This is one of the restaurants LaGrange that never gets old. They always have great food and offer a great eating environment. If you enjoy their lunch, try their egg sandwiches for breakfast.. You won't regret it.

Simple and to the point....hotdogs and hamburgers. No frills, no fries, no shakes. Must work for them since they've been around 30+ years. Good place to stop and grab a quick bite.

The perfect place to grab a quick bite. It's a small place with a friendly atmosphere. My family and I were waited on immediately and our order was done in few minutes. The food was cheap but the portion were small. I wouldn't recommend if you are on near death of starvation.

Really good local hotdog place since 1920. Locally owned and operated. I highly recommend the spicy tomato relish. Secret recipe made in house. Tasty and not too hot. Never had anything similar making this an unique experience.

Came in for lunch on a Tues afternoon around 1pm. Most of the bar stools surrounding the store were occupied but Getting a seat wasn't bad. Service was quick and friendly. Food was cheap and delicious.

It's been a little bit since I've visited this place, but I went a number of times while visiting my (at the time) girlfriend's family, who lived in LaGrange. The prices are much lower than what you'll find at other places, and the portions are small, but the food is excellent. Luckily the low prices allow you to order more food to compensate for the small portions. This place has TONS of charm, as they do everything they can to keep the 1920s atmosphere alive, and they do a pretty good job of it. It's usually pretty busy, and it's a little farther into town than a place you'd try "just passing through," but if you aren't in a hurry, and have a little time to walk and/or drive around the downtown area, Charlie Joseph's is definitely worth a visit.

The fact the Bull St location doesn't have all beef dogs was my deal breaker .. Had the chicken salad sandwich was ok.. Atmosphere was pretty cool with a history feel though so they got an extra star for that alone

I drove down down from Columbus, Ga to explore La Grange and a lady on the street told us we had to eat here. The sign out front boast of the "worlds best hamburgers and hot dogs". I usually try and stick to somewhat healthy outings, but with a claim like that why not? They were starting their lunch rush, but we managed some seating at the bar in the back corner of the small dinning area. I could see everything that was happening behind the counter. Based on my visit I feel like this was the kind of place that was at one point quality food, but I'm going to assume they've taken shortcuts over the years and are banking on the nostalgia of the atmosphere and local recognition to keep people coming back. I ordered a burger. I could see that instead of using they're grill for the purpose of grilling patties and toasting bread, they used a "heatomatic" thing similar to a George Foreman Grill...the flat stove grill was used as counter space! My burger didn't even have lettuce or tomato in it and it was mediocre at best. I assumed wrong when i thought i'd get fries as a side option, instead i was offered lays chips that i could by at any gas station. I ordered what i thought was fresh lemonade i got lame soft drink pink lemonade. I could of made this meal for the same price with a trip to the walmart freezer section. Maybe i ordered wrong, but don't go hear if you're looking for amazing culinary skills or fresh ingredients.

Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, clowns and synchronized swimmers: If Steven Spielberg were to do a movie on southern hospitality, small town charm, and include the encyclopedia Britannica's definition on what a delicious hot dog is, he could only film it at Charlie Joseph's. Get yourself a slaw dog, double cheeseburger, and get your kids name written in ketchup. I could be laid up with arthritis in one knee, pneumonia of my left lung, stubbed my pinky toe, and someone telling me I couldn't read good - but if you just utter the name Charlie Joseph's I'll smile like the first time I bit into their cheeseburger. Do yourself a favor and breathe in Americana at this fine, decade's trusted establishment. You make my heart warm Charlie Joseph's.

Just to update after seeing some of the posts: This place got 5 stars from me for memories, Americana, and cheap decent food. If you are looking for a $24 gourmet, wagyu beef burger, cooked over hardwood charcoal, served on a fresh-baked sponge bread bun made every morning in-house and served with home made cured and apple wood smoked bacon.....go elsewhere. This is small town, drive in, B movie, staple eats with the best service from great people you will ever have...'nuff said.

