What?! When I heard sushi buffet, I was a bit skeptical. I could only imagine the poor quality product sitting on a cold bar looking miserable begging to be thrown away. Boy was I surprised! My wife I decided to go there while our kids were not with us because we just assumed that it wasn't the kind of place children would really enjoy. As we entered, we were greeted by a smiling hostess. We were escorted to our table and promptly greeted by a server. The bar caught my eye as we walked through the dining room to our table and I found myself getting excited by what I saw. The sushi and sashimi was fresh and not dried out. The rolls looked very appetizing and the hot bar was minimal. Now I've been to a couple buffets that advertised a sushi buffet but it was hardly the case. This place really is a sushi buffet with some other stuff. Oh yeah, they have a hibachi station too. This place is on the expensive side when compared to some other buffets but you have to consider what they serve. I've never found a decent quality sashimi/sushi plate for less then $18. Most times when we go out for sushi we expect to pay a lot and still be hungry afterwards. HAHA!! I swear I ate my weight in fish and rice. I certainly got what I paid for plus some. They had to have lost at least 20 bucks with me. If you're looking for a sushi place where your get your moneys worth GO HERE!

Really good buffet choice for Asian food. Usually I avoid buffets in general, especially Asian ones (like those places that have pizza on the buffet!?), but this is a buffet I don't mind frequenting. They offer a large sushi bar, Mongolian grill, typical Asian dishes, salad/cold seafood bar, and desserts. I've had sushi a few places in the Augusta area and this is on par with those options for much cheaper. It's not the best, but it satisfies my sushi craving sufficiently. I love that they have so many veggie rolls and interesting specialty rolls without raw fish. The Mongolian grill has a variety of meats and veggies. The hot bar has pretty good food, but nothing spectacular. The salad bar has iceberg lettuce and really good ginger dressing. The crab legs are OK, but not great mainly because they are cold and not a great quality. But the fact that they are included in the price makes up for it. The dessert bar has nothing Asian, but some good cakes and fresh fruit. The service is quite tentative. Even when the place is busy I've had good service. Though beware, this place gets packed at lunch time. The interior is not what you'd expect from a buffet, it's very classy and chic. All in all, for the price you can't beat it. You'll pay a similar price for a hibachi grill plate somewhere else, and without sushi. I come here all of the time from North Augusta mainly to just go here. I doubt you'll be disappointed!

It's not often that you see a sushi buffet at the price point and quality of Izumi. Especially one that offers a hibachi bar. It's clean. Everything tastes fresh. The sushi varieties are replenished frequently enough. If sushi isn't your thing, there's a good variety of regular American-Asian fare. And there's always the hibachi bar, where you select your ingredients for your custom stir fry. Ultimately, the sushi is pretty good. It's not excellent, but it's still better than some of the other established sushi restaurants in Augusta (Sole downtown comes to mind, since all-you-can-eat comparisons come to mind). Izumi a great restaurant at a great price, especially for lunch. And there's beer.

When I hear the words sushi and buffet together, I always hold my breath. I have yet to find any dining situation where sushi can be prepared in advance and still maintain any type of quality. No matter what people tell you, the sushi at Izumi is NOT fresh. It may taste good based on their experience but it's far from fresh, even with the guys preparing sushi in the middle of the sushi rotunda. Do I sound like a sushi snob? maybe, but I just want to make sure your expectations are low enough to enjoy your food. The $17 dinner buffet was okay, with most items sitting dry under heat lamps and partially melted and dripping ice cream in a freezer box. The Mongolian area seemed like it had potential, but there was no one there to cooked the food when I came around. There is plenty to choose from but nothing seemed too fresh. The place works well with groups and the servers are always around checking on you. I wouldn't expect a miracle, but the place isn't too bad.

It's much better than I would have assumed a sushi buffet would be. Probably 20 - 30 roll varieties, seemed to be fresh. Tasted fine. The hot buffet items.. decent. Much better than the average buffet. Their 'hibachi'... meh, not a fan. It's cool that shrimp is an option, but the flavor was nothing special (yes, that's potentially on me since I add the spices). I think it's unfair to judge a buffet off of one visit, so I'm sure I'll go again. For a sushi centric buffet, the price for lunch is a great deal.

If you live in Evans and love sushi, you have to try this place. My family was absolutely blown away by the variety of fresh sushi options on the bar, the attentiveness of the staff, and how nice the interior of the restaurant looks - I remember the previous incarnation of this location, and the new owners have done a great job fixing it up. The wife and I were both blown away by the sushi, and the kids loved all the other options (dumplings, egg rolls, chicken, fruit, mini-desserts, etc.). On top of that, the pricing was great - our family of 4 ate the buffet for less than $35. We will certainly be trying this place again. Even though we've enjoyed other sushi stops in the area, this is now our go-to place when one of us gets a sushi craving.

