3 times if he needed to. The quesadillas were stuffed with medium well, super flavorful grilled steak, & two different types of cheese! My husband could not leave them alone!! By the time our food came out we were already stuffed to the brim. I tried one of my fajitas & packed the rest for later. No dessert for me this time. The downside, the table was way too small for a family of four. There was not enough room to maneuver, and it was uncomfortable. We were constantly having to clear the table and stack plates, we even sat stuff on the empty tables that surrounded us. This, along with the noisy atmosphere made it hard to relax & take in the scenery. Service was great. Everyone was sweet & our server was very knowledgable (he actually recommended the strawberry margarita over a diff drink that I was considering & I'm so glad he did)! Overall, It's a nice restaurant, my husband and I plan to return without the kids.

This is difficult to write this as a 4 star review as I thought this place was excellent! It is Mexican and you ordinarily wouldn't expect to pay so much for Mexican food, even TexMex. However, the food was divine. The service was outstanding and I truly believe that the staff's attention and concern about my having a great dining experience may have made the food taste even better. I even called the manager over to complement the bartenders on their service. They had the best salsa I have ever had and almost made a meal of it. The meal portions were outstanding. Definitely would go more often if I could afford it.

This restaurant has always been one of my favorites. the food is incredible, and they make the tortillas right there in the sitting area. It's entertaining to watch :) The staff is always very kind, always willing to make your dining experience the best. Some nights, you can experience the amazing Mariachi band that walk around and play while you eat. Their rendition of "Achy Breaky Heart" is priceless. I'd definitely recommend this place!

I came here twice in one week. Considering it's on the expensive side that tells you the food is delicious. Don't come looking for authentic Mexican food...it's more like Tex Mex meets the ocean. The seafood dishes are great and I didn't feel skimped on the food for the price. Also the drinks are good and fair priced.

Pappasito's Cantina sits across the parking lot from Pappadeaux on Windy Hill. The parking lot was packed when I arrived and I thought there would be a wait. But, no. I found that many people parked in 'sito's parking lot to walk over to 'deaux. Anyway, this place is super huge and able to accommodate a whole lot of folks. They probably never have a wait with that amount of square footage. Yelper reviews said that they have great margaritas, so I went for one and I liked it pretty well. A nice lady brought out chips with three types of salsa, which I thought was great. The chips were really, really good. Light and crispy and warm. The salsas were good also. I ordered the chicken fajitas for my meal. Here's what I need. I need for my fajitas to come to the table sizzling loud, leaving a trail of smoke, and causing a scene. This is not what I got and that disappointed me. My other disappointment was that no cheese came with them. I didn't know that cheese could NOT come with fajitas, but you live and you learn. Personally, I think an arrest should be made about it. They almost (but not quite) made up for cheeselessness with that delicious garlic butter sauce they served with my meal. It was quite yummy and really lifted the fajitas. The chicken was flavorful and moist on its own, but add that sauce and magic occurs. It wouldn't hurt for them to add some bell peppers to the fajita mix either. While just having the chicken and onions was okay, peppers would only make the fajitas better. I loved the tortillas. They looked as if they had been warmed for a few seconds over a flame. Quite good. I'll go ahead and mention the beans. They were on point. Very good, seasoned nicely, and in a juice that was slurpable. Also, they did a good job with the cilantro rice. It was tasty. Our server was very nice and very helpful. He was attentive in the perfect way. I saw a lot of very interesting meals going to other tables and I'll probably be back to test out a few more items. The presentation of these others' meals has got me very curious. I saw something hanging from some kind of hook, shrimp piled up like a bonfire on a plate, and something on fire delivered to a table. I need to know exactly what all that is about, so yeah, I'll be back and perhaps I can add more stars. Perhaps.

The food here is very good, I have no complaints on quality. The service we received was exceptional. Cheese dip is wonderful but $8. I just don't understand how a small thing of cheese can be $8 when most places charge $4-$5. The fajitas were good but not very authentic in my opinion. Margarita was great also. My friend and I split a cheese dip, fajitas, and each had 1 house margarita and our total was $44. Pretty steep for Mexican if you ask me. It doesn't keep people away because at 2pm the parking lot was almost full.

"Good, but nothing special" pretty much sums up this place Located right next to Pappadeux. This place stays packed. We got there at 8pm on a Saturday night and had a 30 min wait. Not horrible. We ended up just sitting at a table at the bar. These tables are best for 2 people if you're eating. There were 3 of us, and we used every inch of the table top. We ordered a pitcher Platinum margarita which is their normal margarita with Patron tequila and Patron citronge. It's a $55 pitcher, but it's a pretty good size and good for 3-4 people. Pretty good tasting drunk and had me buzzing a little bit. They serve complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa is served warm...which I hated. I need it chilled. The chips were decent. Not too salty. The waitress gave us an extra Chile con Queso the kitchen made which was good but nothing too special. We ordered the Family Platter for 3 which includes half-slab of ribs, brochette-style shrimp, beef & chicken fajitas. It was enough for the 3 of us (2 women and 1 man), but if I were really hungry, I'm not sure if it would have been enough. The ribs were oven cooked and the meat fell off the bone. They were pretty well seasoned. The chicken fajitas were ok. I'm burnt out on chicken unless it's fried. The steak is cooked medium-rare. Great flavor, but a little on the chewy side. The shrimp were wrapped in bacon and were my 2nd favorite after the ribs. Comes with guacamole and pico, but for some reason cheese and sour cream is $2 more. The tortillas were pretty good and you get a side of beans and rice which was decent but nothing too special. Service was pretty good. We had two people helping us and they were both nice and attentive. After ordering, we didn't wait long for the food came out and it was all served hot.

I guess it's fitting that I had lunch here today- it's about every year I make a meal of it, it seems! I am on a quick visit back to my beloved hometown and as I had an appointment off Windy Hill, this was our pick for lunch. Dad got the (ginormous) chicken salad - it even comes with basically two crispy tacos as a garnish, on top of all the lettuce, meat, avocado.... - and while the mahi mahi special (with lobster meat, avocado and rice and beans) sounded tempting, I went old school - tacos al carbon, steak. This place is pricey- possibly worth docking a star- but at $18.95 (yes, really) you get about 12 oz of beef with guac, pico and a lot of rice and beans on the side. Especially after our queso, one taco was all I could do. Luckily, I like this kind of Mex-y treat left over. Good service on a pretty busy day. Our queso at TMac is better (and a few $$ less for the same portion) but overall, a solid spot up that way.

The food is delicious. I definitely recommend their margaritas, salsa, and queso. However, the service leaves a lot to be desired. We had a group of three and sat outside. The atmosphere was great, but our server was not attentive. He didn't check on us at all, and we were constantly having to flag him down. We also would have to remind him of things we ordered. I would still go back, I would just hope for better service next time around.

Had my birthday dinner here last week. Overall, a good experience. A few things: 1. The waiter suggested a margarita that wasn't on the menu and it sounded good, so we told him we would try it. Little did we know it was $55 for a pitcher. Wow... BUT it was strong! And my friends drinks were good and strong, too. I don't think I'll ever get that particular pitcher again due to price, but I was happy with it for sure! Solid drinks. 2. The food was pretty good. I had steak fajitas and they were good, but not amazing. I think I'm biased now because I had the best steak fajitas of my life recently somewhere else. There is definitely enough to share with someone, and for the price, there better be! My friend didn't like her chicken soup. She was expecting it to be like the traditional Mexican chicken soup, but because this place is tex-mex it just wasn't the same. 3. The service was great. I called ahead since we had a large party and we were seated right away. The waiter was attentive and helpful. This place is also huge... and always packed it seems. I'll come back.

Great service!!! BUT as for the food and drinks that's a different story. I ordered the beef brisket tacos, the meat was sooo dry. I told the waiter I wanted a strong top shelf Margarita and it was so weak (I was disappointed) I would never go back if I want some real Mexican and good margaritas...

  • Heather E.

Pros: The food was good and plentiful. It wasn't extremely loud. Pretty good variety of food. Nice server. Cons: Expensive--keep in mind that one entree would probably feed two or three people, so if you share the pricing is fair. Felt like I was in a Tex-Mex/seafood glam version of an Applebee's. We were approached by a manager MID-BITE to answer survey questions about our visit. That led to the 3 star review....I'm just big on cutting out on interruptions during a dinner with someone.

This place is MASSIVE. Like I don't know if I've been to a bigger restaurant in my life. It just keeps going... And it was quite crowded when I went after work on a Thursday night. It's in the same area as another restaurant owned by the same people and both places seemed to be booming. The menu was a bit strange... The fajita plates were large and meant for sharing ($20+) but didn't have a lot of options for a single servings. I ended up getting a salad which was overpriced. They do have a large drink menu although mostly tequila and some Mexican beers. I shy away from the large pitchers of margarita because they are sooo sugary but some of my friends indulged... Probably a better value but you'll pay for it in sugar!

  • Jeff T.

Bottom line, for the money you can do better elsewhere. The food ins't anything to rave about, I've cooked better chicken on an electric grill, the drinks were weak, and service spotty. I've eaten better Mexican inspired food for a third the price. All I hope is that I can save you some sticker shock and disappointment.

I had a friend in college from Texas who RAVED* about Tex Mex (*read: diatribe every time we went to the local strip mall Mexican joint). She loved it so much she had her mom bring us some ON AN AIRPLANE when she came to visit. Right? It was from the Pappasito's in San Antonio. I was impressed (based on previous quality of Mexican food exposure), despite the reheating process. So when I came to Atlanta and saw there was a Pappasito's, I was excited to try it fresh. I enjoy shrimp but usually don't eat it at restaurants, however the variety, preparation, and spices MAKE their shrimp some of the tastiest. The same goes for the steak and chicken. Add that along with literally melt in your mouth butter sauce and I'm a fan! I've always had a take home box because of how much food they give you. Service is highly valued here, and even during crowded dinner time, the wait staff is pleasant and the kitchen is highly efficient. As long as you're willing to drop a bit of money and appreciate the art of Tex-Mex cuisine, you'll likely really like this place.

Quality of the good here was generally pretty good. But man is it expensive! I'll likely not be coming back here unless it's on the company's dime. That said, it has it's place. And by place, this place is huge, and can easily cater to a 200 diners or so. The parking lot is shared with Pappadeux's, which seems equally as big. Overall, the seafood selection is pretty fantastic, and the quality to match. Service is pretty on point, and the only downside is the price.

My favorite fajitas in all of Atlanta! This is due to the charbroiled chicken and the homemade tortilla's which kicks the flavor up several notches! The quality and taste of their food is what keeps me coming back. The lunch rush isn't as bad as other places. It's always fast and friendly service. Seems to have a pretty good drink menu as well :)

Overpriced Mexican food, slow service in the evening when the place is packed. The wait would be okay if the food was anywhere near decent. Unfortunately the Laredo Combo I had was a sad looking mashup of food where every item tasted like a hotpocket dipped in a bag of salt. The portions are quite large but given the quality I am not sure it's a plus. There are many Mexican restaurants alternative in Smyrna, this is probably the worst I had in a long time.

Four stars in this review for this dining experience only. I have had not so great experiences at this restaurant before, and I absolutely recommend not coming during peak hours because the dining room floor is an open cramped floor full of tables that are all around each other so you have to do shimmy to get through which is not so easy if you have a butt. Another thing to note is that the happy hour specials are only in the bar area , And there are only like four seats at the bar so I don't see how this is much of a special. But my husband and I came today because I was craving the shrimp brochette which is always fantastic. The food came out in good time, not long of a wait at all, but we were there at 3:30. I know the food can take much longer later into the evening. Our servers name was Jontaviois and he was very delightful and pleasant. He took care of all of our needs promptly promptly i.e. kept drinks full, kept chips and salsa full, and got us to go boxes and the check in good time. My one consistent complaint is that the salsa is gross. The chips are good and thin, Cantina style. But the salsa is warm, and has a smoky flavor. I realize they're trying to go for something different but it's simply not good.

It takes a lot for me to leave a bad review, but I really felt like this is something that management needs to know. I came in tonight at 6:35, excited for some great Mexican food. I headed straight to the bar as I was by myself and I've found I typically get the quickest service there. I'm quickly greeted and asked what I wanted to drink and if I'd be dining there and I said I was. I ordered a water to start off with as I wanted to look at the drink menu. This is where things quickly went south. I made my choices in about 2 minutes, but for good measure, let's say I had made my decision by 6:40. About 5 minutes later, the bartender saw that I had closed my menu and was waiting to order and she said I'll be right with you. I guess we just greatly varied on what we thought right away meant, as another 10 minutes passed, with her making drinks for the service bar and other individuals right in front of me... After waiting a couple more minutes, I finally decided to stand up and leave, but I thought a manger should know. So I went to the hostess stand and let a hostess know and she was shocked and was off to find a manager. After her searching for 3-4 minutes for a manger, and seeing that she was still looking for a manger, I decided to just go ahead and leave. This type of service is just completely unacceptable. It should never take 15+ minutes just to put in your order. A manager should always be around to address issues with customer service. It's very disappointing to see this location doing so poorly as I grew up on Pappasito's and this location is less than a mile from my office...

Besides the occasional weirdness at the hostess stand, the service and food are fantastic here. I usually order the soft beef tacos, I know that sounds pretty boring but they are amazing! If you can't get the basics of tex-mexyness right then what is the point of even trying? The cheese melts into sort of a cheese sauce and the tortillas taste home-made. The chips and salsa are pretty good, I am usually not a fan of warm salsas but theirs began to grow on me through the course of the meal. I have had a margarita here, very good but I have started getting the sangria. It is great, not too sweet and it features real fruit... not that mushy kind that gets stuck in the straw. All in all, I would definitely come here sooo many more times. It's consistently good!

Went for dinner on a weeknight and from the parking lot you would think they were packed but the restaurant is massive so there were tables available. My biggest issue was the price. The food was ok at best but when you get the bill you would have thought you had a meal at a nice restaurant in the city. I can say that this was my first and last time eating here.

I used to work here in high school. I still get nostalgic when I pull in the parking lot. Today I met my Nana for lunch and thought we'd check out trusty Pappasitos since it had been so long. Exactly as I remember, and my server had been there since me so we had a little chat about fajitas and the good ole days. They have a new menu with ceviche, shrimp and crab cocktails and a plethora of new alcoholic beverages. I wish I had tried one but I'll leave that to a day I'm not eating with my grandmother. I did have my eye on the Salty Chihuahua! I had steak fajitas for lunch and they are always wonderful. No one does fajitas like this place. My server offered me a choice in how they were prepared which was unnecessary but appreciated. The garlic butter on top is just wrong it's so right and the thick lime wedge served with the meal was a perfect touch! My grandmother ordered the shrimp and crab cocktail which come presented in an oversized martini glass, a very beautiful presentation. She ended up with shrimp tempura cocktail on accident but she happens to love tempura and refused to let our sweet server correct her error. She enjoyed it immensely and couldn't finish the generous portion. We ended up boxing just about everything after delicious warm and smokey house made salsa and two strawberry lemonades each. Ok now on to my house favorites that I order often when I come to sitos' *chicken soup--HUGE portion, a little salty, broth-y and chock full of veggies and rice. Yum! *brochette shrimp- delicious jumbo shrimp sliced down the middle, stuffed with cheese and a sliver of fresh jalapeño, then wrapped in bacon and grilled to perfection. Don't ask questions, just order it. They have a combo of fajitas with two of these sweet babies to go alongside. Just say yes. *tres leches- this sweet bread is sure to tantalize and make you wish there was more. I order with a cup of joe which is surprisingly delicious here. The cake is so creamy and moist, served with a healthy dollop of marzipan it's just fabulous.

This place can get pretty pricey for Mexican food but the quality and taste reflects it. You also get free chips and salsa. The service is excellent even when they re busy during lunch. Speaking of lunch... They have a lunch menu that has a lot of variety and is affordable. I enjoyed the Pappasito's famous burrito.

The the food was 4-star, service was 3-star, atmosphere is 3-star and parking is 2-star quality. I recommend that you visit this place when it is not very busy and you'll likely have a 4-star experience. The service was mediocre and not as good as my former visit. We only got 4 tortillas for 2 orders of fajitas, and we had to flag down the wait staff for more. We had to flag them down for more chips and salsa, too. The speed of service overall was good and the waitress was pleasant and knowledgeable. At this price point I expect my waitress to anticipate the needs of the table or at least check in often enough that I don't have to wave to one of the other staff members. Parking is atrocious. On a busy night expect to wait in line to get in or out of the parking lot because the entrance/exit is not managed, parking spaces are a premium, and the lot is shared with Pappadeaux. They clearly need an off-duty police officer directing traffic or a 2nd entrance to the lot. The building is very large and accommodates a LOT of people. As such, on a busy night it is overly noisy and tables are packed closely together. I think the food is very good but 10-20% overpriced. Having said that, however, the place is packed on the weekend with a lengthy wait time, so I have to concede that this is what the market bears. The fajitas are very good but could use a dry rub and charring from the grill to perfect. Still not in the league with fajitas from Laredo, Texas but very good for Atlanta. Great chili con queso and superb cocktails (both selection and taste). The bartender, however, seems to have a fetish with ice cubes because I've never before had a margarita glass that was 100% full of ice. They don't take reservations :( but the hostess team does a great job with their call-ahead service (highly recommended).

