This is a good lunch place. I've enjoyed every sandwich I've gotten there, and their lemonade cake is amazing (although it's crazy rich, like it's almost hard to finish a whole piece after a meal). One thing I don't like is their sweet tea though. I usually love all sweet tea (as long as it's sweet enough), but theirs seems to have some wierd aftertaste that I can't stand. Unfortunate. All in all a solid sandwich/salad place though.

The Wright Gourmet is the best sandwich shop in Atlanta. My personal favs are the Blue Max & the lemonade cake.

Great sandwich shop in Dunwoody. If you're looking for something that's a change of pace and not a chain restaurant, this place is a great spot to get a good quality sandwich.

I have worked work nearby for over 5 years, and just found this place about 1 year ago. It's Dunwoody best kept lunch-time secret. Everything i have ever tried here is excellent, and i have been through the menus many times. If there is any criticism it is long lines during peak hours, and a tendency to run out of certain items. But, that is to be expected for such a great place with fresh ingredients.

Ahh, good deli eats. I'm a big fan of their muffuletta sandwich (which those in a hurry can often get pre-made) and their hot corned beef sandwich on pumpernickel. Of course, being in the south they have sweet tea ... I know that doesn't seem like a big deal to people that have always lived in the south ... but trust me ... it becomes a huge deal if you ever decide to leave. The have a small indoor seating area but a large patio seating area that can be "zipped" up in plastic in the winter and has heaters to keep the clientele toasty warm.

Really good sandwiches. They have seating inside and also out on the front patio.

Unless you have the patience of Ghandi, do not go to this place at lunch. Me and Kelly have a lunch date every Friday and with her working in the Perimeter area, we have been tapping into all of Dunwoody's lunch spots. The sandwiches were pretty tasty, very unhealthy and very filling. I had the turkey pecan salad sandwich. Delicious and heavy on the mayo, just like I like it. The atmosphere was terrible and it was definitely an older crowd. Worth checking out again... For take out. That's my word and I'm sticking to it.

I guess this place is appreciated as a neighborhood sandwich place, but I used to love the salads. $8.50 for nothing special. The salads are half the size they were a few years ago, and the only light dressing they offer is ranch. ?! Very little meat or cheese on bagged salad mix for a Cobb salad. Learned my lesson, will go to Publix from now on.

I have over 100 places to review and this year, I am taking it slowly. That being said, I have been going to this place for about a year now and can give you my perspective as a repeat customer. Wonderful sandwiches, with great meat, fillings, and bread. What else could you ask for when analyzing the quality of a deli? For non-bread eaters (I feel for you in the most heartfelt way), you can grab a salad to calm your growling stomach, though I cannot tell you how those are because I always go for sandwiches. My favorite is the Bachelor Brunch, which is a grilled sandwich on pumpernickel with bacon, hard-boiled egg, jalapeño peppers, Swiss cheese, and mustard. I always have to press a few napkins to this, as some kind of fat is slathered on the bread prior to it hitting the panini press. This makes me feel slightly better about myself and once I devour my sandwich and usually a slice of cake, I pat myself on the back for having taken off about 10 calories. Others that I have tried and loved are the Continental (sans onions) and Rebel Reuben. Speaking of cakes, their cake slices and cupcakes are fantastic. I am not exaggerating. The portions are generous and the cake itself is always perfect moist with a wonderfully delicate crumb. I've tried the yellow cake with chocolate frosting and red velvet varieties. This place absolutely rivals the cake shop down the street on Mount Vernon Highway, of which I have a pretty high opinion. If you want brownies and cookies, those are also available. I think I tried a chocolate chip cookie once upon a time, but it did not really stand out. If you want dessert, get cake. Be a cake monster, rather than a cookie one. While never looking too hard at these options, it seems that Wrights Gourmet has trays available for parties and such. Their catering menu reveals that you can order things like the Chilled Beef Tenderloin Platter, Stuffed Mushrooms, Lemon BBQ Drummettes, and Savannah Marinated Shrimp, in addition to other items. Cakes are also available whole. If in the area, stop by for a lunch that will leave your belly pleased.

Great sandwiches, great cake/dessert bars, great deli salads. Green salads could use an update. All in all, a neighborhood gem.

