Well this is it folks the original Chick-fil-A location. Here is where you can get the normal CFA options plus and extended menu that even includes a burger. I will say that the CFA items they serve are the best you are likely to encounter, the actual HQ for the Truett empire is very close to this location. It is a sit down restaurant and the wait staff all wear buttons saying how long they have worked there. The lowest number I saw on a button was like 14 years. Very friendly and very attentive.

Dan Cathay complains about blight on the south side of Atlanta .. Stopped here at 8:10 tonight. Went to the restroom then washed my hands .. There were no towels .. Went to the sink outside the restroom ...no towels ... Then came to sit with my wife .. She had gone to the lady's room .. No towels .. The floor in both is filthy and while the people are nice so far, the counter has crumbs all over it. This is the original dwarf house and misses the sense of pride which we experience in many chick fil a's in the South.

As if I couldn't have fallen in love with my gf anymore, she brings me here. I absolutely LOVE Chick-fil-A. To dine at the ORIGINAL home of cfa on my way back to airport was a real treat. We opted to have a sit down meal as we could do sit down service anywhere back home. Somehow, we both had in mind that our sit down service would take longer. Instead, service was quick & food came flying out of the kitchen & onto our table in no time. Our meal was fantastic. We stuck with the Chicken plate & had fun with the sides. Broccoli & cheese. Mac & cheese. And (drum roll please). Sweet potato souffle. They put brown sugar in with their sweet potato. Talk about a party in my mouth. They do sweet potato perfectly! Of course, we also got the waffle fries too. Dining here was the perfect farewell to my weekend visit. Til the day we meet again, Dwarf House. iLy.

This is the original Chick-fil-a location. Great selection on the menu. Not the greatest at handling large groups (20+ people) later in the evening, which is understandable. Excellent place and full of history. Don't forget to enter through the dwarf door and exit going backwards through it.

This one was pretty awesome in my opinion. As soon as I walk in they're ready to take my order. They even know their customers by their name!!!!!

This is the original Chick-fil-a-location. I expected more of a museum setting, like the original KFC in Corbin, KY. This is just your standard Chick-Fil-a restaurant, in a rundown part of town. Don't go out of your way to visit.

I've heard about the Dwarf House, but didn't know what to expect. Let's just say that I was pleasantly surprised by what I encountered. I am from the north and didn't discover Chick Fil a until I joined the military and 15 years later I'm still hooked. So I was in Hapeville for work and wanted some chick fil a, but didn't realize that this was the Mecca. I love the diner part and just had to try the hot brown, if you like white gravy, cheese, chicken, potatoes and bacon, then this is your heaven. I wish I could've tried everything that's not normally on a chain menu, but I had the mile and a half walk back to the hotel in the 90 degree heat to endure. Luckily we were given some lemonade to go. If you are a avid chick fil a fan like myself, this is a must visit!

I am sure that I do not have to tell anyone on Yelp that CUSTOMER SERVICE is just as important as a stores quality of food or whatever service they are offering to the public. After growing up in Hapeville and coming to this location since the 1980's. I thought this location was always going to be my Publix of Chicken Houses. But today someone destroyed my perfect track record after 30 + years! I am still 38 hot over here in Hapeville right now! Not only were the fries cold but after we each asked for specific condiments like BBQ sauce, Ketchup and Mayo and looking in the bag and saying that it wasn't enough for all three meals. We were told "Yes it is. I gave you two of everything that you asked for per meal!". Now that was an issue for me because I don't use Mayo , so as I was trying to explain to this young lady that I don't need Mayo when she actually sighed as if we were wasting her time or getting on her nerves. All I could do is think "This heifer!" as I sat in my co-workers car. If I had been driving then we might still be there because the condiment bag looked a little light for 24 packets of condiments. Any who. Once we got back to the office we all noticed that we had cold waffle fries, only two packets of ketchup, two packets of Mayo, two packets of BBQ sauce and two packets of Honey BBQ sauce. Now the sandwiches were warm and the beverages were right but cold/hard fries and no condiments totally messes up a meal for me. I could have gotten us three Hot Dog combos from Sam's today for $1.50 and have added three pretzels for a fraction of the cost of these $20 worth of meals. Not only that, but the cashier according to the receipt is Florence. Well Ms. Florence, whom was standing there with her arms folded as if we needed to hurry along might need to get a job over at McDonald's cause we can't have this nonsense at Chick-fil-A. And my co-worker said she didn't say "It was my pleasure serving you!", did she? The answer is NO. "No she damn didn't!". SMH! WoooooSaaaaaa! And as I am typing this my two co-workers just came over to say their sandwiches were dry. OMG. I have never had a dry sandwich from CFA either. MINUS one Star for that.

Excellent customer service and as always great food. Drive thru is very efficient even thought they are always packed.

The main attraction of course is this is Truett Cathy's original Dwarf House. This has morphed into what we now know as Chick-fil-A. It is open 24 hours and serves a full diner menu along with a service counter and drive thru with the regular Chick-fil-a menu. The Dwarf House is the only Chick-fil-a where you will find a hamburger, and a damn good one I might add. For me it's all about the Hot Brown - it is delicious. While not the only Dwarf House, this is the original and worth a visit if you are down near the airport.

I really like this place... something about it reminds me of being a kid. Maybe it is just the fact that the name is The Dwarf House. Anyway, the food is good and nice local folks work there. It is a nice "hit the spot" deal at any time of day when you need to curb that little thing called hunger.

I've dined in three times, and each time I've kinda regretted it. I'm in love with the thought of the original CFA, but I have this fantasy notion of what it should be. More classic diner Americana than the dirty fast food service that it is. Bottom line--dining in is not a great experience, but my high marks in this review are for the drive thru service. As far as Chick-Fil-A's go, this is the best drive thru. 24-hr service! (enough said, right?) They're always friendly, always quick, and I've never had an order messed up. I know if I'm working downtown, or at Turner Field, that I can swing down to Hapeville and get in & out fairly quick. Being wedged between I-85 and I-75 in Hapeville, this location offers great access whether to or from the airport in your travels.

Love Chick-Fil-A, but the service at this location sucks. The girl at the window was not the normal overly friendly Chick-Fil-A employee. She was too busy giggling with her coworker and gave me the wrong order. I ordered chicken nuggets and got a chicken sandwich instead. She also forgot to give me a straw.

THEY DON'T SERVE BISCUITS BEFORE 4:30 A.M.! That was a huge disappointment. Good food, obviously nothing even close to being healthy in any way. For some odd reason I found the wall contraption of snow white's dwarves very amusing. Order the chicken and waffles.

Stopped by for a late dinner on the way from the airport. It's kinda a must... I mean, it's the original Chik-Fil-A, why wouldn't you. And it's super convenient location between downtown Atlanta and the airport helps. Got me some chicken and waffles. Food was, well, diner quality. Nothing to write home about, but no complaints either! The thing that stood out was how homely and nice the staff was.

With due apologies for their politics, I was sort of intrigued by a chance to visit the genesis of Chick-Fil-A. This location is more than a fast-food joint, it's a cheery little old-school diner with extremely kind service. And perhaps most importantly, it's just delicious. My spicy chicken biscuit was fresh and extremely tasty (pepper jack cheese is unnecessary-- eschew it). And my hash browns, while they could have been crispier, tasted more like real fresh potatoes than any other hash browns I have ever eaten in my life. A startlingly good place for breakfast, and near the airport. It was even worth getting lost on my way to the airport, as I did next.

I'm used to friendly cashiers at Chick-Fil-A. This place was horrible today. Four people at the counter in their own worlds. They didn't even look up to acknowledge me. I had to ask, "do I order here ?" I was being sincere because I couldn't believe no one was trying to take my order. At every other Chick-Fil-A, the cashiers rush to keep things flowing, right? After the lax order-taking process, they took my name but never called it when my food was ready. Just "ma'am." How soon we forget. I was their only customer! They stuck the cool wrap in one bag and the fries in another. I asked for one large bag to combine it and make it easier for my travels. They pretended to be annoyed. Actually, I think they were serious.

