Baldinos Giant Jersey Subs

Reviews:
I love Baldino's!! The bread is dee-lish-us!!! The meat is fresh sliced for your sandwich and the toppings are always fresh. The spaghetti and meatballs is a family favorite. We have served the party sub several times and it's a great deal and everyone gets what they want. If you're debating to go or not, just go ahead and go. You won't be disappointed.
I really love the sandwiches here! They're very generous when it comes to the serving sizes - a half sandwich was PLENTY for me. I recommend asking them to toast your sandwich - even if it's not in the hot sandwich menu. I've had their sandwiches hot and cold and they are significantly better hot. I also recommend getting the daily special, if it's something you'll eat. You get a bag of chips or cup of soup plus a BIG half sandwich for about 4 bucks. Seriously. You can't beat it. The only downside to this place is the fact that there's zero atmosphere. It doesn't even feel like a quirky hole in the wall. It just kind of feels like a high school cafeteria. Warning - the sandwiches can take a little while to make. They slice the meat fresh for each one. But it really is great!
This is a no nonsense subshop. The menu offered a wide variety of selections. I got the Italian 6 inch and my friend got the daily special (6 inch turkey sub). Both were AWESOME.. they reminded me of NY or NJ style subs. The only thing negative I really have to say about this place is that it was a little dirty (napkins strewn about, marks on the walls, debris on floor) and the gentleman that took our order seemed rude, extremely uninterested in answering our questions and in a big hurry when aside from one other customer we were the only ones in there.

I Luv Pho

5145 Buford Hwy NE
Doraville, 30340
Reviews:
Definitely not your typical pho restaurant, which is exactly what attracted me to this place. I found this spot on yelp and immediately grabbed my husband and to Pho we went. From the outside, it looked crowded as the parking lot was filled with cars and people being dropped off at the door, but we found a parking space at the front and went in without an issue. Went inside and there was maybe a 5-10min wait for a table which was expected for a Sunday I guess. Inside is actually very nice. Old decor and what I think was a spiral staircase in the corner lol but nonetheless, nice. Anyway, we were seated at a table with a family was waiting right before us. The waiter gave us water and immediately took our order and even recommended some dishes (no issues here even with the language barrier). The good: the food came out super fast. Barely a wait. We got the regular size pho - husband got shrimp, I got the beef. The portion for the regular is HUGE! I can only imagine the size of the large. But omg it was sooo good! I think it's $7 or $9 but man is it worth it. We got the shrimp rolls and shrimp ragoo (hubby likes shrimp lol). I'm not a fan of shrimp rolls so I didn't care for it by my husband ate it with no problem. But omg the shrimp ragoo...AHmazing! We loved it so much that we ordered another plate and they even gave us more in qty than the first lol. It was that good! Oh and the fresh lemonade was really good. On the sweet side and a lot of ice but we loved that also. Everything tasted great. Now to the bad: it's not THAT bad really, but after you get your food, they disappear. We had to wave down multiple waiters to get someone to come back and refill our waters. Also, the family that we sat with *face palm*...ok so they put everything in the middle of the table so you're ultimately sharing with the the family at the same table. No problem except that the lady next to me kept putting her trash right on the utensils! Not the restaurant's fault but I think that it would help to maybe separate the utensils so that there isn't any reaching across or cross contamination due to *cough cough* messy people. Other than that, no complaints. We loved it and plan to visit again.
I love "I love Pho". Love at the first visit. Need I say more? Ok, if you insist. The largest size of the noodle soup is for four people. But they will give you small bowls to serve yourself and you can eat the rest for lunch and dinner the next day. I respect restaurants more when you ask for veggie soup and it actually comes laden with tons of veggies (in chicken broth but they told me beforehand). We also tried the summer rolls (nice, not extraordinary but huge) and a chicken fried rice that was out of this world. Might I add, wonderful staff, very friendly and efficient. It's just a year old on Buford highway but has franchisee owned locations elsewhere that are 4-5 year old. My favorite Vietnamese restaurant now. I love Pho - please don't change.
I was at Sweet Hut when I noticed something happening across the street - they were installing the 'I Luv Pho' sign. Yay! I've been to their Jimmy Carter location a few times in the wee hours of the night and had always wished they'd open a location closer in-town - realistically, Doraville is probably as close as it's gonna get. In terms of decor, this is probably the nicest pho restaurant there is on Buford Highway, there's a winding staircase that leads upstairs to managerial offices? More seating? I couldn't really tell. Not to mention the huge, fancy schmancy chandelier above the entrance, and glittery floral wallpaper lining the walls. Pros: The service here is quick. As soon as we walked in the waiter "greeted" us with a quick "Two?" and showed us to a table, a few seconds later he wordlessly dropped off two menus and two glasses of water. He returned a few minutes later to take our orders, I went first and chose one of their clay pot entrees, he said there were none available today and (again) walked off wordlessly - I presume to give me more time to decide. I don't know, he could've at least taken the BF's order. He returned about five minutes later to re-take our orders. The BF and I both chose pho, he had the (large) brisket and filet mignon, while I had the filet mignon and flank (small). The pho came out fairly quickly, it took just a few minutes. It was good pho, the protein was good, and the broth hit the spot. Cons: The entire time we ate, our server never came back to check on us or provide refills. We noticed our receipt on the edge of the table when we finished eating. (To pay you take your receipt to the register). Overall, the pho was decent, I'd definitely come back for pho after hours, otherwise I think I'll stick with Pho Dai Lai or Nam Phuong - their pho is better as well as their service.