One of my go -to's...I rarely have time to go for lunch. June 11 Out car shopping, exhausted and could only think of a nice cold watermelon margarita and tacos. This is by far one of the best restaurants in ATL. Consistent food, great service and awesome value. I will forever be a repeat customer.!!!!! You did it again.

Freshly made flour tortillas make it worth a stop. Bacon wrapped jalapeño grilled shrimp is surprisingly good also. Shared a small fajita with my wife and took home half. We left happy and full.

Best Mexican Food outside of CAli. If you're ever in ATL or Texas, Hands Down, Go Here, it is Well worth it. Be prepared, there's usually a wait, and they are always busy. Best Shrimp i've ever had. If nothing else get the Pappasito's Famous Shrimp Brochette, A skewer of mesquite-grilled shrimp, stuffed with cheese & fresh jalapenos, wrapped in bacon with pico de gallo and drawn seasoned butter. I swear the butter is sooo good, once you run out of food to dip in it, you will just dip your fingers in it. I always get the Fajita Special (all the way) & the Pappasito's Famous Shrimp Brochette. Little pricey, but i don't mind since it feeds me two or three times. The table side guacamole is not bad either, but comes with the fajita combo. of course, All you can eat Free Chips & Salsa.

Went here to attend a friend's birthday. And we had a great time! Pappasito's staff is clearly a hard working bunch. And they seem to have a well-oiled machine comprised of some very talented folks working here. The staff gets five stars. They really took good care of us and it was a very happy birthday for my friend! My major criticisms stem from my observations that Pappasito's may be a victim of its own success. The place is annoyingly crowded. And the price point seems a bit high. This is the kind of restaurant that (to me) is a symptom of rampant urban sprawl--sort-of the "big box shopping" equivalent of restaurants. Glitzy to the point of being gimmicky. This really only bothers me a little bit. It would bother me even less if the food were better than average. (Bear in mind that average is still good, even as it is average.) Maybe I'm just being a snob. But I cannot remember what what I ordered. And that should tell you something. (No, this has nothing to do with dementia.) But seriously, I'm even looking at their online menu right now and I cannot remember what I ate at Pappasito's. (But I remember the bill!) Our drinks were very tasty. But drinks are not my mainstay, no matter what my girlfriend tells you. She's lying. I'll return to Pappasito's if that's where my friends say we're going. Holler if you're coming with.

This is one of my favorite places to eat since moving to Atlanta. It's a chain, but it's also the only Pappasito's outside of Texas so you won't find one in any of the bordering states. They definitely have their business down to a science as they operate a very large establishment with an impressive efficiency. As all things typically TX related, the portions are massive from the appetizers all the way to dessert. To me, the best thing on the menu is the filet fajitas with the shrimp. Freshly made tortillas, tender steak and bacon wrapped/cheesy shimp that you can dip in drawn butter is about as good as it gets. I've tried other items but keep coming back to that. As far as dessert, you have to go with the Tres Leches. You will probably be full so just get it to go.

I got the fajita's they were good as usual but the prices are ridiculous. .. $20 and you only get a few onions and no green peppers. Rice, cheese and sour cream extra! !!

I'll start with the service- it's outstanding. The people next to us ordered steak fajitas and made a huge stink about not getting "a plate full of steak" and even though I felt their complaint was unjust ( and quite frankly I was embarrassed for them) they were given more steak. It shows they care about their customers. It was more expensive than your run of the mill Mexican restaurant but both my husband and I had enough good for 3-4 meals each. My husband didn't like the salsa. While it's not typical, I did like it. It tasted like the veggies were roasted first. I got a taco, enchilada, tamale, beans, and rice. All was good. We would come back.

I am posting this review for both Pappasito's Cantina and Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, both in Marietta, GA. I ate at the bar at both restaurants because on a Friday and Saturday night the restaurants are overflowing with patrons out to have a great meal and a fun time. So I know the locals know these are great places but I am writing this for newbies to Atlanta, like myself, and for those just visiting. I am from NJ and have eaten at the finest restaurants in NJ, NY and PA and many other places in the Caribbean and in France and without a doubt the Pappasito's Cantina's Filet Mignon Fajitas with Crab Cake Stuffed Shrimp and the Pappadeaux's Seafood Kitchen's Seared Alaskan Halibut with a sweet, soy macadamia nut crust with Jumbo Lump Crab and Roasted Brussel Sprouts were two of the best dishes I have ever eaten in my life. Generous portions, perfectly cooked and prepared and with a taste that is out of this world. You might be shocked at the prices on the menu as these are not "cheap eats" but you will leave with a smile knowing you got every dollars worth for this delicious food. I highly recommend both these restaurants (written 8/29/2015).

This was my first visit to a Papasitos. They're all over the place in my home state, Texas so I'm used to authentic Tex-Mex cuisine. From the moment we walked in, the staff this night were incredibly polite and friendly. A smile goes a long way in my opinion and from the hostess to the manager, I've never encountered such a professional and friendly crew. We sat down in the bar area and we're immediately given complimentary chips and salsa. The bartender had come out from behind the bar to get our drink order. She was all smiles and recommended some of their special margaritas (they have a HUGE selection of tequilas apparently). I ordered a platinum Margarita while my friend just had a jack & coke. I mentioned this was my first visit and while we didn't want appetizers, I did mention that the ceviche looked good. Wouldn't you know it, after we got our drinks our bartender showed up with complimentary ceviche. I was impressed. My story could go and on and on but the bottom line is this: I'll definitely come back to this restaurant and would recommend it for anyone in the Smyrna, GA area for dining. Thank you to Davida, our waitress, the kitchen manager, our bartender (whom I wish I remembered your name) and the manager, Fred. Yall are fantastic crew and from a military man who receives thank yous alot, I, in turn, say thank you very much.

This was my second time at Pappasito's. I like this place overall. The drinks are good and strong and the chips and salsa are nice and fresh. The service had always been fine. The first time I went I had the taco trio; one brisket, one shrimp and one chicken. It was fantastic. They really are proud of that brisket and it shows. It's good. The beans and rice are always an afterthought with me no matter where I am. They were good. Most recently I had the enchilada platter with the same three meats and I liked it a lot better. The corn tortillas and various sauces for each meat really made the difference. Each enchilada was nothing like the former and all were very, very good. My buddy had the Camarones Diablo (spicy shrimp) and I snuck a few bites of his and I will be getting that next time. Seriously delicious shrimp that are HOT! If you don't dig spicy, you may want to steer clear of this dish. Overall this is a great Tex-Mex place and I highly recommend it.

Always wanted to check out this place for the longest!!! As we always go to pappadaux and love it every time... we finally made it to pappasitos. Now I must say disappointing the place had an unpleasant smell when you first walk in! They take too long to serve you and the food is extremely bland to the point where I had to keep adding their pineapple jalapeño hot sauce to give me a some flavor. Thanks but no thanks.....Won't be coming back here again!! Peace. ..

Loved Pappasitos on trips to Texas, always wanted to try the one here - food not as good as I remembered - Average Uncle Julio's/On the Border Mexican....what shocked me was the prices....chain Mexican place - Guacamole $13, Nachos, $15 - Steak Fajitas - $25 - "Lunch" Burrito was $13...again food was decent chain Mexcian - but WAY overpriced.

I had the glazed salmon and crab cakes. Both were exceptional. The salmon was perfectly pink in the middle with a crunchy outer coating from the glaze. The crab cake was fresh, with diced onion and fresh herbs, and served with a topping of fresh guacamole. A bit spicier than I expected but it made it even better. Server was very attentive and knowledgeable. I definitely will come back on my next trip!

This is my go to spot for some real authentic style Mexican. You pay for what you get. If you want a $5 meal from a texmex spot then you will end up with a $5 meal. If you are wanting some great food with an awesome atmosphere then this is your spot. It can get a little pricey for some but it is well worth it. The portions are large and full of flavor. I am a repeat customer and highly recommend this place to my friends. Note: it's best if you make a reservation in advance, there generally is a decent wait time. My only CON about this place is the location. There has been some riffraff in the area so don't leave valuables in your vehicle, if you must then keep them out of view.

  • Lena R.

We love this place; my husband would eat there one meal a day if he could. Their specials can be a little pricey, but always delicious and I have leftovers for next-day lunch. Their house-made tortillas are fresh and tasty. The latest specials we have last time we went have lime and cilantro rice and it is VERY good, I loved it. Service was always good, every time we went. This is the place I will go back to again and again. It is hard to find too many restaurants I can say the same about.

  • Keaton L.

This is a great place to go if you feel like paying $24 for really average Mexican food. The host staff greets you with the warmth and familiarity of a traffic cop. The managers respond to complaints with terse, monosyllabic grunts. The wait staff move with all the speed and urgency of somebody nursing a really bad hangover. Don't eat here.

  • Preeti M.

I can't seem to figure out how this place is ALWAYS jammin likes some sort of a nightclub! Oh wait, its the food and amazing service. I often get intimidated going here during lunch time due to the crowds since I never know if I will get back to work in time but for the most part they are efficient. Tilapia rocks here! Parking is super tough here...hence the 4 stars. Between them and Pappadeaux, it is impossible to get a spot especially during lunch and happy hour times! No bueno!!

  • Autumn S.

I was lucky enough to discover Pappacitos when I lived in Texas and an even luckier ATL has one for me to satisfy my Tex-Mex craving. This is one of the few chain restaurants I really like-why you may ask? Because everything is made fresh and the service is always great. Drinks are made with fresh juices and all the dishes include huge, tasty servings! I especially love asking for extra tortillas (they make them at the restaurant) to take home with me and munch on later. There can be a ridiculous wait during peak hours but I try to avoid that by going early or late for dinner on the weekends

  • Christian B.

The pretty food is good as is the service. My complaint is the size of the portions. They are freakishly huge! It is too much food and Mexican food just doesn't do well as leftovers. Be prepared to split a meal. The prices are good for the amount of food but I end up wasting half which means half of what I paid is wasted. I will be back because I have friends that like it when we go out as a group but I wish they would reduce the portions...and the prices accordingly.

    (3)
  • Jordan P.

Some of the better Mexican I've had in Atlanta (makes sense since its a Texas chain), but it's still overpriced. The huge portions on the combos make up for it though

Excellent food! Great flavors! My husband and I decided to stop here after the fair a couple of weeks ago. A friend of mine from TN has posted on FB that it was so good that she and her family drove down recently from the Knoxville area just to eat lunch there and then drive home. So, I was quite excited to try this place. We arrived fairly late on a Friday evening, but the place was still fairly busy and there were two other parties waiting to be seated when we got there. Once seated, a sweet lady (who I don't think spoke much, if any English) brought us chips and two kinds of salsa. The chips were light and airy, seemed freshly made, and very good. The salsas tastes homemade and the traditional one had a him of smokiness to it that was unique and I really liked. The other was a salsa verde of some sort and it was also very good. We ordered Combination Platters (Guadalajara & Laredo) because we wanted to try a few items. The amount of food we received was outrageous...as in a HUGE amount of food. So much that we both ended up taking what equaled an entire meal (each) home with us in to go boxes. The chicken tinga items were absolutely wonderful and we both LOVED the pork tamales. I would have given Pappasito's 5 stars, as the service and food were great, but it was pretty pricey for Tex-Mex food, even for really good Tex-Mex. If we are back in the area, we will likely stop there again and I may even want to go there for my birthday in December.

this is the best mexican resturant in the country,,,,,everything made from sctratch there,,,,, they use the best and most expensive meat,,, that s why it is little more than the others,,,, sitting on the bar for lunch used to be more fun and more ,,,they keep changing people there ,,while before there were few the same for long time

Great service and no wait on a busy Saturday evening (restaurant was very full). Salmon was great! Chicken quesadilla was bland. Salsa was very smoking tasting and my daughter and I weren't too fond of it. Queso blanco however, was great. Some of the dishes seemed a little overpriced.

I love this place. I wish we lived closer. It is 2 hours away from us. It is pricey but the portions are huge enough for leftovers, So think 2-3 meals in one. The staff is very friendly and attentive. 5 stars for them! The chips they give you to munch on is light and crispy. The salsa is very flavorful. The fresh tortillas are so delicious (they make it right there). They will bring you endless chips, salsa and tortillas. And if you ask to take chips, salsa and tortillas home, they will give you extra. I've tried the cheese dip, fajitas, tacos, fish tacos, tamales, enchiladas and it's all very good! 5 stars for the food! It can get pretty noisy in there when it's crowded (pricey and noisy are the only reason to take off 1 star). Otherwise, I will always go there whenever I'm out that way. It definitely is a treat!

  • Nancy L.

The food was amazing! Since their menu doesn't cater to vegetarians I had to get the kitchen to make me a vegetarian quesadilla with spinach, mushrooms and onions with a side of vegan beans and rice. The kitchen did a great job! Lots of flavor and good quality ingredients! We also ordered the shrimp & scallop -k- bobs which arrived cooked to perfection on a bed of dirty rice and refried black beans! The one thing to note is when ordering a Rum 'n Coke from the bar, be sure to specify top brand Rum. The house rum is worse than the worst Rum out there! Terrible with a capital T! Yuck! So stick to the food and you will be pleasantly surprised!

I like this place!!! My only two problems is I hate their salsa and there is a FUNKY smell when you walk in. OTHER than that I like it!! They have some damn good cheese dip. It is upscale Mexican but the food is really good. I love their shrimp. They don't give you the little dinky kind most Mexican restaurants give they give nice JUMP shrimp! My husband and I get the Filet Mignon Fajitas with Crab Cake Stuffed Shrimp and we split it! Love their Sangria too!! Good place for Mexican!

I grew up in Houston and just started coming back to Pappasitos. It is very pricey and when I am at home we get the fajitas on Tuesday when they are half off. The menu is pricey but the food is good. THe fajitas are what they are knwn for but all the other menu items are good. They have added some items I dont remember like crab cake stuffed shrimp, crab claws, and stuffed tilapia. The drinks are good and sometimes we go and just have drinks with chips and salsa. The appetizer sampler is good too (meat and cheese). Good somewhat pricey spot to watch games.

The waiter cheerfully let us know that this is the only Pappasitos outside of Texas. I don't know if that's a good thing or not. He also let us know the lunch special was something called Delmar Shrimp with Chicken Fajitas. I had that and it was good but it's a bit spendy for lunch. Three large shrimps wrapped in bacon with a half order of chicken fajita and four tortilla shells with the usual fajitas fixings. It was good, but a lot. Chips and salsa were good - the chips were thin and warm, the salsa was flavorful but not too spicy. And interestingly, the "red" salsa is served warm. Different. I'd go back for dinner, but probably not for lunch.

It was about a 25 minute wait when we arrived on a Sunday evening with two adults and one child. However the wait was actually quite shorter than that and I was quite surprised because the establishment was packed. Our waitress was very prompt and knowageable. Food and drinks arrived quickly. Our meals were delicious, with over the top amounts. I ordered the shredded pork salad, a small size mind you, and I still ended up with over half of my meal remaining. Our waitress did confuse our checks at the end though, as my patron and I had split bills. But she corrected it quickly, so not a problem. Highly recommend. Great place to be!

Pappasitos is an INCREDIBLE experience. Their tortillas are absolutely to die for, as everything here is made entirely from scratch. The fajitas are really tasty! Especially the steak ones but the chicken is also very juicy, especially for chicken. I have to say that the staff is very friendly, all the times I have gone I only encountered one staffer who seemed to have a little attitued but I have been so many times and keep coming back! Come on Wednesday, if you can get a table it's half off fajita night and TOTALLY worth it!

Please, Lord, please make shrimp brochettes the new air. Holy frijoles is this place good. I'm a SoCal native, so I grew up on Mexican food. Pappasito's is not Mexican. It's certainly closer to Tex than Mex, but you'll find no complaint from this dude. I have only come to Pappa's for lunch because I have a bum wallet from my all my years spent teaching. I don't know if they do anything different. I don't care about ambiance, and I would still eat at Pappasito's if the food was being served to me by stampeding wildebeests. I would eat it in places Sam-I-Am would never dare utter. I have only ever ordered one thing here. My visits to Pappa's are too rare and precious to waste "trying new things" or "broadening my horizons." This is what I order: Steak fajitas with three shrimp brochettes and white queso for appetizer. Or as they call it on Olympus, ambrosia. I have ordered this five times over the past two years, and five times I have left the cave and experienced real food. This is my favorite spot in Georgia and one of my favorite spots in all the land. You've had fajitas, but you ain't had Pappa's. The steak melts in your mouth. It melts, people! That means it's good. They serve it with some kind of butter sauce that is made from the happy tears of angels. O sweet, sunny angels, thank you! As stated above, I would like for Pappa's shrimp brochettes to become the new air. I don't mean that I want to choke and die on marinated butterfly shrimp stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon. I want for human bodies to be outfitted with a new respiratory system that would enable us to breathe and eat at the same time. Then I want the air to be Pappa's shrimp brochettes. See, I ain't crazy. The queso, by the way, is way good. They toss you some freshly made tortillas and you can use it to spoon cheese if you want to. But you don't have to. You can also choose to completely ignore them, but I wouldn't as they are way good. I use them to spoon cheese. The salsa wasn't great, though. But it is strangely warm.