When I heard Dwarf House, I started to have visions of dwarfs working there and I wasn't sure if the house was dwarf sized or if the former was true. I saw many positive reviews for the place on the Yelp and didn't want reviewers to spoil what the true deal was on the dwarf house so before I could read any further, we stopped there before going through downtown Atlanta. We walked in and there are two separate sections: one with the traditional Chick Fil A menu and another that is a diner set up. Since we've been to the fast food area tons of time, we sat at the counter and started chatting with Tricia, who was taking care of all the guests there. She instantly took a liking to us and gave us the scoop on the menu, including a sample of their white chicken chili complete with tortilla stripes and sour cream (very tasty but I did not go to the dwarf house for soup!) While perusing this fabulous site. I kept seeing people mention an item called the Hot Brown. They have the regular items you can find on any Chick Fil A menu and then some including BLT's, mac n cheese, sweet potato souffle and a number of breakfast items. But for some reason the item Hot Brown stuck in my head. From my understanding, it was a hot sandwich covered in gravy but she soon corrected me, a sandwich it was not. Try a casserole of mashed potatoes, cheese, chicken bits, bacon and toast. Casserole? Cheese? Potatoes? Mashed potatoes????? Can you hear my head exploding from excitement? Yep, I was sold right then and there even if it meant a coronary afterwards. The plan was to have salad or some kind of vegetable during the day but c'mon, could you refuse a casserole made of all the delicious ingredients listed above? I swore I was only going to have a few bites but of course that didn't happen. As soon as I got one bite with all of the items in one, I knew I was toast (pun intended) and it wouldn't be long before it was finished. Hell, I even finished the fried cheese stuck to the plate. It was that amazing.....and that worth it! Would I be willing to eat here every day if I lived in the area? Hell no, only because I don't want a coronary any time soon. We were sure to leave from the little red dwarf door in the front of the restaurant, ahhh, to live like a dwarf!

The original Dwarf House in Hapeville is sort of a big deal. I mean, not only is it a proper Chick-fil-A with a double drive thru, but it's also a sit down restaurant with a Truett's style menu. You in the mood for breakfast at 11pm? No problem, just have a seat in the dining area and experience a genuine diner experience with Chick-fil-A prices. It's open late (but closed on Sundays) and the prices are great. It's also a cool piece of Atlanta restaurant history. You should check this off your list of places to go in the city.

I grew up in Hapeville so you already know I'm here at this Chick-FIl-A all the time. I've been here numerous times, ever since I was in Elementary School so I've had plenty of experience here. I've got to admit, I've had excellent and way better service before elsewhere, but there's never really a time where I've been upset about anything. 9 times out of 10 they get my order correct, but there have been times when they've forgotten an item or two when I was at the drive-thru. The food here is great! I am such a big fan of Chick-FIl-A that I recommend everything! Chick-Fil-A's chicken is perfecto. They do have lunch items available early, you just have to wait a little bit of a time for them to make it. They sometimes have holiday celebrations or other celebrations like save your receipt day and get the same items you've ordered for free on certain days, or kids eat free day, or dress up like a cow and get a free meal day. They also mail you a free chicken sandwich coupon for your birthday, how sweet huh? So be on the lookout! This Chick-Fil-A is open 24/6! Of course Sunday's are an off day, but they're open until Sunday morning at 4 AM if I'm not mistaken. Either way, their hours are a +++ for me! I believe this is the only place that has their business hours like this. So where do I go at 3 AM when I'm hungry? Waffle house! No, I'm just kidding, of course my favorite eat chicken place :D

One of my favorite things about visiting Atlanta is the Chick-fil-a Dwarf House. It's southern diner meats Chick-fila; where the grits come with cheese and the service comes with a 'My pleasure'. It's always hard for me to choose between the normal Chick-fil-a menu and the Dwarf House original menu. Last time we were there, I ordered the chicken and cornbread meal with mac n cheese. It was literally the best thing ever. If you're in Atlanta for fun, or even if you've got a layover (CFA DH is near the airport), visit this little place...you won't regret it!

The original... Friendly service. Less than a half mile or so from 75. Typical Chic-fil-a food. Good. You have the option to sit on the full-service side and be waited on or go sit in an area after you have picked up your food from the counter. Always good. Always fun to visit the original.

I lovee Chick-Fil-A. In fact, whenever I used to come home from college, my mother would greet me at the airport with a bag of Chick-Fil-A goodness. With that said, I've always wanted to check out the original Hapeville location and finally got the chance to before picking my brother up from the airport. It was almost 9pm when I walked into this diner-like Chick-Fil-A. There were two people at the counter moseying around and took their time taking my order. I ordered the Hot Brown by recommendation of many friends. It took about 6 minutes for them to make the Hot Brown and strolled around awkwardly while waiting for my food. The Hot Brown itself had a lot of potential to be delicious, but it had WAY too much cheese. And it was just really salty. You can't help but feel sick afterwards. The general atmosphere of Hapeville wasn't what I'm used to. From the looks of it, Hapeville is a really quite, small, modest working town. People drive really slowly on a two-lane road next to the railroad. And the service at Chick-Fil-A was noticably slower than in the suburbs. Now at least I can say I've been to the original location, but I honestly wouldn't go there again. I'm perfectly content with frequenting the Chick-Fil-A's in Alpharetta that are clean, fast and professional.

Loved stopping in here! What a neat place! I've always wanted to go to Chick-fil-A and eat a burger. I finally did! I also had the Hot Brown. And it was tasty too!!! Amazing menu for when consider where you're at. MUST SEE!!!!!

Ok, Im sold! Tonight we visited the original Chick-Fil-A (A.K.A. Dwarf House). First of all I was totally impressed with the whole open-counter and old school cafe look. The place was clean and the food was awesome! I enjoyed everything about my visit! Our server was very friendly and prompt and everyone we talked to was the same! We definitely will make this our night spot! One pleasant surprise was that this place serves beef! We had been going to the Landmark Cafe but this will be our new spot!

Staff is really friendly and you get everything an average chick-fil-a serves but MORE. Table service, salad with your chick-fil-a sandwich and waffle fries, grits, sweet potato pie. A must visit!

  • Nikki N.

Thought it would be fun to see. Customer service average when usually customer service is excellent at other chick fil a. Bathrooms and floor dirty. Food options different. Dwarf burger not good. Chicken good chick file a standard. If you come after 9 (we got there 915) they don't guarantee items. Corn bread was out...for a 24 hour diner thought that was ridiculous.

Wow! super cool place to be in where this awesome chain started. Friendly service and super good food! HUGE portions! One off the bucket list! Love Chick-Fil A! btw, they serve beef here! ssshh don't tell the Cows!

  • Brooke S.

This was literally the worst ChickFilA I've had in my entire life. I was SO disappointed that I had to Google this location to make sure it was actually affiliated with the chain. The chicken was so slimy and soggy that I almost gagged...I've never in my days had such bad ChickFilA. Never in my life would I return to this location. And honestly, it has made me question the quality of the company itself. I threw my order out asap.

  • Laura N.

The hot brown was absolutely disgusting; the creamy part tasted like lard. Barf. Stick to the Chick-fil-A classics, and you can't go wrong. The fried okra and sweet potato souffle were also good. The mac n cheese was average. By the way, this is the original Chick-fil-A restaurant. Very cool.

    (4)
  • Jay R.

The "original" Chick-fil-A. You have to try it if you're in the Atlanta area or near the airport. The choices "off-menu" you cannot find anywhere but at a Dwarf house. If you are not worried about calories try the hot-brown, warm, gooey, bacon, gravy, chicken!

    (3)
  • Lyn P.

The original Chick-fil-A location is kitschy cool. There's a dwarf door and this totally retro diorama thing where the dwarves (from Snow White) are being chased around. So that being said, it's not just the kitsch that should draw you here. In addition to your regular menu, there is a sit down section with table service and a whole different menu. SCORE! Most people will tell you to get the Hot Brown - yes, that kind of a hot brown but made with chicken and with white gravy so not really a Hot Brown but it's good so who cares. And for breakfast, they serve (wait for it)... CHICKEN AND WAFFLES! Not to mention the extra pie options (fried peach pie, hello!) So yeah, I dig this location and Chick-fil-A in general so I make it a point to come here when I am in the area.

