The only 5 star restaurant in Columbus ga. Columbus is lacking severely in fine dining. The next best place is Red Lobster! I'm serious!

My husband and I spent our 25th Anniversary with the Chef's at Epic at the Chef's Table. They took amazing care of us and made sure our experience was truly EPIC. I would recommend everyone try this at least once. The professionalism and precision this staff put into each dish shows in the quality.

This place is elegant! Amazing food, the greatest service you could ask for! Pricey but worth every penny! A great place for a date or a romantic evening! If you could catch the pre-fixe menus it would a great way to sample what they offer. Really there are no words to describe this wonderful restaurant! Every time I have gone which this would be my 10th time, I have throughly enjoyed myself from beginning to end! It's a must go!!! Check it out, you won't be disappointed!

Probably the best meal I've had in Columbus. One of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at outside a major US city. Sophisticated staff and an adventurous menu. Great fresh fish.

Fantastic experience! The bar and Ryan the bartender/ mixologist are the best kept secret in Columbus. The drinks and appetizers are unbelievably good and well priced for the high quality you get. We stopped in for a quick drink and app on a Friday night at the bar. Instead we got a two and a half hour journey that none of us will soon forget. From the expertly crafted cocktails, to the delicious appetizers, then to the complimentary starters and dessert, then the personal tour of the kitchen and finally letting us experience their private patio overlooking the waterfall every step showed the entire staffs' pride and passion in giving you the best culinary experience of your life. Go for drinks and an appetizer, go for a romantic dinner, just go and experience this truly one of a kind restaurant.

My fiancé and I ate here for the second time last night, and it was even better than I remember. We had the tasting plate sampler to start. It's amazing how they get so many flavors in one little bite. Except for the lobster potsticker, all the samples were to die for!!! I am not a huge fan of Asian food, and the potsticker had a soy/teriyaki taste to it. For dinner I had the sugar seared sea bass - INCREDIBLE!!!!!! I have never had sea bass before, and I can't wait to eat it again! It was all I could do to keep from licking the dish clean. The sauce that it was in...I don't know how to describe it, but it was so good!!!! My fiancé had the aged sirloin, same as he had last time, which was perfect. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned. And of course, we can't forget the truffled mac & cheese! I want to figure out how to make this at home!!!! It's wonderful. The guy who prepared our food came out after we finished to ask how it was. I love how much pride they take in their work. I just can't say enough good things about Epic. I am so thankful that we finally have a restaurant of this caliber in Columbus. Beautiful atmosphere, beautiful artwork, beautiful everything. Once all of the wedding expenses are out of the way, we are going to be regular patrons.

No detail is spared from the ambiance to the final course, the utmost of care has been taken to create a true dining experience. Whether you are dining alone or with friends, it's easy to get lost in the foodie adventure that Epic provides. Each course displays the art of presentation as well as flavor. The complexity of flavors present not just in the food, but also in the array of cocktails mixed up by the Epic mixologist. All served up with the southern charm one expects to garnish the region. When you are not swooning over your delighted palate, you can take in the architectural delights of modern design melded with raw textile history, or reminisce over your literary favorites by perusing the cleverly crafted cocktail menu. The fabulous variety of culinary expertise makes Epic destination worthy, and a special treat for out of town guests.

The food was beyond anything I've ever experienced, the service was delightful and the ambiance was fabulous. The mixed drink was tasty, light and refreshing. Every item placed on the table was exquisite in taste and presentation. We had reservations at 5:30 on a Friday and enjoyed the fixed price menu. The options were plentiful and it was difficult to decide amongst all the great choices. I went with my husband and adult son to celebrate my birthday, and the staff made the event a true celebration. Our server Matt and everyone we encountered during the meal and kitchen tour was welcoming and friendly. I've dined at fine restaurants throughout the United States, and Epic out shined them all. If you find yourself in Columbus, treat yourself and enjoy this world class dining experience!

Made a reservation for a Father's Day gift for my husband. The place is gorgeous, calm, staff are friendly & have no problem with any requests at all. Overall great place. As for the food, it was good but not my style. I am a simple person & the food is on some upscale classy type shit. I didn't know what most of the menu was, so I just hose whatever & it was good but again, not my style. Our bill came around $200. If I'm paying $200 I expect for me to love my food, and want to come back & that's not the case. Was the restaurant appearance epic? Yes. Staff? Yes. The food? Not really. Overall great place & great food if you have certain tastes. If you are a simple person and just want good food at a good price, than I'd go elsewhere.

