Such delicious food. Sweet staff. Fast. Got 1/2 lb pork with two sides, green beans and mac n cheese (for .50 extra). Best mac n cheese ever!!! Came with two pieces of white bread, threw that away. $11 was my total.

Wasn't as good as the last few times. Ran out of ribs so was a little bummed. Collards are usually fantastic but I think the batch I had didn't get enough cooking time cause they were bland. Hoping just a busy day and back to good delicious food next trip.

I've been here a few times and it is pretty good for a gas station joint. The people are nice and the portions are decent.

Went to a restaurant before this that was overly expensive and the food wasn't good. My cousin and I were just looking for some good food. I live right behind this place and just couldn't believe this place inside a gas station has such good reviews. Prices were great. The people there were friendly and knowledgable. Most importantly the food is amazing. We had the pulled pork, bbq chicken, baked beans, and Mac n cheese. All of it was good. I hear good things about their breakfast. That's next on my list to try.

The best BBQ by far. Steve is always generous with our portions. The ribs and chicken are fall off the bone tender. The wings are huge and freshly fried for crispness after they are smoked. The mac-n-cheese is to die for. They even have fresh fried pork rinds. This is definately the best hidden BBQ in gwinnett.

This little whole in the wall is a gem. I love the ribs! We have been all over the east coast and I have to say they have the best ribs I have had! Juicy, succulent, delish.

Interesting that it is built into the gas station. This place is unassuming but damn good BBQ! I had the ribs and they were fall off tasty! Their collard greens were so yummy! Next time I have to try out red neck Cuban sandwich as it's highly sought after. They also have boiled peanuts and have really fast service! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who visits!

This was a highly anticipated BBQ joint that I've been wanting to try. A featured restaurant in a list of the most unassuming restaurants in Atlanta - I mean, a restaurant attached to a Shell gas station - I knew I had to try it. And so did 10 other of my friends. So I would be surprised, too, if I suddenly saw a large group of hungry Asians storm a Shell gas station in the middle of Lilburn, GA. It's not something you would see everyday. When we approached the counter, a server was so shocked, he called for the manager, who helped us with samples and getting our orders in, and even offered us some samples of the Brunswick Stew. Once you place your order, you pay at the gas station register and bring the paid receipt back to the barbecue counter. This is in order for the Tipsy BBQ to receive their profits from Shell, so don't just toss your receipt after paying! I ordered the rib plate, with two specialty sides of the Brunswick Stew and the Mac and Cheese. There was a 15 minute wait on the ribs since they didn't expect so many people at one time, so if possible do call ahead to avoid the wait. The ribs were worth the wait! Tender and juicy with some great smokey flavor, although some at the table noted they were not as smokey as they would have liked. The pulled pork was a little dry, but had some good flavor. The Brunswick stew was beautiful, but the mac and cheese not so much. It was sitting in greasiness and were cold. Avoid the Mac and cheese. Overall, it was a satisfying meal and a unique experience. Sure, it was weird eating at a table with motor oil right behind us, but the service was great with the attentive staff constantly coming back with water refills (sure, in styrofoam cups, but I wasn't picky). A must try in Lilburn, for sure.

Are you ready for this. There is a great BBQ place inside a Shell gas station. It's one of those places you probably wouldn't even consider when you see the gas station. Let's say run down is being nice. And get this - the smoker is parked out front of the gas station and it's two 55 gallon drums! I guess it doesn't take a high end smoker to create great BBQ. The incredible thing is that the BBQ here is absolutely wonderful. You need to understand that I'm originally from NC, which makes me a BBQ snob by birth. I couldn't believe that this joint had great BBQ, but a friend told me I had to at least try it. I focus on the BBQ, so can't speak about the other meat options, but I highly recommend you stop by and try the BBQ. If you love great BBQ you will not be disappointed. (Surprisingly, there is no "Gas Station" rating for ambience. Plan on take out!)

Hands down the best BBQ I've ever had in a gas station. Solid ribs and beans. Mac was even above average. But most importantly it was there for me in my time of need. I needed delicious cheap BBQ quickly to help cheer up my roommate for not picking him up at the air port the night before as we both attended a friends wedding. Well played

You can't go wrong with Tipsy Pig! The food is SO good and the nicest people you'll ever meet work there. After a pretty bad day, I went by for some Mac and cheese, smoked wings, and peach cobbler. The guys who work there are so friendly and have the biggest smiles. It was exactly what I needed! I didn't have any cash with me to tip, but I'll be coming back because they really deserve it! You never know how a simple smile can turn someone's day around, and these guys are the best! It helps that it's also some of the best BBQ I've ever had! The food is cooked to order...but they are quick! My Dad and I probably get some once a week! I will warn that the food is so good you'll find yourself craving it! :) There isn't anything on the menu that isn't delicious! Love Tipsy Pig!

This place is conveniently located inside a Shell gas station convenience store. Upon entering you can smell the aroma of goodness. The food smells so good that if you were just coming in for a snack from the Shell side you'd be more than tempted to try something! The bbq smells out of this world! I had this place bookmarked, so my boyfriend and I decided to come here and give them a try since they were close to the house. If I weren't a yelper, I could honestly say that if I saw this place in the gas station I probably wouldn't have tried it nor came inside but since I saw this place on Yelp I already knew I was in for some delicious bbq. This experience was awesome. The guy who waited on us was such a kindred spirit, he made the experience from a 4 to a 5. He kept a smile on his face and made sure we didn't want for anything. We ordered a slab of ribs, macaroni and cheese, greens and since I just had to try the wings I got some of the smoked wings as well! Everything was great. Normally, I like my macaroni and cheese with more cheese and I'm not sure if it was because I was extra hungry but it was good. The ribs were just as good as the pictures you see when you scroll through here, too. Collard greens were tasty as well. Now, these wings, I cannot believe how I felt about these wings. Some of the best wings I've ever had. They are smoked then fried for a minute. AWESOME SAUCE! I'm almost tempted to come back tomorrow for some more wings. This experience was great. Give them a try!