Was very skeptical when I entered this establishment. I usually don't eat sushi at buffets for my own health and because of the low standard, but when I walked up to the bar the sushi actually looked edible, so I went for it. Luckily, I was rewarded by sushi that could potentially be the best in Augusta so far. I haven't been to Miyabi in a few years and since Mikoto's closed, Izumi might have the best sushi, and as a bonus it's a buffet! They also have a hibachi bar, which has a nice little selection of meats and veggies. The hot bar is pretty average for a buffet, but who needs that when you have all-you-can eat sushi and meat!? I would definitely recommend this place even if you are someone that feels that they do not eat enough to warrant spending money on a buffet. I'd say one decent plate full of sushi will get your money's worth!

I'm almost embarrassed to say how much we actually come here. It's too good of a deal to pass up. We usually come on Saturdays for lunch, because it's only $11 a person. I have a hard time paying for sushi elsewhere because of this place. I love starting off with the seaweed salad that they have. They have so many options when it comes to sushi, but the salmon lover is one of my favorites. They have food besides sushi on one side (tempura vegetables, egg rolls, lo mein noodles, sesame chicken, etc.) and another area where you can create your own plate and the chef will make it right there for you. This place has a little bit for everyone. The service has always been pretty great. They have areas for large parties, but also plenty of booths. They have one side that is just for desserts, as well.

I have been here three times they are not the best. This is an okay place if you simply want sushi, but I would stay away from the buffet and hibachi. The cook acted as though he did not want to even do the hibachi. I contemplated not going back to get my plate and wish I had not. I was not impress to say the least. The sushi on the other hand is alright. The pieces are not bite size for the most part. The service does not exist. If you need a refill, you may want to drink all your drink until they hear the empty cup noise. And then you may get a refill. If you are a big sushi eater, stick solely to that at this place and stay away from all other items that may appeal to your senses to be food.

If you love sushi, and want to try various different types of sushi for one price, Izumi is the place for you. Their dinner price($18) may be a little on the pricey side, depending on the amount of sushi you typically eat, but their lunch special($11) is a great deal. The sushi actually taste good, and not like your typical buffet Japanese/sushi restaurant. They also have some of the typical Japanese buffet dishes, such as teriyaki chicken and also a hibachi grill station. Service has always been good here for me personally.

Favorite place to eat! There is something for everyone here! I love when they have fresh oysters and oyster shooters out on the buffet. We come here often with three kids and we are never disappointed.

Food was good. Place was clean but the staff was horrible. We had to bus our own plates and ask for water refills multiple times. All the staff was sitting up front at the bar where there weren't any customers and the guy working the hibachi section had his hat on backwards and was wearing a wife beater t-shirt. I did not tip because we had absolutely no service and when the girl picked up the check she opened it in front of us and then gave us a dirty look and made a rude sigh and then walked away. Might go back because the food was good but they should hire a manager and make sure everyone is doing their jobs.

Hardley anyone eating there so all the sushi buffet items had been sitting out for a while. The California rolls tasted old, the teriyaki chicken had been sitting out and all the teriyaki sauce had gelled up and was like a paste rather than a sauce. I did not dare eat any other sushi than the California rolls because the California rolls tasted old and NOT fresh at all. The egg drop soup tasted like it had been in a pot for a long time and burned. I will NOT be back here again. I have eaten here before and it was very good. However, tonight was awful and this will be the last time I eat at this restaurant.

My mom and I were looking for new sushi joints in the area and I stumbled on this restaurant. Surprisingly saw the two words "Japanese buffet" with a 4 star rating made both me and mom's eyes twinkle. We wanted to eat here for lunch. The first thing I saw was a sign that reads $10.95 lunch and $16.95 Dinner. I looked at my mom and couldn't believe the price!? That is such a good deal! We were seated right away and the server instantly brought our drinks. First, I wanted to walk around and check out what they had out. I made a full round trip of the buffet and was truly impressed with what they had to offer. They have it divided by sections. One side salads- seaweed salad, iceberg lettuce (two dressings to choose from), edaname, and more. Two sections for sushi. One side with appetizers. Another section- basic meals (lo mein, soup, fried rice, etc.) They have a station for hibachi which you can request an order to be made. Last is the desserts. They had a great selection of everything (Westerner and Japanese). Vegetarian friendly as well. My typical meal for me was mostly appetizers and sushi. -Ginger Salad -Edamame -Vegetable Tempura (Broccoli, sweet potato, onions) -Gyoza (pork) -Chicken Katsu -Chicken Satay Sushi: -Peanut avocado roll -Queen Roll -Scallops Roll -Hawaiian Roll -Sweet Potato Roll Desserts were mainly cakes, fruit, pudding and cookies. Of course I enjoyed 3 small pieces of coffee cakes. Server was very attentive in grabbing our plates out of the way, providing extra napkins, and refilling our waters. Also I noticed that they keep the buffets and restaurant very clean. They made sure to keep the buffet stocked/fresh. I'm bummed that they do not have a Japanese Buffett in Cincinnati because this place is the bomb! Place deserves a 5 star rating! The price is ridiculously cheap and you definately get what you pay for. Great quality food (can you believe the amounts of seafood you can eat?) Next time I return, I will be sure to wear yoga pants! :)

I discovered this restaurant through a Yelp review. Yelp works and I am benefiting from it. My visit to Izumi was overwhelming. Not very often do I attend a buffet and all of the food tastes, amazing. I am not a lover of Asian food, but I will be eating here again. The sushi is the reason I went to Izumi and it did not disappoint me. Two to three servings of the sushi would cost at least thirty dollars in a sushi restaurant. To receive unlimited, great, sushi in addition to the rest of the buffet the low price is amazing.