Amazing! Great atmosphere and wonderful food. We got there early and were able to choose items from the pre-fixe menu. Everything was great. This place is perfect for a date night or to celebrate a special occasion. It's fairly pricey so I wouldn't go every week but it is a must-visit in Columbus!

Service, ambiance, and food presentation is five stars. The food is average across the appetizers and main dishes. Fois Gras is probably sponsored by the state of CA because if you try one here, you would never want to eat one again. The fish and sides are average, most of them don't have much taste and keep their merit due to excessive use of oil. If you want a good food, I would go to Mabella down the street. Otherwise, It is kind of hard to find a good food in Columbus.

Went on valentines day and they had a special menu with limited options.... We ordered the 6 course meal and I'll just say this....THEY FORGOT OUR SALAD COURSE....seriously, who does that? Food was great, but how can you claim to be upscale dinning and can't get the course service correct? Everything the chef did to make the food unforgettable was upstaged by what can only be called a rookie move...epic was suppose to above and beyond in Columbus...only to prove its run of the mill(no pun intended).

We have been several times and the food is just as they state, epic! We have tried each of the menus and have enjoyed the chef's table. We are about to move and will truly miss our favorite special - night-out establishment

Words cannot convey how impressed I was with this place, but I'll give it a try. I've been wanting to try out Epic as soon as I got to Columbus, but waited until a special occasion to try it out, as it's not something that I could really afford to do everyday (or every week/month for that matter). I was a bit afraid that it wouldn't live up to all of the hype as I had already scanned through reviews and had prefaced my visit with studying the menu to see what choices to make. My husband and I came on a weekday evening and chose from the fixed price menu so that we could get a feel for the food (and get to try a good sampling of dishes). I got the shrimp and grits, short rib, and turtle cheesecake, while my dining partner got the squash bisque, pork shank, and chocolate torte. We specifically ordered separate dishes purely because we wanted to be able to sample as much of the menu as possible (heh). Everything looked so appetizing. Our server, Jay, was very accommodating, offering to pair wines with our dinner and answering any questions that we might have while ordering. Before each course, the appropriate silverware was placed before us, and a complimentary amuse-bouche as well as a bread platter with a variety of spreads was presented before the meal began. When we received our main courses, we both commented on how we didn't even need the steak knives we were presented with - the meat was so tender that as soon as we touched it, it fell apart onto our forks. I sampled the succotash that came with the pork shank - it was amazingly spicy and creamy and complimented the dish perfectly. After we finished our meal, Jay offered to take us through a brief kitchen tour with this being our first visit to Epic and we excitedly agreed. During the tour, he told us about the Chef's Table which we would definitely be considering in the future based on our first visit here. He also showed us the "anti-griddle" which they use in place of liquid nitrogen to cool ingredients. He demoed the device with creme anglaise and strawberry coulis, making an ice cream-like lollipop for us to try. The service we received (as well as the food) was beyond our expectations and I would definitely recommend this venue as THE place to go if you're celebrating a special occasion and want to be treated like royalty. It is also important to note that it is practically impossible to feel overdressed at this place, so dress up to the nines and enjoy!

Yesterday I celebrated my 25th Anniversary at this place and it was definitely a night to remember! This place was amazing from the beginning to the end. We were greeted at the door by some of the most professional and courteous greeters, the bartenders made us some amazing drinks and we got to enter through the Star Wars door to dine on the rock in the Chef's Kitchen! All I can say is wow! Chef Keating and his team is top notch and the food was culinary art and simply amazing! If you get a chance you must try the lobster trio. It is so delicious and i promise you wont be disappointed. I have been to a lot of fine resteraunts throughout the World and this is definitely in my top two! But I must say that the overall dining experience at the Epic was the best by far. Great Job Team Epic!!!!!!!!!