Since 1920, 5th generation and still family owned and operated. Excellent chili and slaw dogs! Known for their lemon sours.

Small shop serving hotdogs and hamburgers in various combinations. Nothing is over $4 Chili-cheese hamburger is great. Saw lots of folks ordering the relish dogs (sweet or spicy). If you are in the Lagrange area, at lunch time and craving a good dog or burger, then this is the place. They do lots of takeout at the walkup window. Enter the shop on either side of the walkup for the bar seating or along the wall at small tables with two chairs.

A friend and I were hanging out in the area on a Saturday afternoon, and I was in the mood for a burger. Not knowing the area at all, I opened my trusty Yelp app and came across Charlie Joseph's. The four "5-star" reviews, including one from a fellow Elite Yelper, encouraged us to check it out. With its outdoor signage boasting "Worlds Best Hot Dogs Hamburgers," my friend and I excitedly walked into the little restaurant. The shop was PACKED. We were lucky to find two empty seats at the counter by the entrance, so we sat ourselves down immediately. Our server, who turned out to be the restaurant owner's son, Cody, saw us right away and asked us if he could get our drink order. I pretty much have to have a soda when I have a burger, so I ordered a Diet Coke from the fountain machine. For those who prefer it, they also serve Cokes in glass bottles. Then, we glanced up at the menu on the wall and were shocked. Why? The prices of the menu items were astonishing. $2.25 for a hot dog? $2.50 for a cheeseburger? The most expensive item on the menu was the largest size for Brunswick Stew, which was a mere $5.75. Amazing. I decided to order a Cheeseburger w/Chili (requested no onions), and my friend got the Cheeseburger. Although I normally like to get fries with my burger, they didn't offer fries on their menu. When I asked Cody about it, he said they have chips but not fries. Boo. I also asked if they had bacon (I was in the mood for a bacon cheeseburger!), but the answer was no. Apparently this place is keeping their tradition of selling burgers, hot dogs, etc. the way they did when they opened in 1920. Just a few minutes after ordering, out came our food. * Cheeseburger w/Chili ($2.75) - Perhaps I got a little too excited about the cheap price, not even considering the fact that perhaps it's cheap for a reason. The cheeseburger was small, as in smaller than a cheeseburger from McDonald's. And I hate to say it because the restaurant was so cute, but the burger was certainly nowhere NEAR the "best" that I've ever had. It was a decent burger, but I didn't think the beef patty was anything special, and there was such a thin layer of chili in the burger that I almost couldn't even tell it was in it. It tasted fine, but I felt that I could have made it myself on a George Foreman grill, and I was still hungry after eating one. Both my friend and I scarfed our little burgers down in less than 5 minutes, and we were still hungry. Not wanting to be a piggy, I told my friend that we should split a Cheese Dog w/Chili and ordered one. Similar to the burgers, the hot dog was served super fast. * Cheese Dog w/Chili ($2.75) - Like the burgers, the hot dog was also small. Okay, maybe not SMALL, but regular size that you can buy from the grocery store. The hot dog was topped with a thin layer of chili (again, could barely taste it), cheese, and some ketchup (no onions, per my request). We cut it in half and consumed each half in maybe three bites. Again, this tasted fine, but it wasn't something that I couldn't easily make myself. Overall, Charlie Joseph's gets 3 stars for its "OK," cheap eats, quick and friendly service, and cute atmosphere. This tiny restaurant makes you feel like you went back in time, and I really wanted to love it. Unfortunately, the food just didn't "WOW" me or my friend. Luckily for them, they seem to have many regulars and the place was still super busy as we were leaving. People were ordering from outside as well since they have a pick-up window and limited dining space. I probably won't return and wouldn't recommend the place to anyone looking for an amazing burger or hot dog in the area, but it is a super adorable little place and I wish them the best.