Had my first experience there two weeks ago and did not like it at all. Severely overpriced and I very small Chinese buffet selection. And their Chinese food did not even taste good. And all sort of had a same bland taste, like it had been reheating for a long time. There were not very many people there when we went so my guess is that some of the food had probably been there warming for a couple hours. Maybe if I was into the hibachi grill concept it would have been better but no one was even stationed at the grill and no customers were having hibachi done for themselves during our visit either. I didn't care for their sushi. It just seemed very commercialized. They also had more plates empty then full on their sushi bar and that's sad for as expensive as their lunch buffet is. Is definitely not worth the huge price that this place charges in my opinion.

I love this place! It has so many options of sushi and the fish is so fresh! We normally go for lunch dinner is more on the expensive side!

As an avid sushi eater (and an Asian woman) I know my sushi and my Asian food. The sushi at this place is old and not fresh. I'm surprised people have no gotten sick from eating RAW fish that has been sitting out for hours and not replaced with fresh fish. Also if you're paying this much for a sushi and crab leg buffet you should actually be served CRAB LEGS. This is a classic situation where they don't want to replenish crab legs for the buffet because that would mean they're loosing money. Overall awful quality sushi, food, and service. First time here. Never coming back.

Love this place sushi for days!! The price was amazing! I ate tooooo much!! I will definitely take my family there when they visit. Great place for a girls night!!

I was quite happy with the hibachi. The decor is very typical of an American Asian restaurant. The staff was friendly enough. The sushi was not amazing and the uni (sea urchin) was not what I've had before, it was off for sure. Overall I enjoyed the meal and experience and so did the Family. Although, besides the the uni the sushi was good but I'm not sure I would order the sushi again, and that is the main reason I went.

A great place for sashimi/ sushi fans. All you can eat. Even has something for those who aren't. There is a hibachi cook who will cook up your selections plus rice, noodles, tempora veggies, beef & chicken to choose from. Staff was friendly each time I visited.

Absolutely the BEST all you can eat Japanese restaurant that I have ever been to. Even the cost to eat here is very competitive. I am all the time recommending this place to anyone in the area or passing through. Great staff, great service, FRESH food and some of the best sushi rolls I have ever had.

  • Joena M.

They are creative with their Sushi. From Sushi with Jalapeño, to Sushi with cheese to Sushi with peanuts on top! If you're not feeling the Sushi, they also have already made rice, fried rice, teriyaki chicken, noodle....don't forget the miso soup and you can get Udon noodles too. If you want alcohol, order Japanese beer ( don't know how to spell it) or Sake

  • Susan D.

Love to see this place so full, so often now! They put out small amounts on the buffet so that it never gets stale, always fresh. Sushi, oysters, crab legs, build your own hibachi meal, great tempura! Always clean. We've only had to wait once and that was on July 4. It's one of our regular haunts.

This is the absolute best Asian Buffet in Augusta hands down!!! I am absolutely in love with this place! Every single thing in this buffet is amazing!!! Hands down the best sushi in Augusta! The lunch buffet is around $10 dollars! To compare the next best sushi place to me is Tako Sushi and one roll is 10 plus dollars! Sushi, hibachi, Chinese, desert it's a 10 out of 10 everything is super fresh and delicious! I will return over and over for amazing Asian cuisine!! Absolutely perfect!! I would recommend it to everyone!! I'm in love with this place

  • Julie M.

Love it here. I was super skeptical when my friends suggested a buffet for sushi!! It is delightful, super fresh, and they have a good selection of cooked food for the non-raw eating fools. Service is as expected at a buffet place, minimal, but attentive if you need something and they clear your dishes quickly. Decent selection of beers and some Saki. Price is great and it's now a favorite for myself and some CA transplants out in Augusta.

I consider myself a sushi snob because I lived in Japan for 3 years. Izumi's is probably the closest to real Japanese sushi as you can get here in Augusta.

I love Japanese food so I was excited to receive a flyer for the opening of an all-you-can-eat Japanese buffet. I decided to go with my sister one weekend when she was home from college. We went during dinner on a Saturday. To our surprise and delight it wasn't overly crowded and had a very peaceful atmosphere. The staff was prompt and courteous. The layout and decor was very modern and a little upscale. A big step up from Hibachi Grill. Even the bathrooms were nice and clean. We thought the price was very reasonable. The food was kept hot and fresh and there were so many items to choose from. It seemed like the best time for me to give sushi a try and I wasn't disappointed! I did stick to the cooked choices but once I tried a few I was hooked! Haven't been for lunch yet but would like to see how the menu compares to the one for dinner.