Reporting live from my seat at Tipsy Pig (singing Beyoncé's 'Let me upgrade you') while I add a star to my previous review. THE SCENE Today's experience is a worthy rewrite of my original review, or in this case an update. It truly is good to visit a restaurant multiple times before putting your opinion to paper. Although this is only my second visit, I want to simply say it was superior to the first in every way. My first review was a generous 3 stars. I was bordering on 2 stars, but I really enjoyed the ribs. This go round I arrived just minutes before the ribs were to come off the smoker. The manager (Steve) offered me a deal on "day old ribs" that were $5 cheaper per rack than fresh cooked, but I held out for the fresh ones even though we were starving. I'm so happy I did. Tipsy Pig took a large leap into possibly being my favorite BBQ pork ribs in Georgia. Hot, tender, nicely seasoned and juicy would be among the list of adjectives I would use when describing these perfectly smoked delicious morsels of meat. 5 star worthy all the way!!! THE RIBS Initially, I had them wrap the order to go, but decided to take a bite while they were hot and fresh for yelping sake. That was all she wrote, because next thing you know we were seated and asking for dishware. [too late] We did a face plant into those suckers right there and didn't stop until there was only a pile of bones, empty Styrofoam containers, and BBQ sauce slathered smiles. I also tried the pulled pork and honestly I'm just not a pulled pork kind of guy. The pulled pork here is okay, but the ribs are simply fantastic! BAKED BEANS/MAC N' CHEESE/GREEN BEANS The sides were also better today, much better than my first visit. However after the manager allowed us to try samples of all the sides, I'm still not a fan of the potato salad or cole slaw. Otherwise I'd give the baked beans a 4 and all the other sides between 3 to 3.5. FINAL THOUGHTS I can't in all good consciousness hand out 5 stars here for anything other than the ribs, but I must say Steve and his crew were delightful and accommodating. Steve (on his own accord) heated up a sample of the day old ribs and brought them to our table to try. Unless $5 means that much to you, stick with the fresh off the grill ribs. There is simply no contest between the two. Actually, having the fresh off the grill ones has ruined me 4life! I serve notice to Tipsy Pig that henceforth I'll be calling ahead to find out when fresh ribs will be ready, hop in my truck and drive there to greet them as if my wife was giving birth to a new baby!!! I must have them this way each and every time! Now, I wonder if I should buy flowers or balloons saying 'welcome home' to our next ribs delivery? LOL

Yes, it's in the Shell gas station's convenience store. And yes, it's great BBQ. I ordered the 1/2 chicken with 3pc pork ribs and I had a difficult time finishing because it was a half chicken!! Staff was very friendly and offered to refill my lemonade twice. There's a bathroom on site to wash your hands after the messy BBQ, but I'd recommend bringing a few wet wipes to the table. Seating is available at the few tables or also on the bar top. The only quirk is that you pay at the main cashier at the Shell store counter, then return the order ticket to the staff at Tipsy Pig. It's a minor inconvenience, but could probably be a bit more seamless.

Love me some Tipsy Pig! And, part of the charm is the location.. It's right out of Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives..

  • Jöshua M.

Tipsy Pig BBQ is nestled inside the Shell station that you'll see first. Look for the delightfully temporary looking banner underneath the Shell sign to confirm that you're at the right place. After you enter, walk right up to the counter on the left side of the gas station and place your order. Where are the hush puppies on this menu? Aren't the prices kind of high? Is there really an upcharge for mac n cheese? These are just a few of life's imponderables that you'll coincidentally start pondering as you browse the menu. Because I'm very bad with money, I went with the two item plate on one trip and the one item plate on the other trip. Pay at the gas station's cash register. I don't know why they expect people to know this. The chopped pork and the chicken are both very good, but they didn't quite have that fresh off the grill/smoker taste that I expect at higher prices. And, no, this doesn't mean they should add liquid smoke (gag). I don't mind the upcharge for the Brunswick Stew, and I've seen upcharges for mac n cheese at other places. Both sides were prepared well and of high quality, but the oil conglomeration on the mac n cheese suggests that it was likely old. The two slices of the cheapest grocery store bread that accompanied the plate was frankly unacceptable. At these prices, they surely could give us Texas toast or corn bread. If not, they could toast the grocery store bread at the absolute least. Serving us two plain pieces of cheap bread just doesn't fit the price of the meal. I don't mind paying $1.75 for sweet tea. I do mind paying $1.75 for sweet tea that isn't very good, especially in the South. This place would be 5 stars easily if I were still on the West Coast and longing for good barbecue. Since we are in the South and TIpsy Pig charges high prices, it is fair to expect a lot from them. It would be unfair to rate Tipsy Pig below 4 stars, but I won't likely return and can't wholeheartedly recommend it.