I'd had this placed bookmarked since I moved to Sandy Springs 4 years ago, but finally got motivated when I wanted to get some take out for lunch while on maternity leave. I had the baby in the stroller, and walked through the plastic enclosed patio into the main store. I'd already pretty much decided what I wanted from looking online. While there were several cash registers, there appeared to be only 1 employee taking orders, and no clear queue as to which cash register he would use. Fortunately, I looked hungry and he asked what I'd like. Since I was eating for 2 and late getting lunch, I chose the shrimp po'boy and the cuban. The turkey salad is popular since everyone seemed to order it and everyone was told that they were out of it (at 12:45). After placing my order, I wandered around, sitting at various tables as I tried to be out of the way, keep the baby calm, and determine whether or not my food was ready. I was a little disappointed that it took 20 minutes to get my order, as the lunch rush had seemingly died down, and there were only a few orders in front of me. It seemed like my shrimp poboy was waiting behind the counter while the cuban was being heated. I ate the cuban in the car as I drove home. It was pretty good, but needed some zing, either from jalapenos or mojo or maybe even tangier mustard. It seemed rich with the melted cheese and mayo and plentiful meat. I ate the shrimp po'boy when I got home (about 15 minutes later). The shrimp were still nicely crisp, but there was too much bread and it was too bland. Remoulade was spicy and had nice tang from chunks of relish. I'd go back to try the famous turkey salad if I was planning on dining in and getting there before the lunch rush.

Thanks to Yelp & a community in Dunwoody that takes pride in their local businesses, Wrights was a hit, in my book. The dining area could use a little more wall art and/or color, but when you're serving up sandwiches like the Golden Gate with some of the freshest ingredients I have ever had on a sandwich, why bother?? Busy on Thursday during the lunch rush, I ordered the half sandwich & it was plenty for me, along with a side of broccoli salad & a drink. Everything is clearly made from scratch or at least is sourced locally because the flavors were outstanding. I'm ashamed I have worked in Dunwoody for almost 2 years now & today was my first time to Wrights. I will definitely be back & next time, I will have a bunch of colleagues with me!

Loved this place! The wait was a little long for our sandwiches, but it was well worth it. I got the Bahama Baby and the sandwich was literally the size of a small dinner plate. It was ridiculous. The onion roll was nicely toasted. I loved the cucumber balancing out the roast pork (thinly sliced, which I liked) and ham. You can't go wrong with crispy bacon or melted Swiss, either. I also got a few desserts to go. The strawberry cake was a huge slice and cost $4.25. It was incredibly moist. The frosting was very sweet and generous, but it all tasted great. I got a piece of Coca-Cola cake ($2.95) which was very fudge-y. I definitely want to try their coconut and carrot cakes. They also have other desserts, such as cheesecake brownies and seven layer bars. Great little lunch spot.

  • Marcus O.

[TL;DR] good sandwich. long prep. worth the wait? not if there's a line. while i'm waiting for a script to run, i thought i'd drop a quick note about this place. (lies. the quick part is above.) this is a walk-up sandwich shop with pleasant people and hella long preparation times. maybe it wasn't that long... but standing around eating free crackers didn't make the time go by any faster. there are only so many precious seconds you can stare at the same dessert trays without caving in to your pathetic will power. went splitsies on two things: bachelor brunch and bahama baby. they were both based on yelp reviews. the bachelor brunch is basically eggs and bacon in a sandwich with jalapenos and cheese. amazeballs. the bahama baby on the other hand was some concoction of forgettable meat in a flavor palette about as adventurous as white bread. i'm going to be unfollowing some reviewers shortly. :o) protip: call in your order ahead of time. saw what appeared to be regular customers doing this, waltzing in, picking up their order, and walking out. happened about 58 times after i placed my order.

This is a good place but way overrated. Its a solid three no more!

  • Brandon L.

It was thanks to favorable Yelp reviews that I went to try this place out. They have a good selection of sandwiches (try 'em all!) and thus far, they have not disappointed. There have been some sandwiches I've gotten where the flavor profile was a little skewed, like a sandwich with blue cheese where the cheese's presence really faded into obscurity after the first bite, but overall the quality has been very good. I've enjoyed coming here, and I plan to come back again. I will update once I get more visits under my belt.

'Been going here for 29 years, and it's always great. I introduce a new friend (at least) to Wright's every year. Those who aren't from Dunwoody don't always know about it, but those of us from there know our sandwiches from Wright's. The salads and desserts are great, too.

  • Amanda S.

great sandwiches!! perfect for lunch and everything is fresh! the mufelleta sandwich was amazing! I would highly recommend that. then their homemade fresh sides are really nice too! Mac salad, veggie salad, fruit salad, and many more options! plus they had huge home made buttercream frosted cupcakes for dessert! yum :) definitely stop for lunch!

    (4)
  • Ana B.

I just love their avocado turkey salad. A whole avocado underneath so you get a piece on every bite. The lemonade cake is also superb! The edges are glazed so they are extra tangy. Even though I'm not a big chip muncher the olive oil and rosemary one I tried might be my favorite flavor ever. Great lunch place!