**queue Micheal Buble' - It Had Better Be Tonight** Twas my first time. Hesitation building as I approached this feisty breath of the foreign and domestic loveliness. So inviting was the atmosphere that for a time my memory faltered. The ambiance was such that while new, it felt oddly comfortable. As I took in the full beauty of the choices before me; there was a feeling of regret in knowing that I may possibly pick incorrectly. To enjoy one, while not knowing the joy of another. So enticed was I by the Japanese inspired oceanic belle (tempura shrimp cocktail) that I could not leave without finding out where destiny might lead. Such a salty, succulent treat with such a creamy complexion - I was not disappointed. In spite of my previous venture, I was still ravenous. Then I saw her. This island beauty with a hint of southern charm (seafood enchilada). Smooth, soft, and subtle. Mmmmmmmm. Before I knew it I had fallen in what some would of thought was love, but I knew was infatuation. Her appetite for satisfying was impressive (large portion). Even i felt defeated in the face of such overwhelming passion. In the end I had to walk away with a thought of the evening ever present in my mind. Stay feisty Ms. Pappasito!

NO!!!! One work says it all. NO!!!! Over priced, not worth at any price!. Salmon salad came with dressing that was old and expired Smelled bad. Asked waiter for new salad and different dressing. - Waited for 10 minutes and finally a waitress came with new dressing. This was not the waiter that took the order nor that was told about issue. I explained that we needed a new salad as the bad dressing was put on the salad and was bad. The waitress apologized and would get a new salad. - Another 10 minutes and a salad finally came and waiter apologize for issue. - I asked why did it take 20 minutes to make a salad. - Waiter explained that they are very busy. - Shouldn't people who got bad expired food get there's replaced first before others get there's. I am not asking for special treatment or be served ahead of others. But when you get bad food or what you didn't order the restaurant should make extra effort to take care of you as you have been waiting and already not happy. NEVER GO HERE.... DO NOT RECOMMEND

Came by for lunch after the shooting range for my 21st birthday, and it was a pleasurable experience. The crabcake appetizer was delicious. The chips and salsa was standard, however, they do not have traditional salsa, so that might take some getting use to or be a complete miss for some of you. Drinks were good. Ordered the Sangria, The Wave, and another drink I couldn't remember. They also gave me free dessert :] The service was top notch and the server was very friendly and constantly around to check up on us. He even came with boxes. :]

A friend from work, her son and I were headed to Chastain and the Santana concert. We were going to stop and have dinner and she started listing off places on the way. I'd been craving Mexican so when she mentioned this place, I jumped right on it. When we pulled into the parking lot at 4:30, I was fully expecting a wait. We found the only open spot and walked in. Surprisingly, the place was only half full and we were seated immediately. As others have mentioned, it is a bit pricy. But the portions are huge, and unless you have hollow legs, there are enough leftovers for another meal. I had the Beso Del Sol for my drink. It was delicious. Nice and tart with an underlying sweetness. We split an order of Queso Blanco. This was not out of this world amazing, but it was good. I had the chicken fajitas. It was a little disappointing that they only served it with onions. I've had them at Huey Lueys with peppers, onions, and tomatoes. But the tortillas? More than made up for it. They were soft, fluffy and super delicious. Plus I was only able to eat half, so the other half came home for lunch tomorrow. My friend had sopapillas for dessert. They were super delicious. I'll definitely go back. and the concert was amazing. If you get a chance to see him in concert, do it.

First of all I feel that giving this place on star at all is way to much , we were not greeted upon arrival and asked to sit outside , were put directly next to the glass kitchen door , where servers proceeded to hang out and rush past with no disregard . Our waitress who was almost annoyed with our presence , who didn't know anything about the menu . ordered a $14.00 margarita expecting to be blown away but received nothing but disappointment . Maybe an 8 oz glass with no salt on the rim and no ice . I would recommend to anyone pulling in to this parking lot to turn around and head down 285 to Buford highway where the prices are halved and the service is much better

This place has the best fajitas ever. I dont even look at the menu any more. The steak is cooked perfect, the veggies are awesome, the tortillas are top notch and the butter sauce is highly addictive. Courteous staff also.

Really cool atmosphere and homemade tortillas ! Salsa is mild but good and chops are served hot but are really too thin to dip in guacamole or cheese dip. But they will offer to sell you some thicker dipping chips! How nice! The food is Tex Mex style so it's not spicy but flavorful. Has a Great outdoor patio area. Don't expect a cheap Mexican tab here, it's pretty steep, lunch will be at least $15+ and the menu has meals close to $30 per person. Add a drink and you are well over $30 for lunch. While I like the food, Atmosphere and the Service; I would not want to go here often for the price. There are places that are more upper crust/class white tablecloth for the same price. The restaurant and restrooms seemed really clean but whatever they clean with is a little strong. Our Service and Staff were very friendly but if you are on a lunch break; skip the table presentation guacamole it's good but takes a while and it ain't cheap! $8

You really can't go wrong here. Always the best service. I love the fajitas, ribs, and tamales the best. They actually have the best nachos in history. Individually topped. Incredible.

Really enjoyed dinner here. Loud and crowded like it's seafood partner across the parking lot. Hit Pappasito's during the Hatch green chile special. Great food, good service.

Disappointed. half a dozen times a year I go here for the cheese enchiladas. This time they had jacked up the price 40%. And they have gotten stingy with the tasty chili which is the only thing distinguishing their cheese enchiladas from those half their price.

3.75 stars. This is a happening place! Parking is plentiful at this Windy Hill area Tex Mex, but you may have a long trek to the front door since the lot is shared with an equally uber-popular eatery. Then check in and expect to wait for your table, it's so busy during peak hours The good news is Pappas turns tables pretty quickly, and it's worth the wait. Friendly, helpful staffers. Casual, fun decor with lots of sports on the bar area TVs. The food is generally pretty good, too. No bien: Chips and salsa are uninspired. Warm, but meh chips. Salsa is watery and drips all over when scoop-to-mouth. i like chunkier salsa that stays put, but maybe that's just me. Muy bien: Fajitas are expensive, but they are very, very good - the best I can remember - and worth it. They come with a tasty, fresh pico and gauc. The tortillas are fresh and warm. Highly recommended. Eat well, my friends. ; )

Oh. my. Fajitas! The only place I order fajitas (no other place ever stacks up). My husband and I share a large, half chicken-half steak with the works. The chicken is so moist and flavorful. Tortillas are made fresh on a machine in the dining room. The restaurant is a little loud and crowded, but considering how good it is, it is no surprise.

Overall wonderful experience, and the seafood enchiladas were excellent. Our server was extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful when they ran out of our drinks of choice. A party of six was seated quickly with no prior warning. I will certainly be returning next time I come to town

I've been to several of the Pappasito's restaurants in Texas. This one looked and felt the same, but it didn't quite taste the same. Don't get me wrong, the food wasn't bad, it just didn't quite have that authentic Tex-Mex flavor that I grew up on. Also, it's just a bit on the pricey side.

We decided to give this restaurant a try on a whim. Boy, are we glad we did! We sat at the bar, had AMAZING margaritas, by the awesome bartender DJ. We were so impressed with all the staff we encountered. Everyone there seemed to really love their jobs, which if you visit a lot of restaurants, you know is very unusual. DJ customized our dinner for us and I have to say the food was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend visiting here if you get a chance!!

I kept wanting to see if my voice would echo in the dining room. Yeah. It's huge. Let me reiterate: HUGE. I was shocked at just how much real estate Pappasito's has. I mean....it's like a few square acres. Anyways, yes, it's a large restaurant. Onward. Came in for lunch with a buddy and boy, oh boy, do they know how to take care of you. Maybe even a little too well.... They know how to spoil you! Seated, orders in, and minutes later our food started coming. Placed all over our meagerly sized table, it was an incredible bounty. The queso: Ehhh...Not my favorite. Texture was a little grittier than I'd like and flavor was a bit generic, but the saving grace was the tortillas served alongside. Holy cow....chewy, warm, and so filling it hurts. YUM. It was a nice change from the normal chips. Big fan. Chicken fajitas: They give you everything but the kitchen sink -- chicken, grilled jalapeno, and a crazy garlic-y, buttery sauce on the skillet, then all of the other fixins on a plate, more of those warm and chewy tortillas. Oh, and I failed to mention there were already chips and three cups of salsa on our table. I was tempted to call a few friends to join in the feast. The flavors? Darn good. I loaded up a tortilla and it ended up being more like a burrito-sized portion. The chicken was spiced well, but maybe a little over-salted. However, the garlic/butter/awesome sauce that came with is a nice touch. Would I order it again? Yes, but in the presence of a family of 6 to split. Again, the service is just astoundingly professional. Our server did everything and went over the top to take care of us. He even brought out to-go boxes, bagged our food, and gave us personal business cards. Where Pappasito's is great, I'm not sure it's my speed. It's big and super fast. I definitely dig their approach, but will stick to a more intimate setting. Glad I had the chance to try it, though!

I really like the food quality at this place. We always get the fajitas with Steak, Chicken and Shrimp. One entree has enough food for the two of us. Plus the children's menu choice are really good. They have recently started offering half sized desert's for half price which is a really good deal. Got the Tres Leches cake which is really good. My only criticism is that the last time we went the food service was really really slow. Both entrees and even desert which I assume is premade took 20 minutes to bring out. The waitress seemed on top of things and was constantly checking on us and bringing drinks, but the food was just slow (maybe they were short staffed).

My favorite restaurant in Atlanta! Worth the drive to just outside the parameter. Great staff, and amazing food! I always go for the Fajitas, they are to die for with the fresh tortillas! Always make sure to ask them for the green salsa too, its amazing too!

Here's my theory: independent restaurants are inevitably superior to chain restaurants. EXCEPT Tex-Mex restaurants, at least in Georgia. Rationale: standard tex-mex restaurants are easily set up and cater to a clientele that has some horribly conceived idea of what "Mexican" cuisine is and therefore have an incentive to serve subpar food. On the other hand, most Tex-Mex chains I know originated in the Lone Star State and therefore have to follow the established protocol. And as the mantra of corporate restaurants is "Consistency + multiplicity = financial solvency", what you get in Atlanta probably won't vary much from what you get in Austin. And since Atlanta's Tex-Mex typically doesn't vary much from what you get in McDonough, this will make a chain shine. There are rare exceptions in this town (Bone Garden specifically) but on the whole I'm feeling pretty strongly about this. So I went to Pappasito's to test this theory out at a new place (yes, the review starts here). We chose Saturday just after 11am, since that's a rare time when we can get in without a wait. Gigantic parking lots followed by gigantic smiles, indeed we are in the world of chains, but it yam what it yam. Not a whole lot for pescatarians to choose from, but I go for my gold standard, cheese enchiladas & my wife picked a ceviche. Our waitress, upon hearing that I didn't want chile con carne, outed herself as a vegetarian and subbed everything out that would clash (including both beans & rice, as well as the standard red chile that would adorn the enchilada instead if con carne). This was AWESOME and totally appreciated (thanks Kelly!). Everything was solid - enchiladas were as I hoped, nicely rolled and with orange cheddar (my new warning sign is white cheese) and a sauce that was present to enhance the taste without overpowering. My wife's ceviche was served in a martini glass and had a very fresh assortment of seafood with liberal lemon juice. And I am a radical liberal when it comes to lemon juice. Chips and salsa were good too - a garlicky verde and a warm roasted tomato. I am not a chain guy by nature, and it took a lot to begin to entertain this theory. But thankfully, experiences like this one make me look forward to future research.

Happy I wasn't in awe of the place just because of the name association like everyone else seemed to be. I tend to avoid chains like this because there are so many good authentic places to go to where you can get a better meal with much better tacos. The same can be said of this place. The atmosphere was nice, our waitress was great, and the food was decent enough however there was nothing special about it either. And they didn't even bring limes to go with our food which is just sad in itself.

Every time, hands-down the best Tex-Mex anywhere. The Steak & Chicken Fajitas with the wine/butter sauce is to die for. Handmade tortillas. Best chips & salsa. Everything is a notch above!

I am in Atlanta this week on business and was fortunate to have stumbled upon this place. First I ordered a skinny spicy margarita (with muddled jalapeno) and it came out perfect- just the right amount of kick to it. The mahi mahi with lobster was magnificent. Great place to get your mind off work and to thaw out from the frosty cold outside! I would def come back.

A little too expensive for Tex-Mex. If they were doing some kind of fancy shmancy preparations then I could see charging more than $20 bucks for a single plate......but they aren't, so they shouldn't. I don't mind paying lots of money for an amazing dinner, but this place just doesn't justify their price. I will admit, I'm not a big Tex-Mex fan. There is always too much cheezy sauce and other shit going on all over the plate. However, I had to try this place because I drive by it all the time and the fancy orbit looking thing on their roof intrigued me. I started with a sipping Tequila...I can't remember what kind, but it was darn good. The chips and salsa were ok...the salsa was nice and spicy, but it was hot, as in temperature. Thats weird. My wife got the fish tacos and they were good. I got a combo plate with something, something, and a tamale. The tamale was not good at all. The masa was way too mushy and it was not very flavorful. Put it this way, the combo plate had three or four items, all with different meat, and they all tasted the same....like cheezy sauce. I guess thats how it goes with Tex Mex. Oh. and the balloons kinda freaked my wife out...she felt like she was in a circus, or at a childs birthday party.

Came here in hopes of having a nice dinner with the lady as the place is down the street from where I work. Things did not start off well as we were seated and proceeded to wait and wait and wait to get any service. After waiting for 20 min I went up to a server who was just seating by kitchen entrance and asked him if he could serve us because we have been waiting so long and looking at servers who were just sitting around as the place was not packed at all. He explained that the person who is to serve us is also working tables on the complete opposite end of the restaurant which made no sense to me. He offered to go ahead and take our orders once he brought out the food for his other table. This server couldn't be nicer as I saw him have a quick conversation with the lady who was to serve us as they look over to my table when they were talking. The food: We had been there for 40 min before we got our appetizers which was their queso. We ordered a large plate of chicken fajitas and two lobster tails which was very hot when it came out, as it should be. The lobster tails were covered in a buttery garlic sauce which is great if you dont mind having a garlic after taste left in your mouth. All in all if took us an hour and a half to be served our main course, yet with what we ordered the cook time for chicken and lobster tails should only be 15 min max. There is nothing I dislike more than terrible slow service on a slow night and that's what we got. We ordered the large platter because it was only 5-10 bucks more than the other stuff on the menu. This is place, in my mind, can be chalked up to a glorified tex-mex place where they seam to jack up the prices of food you can get for much cheaper elsewhere. Do to the terrible service I will never go back. So please be careful of slow meaningless service. The food is okay yet not justifiable with the prices they charge for the quality and service.

J absolutely detests chain place and won't go to any, except papasitos. We always get the beef fajitas. the drinks are a little weak. you almost have to ask for a double. this place is a little expensive for a chain place.

I am really picky when it comes to Mexican being that I am from San Diego. Me and my cousin were craving Mexican food and I was like Atlanta Mexican food...I dont know. Boy was I wrong about this place. The moment i step foot in this place i was greeted with much love and excellent service. Everyone was super friendly which was awesome. At first i was shock at the sticker price of the nachos but when i got it...i was like holy crap thats alot of food. It was soooo good and worth every cent. We also got some tacos which was really good too. Plus they hooked us up on some sweet tea which was nice of them. Also check out the To Go Menu which is pretty smooth and funny but totally loved it. Wonderful experience

I am not connected to this restaurant in any form or fashion other than I am a Texan and Pappasito's has roots in Texas also. When we first moved to Atlanta we wanted to try "nouveau' Mexican food. Wow, was that ever a mistake. We went back to our roots and realized that Pappasito's in Atlanta is the most consistent with service and taste in food. You will not ever go wrong when you choose this great place to eat.

Outstanding food and service. The chips are thin and the red salsa is fresh and warm. They have a homemade chilled green dip that my wife loved. We are already searching for their next location where we can enjoy this much pleasure all over again.

Pappasitos is definitely one of my favorite places to eat, but only because the fajitas are always good. I have been more than disappointed by the poor service. It is always busy which makes it pretty loud, and many times the sections are too much for the inexperienced staff to handle. It seems as though the servers are sometimes just thrown to the wolves to see what they can handle. I have had decent service at the bar, so if you don't mind sitting at the counter, you might be better served here. You can order the full menu there as well. The chicken fajitas are what brings me back. In fact, any of there grilled items are delicious, the tortillas are always fresh and the chips and salsa are tasty as well. The roasted tomato salsa is served warm, so be prepared for that, it takes some getting used too. The rest of there menu is your typical American Tex Mex, with the combinations of tacos and enchiladas. These seem a little pricey for what you get. My suggestion is to go at an off time for your meal when it may not be as busy and sit at the bar.

Pappasito's is easily the best Tex Mex restaurant within a 20 mile radius of the big chicken. And trust me, I know, because I've been to all of them, and more. In fact, I think the beak is pointing toward Pappasito's. The only negatives are the crowds of people and the cold temperatures--small sacrifices for such great cuisine. Buen Provecho!

Me and my wife come here almost weekly. The food is phenomenal as are the chips and salsas (smoky, sweet, salty salsa with hot freshly made, paperthin chips with a great flavor). The best thing on the menu is probably the fajitas with the steak, colossal shrimp, and chicken. If you're not fat or habitually overeat, you can probably split it with your eating partner and it's a healthy portion for a normal-sized person. The "Pappasitos grill" is another great choice. Those are the only things we've had here. I'm sure the rest of the menu is great. Check out the tres leches dessert. It's incredible. Best mexican food I've ever had, and I come from Northern Latin America (California).