I love ribs! Crossed state lines for them, coughed up tons of smoke cooking them, never been in a gas station to get some, and i'm glad Tipsy Pig corrected that for me. If you put the address in your gps and you keep passing by the shell station, looking for it, you found it...go right on in! I went in to bring a slab of ribs to my sister's Birthday party (which cost about $23), and when I smelled the inside of the shell station, it was all I could do to not run to the shell cashier with my tipsy pig receipt so I could try a sample of the rib. Fair enough, I didn't ask if they were just off the grill, but the ribs were fall off the bone tender. They have a slightly sweet, slightly spicy rub on them, and are also accompanied by a vinegar based sauce (If you're not a fan of vinegar based sauce like me, they happily put the mild or spicy sauce on the side). I'm slightly torn with the flavor overall though. Again, tender rib meat is always what you're after, and the rub was good, but I really didn't taste any smokey flavor, which is kinda a big deal for me. The actual meat on the rib was a good serving, and after two or three bones, you'll start to slow down from filling up. So i'm teetering somewhere on a 3.5 for Tipsy pig. The pig does share the inside of a shell station, and there's a small seating area carved out for people up for a sit down meal, and they do offer more than ribs (although that's all I got). Customer service is nice, both the tipsy and shell crew, and that may be what bumps my review up to a 4 Overall, while i've had better, Tipsy pig has a solid product, and hopefully when I try them a second time, i'll be able to bump them to a five star.

I saw this in the nearby on the Yelp mobile app and if something nearby is featured in Lawrenceville, that means it has to be good since there aren't a lot of good places so I bookmarked it and filed it into the back of my mind. After going to a nice 3 dollar signs place and not being pleased with it, we ended up leaving before getting entrees, and thought where to next? My cousin is also a Yelper and she had this filed in the back of her mind also so we decided to adventure. We're thinking "anything will be better than this" =P Now this place is inside a gas station so we're not expecting much, but we want to understand why a place inside a random gas station has almost 5 stars on Yelp! We walked in and the staff there is immediately accommodating and welcoming. They have that southern charm that southern BBQ seems to compliment. The staff provided some great recommendations and really sold us on getting their smoked bbq chicken. Along with that, we got the pulled pork, mac and cheese, and baked beans. Drinks wise, since it is inside a Shell gas station, we got diet soda beverages from the gas station. The pulled pork was awesome! My only regret is not putting enough bbq sauce and being too full to be able to get another order to go! The bbq chicken was also awesome. It definitely had the smoked flavor. Mac and cheese I had no complaints. I liked it a lot. Same with the Baked Beans. My cousin seemed to really enjoy those. I will definitely come back here and try their homestyle biscuits for breakfast. They sound so good! And you can get one with pulled pork. YES, PLEASE.

Yes this place is inside of a Shell gas station but don't let that discourage you. They provide friendly, helpful service and treat their customers well. It was our first time there and we saw lots of repeat customers that the staff called by name so that was a good sign. We ordered ribs, chicken, smoked wings and a red neck Cuban sandwich (pulled pork, ham, mustard and pickles on Cuban bread) with Mac and cheese, baked beans and coleslaw. The meat was tender and the portions very generous. The Mac and cheese wasn't my favorite but I loved the coleslaw and beans. The sauce was vinegar based and tangy yet sweet. We'll definitely be back...and we plan to try their breakfast biscuits tomorrow!

Not bad for being in a gas station. The chicken was super moist and tender (including the breast which almost melted in my mouth). Pulled pork was tender, mac and cheese was like my grandma's and the bbq beans seemed doctored up but was ok from a can. While the atmosphere is nothing to write about meaning the tables/chairs/counter isn't a priority as far investment the two ladies in the front were very attentive and friendly.

  • Arkodeb M.

Get the ribs. You won't be disappointed. Very unique chicken wings in that they flash fry them after smoking. Just delicious. The lemonade is also nice and tangy which I like. On top of the food, which was delicious, the staff were some of the nicest, friendliest people. They immediately greeted us and were very helpful in helping my family decide on what to get. Forget the fact that this place is inside a gas station. This is the true definition of Southern hospitality at its finest.

I wanted some kick ass BBQ and decided to try this place out since since it has some pretty good reviews. It's literally in the Shell gas station... Anyways, I really hate to disappoint anyone but this isn't something that I would go out of my way to come back. The people are wonderful and friendly but I'm not a fan of their BBQ sauce... I ordered the brisket and half chicken with mac & cheese, collards and baked beans. The collards were ok, nothing significant in it. The brisket and the chicken(Chicken was cold) were also ok until I dipped my meat into the BBQ sauce. Now I got two kind, spicy and mild and both were obviously vinegar based sauce... but OMG, it was soooooo much vinegar that my ass was cringing with every bite. Seriously... The baked beans were also doused with so much vinegar that I just couldn't eat it. My palate is so traumatized and quite distraught right now...

Best BBQ I've had in Gwinnett. If it was close to other great BBQ spots, I'd probably rate it a 3. Ribs were delicious. Greens were too salty. Potato salad...it was too much of something, not sure what but I wasn't a fan. Baked beans were delicious! They were out of mac n cheese so I'll be back for that. I would pass on the cobbler next time, it was average. I loved they cinnamon in it but the mixture of dough to peaches just wasn't right for me. Will definitely go back but next time will get it to go. The gas station employee (not BBQ employee) bleaching everything in sight kinda ruined the meal. The BBQ employees themselves were friendly, Helpful and attentive. Would love to see this as a stand alone restaurant.

Great BBQ! Don't let the location put you off! The pork is yummy and my husband loves the Cuban. Brunswick stew is tasty and the cobbler is also a treat.

A small hole in the wall that is a true hidden gem of Georgia. Excellent BBQ and soul food that gets my seal of approval. Wonderful smoky BBQ and delicious sides make this Tipsy Pig BBQ a real treat for the die hard BBQ and soul food fan. Will definitely be back. Seating is plentiful but finding it can be difficult. It is inside of the shell gas station. 5 stars.