What a neat monument / restaurant to visit! Advertised as one of the first Chick-Fil-A's opened, I got to see a glimpse of how it all began. IT was neat seeing a Chick-Fil-A menu that didn't just have chicken only, but included burgers as well! Also, it includes a sit-in diner where you can order from the menu and have it served before you (make sure you bring a couple of bucks for tip!) The food service is just as good as all other Chick-Fil-A's I've been to. On this visit, I got the Chicken Chargrilled Club which contained a slice of tomato, lettuce, bacon, and cheese on top of a grilled piece of chicken. It was awesome! Melted right in the mouth alongside the cheese.

Yes, I can say that I've eaten at the original Dwarf House. That's really all I wanted to do because other than the novelty, I don't really have a need or desire to dine here again. It's cool to say you did and it's unlike any other Chick-fil-A experience (including the modern Dwarf Houses). It's old, but still maintained. The menu goes beyond the basic chicken sandwich/nuggets/biscuit. Despite pleas from the Eat Mor Chikin cows, they serve beef here... although I don't recommend getting a burger at a place famous for chicken sandwiches. I would imagine lots of airline employees come here and they're open 24 hours a day. Closed on Sunday, of course. #Yelp365 - 16/365

Beyond subpar service! I just left the Original Dwarf House on a Saturday at 3 PM and they have no lemonade! If you ever purchased a gallon of lemonade, the price is MUCH higher than a gallon of iced tea. That's a sin. So when I pull up to the service window I asked why and was told "Someone didn't do their job." Really? So I ask if they're offering a voucher/coupon to get a lemonade in the future and I'm told, "No." I warned her that I would be going to the world wide web to do a review. So she throws a complimentary cookie in my bag...lol. No apologies...nothing. Then I get home to enjoy my meal to discover [1] no straw for my beverage and [2] pickles on the chicken sandwich I requested to be "plain." The original Dwarf House needs to get it together-they should be the model for all their other restaurant locations. I live in the Hapeville area and this is quite disappointing.

I grew up in Atlanta but never made it to the dwarf house. This place is a treat! A real throwback! I don't pass out 4 or 5 star ratings lightly but given the history, meaning and significance of the original Chick Fil A, it deserves it! I ate in the "diner" side of the Dwarf House and could picture my grandfather sitting at the counter having coffee and visiting with the staff. He would have loved this place. The coffee was terrific....not the frilly stuff we have become used to though. Just good solid black coffee! I ordered the Breakfast Omelet with chicken and it was so good. Just a simple cheese omelet with Chick Fil A chicken chopped up and rolled inside. Yum! Of course, you gotta have a biscuit with that which I did. I ordered hash browns instead of grits. My inability to eat grits reveals the fact that I was really born in California, not Georgia. I just can't eat those things! Was it the best breakfast I have ever had? Nope. Was it even the best diner food I've ever had? Not a chance. However, the food was solidly good and the experience was sort of like a rite of passage. If nostalgia matters to you, be sure to stop by the next time you are in Hapeville, GA or have a little time before your flight out of ATL. You won't be disappointed.

Visit the Original Chick-fil-A Dwarf house in Hapeville, GA as the old restaurant has been in business since 1946 and they stay open 24/6, closed on Sunday! This day is reserved for the Lord! On the other 6 days this place is jammin as people from all over the country stop in for chicken for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Wow. This was the first ever Chick-Fil-A. Pretty impressive place. First off, its a sit down diner. With a counter/bar to eat at. Open kitchen with Short Order type cooks. I ordered a Hot Brown with Fries and a Home MAde Cherry Coke. The Hot Brown is like a Chicken Casserole. Very very tasty. Im told it's there #1 seller. I can see why. As par for the course, service is amazing. No fast food place really makes you feel as at home as a Chick-Fil-A and this place is no different. The waitresses were super friendly, checked on my multiple times, made a Cherry Coke with Maraschino Cherries. Very nice. Portion was nice. Food was hot and super tasty. Cooked to order. Price was good and I really had a great experience there. Anytime, I'm nearby I will make certain to stop by. It is very close to the Airport. So, if you have time swing by, it's worth it.

I HEART THE SOUTH! On my visit to Hotlanta I made it a point to visit the original ChickFilA. Yes, ever. I think my tourist attitude showed and the guests waiting in front of us struck up a conversation with us giving us some background info. Built when the Disney dwarves were popular, there is a wall that actually has the seven dwarves moving along the mounted picture frame. The server we had let us know that when the Cathys' opened up, the city tried to tax them double... they refused saying something about they could go ahead and throw a rock through the window instead? They weren't going to pay? Maybe I misheard. I was too busy eating at that point. About the food: it's normal diner food. EXCEPT! Wait, we are at ChickFilA. And I had a server. And grits. And biscuits and gravy. And a hamburger. And cheese smothered fries (which I dipped the cheese in everything after I figured out how great it was). Yeah, exactly! Am I the only one who finds this fascinating? Probably. The food itself is a 3.5 but the novelty of having both a walk up order counter and a sit down diner at my favorite fast food restaurant is awesome to me. Plus, there is an actual tiny door that is fully operational! I kid you not, after I was done dorking out with my photos... an actual employee used it as his entrance and exit to do an errand instead of the main door. So back to my "hearting" the south, the family we were talking to in the beginning of this review came by our table as we were leaving... let us know that they knew the Cathys personally and even gave us a little eat mor chicken cow. I guess they must have picked up our check then. They paid for our bill. Southron hospitality. Made my tourist experience that much more memorable. I may have eaten at some $$$ locations during my visit to the ATL, but this place was by far my favorite.

I had no idea this existed, let alone that it was the very first Chick Fil A. We were famished coming home from the airport late at night and ended up here. Trippy place, super cheap, and yes, I walked through the dwarf door. BONUS for twenty four/six food near the airport! (No Sundays, of course.) I was in awe at how much food they give you for $3.5o in the kid's meal. Two strips, fries, lemonade and an ice cream cone. Dang... Painfully good coconut cake. The moving seven dwarfs wall installation is fascinating. Minus a star for freakin' MSG, artificial color/flavors and additives in EVERYTHING. Really, everything...I know, fast food, but somehow thought they were better than the other guys. Cheers~

A sitdown Chick Fil A, what more could you ask for?? Great food and service, typical for Chick Fil A. This is our second visit for breakfast but don't know about the other meals

This is the best Chick-fil-a. The service is impeccable and the menu lengthy. Sit at the bar and just enjoy being among the regulars while drinking a fantastic cup of joe. This should be on the "Best of Atlanta" tour - its that awesome. If you love Chick-fil-a, stop in on your way to/from the airport for delicious food.

The cool stuff about this building, its history, and its characters still stand; this review serves as purely a review of Chick-fil-a's new banana pudding milkshake. If you're like me, you shy away from most banana-flavored mass produced anything for fear that it will taste like that nasty cough syrup you had as a kid. Thankfully, this is not true for the banana pudding milkshake, which does have a nice "real banana flavor." However, unlike the peach milkshake which I love for it's chunks of peach goodness, the banana flavor in this one does seem to be achieved via syrup. The banana pudding flavor is enhanced by the chunks of vanilla wafers distributed through the shake. While they maintained a nice crispiness, some of the chunks were too big to fit through the straw. Practical execution issues aside, it's a tasty treat.

There are reasons to visit the nearly original location of the Chick-fil-A chain (the original location was actually across the street), but the neighborhood is not one of them. A friend of ours in Atlanta, on hearing we were headed to visit, told us to stick to the main streets. Why? So that we did not get shot. And we thought we lived in a bad part of town (not Atlanta, but still). Assuming, you do not get shot, and avoid the crowds - at most any time of day - which appear to come mostly from the nearby airport, generally regarded by a number of measures to be the busiest in the country (and by some, in the world). Nonetheless, dodge the bullets and stop in. It may be worth it. Not getting shot, mind you. Worth the visit. Step to the right and you have a mostly traditional CFA franchise. Order at the counter, get your food and eat at a table (or take out). There are two major differences. The first is that you can order items that are not usually on the menu - such as burgers. The second is the taste of those items, even that of the pride and joy, the Chick-fil-A sandwich. More on that in a minute. Step to the left, and you are in a sit-down restaurant, complete with table service. It is like a diner, friendly southern hospitality and all (and you have the option of the same expanded menu). I am fairly certain that the same expanded menu is available to both sides, but there is no table service on the "franchise" side. What is most impressive is, quite simply, the taste of the chicken. Years ago, when I tasted the basic CFA sandwich for the first time, was the amazing taste of this simple and delightful, treat. Other companies offered then, and more now offer still, a chicken sandwich - but none came close to the mingling of flavors like they had. Even though the original Dwarf House says that all locations in the system make the sandwiches the same throughout the system, they really do not. The chicken portion is larger and the taste is different here, like the days of old. What I cannot say is if it is the cooking method, the proximity to a corporate delivery or just the love they put into it, but the sandwich is better - and our server admitted that many people do say the sandwiches there taste better. I just wish I knew why. The local versions will simply no longer be the same. Better than every other chicken sandwich (including local CFA versions)? Less healthy? Full of MSG, or some other component that other, nobler states have passed on? Quite possibly. But definitely not the same. At least we have our free cows to remember the moment.