Dig the food, but they have some weird idiosynchrasies that hinder the experience. They have a ton of suishi options and the sushi chefs on hand to make whatever you want more of. There's a mongolian BBQ section, too (love this). There's also an "other asian cuisine" buffet bar that has some pretty good dumplings. They have a chilled sea food section with crab legs, peel-and-eat shrimp, and a few other things I wasn't willing to try. The only thing I found odd was the lack of certain, what I feel would be critical, items. For instance, there is no salt at the table. You have to ask for a salt shaker. Also, they serve crab legs, but they dont have readily available crackers, nor the melted butter. I had to ask for the crackers, I didnt bother with the butter. There are a few other things that I felt were something that should either be on the table or readily available, but they keep them secreted away until you ask for them. The waitresses stay pretty busy, so you're more likely to have to track them down to get what you need.

    (4)
  • Xichen J.

This place employs the tactic of bringing out crab legs and sashimi every 20 min. If you're a dinner that comes and eats fried chicken and friend rice, the always have it stocked. If you're looking for the more expensive items, beware, they usually run out quick and is slow to stock.

They are great! Delicate Japanese dishes, must go! If i return to Augusta, definitely go there!

I can really only comment on the sushi buffet. Thanks to the help from Yelp, we found a new spot to put in the rotation whenever we can't decide on what to eat. Now we normally abhor buffets in general due to past experiences involving worshipping a porcelain deity later in the night, but the reviews were pleasant so far and the pictures looked enticing. We found the place thanks to the colorful streamers and were sat immediately during a quiet lunch shift. After being greeted by a server, we got up and helped ourselves to a sampling of the wares. Now there's nothing terribly adventurous about the rolls here-lots of spicy tuna, panko crumbs, spicy mayo, avocado and salmon in various combinations. The craziest thing I saw was a red snapper sushi so this is a great place for sushi newbies. I noticed a lot of really good looking Chinese dishes over at the hot food bar but I couldn't eat a bite more after the sushi. Okay, except some cake. I did help myself to chocolate cake 'cause there's always room for that stuff. It could have probably been a little more moist and definitely felt like it was out to dry since the restaurant opened but other than that, it deserves another chance.

Love this place. Eat here often and it is the best place for sushi in Evans. Price is great for the selection. Great variety of sushi plus a good selection of Japanese fare as well as seafood at night and a hibachi grill.

Not recommended. Rude manager. Not worth of money you pay for. More than 75% of dishes are unhealthy food. I can feel MSG in all food.

  • Joey Y.

This place is not bad. The food was good and they have crab legs on the buffet bar. The food is very fresh, because they put out a reasonable amount at one time and not pour fresh food on top of old food like a lot of buffet places do. If you like sushi then this is the place for you, because they have a large sushi bar. The restaurant is clean and the wait staff are very polite and attentive. Now why did I only give this place only three stars. Here's why. They don't have a lot of traditional Japanese food on the what I call the non sushi bar. They do have a hibachi grill where you can select items and have it prepared in front of you, but no shrimp or chicken on the hibachi grill side, but there was beef but it was very tough and chewy. Another reason for three stars is the men's restroom need attention. Not filthy mind you, but it needed to be checked more often. I will probably give this place another try in the future. It's not on my avoid at all cost list, but not on my God I can't wait to go back list either. Give it a try and leave your own review and let me know what you think.

In a word: Amazing. I feel as if my standards for liking a restaurant are, for the most part, modest. I don't expect amazing service. I don't expect a nice decor. I don't expect food that blows me away. I am happy with service, decor and food that is just "nice". Izumi blows me away. I mean, just completely knocks my socks off. I had thought that Fujiyama had a decent/average sushi selection, and I was relatively content with the random pick up order from there for a weeknight dinner. However, having been to Izumi, I am now unable to think of going anywhere else. I have been here twice now, and both times it was fantastic. I am so unbelievably happy with this place, I almost don't know if I can put it into words. But, fellow yelpers, you know me well by now, so you know that I will try! Decor: Very nice. I mean, it is clean, fresh, and pretty. I dont really have huge expectations here, or requirements, but this place is great. Service: Unbelievably prompt. Sodas are refilled before they are empty. Plates are taken away as soon as the food is gone. I almost don't even notice the servers as they are so quiet and fast. Great service!! Food: Amazing. They have a huge square island in the middle of the restaurant. One side is desserts, one side is just pieces of fresh fish or sashimi, one side is salads, crab legs, etc, and another side is about 20 different types of rolls. Some fried, some fresh, some fancy, some plain, pretty much all of them are DELICIOUS. Then there is a whole hot line, which has 4 soups, a bunch of tempura vegetables, dumplings, egg rolls, and then various "chinese" dishes, like sesame chicken, etc. THEN there is a whole hibachi stand, where you pick your food, put it into a bowl(meats, veggies, whatever), and the guy stands there and...uhh....hibachi's it? Whatever the verb is to make hibachi, he does that. I haven't even tried that yet, because the rest of the food is so darn good I just don't ever have enough room for that. Price: fantastic. It's something really cheap, like 16 bucks or something for dinner. Bottom line: This place is amazing. You should go. A lot.