I recently relocated from Washington DC, a city with fantastic restaurants. By far, Epic is better than any of those big city restaurants. My wife and I had a pre-Valentine's Day Dinner, and it was unbelievable. From the start, the atmosphere in the restaurant is incredible. The owners put so much attention to detail and love into every decoration, place setting, and the food presentation. Moreover, their staff is extremely professional and they are always present to serve you or answer your questions. Most importantly, the food taste amazing. From the bread starter, to the lobster bisque, and the perfectly cooked Salmon and Short Rib, there is clearly no match in the area. I look forward to my next wonderful experience at Epic!!

I had originally drafted a Yelp review for Epic based on my last visit, but never published it for some reason. Bottom line from that experience was that it was incredible! Our server, Domonique, was the best, most enthusiastic, and personable waitress my wife and I have ever had. The food was half the reason it was great, she really was the other half. We went again last night for Valentines dinner. Our first table had crumbs all over it and I asked that it be cleaned up; instead they moved us to a table by the wine rack. There was a very BRIGHT running light in the wine rack that blinded my wife and I. I asked one girl if she could turn it off and she apparently tried and told us that it could not turn off. After 5 minutes of being blinded I told another waiter and he quickly turned them off. Problem solved; why the first girl accepted failure I'm not sure. Our actual waiter was kind of awkward to be honest, but well meaning I am sure. My wife can't metabolize alcohol so when he asked her nine (I counted) times over the course of the meal if she wanted a drink it was a little annoying. Then Domonique came to our table to deliver a drink (she said she's bartending now) and she was so cheerful and kind. When she left she said "let me make sure you guys get some bread" because our waiter had apparently forgotten to bring us ours. The meal was okay, but nowhere near as good as last time we went. I get it that it's valentines day, but overall I would have given Epic 3 stars after this outing. The first time was no doubt 5 stars. Average: 4 stars. If any management reads this please know that if we come back it is because of Domonique's great service the first night we went (we only recently moved here). Valentine's day was not a disaster by any means, but not what I expected from Epic and over a $200 meal. I had a better time at 11th and Bay the night before. *one more thing that was really weird - on Friday night someone from Epic called me at 9:22 PM to make sure I still wanted my reservation. I get ensuring people still want their reservation, but who calls at 9:22 PM?

Had a special group event here and the owner and staff were very, very accommodating. The food was awesome and the venue was amazing. I strongly suggest you eat at this incredible restaurant. We had breakfast prepared especially for us and they didn't disappoint. They gave us the back room that was beautifully decorated and the servers were excellent as well.

I had the pleasure of dining at Epic and they made a memorable mark on me. I don't know where to start... The ambience is great. The restaurant is just a pleasure to walk into. From the lighting to the seating it is all first rate warm and inviting. The staff are amazing and so friendly. They were experts on the choices...not just tried to remember what the chief had told them. They all worked together beautifully...they would talk to each other about your needs and desires and didn't hesitate to stop by speak and ask if there was anything they could do. The menu is excellent and they have a 4 course selection that was magnificent!!!! We were privilege to have the Chef come to the table and speak to us. Awesome!!!! We were even given the chance to tour the kitchen. The prices are reasonable and the wine selection good. Epic will go to the top of my go to places in Columbus Ga!!!!

If you ever have a special occasion that warrents a Chefs Table Tasting, this is THE place. Epi© rivals Per Se and Daniels in my book. The staff is professional, not over the top, educational without being overbearing. Oh and the food is simply magic. Chef Jaime has some very cool kitchen appliances that he has learned very very well. There is a theme to the restaurant that needs to be explained by the staff, but it all fits. There were amusement rides that I didnt want to end when I was a kid, Epi© is such a place.

Really Great atmosphere in the food was phenomenal. Oh yeah and the drinks were great too. There's nothing bad to say about this place. Short sweet and strength to the point. A MUST do on your checklist.

As you enter Epic is becomes very clear that it is more upscale than other local restaurants. It is nicely appointed and the staff is beyond welcoming. I ordered the filet and my friend had the sea bass. Both were perfectly cooked and melt in your mouth tasty. We also tried the truffle mac & cheese as well as the heirloom tomato caprese salad. Both of which were good enough to have as an entrée. The service was fantastic. We were well taken care of!

This restaurant could compete with top spots in DC and Philadelphia. Service was lovely and fun, food was delicious, and atmosphere was gorgeous. A special place in Columbus for sure.