Never did I ever think that some of the best BBQ in the Atlanta Metro area would be in a Gas station! Got 2 2-meat plates and smoked wings so I could get a taste of everything. And boy did I taste it! I drove 45 minutes home and my food was still warm and DELICIOUS! Mac and cheese not too wet, collard greens smoky and meaty, fries dropped to order and cole slaw dressed very well. Anytime I'm in the area I know where I'm gonna go eat! Oh! And the staff-super awesome!

  • DJ C.

Pick a meat... You can't go wrong! Chicken is smokey fall off the bone tender and still manages to keep its moisture. Kudos for that as I well know this is not easy. Pork has great flavor, also very tender. It was a touch dry, but it made a great sandwich with the sauce. Still have to come back for ribs and I can't wait!

Tipsey Pig in Lilburn. Get a Texas Memphis NC and Hot - aka the Allison Special. Their ribs are to die for, too. Every side is amazing, and I mean every side. But try the potato salad, cole slaw, and fries! Yes, even the fries are great. Best part about Tipsey - they are open 7d a week. 7d! Some que places aren't open 5d a week! Ribs, 7d a week. Think about that for a moment. Go ahead, we'll be here when you get back! Tired or pork (gasp?!?) - get some chicken. They smoke wings and drop fry them to a crispy finish, before tossing in your choice of bbq or hot sauce. Or get their version of a kicking chicken sandwich - it's amazing on Texas Toast! Their Arnold Palmers (1/2 sweet tea 1/2 lemonade) are to die for. So order up a plate or rack, grab a lottery ticket at the register, and belly up to the bar for some of the best que you'll have in GA. Enjoy some conversation w/ the staff, and drop them a big 'ol tip on the way out the door. Oh, and make plans on when you're coming back. Because, you WILL be back...

Great Bar-b-Que. I live near here and eat their pulled pork every chance I get. The sides are a little lacking, but I go back time and time again for the MEAT!!!

  • Setentayseis M.

Good kinda cold ribs not the best but good enough ...not a lot of variety in sauces (2) but falling out of the bone and tender smokey meat the chicken was good nice smokey flavored real juicy. The best was the red neck Ruben filled with pulled pork n ham on one of the most delicious breads nice n toasty the baked beans were also excellent the coleslaw was average the iced tea was good but the lemonade was too sweet for my taste. Weird location for the "restaurant"inside the shell gas station but if i ever craved ribs or a red neck ruben i will come back. The service is excellent n they answer any questions u might have bout the food.

Wow, that's about all I can say! I read a couple of the lower rated reviews, and what can I say--one loved the ribs (yeh) but ordered the wrong sides. Fuss about the sides? It's about the 'cue man. And the other one just doesn't know good BBQ. Seriously! I've had BBQ from some weird places. From real holes in the wall to really nice places but never, never have I sat down and eaten 'cue in a convenience store. I was in town visiting my new grandson and they recommended this place, so we all loaded up and headed down there. They were very busy for a Saturday afternoon and short handed, but very apologetic. The ONLY reason I can't give it a full 5 stars is that the ribs were only slightly warm, almost cool. Could have been warmer. But they were absolutely delicious. Moist, perfect smoke ring, and just the right amount of 'bite'. I loved the mild sauce, they needed only a touch. The stew was different but outstanding. Some might consider it watery because it ketchup or tomato paste based like most. It does have slivers of tomatoes & corn, and etc. but mostly has big chunks of 'cue meat! Great. I also had the mac & cheese. Loved it, not your typical 'out of a box' mac & cheese. Only problem was the portion was so large I couldn't finish it. My son and DIL both had the pulled pork sammies; big portions and delicious! I'll be back every time I'm in town!

Have to be honest, I didn't go here for the first year they were in business because they're, well, in a gas station. Finally, after hearing the third or fourth person tell me they had the best BBQ around, I went in and gave them a shot. It is first rate BBQ and I felt pretty silly for not giving them a shot before. Just the right amount of smoke in the meat so you can go with or without sauce. They have a hot and a Carolina - I like to mix both. I go there probably twice a month and have never been disappointed.

  • Paul R.

Ok. This was a nice trip to this place. I didn't see where they smoked the meat at but when I got out of my truck, I smelled the aroma. So far so good. I went into the place and looked at the menu then ordered what I wanted which was a full rack of ribs and 2 sides. My bill came up to $33.00 for what I ordered. The sides doesn't come with your meal, it's ala carte. OK so that's one star off already. I get home to eat and heated it up. The sides were decent which I had baked beans and the mac and cheese. Now some people may not like the fact to already have sauce on their meat. Myself personally I can eat that either way so that saved them from losing another star with me. The meat itself I must say tasted pretty good, but the price for what I spent for my meal I wasn't satisfied with. Will I return one day?? Possibly. The food was acceptable but however I couldn't justify the price that I've spent which was $33 for a full rack and 2 pint sizes of sides. I could understand if they gave you 2 small sides that came with your meal but had you to pay the price difference for the upgrade in size. I could have definitely understood that better. So my rating is 3.5

Nothing interesting or exceptional of Tipsy Pig. Okay Bbq and decent portions. There is no reason you would want to dine in here unless you've always wanted to know what it's like to eat in a gas station convince store. The good news is you can get some scratchers and a 40 of Malt liquor with your food. This place is elevated in stature because of the lack of bbq options in Gwinnett county.

Wow, what a hidden gem this place is. Tucked into the side of a gas station but don't be deceived by the unassuming facade, the BBQ is incredible. I've eaten everything on the menu and never been disappointed. I think their best offering is Ribs, always huge and tender, well-trimmed with great flavor that doesn't need sauce. Try this place!