Izumi (or as my 2-year old niece calls it Umizumi) is an absolutely wonderful buffet for the whole family. It's a wide variety of very good sushi. The price is great for an all you can eat sushi and Asian food buffet. The only thing about the price is that the dinner price is much more expensive than the lunch price. The lunch price is about $10 while the dinner price is about $18. That's a pretty big difference for the exact same food options. I've been once for dinner and once for lunch and the only difference I noticed was that crab legs were offered at dinner. On the plus side, the lunch price is available all week long, even on the weekends. The hot food bar is really good, too, but there is not much to choose from and they keep small portions on the bar, so it goes pretty fast. I have yet to try the hibachi but I have heard that it is really good, also. Overall, Izumi is an excellent restaurant for the whole family. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

This buffet is decent, but a little on the pricier side. It's $16.99 a person. I think its a step up better than Hibachi Buffet near Wrightsboro. The place is fairly large inside and I came here for the first time for dinner one night. There was a decent amount of selections to choose from and the sushi bar was okay. I got an array of items such as sushi, fried rice, teriyaki chicken, miso soup, beef teriyaki, gyoza, etc. After that I got a few dessert items like red velvet cake and cream puffs. Service seemed good. Our waitress refilled our drinks and cleared off our tables in a timely matter. I'm going to go come back and try out their other items because I was already full after one plate.

I looked up this place and it looked great! My family and I pulled up and we decided to try this place, since I'm trying to get my family to try many types of sushi. We went to get our plates though... We saw more than 10 different roaches coming out from the PLATE stack on the buffet. I have no idea how the food tastes. It might have been tasty, but at the sight of that many roaches, we turned and left. This restaurant received a 100 on their health inspection so this might be isolated. The dining area was setup nicely, and the staff seemed very friendly. Giving two stars based on the appearance and staff. I don't know if we'll try it again.

Went here on a Saturday night and it was not crowded as I though it would be but you are seated fast and you can get right down to it ! I counted over 20 or more types of sushi up there but also is a grill and some tempura that is lite and crunchy. People love variety and this is a place for you and friends to come in and have fun with all your friends and family.

Went here on a Friday night and man was I impressed. They had sashimi and sushi, raw oysters, crab legs, Kim chi, real seaweed salad, and more and more and more. I found it all to be delicious and without a doubt will be going back. I know the sashimi was not exactly cut correctly but for $16 with drink it is well worth the price. They do have a hibachi style grill but I did not bother with that since I was so happy with the selection. Great place if you want decent quality sushi and sashimi for a reasonable price, if you don't enjoy that then this isn't the place for you.

Finally a buffet I LOVE. There is something for everyone here. I am not a huge seafood fan...but I love sushi rolls and they have lots of different choices. You can tell the sushi is fresh, and you can see the sushi chefs replacing old stuff and making new stuff. The hot buffet is awesome...love the chicken katsu and burbon chicken. Everything is fresh and hot. They also have hiabchi...I haven't tried it yet but the selections are plentiful. The dessert is off the chain! Prices are decent. I have only ever gone for dinner which is $17 per person. But considering you have all the sushi you can eat...I think that's a reasonable price. I've already gone twice! Loved it each time. The wait staff is nice and attentive...I never had an empty glass or a dirty plate on my table for too long.

AMAZING FOOD! I tried almost every sushi roll and every one was amazing! The price is amazing as is, not to mention for the quality and quantity of food you get. Even the drinks were priced great. The desserts were great too. I am allergic to shrimp, which I thought would be a problem, but they had so many non-shrimp choices I did not miss out at all. We will definitely be back!

  • Andy L.

Unlimited fresh sushi and nigiri for a very decent price is as good as it gets. The non-sushi selection is pretty good as well. I haven't tried the Mongolian style selection or the more expensive dinner buffet with sashimi. Overall I think this is the best local asian buffet by far.

Went here in February 2014 - 6 times in 3 weeks! Mmm! One night - This was a rare treat! They had Uni (sea urchin) one night! You never know what little surprises they may have at various times. They have the largest seafood sushi buffet options of raw and cooked in Augusta!

I just have a tip. If you go you should go early like right when they open up for dinner. or on a very busy night. The sushi is much better at these times because it will have been just made and just out much faster. I went late once and it defiantly wasn't as good (even thought it was still tasty) as when you go right at 5pm.