    (4)
  • Art V.

Roast beef was very rare. Good sandwich but ordering and getting order was chaotic. Might be better to go. Items on website were no longer served. Could be better.

    (3)
  • Jason M.

I cannot adequately describe how slow and rude the service is. You will wait 30 minutes for a sandwich. The food is pretty decent but not worth the lack of service and wait. When our food was finally ready, my order was wrong--but waiting another long time for my correct order didn't seem like it was worth it.

    (2)
  • Xyr Z.

Ok, I can understand not expecting made-to-order sandwiches everywhere I go, but this place calls itself a gourmet sandwich shop. They got 2 out of the 3 sandwiches I ordered wrong. I asked for a turkey breast sandwich, without mayonnaise. Normally, not a big deal for me, but I can't eat mayonnaise whilst pregnant if there's a possibility that it contains raw egg. So I tend to ask them to hold it, which they didn't. The other sandwich half was for my 5 yr old. I asked for a plain ham and cheese, nothing else. It came with lettuce, no cheese, and mustard thick on the bread for $5.16. As the mustard seeped onto the meat, he wouldn't eat it and I ended up giving him my sandwich. $32 for lunch that only two of us could eat! And the wait times were insane for a weekday, which was made worse because the order was screwed up.

    (2)
  • Susan L.

The food is great, but service is terrible. Staff is rude and you can sit for over 20 waiting for a sandwich you ordered and paid for (you order at cash register and wait for Them to call your number). I keep going back because food is good and not many places serving sandwiches and salads near by, but it is so frustrating when in hurry! Just left after going in 30 mins ago to pick up a salad to go. And it's 2pm, nobody was in there! Arrrrhhh

  • Samuel S.

Well put together sandwiches! I would recommend in order: 1.) Cuban 2.) Bach. Breakfast 3.) BLT I'm looking forward to sliding this spot into my rotation of dunwoody restaurants.

Food is great but redo your seating!!!!!! Wasted space behind the counter, goodwill left over seating tables, and overall stressful order/pick up set up...... Gave you three tries....Not coming back again!!!

This place is amazing. Try the Golden Gate Sandwich. I know they have other good ones, but in my opinion, this is the best sandwich I have ever eaten. Love the cakes!

  • Thomas M.

A great little sandwich shop I found on a lark, and glad I did the place is no frills and draws a crowd (for good reason) I ordered the Monty Cristo and it was fantastic, good service too. I've been to a lot of deli's and in my opinion, this one is one of the best in Atlanta. They have a large selection of sandwiches to choose from which looks like they modify daily on a giant blackboard over the counter. I recommend stopping here and I will be back soon!

  • Janelle D.

I had to update because I've been here many times since my last review, and I could seriously eat here every day. Everything is delicious - the fried chicken sandwich, the meatloaf sandwich, the side dishes, the desserts, the customer service... all of it is great.

I was craving a sandwich and saw the good reviews for Wrights and thought I'd give it a try. Came by on a Saturday at 130p and the line was not too bad. We got the Po Boy and Rueben, both we're really good. The sandwiches were nice sized and they had good flavor. There was a slight mix up with my order and had to wait awhile but the employees we're very accommodating and i was taken care of fairly. Definitely will go back again.

  • Nia Q.

My colleague took me to this place and I've literally come back for the same sandwich 5 times! I always order the Classic, its feel-good food! The whole sandwich is huge, so I save half for later. I'm not a fan of the atmosphere inside and it gets really crowded during lunch, so I just use the curbside pick up and take my sandwich to go. I haven't tried their salads, but they look really good and have lots of them pre-made for people who want to grab and go! The lemon cake is really flavorful. I have had the sweet tea, and it's not my type at all... extremely sweet, and tastes like there's mint or something in it... I don't think I'd go back and sit inside, but maybe when the weather warms up, I would take advantage of the patio seating. Definitely give 5 stars for the food!

This may truly be one of the hidden gems of Dunwoody. While i am not a fan of everything that is served at Wrights, the shrimp poboy is fantastic. The shrimp are fried to the perfect temp/doneness every time (nearly every other restaurant of any cuisine over cooks shrimp). The food is simple, fast, and reasonably priced. Most of their sandwiches are fantastic though sides leave something to be desired. If you work in the area I would put this place at the top of the rotation.

It was a casual Friday business lunch....so we met at wright's......this was my first experience and as usual I went for the first sandwich that screamed off the page.......The BEEF MARTINI......a spectacular sandwich and I strongly recommend the onion roll ........LUSH

  • Heidi C.

