Found this gem on the way back to Atlanta from a visit to North Georgia. Stopped here for breakfast and was so impressed. I had wonderful dried beef on Texas toast, grits and a perfect sunny side up egg. Of course I could not eat it all. My sweetie had a scrumptious waffle, egg and some of the best bacon he has experienced. We sat at the bar and watched the staff as we ate. The restaurant stayed busy while we there and seemed to work like a well oiled machine. Everyone was friendly and pitched in to help each other. And the food is beyond inexpensive. I want to bring homeless people here so we could feed them an immense amount of food for a low cost. There is a really nice family vibe to the place. They have many family pictures including the adorable great grand children of "Papa". We took a cinnamon roll home and just split it for dessert after our dinner. WOW!!! It was fantastic. Don't miss this very warm and delicious restaurant if you are in Dawsonville.

We are quite excited we finally tried this place out. It may possibly become one of our favorite "go to" for breakfast, lunch or dinner as there aren't many restaurants in Cumming/Dawsonville area we really love. I had the chipped-beef on Texas Toast. It was delicious, but not quite sure why it came w/ 4 pieces of toast & grits on the side and an egg... A little over-the-top in heavy carbs considering I couldn't even finish half the chipped-beef & gravy. Think I would have enjoyed some fresh fruit or something lighter on the side. It was a huge portion in and of itself. Hubby had the skillet breakfast and said he would definitely come back for that alone. Place was very busy entire time we were there. Staff was nice but they were very busy so not so friendly. I am sure just trying to get everyone in & out. Oh! The homemade cinnamon rolls are to die for! We will soon try the lunch/dinner menu and will let you know if as outstanding as the breakfast!

Family had called to reserve a table. We get there and there is FILTHY table covered in food And dirty dishes with a reserved sign on it! We had to stand there and wait 10 minutes for them To clean it. After having the worst service ever, and waiting for an HOUR for our food, while other tables that came in after us were served and left and served AGAIN, we FINALLY got food. Well I say WE, but it was everyone else EXCEPT me! She said she forgot to put in my salad. Then I had to wait 20 minutes for a SALAD, that was totally crappy, while my whole family ate. The bathrooms were DISGUSTING! If I could give this place NEGATIVE 5 stars, I totally would. Terrible service and terrible food and gross place in general. Save your money and stay away.

Excellent food, friendly staff - Diane was great - and a wide selection of menu items. Unfortunately, I don't live close, but will make it a point to come back whenever I'm in the area on business!

We stopped in to have breakfast after Church. It was crowded but tables seemed to move. Our food took awhile but our waitress was very nice. Food was good. Had eggs, bacon, waffle, and tater tots. Bacon could have been cooked more but other than that it was a pleasurable dining experience.

They have very good food and a nice little family place. One problem is when you walk in nobody let's you know to either sit where you want or to follow them. Also, it took 15 minintes to get our food.

This is an awesome family owned restaurant. They have good old fashioned southern food that reminds me of eating at grandma's house. The service is super friendly and quick. Breakfast is served all day and they also have lunch and dinner as well. Do yourself a favor and avoid the crappy chain restaurants like Waffle House an IHOP, they are just mass produced crap. If you want food cooked with love, try Pappa's Place!

Upon walking into Papa's, I realize that there is a cool atmosphere. The menu is very sparse. however the food is excellent. I ordered the chipped beef with egg and grits. The egg was cooked perfectly along with the grits. I thoroughly enjoyed the friendliness of the staff. You can definitely tell that there's a family atmosphere. The pictures on the wall create a happy go lucky family attitude about eating together and such as a family would. I enjoyed my experience here and will return again if I find myself in Dawsonville in the future.

My 80 year old mother and I stopped in here taking a chance. We were so happy we did. It's a tiny meat and 2 with daily specials. The staff is so friendly and when you walk in the door it just feels like home. I ordered a bbq chicken sandwich. It was really some of the best bbq I've had in this area. My green beans were cooked and seasoned perfectly and I'll be dreaming of those mashed potatoes for some time to come. It's right across from the North Georgia Premium Outlet mall so don't miss an opportunity to stop in here. You won't regret it!

Excellent, friendly service, just like you'd expect at your own papa's place. I don't know who this papa is, but he's the bomb! We had delicious food that was exactly what we ordered, and with breakfast specials for $3.49 (including coffee!), we can eat here every week. This is our new breakfast spot for Dawsonville!

This is a new, small, family restaurant just behind North Georgia Premium Outlet on the roundabout. I had lunch there the other day - country fried steak and 2 sides. The meal was excellent and it was a large serving. The staff were all very nice and the atmosphere relaxed and comfortable with customers chatting across the tables with each other. As I was leaving they told me not to forget my brownie - apparently the lunch includes one of their many baked goods - nice touch. This morning I stopped in for breakfast and wasn't disappointed. There was a nice menu selection and my breakfast was perfect. A couple eggs over easy, steak, grits, hash browns and a fresh baked, scratch biscuit - all washed down with a good cup of coffee. Dawsonville has needed a restaurant like this and Papa's Place looks like they'll be dong a fine job taking care of that need.

Papa's Place is exactly what you want it to be: country comfort food served quickly in a casual, friendly environment. Every day one has the option of enjoying one of the finest breakfasts in town and/or one of those meat & two lunches that have come to exemplify the quintessential diner experience in joints like this all across the American south. Eat here as soon as you can. You'll thank me later.

We just had the best breakfast experience. Wonderful food great service I can't say a bad thing about this cute little restaurant!!

  • Randy B.

Good place but a little cramped inside. The restaurant serves country cooking. The restaurant is mainly open for breakfast and lunch, with dinner being served on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. They do need to put up blinds in the windows to keep the morning sun from blinding the entire restaurant.

  • Zelim M.

Blahh... I at there today and had the country fried steak which was very bland. Nothing has much of a taste and everything needs more seasoning. Its almost as good as hospital food, which by the average age of their customers, maybe their target audience is senior citizens who can't eat spicy food. The wait staff also left a lot to be desired. It was very evident that my waitress didn't want to be there.