I'm a diehard Chick-Fil-A fan and had the chance to stop by. I didn't see a written menu at the tables or anything indicating this is a traditional diner. You can get just about anything a diner serves, including the famous chicken sandwich. I had mine with an egg on top with a side of hashbrowns. Great job overall. BTW, the wait staff all had 20+ years of service and really cared about the patrons.

Like many have said before me, this is the start of it all, and I imagine that's one of the reason they have an officer directing traffic in and out of this particular chick fil a, unlike other locations. Much like other dwarf houses, you can order more than typical chick fil a staples so if you want a burger, the cows aren't going to come get you. It's split seating wise for chick fil a to the right and the dwarf house orders to the left. Also, in the warmer months they'll have a woman out by the drive thru window with a card reader who will take your order for you. I'm not certain if that was because the drive thru speaker was broken or if that was a special added touch for the original Chick fil a, but it's interesting to say the least. The only other thing different at this chick fil a is they have side items never seen at other ones (broccoli and cheese for example), so there's always a few things you should keep your eyes open.

This is a cute little fast-food joint. They have a little rounded gnome or elf door and a neat moving type of mural or something hanging that has the 7 dwarfs with a castle in the background. Employees were fine. Just like any other employee or works at a fast food place really....nothing outstanding. Food was great as always that every Chick-fil-A restaurant does. Nice little 50's stool-type diner thing going on at the front counter. Nothing really outstanding in my opinion. I would definitely go here again though. Perfect place to take the folks for a quick bite to eat or someone who is really into CFA.

Diana S told me about this place. I got lucky because I was in Atlanta two times over a 2 month period for both business and personal reasons, right after hearing about this place. It's really convenient as it's off of the main highway that leads you out of the airport towards downtown. It's split into full service and self service. I got something to go the first time I visited from the self service side. Service was REALLY friendly. The second time (I was at ATL for an three hour layover) my friend and I had to wait 10 minutes for a table to free up. There is also counter seating. I'm not sure if I would love Chickfila as much if I had access to one on a regular basis. I got a plate with eggs, hash browns, chicken, and biscuits with honey on the side. Delicious. I also tried the grilled ham and cheese sandwich... it was good, but unfortunately I did not have enough stomach space to handle it. I loved the coconut ice box pie. Coffee had free refills. They were really busy during the Saturday brunch time so service was a little slow, but the waitress was nice. On another visit I tried the fried peach pie... the bag it came in had glorious grease stains. I ended up bringing this home, nuking it, and eating it with a side of vanilla bean ice cream. There is a 'dwarf door' which you can exit from the inside...

I grew up eating at this original Dwarf House! My Granny and I went once a week if not more. I still go with friends often since I still live close by. Watching the train go by outside and the dwarfs marching along the back wall are my fondest memories besides the apple pie a-la-mode! Best chicken sandwich and waffle fries around! Try your CFA sandwich with a grilled bun, grilled onions and cheddar cheese then add mayo n ketchup! Can't beat it!

So are all Chick-Fil-As closed on Sunday? No. The Dwarf Houses are open until 5am on Sunday morning, and then re-opens the next day! I won't give the mystery of The Dwarf House away to non-Atlanta folk, but there are many items on the menu here that you cannot find at the newer Chick-fil-A restaurants. Mwahahahaa! This Dwarf House has the tiny red door at the front that drunks, funny people and children alike all enter through. It's really a good laugh! You can sit at the bar and chat up the bar girl or sit at a booth and watch the goings on in the parking lot. There's a lot of coming and going in the evening due to its proximity to America's (current) largest airport. Service has always been excellent and with that warm Georgia hospitality that I unfortunately expect everywhere. :-(

Now this is the Chic-fil-a I know and love. Forget the silly "eat more chicken" ads because when you're at a Dwarf House, all bets are off. Everything from the classic chicken sandwiches to burgers to God's gift to world - HOT BROWNS - can be found on this menu. It's also not fast food. You sit, a server takes your order, you wait for it to be cooked. It does come out quickly, but it's not sitting under a heat lamp for hours waiting for you. Prices are the same if you average it all out, and it's classic Chick-fil-a at it's best. The neat thing about this location, though, is that it's the original. Yup, it all started here, folks. Everything from that tiny red door (which I still fit through, by the way...) to a diner look and feel to those silly paper hats rest inside these hallowed walls. Don't come here and get what you can get at any location around the country. Come here and get things you can't get elsewhere, like the Hot Brown or a salad with Chick-fil-a's House dressing, all served ONLY at Dwarf House locations which, of course, are only in the Atlanta area. Of course they are still closed on Sunday, but you can come any other day of the week and satisfy those cravings in the oldest Chick-Fil-A establishment there is. And seriously, get the Hot Brown. The artery clogging is only temporary, promise...

Come here for the nostalgia, the ironic burgers and steak options, and the fact that it's opened 24 hours every day except Sunday. Come here for the sit-down waiter service and the sake of visiting the original Chik-fil-A that started it all. Don't come here expecting the quality of food and chicken menu options to be different than any other Chik-fil-A in the country.

Very cool place, especially if you are already a fan of Chick-Fil-A and want to see one that is totally different. I decided to go the full-service route (on a barstool since I was alone on business), and am glad I did. One review suggested the regular chicken sandwich was bigger & better than other Chick-Fil-A restaurants, but I disagree. It tasted exactly the same as the ones in Texas, and I actually think the chicken was smaller here. So don't order the standard chicken sandwich if you go there -- get one of the unique items. I wasn't able to find a menu of the unique items online (and the lady on the phone didn't seem interested in giving me a comprehensive list over the phone), so maybe this list will help some of you that are wondering just HOW different the full-service menu is: Lunch/Dinner menu (in addition to normal stuff): One-piece plate, two-piece plate, chargrilled one-piece plate, chargrilled two-piece plate, steak plate, Hot Brown (other reviews describe this), hamburger plate, midnight sandwich (ham & cheese), ham/bacon lettuce tomato sandwich, giant burger, steak sandwich, dwarf burger, grilled cheese sandwich, kids meal. Vegetables: fried okra, fried peas, collard greens, mashed potatoes, sweet potato souffle, cornbread, mac & cheese, kernel corn, green beans, broccoli & cheese. Also note they serve "straight" fries if you ask for them instead of the traditional waffle fries (I only saw waffle fries on their menu sign but was able to order straight fries). Breakfast (served all day): Eggs & toast & grits (bacon, ham, or sausage optional), steak & eggs, Chick-Fil-A chicken & eggs, chicken egg & cheese bagel, waffle, cinnamon cluster, etc. And they have individual slices of pies - some fried and some regular. I had the lemon and it was great (tart but that's how I like it). I tried the regular chicken sandwich (same as everywhere), dwarf burger (small but perfect when sampling other things too), straight fries (pretty standard fries - medium size sticks -- fatter than other fast food fries), and a small slice of lemon pie (the most enjoyable thing I ordered, which is how it's supposed to work). I'd love to go back someday and try some of the other unusual items on the menu -- including breakfast! The nice server at the bar gave me 3 little stuffed cow toys as souvenirs for my 3 young kids back home -- but only when I asked (like other reviews have said). Thanks to the other reviewers for the tips to ask for straight fries and the little cow souvenirs -- I wouldn't have known about either of those otherwise.