I went for an anniversary dinner and it was simply fabulous! They knew it was our anniversary and the waiter and other staff congratulated us. The book theme was incorporated throughout night which was fun. We ordered the aged sirloin which was great! The dessert said "congratulations" which was a nice touch on top of the great taste. Would definitely recommend!

Oh, Epic Restaurant, I dream of you almost instantly when I leave your doors. I am from Massachusetts, one of the country's bastions of snobbery and I would say that this restaurant not only fit in but prosper and have a long life...but who would want to pay those kind of taxes anyway?! But, I digress. On to the juicy stuff. I have been here with my male half twice now for two very memorable meals in 2014. Our first was for Valentine's Day (we went the day after, but they were still doing V-Day things since V-Day was on a Friday), and the second meal was on March 15, 2014, in which I treated him for an unprecedented job promotion. Some things about EPIC: 1. Don't come here broke. This isn't McDonald's, and this isn't Country's BBQ. This is a culinary experience. So, don't be surprised when you see the prices. 2. Wear nice clothing. The waiters and waitresses are dressed nicely and you should be matching the environment. Read the doors before you enter the building. It's business casual or above. 3. The culinary team has been educated in culinary schools such as Culinary Institute of America, Le Cordon Bleu, and New England Culinary Institute. If something is not right with your meal, please be cordial to your server team and they will take care of it. 4. Be aware that there is a prix fixe menu time that you can take advantage of to not pay full price for the meal but come out being fed like a king and that includes appetizer, main course, and dessert for only $35 base price (of course if you want to add drinks and some sides it will start getting bigger, but holy moly there are some good items on that prix fixe menu). They offer the prix fixe menu only from Tuesday-Thursday 5:30-6:30pm and Friday-Saturday 5:00-6:00pm. Anyway, my experiences at EPIC have been absolutely amazing. They are professional in every way from cradle to grave. From the email interactions with Ms. Melissa Keating when asking for special requests (that they will do their best to accommodate) to the seating at the table and everything thereafter. I must mention that I think that it is wonderful that Chef Keating pays tribute to local Georgia products in the bread offerings with the EPIC butters which accompany the different breads. The olive tapenades and butters come from Georgia, which I think is very cool. We are a fan of the prix fixe menu because it offers a bigger bang for your buck and offers a great sampling of their bigger menu. They do not skimp on the portion sizes and we always make sure to order the truffle mac and cheese side to share. The pictures I have posted on Yelp of the meals I have had at EPIC are off of the prix fixe menu. There is nothing small about those portions! Looks at how amazing that meat looks, that artichoke bisque, that dessert, even the coffee presentation...I'm drooling just thinking about it. You know you're at a great place when they even make a big deal out of the coffee service. It's $5 for hot coffee, but it is French press and it is free refills and it is high quality coffee and you have a full array of sugars presented to you beautifully. Would you like a demitasse rock candy swizzle sugar stick, brown sugar cube, splenda, sweet and low, etc with your cream? That's what I am talking about! On the second visit to celebrate the big promotion, we were surprised by the arrangement the Keatings made for us to visit the kitchen at the end of the meal. I had been emailing Melissa extensively since before Valentine's Day and I had no idea that they had arranged that. It was so thoughtful of them and it made that meal even more special. We got to meet the people who made the meal, got to meet Chef Keating. Next on our list for EPIC...Chef's Table. Definitely on our list for this summer! Bravo, EPIC for opening this location in Columbus, GA and not in Atlanta or Savannah, where they are already saturated. Obrigada, merci, gracias!

My husband and I have been to Epic a couple of times and tonight we decided to stop in for a drink at their bar. We've always had a good experience at Epic but we were turned away today because of their "dress code". I was wearing a long dress and my husband was wearing a conservative linen shirt with dressy shorts and loafers. They hostess said that shorts weren't allowed. No problem, I understand if places have dress codes but they need to always be enforced. Last time we were at Epic a guy was getting a drink at the bar that was wearing pajama pants. Straight up obvious pajama pants, but hey, they weren't shorts, right? Another person another time we were there was wearing cut off jean shorts. If a place has a dress code they need to adhere to it at all times, not when they feel like it.