I went there for a business lunch, neither of us had eaten at pappasito's in a long time. With out looking at the menu we asked the waitress if they had chicken nachos. She said yes and we both ordered that. Later we got the bill for $38. The chicken nachos were $16 each and the sweat tea was $2.50. I understand some place are a little more expensive to eat but this was no where near the quality of food i aspect for $20 per head. This place is way over priced and when i complained the waitress laughed it off saying she doesn't make the prices. Nor did she bring a manager to the table. Nor did one ever stop by in the hour we were there. I called back to speak to a manager and both were to busy to take my call with 10 customers in the building when we left. I should have stayed and talked to one face to face but i had to go due to work. I will not be back!

Blah. Not as good as the corner mexican restaurant and twice as expensive. Tap beer had 1.5" of foam for 6.95. Shrimp brochette was not good, tough and chewy. Service pretty slow. This used to be a favorite place but not anymore.

Overpriced can food!!! (Exactly like it tasted) The only thing I could probably recommend might be the fajitas, and tortillas. Our server was ok. The rest was not good. You might enjoy going to another tex mex or mexican restaurant in the area, better and cheaper!

I usually go to the bar. I was there tonight. Generally the bar service is outstanding. Tonight it was so so. One bartender was working hard and the other bartender was more interested on hanging out with his buddies at the bar than taking care of the people at the bar. Not sure about other people, but I felt my service lacked as a result. Food is always fresh and excellent. Beers are a little overpriced. Paid $5.95 plus tax for a Dos Equis Lager. Parking is tough here on busy nights. Overall this place is excellent. It's not an economical meal, but the food is great, and there is generally a really good focus on service.

This is a bizarre review to write. The food, the service, were actually superb just like the first time we ate here - 4.5 stars worthy. After placing our order for the large beef fajitas with a waiter on his 2nd day of work, no more than a minute passed before the servers brought out our food. We were seriously impressed. So, my issue is with whatever corporate entity owns Pappasito's and sets the prices. We came on a Wednesday night (1/2 price fajitas). Our waiter tells us that that's the special for the day, and we're like, "that's what we're here for." He then gives us the stipulation that the deal is only for the LARGE portion of fajitas, not the medium, not the family size. That throws me off for a second, but we end up getting it anyway. TLDR; Long story short, their 50% off deal is only 50% off of a specific portion of fajitas where the prices are marked up. This is an issue of integrity and transparency. I really don't like false advertising.

After we finished kayaking on the Chattahoochee, we wanted a place to eat nearby. Mexican sounded good so ended up coming here. Overall, a good restaurant. Nice staff, good food, you get what you pay for. It's not cheap, but there's plenty of it and it's really good. Be ready to have a burning mouth. Don't just order a pitcher of margaritas for a group like you might at other restaurants; that was surprisingly expensive, and just good not great. Overall, fun environment. We sat on the patio and felt like we were on vacation. Mariachi and very crowded inside. Good spot. I would go back.

This is the best Tex-Mex food in Georgia! They are based out of Texas so they know the food best! They are the real deal...finally a place that makes real fresh tortillas...not the kind bought from the store! Their fajitas are awesome! Steak fajitas are my favorite. My hubby loves the chicken fajitas but you have to make sure to tell them no skin. I would recommend that you add the Shrimp to the order of fajitas. They are wrapped in bacon and loaded with cheese and a sliver of green pepper to give it a little kick(they are not spicy). They are absolutely delicious. I would recommend this place and will be back for sure!

This place is totally AMAZING!! DELICIOUS,FRESH FOOD!!!The portions are really huge. And that's an awesome thing, unless you are traveling through town like we were. Could not bring all the leftovers home with us, so we wasted a lot of food. I would highly recommend sharing with someone. Quite pricey, plan on at least $25 per entree. But if you share, it's a deal!! Like I said, extremely large portions and everything is super fresh and over the top delicious!!! If you go through Marietta GA this is an absolute must!!

For a Sunday night, this place was pretty empty. Normally on the weekend, they, along with Pappadeaux, across the lot, are slammed. It took everything in me not to go to Pappadeaux and order a bowl of shrimp & grits, along with that alligator- mmm. I refrained! We were seated immediately and given the standard tortilla chips and salsa and guacamole dip. The salsa was spi-cay! The guacamole dip was not that great. There were plenty of tortilla chips in the bowl. I ordered chicken fajitas and a margarita. The chicken fajitas were oh, so good. Plenty of toppings, including beans, lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, salsa, etc. The chicken was very good- juicy and seasoned well. It was a LOT of food. I was unable to finish the meal. The margarita was good, too. Kinda strong, believe it or not. Service was great, and I'd certainly come back. 4 stars. Still doesn't beat my Pappadeaux, though!

I went here to have dinner for my LSs birthday. It was my first time and I was not impressed. It seemed as if this restaurant spent more time decorating their plates than the actual quality of their product. However, the mango margarita was great!

I was told to check this place out from a work mate. First reaction was way to busy and loud and it remained much too loud throughout the meal. I had filet fajitas with crab stuffed shrimp. Sounded awesome. The filet Fajitas I ordered med rare came well done. The crab stuffed shrimp tasted like they had sat under a warmer for hours. My chips and queso were tasty or they might have only got one star. If you want Mexican stick to the small family owned places. You will spend much less and get much better food.

This place is pretty good when it comes to portions. Anyone that follows or reads my reviews knows that I am down with TeamPortions. What I like about Pappasito's first is very easy to get to off two major interstates. Sometimes you don't want to do a ton of driving just to get to a restaurant. It's like bam! and then bam! and you're there. They have plenty of items on their menu to choose from. I won't go into the details of everything I have had from there over the years. However, I do like the spinach dip, very slammin' . Huge fan of their chicken & spinach quesadillas. You get a lot, expect to bring a doggy bag home. What also is a sleeper is the grilled chicken salads. I mean who really goes to Mexican and wants to waste their time on a salad. Well, sometimes you wanna be greedy without being guilty - pick up on that! This place can get packed though and the wait can be a little bit but not bad as Pappadeaux's that is in the same parking lot. The prices can be a little pricey depending on what you get. Service is spotty, hit or miss...smh Grade: B-

The BEST freakin' tex-mex food I've ever had, and I haven't had good tex-mex in a long time. This place is owned by the Pappadeaux's people, which is just as amazing. The place was packed the night before, when we were at pappadeaux's, and that was a Monday night. They bring chips and salsa, with the chips thin and crunchy and the salsa was smokey and delicious. We ordered cheese dip, first. When the waiter brought it, he asked if we wanted tortillas. I have never been asked this at any Mexican restaurant, so I awkwardly said yes. He brought them, and I noticed they were warm and fluffy. Little did I know this would change my life forever. The tortillas were unbelievable...and they're unlimited!!! They have a tortilla machine that makes fresh, warm, fluffy, delicious tortillas. I will be visiting Atlanta more often because of this place and it's tortillas. For lunch, I had a small steak fajita entree, which was on point. My wife and daughters shared a shrimp, chicken and steak fajita plate. They loved it and I also tried the jalapeño, bacon shrimp and it was delicious. We had the tres leches cake for dessert, and it was delish. For dessert, I was told people get the tortillas and ask for honey, and they love it. I can't wait to go back. I'm actually sad I can't just go for lunch today :(

Let's start with the positives: bright, engaging and colorful interior - very welcoming. Staff was very friendly and service was good. Unfortunately that was where the positives ended. The restaurant had a really weird SMELL.... kind of chemical-y? Hard to describe, but definitely not appetizing. My combo plate (steak taco, cheese enchilada, rice and beans) was very average. The only decent thing was the cheese enchilada, everything else was mediocre. My friend got the chicken fajitas and said they were very average as well. And (very bizarrely) they served the fajitas with a ramekin of white wine garlic butter...? (Nothing quite says authentic Mexican food like white wine garlic butter?!) AND... the crowning glory... the food was VERY expensive. ($14 for an enchilada and taco plate.) Not impressed; doubtful I'll be back.

Eh... My sister eats a lot of Mexican/TexMex, so I end up eating a lot of it and she occasionally wants to come here. I just think there's a lot better tex mex out there, especially for the price point. I don't like either of the salsas they bring out with the chips, and the chips aren't usually warm and toasty like I prefer them. The fajitas are weak, especially for the price. I've had enchiladas, tacos, and a burrito and nothing really tasted too great. Service is nice, and the drinks are good! But I think that there are just better options out there if you're looking for this kind of thing.

This is hands down the best mex in AtlAnta. This is the only location outside of Texas. Should I one day find myself on death row, this will be the last meal that I request! My favorite is the chicken and shrimp fajitas

Let me first start by saying that it was the Manager who made this a three-star experience, otherwise, the place isn't too bad. We came in for a birthday party, a loud, boisterous group of 25, with a reservation. Strike one, the reservation was made under a non-existent name, and even upon correcting them, they STILL kept calling us by our wrong name! They also insisted that we couldnt be seated unless more than 50% of our guests were there, which being in the restaurant industry ourselves, we completely understood, except that when the first 13 of us sat down, 4 members of our party were seated, and waiting for us. Blink blink...okay. On we go! I have to say, the server had it down. Because we were such a large group, and we wanted separate checks, we were issued coasters with #'s on them. I was #9! Genius if you ask me! A great way to keep it all straight! We were told the dinner special of super fajitas on steroids for two, for $42.95, cocktail orders were taken along with our appetizers, now here's where strike 2 comes in! The birthday girl inquired about pitchers of Margaritas, after all, this IS a Tex-Mex place, and she decides to order two for the table. WARNING: THESE PITCHERS COST $45.00 A POP!!!!! We were NOT told the pitcher price in our server's description of availability, yet we WERE told the price of the dinner special???? Blink blink...okay. Cocktails and apps down, we ordered dinner, feasted and enjoyed our evening, the service was on point, and our food was delivered without being auctioned-off, which is always nice! Like I stated above, 25 restaurant employees were gathered together, so we put the service to the test without being obnoxious...I swear. In fact, we were easier than most large groups, given what we do for a living. They were fine with the fact that we brought our own cupcakes, and even helped us to suitably embarrass the birthday girl with their fast-paced birthday song! Our table was well-maintained, our water glasses kept full, and with the exception of my food getting thrown out accidentally, instead of packed to go, which they totally remedied on the spot by producing two newly-cooked tamales packages for me to take home, our server dropped our checks, and we systematically paid-out. Now this is where strike 3 occurs. Our birthday girl is presented with her check, and its well over $100.00, because of the $89.50 for the two pitchers of margaritas she had ordered. We are all shaking our heads, wondering how on earth 2 pitchers can costs even remotely that much? Charging a top-shelf price, PER GLASS, for a 32. Ounce pitcher is dishonest, especially when people order pitchers for the price-break mostly! Also, they don't say that they serve pitchers on the menu, so when you ask, and are told yes, they should be obligated to tell you the price! We called the manager over, who told us that 50% of the guests become offended when told the prices for things! My girl totally didn't accept that answer, given we had been told the price of the food special, and she let him know that most people would rather be offended knowing the prices at the beginning of a meal, then pissed off when the check gets dropped. It's almost like lying to someone; you take away a person's right to make an informed decision for themselves! She asked him to discount the check, flat-out. He took off a pitcher, she paid up, and we grabbed the rest of our cupcakes, and headed out. Evening a success. An 18% auto-gratuity was placed on our checks, which we knew of, expected, and tipped on top of...every...single...one of us double-tipped. It was a good evening, other than the little glitches, but Pappasito's handled things really well over-all, especially considering it was prime-time on a Saturday evening. Pappasito's is a fun, loud place. The tortillas are made right there, the ceviche is really good, and we liked the atmosphere in general. It was a good, in-the-middle place for a lot of our party, and the parking was plentiful. Be aware of the things they DON'T tell you, and you won't go broke eating there.

I wound up here with my coworker for lunch after we had a morning client meeting not too far away. The weather was particularly warm, so we were hankerin' for a patio - any patio. And because Tim's more familiar with the whole Marietta-landscape (ITP girl and proud of it!), I deferred to his judgement. Since we were both starving at this point (did I mention how long the client meeting was - 2.5 hours), the chips and salsa our server whisked out to our picnic table on the patio (yes, no problem getting a patio table) was a welcome sight. The salsa wasn't as flavorful and spicy as I'd like it, but it was house-made, which was nice. We ordered beef fajitas and a "lunch salad" (salad with avocado, tortilla strips, chicken fajita meat, tomato, onion, etc). Tim had been raving to me about how excellent the shrimp brochettes were, but when we learned a side order of 4 was an extra $10, we decided to forgo that little indulgence. I don't care how jumbo those shrimp might be, or what quality of bacon they were wrapped in, that's a little steep for shrimp! Everything came out in a timely fashion and we tore into it with a vengeance. My salad had a lot of volume on top in the form of tortilla strips (which I could really care less about), and after removing those, I observed that it was concealing a lack of lots of chicken on my salad. But whatever. The tequila lime dressing I ordered on the side was unusual and tasty. And Tim demolished the beef fajitas with little trouble either. Solid food, but not the best Tex Mex I've ever had - especially for the price. All the employees were very nice. The hostess seated us immediately and our server Gillen was quick and efficient and friendly. He split the check with no trouble and brought refills for us without prompting. Overall, a fine experience, but I think for happy hour I might hit up Tin Lizzy's or El Azteca for the same drinks at a more reasonable price.

Great fajitas!! Meat is very tender and juicy. I usually end up eating no more than 2 fajitas, since it comes with beans and rice also. I love their tortilla chips also; they are so thin and crispy...almost like popcorn. I also tried their salad once and it was so delicious The service is also consistently friendly and prompt. The prices are slightly higher than what I would like to pay for their meals, but if you go on a half-price fajita Wednesday night, it is totally worth it.

The tortilla chips taste WEIRD! I think the oil was not only bad but it had a chemical aftertaste. The rest of the food tasted subpar. I think it's gone downhill lately.

We visited this eatery on December 28th at 3:30 p.m. While my wife and I enjoyed the food very much the service left a lot to be desired. the place was very quiet but it took forever to get our drinks, and appetizer. The server was slow and seemed rather confused. What put me over the edge, is that we ordered a dozen tamales to go as part of their holiday special. When I got home, there were only (7). I called the restaurant and was punted from one receptionist to another and I finally gave up on talking to the manager. So, I got on their website to send them an email. (I wanted my darn tamales!) I followed the instructions to the letter and after 3 days, I still have not heard back from the establishment. So bottom line, the food is great. The service left a lot to be desired, and it may be due to poor leadership.

Great food, great atmosphere, and good service to satisfy anyone's hankering for "tex-mex" cuisine. Let's start off with some mildly spicy fresh salsa that is served warm and not cold! The salsa is between chunky and pureed with lots of fresh tasting goodness. There is nothing overpowering about the salsa in terms of too much of any particular flavor...what stands out is it tastes FRESH. The tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and lime juice are present and there may be a touch of a few other righteous additions. The chips are warm and light with a perfect touch of salt. I've tried almost all the selections on the menu, let me offer you some advice...get a combo plate and enjoy a few tastes that all complement each other well. "Everybody" orders Fajitas, I don't think they are great. However, the Coronado Combo serves up three brochette-style shrimp, a cheese enchilada & a crispy beef taco and comes with rice and beans and nice little salad to cool things down. The shrimp are crazy as they are stuffed with a mild slice of pepper, wrapped in bacon, broiled and then served after being dipped in garlic butter that makes you want to moan and groan like when Harry met Sally. I grew up in a part of the country that was richly populated by Mexicans who know how to cook using deep rich chili flavors (not heat) and created a the incredible flavor of Tex-Mex. This place gets it right as it can get without being in the kitchen of an Abuela.

Love to go to Pappasito's. I love the Pappasito's grill old school but they have changed the chicken to just a chicken breast with skin so it's lost some appeal. Make sure to ask for skinless chicken - which is also different from previous visits. Last time we went, we split the Texas fajitas and added the shrimp that comes with the pineapple. It was delish. This may replace the Pappasito's grill as our new fave. The real difference here is their guac and tortillas. Man, I love those tortillas with (white) cheese dip. Yum! The portions are quite large so you can share just about anything on the menu or take it home for lunch/dinner the sequel. So, while it can be pricey, it is usually two meals so take that into consideration. The service can be hit or miss at times. Overall, we prefer this to any other Mexican restaurant in town.

I've got to hand it to OTP restaurants, they love them some neon. And if you've ever seen my closet, you can guess that I do, too. So c'mon, ITP: let's get some more neon going. Neon aside, this place is decent. Like most Tex Mex chains, the portions are insanely huge, and in Pappasito's case they're also overpriced. My cohort and I had one cocktail ("discounted" at $7.50), guacamole, soup, and chicken fajitas and dropped over $50. Yeah, I'd rather go to Iberian Pig for that price. The food is good: better than Rio Bravo or Don Pablo, but certainly not authentic. The soup was the stand out: chock full of veggies, large chunks of chicken, and really delicious. It was a huge, hearty portion and I only made it through about 1/3 before being too stuffed to continue. Our server was fine, the ambiance is exactly what you'd expect it to be, and I can see why this is a popular spot. If they added in some a la carte options for those of us with smaller appetites who don't want to end up the size of a bus (and also hate leftovers), it'd be a 4 star experience.