Krispy Kreme

5768 Buford Hwy NE
Doraville, 30340
Reviews:
Krispy Kreme's Doraville location opened October 2013 on Buford Highway OTP (outside the perimeter) next to Chick-fil-A, near Buford Highway Farmers Market. This store is one of metro Atlanta's newest Krispy Kreme locations. It's in its own standalone building, as many Krispy Kremes are, in a relatively compact and aesthetically pleasing space. There's a convenient drive-thru and uncovered outdoor seating. Since this is a newer Krispy Kreme store, its design feels a bit more modern with big glass windows, bright lighting at night, and a streamlined layout. Old school elements remain however, such as the foldable Krispy Kreme paper hats. Compared to a store location like Midtown (Ponce), the doughnut assembly line here feels smaller. The glass display windows are still there though, so you can take a peek and watch the doughnuts get dipped, fried, glazed, and boxed/bagged. The constant stream of melted icing flowing from the machine always looks so delicious (and also incredibly unhealthy). My favorite Krispy Kreme doughnut remains the original glazed doughnut. They taste most delicious if you get them hot off the line or right out of the microwave. If microwaving, the store recommends heating for 8 seconds in the microwave. They taste almost as good out of the microwave as getting them boxed fresh. So unless you want a fresh original glazed doughnut right then and there, you don't have to worry too much about the neon red "Hot Now" sign being on. Doughnuts are made fresh everyday. When hot/warm, the original glazed doughnut melts in your mouth. Chewing is effortless. Other classics and reliable standbys for me include the chocolate iced glazed with sprinkles (glazed doughnut topped with chocolate icing and colorful sprinkles) and the glazed cruller, which is a twisted and glazed cake doughnut that has a more traditional heavier and denser consistency. Be on the lookout for limited flavors that are available from time to time. I tried the "Mocha Kreme" doughnut (which may no longer be available by the time you read this review). It's a chocolate and coffee-flavored doughnut with mocha and milk chocolate icing. It was incredibly good. Pricing can vary from store to store. At this store, as of July 7, 2015 (tax included): One original glazed doughnut: $1.06 One assorted flavor doughnut: $1.16* *New Birthday Cake Batter or Brownie Batter doughnut: $1.38 One dozen original glazed doughnuts: $8.01 One dozen assorted flavor doughnuts: $9.08 Service is fast and friendly and the store is clean. Most doughnuts are ready to go immediately. If the "Hot Now" sign is on and you're ordering original glazed doughnuts, you can always request fresh ones directly off the line, so don't be afraid to ask. Did you know: Krispy Kreme was founded in Winston-Salem, North Carolina? (Next door to my hometown of High Point.)
Growing up in Jersey, there are a million and one Dunkin Donuts around so, I didn't get to taste Krispy Kreme until I came to the south. I'm still loyal to Dunkin and love their Donuts but nothing quite tastes like Krispy. They're overly sweet but that's why you only need one or two. This particular location is always a pleasure to visit. I always go through the drive thru but the window attendants are always friendly. Whenever I come here (or ride by) their "HOT NOW" light is always on, as well. I don't have any complaints.... Well... I guess my only complaint is you really can't just eat ONE and there's no telling how many calories are in a single donut but hey, what can you do with this great taste and fluffiness in your mouth? LOL. Make sure you work out whenever you eat some of these donuts. lol