Was suspect of the five star review....well 1) food was great. Kitchen totally fine with substitutions and made an amazing entree with what I requested... Really appreciate the flexibility. 2) service was truly epic ...sat at the bar with Ryan and the sweet hostess from Chicago... Warm, friendly, knowledgeable, not over the top and great, easy conversation. Not intrusive... Just friendly! 3) big one here...lived in Manhattan, SFO and West Hollywood... This restaurant is top notch! Legitimally this is the best food in GA south of ATL. Not cheap, but worth every penny.

I was visiting from the west coast and was not expecting to have a gourmet meal in Columbus GA, but I was beyond surprised. This place is amazing!!! There was not one thing I would change about our meal from the service to the food. The service was phenomenal, each member of the wait staff was knowledgable and their recommendations were spot on. The food was ridiculously tasty and the pairings along side the main dish were perfect. It was a welcomed experience and if I come back to visit again we will definitely come again. It really was a treat to dine at a place that spared no detail.

I don't even know where to start! This restaurant is amazing. The food is cooked to perfection, and the flavors compliment each other perfectly. The staff is so friendly and attend to every need, even before you've had a chance to need something! We went for our anniversary, and we couldn't of had a better time or meal. I can't wait to go back again!

I'd first like to mention that I created a Yelp account to give Epic a five star review. My husband and I came here for our 2nd anniversary and it was truly "epic." The server, the food, the ambiance; it was all exquisite. I've only lived in Columbus, GA for two years, but since my husband is a food product developer/scientist, he's pretty big on trying new restaurants. I can boldy say that this is the best restaurant in Columbus! If you're ever in town visiting for the first time, I recommend you check this place out! You won't regret it.

The name speaks for itself, Epic! The food was heavenly tasteful. The restaurant has an authentic look, definitely a place for special occasions. My experience overall was beyond amazing.

After moving to Columbus in 2012 from D.C. I was looking for an upscale 5 star type restaurant since I was home sick and Columbus restaurants are mostly chain. I was ecstatic when I heard it was opening and went there for my birthday. All I can say is EXCELLENT FOOD AND SERVICE which is rare for Columbus, but you really do get what you pay for. I could go on and on about this place, but I want you to check it out for yourself because it's a MUST! The only not excellent part about this restaurant is that it's pricey, but GREAT for a special occasion and romantic dinner.

  • Arika S.

Great food, but don't go here with a party larger than 8. The seating for bigger parties is awkward, and you'll spend several hours there. The food was definitely the best in Columbus: Try the Dry Aged Steak, all of the salads on the appetizer menu were worth a try (watermelon, crab and avocado, fried green tomato, heirloom), the truffle mac and cheese was amazing, the spinach and black truffle was also really good. I really don't think you can go wrong here... if you have time to spare.. I would highly recommend this place!

So my adventure begins on a random Thursday night. Almost done with my four month assignment to Fort Benning, I decided to go out and treat myself. I located on Yelp fine dining in Columbus, GA. Only one restaurant appears, Epic. So I stroll in at opening time and ask for a table on one. This is by far the best meal I have eaten in 2013, sadly alone. The dining room is fantastic, a blend of the old history of the building with exposed brick with a new modern decor of bamboo and eclectic pieces. After ordering a drink at the beautiful bar I was shown to my table. There I met Jay, a gracious host and waiter. To start I ordered the lobster potstickers, it was amazing. The sauce was luscious. I wanted bread to mop up what was left behind. For my second I ordered the pan seared foie gras with pomegranate, chia seeds and white chocolate hollandaise. I should have ordered three more of this dish, I LOVE foie gras. I know the controversy behind admitting my love to something PETA abhors. For my main I order wagyu flat iron with french bean-potato salad, sriracha hollandaise & mushroom dust, medium rare. WOW! I was little concerned about the sriracha; what a great blend of flavors. I have never been a dessert person however Jay talked in me into the pumpkin crème brulee, and so glad he did. The presentation was so awesome, served in two mini pumpkins. Jay then game me a tour of the kitchen, as a foodie this was dream come true. Clean, efficient and friendly. They have a kitchen table you may reserve that seats up to eight! I would love to do that on a future visit. The pastry chef even made me a popsicle on the anti-griddle, I think at this point I have died and gone to food heaven. The wine selection was great, the food supreme. If you ever find yourself in Columbus, and want a great 5 star dining service and experience stop in at Epic, and ask for Jay.