Came recently to watch the playoffs, and sat at the bar Sunday night. Place was packed as to be expected. I ordered a frozen mango margarita, then followed it with a mango margarita on the rocks. OH MY, the one on the rocks was strong! Tessa was the bartender that hooked it up soooo well. I tasted my home girl's sangria and it was fantastic. Lots of ppl were ordering "The Wave." This consisted of margarita and sangria swirled in a huge fishbowl glass. I wanted one so much, but I knew my limits. As for food we ordered the app sampler. Out of everything on it, the chix quesadilla was by far the winner. They were smoky and nothing short of perfect. The beef fajita nachos were 2nd place everything else was forgetable. My friend tells me their shrimp wrapped in bacon is wonderful too! I love the energy of this place! The bartenders work as a team and really deliver a great time even when it's crowded.

went to this place on a work event and liked the setup. we had the outside patio which was perfect for the number of peeps we had. the food was set up buffet style which was a little difficult to manuver since the tables and chairs were so close together. the staff was fine, they could have passed by for drink orders earlier and more frequent. the steak was good to make tacos out of.

I really enjoyed this restaurant, portions are huge, atmosphere is a bit loud but in a fun way, dimly lit so it can be romantic for a date night. everything from the appetizers, entree and the dessert were tasty. My waitress was very sweet I was never left looking for her for twenty minutes, to get something..

Well, this was a complicated and amazing experience all together. My husband and I started out with appetizers. Unfortunately, neither of us like our appetizer and opt not to eat it. Hey, it happens...the waiter notice and the manager approached our table and ask if he could replace it. I thought that was very considerate, but we declined because it was our fault. Besides, we were very hungry by now and just wanted our meals. After waiting almost an hour, the waiter informed us our ticket got messed up and we waited some more. Manager came over again and apologized. And we were good sports about it because the level of customer service exceeded our expectation. Needless to say, the food was absolutely amazing. I think this is the only Mexican food I will eat for now on. The food truly has a unique taste and quality about it. We waited over an hour for our food, therefore they did not charge us for our meals. It was my bday and I was a little disappointed, but hey...the meal was free and we got a complimentary dessert. Needless to say, my hubby tipped the waiter $20 for his customer service.

Coming from the Great State of Texas, I know Pappasito's intimately. I've eaten at the original one in Houston and almost every Pappas eatery in Texas and Atlanta. I have been eating at this location since it opened almost 20 years ago. I'm not a fan of chains to be honest with you but I have NEVER ever had a bad or sub par meal at this location or any of the dozens of other Pappas (Family that owns these restaurants) establishments. It's not a Mexican place but a TEX-MEX place. It's got Texas written all over it and that's not so bad. The best cuts of beef, seafood, and home made tortillas and salsa. I went here last night with a friend and had the Shrimp Brioche with Ribs. Ribs were spicy and fell of the proverbial bone! Those shrimp will be like nothing you've ever tasted. Smokey salty bacon wrapped around a juicy char grilled Gulf shrimp stuffed with cheese and a tiny chile pepper...Dios Mio! Mouth watering yet? Forgive me for not mentioning the best most creative margaritas East of Tejas! It's not cheap but for what you get, it's way way worth it!

First place I've found grilled fish tacos in Atlanta (what is it about fried fish tacos here?)- served with rice & black beans, with colorful purple cabbage, cheese and sour cream. Flavorful and fresh! Giant entrees, and good value. Better than most other Mexican places around. Large parking lot that gets filled really quickly, the restaurant is huge and can accommodate large groups. Near my office so very convenient, though on busy Windy Hill Rd.

Heavy spice to used to cover dull food. Combination of foods that don't taste good together. Good service, but high priced. I wouldn't characterize the food as Mexican, so much as "with names that sound like they might be Mexican in nature." I've endured the Pappasito's Grill (thumbs down), Mexico City Style Chicken & Rice Soup (I think Mexico City should be offended), and the Pappasito's salad (the best of the 3 options). One thing I've noticed eating here, is that it seems that the chef thinks that grilling chicken means burning grill marks into the outside long enough make the outside inedible in burned strips and the inside questionable on done-ness.

Where do I start. This really should be a "0" but since they had good cheese dip.... So a friend of mine scheduled a reservation earlier in the week for ~17+ people. When we got there (on time) we were told our entire party had to be here before we were seated. (Hostess didn't say anything of this such on the phone - otherwise we would have all been here on time). A few minutes go by and 10 of us get here. Not only are we all waiting in the lobby when it was insanely crowded (table ready) but they cancel reservations if the full party isn't here in 15 minutes. (Also something the hostess neglected to tell us when we made our reservation - Nor does it say these things on their website). After 15 minutes go by our entire party is here. But we have to "wait" yet some more for our table which was already supposedly ready?!?!? By the time we sit they still do not have enough chairs for all of us. When the reservation was made it was for 17+ people. They only had 12 chairs. So we had to wait for them to bring another table. Took a few minutes to get a waitress here to order our drinks and we never got water. The salsa and chip lady made us pass the salsa around instead of placing it down the table. She loaded 6 cups of salsa down at one time, then with a face made a hand gesture for us to pass it down. Ok ok, not so much a big deal. But at a restaurant that costs as much as this place does, she can walk down and place them herself, and loose the attitude. Waitress came and we all ordered our drinks. Took 20 minutes for our drinks to come. By the time our frozen drinks came they were halfway melted. One thing we will admit is more people decided to show up to our party. Well, that means another table. They were very booked and crowded so they weren't able to bring us another table. We had 3 other people come and they couldn't even bring them a chair. BUT since we made a reservation for 17+ you would think they would have at least chairs for 20. And especially if we made our reservation earlier in the week, not last minute. The only positive thing about his visit is their cheese dip is good. Not your average white dip. Salsa is warm so it throws you off. Not used to warm salsa's. When looking at their prices you would expect great customer service?!?! Well after they couldn't accommodate us we ended up leaving, paid for our drinks and went to another Mexican restaurant off Atlanta road. I called up last minute and they had tables and chairs for 20+ people ready in seconds and we didn't have to wait for service at all! Job well done! Kudos to Monterrey's! To sum up this "book" we will NOT be back. Service was horrible, food over priced, and way too crowded. Note to Pappasito's: "If you cancel reservations after a party is not all here within 15 minutes, you might want to let us know when making the reservation, or state that on your website". A manager never came to ask us what was wrong of if he/she could help in any way. Thumbs down!

We sat down and then got back up and left. Their prices are extremely high. We've eaten here before, but they went way up in their pricing. Seriously, fajitas are $21.95! I am on a low cal diet and 1 taco was $4.95!

It has been a while since I've been to Pappasito's and the other night we were craving some Mexican and decided to give Pappasito's a try. When we walked in we greeted right away by the hostess who sat us outside on the patio. After being seated we waited a while before our waiter finally showed up to take our drink orders, then we waited for a while for our drinks, then the waiter disappeared before we could order our food that we had decided on before he even brought out our drinks. Finally he shows up and we order our food, then it is a very long wait after that before our food arrives. The margarita my girl got was good, but certainly not worth the price. I opted for their beer special for $3 since their regular beer prices are around $6 for a bottle of beer. At least serve something exciting if you are going to charge that much. For dinner we split tamales which were excellent and one of the combination dinners. The combo dinner we had consisted of a cheese enchilada and stuffed pepper with rice and beans. The combo was ok, but not that great. My overall experience here was not great, and I doubt that I will return anytime soon. The prices here are very expensive for a chain restaurant, one can do better and save a lot of money by visiting one of the 100 other Mexican restaurants that Atlanta has to offer.

Pappasitos' Cantina is probably the most consistently great Tex-Mex chain in the country. Here's what you need to know: -Best item on the menu: Pappasitos Grill Pros: -Fajitas are what they are known for. Can't go wrong there. -The brochette shrimp is fantastic, so if you dig shrimp make sure your entree features them. -Margaritas are very fresh and are made from fresh fruit juice/purée, not mix. If you're looking to get shmammered, probably not the right choice though. -Awesome mariachi band on weekend nights. These guys kill it. You may get to hear a Spanish rendition of "Bad Romance" if you're lucky. Cons: -Place does get busy, and subsequently, a bit noisy. -Service can be a bit of a toss up depending on how busy the restaurant is.

Good but not cheap. for example at lunch my wife ate 2 shrimp tacos with beans and rice, my daughter ordered 1 tamali, and 1 enchilada with rice and beans, my boy ate 2 ground beef tacos with beans, and I ordered 2 enchiladas with rice and beans. 2 cokes, 2 waters, and some queso dip = $90 including tip. I can get just as good mexican for half that just down the road. I won't be back.

We decided to stop here for dinner as we were driving through Marietta. So, so glad we did. We went on a Friday night and parking there was like parking for a theme park. The parking lot was stuffed to overflowing and we had to find another portion of the lot just to park. I was sure there'd be a huge wait considering how popular the place seemed to be, but there was no wait, which was an awesome surprise. The restaurant is LOUD. As in, my husband and I resorted to shoving forkfuls of food at one another to say "try this" and giving thumbs up in between inhaling chips in order to indicate what we were thinking--no conversation could be carried on in that atmosphere. There was a roving mariachi band, which can hover in between offering entertainment and fear (at least for me--I hate when bands stop at the table and expect requests, tips, etc., especially while you're trying to eat--but hey, I'm awkward). These guys were awesome, though. When we weren't clearly interested in them stopping by, they kept moving--and they did some pretty great covers of popular songs. Cheesy, but entertaining. I can't say I ever expected to hear a mariachi band play a Lady Gaga song. Though the restaurant is apparently famous for their "fajitas and margaritas" neither sounded great to me so I ordered the Antonio combo--cheese enchilada with red chile sauce and a beef taco al carbon with chile con queso and pico de gallo. The combo came with rice and beans. Chips and salsa were also provided with the meal. I started with the enchilada, which was pretty tasty, but I wish I hadn't--once I got to the taco I was really full. The taco was absolutely amazing. The tortillas are clearly freshly made (if the tortilla machine in full view didn't convince you of the fact) and the meat in the taco was fantastic. I couldn't even finish half of what was on my plate (probably because of the chips) and I was pretty sad that I had no way of taking leftovers back to our hotel room. The only downside for this restaurant (and hence, the reason for the four stars) is the sensory overload. There is a ton of noise, as I mentioned, and you're extremely cramped while eating. I shifted my weight in my chair at one point and nearly hammered a woman in the back. Other than that, the server (Taylor) and the food were great!

The best beef fajitas you will ever get. Every time I am in Atlanta for the week I always eat here at least once. The food is always fantastic as it always is at every Pappasito's that I have ever been to. I see a lot of people crying and giving them poor reviews because of prices. If you can't afford don't go her and purchase a great Mexican meal then I have some advice. Next time just go to Taco Bell, that way you can get fast Mexican food that is cheap!

Pappasitos was our favorite place in San Antonio so we had to stop by this one while vacationing in ATL. The food was delicious and we had the nicest waitress! You HAVE to try the beef fajitas... you won't be disappointed. =) The prices have gone up a lot since the last time that we went, but overall we had a great experience.

I met up with some coworkers hoping to take advantage of the 1/2 Price Fajita Wednesday special and have a couple of margarita's. The place was slam-packed, and we were smushed together at a small table, practically dining with the next tables. (the woman next to us had to send her food back twice) Our food was OK, just OK: nothing amazing or outstanding, and the 1/2 Price Fajitas weren't such a great deal: the large size is the half off deal, and although it's an massive amount of food, it's still around 20 bucks. The drinks were verrrrrrry weeeeeeaaaak and had "airport prices", about $9 each. The waiter was nice, everything was clean and well run, but I wouldn't go back considering there are tons of authentic Mexican places out there with the same quality food, better prices, and much better drinks. Also noteworthy; I wouldn't want to be on a date in this place. There is no such thing as a private conversation with the way the tables are all crowded together.

Best Tex-Mex in the business or at least I'm Atlanta. We were actually looking for just a cheap taco place. But couldnt find the 2 other places listed in the area. I knew this place was higher priced but always enjoyed it in the past. Got the fajatias & man oh man. Got them to give me a combo of chicken & steak. I'm not a fan of chicken but that was the best chicken I've had. The steak was moist & tender & or server kept our glasses filled. My wallet isn't so happy but my belly is full.

I thought I wouldn't like it. I didn't want to like it. But that burrito with fajita chicken was really good! The whole Pappasito's, Pappadeaux thing is a little campy for me. I didn't like Pappadeaux all that much (mediocre food, service was terrible), so I didn't expect to like Pappasito's at all. Plus, Mexican food is the one thing I'm a little snobby about. And if you have a different kind of restaurant across the street, how can your Mexican one be any good? But the place was pretty good. One of those big chainy-looking places, but my plate had some good flavors. I got the Pappasito's burrito with fajita chicken. I'm quoting my boss on this one, but "the fajita chicken" makes all the difference. You can taste the char in the chicken. The burrito comes wet with sour cream and some type of "hot sauce" on top (it's not hot, don't worry). The tortillas are awesome because they are made fresh. They use a machine to press them, which seems a little mechanical... I was hoping to find some little lady patting the tortillas down with her hands ;) Anyway - wouldn't go out of my way for this place, but it's great to have close to where I work. Good for a sit-down trip out of the office. *Surprise, the green sauce in the Corona bottle is sweet!

Homemade flour tortillas are on my top five list of favorite things to eat. There is something about the warm, sort of gooey, fresh taste of them that just makes me smile. So few Mexican restaurants make their own tortillas these days, that I wasn't expecting anything special from Papasitos. Wow, was I surprised! Sometimes it is great to go into something with low expectations. You will often be pleasantly surprised, as I was. I would visit Papasitos for the tortillas alone. Yes please! Visited for a friend's birthday and was not disappointed. Husband and I got half-priced chicken fajitas for two for about $15. The fajitas were good. Not necessarily great. The chicken was amazing. Really thick, juicy, and fresh. There weren't a lot of vegetables to go along with the chicken though, I would have preferred more. The rice that came with them tasted a little weird. Didn't touch the side of melted butter. I don't really like butter in excess. I guess I am a true California girl! I was not impressed by the price. Regularly, the fajitas would have cost about $30, and I just don't think they would be worth it if I had to pay that. The "half-priced" deal was good...not great. Service was just ok. We had eight people and they sat us at a table with six chairs, and then just smushed two more chairs in. Slightly uncomfortable. It is worth a visit, but I would only recommend going on half-price night. Solid 3.5 stars.

The food is good, we ordered a family chicken fajitas, it was good. Quick service. Well cooked Nice staff. the food came in literally within approx 7 min after ordering. But expensive for what it is.We paid including tips 50$ for one plate of chicken fajitas (check pic) + side guacamole + 1 drink all was good but price expensive for what it is Would you pay that much for next time? it is your call :)

I love this place!! Their food is superb and tasty! I was originally going to Pappadeaux but their wait was too long so we decided to walk across the parking lot to Pappasitos. Even though I was in the mood for seafood, I was extremely satisfied with the tex-mex. I then went for Cinco de Mayo and it was the BEST Cinco celebration I have EVER been to!! I try to make this a twice a month spot. Service is great...

This is the best Tex Mex place on the planet! I soooo love this food can't wait to return this month! My brother took his gf here since it was her fav place and he proposed to her... We had a large group and one waiter that nailed it she was fab and funny! The fresh chips, guacamole, drinks everything was amazing! Highly recommend if you love tex mex food... I only wish there was one in the ny/nj area but in the mean time I will go to Ga to have it!

Great food, great atmosphere if you like noise (people having fun and getting loose), primarily off margaritas and tequila (Ayyy). Great service and the guacamole dip is superb if your a fan, if not, guzzle down their margaritas, and don't forget the salt. For you non-drinkers water or sweet tea is always an option in the south.

I give an A+ for their beef fajitas. They're always cooked to perfection. I like to eat them with that garlic butter sauce. Mmm...greasy goodness. I have tried other entrees here and was not impressed. I've stuck with the fajitas every time and have never been disappointed. I have noticed that they've gotten smaller over the years. I guess it's the recession in action - everyone is downsizing. I've been coming here for years and have found that service is hit or miss. Sometimes I'll get someone really good but other times I'll get someone really, really bad. I've had on more than a few occasions servers who didn't realize that they had a table, servers who forgot that they had a table, servers who forgot to put in an order, servers who put in an incorrect order. You name it, I've experienced it here. The managers are always very good at fixing the problem which usually means a free queso or dessert. Still, I think they'd save a lot of money on those freebies if they did better training of their staff.

3 stars: A-OK Pretty decent chain restaurant serving Tex-Mex. Big servings, chain prices. This is that after-work, have a beer by the bar and grub on a big plate of food type of place. Queso is good, the chips are usually fresh. Don't know why I come here, but I do. It's not super memorable, but they do make a nice chicken soup. Squeeze in some limes and it's really good.

Thumbs down. Definitely not as good as I'd hoped for. Overpriced. Slow service. Not really that great. Or even good. I'll take cheap hole in the wall Mexican over this any day for food quality.

Food: excellent. Chips and salsa: excellent. Atmosphere: excellent. I can whole-heartedly endorse this place as one of the better Tex-Mex places in town. My one major complaint is that YOU WILL STINK when you leave becuase the kitchen emits a strong odor that will stay on your clothes. I still have a heavy wool jacket that smells like Pappasito's Cantina. It might sound unimprotant but if you go, insist on sitting as far from the kitchen as possible!

