    We arrived twenty minutes before closing on Sunday and were lucky enough to get our order in before the doors were locked. Note to non locals, when the hours say, 11:00 to 2:00 it means the doors are locked and the placed is closed down by 2:00. Fortunately we got two pulled pork sandwiches, sides of potato salad and baked beans before those doors closed. The beans were meaty and tangy. The potato salad was thick and creamy. The pulled pork was great when you added the Fincher's sauce. We love the vinegar based sauce as it isn't the syrupy sweet stuff that so many places serve. We also love the very sweet lady who took care of us giving us not only friendly service, but directions back to the highway and information regarding some ugly weather that was in our path. This place is not pretty. It is a landmark dating back to the 50's. You come for the food. That's it. The neighborhood is not inviting, but you are a few minutes off 75 and the food is so much better than the chains. Myron got this one right.

    I always remember riding my bike as a kid down to this place to get there famous barbeque sandwich and brunswick stew. The neighborhood has went downhill since then but still tastes just as good as I can remember. I definitely make it a point to stop through from time to time whenever I return to Macon and happy to see these guys still there and growing. If you visit here make sure and try that combo and you will be more then satisfied. Lifelong fan

    Along with fellow Yelper Alan I find myself in Macon a few times a year on business. I'm a huge fan of BBQ and specifically in Macon, Fresh Air BBQ. This year I was encouraged by my co-workers to try this place because it was better so what else is there to do but get a sandwich from both and compare. I must say this is good BBQ...but [drum-roll]...I'm sticking with Fresh Air. The meat here i think is cooked with the sauce which makes the meat somewhat slimy - not a fan. The amount of meat used was also a little disappointing to the point where when I opened up my wrapped sandwich it at first looked like just a bun. I was really hoping for some BBQ competition but this place is not it for me.

    I wish I was there right now. Brunswick stew is incredible and the pigs are really, really awesome. The Finchers are great too, maybe the best part. I still have it delivered to me on the west coast often.

    Fincher's is an institution for certain groups of people who grew up in the area. The BBQ is good. But I've been eating Fincher's hamburgers since I was sitting in a car seat when they still did a good amount of curbside business and the curbman carried paper hats for the kids. They may not be all they were when my grandfather was lunching there everyday but you just have to check it out!

    We stopped at the original location. We figured anyplace that has been in business this long must be worth the stop. The parking lot was full of locals, always a good sign. Two of us had the ribs and one had the pulled pork sandwich. Everything was good, but not great. The service was fast and attentive. We liked the ribs better than the pulled pork. It was a solid, fast meal at a reasonable price. Not the best barbecue I have ever had, but far from the worst.

    Awesome!! Get the ribs! Food here is a southern barbecue treat and a hidden gem. Truly special BBQ and flavors that make your mouth happy. I'd give Finchers a five star review if the appearance and decor and overall nostalgia, eye-appeal, and dining experience were more memorable. A family tradition since 1935. I can't imagine a Macon restaurant that stays in business 80 years if they don't have award-winning, world-class food. Award-winning, vinegar based barbecue sauce!! Insanely good!! The ribs might be the best I've had ever! Get the ribs. Get The Pig special. Get The Pig platter. Be sure to get a double order of the Brunswick stew!! Truly this barbecue is some awesome food and you will not leave the place without a smile on your face. Fincher's hits the spot. Jake Fincher, the owner is great and his grandfather opened this restaurant in 1935. Jake is friendly, likeable, makes some great meat, knows how to BBQ, and runs a good family-owned, down-home southern, no frills barbecue joint. With 80 years of history and highest praise from Pitmasters like Myron Mixon, so you know this place is legit. Jake should definitely showcase the nostalgia, the history, his father and grandfather and family that have worked there over the years, as well as some high-profile Georgia legends and famous out-of-staters who have dined there over the years. I'm sure some notable and famous athletes, politicians, and picture-worthy people have eaten at this joint. Hang up pictures of those famous people from years past. Outside the look is so worn, tattered, and beat-up so there an insane amount of authenticity, nostalgia, and "simple southern roadside gem" appeal to Fincher's. A little more charm and comfort would make other patrons feel better and remember their brief dining experience for years to come. Anything to honor the history of the restaurant and the city of Macon would be super cool inside (just a thought). I'll eat there no frills anyday of the week. I'll be back! For sure I would love to here again sometime soon. Next time I'm in Macon I am definitely eating at Fincher's Barbecue with or without any upgrades or pictures on the walls or tribute to past memories and the history of Macon, Georgia.