Just ordered smoked wings they were ok but for $5.75 3 wings is average...got two rib plates $12.50 a piece 4 ribs (robbery it's small drippings) 2 pieces of white bread fresh out the sunbeam wrapper (gross not even toasted or buttered), baked beans (awful they shouldn't doctor and mess up Bush's baked beans), and potato salad( nastiest stuff ever a bunch of mustard and raw potatoes)needless to say I threw most of it out to the curb will never go there again stick to Shanes Rib Shack

I went to the Tipsy Pig yesterday for dinner because of all the good reviews. There is no ambiance to this place and like others say, its actually in a gas station where you actually take your bill to the gas attendant to pay. In other words, its not a sit-down restaurant. Despite this, the person taking my order was very friendly and helpful. I got the RedNeck Cuban (To Go) based on other reviews. When she made it, I was worried because it did not look like anything special and I didn't think I was going to like it. When I got home, it was a different story. The RedNeck cuban was delicious and way more food than I thought it would be. I could barely finish it. I got a side of Brunswick stew which was good but nothing to rave about. The pork is definitely the star of the show here. I will definitely be going back to try some of their other items.

Went here with a friend for lunch based on some good recommendations and Yelp reviews. Don't let the location fool you. The foof was incredible. I got the ribs, pulled pork, mac and cheese and greens. All very good. They actually pull the pork to order. You need to try this place, you won't be disappointed.

Meh.. Stopped by to try this place out due to the great reviews. Had a pulled pork plate with Brunswick stew and Cole slaw. Just mediocre in my opinion. Not bad, just not great. No real flavor to the pork at all. Employees seemed less than thrilled to be there, but were not unpleasant by any means. Overall, just an "OK" experience.

Had the ribs and they were fall of the bone delicious! First I thought no I'm not getting BBQ out of She'll Gas Station then I said well you have tried expensive looking joints and been fooled because the food was horrible, so just maybe thus is good. Oh, boy I'm glad I stopped because this my Q spot now when not doing it myself. ...

I've eaten here several times and enjoy it! Located into a convenience store, but don't be fooled. The BQ is cooked outside on a smoker tastes GREAT! Tables are both inside and outside, plus a counter for dining, too.

BBQ done right. Wish they had brisket because they know how to cook. Everything is good. $8-10 gets you a pork plate with two side. And they hook it up. It's like a brain sized HEAP of good pulled pork. Beans are awesome. Stew is fantastic. And the Mac and cheese is daaaaaaang good. Nothing but good things to say about this little bbq spot. I've eaten all over the south, and this ones right down the street.

My first visit went well the only issue was the Mac and cheese was lacking CHEESE. Seriously? My second visit wasn't the best. Not only were they out of a lot of menu items but the service was disappointing. I understand it's in a gas station but that's no reason to act miserable.

  • Amanda D.

Average BBQ. Their Memphis sauce was good, but when I tried this place, they had barely any sides and not much to choose from. They said they were wiped out with groups earlier in the day. Food is good, but the collard greens are 5 stars!!

  • Whitney L.

Soo yummy, and very friendly! Good value for portion size also! But I have to deduct one star because I am a barbecue sauce LOVER (I am obsessed with it and want to lay down in a small bathtub of sauce when I eat BBQ) but when you order food to go, you are given teeeeeny tiny little containers of sauce, and have to pay for extra ones. However, if you eat in the store, each table has an endless supply of barbecue sauce. I want my sauce, dang it! If you have issues with hole in the wall places, or the fact that this is in a Shell gas station, check that hoity-toity at the door and get over yaself. There isn't better BBQ in the area, and you're missing out! I noticed a sign last night that they are now offering their food at that disaster off of 78 Hwy known as The Pub, and I just hope that place doesn't do damage to their name or their delicious food. Good luck to ya there. Or hell, maybe they can make The Pub somewhere worth visiting. Either way, a gas pump is a better atmosphere than going over to that restaurant.

Wow. Yes, it's in a gas station, but it'll blow you away. If you like BBQ, you owe it to yourself to stop here. Ordered the pulled pork sandwich and a cup of Brunswick stew. The pulled pork is probably the best I've tasted around--better than the chain stores (Texas Roadhouse and Shanes). It tastes so fresh and has such a delicious smoky flavor...if I wasn't full already, I'd go order another one! The only thing I didn't like was that the barbecue was cold, but I zapped it in the microwave for 30 seconds and it was all good. Spicy BBQ sauce was excellent--not too hot, just enough heat to enjoy, slightly sweet but not overpowering. In other words, just right. As far as the Brunswick stew goes, I didn't like it as much as Shane's, but here it is fresh: diced tomatoes, corn, pulled pork are all as fresh as can be. It was just a little too watery for my taste. I'm used to a thick, rich stew. But it was good. Atmosphere: The gas station is sectioned off and the Tipsy Pig takes up about half. There is plenty of counter space to eat and several tables inside and out. I didn't look at the health score, but everything looked clean and well-maintained. Staff was very friendly. Taking the ticket up to the other cashier was a little weird, but not difficult. Pay for it with cash or card, show the Tipsy Pig person your credit card receipt, and hand them their green receipt back. No problem. In short, I will DEFINITELY be back next time I need a barbecue fix.

I had to take 1 star away just because I wish it was in a better location instead of inside the gas station. The eating inside space is extremely limited. Now, regarding the food, it was excellent! Great taste! Great sauces! The place was busy too, which is an indication that the locals enjoy it! It was my first time, and I will be back! Slightly pricey, but not too bad. Extremely friendly staff.