I am so happy this place opened. It is my new favorite place to eat. I've eaten here 4 times now and they've only been open for a month - I've not been disappointed. I am not kidding. You can eat $50 of sushi without even trying very hard. And the dinner price for an adult is $17 for all you care to eat. The sushi and sashimi is phenomenal. There are usually a surprise or too (think surf clam, octopus, or sea bass). I really love this place. I don't know the owners - I'm just promoting the place because I want them to be successful.

I'm not one to write too many buffet reviews... ok, yes I am. Bottom Line Up Front: Don't miss out. You can't do much better for sushi at this price. 10.99 for lunch or 16.99 for dinner... Can't go wrong either way. Having gone twice in the past couple of weeks, I've noticed that the staff is very courteous, the amenities are extremely clean, and the food is consistent. I'm not sure about the large price hike for dinner... The options aren't that much more. But the ones that are, are fantastic. Massive Oysters, Oyster shooters, sashimi, etc. The squid salad was a personal favorite. For the price, I hardly expected to have such a large variety of options to choose from, all of them delicious. More importantly, however, after going straight for the sashimi... The stuff is fresher than the Prince of Bel-Air. Not the slightest hint of fishiness ( In the best of ways) to ANYTHING at this place. One small gripe is that the crab legs were not quite to my liking. Obviously were previously frozen... but one can't expect too much more for a buffet. They went quick anyways. I don't know much about the whole BYOB thing... but they do sell sake and tasty japanese sodas.

There is little bit of every thing for the oriental in you. The largest sushi bar in Augusta. Did I mention it's also a buffet? I don't know how they can serve get food for the buffet price. No complaints from me.

Excellent quality sushi! Very clean restaurant!! They also cook to order hibachi. Very reasonable. Will be back!

This place is pretty dang good. I have been on the hunt for decent sushi and the only I've loved is takosushi. Coming here I was nervous bc the sound of a sushi buffet sounds kinda.....risky? Entering I loved seeing the sushi chefs dead center making all different kinds of sushi rolls and preparing the sushi. That put me immediately at ease. The buffet line was also welcoming. They are not your usual huge tins of food that have been sitting there for half a day. The food was presented on med-lg normal plates, making me think it's fresher? Idk that's just me. The hibachi station looked great as well. All the food was delicious. Great place if you want hibachi, sushi, sushi rolls and a buffet and desert! I loved it!

  • Wayne K.

The reason I gave them only 3 stars was; Hibachi was ok, small area, just average nothing great. Other hot entrees, same just ok. Sushi, some good to very good, nothing great Dessert limited Service, very good I will admit the food was fresh Place was clean For the price Augusta does have some that are better, I probably will not return.

Fanatic sushi buffet! Great selection, great quality. If you love sushi & want a fast, affordable sushi fix, you can't beat this!

Izumi has a large friendly staff, comfortable seating arrangements and a good selection of fresh sushi made in front of you, hibachi and desserts. I have dined here 10 times and have been extremely pleased every time. Our server was quick to refill and chatted with me and my baby. The booth was clean and the atmosphere is pleasant. My family always enjoys our experience here and want to see it do well. Come in for delicious sushi and great service!

Absolutely delicious food and a classy atmosphere as well. Their buffet has a wonderful selection of sushi accompanied by a hibachi bar and a variety of common Asian dishes. 5 stars because the staff was very sweet and family friendly, which is a big plus for us with two children under 3! Definitely worth a visit!

The sushi was mediocre. Service was good. There is a wide selection of sushi here, and I love the fact they had sashimi. I did, however, find a tiny piece of hair on my salmon roll, so that brought a little bit of concern. The management handled the situation very well, and apologized for the incident. Overall, it was an okay experience.

I went here for lunch and had a great experience. The staff were very pleasant and on their game. They even cracked a few jokes! I friend told me about this place for sushi and that is why I came, but they also had some other stuff like a build-your-bowl style grill. The sushi was tasty and had plenty of variety. That was one of the best parts of this place, the variety. I made sure to try a little bit of everything ;-) I would definitely go for lunch because at lunch prices, this buffet is a steal.

This is an excellent place for sushi. They have an ample variety and it tastes great. The staff is quick to refill your drink and clean of the dirty plate. The atmosphere is great and the restaurant is very clean. The health inspector give it 100 grade. I highly recommend this restaurant and the Las Vegas sushi roll.

Gem in Evans! It's clean. The service is great. Well priced. The food is delicious. If you're hankering for some sushi rolls, this is the place to go. I think the lunch is a better deal. But if you're searching for authentic Japanese sushi, go to a Japanese owned and run restaurant in Atlanta.

So this place is a total gem. After spending four years in Japan, I've almost abandoned sushi now that I'm back stateside. It is generally too expensive and not fresh enough. However, at Izumi it is incredibly easy to get your 16.99 worth of sushi. Usually this would be the cost of two rolls. The buffet has a wide selection of western style and Japanese rolls, traditional nigiri sushi and sashimi. There is also a good salad bar, hot bar and -get this- a hibachi grill that cooks to order. This is all included in the 16.99 price tag.