Great food and a nice atmosphere. We were on the 15-20 minute wait list, which turned into a 2 minute wait. Our server was new but very helpful and conscientious. The drinks were good. The chips and salsa are right up there as on of our favorites. The Spicy Chipotle Chicken was delicious. The chicken was moist and tender with just the right spice. Others in my party enjoyed their meals as well.

I don't really understand all the 5 star reviews of this place. It is a popular place though--especially with my co-workers. I get dragged here multiple times, and I don't think I ever had a super-duper experience in Pappasito's. Every time you walk in, there's this funky smell that permeates this place. I usually go in for lunch, and sometimes their lunches are more expensive than the normal menu items at other Mexican places I'm used to. The taste isn't that much better. I have ordered a number of different things on their lunch menu and none of them ever impressed me. Sometimes, they would taste so bad I can't even finish them. In conclusion: it's over-priced, crappy-to-average Mexican food.

After my last review on Pappasito's on yelp, I quickly was contacted by one of the managers. They were very apologetic and mailed me a gift card to make up for the terrible service. As doubtful as I was based on my last visit, my husband and I decided to give them another try since we were in the area. We did not mention our previous visit or show our gift card until the end of the meal just to see how things would be. I must admit...the service was 100 times better. Our waiter's name was Shaun and Pappasito's has him to thank for our returning business. He was fantastic. Very quick and efficient and friendly to boot! When we paid with our gift card the manager came by the table to check on the service to be sure it had been adequate. It had and more. Of course the food was delicious! I can't ever pass up the fajitas when I'm there...even better that everything came out at the same time and was fresh and hot! I guess we had just happened to go on a very very bad night the last time. Shaun has helped to renew my faith in Pappasito's. I also really liked the fact that the managers were quick to try and make things right...shows that they care about the customer. Good save Pappasito's.

Awful! Came here for a business lunch with colleagues that are local to this area and had the worst lunch I've possibly ever had in my life. I had to specially order "Vegetable fajitas", as literally every single thing on their menu had some sort of meat or fish on it. I asked the server if it was possible to just get vegetable fajitas, and I quote her as saying "Ummm, we don't really do that, we put meat on everything." After I explained I don't eat meat she then said "Well, what do you want on there then?" Finally getting through to her that I just wanted vegetable fajitas, she left in a huff like I had personallly offended her by not ordering a meat dish. The food took way too long to arrive for a table of four- probably 20-25 minutes. If this place was small, I could understand the wait. However this location is GIANT, with a parking lot the size of a football field and about a million tables inside. When the food came, it looked fairly good, but with a suspicious cup full of yellow frothy stuff next to the sauteed vegetables. Upon closer examination, we determined that this cup was full of butter. Not only was there a full cup of butter on my plate, but the vegetables for the fajitas were already coated in butter. So coated you couldn't even taste the vegetables. Yuck. The tortillas were fresh but bland- way too thick with white flour to be authentic. Wasn't given water to drink. Server had an attitude the entire time. Was charged an extra $1.95 for sour cream. Overall, a horrible experience not worthy of the $20 price tag. For lunch. Ridiculous.

My first time here. The service was EXCELLENT! Although they got my order wrong, the manager came out right away and apologized, corrected the mistake, and adjusted the bill (removing the entree and a side). This was above and beyond excellent customer service! Let us not forget the lovely server, Alisa. I will definitely return and i I'm hoping this review sends more business to Pappasitos Cantina.

More than anything else, the great customer service in this restaurant impressed me. I only visited this place one time, and in that one time visit, they messed up my order. However ,I am still giving them 5 stars, because the way they handled the situation was more than amazing. Me and my friend both ordered something. After a while what my friend had ordered came to the table, but there was no sign of my food! After we asked about it, we realized that the server had forgotten about my food. Of course, it was not convenient, but as long as me and my friend were not in a rush and at the same time we were understanding that our server had several tables and it could happen for anybody to make a mistake, we decided to not make him feel any worse and just wait for the food. We did not make a big deal out of the situation. However, in a little bit the manager came to our table, and started apologizing for what had happened, even though we did not ask for him or did not look super upset. He apologized several times, and said that because of what happened he will take care of our bills. He also asked us to order dessert or anything else that we want, and it will be on him. It was really impressing to me! If this was not happening, all I could have remembered from this place was how much I had to wait to eat my food, and I probably would not bother to go back there again, but what the manager did totally changed how I remember this place. I also need to mention that the food is great.

Outstanding Mexican food for a chain. For groups I recommend sampler appetizer plate or as your meal if you're really hungry. The enchiladas and queso dip are great. The place was packed on a Wednesday night.

Ive been to Pappadeaux so many times and Pappasitos is right next door so my friends and i decided to go there tonight. I got the Pappasito's Grill ...."skewer of mesquite-grilled beef & chicken fajita, bacon-wrapped shrimp & vegetables over rice, with pineapple pico de gallo" I ate only the shrimp, chicken and beef but i dont recall seeing lots of veggies. I do remember seeing a random carrot!!! The meat was really juicy so i enjoyed it. At first, i ordered the classic margarita which was teh nast so i sent it back and got the special one(forget what its called) and it was alright. I will probably go back but make sure i try a different drink from the other 2 i tried. Thumbs up on meat and FAIL on drinks.

The food was awesome...if you love Mexican food...you have to visit here. Keep in mind that the place is huge and amazingly packed. I can't be the only one agreeing if you can pack a place this large and still have a wait to be seated.

Great place for lunch or dinner. I have been to this location many times and frequent them while I'm traveling in other states if I come across one. This is a chain, but a darn good chain. The food is great and the bars are huge and always jumping. Most locations have big out door patio seating as well. You do pay more $$$ because of the overhead of these large restaurants and the service can very greatly. But generally I have been satisfied most every time I have went. Suggest the fish tacos or steak combo plate with the Diablo shrimp for dinner. The salads are great for lunch specials. Pros: Pretty good food, big bar with great selections, large roomy feel with out door patio available. Cons: Its a chain (No sense of ownership from the workers as you find in most chains). Can be VERY loud. I don't go out of my way to go here. But when I do, I'm never disappointed.

I love Tex-Mex. And, I rarely get it since I live in Raleigh now. But, when I'm around a place like this, I can't resist eating here. I have been to Atlanta twice in the past few months on business and have eaten here three times. Two were in the dining room and one was take-away. Their dining room service is definitely much friendlier than the take-away people (that didn't even offer utensils!) Pappas chips and salsa are awesome! The chips are light, thin and crispy. Their queso is good, too - it has peppers, onions and tomatoes in it - the way queso dip is supposed to be! Their flour tortillas are the bees knees!!! Definitely do not forget get an order of the tortillas. The take out order I got was two cheese and onion enchiladas with chili con carne. It would have been tasty, I know, but when I got back to the hotel, I realized that the container was foil and I couldn't re-heat in the microwave. Sad. I ate cold enchiladas - but they were still good, just probably a little saltier cold then they should have been. I don't want to go back to Atlanta any time soon since it means being away from home, but I do want to get back to Atlanta soon so I can have Pappasito's again!

The food is ok. Everything else is lousy. It is way too loud. They need to remove about half of the tables so you don't have to sit on top of other people and the service is just awful. After your drinks are served and orders taken, you will never see your waiter again. Someone different will bring out your food and, as my case was last time, when your order is incorrect, they don't stick around to hear (or ASK) about the accuracy. After staring at the wrong order and an empty glass for 30 minutes, I just ate the incorrect order and my wife got up to refill our own drinks. Only then, did we see the waitress again. This case was not the exception. I keep hoping things will be different each time I go, and each time this is the typical service I get. This last time was my final attempt. I give up on this place.

Loves me some Pappasito's for many reasons. I stopped short of giving it five stars for three reasons: There's often a wait, and it can be long, which is annoying. It's overpriced - not ridiculously so. But when you are dropping $80, $90 or $100 more in a Mexican place for two people, it makes you scratch your head. The mariachis. Holy crap. I don't mind mariachis if they are authentic and playing Mexican standards. But listening to these guys in accents belt out "Margaritaville" and "Rock Top" (yes, that's right, Rocky Top Tennessee) is cringe-inducing and laughable. I guess it's okay if you can deal with the kitcsh of it all. But I find it annoying. (You can see I'm fairly easily annoyed). Now on to the good: the chips and salsa are plentiful and delicious. The chips taste fresh and they are warm, not like some places where they taste like they came from a bag off the delivery truck. The salsa is delicious; nice and chunky with fresh ingredients, not that nasty canned shite they serve in some cheaper joints. I've never gone wrong with a choice here. Some of my favorites include: tacos al carbon, shrimp diablo, quesadillas with beef or chicken. It seems like they use fresh ingredients, though I'm sure some of it is packaged or canned. It's still really good. I think my favorite things here are the queso and the guacamole. They make the guacamole tableside with fresh avocados, cliantro, lime, tomatoes and onions. Again, they don't use that nasty canned junk you get in low-rent joints. The queso is delicious, too. Nice consistency, a little on the thick side, with an authentic "queso" taste. They make their tortillas on the premises (or do a really good job of making me think they do with some giant tortilla apparatus within view), so they are always hot and fresh. Their margaritas are pretty good. Unfortunately, you have to go "top shelf' to get the better ones. Their house margaritas are average, at best. Too small, not enough booze. But if you step up to the platinum or high-end ones, it gets much better. But again, when you are paying $10 and above for a margarita, that seems a little steep to me. I will keep going back. In spite of my minor gripes, I like the food and the service is always pretty prompt.

We have been here a bunch of times now and I am going to have to demote it a star. The food is still really good, but the service is always so-so. Also there is now another Tex-Mex restaurant in town (Chuys) that I like a little better, so it no longer has the appeal of being the only authentic Tex-Mex restaurant in Atlanta.

Lot of cost for a lot of mediocre food. Ordered Pappasito's Grill (skewered beef, chicken, and shrimp cuts with grilled pineapple on the side) and shrimp quesadilla. Excellent service though. Glass was never empty. When the order came out half cooked they took care of it right away, however, nothing was comped to make up for this kitchen error. It wasn't even busy... I hope... never to go again. In terms of satisfying my Mexican craving it did nothing. Chips were blah. Salsa was blah. Table-side guacamole was blah.

It was my wedding anniversary yesterday. Yes, thank you. I thought about where my wife and I might eat. Being together as long as we have we have pretty similar taste in food. We both like seafood and we both like spicy food. I wanted to go to Pappadeaux's but they only have my favorite dish at lunch. We decided to go to it's sister restaurant Pappasito's. Pappasito's is part of the giant Pappa's chain which has many different types of restaurants. We arrived around 6:15, I guess. The was plenty of parking. We went in and the placed was crowded and loud. It is always loud. There are a million tables and they are very close to each other. They said 10-15 minute wait. True to their word we were seated in about 10 minutes. The place was buzzing with people in all stages of their meal. Fresh guacamole was being prepared table-side at a table nearby. It was $10 or so. It seems kind of pricey. Warm, thin, crispy, translucent chips soon arrived at our table with two salsas. One was a warm tomato-based chipotle, the other a tangy tomatillo salsa. Both were excellent. Our server's name was Jamila B she was prompt and friendly. My wife ordered the Shrimp Brochette dinner (21.95). I ordered a Plato San Juan a combo of Shrimp Brochette and Baby Back Ribs (19.95) just to mix it up.The Shrimp Brochette are a house specialty. Order them and you will see why. They are mesquite grilled jumbo shrimp stuffed with cheese & fresh jalapeños, wrapped in bacon with pico de gallo. Both plates come with beans and rice. I noticed in an area called Great Additions on the menu that they had Fried Jalapeños 3 for 2.95. I ordered them as well. We enjoyed our chips and salsa and talked. Our order arrived in short order. Everything was piping hot. The only part of the order that was special was that I ask for double beans instead of rice and beans. I received my double beans. Extra points for that. The Shrimp Brochette dinner came with six shrimp. My combo had four shrimp and half rack of baby backs. The plates had a metal insert that kept the food warm for a very long time. The shrimp were incredible. The ribs were great, slightly smoky with just a bit of sauce. They were just barely falling off the bone like they were properly cooked and not steamed beforehand. Very tasty. The beans were good with bits of pork and cooked just right. Oh, I forgot to mention that the Shrimp Brochette come with melted butter to dip them in. Man oh man. The Jalapeños were three giant batter fried peppers stuffed with ground beef and cheese served on a bed of shredded cabbage. They were very crunchy and tasty but too salty. Minus points. Our server checked back by often. I had to ask for my water to be refilled once. They were very busy so that is no big deal. I ate two of the peppers, three of my shrimp, maybe a third of the ribs and a couple of bites of the beans. My wife ate five of her shrimp. It was a lot of food and we were quite full and a very happy campers We noticed the floor staff gathering about, they marched over and began to sing happy anniversary to a couple. Uh oh. I had told our server it was our anniversary. Moments later our server appeared and offered us to the singing but we declined. Dessert was offered and again we declined. Numerous containers were provided to us by our server for our coveted leftovers. She even provided salsa to go. We paid and left very contented. Overall a great experience. Truly excellent food and very good service. I am debating the rating. I don't think it is worth deducting a point for salty peppers. It was very noisy, butt it was happy noise people having a good time and enjoying their dinner. Ok, 5 Stars. I am not a pushover they earned it. This is the only Pappasito's outside of Texas. I think we are lucky to have them here in Marietta.

Complimentary chips: They bring a huge basket of it and the salsa is tasty. The chips are very thin -a nice change. Crabcake appetizer: Disappointing. There was like, one measly portion of crabcake (and might I add, there were little chunks of shell in it) with avocado, and the rest of the plate was filled with chips... great, like we need more chips. Chicken fajitas for 2: Not bad, the chicken is tender and juicy. The fajitas were warm, fresh, and thick. It comes with a side of rice and beans (one per person) We had a ton of leftover food that we ate later as a meal. The pricing is eh.... I tend to not really like spending more than I need to on Mexican food. Food is pretty good, but nothing special.

One of the few places in Atlanta to get great Tex-Mex and yellow queso (rather than that white stuff that has the consistence of water that everyone in GA seems to prefer). They also really good sopaipillas to end the meal--I'm talking melt-in-your-mouth ones (rather than overcooked brittle tortillas with some cinnamon on them that other places make). The fajitas, especially the steak, are to die for. They often have 1/2 price fajitas on Wednesday nights which is a great deal. The salsa is excellent as well. Everything here is great. This is one of our favorite family places to eat. I've been here numerous times and the service is always great. As others have noted it can be extremely loud, so be prepared for noise, especially at the rush hour times.

My husband and I had lunch at Pappasito's for the first time this afternoon. It wasn't the worst Mexican food I've ever eaten, it's just routine chain restaurant food. My margarita was pretty good, the chips were nothing to write home about, my husband's chili relleno was pretty good, his enchilada was sub-par, my tacos were ok - not good, not bad, just ok. We probably won't be going back. Service was ok.

Great Mexican food for Atlanta. Although it's not better than Nuevo Laredo, it's easier to get a seat here, and it's out in the suburbs instead of deep in the city. I like the Plato Chapala for a satisfying lunch. Brisket taco, pork tamale, and any of the enchilada options plus all the fixins and their endless salsas are more than enough to satisfy.

Amazingly delicious!! The queso dip with beef fajitas - I'd say yummy!! My husband and I split a large order of beef and chicken fajitas which three people could have easily split! We added shrimp fajitas to our order and it was just pure bliss! Ask your server for the white wine garlic sauce to add to your dish. It adds much yummyness to your dinner. Highly recommended, we shall return! :)

While definitely better than most of the Mexican chains out there, the fact that it is still absolutely chain Mexican keeps me from giving it 5 stars. That being said, had a great lunch here with boyfriend's family. We sat outside, since the weather was so great. Service was good - our server was attentive and quick, but seemed just a little scatterbrained. We had to remind him of a couple of things - missing a drink, needed something, etc. Nothing major though. Tableside guacamole was really good, as it usually is. Nothing like fresh guac :). Margaritas were definitely made right - after my one grande-sized, it was a good thing I wasn't driving. The lunch portions were still good sized, but manageable, but I still took half of it with me. Boyfriend ordered a dinner platter and only ate half. Everything was pretty good, though. Again, above average chain Mexican, but with more diversity on the menu than Don Pablo's or Chevy's. One downside - boyfriend's mom is a bit of a clean freak, and a large majority of the silverware that was on the table when we started had food caked onto it, or wasn't clean in some other way. Overall, though, and especially considering that good Mexican is not always easy to find in Atlanta, Pappasito's holds it own in the chain restaurant market.

A group of friends went there for dinner. The restaurant is always packed on the weekends, and parking is tight on the upper deck, but they do have a lower deck. This is my second time going there. Each time I've gone there, I had a wonderful time. The food is ridiculously good!

Pappasito's feels like an upscale, over-priced attempt at mexican food cuisine shadowed in the over-bloated tones of stereotypical western restaurants. Went with a group of friends before peak lunch time and we were seated in the empty dining room next a couple. It felt uncomfortable with the tables being so close to each other and the fact that there were plenty of other tables to be seated at. The food was delicious but not worth the price listed. The tortilla chips were nice and crisp, but the salsa came out warm and watery. The lunch special came out with a full plate of tacos, beans and rice. The sides felt a little skimp considering the price of the meal. Overall I enjoyed eating at Pappasito's, but I'd rather hit up the hole in the wall mexican place before this place.