I feel so welcomed every time I walk up to the counter at this cute little place. The small staff is incredibly friendly and personal. For a barbecue place nestled inside a corner Shell station in my halfway-suburban hometown, the food is anti-stereotypically fantastic. The pulled pork is clean-cut and perfectly juicy with a first-rate selection of sauces in which you can taste the authenticity. I recommend the Regular sauce - it's a great blend of sweet and tangy. The French fries are ordinary crinkle-cuts, but are not lacking in taste. There is a typical selection of sides, all of which taste delicious and traditional, like green beans and mashed potatoes. The story behind this place is touching and inspiring: the owner had a wild dream of owning a barbecue place, so he actually did it. He started from scratch with his wife. The sole proprietorship grew in popularity to become a hometown favorite in the Lawrenceville/Lilburn/Snellville area. The dream became a reality. Overall, this place is the perfect little lunch pass-through. Stop in for friendly service and some great barbecue.

Decent BBQ, but the ribs are much shorter then they were back in the day and the price is the same. Good BBQ for a spot in the gas station, also good customer service.

Impeccable service and food. Family owned this is the local favorite. Don't judge a book by it's cover, this place is a true gem!

  • Kat G.

My favorite BBQ joint. Don't underestimate it because it's in the Shell station or you'll be missing some of the best ribs and pulled pork around. Their Memphis style BBQ sandwich with hot sauce is my favorite and if you're there on a day they smoke ribs you're in for a treat. With spring coming it's the perfect place to grab some great sandwiches, sweet tea, and head for the nearest park!

  • Kent K.

Yes, this BBQ place is inside a Shell gas station, and yes, it doesn't look like much from the outside BUT...WOW!...the people at Tipsy Pig make some of the best BBQ in the area! The pulled pork sandwich on Texas toast = delicious! The beans = just perfect! The cobblers = amazing! Add all those great flavors to a restaurant that is sparkling clean and staff that are super friendly and professional, and what do you get? 5 Stars hands down.

  • Greg G.

Everything is good but the smoked chicken wings are the best anywhere. They are not drumlets but instead large whole wings. Smoked then flash fried for crispiness. The ribs are to die for as well. Steve and his staff bust tail to make you happy.

Don't let this place being in a gas station cause any skepticism. Very clean (100% on health dept score), food is amazing, staff is friendly and prices are reasonable. Personal favorites are the 'redneck Cuban', and the ribs. Plus some great sides to go along with it! It's great to see the small family business succeed! A must go! Enjoy!

This place is always a nice experience. Great service and conversation. And, the BBQ is awesome. You should try the redneck sandwich but the chicken and ribs are great. What a nice predictable surprise. We have been back several times.

Delicious BBQ close to home! So Happy! I have been meaning to Give their BBQ a try for awhile, and today was the day - they did not disappoint. The pulled pork was delicious, the baked beans were incredible, and very nice service overall! This family will be back for more - especially to try the ribs.

WOW! I almost kept driving. But, trusted the yelp reviews and went in. Really fantastic pulled pork, great sauce and hands down the best Mac and cheese that I've ever eaten. Going back today for more. Really nice people, gave us samples of everything we were interested in. They told us they will be opening a more traditional location soon. I'm 100% sure that it's going to be a massive success.

My husband and I tried several items for lunch after having a long walk in Stone Mountain Park. The followings are what we really enjoyed. Pulled pork- moist, tender with great flavor. Smoked chicken wings- one of the best smoked wings!!! Crispy outside, juicy inside. Coarse ground black pepper sprinkled over the wings made it perfect. Ribs- we ordered 1/2 ribs for to-go. I reheated the ribs in the oven exactly the way the owner taught me....they came out soooo moist, flavorful, as if they just came out of the pit!! We enjoyed them with/without sauces. Sauces- I love the fact that both mild and hot sauces do not contain too much sugar (I'm not a big fan of those sweet BBQ sauce I encounter in other places.) We definitely would go back to this place even it's an hour drive away from home.

    (5)
  • Ryan M.

Every time I go there I want to get the ribs but their pork is just too good to pass up! Great texture and the perfect moisture. The baked beans are some of the best I've ever had with a nice thick, sweet sauce on them.

  • Cast M.

Love this place, this little joint is down the street from my house hidden in a shell gas station, you wouldn't believe they had amazing BBQ until you've tried it and that's just what I did. Got their pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw and their BBQ ribs and was pleasantly suprised, never thought gas station BBQ would be this good! But it is actually a legit franchise and definately worth a try if you love BBQ.

Nice to find a good BBQ place near my house. I will travel for good Q, but now I do not have to go nearly as far. So far, I have sampled the ribs, pork, and chicken. The ribs were not the best in town, but they were not bad. I will give the ribs another chance at some point. The pork was great and has been every time I have been there. It was tender, smokey, and very flavorful, as good as you will find anywhere in Atlanta. The chicken was probably the best I have ever found at a BBQ joint. It was perfectly smoked and not dried out. The hot sauce is quite good too. As for sides, the brunswick stew is good and the collards are great. This is a solid player on the Atlanta BBQ scene. Based on my one experience, I would not put their ribs in the same class as those from Fox Bros, The Swallow, BBQ1, Cue, Community, Bone Lick, or Heirloom, but they were close and some pigs are greater than others -- so I will give the ribs another chance at a later date. It's obvious a lot of reviewers are raving about them. The pork and chicken are as good as you will find anywhere in the metro.

We actually moved down the road from this place so I could stop by on my way home. I usually get a half rack and some mac and cheese for the house and a cuban to eat in the car. Love it!