I ordered a turkey sandwich and requested spicy mustard. They said they only had a spicy mayo based mustard. I declined b/c I can't stand mayo. The sandwich they gave me was two pieces of bread, some lettuce and turkey. I went back and asked if they could put some tomato and onion on the sandwich and they were like yeah, but tomatoes are $.46 extra and the onions are free. Seriously!?Tomatoes are an upgrade at this sandwich shop?? This place seems to rely way too heavily on meat salad-based sandwiches, which is just not my thing - again with the mayo. I've enjoyed their cakes when my mom gets them but I seriously will not be back for lunch again. Disappointed.

One of the best sandwich shops we have eaten at in Atlanta. The sandwich/salad selections are about as big as my appetite on a Saturday night at 7pm. From turkey, to ham, to reubens, to pimeto cheese to fried green tomato sandwiches to much much more. Your choices are endless. I ate the bahama baby. Roasted pork and ham with a mustard sauce. Fantastic. My wife at the fried green tomato sandwich and loved it. She said the fried green tomatoes were cooked perfectly. The right amount of breading to the right amount of fry. Oh and the sandwiches were HUGE. No need for chips or pasta salads. This was our first time at this place and the cashiers were more than happy to help us. When we told them that we were new, they got the other cashier to come over and tell us her favorite sandwich along with other she suggested. This could be a weekly stop for lunch. We look forward to going back. Oh, did I mention that the sandwiches were huge and fantastically good?

A-mazing sandwiches. The part that annoys me is I've lived practically right next to this place for 1 1/2 yrs, & I found out about this place two days ago. FML. Rebel Reuben is the way to go--- On French bread! It's delicious. Trust me-- if this is the first time for you, go with the Rebel Reuben on French bread. If you're a tuna fan- Tuna melt is awesome. I haven't tried any of the sides, because I'm a starving college student, but they look super good. So you should try them, if you're not a starving college student. I will, once I graduate and get a job.

I ate at Wright's back in the 1990's when I worked in Dunwoody, and haven't been back until this week. It's still good. But the stakes have been raised in Atlanta on quality since then while little has changed here. You order and pick up at the counter and seat yourself. Both my pimento cheese and dining companion's BLT were classic renditions, tasty and generously portioned. Nice to have the option of a half sandwich (around $4 for halves, $6-7 for whole). We both had vegetable pasta salad on the side. Fine, although very heavy on the mayo. Wheat bread looked and tasted like grocery store ordinary. BLT was not toasted (maybe our fault in ordering). Higher quality bread would take these sandwiches from good to great. And why not something like romaine or field greens instead of iceberg lettuce in the green salads? It took over 20 minutes and extra questioning to finally get the very simple order. Other customers were also complaining about the wait. We formed a little support group in the pick up area. Me and half-ham-on-pumpernickel really bonded. I guess shared low blood sugar does that to you. The large covered patio makes for a pleasant place to eat on nice days. Atmosphere inside is purely functional. I'd go back, but wouldn't drive out of the way.

  • Jessica M.

I guess it's not safe to assume that a place has high quality standards just because they have the word "gourmet" or spells shop with 2 Ps and an E. You know how I came to the conclusion? There was hair in my food. Yep. Hair fried INTO my shrimp and baked INTO my loaf of bread. I wish I could've had a great experience like the rest of you, but that ish is just unforgivable, especially on my first try. :(

  • Bob S.

Very simple. Club sandwich, mac. salad and lemon cake. Done! homerun. Why would anyone go to Jasons or a sub shop when you can have a wonderful sandwich from wrights!

    (5)
  • Christina A.

I've had their sandwiches on multiple occasions since the people at my work love to order from here whenever the opportunity arises. My favorite sandwich is the Golden Gate. It's the perfect blend of sweetness from the chutney and the saltiness from the bacon. It's also a pretty big portion, and I usually can only eat half the sandwich. If you choose to dine-in, the wait will be slightly longer than you might expect. Also, the cupcakes are just decent. They are not the gourmet cupcakes that you normally think of when you hear "cupcake."

  • Russ A.

The food here is phenomenal and super fresh! It's a must and get the original the first time, turkey salad with bacon, avocado, lettuce and tomato. Edit 05/10/2013: Been back here many many times since this review and the 5 stars still stands. I just forget to check-in. :) Went to another nice sandwich shop today and it's on par with Wright's but I gave them 4 stars because Wright's is better priced for the same quality of food.

    (5)
  • Alyssa M.

For the same price as a fast food meal, you can get a delicious, healthy, and fresh sandwich or salad at Wrights. I love the cucumber sandwich or the pimento cheese. There are so many different choices, that there is definitely something for every appetite. Don't miss out on the cupcakes or a cream cheese brownie for dessert. Wrights is a counter service restaurant with limited indoor seating. At peak lunch hours, the line goes out the door!