Yen Jing

5302 Buford Hwy,Ste A6
Doraville, 30340
Reviews:
When my Korean family members want to go out and eat Chinese food, they don't really want Chinese-Chinese food. They want Korean style Chinese food. For this, we head over to Yen Jing on Buford Highway when they are in town visiting. We typically order the following: Steamed dumplings Pan fried dumplings Jja jang myun (noodles with a black bean sauce) Jjang pong (spicy seafood soup with noodles) Mapo tofu Sweet and sour pork Mongolian beef It's pretty average as far as the food goes. It's not usually that crowded whenever we are there. I will echo everyone else and say that the salt and MSG content is very high here.
If you want to time warp back to 80's in Chinatown...come to Yen Jing (refer to Daniel B's review). Yen Jin is a solid choice to come for their ja-jjang myun (black bean sauce and noodles) or their jang-bong (seafood, spicy noodle soup). There are repeat Korean customers because of these two noodle bowls. If I were to introduce anybody to ja-jjang myun, I would take them to this restaurant. The sauce is good and has beef and shrimp in it as well. I also ordered their kkang-pung-ki (fried braised chicken). Came out piping hot and fried just right, maybe it was slightly too sweet for my taste. Service was decent. The waitress was really cute ;-) I noticed that the crowd inside was pretty diverse. I pretty good mixture of Asians and Caucasians. I always stay within the Korean section of the menu. I'll have to venture out as I saw non-Asians ordering other types of Chinese food.
Yen Jing is one of the older Chinese restaurants in town. The furniture and decor inside looks like it hasn't been replaced since they first opened many moons ago. When you enter, it's like stepping into a time warp back to the 1980s. Even the sign outside has their phone number posted with no area code because back then, you didn't need to dial an area code! Yen Jing specializes in northern Chinese cuisine and serves many of the same dishes as their competitor, Chef Liu, across the street. Their menu also includes several Korean items so they get their fare share of Korean clientele (e.g. kimchi is served as a standard appetizer here). I've tried a variety of their dishes including their jellyfish, pig feet, and "five flavor" pork appetizers, steamed pork dumplings, seafood soup, and braised chicken. Overall, the dishes are just not that appetizing. The appetizers, served cold, were not very fresh. The seafood soup was bland - it was like throwing a bunch of fish, squid, mussels, and vegetables together and boiling them in water. The pork dumplings and braised chicken were okay. The braised chicken tasted almost like chicken you'd get from a Chinese takeout joint or mall food court (heavy with sweet sauce). We visited during peak dinner hours on a Friday night and business was really slow for the restaurant. The owners were very friendly and we got impeccable service. The food just left a lot to be desired. Hope this place survives. Yen Jing is located on the bottom level of a strip mall across from Mozart Bakery on Buford Highway.

We did not eat here but ordered a whole roasted pig( medium size/ 50 lbs) It was for my sons confirmation celebration. Everyone loved it!!! The skin was very crispy and meat was very moist. I am from the Philippines and somewhat critical of how lechon/ whole roasted pig is prepared!!!
The food is pretty good here. The honey roasted BBQ pork is really good as was the black bean chicken ($7). You get a lot for the price. Only thing that annoyed me was the waitress asked if I wanted my rice on the plate or on a separate plate ( I assumed to keep it separate from the sauce and oil of the food). I asked for a separate plate of rice and it ended of adding another $1 to the price. Not a big amount but I don't eat much rice and I got a softball amount. The service was typical but super fast. The place is surprisingly small for such a popular place but can probably hold around 60 or so. They keep it pretty well maintained. They only take cash or credit as well. Overall, I would recommend the place.
So I didn't actually eat in Ming's Bar B Que, but we did get some food to go and it was fantastic. Here's the deal: a girlfriend of mine had helped organize this BuHi Pop Up Patio in an abandoned lot adjacent to the shopping center Ming's is in, so a group of us went there on a Saturday night to eat and hang out and support her efforts. When we all arrived there were about 10 or so people and we decided to get a combo of Ming's and La Mei Zi (next door) and share amongst everyone. My fiance and I and my girlfriend and her husband all went to Ming's and ordered what didn't sound like a ton of food, but turned out to be. We got a 3-meat combo: honey roast BBQ pork, roast BBQ pork and pork spareribs, which comes with rice and greens, a 2-meat combo: honey roast pork and roast duck, and a side of honey roast pork (see a pattern yet?). The portion's turned out to be very generous and I highly recommend everything we got - especially the honey roast pork. And even for all this food, the bills were really reasonable and the people working there were very nice. I will definitely make a point of stopping by Ming's in the future if we're on our way to Sweet Hut.

The server marcus is fabulous. Everytime I go to waffle house and he is there it is the most pleasant experience. He is a ball of sunshine!
Awful. Not only did they mess my order up twice, my sandwich only had half the bacon it was supposed to have (and on half the sandwich) plus my sandwich was soaked in grease. Workers here are more concerned with their personal conversations than getting your order right. Horrible in every way.
Not one of the better WH establishments. Adam, the waiter, was great but the cook sure was a grouch!! The coke machine was out of service, lemons were rotten, eggs and toast over cooked and waffle undercooked. I certainly can deal, but just not ideal to have all those items so poorly done. Won't be returning to this location for my breakfast fix!