Well I guess I should have read the reviews that stated that this place was located inside a Gas Station. I spent a good 10 minutes looking for a free standing building. Well I wasn't blown away by the location but I was in the mood for some BBQ. Got some take out & brought it back to my job. Have to say it wasn't bad, had the ribs and pulled pork. it's decent BBQ in this area is hard to come by. I'll have to try it again to sample what else they have on the Menu.

YES, YES, YES!!!!!! Some AWESOME BBQ from a Shell station! OK, now that I'm in Hog Heaven, lets commence with the foods review! Pulled Pork! FANTASTIC! Very lean yet moist and flavorful with ample smoke throughout the meat! No offending Pig Matter in this pork; it is simply done right and well worth many returns! Mac and Cheese! HOMEMADE taste done perfectly! Yes, this Mac & Cheese is the real homemade deal using standard Elbow Macaroni and plenty of real cheeeese (thank God it wasn't the cheap cheese sauce stuff); baked just right and needing---wait-for-it---NO added salt to taste great (WhooHoo! TWO BIG THUMBS UP FOR THIS)! BBQ Beans are very good and a bit sweet with added onion and who-knows-what secret ingredients in the mix. Sauces: Hot and Mild where just right for a bit of burn or sweetness depending on personal preference (I liked them both by themselves or mixed together). Peach Cobbler: Hooo-doggy this is good stuff! Yes, diets be damned with this clearly homemade goodness! Plenty of big, sweet peach slices mixed into a well balanced sauce topped with Grandmotherly prepared and baked dough topping! Hand me the pan next time I come in cuz I want to die in a just right sugar infused sweet coma from this stuff! Service couldn't of been any nicer and friendlier as the owner clearly loves what he does! Of different note: one has to take the ticket to the gas station attendant for payment and then return it stamped to the counter of the Tipsy Pig; not a big issue mind you, just different and one that the Tipsy Pig owner can explain readily and friendly enough. Yes, Gwinnett county, the Great Yelp reviews are spot on for this place, and I can't wait to return and try their ribs on Friday or a Saturday only! Open Mon-Sat 11:00AM - 8:00PM for BBQ and serving "Country Style Breakfast Biscuits" Mon-Fri from 6:00AM to 10:30AM 5 Stars a shining!

I was in the area and mentioned to someone that I really had a taste for BBQ. The Tipsy Pig is where I was told to go. I was warned that it was in a gas station, but told that the ribs were great and that's what I wanted and it was Saturday. I wasn't told that the sides were awesome. I had mac & cheese, collards and baked beans. I got the small size because my experience in GA has been if the ribs are good the sides aren't. Not the case. The ribs were nice and meaty and oh so tender and flavorful. All three sides were excellent. They had great flavor! Just perfect. Nothing could have made anything better. Before hearing of this place I had just about decided to trek into Atlanta for Fox Bros. I'm glad I didn't.

Nice BBQ - I bought a pound and 1/4 of pulled pork. Not too fatty. Good smoky taste. Generic buns, canned (?) green beans and enough fries to make everyone happy. BBQ I can eat until *a real place* opens.

Little is more Awesome than feasting on succulent pork tenderlets from a BBQ in a Gas Station! The Tipsy Pig is a Fantastic mom'n'pop Barbecuery, truly a Southern phenomenon. I consider BBQ the Taco of the South: cheap, plentiful and tons of it. The pulled pork sandwiches at Tipsy Pig are $4.25 and HUGE. They arrive sauceless, so you can add North Carolina inspired BBQ sauce (hot or mild) to the tender, flab-free heaps of Porky Goodness as you go. I enjoyed my first Brunswick Stew, which is super flavorful and fresh at the Tipsy Pig; a medley of pork and fresh vegetables. The Mac and Cheese is dense, tender and al-dente at the same time - excellent. Not velveeta style, more like cheddar with a crusty top. The Tipsy Pig is a Gem of an Eatery. Worth a field trip. Outstanding and totally cultural. Two of us feasted for less than $15. Go and Feed, Pork Enthusiasts!

Man this place has been going down hill here lately. Came in one morning had to wait on biscuits becasue the kids running it know dont know how to. Runs out of coleslaw, runs out of the redneck cuban bread and this is all before 6pm. We don't go no where near as much. Last six times something is out or they are super slow or they burned something. The quality has really gone down since the kids started working there, Food is good when they have it.

Now this place is attached to a gas station....don't let that scare you away from the best BBQ in Lawrenceville!! Staff is awesome and friendly. Get the pulled pork sandwich Memphis style!!

  • Robert S.

Googled Gwinnett County BBQ... Found this place and saw some good reviews. Went out of my way to try it and man am I glad I did! Very traditional, simple, down to earth, smack your mama good BBQ! The meat is slow smoked and disintegrates in your mouth. Fork optional. I tried the Memphis pulled pork sandwich. The slaw isn't sweet the way I like, but it was still amazing. The pork by itself was also amazing. The owners let us try 1 rib each. We came back twice in a week for full racks! I highly recommend this place. Don't let the location fool you. It's BBQ done right.

Super delicious authentic Southern barbecue. The pulled pork was moist and flavorful. The potato salad made me think I was in mama's kitchen. I am real picky when it comes to ribs, and theirs were huge, meaty and delicious. This place is destined to become my regular BBQ spot.