I've been here for lunch several times. This restaurant gets absolutely packed during lunch hours. It gets so full that chair backs from separate tables are literally bumping up against each other giving you basically no room to maneuver and no room for the servers to get through. Service is slow and the space gets so loud it's hard to hear what people at your own table are saying to you. Expect to spend at least one and a half hours for lunch here. Finally, the place has a weird smell, especially when you first enter. My friends and I think it's burnt grease or something. Despite all those qualms, the food here is OK. The cheese dip, quesadillas and lunch fajitas are good. Generous portion sizes, but it can also get a little pricey for lunch. The servers are nice and courteous, but as previously mentioned, it takes a while for the food to come out.

I can't believe all the good reviews. I had a lousy experience here. I was excited to go too. Started out bad when the hostess started to seat us in what I would call the "greenhouse" area. It was so hot and muggy...they might as well have seated us outside on a hot muggy day. I told her no, I'd like to sit in the regular dining area. She then seated us at a table that was only inches from the table next to us, and inches from a pole that when from floor to ceiling. I again told her no, how about a table "over there." Folks, it was around 3pm on a weekday and the place was nearly empty. Why did she want to seat us next to a table of people inches from us. She later sat someone there and I couldn't believe how close this person had to sit to some stranger. The food. Chips were good, but I didn't care a lot for the salsa at all. I lived in Southern California for years, been eating Mexican food for years, and all I can say is that the salsa at El Pollo Loco is better. My fiance and I ordered. I got the shredded beef tacos. Something I usually love. The beef was unseasoned, had no taste, and was mushy. Not good at all. My fiance ordered something that I cannot remember the name but it came out in a bowl of grease. It didn't taste bad, but was hard to finish. I have had much better luck at Fronteira Mex Mex right down the road (although I haven't been back there in a few years actually but always had a good meal there before...get the Alambre). I will not be back to Pappasito's anytime soon. Oh, from what I remember, the atrium looking area also smelled musty.

LOVE the chips & salsa! I love these thin, thin chips and both the red & green salsa's. Could make the whole meal from this. I mostly get their Pappa's salad w/fajita beef. I'm so happy to see they now have it in a small portion as well as the large. It's yummy. Good fajita beef, olives (blk & green), crispy fresh lettuce, cheese and tortilla strips (like I need more of those). Salad dressings are good too - vinaigrette & poblano honey mustard. Both good. My friends ordered platters, tacos and burritos. Big portions for sure. They all liked it very much.

Pappasito's on Windy Hill Rd. always delivers an excellent experience. They offer a unique blend of Tex-Mex style cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. We have visited with them many times over the past few years. Our most recent visit occurred on 12-21-2011 for the celebration of two birthdays. Reservations were made in advanced and we were seated promptly upon arrival. The appetizers of Queso Blanco and Table side Guacamole were delicious. Pappasito's serves freshly baked flour tortillas with their Queso and they are always warm and tasty. My wife and I split the special of Plato Festivo which is similar to their Fajitas for two entree but also includes brochette style shrimp and lobster. I have been to this restaurant a few times before over the years and always found it to be a pretty fun place, but a little too crowded. On this instance, I went to Pappasito's for a friends birthday dinner which was made up of 10 people. One thing about this place if you are going to have a gathering and make reservations, make sure that at least half your party shows up on time in order to be seated promptly. This appears to be one of their policies. Our waitress was very polite and helpful and I helped myself to a house margarita on the rocks (thinking cheap since I hadn't started my job just yet) and waited for the rest of our party. The chips that were given to us were alright, even though they claim that they were made on site, I felt like they may have been sitting out all day since they tasted a little stale for my taste. I also was not too keen about the salsa... I thought it was a little too runny and lacked some tomato and cilantro. I ended up ordering the Coronado, which I believe was about $9, which is not bad considering that the portions was gargantuan.... The Coronado had a taco half the size of my head stuffed with beef which was a little over spiced, some cheese, tomato, and lettuce, it also had an enchilada, which was completely covered in cheese.... I called it my "cheesy surprise", that was really, really good!!! In addition to the huge enchilada and taco there were three large shrimp stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon... YUMMY!! I loved this part of my meal, but unfortunately I had a bad surprise when i saw that they stuffed it with a long piece of chili to give it some kick, which I'm not really a fan of. So I just performed surgery on my little sea monster and went to town on those suckers. Once I ate my fill, the waitress packed my food, which was enough for lunch the next day, so if you want left-overs this would be the place to hit. Overall, I was satisfied with my entree, but with they didn't go so heavy on the jalapenos or cayenne pepper. They also need to work on their salsa and better chips. Oh and their house margarita wasn't too bad either!!!

We are from Texas but now live in Knoxville so the location outside of Atlanta is my closest Pappasito's fix and it never fails to delight! The service is great. The atmosphere is comfortable and fun. The food is outstanding! Be sure to try the white queso con carne and eat it with wonderful warm homemade tortillas instead of chips. We love the steak burrito and chicken spinach quesadilla. Salsa and fajitas are real winners too. Yum!

Best salsa in the world. If you know of a place that serves better salsa, please let me know. I'd like to try it! The food is always on point here and tastes fresh. The steak/beef is seasoned and cooked to perfection. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. My fav mexican food place in the ATL area!

For the area, I would choose Papasitos. The price point is a bit high, I'll give you that. But the portions are generous and the chips and warm salsa are yummy. One tip, if you order the Mexico City soup (and you should) the large is in a HUGE bowl.. Enough for 3 people, in my opinion.

I literally cant stop laughing from all the "best Mexican in ATL" reviews. Are you serious? This place is blah. Their food is WAYYY overpriced for the generic crap you could get up the road at los bravos... I didn't really experience "great service". I thought the salsa was unique. Not in a good way. I have family members that rave about this place like its their freakin job... so we are always here to celebrate something. They do a nice job for birthdays... and the desserts are pretty yummy. I usually get the fajitas. They are decent. Not the best. But decent. I just cant give this place more than 2.5 stars simply because it is so expensive for the quality of what you get. Go here if you don't have any other options. Sorry, just don't like it!

I first visited Pappasito's when I was in Dallas a few years ago. For some reason I really liked it and had wanted to go back for a long time. Unfortunately or I guess fortunately I only got back to Pappasito's a few days ago in Atlanta. I must say something was missing. Not being very hungry I ordered a Chicken Quesadilla and a beer. Before I forget, the service was excellent. My server was attentive, but not pushy, she brought my check at just the right time and my water glass was never empty. The quesadilla just didn't match the service. At least the beer was cold!

From someone who worked there for over a year, it's still my go-to restaurant years later. Even working there, I never got sick of the food. The food is incredible! The margaritas are a little pricey, but you won't have a margarita anywhere that tastes that good. People either love or hate the green salsa- I LOVE it! Try the Capriotada- it is the most wonderful chocolate dessert I have ever had at a restaurant. Particularly on Friday and Saturday nights, it's really crazy in there and extremely loud, and often makes it difficult to hear conversations at your own table (my only reason for giving it just 4 stars). A word to patrons of the restaurant: This serving job is very difficult and stressful. Patrons have no idea what servers have to deal with in the kitchen and on the floor besides the patron's table. Please be understanding- Pappasito's does an incredible job of providing intensive training and ongoing education to servers. Patrons truly have the pleasure of being served by highly-trained servers!

I suppose I should feel guilty - but we love this place. Food is consistently good & service has always been friendly. Had the Enchiladas and a Chicken Quesadillas - I know pretty basic stuff, but it good. The Original Margarita is good - and I'm not a fan of house margaritas.

When I first heard we were going to go for Mexican food in Georgia, I was thought this is the last place I would think of Mexican food, since this is the south. The food is tasty and the portions are pretty big. The margaritas have a nice kick as well. The regular salsa was a little too tomatoey for me, so I got the green salsa. The green salsa has a nice tang to it and a little spiciness. Unlike most places the fish tacos here are made with talapia fish. That also serve different meat like quail which is great too. Luckily our party came before it got busy, but this place would be really fun with a big group.

Never had a bad meal. If you have been to Chevy's it is very similar food. More Tex Mex. ...beans a la charra rather than refried.....you get it. Flour tortilla maker - ensures that tortillas come out HOT and fresh Fajitas - man they have this down. Melt in your mouth goodness Portions - Fajitas for 1-2 can easily feed three Price - Great Large portions you could share Specials - they run them no coupons needed - they are weekly Drinks - they serve frozen drinks yippie Enchiladas - one of the only place in atlanta where I can get Jack cheese instead of Queso....we dont use queso in California. The only annoying thing is sitting inside you are bombarded with birthday singing for partrons from the wait staff which is more like birthday YELLING. It can happen at anytime, anyplace and can be a little startling. This place is not quiet. You may have to yell periodically during a date. Still go to this place

Pretty good for the standard Tex-Mex fare. I used to live in Houston, so I was well aware of the Pappas restaurants, but hadn't ventured to the one here in Atlanta for quite some time. We decided we were in the mood for Mexican, so we ventured in on a recent Sunday evening and were seated immediately. The chips are nice and light and freshly made, so they're always toasty. They warm their salsa as well, which can be a bit strange, but it has a nice, smoky flavor to it, but I prefer somewhat chunkier and spicier salsas in general. The portions are always enormous. For our recent dinner, I ordered the Guadalajara ($10.95), which comes with 4 main components as well as the standard rice and beans. This allowed me to split it into eating two of the main pieces (a taco and enchilada) for dinner, along with half of the sides while taking the remaining two pieces (another enchilada and a tamale) and the sides home for a second meal. Thus, considering the portion sizes, the prices definitely don't feel unreasonable, considering it comes to about $5.50 a meal. The flavors are generally pretty tasty to me at least for standard Tex-Mex Our server last night was a bit strange and was definitely pushing the standard sales pitch to try to upsell (queso, guacamole, expensive blended drinks, desserts, etc.), which I do find annoying, but overall, it was a pretty safe, standard experience at Pappasito's. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here on a regular basis, but if I wanted Mexican and was in the area, I'd definitely consider stopping by.

Simply OK. Overpriced for what you get but the fajitas are decent. Service was pretty good although a little slow for lunch time. The menus are available online but pay them no attention as some of the items are not necessarily available still. As has been said by others, its LOUD so be prepared....

This place is the bomb!!! From the stairs leading up to the joint to the decor inside and the atmosphere! We were there at lunch. They have plenty of menu items. Vegetarians have to ask, but there are plenty of choices for us, which isn't apparent from just looking at the menu. I was lucky, my server was awesome, she recommended stuff and chatted with us quite a bit. We actually had a blast with the waitress. Try the Mango Margaritas. They are delicious!!!!! You cannot just have one. I was a little tipsy when we left at high noon. =D They only get four stars for not indicating vegetarian options on their otherwise awesome menu. If all servers who work there are as good as the girl who waited on us, then this isn't much of a problem. But I think she had a crush on me. ;) They make their own tortillas. You can watch them. It's pretty interesting to watch when they make a batch and tasty, too.

Funny that I never knew this place is a chain. So my husband and our friends had a nice chuckle when I said "wow, how did you guys find this place?" We split the beef and chicken fajitas, sort of our norm at most tex-mex joints. Beef was okay, but the chicken was much better in my opinion. The beans were REALLY good - great flavor. I think their margarita needs some work (or maybe just some actual tequila in it - mine tasted like margarita mix). Overall, lots of fun - LOUD fun! And some great exercise hiking back to our car! (That is one massive, confusing, and congested parking lot.)

  • Scott K.

Good food and good atmosphere. I have never been dissapointed. The only issue can be parking which can be quite a mess on a busy night, or a holiday. For me, the chicken has never been dried out and the chips have never been stale, Good service.

Awesome tex-mex chain restaurant. There are a ton in Texas. For some reason, there's one in Marietta. The place is almost always packed (including the parking lot). I guess this is a good sign that the place is good. Diablo shrimp was to die for. Oh SO good. Steak fajitas are great too. The make their tortillas fresh and warm. They are on the thick side... but very good. Skip them if you're on a low-carb diet.

I'm Mexican from LA and I certainly wouldn't say that this place is authentic by any means but it serves its purpose. I've been here a few times because it's by my job and I have had a good experience every single time. The waiter comes to your table and makes the guacamole in front of you. It's fresh and although you will have to add salt and lemon to taste it is a cool feature. The salsa is also pretty good and I generally end up smothering it on the fajitas. They have a fajita special that several people can share because the portions are huge! They also have pretty good margaritas. Good overall.

If it were possible on the yelp star rating system, this place would get 7 stars. Unfortunately, I am held within the rating realm of 5. Pappasito's has got to be one of the best restaurants in Atlanta, hands down, don't argue, I'm right on this one, stop yelling. They specialize in Mexican seafood, which I never really knew existed until their menu told me so. What type of Mexican Seafood you ask? Their Baja Fish Tacos (taste way better than they sound) for example, have this special pink sauce on the top that will make your taste buds do the Macarena called "jalapeno crema." I feel like a Latin lover just typing that. My personal favorite though is the Shrimp Quesadilla, which is technically classified as an appetizer, but being the rebel I am, I order it as my main entree; which I then follow up with a nerdy laugh and "stickin' it to the man" fist pump. The service is good too, but I don't think I paid to much attention to that aspect during any meal that I had there because I usually found myself focused on the delicious food.

I loooooove pappasitos! They have fresh tortillas, good drinks, and great fajitas. We always order chicken tamales as well. They are soooo good! Don't order the quail though.i ordered that last time and it was tough and tiny.

The plates here are ENORMOUS! You can order a meal and without a doubt share with another girlfriend. The only way I see you not needing to share is if you are a hungry growing boy or man! Plates are huge, food is great (they even fixed my entree when it came out differently from what I had asked for due to miscommunication) it was fast, and the atmosphere was fun and happy and even on weeknights the place is packed!

Margaritas are always strong and tasty. My favorite is the "wave" - sangria mixed with frozen lime margarita. Go for the larger size, it's a better value and you'll definately want more! Tortillas made fresh - watch them roll out on the machine - served super hot, they melt in my mouth. Best fajitas in town hands down!

[repost from previous account] It's no secret that this is one of my favorite places in the general vicinity of Atlanta - multiple visits and of course every celebration for the past three years or so have taken place here. Though still not worthy of that fifth star. . . Food is excellent. LOVE the guacamole here. Neither I, nor anyone I know has every had a bad experience with the food - aside from the habanero pepper incident of 2007, which was surely at no fault of the restaurant. On the bad side, they are almost always extremely busy (usually at least a 45 minute wait), but the bar makes up for that if you're interested. The wait staff is kind of a 'luck of the draw' situation - I've had the good and the bad - which is no different than any other restaurant. Great place for a happy hour! Overall, in my opinion, the food is worth it.

This is a really awesome place to eat! I have friends who drive 1-2 hours to take the family here for a special occasion. Yes, it's that's good. I worked here for a little while several years ago and was able to witness the food preparation practices and was incredibly impressed. EVERYTHING is made from scratch. I especially love the chips: frying them in coconut oil makes them impossibly good. Also, try the fajitas - you will be so stuffed with deliciousness. The desserts are splendid, too, if you can possibly manage eating them. I have eaten here so many times and the service is usually excellent. The only exception to this is the one time that I ate there with a friend who I had been trying to take their for months. We were on a lunch rush and the service was horrible. Lesson: don't risk it if you are in a rush. The only downside to eating here is that it tends to be on the pricey side, costing more than the average chain restaurant. (Yes, it's a chain). It's worth the experience, however.

By far the best Mexican food I ever had! We had a group of 15 and we had the best service ever. I ate the Pappasitos grill which was amazing! Ask for Tyler and or Jenny for your server. I was really impressed! The review that spoke about the random carrot was funny and true! Enjoy!

I've been here several times, the most recent being with a group of about 12 of us. We ad reservations for 8, weren't seated until about 8:45. That was ok though, being a Friday night. Our waitress was very nice and kept drinks full, etc. The food was OK. I've had different entrees before, which were all about on par with any other "higher-grade" tex-mex around, think Casa Grande and Don Pablos. For the same food, Pappasitos is just a little overpriced. This past visit my friend and I ordered several appetizers to share. We had the pork tamales, which were actually my favorite--thumbs up on those; the spicy ribs--nice flavor, but kind of dry and not a lot of meat; and some fried shrimp w/ some kind of, what tasted like store bought sweet & sour sauce. I had one of their Sangria/Margarita drinks which was good, but not as good as the one's at Casa Grande.

Fun, cute, and over-priced, but still worth a trip. The menu is interesting, and it's a step up from your neighborhood Mexican restaurant (El Azteca - I'm pointing at you!). Still, even though everything usually comes out looking gorgeous, it's not actually that much better in terms of taste. Ceviche is decent, but sitting in way too much over-citrused liquid. The chips have a weird greasy aftertaste that is different than other restaurants. Reminds you of how your mouth feels strangely coated after eating fruity pebbles. The types of dishes on the menu are a step up, but execution never exceeds decent. Drinks are good, but weak. The best thing going for this places is that it's got a lot of energy, and the bar area attracts a fun crowd of drunken IBM employees. Watch out for roving mobs of docker-clad, thirty-something men after work who are drunk and flirty!