I have stopped going to any other sushi restaurant in Augusta. This place is just as good as most in The Augusta area! I know the idea of "sushi buffet" is kinda like ehhhhh. But give this place a shot and you'll love it! $11 for lunch and $17 for dinner. That's much less then you'll spend at any sushi restaurant.

Absolutely amazing selection of fresh sushi. I am extremely picky and usually don't like buffets but OMG what selection and oysters crab legs. Very clean and great service but warning you must come hungry. I did not want to part with all the sushi. For those who like hibachi there was plenty of options, chicken shrimp pork and beef. Recently dropped prices $11 lunch and $17 for dinner but well worth every penny.

the atmosphere is good. Everyone around me seems to like the food, but all I can taste is whatever cleaning supplies they use. I guess they are wiping down the tables they make the sushi on, which is good, but it makes the sushi taste like bleach.

All you can eat $10 buffet. Large selection, everything out in the open where you can watch it being prepared. very nice layout. For 10 bucks can't be beat.

Been here 5 times since opened, all during lunch. Noticed that they have cut back on food quality. Handmade shrimp tempura replaced with frozen butterfly shrimp. Squid salad replaced with baby octopus. Fried rice made with regular long grain rice instead of Japanese / Korean round grain rice. Last not least, sushi rolls made with more rice (thicker layer) although sushi selections still great. Best thing they have going is the Hibachi grill - beef & steaks are good quality meet compared to other Asian rest in CSRA, except for PF Chang. Our waitress agreed with my observation. When I asked the hostess about the 2 dishes, she said they are served during diner ($$). I may try diner just to see, will give them 1 more chance.

Great selection of food! The food has always been consistent, but I gave 4 stars because the service has not been the same every time.

For the area, this is as good as it gets. Lunch ($10.95) & Sunday brunch ($16.65 same as dinner). They only serve sashimi during their dinner. Hibachi grill is open for both lunch and dinner. Servers may or may not have trouble taking your drink orders. Not a huge deal. Will come again.

~$15 lunch, $20 dinner including tax and tips decent sushi considering it being a buffet. Get there, get seated, go get food. Been here twice so far, no wait. Good, cheap, healthy-ish way to carboload. Decent americanized chinese hot food in the back as well. Dessert highlights- almond cookies and fudge. Will be back

I have been going once a week for the past month, and I've noticed a slight decline on the food quality. My first two visits here were awesome, but the last few times I went I noticed they changed the batter for the shrimp tempura, it's not as flaky and crispy as it used to be I think they are using a different batter. The cooked sushi rolls have changed too. Every different roll contains the same imitation crab and white and brown sauce on it with a variation of spicy tuna or shrimp and avocado. The rolls are good, but what happened to the rolls with different cuts of fish and fish roe? Other than that, everything is still the same and service is excellent. I just hope this place doesn't go down hill, or start to cheapen the ingredients. I'll check back in a month or so I still love this place. Hopefully they will go back to the way they were.

I have been here a total of roughly 5 times and counting. We were seated immediately upon coming in by the same male each time. The very back section seems to be for large groups and the section by the food is for couples or small groups. Waitress/er's were very attentive and refilled drinks appropriately. There is a large selection of fresh sushi/sashimi that is constantly being refilled by the chefs which prepare them in plain sight, a hot bar that offers basic Chinese dishes (which I personally find mediocre at best but still tasty) and also soups (miso, seafood, egg drop). They offer a hibachi grill which my hubs would marry if he could... haha. There's a large variety of meat (seafood, chicken, steak) eggs, and veggies. He has no shame on going back and forth (don't worry we tip)... "bulking season" lol! The chef is fast and knows what he's doing when it comes to preparing food on the grill. There's also a dessert section which has fresh fruit, pre-cut cheesecake, brownie or cake, pudding, and there's a white freezer to the side that has cups of chocolate/vanilla/and strawberry ice cream. Overall, I personally had great experiences and for the price I feel it's well worth your money. Give this place a try, hopefully you won't be disappointed!

I've been very impressed with the quality of sashimi and sushi rolls each of the 5 times I've visited Izumi. Also, the squid salad, oyster shots, and tempura items have also been very good. If you love sashimi and sushi, you're definitely getting a fanstaic bargain! I've not tried the mongolian grill or many of the hot items but my dining companions have consistently reported good quality and taste. The only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars was the quality of the raw oysters during my last visit. They were milky and had poor texture. Needless to say, I didn't eat them.

This is most beautiful sushi buffet in this area. Salmon sashimi is my favorite one ,because it is very fresh and delicious; and also the hibachi steak makes me crazy , the sauces and cooking style just fit my taste; lov it. And all the workers are so friendly .

I've been here twice so far. They've been busy both times, but I've never had to wait to be seated. I'm not a very brave sushi eater, but I've tried many things out of my comfort zone here and they were all delicious. The hot bar along the back offers some very good choices and the hibachi is great, too. Lastly, their sweet tea is on point.