I was extremely excited to find this place. I had been craving some yummy bbq but all the places were far away. It's hard to find a good bbq joint these days. The pulled pork sandwich was delicious, needed a little bit more bbq sauce. I found it to be a little pricey. I still recommend it to all the lilburn residents when you need a bbq fix :)

Have all my dreams come true? Now, I can finally get my BBQ fix at a Shell. I have always said that for a Southern state Georgia has been a little weak in the gas station cuisine department. In Mississippi, you can get great fried chicken...In Louisiana, you can get unbelievable Po Boys and such...In Texas, you can find the best tacos...In Alabama, you can find some of the most classic soul food around. Now, I hope to see this trend develop in Georgia and I don't mean that plastic f'''n food you find at the QT....I want our current food culture to become great in this state, and it starts at the bottom....yes the gas station BBQ. Just start off by saying that all the smokin' occurs overnight offsite with a Southern Pride Smoker...this is the type of smoker found in many top barbecue restos throughout the South....most cost between $12,000-$30,000. So yes, the barrel smokers out front are just for looks and old fashioned advertising. At first glance, I was a little nervous at ordering, but the limited weekday menu made it that much easier....no brisket, ribs on Friday and Saturday only...ok ok...I will take one of everything else. My order/ the Menu--Pulled Pork Sandwich, Chopped Chicken Sandwich, Brunswick Stew, Potato Salad, Cole Slaw, and Baked Beans. Good to Very Good...not great. The owner recommends topping the pork sandwich with his hot BBQ sauce and cole slaw...I have to say this Carolina/Tennessee way is pretty good. The size of the sandwich is average, but he pulls the pork to order which I love...less drying out. The chicken is just chicken and never really does it for me anyways. The sides are classic and average with the potato salad being the highlight. I have never approved of so many steam tables and warmers, but this guy does have it going on. I would put the pork sandwich in my top 5 and everything else one step above normal. You would think this place was sponsored by f'''n Budlight with them controlling 90% of the decorations, but it is a gas station serving BBQ. I wish we had something similar to Tipsy Pig at least one station off each exit...this way I could get my proper daily caloric intake of smoked meat and redneck juice. Lilburn is lucky to have this dedicated pork puller in their hood. 3.6 stars Chef Invisible--Out

Wow, I'm really impressed with the 'cue here at Tipsy's. Don't be scared to pull up to this Shell gas station for some of the best Georgia style BBQ in the area. Pulled pork is literally melt in your mouth good. I haven't had a pork sandwich like that in a long time. The pork is pulled rather than chopped and sits between a super soft bun with some pickles. It's awesome. Got some slaw, which was perfect and a side of stew. The stew was really good, but not as spicy as I personally like. It was very smoky and delicious though, consistency was perfect. This place is worth a trip into the Gwinnett wastelands for this gem of a BBQ spot. Really hope to see a full blown restaurant from these guys one day. There are some tables inside but I imagine it's mostly take-out. Where else can you get great BBQ, a lottery ticket, a 12 pack of beer, and toilet paper? Some may say that this place has it all.

  • Howie M.

Tried this the other day because the other BBQ places near lawrenceville haven't met my expectations. The pork is pulled which isn't my favorite but the quality was good. My wife liked the pulled style and their sauce which is a little sweet. We got carry out so I chopped my portion. The stew was the BEST I've had around this area (hometown, spiced right, uncle bettys). Lots of chunky components and perfect smoky flavor. The only side I tried was collards and they were good - I prefer them cooked a little longer but they were still good. I'd definitely recommend them, service and quality was GREAT. Next time I'll try the other sides.

WOW!! So glad that I took the advice of fellow "Yelpers" and checked this place out last weekend!! What a treat! It doesn't look like much when you walk in and you may ask yourself "where the heck is the kichen?" But don't dispair because this place is fresh and is the real BBQ deal!! I am a girl from South Texas I love Texas BBQ and have been strained to find a place that brings those flavors from home to my belly, but let me say that I have found that place! Granted it is better to order out and take your feast elsewhere becaus there isn't much ambiance but no matter, it is still worth it! I had the pulled pork sandwich, served with the BBQ Sauce on the side. This is EVERYTHING you look for in a pulled pork sandwich, juicy succulent meat, not dry and not a mouth full of fat and grease! Just tender juicy pork meat, seasoned just right so that you are enjoying the flavor of the meat. They have 2 BBQ sauces one is mild and the other is hot, I enjoyed both very much! I ordered cole slaw and mac and cheese. Cole Slaw was right on point, a little sweet not a bunch of crap like Celery Seeds just good fresh cole slaw. Mac and Cheese was homeade and AWESOME!! Could have made a meal from that!!! My boyfriend ordered the half rack of ribs and MAN was that good too!! A little bark on the outside of the ribs, just the right smokey flavor and tenderness to the ribs that made them just delicious!! I hear the ribs are only available on friday and Saturday so I am glad we went on a "Rib day". I honestly can't wait to go back and try more delicious goodness off that menu!! Don't think twice about it, Tipsy Pig is a MUST if you are in the area!!!

Ok clearly a 4.5 star pulled pork sandwich now. They have finally got a good grasp on their product. The pork is very good but a little greasy. The sides still are not stellar but I think if the work on them they could be great. Still love the fact they are in a gas station. There business has really picked up last time I went I had to wait in line! Go now and enjoy good Q. Tell em their sides need work, the potato salad first and foremost it just is not that good.

Brunswick Stew was good. It was a surprisingly good pulled pork sandwich for a BBQ shop in a gas station. From what I understand it is hit or miss there but when they hit they are good. Next I will try the ribs.

Once inside the building you don't feel like you are in a gas station but rather a BBQ cafe. I had the pulled pork sandwich with 1/3 lb meat, all meat and no fat at all. My husband had the red neck cuban which is like a traditional cuban with pulled pork. It was very good. The brunswick stew was great with just a little kick. The french fries were nice and crisp. They are now open m-s 6am to 8pm, closed sundays.