    So I'm a Canadian passing through and I here about this place. So happy I came . So I had some BBQ here. And I can't say enough cool things about the food. Have the super pig sandwich. And a cheese burger lol. If you have room have the Brunswick stew it's OMG good. Hell of a compliment to the super pig . Throw in a sweet tea and your good to go. I visited with the owner Jake for a few minutes and left a 20 dollar tip. He wouldn't take it himself and gave the twenty dollar bill to his employee that's worked there for 41 years lol. I wish I had a boss like that foods made with love and it really comes through with the flavour. Way to go guys !!!

    My friend and I recently stopped by on our way to Savannah from Atlanta and the food was great. The vinegar based BBQ sauce was excellent and my ribs were perfect. I'm from San Francisco, CA, so I'm not sure about the price compared to other local establishment, but I felt like it was very reasonable. The servers were nice and asked where we were from (they could tell we were from out-of-town). I would go back if I lived in the area. I'd recommend this place to anyone I know if they plan to drive by the region.

    If you believe, as I do, that the perfect barbecue joint is one in a bad neighborhood you wouldn't drive to at night, has bars on the windows and just enough grease on the table to write your initials - then I've found it: Finchers in Macon. This place has been around for 75 years and its claim to fame is that a homegrown astronaut took Fincher's barbecue into space with him. The 'cue is authentic... Owner Jake Fincher will bend the rules if you ask and put together a ribs and pulled pork combo plate. Not sure which is the better of the two - both are excellent. Kay loves the chicken: crisp skin, moist meat. We both enjoy their hand-cut, deep fat fried, french fries. The slaw is fair, the Brunswick stew reminds you of Harold's in Atlanta - it's that good. Fincher's has three sauces, the main being a unique vinegar, tomato blend that is two cuts above most. And forr those of us who collect tee shirts (have more than 200, wear them while striving for mediocrity on the racquetball court), their 75th anniversary one is a collector's item. The regulars know to ask for their homemade pork skins. Counting calories? Go somewhere else. Kicker: because the place is literally 75 years old, they are "grandfathered" when it comes to zoning - meaning if they make any structural change/improvement (think: restrooms), they'd have to level the place and start over. Good story; great barbecue. Just off highway I-75 exit 160. Eat inside and savor authentic ambiance, or have carhop service - yes, curbside carhop service.     Was disappointed after the buildup of how fabulous this place was supposed to be. Co-worker and I got the pork plate; BBQ was OK, brunswick stew-nothing special we both felt the cole slaw was the best thing on the plate.

    As good as it gets. Brunswick stew is the best in the whole milky way. Bbq is fantastic. Go get some, you will be glad you did. Killer burgers too.

    Every year I commute to Macon for a couple days on business and this year decided to try a new (to me)BBQ restaurant. Result: Fincher's BBQ is an excellent choice for BBQ done right. Great flavor in the meat, sauce has just the right amount of vinegar, stew is a real nice complement to a pork plate. 4 stars because the sides are a bit small, but you are really there for the Q anyway, right? The Blackberry cobbler looked inviting if you're not stuffed from the meal. Jake, the owner, is a friendly hometown guy who loves to serve great BBQ and make the customers feel welcome. I'll look forward to my Macon trip next year just to get another taste of Fincher's BBQ!

    Can't help but love their barbecue. We get it for our family reunions and it wouldn't be the same without it. The Brunswick stew used to be delicious, but I have been disappointed with what they serve now. Didn't know that I could get it shipped to me out west. I will have to check on that!

    When it comes to local restaurants, the first thing that comes to mind it Fincher's BBQ. There is nothing better than a Mom n Pop's style restaurant and being a BBQ joint you really have to stand the test of time like Fincher's has done. Ever since a kid growing up in Macon it has always been a Fincher's BBQ for lunch or dinner. There is so much family history here along with the great taste of some of the best BBQ plates around town. I suggest the BBQ Lunch plate if you are feeling a bit hungry or not just get 2 BBQ sandwich, fries and good ole southern sweet tea, then get a tea to go for the road !!

    Myron Mixson said if he could only go to one bbq place for the rest of his life he'd goto Fincher's...so i had to go when i was passing through Macon. Pulled Pork was awesome and the Cracklins as well

    Do yourself a favor and skip this place... drive through.. take a look at history but eat somewhere else... pasty Brunswick stew.. ok ribs.. nasty grilled cheese and greasy fries. Server was pleasant though. Maybe it was just a really off day for Fincher's