This place has a quiet comfortable feel. The menu is mostly two huge blackboards ; one for salads, the other is for sandwiches. There a lot of choices, including some uncommon names. I have been looking for a great tuna sandwich in Atlanta and had a feeling that I had hit the jackpot at Wright's. I ordered the tuna melt with Swiss cheese on an onion roll. While I waited about 10-12 minutes for my sandwich, I gave in and bought a slice of carrot cake. All of the deserts looked really great. BTW, the lady who took my order offered my a drink of water while I waited. This small gesture always wins me over. I get my sandwich and discover "This thing is huge". I take a bite. It's full of tuna salad, cheese and crunchy bits of celery. It's good. But, it's missing on very important ingredient. In my opinion, tuna salad sandwiches should be made with albacore tuna. So,in a "gourmet" shop, I am expecting only albacore tuna salad. That is why Wright's did not get a 5 star rating. The carrot cake was so moist and not too sweet. Definately some of the best carrot cake that I have ever had.

No sure what everyone loves about this place. For me it's nothing special. Not someplace I get excited about. It's fine.

  • Michael B.

If you're looking for a sandwich look no further. Very nice outdoor patio and a few tables inside. Very pleasant service at the counter. Not really expecting great service in a sandwich shop where you serve yourself, but the people here are very nice. In terms of food, great desserts and salads, but it's all about the sandwiches here. We've tried probably 4-5 different one, the best one by FAR is the Muffuletta. Gooey cheesey goodness, good amount meat, just enough veggies and great bread. Seriously, probably my favorite sandwich ANYWHERE. I would also recommend the Lemonade Cake. Really light and tasty dessert, but let me just say one more time in closing MUFFULETTA!

    (5)
  • Melanie L.

I go out of my way and drive to Wright's Gourmet when craving a Tuna sandwich! Best in Atlanta. It's crunchy with celery and onions mixed with sweet from the raisins and maybe a chutney. They serve it on Pumpernickel. Yum! The sandwich is huge and 1/2 will fill you up especially if you add a seven layer square bar or a piece of lemonade cake with it. Definitely recommend Wright's great selection for everyone.

  • Alex H.

Now that I've been here a few times I can say with certainty that there's some real joy here. The Cuban is seriously good and a decent substitute for those who miss Kool Korners. It's not quite as good, but significantly better than most I've had elsewhere while trying to fill that hole. They prepare it with ham, roast pork, and mojo on the proper crusty Cuban bread. They they toast and press it perfectly. The homemade cakes are perfect and traditional. The lemonade cake it tangy sweet with a hint of tart. The Coca Cola cake would make grandma proud.

I was hoping they would read these reviews and learn, but I guess as long as the crowds keep coming and not knowing what they were missing regarding the wonderful sandwiches they used to serve, mediocrity is acceptable. I gave this establishment one last try this past July. NAH....worse than my last trip. Chicken sandwich was just gummy tasting like it came out of a container. Didn't even get a pickle.... My friend also ordered a broccoli salad and was trying to eat it when she noticed that it didn't look like broccoli...but lettuce. She took it back up front and asked the cashier where the broccoli was in her salad. His snide remark was " we ran out of broccoli"....so here was a salad being sold as such but only having shredded lettuce in it....She was charged for broccoli and didn't get a refund or a "sorry"....we pulled one over on you.. Ok...I'm done with this place...At one time it was the best and now it has sunk to the bottom..unless you want to spend $$$ for a mediocre lunch....go elsewhere...

Need a sandwich in Dunwoody...go to Wright's they'll fix you right up. Wright's has been serving up sandwiches and desserts for years. They have a loyal following and getting here during the lunch rush can include a bit of a weight for your lunch. If you want selection, stand in line. They'll make a sandwich to your order or you can select from their menu (numerous choices). There are a number of bread options, meat and cheese options, condiments and sides to select from. And each sandwich is custom made. You can order a whole or a half. The Rebel Ruben (turkey pastrami) is always a favorite. I've found the soups to be hit or miss. Wasn't crazy about the gazpacho on a recent visit - it was very tame and lacked any kind of zing. Don't leave without trying one of their cakes or cupcakes; the buttercream frosting is divine. Better yet, take a whole a home for your next family gathering!

The perfect local deli. Family owned and operated with stellar staff. Many great classic sandwiches with twists that add that "something extra" to your experience. Wonderful desserts and bakery items and sides. We love sitting outside and enjoying the day relaxing with great food. Definitely becoming a regular spot for us.