My husband LOVES Pappasito's. In fact, we had birthday dinners for him there for a couple of years running. If I were basing my review only on the food, I would give this place 4 or 5 stars. As it is, I'd give it a "3.5." The reason for giving it only 3.5 stars is the same reason we stopped having my husband's birthday there. The first year, they LOST our reservation. We had a party of 20-30 people, so this was not amusing. After we all milled around in the front area for a while, they asked us to go and wait in the bar. They ended up giving us all of our appetizers and I think some drinks for free as an apology, so I kind of forgave them. The next year, they told us that they no longer took reservations, but that we could use "call-ahead seating." We tried this, but it didn't work very well. We ended up waiting for a pretty long while. After that, we gave up on having birthday parties there. Everything else about this place is pretty darn good, though, so we've still eaten here several times after the above incidents. The service people have always been extremely nice and highly efficient (except for that reservation rigmarole). And the food... is SO good. I highly recommend the tableside guacamole. They make it in front of you and it's really yummy. Pretty much all of the food is REALLY fresh and in enormous portions. And the drinks are good, too. And that is the story of Pappasito's. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoy their food. :D

I've been to Pappadeaux next door and had always been meaning to try Pappasito's. Based on Pappadeaux being run by the same people, I had expected that Pappasito's would be like a solid 4. But unfortunately, my experience was average at best -- given the higher prices of Pappasito's compared to your bog standard Tex-Mex place, I expected more from them. To start, I wasn't a big fan of the salsa and the chips weren't great either. I agree with Diana L.'s description of both as "blah." Their homemade tortillas were great, but that's a small plus unless you're planning on making a meal out of just tortillas. Anyway, my chicken enchiladas verdes were thoroughly mediocre but at least edible. My friend sitting next to me got beef soft tacos and was also underwhelmed. I tried a bite and the beef was dry, overcooked and grainy. In my opinion, those tacos were inedible -- I would have sent them back. The service was fine, but the food was blah to me. Maybe I would have liked it better if I got the fajitas -- that's what the people in our group who suggested this place rave about. I'm not into fajitas, though, and given the price range of their menu, I should have been able to get a much better meal without limiting myself to one specialty. Anyway, I wish this place had been better, and I had assumed it would be pretty good given that Pappadeaux is good for a chain and run by the same people. I almost feel heretical saying that I like several local basic, average nothing-to-write-home-about Mexican places' food better, but I do.

Our rude server unsmilingly delivered subpar, overpriced food. Don't waste your money--go across the street to Pappadeaux (same prices, better food). On a brighter note, it is a good environment for business meetings.

The fajitas are great. I am always weary of getting beef because it is often overcooked, but that has never been a problem here. The flour tortillas served with it are absolutely fresh and delicious. The service is just okay. Usually young people with large sections. One time I went there are the whole place smelled like bleach, which was a big turn-off. I have two complaints: they have too much crap on the table, and the margaritas are really weak. The meals come in several pieces and there is always a real estate issue on the table. I wish corporate would realize that I can do without the table tents and fake flowers. It does not take much for me to get a buzz. I can drink two margaritas here and feel nothing. There is also so much ice in the glass that it's hard to move my straw around.

I hadn't been to Pappasito's in YEARS (probably close to a decade) and we decided to go back for my dad's birthday this year. The interior was exactly the same as I remembered and the service was also just as good. However, I was definitely disappointed in the food. I opted to share chicken fajitas with my dad. I love the fact that they make their own tortillas and they really are some of the best I have ever had. As for the way they prepare the fajitas, I'm just not a fan. They were completely immersed in butter which totally grossed me out. I have never been a fan of butter, I rarely use it for anything outside of baking recipes that call for it, and the fact that the meat and veggies were drenched in it just really made me want to gag. On top of this, they serve the fajitas with a side of the liquified stuff. Do people really love butter that much outside of Paula Dean? It was just gross gross gross in my opinion. It was also weird how they brought out the toppings for the fajitas - just one little side dish of toppings. It was really annoying to have to pass the toppings back and forth and use them sparingly. Maybe we could have asked for more, I'm not really sure. I think they should give each person their own little side of toppings. If I go back to Pappasito's I will defeintely be ordereding something else off the menu. So three stars for decor and service - they didn't even fuss about the fact that I brought in cupcakes for our desert.

Good good, chips, salsa, cheese dip. Service is usually good too. I was there last week and the issue now is pricing. $22.99 plus for Steak fajitas? Really? Plus extra for cheese and sour cream?! I am a long time fan, but the overall pricing will keep me from ever returning.

So you're on Windy Hill, why the heck are you going to Pappasito's? Surely not for the food. Heck even Don Pablo's down 41 is far better for Amerixicanized fare than here. I Seriously don't know why this place is so highly rated. I suppose if a pretty crowded, loud, sorta-decent decor, and sub-par faux-mexican food that costs too much is your thing, this place should be at the top your list. Close by recommendations: Alameda! Far far superior food, nicer restaurant, less expensive. You can do better than Pappasito's.

I had fajitas for the first time in my life if 1989 at a Pappasito's in Houston. They are still just as good as they were the first time. Just doesn't get any better. I asked the bartender in Atlanta once what was the secret about the garlic butter. I guess I shouldn't have even said "secret", he told me that employees have to sign something saying that they won't share how the garlic butter is made.....maybe BS but I wouldn't doubt it, I'd drink it if they served it in a shot glass. I often get to the Atlanta location late in the evening after work, which means I don't have to fight/wait for a spot to eat. As it's late, I've taken to getting Ceviche, and sometimes if I'm hungry 3 tamales, at the bar. Ceviche is usually outstanding and very generous in quantity but keeps it lighter than regular fare. If you show up at a peak hour, you're going to wait, no doubt about it. But that has been the same for the 8 or so years I've been going here, which is a pretty good sign by itself. Before the Papa's chain started their expansion, I've been told this was the highest grossing Papa's restaurant in the country.

I totally forgot to write up a review for this place. I went awhile back and ordered the chicken enchiladas, they were pretty good. The Margaritas were tasty as well. I would come here more often if it wasn't so far aways. I mean for a franchise this place has great service and food, which I cannot complain at all. Funny thing is, a friend of mine loves this place so much, she and her boyfriend drove from TN. and all they wanted to eat while in town is this restaurant, they say it's the best fajitas they have ever had. I mean for Americanized/ Franchised Mexi food, I cannot complain, but if you are asking for authenticity- then you'll be bummed out. Size of the margarita will lighten any face , it's quite big..and from my one visit, the place is quite packed full of OTP folks and their little ones.

Been here, done that. The food is okay but NOT the best i've ever had. And its a bit on the expensive side. Last time I was here I had the Chicken and Spinach Quesadillas and a margarita, which was pretty good. Nuevo Laredo and Los Bravos are waaaaay better and you get more for your money.

This is a great place for good Mexican, and is great for groups. My most recent excursion was for a party of 8. They will take reservations, and will *try* to honor outdoor seating requests. Which we got. And they were nice enough to seat us even though not everyone in our party was there. Bonus -- a lot of places don't do that. Quick summary of usual ordered items: Margaritas: Very good. And potent! Salsa: Served hot -- be prepared for that. But it's good! Cheese dip: Tasty, but run of the mill; I've only had the yellow. Guacamole: A tad expensive ($10!), but yummy. Made table-side. Nachos: Excellent. That's what I get for my meal when I come here; they serve them pre-assembled, so you don't have to worry about a big nacho mess. They used to do half orders, but no more. That sucks.

  • Christian B.

Is it authentic Mexican? No. Is it good Tex-Mex? Yes. Expects lots of saucy food smothered with cheese, most of it better than what you'll find at El Azteca, La Parilla, etc. The tamales are a great way to start the meal. Still wrapped in the husks when they arrive, the ones we ordered Friday night were filled with lots of moist chicken (pork is an option, too). When we've ordered these elsewhere, they've come out "naked" and way too dry, but not here. They're a must-have whenever we visit, which has been less and less due to a price increase last year. Over our past several visits, however, we've enjoyed the chicken enchiladas, chicken flautas, steak quesadillas and the beef fajitas. It gets crowded (and loud) during peak hours, so go a little early or late and you'll enjoy it more. We tend to avoid Friday nights mostly cause there's usually a mariachi band playing and it's not our thing. We do enjoy hitting the bar on a Sunday afternoon, where we'll split the Pappasito's sampler (which comes loaded with quesadillas, flautas, nachos and more). It's more than enough food for two and is a great way to dine affordably. Otherwise, expect to drop close to $30 for two with no alcoholic beverages.

I know that some reviews say Pappasitos is over priced - but I disagree. For the proportions you get, it's no more expensive than the boutique-styled taquerias around Atlanta. I've eaten in and carried out from Pappasitos more times than I am count over the past 11 years and have never had a bad experience. My husband and I always split the fajitas for two - it's one of those places that we can count on for consistent quality and service. Their chips and salsa is hands down the best in Atlanta and the margaritas aren't too shabby either. The fresh made tortillas are so amazing and I would love to have their same magic tortilla machine. You can literally watch as it presses the dough ball then flips and cooks it on the little conveyer belt before being delivered to your table. Also, no matter what you get - ask for a side of mantequilla dipping sauce. I would literally bathe in that stuff if I had the recipe. It's sinfully awesome - just like the chicken fajitas.

Feel free to bring a large group here. I mean, even if you had a group of 50. Seriously. They can seat you here. This wildly popular (and wildly gigantic) Mexican place by way of Marietta is popular, and well loved by families, margarita loving people and everyone in between. (read: must make reservation during peak times despite the place being able to hold a small army. popular.) One strategy tip: Try not to fill up on those chips. Practice restraint, even if the little triangles of saltiness call out your name, begging to be dipped in one heck of a salsa.

From the thin crispy chips, warm & delicious salsa, and creamy frozen margarita, to the perfectly grilled Mahi, our meal was fantastic! The guacamole was awesome (which is always a standard of measure for a Mexican restaurant, in my opinion!) The tortillas are made fresh right in the dining area. I don't mind the slightly higher price tag for quality and service this good. We've been searching for great Mexican food ever since we moved to Marietta, and I believe the search is over!

Like Dora the Explorer says, Mmmmm Delicioso! If only life could consistently deliver the amount of joy I get when I eat and drink margaritas at this wonderful Mexican establishment. Pappasito's is definitely the best Mexican restaurant I've ever eaten at - and I use to live in San Antonio, Texas. The enchiladas, quesadilla, tamale, nachos, fajitas, etc are all outstanding. I typically get the enchilada lunch combo with rice and refried beans. If you really want something good, try their Shrimp Brochettes, which are huge shrimps on top of a jalepenno pepper and drizzled with melted shredded cheese. Be warned though, you'll likely spend at least $12 for a meal here and another $7-10 for a margarita. But hey, life's too short not to waste money on Mexican food.

Really good mexican food, but not inexpensive!! This is definately your "upscale" mexican restaurant with plenty of choices and big portions. Their big drinks can also set you back a pretty penny- and there's not much alcohol in them. The fajitas are fabulous, served with melted butter for dipping!! The tortillas are made fresh and hot right there and their free chips and salsa are some of the best I've had. Lots of seafood on the menu, but I just thought their seafood was just so so... They do have really big and yummy deserts! For me, the chips and salsa, the fajitas and then share a desert! This place can get packed for dinner, so

This was one of the best meals I had while staying for the week in the area. The Baja Fish Tacos were amazing. I also enjoyed the Avacado dip which they make table side for you. Service was friendly and very prompt. I definetly plan on returning. Myself and the 3 others who accompanied me all enjoyed our entrees. Waiter told me that on Friday nights they have a live mexican band that plays and roams around the dinning area. I was very impressed with the quality, quantity, and the service. Comes highly recommended.

This is the only Pappasitos outside of TX- thank goodness! Atlanta has horrible Mexican food, the only other decent restaurant is Uncle Julios/Casa Grande. It's not cheap and Friday and sat nights are crazy, but their fajitas are the best, seafood dishes are great, and if you somehow have room for dessert, this is the best Tres Leches anywhere

I took a couple good clients for my first meal at Pappasito's and it was pretty darn good. I had the colossal shimp fajitas for lunch and wanted to sleep the rest of the day. They also have good happy hour beer specials. I didn't rate this five stars because its a little pricey and the seating could be better for this price point.

It's a cute little place and maybe a bit too packed for my liking. We called ahead on a Saturday night after reading other reviews and seeing the hour long waits. Well, this didn't do us much good seeing how we still waited for 25 minutes. The chips and salsa were good and our server was "okay". After I finished margarita no.1 she never asked me if I wanted another or gave me much of an opportunity to request 1 more. I ordered a cheese enchilada with a bean taco. I ended up getting a cheese enchilada meal with 2 enchiladas, rice, beans PLUS my taco on the side. Now, I may be a bit naive and hope that if I order beans and cheese and options without any meat that that's how they'd be served. How silly of me! The enchilada sauce contained miniscule chunks of beef on them. The beans in the taco also had meat in them. On the plus side, there cheese artichoke dip is extremely yummy and the margarita I did have was great.

Ive been to many Mexican restaurants around the U.S. since i get to travel alot due to work. And i can say this "Mexican food" was one of the worst, lacking soo much in flavor(Taco bell probably has better taste). I only came here because I was craving Mexican food (after being away from LA for so long) and had read great reviews and also as I drove by I saw alot of parked cars outside. I've had better tasting Mexican food while in Japan which was cooked by a Cuban chef no less!!! Drinks are decent and service is good, and portions are good which is why I only gave it 2 stars. If you want to try great mexican food and happen to be in Los Angeles and want great priced food and drinks, search for La Barca.

Anyone who poorly reviews this restaurant is OUT OF THEIR MIND. The food is out of this world! The flavor is unmatched and the quality is top notch. The only legit complaint is that the place is crowded and noisy. As has been noted, this is not authentic Mexican food. But as far as I am concerned, authentic Mexican food kinda sucks. It lacks the flavor and quality of good Tex Mex. Ive been to Mexico a couple of times, and everything other that the guac was bland. Fajitas are out of this world. I can't vouch for the chicken, just steak. It melts in your mouth. IT IS the flavor that all these authentico places try for their Carne Asada. My mouth is watering. I have been here many times and rarely have a tried anything other Fajitas. But, what I and others have had has been great. The brochette shrimp was a flavor explosion. Tamales were great. The salsa and chips are perfect. Ugh, if only they had one of these on the south side...

can you say delicious!!! i love me some mexican food and was not disappointed with my dinner at Pappasito's Cantina. not the most authentic mexican food, however, it was tasty. my bff lives in ATL, was on one of my mini vacays to visit, we split the special "dinner for two" and we enjoyed each bite. she started off with some type of frozen drink (can't remember the name and if she reads this she will fuss cause i always forget names)....anyway....drink was great. the dinner for two was basically fajitas with chicken, steak, big shrimp, AND lobster. i don't even really like lobster but i ate my share!!! all the meats were grilled with peppers and onions and came w a side of butter sauce. also, we each received a plate with rice and beans, both good. i didn't try the tortillas but my friend said they were not good. we also agreed the salsa was watery and wasn't the best. i enjoyed the chips. the place is LOUD, we went on a weekend night.....kinda late....like after 9pm, was packed and so loud i couldn't hear the waiter.

my very first time tonight, I do not live near this area but happened to be near here and upon a friends suggestion treated my family. We were in at high dinner time the place was incredibly packed! wait was at least an hour long,in the meantime met some nice people, had a great frozen margarita and not so patiently waited our turn. There did seem to be many open tables around, so not sure why ever table was not constantly scouted and cleaned but whatever.. Finally seated we were given fresh! yes fresh hot white chips with awesome warm salsa. the dishes are huge! more than one person can eat, unless you are a pro ball player. the pappasitos grill was out of this world, only I would order only shrimp. sorry but the chicken and beef pale compared to the shirmp.. fajitas were also fantastic, service was good, considering how packed the place was. my 16yr old who did not want mexican tonight loved it and that is saying something.. it is loud and dinner total with wait too two hours.. I would not suggest with small kids as there is nothing to do while waiting, but a great spot with some amazing food.

First time I went here was because we could not get seated at Pappadeaux when we wanted and decided to hop over to Pappasito's - and we loved it. That was many years ago and I was happy see that things have not change. Service was great as was the food. Loved the table side guacamole. While I prefer shredded beef enchiladas, the ground beef enchiladas were actually pretty good.

MmmMm... Wish I didn't have to rush out of here from lunch to get where I was going bc this food was deee-lish. It tasted great even after. Had El Sombrero which was an enchilada and fajoita served with a side of rice, beans and guac. Had a side of sangria and this frozen drink thats sangria and margarita mixed 2gether. Nxt time I'll stick to just da sangria. EXTREMELY busy during lunch time so phone ahead for takeouts if you can.

Good but unexceptional Tex-Mex. Enormous busy place with an awkward location, but we were seated in reasonable time. Forgettable, watery tasting margaritas. It was good absent a lot of interesting choices nearby but wouldn't make a habit of it.

My boyfriend and I made reservations two weeks in advance for this place on Valentine's Day. When we got to the restaurant 30 minutes early, there was a 2 hr wait but bc we had reservations they seated us almost immediately and we had a wonderful time. They had a great optional menu prepared for the night which we ended up getting. It was a combination of steak and chicken fajitas as well as lobster tail. PERFECTION. The food and the service were great and thus made our Valentine's very memorable. I got a rose from the waiter and we also had a Polaroid pic taken and given to us. We've been back and still love it. Always a great experience! We plan on going back again this Valentine's Day but I definitely recommend making reservations well in advance.