So I was leaving the airport and feeling hungry. A quick search for options revealed the original Chick-Fil-A was nearby. I figured I would give it a shot because I think Chick-Fil-A is a better than average fast food and how could I pass up on checking out the original location. It looks like a weird hybrid between an old diner and a regular Chick-Fil-A location. They menu was different than a regular Chick-Fil-A, but the food tasted the same. So I enjoyed my food, but didn't think it was too special of an experience over a regular location.

I don't get it. The don't get the theme. What does dwarves have to do with it? I go there to "eat mor chikin". Lol. Anyways, the few times I have visited the restaurant it was incredibly busy, but I received my food in less than 5 min. The place is always clean. The bathroom is always well stocked and clean. The custmer service is okay. Nothin spectacular, but its fasfood, all you can ask for is cleanliness.

More exciting than Traders of the Aardvark! More stimulating than The Temple of Dumb! Three intrepid travelers go in search of the holiest of holies, not The Ark of the Covenant, not The Holy Grail, but The Eat Mor Chikin Tee Shirt. And along the way, they find much more than a clever marketing gimmick. As they enter this temple of all things fried, they are immediately confronted by a herd of hungry consumers. (Arrrrgh, if I'd only brought my whip!) Undaunted, our fearless trio make their way to the lunch counter. With a steely glare, my 11 year old niece challenges the hardened waitperson to do her worse! In other words, she'll have the chicken sandwich. Oh, and make that with waffle fries and a vanilla shake. Spicy chicken sandwiches, fries and drinks for the uncle and Dad, make a hearty repast for all. Once sated, our heroes begin their search for the much coveted Cow Shirt. With table tops in disarray, overturned vending machines and distraught patrons abounding, the quest bears no fruit. There's not a Cow Shirt to be had. But it seems all the destruction and mayhem were quite unecessary. Much to the surprised delight of our young heroine, gifts are bestowed. The wonderful staff laden the niece with a treasure trove of cow memorabilia. And so, our merry band departs much happier, much wiser and of course, much fuller. The End. (For my niece)

I love Chick-fil-A. It's practically the only fast food restaurant that I will eat on a consistent basis. Since I was visiting my relatives in Atlanta, I wanted to visit the original Chick-fil-A restaurant. The restaurant looks like a diner with a small red door. Walking in, you can decide if you want the current Chick-fil-A setup or diner style service. Hint: if you want the Chick-fil-A combo meals, go to the fast food side. The diner side does not do combos. If your order the Chick-fil-A Sandwich Platter you get fries and salad. No drink. I avoided the chicken sandwich and opted for other menu items that I can't get at my local Chick-fil-A. The menu had steak and hamburgers. i ended up ordering the steak sandwich, but I wish I tried out the Hot Brown Platter. The steak sandwich was not that great. Live and learn. At least my waffle fries still tasted great with polynesian sauce. Overall, I can scratch the Dwarf House off my bucket list. I love Chick-fil-A.

Wow, Chick-Fil-A. What a great place especially this one. I remember when I was maybe 6 and I walked through the dwarf door. I tried to get my grandparents to do it too. My grandma said no, but my grandpa was crawling through the door. Good times.

I stopped by at morning opening of the store. The best i can say is the staff was not prepared. I arrived at 6:00 am and it took 19 minutes to be served. There were others that it took the same. They didn't have the food prep ready. :-( I like chick fil a and if you never been to the dwarf house, I would recommend it.

A couple of months ago someone at work mentioned something called a "Dwarf House" and that it was somehow affiliated with Chick Fil-A. What?! This had to be made up! But Wikipedia and Google promptly confirmed that indeed, Chick Fil-A has its origins in this so-called "Dwarf House" in Hapeville, Georgia. The Dwarf House is still a full service diner open 24/6 - like all Chick Fil-A restaurants, closed on Sundays. And everything I see on the internet about this place indicates to me that I ABSOLUTELY MUST GO. I did this morning - it's about a mile off of 75 south of the city. From the front, the little red dwarf door looked sort of like it was locked, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was not. My friend and I walked through it with glee. We pointed and giggled at the moving wall display of seven dwarfs exiting their house and trotting off to the mines. We looked at the photographs of the Dwarf House through the years. We read the story of its founding in the captions. My friend and I seemed to be the only ones delighting in the dwarfiness, however. The rest of the clientele appeared to be regulars or locals for whom any dwarf-related novelty had long since worn off. They also seemed to leer at us, though my friend noticed this more than I did. Aside from the splashes of German cottage decor, the place looks like the love child of a Chick Fil-A and a down-home diner. It's full service, with booths, barstools, and an overhead dimly illuminated menu with plastic removable lettering. But the colors are decidedly Chick Fil-A, and the place still displays those abhorrent advertisements involving cows that know how to write, but not spell. These cow advertisements, by the way, are my least favorite major advertising campaign that has lasted more than a year, EVER. But don't get me started on that. We immediately took our seats at a not-yet wiped down booth, the only one available at 10:14 on a Saturday morning. I was a bit antsy because the menu said that they were going to stop serving biscuits at 10:30. A busboy came by first to clear the previous occupants' dishes. A few minutes later, someone came to take our drink orders. After asking for water, I warned this person that I fully intended to order a biscuit, and she said that would not be a problem. In fact, she said I had forty minutes left, so perhaps the menu is incorrect as to the no more biscuit time? I didn't care, as long as I got mine. I ordered an egg and cheese biscuit, and hash browns with cheese and onions. The hash browns came out first, and without the onions. The biscuit came out seconds later. My friend ordered the chick fil-a chicken breakfast, which consists of two biscuits, grits, eggs any style, and a boneless piece of battered chicken. The wait time was only minutes. I am not shy about grease, and the food was delightful. The biscuit was slightly crumbly but very moist - Chick Fil-a does biscuits a little differently, and not everyone likes them. I happen to love them. The scrambled egg was not quite as processed and perfectly squared as it is when it comes from a fast-food joint. The cheese was, of course, an American cheese single. Mmmmmm. The hash browns were crispy, all golden brown and dripping in oil, just how I like them. After paying our bill of $11, we exited through the little door again. I stopped to play with the round door knocker on the other side, knocking several times. No answer. I did not have the opportunity to try either a fried apple pie or the "ice box pie" in lemon, chocolate, or coconut. But that's next on my list. So Chick Fil-A managed to trick me into feeling like I went to this cute local diner for breakfast today, when really I just patronized another fast food giant. Nonetheless, I am definitely going back to Dwarf House at every available opportunity.

A friend of mine visiting from California and worshipper of Chik Fil-A almost had a conniption when I told him where the original Chik Fil-A was. Under protest, the man made me drive down to Hapeville just to show him the Chik Fil-A Dwarf House in all its glory. There's not really much more I can say about this place other than it's more of a diner than it is your standard Chik Fil-A fast food stop. As others have said before, you can even order a burger right out from underneath those traitorous cows noses. Cows, not very bright I tell you. Don't forget to check out the pies as well. For you out-of-towners passing through, it's not too far off the I-75 Hapeville exit. Why the potentially offensive name "Dwarf House?" Well, there's a small door through which kids and, uh, little people can enter. Or idiots from California intent on embarrassing you with their zeal for Chik Fil-A.

This was the most horrible experience I've had at a Chic-fil-a restaurant. I absolutely love Chic-fil-a, but at this location the fries were old, cold, and not well salted. The chicken sandwich also had an almost bitter aftertaste, as if they hadn't changed or filtered their oil in a while.

Four stars because its the Mecca of the Chic-fil-a world. Pretty cool to have the first Chic-fil-a in your back yard. I actually found this place on accident, but had heard of it before so we stopped. Its an interesting experience because it is set up a bit like a Waffle House. There's a bar with seating and tables around the edge. Service quality varies but the food is always good. And irony of ironies, you can get a HAMBURGER at this Chic-fil-a. I'm guessing their mascot cows stay far afield of this location. Also, try the Hot Brown. Quirky name for what is essentially a blissful heart attack in a dish. Cream sauce covering bits of chicken nuggets, all covered by cheese and bacon.