Wrights is a great spot to grab lunch in the Dunwoody area. They specialize in various sandwiches and also have salads and some sweet treats available. I've only gotten take-out from here and it has always been the Rebel Reuben which is a turkey reuben on pumpernickel. Delicious and filling sammich! You can get a half sandwich for about $4.25 or so and a whole around $7-8, depending on the sandwich. Go whole hog and get the whole thing. You can always save it for dinner. Try not to come during the usual "lunch rush" for most places. That tends to be the noon hour. Wait times can get ridiculous but they are making everything to order. I stopped in recently after an appt in the area and it was around 1. I was delighted with glee to see there was nobody in line and the lunch crowd dispersed quite a bit. I still had people after me getting their order before me. So for me, I can't win here when it comes to wait times but the sandwiches keep me coming back.

My experience with Wrights Gourmet was quite interesting. I adore tuna melts and I was excited to try Wright's based on the reviews and pictures. I had a tuna melt craving one days and I googled, "tuna melt Atlanta" and Wright's popped up. It was perfect since it was only a mile away from the office. I ordered the tuna melt with macaroni salad. My colleague got the fried chicken sandwich. The tuna melt was really sweet and it had big chunks of celery. The bread was a tad burnt but I still ate it. It wasn't terrible but I really didn't want a sweet sandwich. I like celery but not huge chunks in a tuna melt. The macaroni salad was very bland. My colleagues sandwich was pretty good as I cut off a small corner because I never go to lunch without trying my dining companions food if allowed. I also got a slice of the lemonade cake because of the reviews and I never turn down any lemon desserts for any reason. It was scrumptiously delicious and have been back twice since with friends to indulge in that super moist heavenly treat. The menu at Wrights has a ton of options and every time I've been during lunch they have a packed house. The prices are pretty reasonable for sandwich shop. The sandwiches range from about $4-6.00 or so dollars. While I will not get the tuna melt, I would like to try one of the other sandwiches on the menu. Five stars for the cake. Two stars for the tuna melt.

I went to Wright's for lunch with a friend of mine and Max (that's my baby boy) semi-recently. I think it may have been a couple months ago now. Not positive, because baby-brain has destroyed any semblance of a memory or concept of time. Anyway, it was my first visit to Wright's in a long, long time. However, I did eat there now and again when I was growing up in Dunwoody. It was solid then and solid now. Nice counter staff who told me how cute my baby was and served us quickly. Delicious sweet tea. It had a twist to it, maybe mint? I can't remember anymore, but there was something atypical about it. My sammich was a muffuletta. It was tasty. I remember it having a lot of cheese and being kind of messy to eat with one hand while trying to hold a baby. That's my fault for having a kid who doesn't like to sit in his car seat, not the restaurant's. I had a side of broccoli salad that was also yummy. For dessert, I ordered a slice of the lemonade cake. It was nice and moist but reallllllly sweet. I like sweet, so that's cool, but just be forewarned. No complaints here.

They have very unique sandwiches here. Muffaletta is unlike any I've ever had before but pretty good. Rebel rueben us great. Sweet tea leaves much to be desired. Sides are hit and miss.

I am always tempted to got to Wrights. The salads are great the bread is fresh but the line is painful and there is no seating for 1 to speak of. I feel like if I go enough times this place would become a favorite, but I don't care for the vibe somehow.

Lemon Pound Cake is great! Love the club sandwich (fresh and big). Meat loaf sandwich is really something special. If you go at noon be ready to wait in line. It is worth the wait.

First of all, I'm a sandwich guy. It works both ways. I'm gonna like it generally speaking, but i'm also gonna be critical about details. On a recommendation, I ventured into a posh Dunwoody shopping plaza, a far cry from my usual Buford Hwy haunts. When a place has the audacity to call themselves a "gourmet" sandwich shop, you better deliver. Dropped by at 1230, had some trouble finding parking so i was worried about a line at the counter. No such trouble, the counter is clear and i wondered to myself, "is that good or bad?" However, the tables are packed. Very good sign. Two blackboards with all my options laid out with size and price behind the counter. I literally have "soup nazi" panic with all my choices and you never know about these mom and pop places and how they do things. Apparently my timing is perfect as a line begins to take form just minutes after my order goes in. Ah, the food. Being my first time, i ordered a second sandwich as well just to get more data. The first one was a Napa sandwich, turkey, spinach, blue cheese and granny smith apples. Pretty tasty and non-traditional. I wouldn't get it again, but i didn't regret it either. As i was waiting for my order to be packed togo, an earlier customer came forward to get his dine in meal. It was a HUGE onion roll stacked with good stuff. Quietly, i uttered a Bart Simpson regretful "awwwww", i wish i ordered THAT one, whatever it was. To my surprise and delight, my second sandwich was indeed a replica of the one I coveted. The fried chicken club was the sandwich, and it was awesome. I am so weak....The red velvet cupcake somehow ended up on my ticket so i paid for it and brought it home. I'll just keep this simple. It was really good. Bravo. A sandwich that will rival my homemade version. Pricey but not as much as Taco Mac or sushi for lunch. I am researching their website to develop my strategy for ordering at my next visit.

