The BEST Italian food I have had in over a decade! Reasonable prices, personable staff. I had a Greek Salad with baked Ziti... Garlic knots are the bomb! I vote this Best Italian food in Georgia!

Delicious pizza, served steaming hot. Cheese and meat-topping slices were delicious and each slice was very big. The waitress warned me of the size after I placed my order, but I was so hungry I devoured three slices. Great service. I have been to many pizza joints and this was definitely up there as one of the best tasting. Unfortunately I am rarely in Greensboro, Georgia, but will make sure to eat there again if I am ever in the area.

Went to Luigi's for a late lunch/early supper. 2 in the group had Strombolis , one had a calzone, and I had the low carb special. Everyone agreed they've had better. The garlic knots came out luke warm. After a return for a reheat they came back hot but seemed a bit doughy or not done in the middle. Everything seemed to have a lot of dough wrapped around a little filling and the outside of the dough was overdone. The dressing on the greek salad was good but that didn't make up for the barely cold beer. Next time we'll drive a few miles on down the road to Mellow Mushroom.

We are new to the area. Been here for a few weeks. Both my husband and I are born and raised in NJ and grew up eating NY style pizza. Authentic NY pizza joints are ALL over NJ. I never even had chain pizza until I was in college. That being said, we read the reviews and tried both Luigi's and Mellow Mushroom. If you are looking for authentic NY style pizza, Luigi's wins no contest! The cheese and the sauce are superb. The dough was almost perfect. It was thin and delicious but it couldn't hold the weight of the sauce and cheese. The crust needed a little more rigidity. But I will definitely try it again to see if the soft crust was just a fluke. The taste was like being back in Jersey/ NY. If you want a kinda trendy place to eat and you don't care if the pizza is basic then Mellow Mushroom is for you - our kids didn't eat it. It was more like Papa John's type pizza. We will definitely be back to Luigi's for more great pizza.

This pizza is brick oven style and has an authentic Italian pizza flavor. As a pizza lover, I was very happy to find Luigi's close by. The garlic knots are fabulous too! The ambience is comfortable and cozy like an old fashioned pizza parlor. 5 Stars from me!

Fly's were flying all over. When we received our food it was not very good. The calzone was not good at all. Would not go back.

Pizza was good - had the Luigi House Special. Price was good and service was friendly. House salad was good although the house dressing was a bit bland I thought. Hours stated they were only open till 5 (we were there on a Saturday) but they are definitely open later.

Okay, normally I'd start with a three star rating for a business I've only been to once until I have multiple visits. However, I'm going to start with 4 stars for several reasons. The main one is my nitpicky impossible to please mother. She visited Luigi's with me today and was highly impressed. She said it was the best pizza she ever tasted, and described it like it was sent from heaven. She talked about the size, which I must admit was very big, and the steam coming from it as it was brought to our table straight from the oven. If you can get my mom to enjoy a meal and keep her mouth shut, you're GOOD. We ordered a large house special which comes with Pepperoni, Sausage, Meatball, Green Pepper, Mushroom & Onion. It was 18.95 and at first I was worried we wouldn't get our money's worth. Let me tell you that eating 2 slices was the best I could do only because I hadn't had breakfast nor lunch. Otherwise, I would have been stuffed after 1 slice. If you are concerned about the price, don't be. You can take 1 slice, cut it in half, and have two normal sized slices but slightly bigger than normal. The sauce is delicious and I love that the veggies are sliced very thin, not chunky. I also got the garlic knots. I ate one and I was done. The next reason I give this establishment a 4 star rating starting out, is because of the customer service. A very nice cashier who also was our waitress. I should have gotten her name and regret I didn't because she was awesome. Our glasses were never empty and she even offered us to go drinks. Also, we got to meet and talk with our chef personally. He came out to greet us, ask us how the food was, and to tell us about how fresh the food was and how everything is made from scratch. He even shared with us some interesting tidbits about how they are able to replicate the N.Y. taste. Kudos to Kirk, the chef, for a job very well done. He even gave us a loyalty card for future visits. And believe me, there will be future visits. I'm impressed and look forward to upping the stars from 4 to 5 with consistent visits if they are all as good as what I've experienced today.

Very authentic NY Style Pizza. The taste was great and you can tell the owner is from the NYC area. The garlic knots were not as good as I hoped they would be, swimming a little too much in oil and butter. The greek style salad was awesome and looked just like the photos, covered in Feta. Another jewel in the lake area if you are looking for really good pizza in the heart of Georgia. The staff was great and very accommodating. They were your typical friendly Georgia people that made you feel right at home.

Authentic New York pizza made with quality ingredients. Friendly manager and wait staff. Best pizza in middle Georgia. My husband and I travel. 25 miles from Milledgeville every week or two to enjoy.

If you are looking for a great Italian experience this is not the place. I stopped in to try the Greek Salad from another users recommendation. The salad left me unimpressed as it was a low rent version with a very sweet thick dressing. It was very different from any other Greek salad I've tried. I also tried a piece of pepperoni pizza which to me was just average fare. The tables are shod with red & white plaid table cloths which would look right at home in a country cooking place. The waitress was as redneck as they come. While the experience wasn't bad nothing left me yearning to come back.

The single most arrogant, poorly run restaurant I have ever encountered. As was the case with another reviewer, went there 45 minutes before posted closing time only to be told the OWNER (who was loudly present) had decided business was sufficiently slow the pizza oven was done for the day. So, requested a steak and cheese and was informed they are available only at lunch. The pizza, which I had previously is no great thing in any event. Would not return there to be buried.

Good place if you are spending time on Oconee and want to get out of the hotel for dinner. Small place, very hot due to pizza oven rolling. Service is consistently good. They do seem to get overwhelmed on holiday weekends. food is consistently good.

My favorite pizza place in greensboro. The family that runs the place is very friendly, the pizza is fantastic and there are many items besides pizza that taste great. I highly recommend the mussels. Served with garlic knots, pair this thing up with a small greek salad (their secret greek dressing recipie is the nectar of the gods) and you have yourself a fantatstic meal. Kim and I will be home visiting in a few days and eating lunch at Luigis is near the top of my to-do list.

Since the change in chef's, the food at Luigi's has gone downhill fast. Rather than a terrible Luigi's pizza, we now get a frozen pizza at Publix. And, as others have stated, the staff can be arrogant and provide poor service. We do not eat here any longer, sure do miss Donna and Rich's tasty pizza and great service!

Showed up at 8:30 and the sign said open. The hours even said they were open until 9:00 but as soon as we walked up, they turned off the sign and refused to serve us. Staff was quite rude.

I love the food here but I prefer to take-away because the venue itself is terrible. It's always either sweltering or freezing inside, lots of flies, and the lack of windows make it stuffy and dark. All the same, I can't visit the lake without having Luigi's pizza at least once!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