I would give this place 3 stars just because of the small red door you can enter through. I go through this door each visit, just for fun. Then, take into consideration the warm southern hospitality, this place gets 4 stars. Upon entering, you can sit at the counter on barstools, or in the booths. I really liked the waffle fries here - just enough crunch. Ice box pie was really small for the price (~$3), but it was nice and cool, although I would not get it again. Same with the orange milkshake. You can't go wrong with a chicken sandwich. Delicious and full of flavor each time I come here.

#Yelp #Yelp365 31 - A friend insisted I visit the Dwarf House, offering the hamburgers and other speciality dishes. Our waitress was very friendly, offering up suggestions between a few menu options. I had the bacon, cheese over bread, which was missing some flavor. The chocolate milk shake was incredible. When our waitress learned about my friends not liking the food, she offered up dessert or anything to make it better. We did not need anything else but we really appreciate how nice she was. Getting a picture in front of the Dwarf Door is also a must! The restaurant also boasts great views of the airplane activities of ATL.

I have been to the original Chick-fil-A Dwarf House countless times, but this weekend was the first time I sat in the dining section. The dining section of the Chick-fil-A Dwarf House has more offerings than the typical Chick-fil-A. We ordered the salads, the freshly squeezed lemonade, and the a la mode brownie. Everything was excellent for the price, and the service was top notch. If you are leaving or arriving at the Atlanta airport, I would highly recommend that you stop by the Dwarf House for a piece of history and an excellent and affordable dining experience. This Chick-fil-A Dwarf House is open 24 hours, except Sundays, and they have ample parking.

The Dwarf House is the original Chick-Fil-A restaurant. The restaurant is divided into two halves. You have your choice of a fast food counter and seating, or sit down table service. The quality of the sides is excellent. The chicken sandwiches are exactly like what you get at any other Chick-Fil-A. The restaurant side has an expanded menu. Notable for it's historical significance, and yes you can get a free cow toy if you ask nicely, or buy other Chick Fil A merch. Fun, and very close to the airport.

Food is not too different than any other Chick-Fil-A, other than the fact that this original location offers full-service dining area. Our server had probably been there since Chick Fil-A started...friendly, quick, and very Southern. One nice touch was asking if I wanted my Diet Coke transferred to a to-go cup before I left so I could take it with me. Food- I had what is recommended- chicken sandwich and waffle fries. I didn't get to go through the dwarf door, nor were any of the Chick Fil-A founder's family members sitting at the counter (though the people I was with says they are usually there). Still, an interesting experience to have...I wouldn't go out of my way to go here over any other Chick Fil-A but if in the area, it's nice.

it's only right that my 400th review be for something so dear to my heart. i mean....does it get better than this? honestly. THE original chick-fil-a. this is Mecca for chick-fil-a lovers. it's a pilgrimage. to a holy place. to a real America. the dwarf house is where you go to order you favorite chik-fil-a staples and have them served to you on a plate, in a booth, by a lady who calls you "sweetie" and "baby", and never lets your sweet tea come anywhere close to being empty. this is where you go for the best chicken sandwich on earth. the is where you go. i know chick-fil-a is a huge fast food operation now but this place reminds me that this kind of food used to come from little spots like this along the road. served by people who worked day and night to make their place the best they could. who sacrificed everything for a taste of success by working hard and staying true to their standards and principles. it all sounds like BS when we're talking about a chicken sandwich and waffle fries but this really is what i love about America. places that feed the soul. i love you chik-fil-a. i love you dwarf house.

One of the more disappointing things about California is its dearth of Chick-Fil-A franchises. I live in San Francisco and the closest one is more than an hour away. Nuts. As such, every time I'm back east Chick-Fil-A is on the agenda. I don't normally crave fast food, but for some reason that damned sandwich gets me every time. Now I'm in Atlanta, and I have a chance to see the birthplace of breaded chicken goodness? Sign me up! The nice part about the Dwarf House is that it's totally understated: a typical lunch counter in a Southern town. Even better: a company that has cows advertising "Eat Mor Chikin" serves hamburgers at their landmark restaurant. Score. We shared a chicken sandwich, waffle fries, a fried apple pie and chocolate pie. Dwarf House, you're awesome.

Upon arriving in Atlanta, our gracious tourguide kathleen M told us that we would find four different products advertised in the atlanta: airtran, delta, coke and chick fil a. Well I flew in on airtran ( making delta unnecessary) and went in the world of coke gift store ( not to mention drank my fair share of diet coke this weekend), so all that was left was to go to chick fil a. Since we were running kind of early, thanks to my anal need to be at airports early, we opted to stop off the highway rather than wait until the airport. Well this was also my first chick fil a experience ever. When we pulled up it was amazing how many lights and TVs were there. It was like the disneyworld of fast food! We opted not to go inside but instead went through the drive through. It was at this point we kept remarking how amazingly well lit and "fun" looking the place was and kathleen pointed out "well it iis the original one". I think that its only fitting my first experience was at the originial chick fil a. The menu was slightly overwhelming since i really didn't know what i wanted. Jeff kept saying 'the food is suprisingly healthy for you". I'm sure that my #1 (fried chicken biscuit w/ hashbrowns) was far from being healthy.... but man did it taste awesome! The biscuit was buttery and delicious and the chicken was perfectly fried. The only down part was the hash browns which were cute, but just not that good. The best part about this final stop on my atlanta vacation.... i can revisit it any time i want with the many chick fil a locations in the NoVA area :)

Genuine Southern hospitality shines as Dwarf House's greatest virtue. History is another: this is the birthplace of Chick-fil-A. Were this Dwarf House's only asset, it would not deserve a place in the pantheon of Atlanta eateries. But if you have only a few hours between flights, and can afford a cab to the nearby community of Hapeville, the best way to experience Atlanta's warm welcome is to place yourself in the care of Tammy and her co-workers. If you really are a dwarf, or if you're a child, Dwarf House has an entrance just for you. I stooped through it as a joke, but it's a functioning entryway and a testament to the difference between Dwarf House and any other Chick-fil-A location on Earth. Here's one more difference: You can be served on Sunday at Dwarf House. Sort of. If you're up early enough, or late enough, you can visit before 4am on the Lord's day and still get your fix of sweet tea or deep-fried peach pie. After 4am, Dwarf House remains closed until midnight makes it Monday again -- after which they're open 24 hours a day until 4am Sunday. Tammy, our server, is the very soul of Southern hospitality. We were truly her GUESTS, and she would have it no other way. She was unfailingly courteous, welcoming, happy to explain or recommend menu items, happy to discuss the history of Dwarf House, and under no circumstances did she ever let our glasses become half-full without offering a refill. On the other hand, we felt that we had the conversation to ourselves. Tammy has perfected the art of watching like a mother hen (you should pardon the analogy) without hovering. I can honestly say that being Tammy's guest was among the finest examples of hospitality which it has ever been my pleasure to experience. I can't bring myself to call it great "customer service" because, in my opinion, "customer service" is what companies offer in lieu of hospitality. Tammy's hospitality is the real deal. I had a baked potato with cheese and smothered (grilled) onions, and let me tell you, the 30 cents I was charged for the onions wouldn't even buy that much onion at a store. It was enough to cover the potato even after I splayed it out, dissection-style, on the plate. That should give you some idea of the quantity and price. I also had a side salad, another good value. Chunks of broccoli accompanied tiny sweet grape tomatoes on top, and the Truett's House dressing (a French-style dressing, with pickle juice as the third ingredient) was a refreshing change from ranch, blue cheese, and vinaigrette. A packet of sunflower seeds and a packet of croutons made the salad better than I felt I had a right to expect for only around two dollars. If you'd like to be Tammy's guest -- and who, janitor or monarch, wouldn't? -- she's currently working afternoons and nights, from 2pm to 10pm. Stop in and see what real Southern hospitality can be.

The place where the chain started. It's actually a diner, table service. And I had a hamburger here. The menu is different. I liked it. It is open 24 hours, so if stuck in the airport area, and not wanting to venture back into the airport... This is the smart call for those looking for bite, or maybe a little slice of history. The slices of pie taste better than history though. And the staff serves up sass for free, it's southern, so it's sweet.