Good Cuban sandwich (best in Dunwoody), good bread meat and pickle, but could use just a touch more mojo sauce.

oh wrights! i love you so! this place knows how to make a sandwich. i've had the fried chicken club and glenda's garden (veggie) sandwiches and my fiance is in love with the blue max. i love that they have the option of getting your sandwich on cuban bread, my fave. we try to remember to go on saturdays because they're closed on sundays. it's always pretty busy, but they have a lot of tables outside that are in the shade and we can usually find a spot to sit. i pretty much always have half a sandwich to take home because they make them big. they have some nice looking desserts, but i'm always too full to try one. mmm, mmm, mmm! wright's is sooooo right!

This sandwich shop nestled into a local shopping center in Dunwoody just north of Atlanta is a huge favorite of locals. Having been around for a long long time the offerings here are diverse. Whether you want a Cuban sandwich was pretty darn good or the Ruben which I thought was DELICIOUS you cant go wrong! The macaroni salad was recommended however, a few too many onions for my liking. They include cubes of cheddar cheese in the macaroni salad which I though was pretty unique but didn't help overcome the oniony flavor which overwhelmed the plate. Prices were reasonable and I will definitely return to try something else.

Tried the cuban sandwich today with macaroni salad. The pressed cuban was pretty good. Not too much mustard or mayo. The meat was sliced very thin and the bread was very good. The sandwich size was a little bigger than I anticipated. The macaroni salad was excellent. Good balance of the peppers, celery, cheese, tomatoes and cheddar. The cheese had a nice, sharp bite to it which I thought worked well with the other ingredients. Not the best sandwich ever, but certainly worth a repeat visit.

Been here a couple of times for lunch. It's a mom and pop sandwich place. Although it's not small by any means. They have a lot of choices and I guess I need to try a few more before I can give them a fair shake. Right now the couple of sandwiches I've had have been decent. Others have loved the portabello sandwich which I'll have to try next time I go.

I have been dining at Wright's Gourmet since they were located on the other side of Dunwoody! Honestly, I can't think of a better sandwich anywhere!! I am totally addicted to the Glenda's Garden sandwich...and I have turned many friends onto my favorite sandwich, too! Their pumpernickel bread is delicious and the sandwich is always perfect! Nellie knows exactly how I love my sandwich made....she has worked there for 12 years! This if my #1 favorite lunch spot....to eat in...or take out. It's a real 'Dunwoody happening!' This is THE place to be seen if you live in or near Dunwoody. :)

This place is fantastic, and no one ever seems to know about it? The sandwich's are amazing, its perfect for the yuppie sand which lover, aka sandwiches that come with peach chutney or horseradish sauces. The ambiance is not great at all, but they do have outdoor seating which is nice. This really is more of a "pick up" type of place, you do order at a counter etc. My favorites the Muffeletta and the classic sandwich. Totally worth grabbing food. You can also get the salads etc to go, like Chicken salad or whatever.

I love this place! I have stopped in many times and I usually order the club on wheat or the muffaletta. Both sandwiches are great. They are always busy at lunch. Next time I'm buying a cupcake! They look so good...

Ok, I admit I'm a sandwich guy. Love them. Could eat them for almost every meal every day. You will not find a better sandwich shop in greater Atlanta. Some of my favorites: Muffeletta, Monte Cristo, Reuben, and Martini. Don't waste your time on chips you can buy at the local supermarket. Their side dishes are homemade. Try the potato salad, pimento cheese, Waldorf, and shrimp. If you like soups, then you will love Wright's. And, you can also pick up a pint of your favorite soup already packaged for you to carry home. Did I mention their baked goods? They are to die for. Brownies and lemon bars are my favorites. The cakes are great too. In fact, I pick up whole cakes when I have guests coming over, or when celebrating a special birthday. The coconut is my favorite, but the Black Russian, carrot, cappuccino chocolate, and hummingbird are excellent choices also. Take a friend. Enjoy yourself. But get there early or be prepared to wait.