Without a doubt the best restaurant in Columbus. My wife and I have been several times, (dinner, chef's table, and just drinks) and have had an amazing experience each time. The bacon & eggs sous vide and a signature cocktail are required with every visit. The staff and Jamie are all warm, engaging, and make you feel at home. Epic is expensive but well worth it. I recommend this place first to all Army friends heading to Fort Benning.

On arrival, the outside is a cross between an industrial park and an urban waterfront that has been revitalized. The entrance gives whimsy to a secret club and makes you feel lucky enough to have a key. Best martinis I have had in a long time. Ryan is a great mixologist. Our servers Scot and Jaime were excellent and impressed with knowledge of both the menu and the restaurant concepts. They demonstrated everything that was right with customer service. We had the "pre-fixe" menu since it was our first time. The shrimp and grits were excellent, the black bean soup with avocado relish was excellent as well..earthy and flavorful, with built in layers of flavor for both appetizers. The duck amuse bouche was so good, my husband wanted more. The coq au vin was rich and cooked well. The skirt steak was so good, my husband is still talking about it a week later. I ordered the apple cobbler but after tasting the chocolate torte, I asked for his dessert. We had an opportunity to tour the kitchen and after viewing the chefs table and valentines menu, i regret we didn't find it earlier in time to book a Valentine's table

This was my second visit to Epic and definitely the best! I made a reservation for 6 for the Pre Fixe (Pre-Fee) menu which requires an early reservation. It was my husbands birthday and I had family in town from CA. The Pre Fixe menu is $35 a person and includes a 3 course meal (starter, entree, dessert). We were sat in the back of the restaurant in a plush booth that fit us all comfortably. The restaurant is beautiful and the ambiance makes you feel like you are in NYC. The staff, from the hostess to the table busser were professional, polite, knowledgeable and warm. With a restaurant as upscale as this you may be concerned with running into "snobby" wait staff but I didn't experience that at all. Our meal started out with cocktails from the bar. We all ordered The Secret Garden as suggested and it was insane. It is a vodka based cocktail with an in house made lavender/honey simple syrup, topped off with prosecco and garnished with rosemary. I was told the bartender created this drink himself! I could run that drink through an IV for the rest of my life. We were then treated by the kitchen to an amuse bouche of grilled eggplant with pine nuts. We all picked our starters from the Pre Fixe menu, followed by bread with various gourmet butters and spreads. We all ended up ordering the same entree, a petite filet mignon with a raised short rib on a bed of spinach and grilled onions. It was amazing. My husband is a huge steak/beef fan and was in heaven. The portions were very generous. We all had a glass of wine to accompany our meal. They have an extensive wine list. Something for everyone's budget and taste. I ordered an Pinot Noir from CA from the Wines on Tap menu and it was perfect. We were then treated to dessert. The crème brûlée was so good and was paired the best whip cream I have ever had and fresh berries! It was as big as my face. The coffee is just as good and is served in a french press. After we finished dessert we were offered a tour of the kitchen. It was so interested and awesome to be given that opportunity. A man ( I am assuming was the dessert chef) made us sweet cream ice cream lollipops with a raspberry sauce on the reverse griddle (a griddle like device that's top is freezing) right in front of us. A really cool experience. The food, cocktails, wine and amazing staff made us all feel like VIP. I highly recommend you give Epic a try. It is definitely a place to treat yourself to every once in awhile. If you are skeptical or may be scared of the price tag on a meal here I highly suggest you give the Pre Fixe menu a try. Check out their Facebook Page and website for Pre Fixe menu offerings and times. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up!

Epic was AMAZING!!!!!!! There were four of us and we ordered four of the prix frixe menus and sampled; all was heavenly!!!! The corn bisque so creamy, the chicken, sounds odd to comment on but AMAZING, like spring on a plate, the fried strawberries were surrounded in billowy cinnamon sugar dough!!!!! I could go on and on, not to mention the phenomenal service! Wow, we were so well cared for at EPIC! It was an EPIC experience for sure! Looking forward to returning to Columbus' trendy Uptown to see the falls and experience the tantalizing flavors at Epic!
