I was welcomed like a member of the family. The grilled chicken quesadillas were prepared perfectly with just the right amount of cheese to chicken ratio. The salsa was homemade and delicious - just the way I like it. The guacamole was a little creamier than I usually prefer (like maybe they mixed in sour cream) but it was still flavorful and a nice compliment to my quesadilla. Finally, I ordered a side of refried beans and all I can say is YUM! They come a close 2nd to what my friends refer & I refer to as "crack beans" at a little hole-in-the-wall place in Fort Worth. I CRAVE them! Overall, I'm super stoked I came across this gem. (They even brewed me unsweet tea!) Nice people, good food, and a telenovela on the tv - this place is legit.
This is the real deal. I haven't had real Mexican Mariscos cuisine in decades! I ordered 4 tacos: 2 steak (asada), and 2 cow tongue (lengua.) DELICIOUS! well seasoned and so tender! not to mention the handmade tortillas! reminded me of my grandmother's. I also had 2 tostadas de pulpo y camaron (octopus and shrimp.) AMAZING! true Coastal Mexican/South Californian style food. the service was perfect. the salsa de tomatillo was great, and the regular salsa. I will definitely be coming back when I go to Atlanta. ps. I only ate one tostada, my date ate the other one lol
I rate all locations based on the quality of food served. For reasons such as this. The inside is open and bare... But with that out of the way. Lets get to the real reason of the review. The food! Its great Mexican food with the authentic flavors to back it. In house made tortillas is another note I really liked about this place. I ordered tacos, which had great flavor along with a flavored water.. If your bored ask to try one and get outside of your comfort zone. You won't be disappointed. Get past the decor and enjoy a worth while meal :) thanks for the service and great food!

Don Burrito Grill

No complaints! Excellent service and fresh, flavorful ingredients. Beats any chipotle or moes hands down. The torta is amazing and authentic. Love the fresh salsa and the prices are extremely cheap. 8$ for carne asada with rice, beans, salad, guacomole, and tortillas. Only downside is they are closed on sundays and they close at 330pm mon-sat.
You know that feeling you get when you're at chipotle and you see them scoop meat into your burrito and you're just hoping they'll be nice and scoop another? There's no need to worry about that here because it's always a double scoop of meat! Just found out about this place and I couldn't be happier. The closest thing to tacos la villa out there! Only been here once for the burrito and I love it. Best part is being able to get queso in your burrito! The portions are huge and the prices are not. Only 7 and some change for a burrito bigger than chipotle. Plus free chips and a salsa bar! And the quality is too notch. Can't wait to go back and try more items! Edit. Just tried the nachos. I've never seen a bigger portion of single serve nachos. And delicious!!
I'd you are in the area of the Atlanta State Farmers Market, this one is a must. Simple fresh foods, well handled and really good prices make this one a winner! Do try their "spicy" salsa - although their mild and tomatillo salsas are good too; their spicy salsa stole the show for me! Really big on taste, and not really what I would call hot. Even my girlfriend who has a heat tolerance a few thousand "Scoville" units below mine, thought it was the star! (And she even asked the owner if the spicy salsa was for sale as a separate item- for now it's not ~ there is always hope!) I had the grilled chicken burrito (the size was more like the full burro) and it was obvious that everything that I selected was wonderfully fresh right from the market - and at $6.50 was a steal. My girlfriend had the grilled chicken quesadilla. Another winner! Stuffed with handfuls of cheese and chicken then grilled - then it was opened to have all of the other goodies that one could desire. Really it was a flat burrito when it was fully stuffed. While I mostly just drive through the Forrest Park area with no thoughts of stopping (other then the airport)- this one is worthy of a detour if I'm in the area. The only reason that they are not five stars is that it's obvious that the tortillas are not made on the premises. Don't let that stop you- it is by far better than any of the chain alternatives. And les expensive too!

Vietnamese food so good the natives come too. Great food, served quick for a good price. I enjoy pho in the winter and noodles in the summer. Try to get here once a week, but it does not always happen.
This place is the spot to get pho when you don't want to cook it at home. Their pho is really good! It is pretty busy all the time, but it doesn't take long at all for you to be seated at all. It's a great spot to go with friends and get some pho and bubble tea. The owner there is extremely friendly as well! I used to work at IHOP, and he would come in to buy pancakes for his daughter all the time. The only thing I have bad to say would be that their rice dishes are a little lack luster. Rice Dishes: VN Pho Pho: Pho Da Loi
Quick Vietnamese bite! Plenty parking, plenty tables, ac and clean restroom. Not to mention quick service. Good food, good price, and good service! I normally come once or twice a month.

Fresh from being completely blown away by the quality of the bolillo roll we were served next door at La Cocina de Mama, we just had to stop in and see where it came from. Panaderia La Potosina is a small neighborhood bakery with an array of Mexican baked goodies, (I swear they have fresh baked cupcakes that are as big as a softball), cold drinks, an ice cream bar and a large selection of religious candles and pinatas. It's a nice place to stop in for some ice cream after lunch (I got a scoop of strawberry), get some hot chocolate from the Nestle machine they have, or to enjoy one of their sinfully enormous pastries. It's also the place I will go from here on out to buy my bread for tortas even though there are at least five places closer to the house where I could stop. Seriously, their bread is that good!

Oakwood Cafe

Had dinner here last night. Ribs, fried green tomatoes and a cucumber salad. The food was great, service was great. Will be back again for the breakfast.
There are a lot of meat & there's near the airport, but I've gotta say~ Oakwood cafe is probably the best choice. The good is fresh and yummy. Can't wait to go back to try their chicken and dumplings. Pork chops = they give you 2 fried pork chops! The 2nd one was a surprise for me :) Squash casserole = yummy! Corn bread = not too dry. Not too sweet~ perfect. One warning, the sweet tea is REALLY sweet. I usually end up getting half & half tea to tone it down.
After missing out on the in-town farmer's markets one recent Saturday, we headed to the State Farmer's market in Forest Park. I was looking forward to a healthy lunch with fresh, seasonal vegetables at the Farmer's Market café before perusing the stalls for fresh produce. The café had a new name, Oakwood Café, obviously under new ownership since I'd last visited. I'd like to say it was as good as ever, but the food fell short. Each day offers a selection of eleven meats that run the gamut from pot roast, fried pork chops, grilled tilapia, hamburger steak, bbq and chicken prepared 3 or 4 different ways. Vegetables are equally varied with at least fifteen different choices. Unfortunately, with so many options, quality is sacrificed. What should be a showcase of fresh food is a combination of processed food that gets overcooked. My cubed steak, breaded and fried, was tough with gravy that was slightly burned, fruit salad way past its prime and generally, everything suffered from being prepared much earlier and held too long on a steam table. The Oakwood Café is not as good as in-town meat and threes and definitely not worth a special trip.