I enjoyed visiting the Dwarf House this evening for dinner while traveling through the Atlanta area. It was a bit out of my way but worth it just to see the first restaurant complete with the little door. The restaurant has both a traditional Chick-Fil-A walk up counter and a self serve area to eat as well as a full service dining room. I sat in the full service dining room and service was very good. I was tempted to order a burger but stuck with chicken - grilled chicken sandwich (not fried since I had Chick-Fil-A chicken biscuit for breakfast on the road :-) For $7.85, you basically get the same sandwich at a regular Chick-Fil-A plus what looked like a larger order of fries, plus a salad. The food was just what you would get at any chick-fil-a. If you're in Atlanta, it's worth a trip to see the Dwarf House - but have a burger if you go - I regret not having one now since that is what makes the place unique.

The Dwarf House in Hapeville is an institution. Hapeville prides itself on being the home of the original Chick-Fil-A. I doubt there's anything on their menu I have not had. Growing up in Hapeville, we either had takeout or dined-in at least once, sometimes twice a week. In high school, this place was the hangout for us all to meet up after our dates. The drive-through options are minimal compared to the dine-in menu, but those with an addiction to Chick-fil-a don't seem to mind. The place gets so crowded during lunch that a cop has to direct traffic going in and out of the restaurant's parking lot on weekdays. The atmosphere is nothing fancy--a diner feel with an animated moving dwarf picture on the back wall showing the seven dwarves going in and out of the coal mine. As a kid, this intrigued me for hours. I still get excited when I see the picture--ahhh memories. Most of the waitresses and managers have been working there for many, many years and know their customers on a first-name and favorite dish basis. I always like to see the number of years serving on my waitress' name tag--it's usually upwards of 15 years. Some of my favorites here are the Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich (fried chicken breast between a buttery bun with a few pickles) chicken biscuits, gravy, coleslaw and hot browns. For dessert--mmmmmmm, the apple pie, peach pie or chocolate icebox pies are great. They also have the best soft-serve ice cream EVER. Therefore, their hand-spun milkshakes will make you think you've died and gone to heaven. If you come to Atlanta, especially to the airport area, visit the original Chick-fil-a. I took away one star because their chicken biscuits have gotten smaller over the years. Other than that, I don't know what I would do without Chick-fil-a, and I think many people can agree.

If you find yourself in the beautiful community of Hapeville, just a stone's throw from college park and hankerin for a greasy snack do I have the place for you. On approach it looks like a little diner with an extra door out front, a kitschy tiny door, for the dwarves, in addition to the main entrance, but then you see the chik-fil-a sign and have to wonder, what kind of restaurant is this? Yes folks this is the original chik-fil-A, but it has so much more. I personally love the chik biscuit with cheese, but it's really tough to beat the chik omelet ( eggs, cheese, and a chik fil a chopped up into it) add some hotsauce and you're in breakfast heaven. Also this place is a full service diner, you can sit down and get your fried chicken brought right out to your table. If you're heading north from the airport and need to stop for breakfast on the way to a meeting, you should really look this place up. You'll be glad you did

The original home of the Chick-fil-a. The Dwarf House opened in Hapeville in 1946. It is open 24 hours a day but closes on Sunday. I know a lot about this place because I worked at the Dwarf when I was in high school. Chick-fil-a even offers a scholarship program to employees. The Dwarf House serves more than just chicken sandwiches. You can get breakfast 24 hours a day and other specialties not found at a mall location. Don't tell the cows but you can order burgers, steaks and other food too. The cows do approve of the Hot Brown. And no, a Hot Brown isn't a sandwich or something you need to look up on the Internet. You may find something unappetizing by doing a Google search for that term! A Hot Brown is a chicken casserole-type dish garnished with bacon and toast. Yummy! If you are bored with the old standard Chick-fil-a sandwich, try spicing it up. Ask for it on a grilled bun with cooked onions and cheese. Instead of putting ketchup on it, try using the House salad dressing or Heinz 57 sauce. Trivia: The first Chick-fil-a mall location was opened in Atlanta at Greenbriar Mall in 1967.

This is on the site of the original Chick-fil-a restaurant from way back in the day. They serve hamburgers just like they did when they started out. Walk up to the counter for service just like at any other Chick-fil-a, or, if you're feelin like a good time, sit down in the diner for table service with an expanded menu. The normal menu is just as wonderful as you'd expect from any chick-fil-a, but my experience with the expanded menu just wasn't that great. I found the patty melt to be greasy and unimpressive. My stomach hurt a little on the ride home. I'm giving four stars instead of three because of the atmosphere and the regular menu service. The new spicy chicken biscuit is really tasty. Better to me than the spicy chicken sandwich.

I ate here twice on my visit to Atlanta. For breakfast I had the two egg breakfast with grits and country ham. For Lunch I ate the steak sandwich with onions and waffle fries. It was really great. I can now say I have had a hamburger at a Chick-fil-a. My two younger sons loved the small door.

A Yankee visit down south is not complete without a stop at Chick-Fil-A. I stumbled upon this one accidently while looking for a gas station to fill up my rental car. Little did I know that I happened upon the first ever Chik-Fil-A restaurant. Also known as The Dwarf House, this is a full-service restaurant that screams Americana. Many of the workers have been there for over 20 years, the waitresses have names like Elsie, and if you're a local, everyone knows your name and what you want even before your order it. I ordered a Chick-Fil-A, sweet tea and ice-box pie. Service was extremely quick, and the wait staff was attentive. They even gave me a free sweet tea for the road. So, if you're on your way to the airport, get off at the Hapeville exit and stop by - you'll probably leave with a smile on your face.

The original Chick-fil-A, I spent many lunches here during my days working at Delta's World Headquarters......great food, great service from some of the original servers.....I am a simple guy, give me the simple chicken sandwich, waffle fries and a large diet coke and I am great to go. They also do not have these in Wisconsin and miss them so...but will be down in Atlanta next month and stopping by :)

The very first is still the best! Thoughtful service and some different menu options (try the Hot Brown), along with the charming throwback to 1946 make this a must-stop in your travel plans!

The first Chik-Fil-A - over 60 years old! Nice and clean. I ate at the Chik-Fil-A not in the actual Dwarf House part. The food was good - as at all Chik-Fil-A's. It was special though because there were white table cloths and fresh flowers on every table. An attendant in the ding room was very attentive. You can also get souveniers - including Dwarf House T-shirts for about $10.

I have eaten at the original Dwarf house and have passed through the miniature door to exit this fine establishment! Mark that off my bucket list? How can you hate the Chick-fil-A chain or even attempt to hate the original location of Chick-fil-A in Hapeville, GA? One cannot. Love the fact that the menu goes beyond what I have come to know from Chick-fil-A and love that everyone, even other patrons are so nice and friendly. I ventured off and got the steak sandwich with straight fries, I wouldn't recommend the steak sandwich, but I would recommend the fries. My buddy kept it pretty standard with nuggets, a char-grilled on wheat, fries and took his chances with a bowl of chili. I was busy chatting (it's what I do best) and by the time I turned around the chili had vanished. He said it was pretty awesome and he'll be returning again for another bowl. I too shall return and sit at the bar to eat.

I was first here in 1946 after the War when I was three-years-old. Then it was simply the Dwarf House. It is my favourite diner in the world. The chicken salad sandwich was my favourite item and it still is. Mr Cathy used to make them in person in 1946. Don't tell the cows, he also grilled great burgers back then His breakfast was top notch and the business still pays attention to that meal. This is not breakfast as Café Louis in Baton Rouge but it is more than enough for a Saturday morning late breakfast. This is more than Mecca for me though it is indeed the center of the world for diners. M Hapeville is worth seeing just for the history alone. Delta Airlines is still nearby though Porsche has replaced Ford Motor Company as the other major company in town. The airport workers and auto workers built this first in the empire place. Mr. Cathy always had a flare for design and his first Dwarf was a marvel with much more to come over the decades. Atlanta has many diners who became famous chains but the two iconic fast food places were and still are this little place in Hapewille with its sibling in Forest Park and their neighbour on North Avenue and other places--the Varsity--the cornerstones of pop culture in Atlanta, right up there with Coca-Cola. I still go for the chicken salad sandwich but there is always much more to celebrate. I admired Mr. Cathy. He treated me like a regular customer (which I was) when I was a lad. I did not agree with him in all ways but he was a heck of fellow.