Great place for lunch! I love their Glenda's garden sandwich and their pasta salad. The key lime pie is also great too. It's usually pretty busy, but I don't have a problem with the line because the food makes it worth it! The first time I had the sandwich it was absolutely perfect. Second time around, they slapped too much sauce on the bread, making my bread a bit soggy. But nonetheless, I still love the sandwich and would visit again.

only reason it's 4 instead of 5 stars is that the prices could be lower & their restaurant report card isn't as high as it could be. this little gem in Dunwoody is worth the visit. it has some fun sandwich choices, as well as the regular favorites like turkey. they always have a variety of sides (as well as chips) and desserts. some bottled IBC rootbeer too! friendly staff and food always tastes delicious. when it's cooler out, there are some tables & chairs to eat outside. i heard they cater as well. check this place out for lunch and don't forget to get your bread toasted! yum!

This is one of the best kept secrets in Atlanta (even though technically it's in Dunwoody). I have tried to recommend this place to Zagat time and again so that it will get more notice, but to no avail. Seriously, top 3 sandwich places in Atlanta - up there with Alon's and maybe Souper Jenny. Try the Rebel Ruben, the Cuban (hot) or my current summer favorite Glenda's Garden (on toasted pumpernickel). The salads are also quite tasty - pre-prepared, but always very fresh. And others have mentioned the desserts which are SO AMAZING. Any of the cakes with cream cheese frosting. Also the lemonade cake and the rum cake. And the seven layer bar. I've been to this place literally over a hundred times and have never once had a bad experience. I wish they would open a Buckhead or Midtown location, but they don't seem to be overly interested. They also cater great business lunches.

They use fresh ingredients so the sandwiches so the sandwiches definitely are higher quality. I got the Napa (turkey, $8.50). It was pretty good but not a great value for the size. It they gave a side it might feel like a better bargain. But it is a turkey sandwich so it tastes pretty similar to other places. Their other sandwiches like the Bahama Baby looks much more appetizing but it looks pretty fatty b/c of the ham, pork, bacon, and cheese combo. They have a few inside seating but they have double the seating right outside. They also serve some fruits and salads for extra cost and cakes, which I'm guessing are pre-order. Overall, it's a good sandwich shop but the bargain isn't great but I would recommend it.

Horrible service! My boyfriend and I came on my lunch break and walked in to this predominantly white establishment and was told our food wouldn't be ready for 20 mins. 20 mins came and went and people who came after us were served before us. He went to the cash register to inform the lady at the register that we will not be staying we'd take it to go- she didn't give him a time frame of how much longer our food would be but at 12:50 he went back to tell her we'll take a refund and leave. Viola, our food was ready and bagged in her hand! We left so that I would not be late for work but I did call and speak with the owner/manager John Wright and he did apologize and offer a complimentary meal, but my boyfriend and I have agreed that we will never patronize this 1877-Jim Crow-era setting restaurant again. Spend your $20 and opportunity cost elsewhere for a gourmet sandwich.

The salads and desserts are great, too.

great sandwiches!! perfect for lunch and everything is fresh! the mufelleta sandwich was amazing! I would highly recommend that. then their homemade fresh sides are really nice too! Mac salad, veggie salad, fruit salad, and many more options! plus they had huge home made buttercream frosted cupcakes for dessert! yum :) definitely stop for lunch!

I cannot adequately describe how slow and rude the service is. You will wait 30 minutes for a sandwich. The food is pretty decent but not worth the lack of service and wait. When our food was finally ready, my order was wrong--but waiting another long time for my correct order didn't seem like it was worth it.

Arrrrhhh

The food here is phenomenal and super fresh! It's a must and get the original the first time, turkey salad with bacon, avocado, lettuce and tomato. Edit 05/10/2013: Been back here many many times since this review and the 5 stars still stands. I just forget to check-in. :) Went to another nice sandwich shop today and it's on par with Wright's but I gave them 4 stars because Wright's is better priced for the same quality of food.

Very simple. Club sandwich, mac. salad and lemon cake. Done! homerun. Why would anyone go to Jasons or a sub shop when you can have a wonderful sandwich from wrights!

I love this place! I have stopped in many times and I usually order the club on wheat or the muffaletta. Both sandwiches are great. They are always busy at lunch. Next time I'm buying a cupcake! They look so good...

I feel like if I go enough times this place would become a favorite, but I don't care for the vibe somehow.

oh wrights! i love you so! this place knows how to make a sandwich. i've had the fried chicken club and glenda's garden (veggie) sandwiches and my fiance is in love with the blue max. i love that they have the option of getting your sandwich on cuban bread, my fave. we try to remember to go on saturdays because they're closed on sundays. it's always pretty busy, but they have a lot of tables outside that are in the shade and we can usually find a spot to sit. i pretty much always have half a sandwich to take home because they make them big. they have some nice looking desserts, but i'm always too full to try one. mmm, mmm, mmm! wright's is sooooo right!

  • Todd F.

  • Mike O.

Really good sandwiches. They have seating inside and also out on the front patio.