Very friendly customer service, definitely a sushi place but has enough to satisfy the one non-sushi eater in your group. Only place I've encountered this Far East to serve chicken katsu.

Wow wow wow! We are visiting from Florida and decided to try this place based on the good reviews. All I can say is I am jealous Augusta! We thoroughly enjoyed everything we had, which included oysters, seaweed salad, ginger salad, and so much fresh and tasty sushi and sashimi! The decor is beautiful, you can BYOB if you choose, and the service was outstanding. The buffet was kept full and fresh as well. If you are a sushi/hibachi lover please go here! They even had plenty of cooked options to choose from. We will definitely return whenever we come back to Augusta.

Took my family here yesterday, and it was great! Huge selection of sushi and good selection of hot foods as well. There were more than just the basic sushi options. They had lots of sushi rolls that are usually the "specials" at other places. We didn't try the hibachi, but there seemed to be a lot of options for that too. The desserts are also really good, especially the little chocolate cakes. So good! The prices are really reasonable, $10 for lunch and $16 for dinner. The lunch options don't seem to be as exciting as the dinner based on previous reviews, but definitely still a great find in Augusta and a fantastic deal.

This place is AMAZING. I am so glad Augusta finally got a sushi buffet, its about time. The food is always fresh and delicious and their servers are very sweet and attentive. I bring people here at least once a week because there is something for everyone, even the non-seafood lover. Try the Hella-Hot roll - its insanely good!

Finally a really great sushi buffet in Augusta! I was really missing my sushi havens in Atlanta since I moved here but then I discovered Izumi. Spacious and beautifully decorated. Quiet and not too crowded. The sushi is definitely the best I've found here so far. $16.99 for an adult buffet dinner is a steal when you consider a decent roll from other places costs $10 by itself. Izumi has great fried calamari, soups, fried dishes, desserts, ice cream, specialty rolls that are so good, and the sashimi is killer. This is definitely a repeat restaurant for anyone who likes good quality sushi and/or seafood.

Great deal. My son loves sushi and this buffet is a real bargain. Lunch buffet for adults is $11 or $12. I forget the children's lunch price. Dinner buffet for adults is about $16 and children are $9. My toddler eats free. Hibachi, sushi, and hot Japanese/Chinese dishes. Food is fresh and tasty. They scored a 100 in their last health review. All in all a great place to eat.

The food was good until I saw a Knat or flea of some sort sitting in the raw chicken by the Hibachi bar. Too top things off there was a black hair on my girlfriends watermelon she received from the buffet. Those two things grossed us out and we will never be coming back. The service was good and attentive however.

Came here on Christmas eve around 6:30PM... I had to try it because I had people raving to me about this place for a week now. The prices are decent, about $11 for lunch and $17 for dinner. The place looks pretty nice and clean, and you can also bring your own alcohol. Oh yeah, and I dont think I have ever seen a restaurant with a 100 health inspection score before.. so really good job. As for the number of entrees, there was a limited selection of hot dishes, hibachi, cold dishes/sushi, and dessert. The selection was pretty depressing and I will get to that later. Hot dishes included shrimp and vegetable tempura which was fried very nicely. The breading was crispy and not too greasy. There was also pepper steak and big bang (?) chicken and they were both pretty tender. I did not really have much interest in these so I moved onto the SEAFOOD! As for the cold dishes, there were entrees like cold crab legs, raw oysters, and edamame. The crab legs were alright, you could tell they were frozen before. It was difficult to remove the meat from the shell and it got messy because they were so full of salt water. The edamame were delicious and slightly salted. The raw oysters were EXTREMELY FRESH! Unfortunately, I only had two of them because of this serving speed issue.. For the sushi, wow, this place probably has the best quality sashimi (especially for a buffet) in Augusta. They had red snapper (?), tuna, white tuna, ahi tuna, and salmon. I was surprised you could find this quality at a buffet. I tried some of the rolls, maybe four kinds, and they were okay. Nothing too spectacular but I definitely expected more variety. The service speed made the buffet really really depressing. There were more empty plates than individual sushi pieces. Most of the time, we spent waiting for the chefs to replenish the entrees. Unless you are standing by the sushi bar for a good 5 minutes (literally..) and giving the sushi chefs the stink eye, you wont get anything! In eight minutes time, they replaced each cold entree maybe about ONCE. It was maybe one or two rolls for EVERYONE in the restaurant, and maybe 10 pieces of sashimi for everyone to fight over. REALLY? Either this stunt was to limit the number of expensive items people ate or they adjust it based on the number of people at the restaurant so food doesnt go to waste/sit out too long. I dont know, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt until I come back. As for dessert, there was very little selection. Some fruits, and pre-cut slices of cake/frozen cheesecake, and individual cups of icecream. We spent maybe 2 hours at this place, with the majority of the time waiting, but our waitress was wonderful and attentive! She definitely helped made the night or I would have been more disappointed. I give this place a 3.5/5, rounded up for effort.