Getting to come here was a bit of a special treat, especially since it's the chicken magic started, there's a dwarf door, and I'm not usually around this area very often. I'm stoked that I got to visit before moving away. Breakfast here really hit the spot after physically being in 3 states before 7:30 am. After a few pictures, staring at Mr. Cathy, and crouching to get through the small door, we were seated on the diner side. I ordered chicken minis, with 2 eggs, and grits. Everything was as expected; chicken minis and impeccable service like at a regular chick-fil-a, and the sides like most other diners. The grits were actually surprisingly pretty tasty. Lots of interesting things that you wouldn't normally find inside a Chick-fil-a, including a moving Snow White themed painting! It's open 24/7, except for that it closes on Saturday night to give its workers the trademark Sunday off. Overall, it's definitely worth checking out for the history and novelty of it, but I'm not quite dying to return.

The ORIGINAL Chick Fil A!!! ...or the dwarf house. Let the haters hate, this is where it all began. The Garden of Eden of the fried chicken sandwich. Diverse menu that includes burgers...YGTBFKM CFA!!!! sweet potato Souflee, mac n' cheese, and a variety of other traditional Southern menu options. As with nearly all CFAs, staff was friendly and courteous and the restaurant was clean. Make a pilgrimage to the alter...just not on Sunday!!

Well, it's your typical Chick-Fil-A, but not really your typical Chick-Fil-A because it is, after all, the first Chick-Fil-A ever. They offer the same awesome service that you'd get at any other chick-fil-a location, but you add the fact that this place opens 24 hours/day (except Saturday when they close at 10 pm and they don't open Sundays) so you never have to worry about having a chick-fil-a craving at odd hours of the day. They have free WiFi and they also offer food that you won't find at your typical Chick-Fil-A and they have two sections for dining. One is for us regular people, and the other section is supposedly for servers (at least from the sign). They also sell souvenirs for you to take home. This is, after all, the first Chick-Fil-A ever. Come here to take pictures, to see the birthplace of Chick-Fil-A. Try the non-chick-fil-a menu. If you're a visitor, this place is minutes away from the airport so it's not that far of a drive Seriously, just go check it out.

This vintage diner is located about seven miles south of downtown Atlanta in sleepy Hapeville, Georgia. (Is Hapeville still a sleepy town now that the Porsche headquarters is there?) The place is steeped in Chick-Fil-A history and on several occasions I've seen groups taking tours of the kitchen. On one side of the Dwarf House is a typical Chick-Fil-A fast food counter where you can place orders off the drive thru menu. The other side there is a diner counter, retro stools and plush booths so that you can sit down and savor your meal on a plate. For some reason, the diner side is a magnet for senior citizens, police officers and firefighters. Aside from the Chick-Fil-A chicken, the food is amazingly average. The breakfast items (Grits, Eggs, Toast) are all good but in a standard way. The lunch items Mac and Cheese, Sweet Potato Casserole, Greens) are on par with standard southern cafeteria food. Everything is tasty and filling even if unimaginative. I do like the fact that they display the calorie information right on the menu. I'm there to consume all things buttery and fried but I appreciate having full information. I'm pretty sure that other diners like being able to make informed decisions too. Three stars for the food with a fourth added for service. Many of the waitresses have been working at this same location for 15+ years; their length of service is on their name tags. They have southern sweetness on lock. No matter which one of them serves me I'm almost guaranteed to be called Sweetie, Honey or Sugar at some point. The Dwarf House is a good place for a down-home southern meal and courteous service. If nothing else, stop in to have a meal at the original Chick-Fil-A.

I love this place. First of all it's open 24 hours ( except for Sunday ) great for late night cravings. Kind of reminds me of the waffle atmosphere at night but with much better service and food. During the day a total family joint. Also a local favorites with delta and Porsche employees. Expanded menu is awesome. Good home cooking with reasonable prices.

Dwarf Door Chick-Fil-A will forever hold a place in my heart. Let me paint you a picture: Our flight was delayed and we're trapped at our layover in Atlanta overnight without a car. Our travel plans for that night were ruined. Delta Airlines has been rude and unhelpful. Our day has pretty much been garbage. It's midnight and everything is closed. Enter Chick-Fil-A. The moment you walk in through that tiny door, I swear you're taken to real-life Disney world. The waitresses are like those sassy diner waitresses that are your best friends secretly that you've always seen in movies, except they're not sassy at all and just completely sweet. They'll walk your plane-addled minds through this menu (they have beef burgers?!) and tell you about the history of this location. Strangers will laugh, nobody is capable of sadness here. I ordered hot brown (which I'd never had before). I don't think it's close to the authentic Kentucky hot brown from what I've read on Wiki, but it was pretty delicious. A little crazy unhealthy; it comes with a side salad. Don't do what I did and swap that out for fries. The salad here is crisp looking and delicious. Vegetables are nice. The sundaes here are also great. AND THEN TO TOP THIS WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE OFF, A PASSING STRANGER PAID FOR OUR MEAL. Thank you stranger. Thank you sweet waitress. Thank you 24-hour Chick-Fil-A. Thank you Atlanta.

The first ever Chick Fil A! If you are a Chick Fil A fan, and are in the Atlanta area- you need to make a stop here. This location offers a drive through, regular quick serve, and sit down service. The sit down service is the best, and draws a line, for the shortest wait and quickest service take a seat the bar. The sit down section offers all day breakfast and other unique menu options that all Chick Fil A's do not offer. The regular quick serve is a bit slow, but the people behind the register are the friendliest you will ever meet. You can also purchase merchandise from them such as pens, shirts, cows, coffee mugs, water bottles, etc. I would suggest putting your merchandise order in before you eat since they're a little slow. This location is not ideal for large groups as none of the seating can accommodate it unless you are willing to split up. And yes, you can use the small dwarf door!

The food is served hot and fresh - always delicious, but it's Chick Fil A, so you expect delicious. I love sitting in the diner area and ordering a burger or doing a meat and two. Very friendly staff and prompt about serving. One of my go-to places when in Forest Park. I tried going through the dwarf door and fell, so don't do it, unless you're under 5'4".

I give this place 5 stars not for the food (which is on par with any diner or regular Chick-Fil-A) but for the experience. After going to the CFA Home Office Backstage Tour and finding out the original restaurant was only 10 minutes away, we had to complete our "CFA Day" with lunch here. It just happened to be that Bubba Cathy, one of Truett's sons and SVP of CFA, was there and introduced himself as we were waiting in line for a seat! We recognized him having just seen him on the video we were shown on the tour. He was there for lunch with some people himself, so it was cool to see. Our waitress was Victoria who had worked there for 16+ years and she was soooo sweet, constantly asking us how we were doing, apologizing for keeping us waiting because she was waiting on Bubba, and when we said we understood because she was waiting on the big boss, she said she treats us all the same. Before we left she told us some stories about growing up with the Cathy family and I was enamored with the pride that she had for them and her place of employment. Anyway foodwise, get the hot brown, and just enjoy the fact that you're eating at the place where it all began. Also it's open 24 hours (except Sunday of course!) and close to the airport so stop by if you can.

I use to live very close to the first Chick-Fil-A restaurant. So coming to this place aways bring back memories of coming with my mom to this place. Even tho they have modernized the place a bit, they always have the same dwarf house and same asesome customer service. Oh and besides chicken, they do have steak which isn't on the menu. And like their other chains, they are closed on Sundays.

Great food. Don't have a Chik filA at home so try to eat at one when travelling. Happened to be staying just down the road from the original one which started out under the name Dwarf House Grill. It was fantastic southern counter dining at (what I imagine) its best. I had a steak at a Chik filA as crazy as that sounds and didn't spend much more than at any other casual fast dining option (ala chipotle etc). Definitely an experience worth trying, and this particular time i didn't take the cows advice to eat more chiken.

I grew up in Hapeville and visited this place quite often. Everything is exactly the same as when I first visited 20 years ago. Great southern hospitality and the food is good. My hubby ordered a burger just because he couldn't order a burger at any other Chick fil a and he said it was ok. I had the chicken platter ( the chicken breast, corn bread, and two sides) and it was pretty good. I also got cheese dip for my fries ( why not go unhealthy all the way?!??)! I love this place because this truly is home to me! Highly recommend it just for he experience! I heart this place!
