Beechwood Inn is an excellent B&B. The building is old but well maintained. Our suite was spacious, well furnished and the bed was comfortable. The bath was a little tight but worked just fine. The location is very easy to reach and quite peaceful when you get there. It was very hot so the climate control struggled a bit. Unfortunately we only got to enjoy breakfast - which was excellent and generous. We also enjoyed brief conversations with the innkeepers. WE wat to return for one of their Saturday evening dinners.

Hidden gem! Great location just on the edge of Clayton. Spacious rooms very clean and well appointed. Fantastic front porch with ample seating and beautifully landscaped lawns. Now the food. Wow. True farm to table with much grown right on property! The owner is a chef and it shows. Only place for me to stay in Clayton now!

Having found this B&B in the Distinguished Inns Book that also listed our favorite Baltimore B&B, My significant other and I decided to try it out before we dropped him off at Ft Benning for his deployment - a romantic good-bye get-away of sorts. The Atmosphere: The website has these gorgeous pictures of the inn located in what seems like the side of a foothill or side of a mountain, but what it doesnt show is the lower income housing (trailers) mini-tour that you take turning on the main road it is located off of. We were expecting this secluded mountain get-away, but it was more like 1 street off the main drag. BUT the views from the large front porch are amazing and you can almost forget that Walgreens in the foreground view. The porch boasts views of Black Mountain which is supposedly the highest peak in GA (or so I was told) and it was nice to see during Wine O'Clock. Socially, the experience at Inns always vary by who is staying there, but there is also something to be said about the atmosphere that the Innkeepers help to provide. I tell you that trying to engage in any type of conversations with the owners as like pulling teeth. I know that they were Knighted by the Order of something in Burgundy France, but still.. no need to take on the French Snobbery/cold shoulder. The other guests engaged in light conversation and that made the stay seem more reminiscient of the B&B world.. The location was great for going to Franklin, NC (gem mining and great hikes) and great for local hikes and viewing fall foliage. Goodies: (Cookies, Wine Happy Hour & awesome breakfast) The Innkeeper makes the cookies (chocolate toffee chewy goodness) that are available after dinner hours (delicious) and the Wine O'clock was really nice. The Innkeeper hosts a wine happy hour of sorts @ 5:30 with light appetizers on the porch. It was very nice and having an in-house sommelier (or the knowledge of one) was nice to have around if he would consider speaking to any of us. He did eventually speak to us when we asked about local dining options. Full of information, but not full of social warmth. Despite not being very social/warm, the Innkeeper hosts an amazing breakfast. The coffee comes out @ 7am complete with mugs warming on a heating station. The owners were kind enough to ask me about my diet restrictions (tempermental lactose intolerance) and had soy coffee creamer out). The breakfasts were amazing and even though we only had 1 choice.. it was always very good. The Rooms: We had the Vineyardsuite one night and the Savannah Suite the other night. The Vineyard was very private and had windows on 3 sides. The ONLY downside to this room was the sloping floors by the bathroom in the hallway that leads to the bed. It was treacherous without heels and downright dangerous with heels. There was a guest refrigerator stocked with soda and water =) Both rooms had an in-suite gas fireplace which was put to use and a REALLY nice touch =). The beautiful old hardwood floors, super high thread-count sheets and lots of amenities (nice books stocked in the rooms) made this place nice. other than the sloping floors and the absence of more bathtubs... everything was great. This place is priced just right for what it is. The Vineyard room should come with a warning and.... maybe they ought to consider having more parking space in side of the inn. Other than that.. we would come back again.

Yelp friends....ahh where do I start?? my boyfriend and i planned our first romantic getaway for the weekend to see the leaves turn...i did some research and found the Beechwood Inn...it looked really nice from the pictures and we figured it was an easy trip from Atlanta so we decided to try it out...we drove up from Atlanta and arrived to the Inn at just around 6 p.m...the inn grounds are beautiful and from the outside it looked really cute and cozy decorated with pumpkins ...lovely wood porch with rocking chairs....we met a nice couple on the porch drinking wine and having cheese..we called the inn keeper who left us a note and he appeared shortly thereafter...dave (the innkeeper) told us that we had just missed 'wine thirty'...we both looked at the time and wondered why Dave couldnt' bend the rules and give us wine and cheese just because it was 3 minutes past 6. i think dave could use a chill pill...he's very hospitable but made us feel like we were walking on egg shells...he asked us if we were early risers...he said breakfast is served between 8 and 9..my boyfriend told him we would be up "around that time" and Dave's response was "pick a time...8, 8:30 or 9 am." overall it was a nice experience...breakfast was really fresh and very tasty...Dave's wife Gayle is a sweetheart..we met her the next morning...their yellow lab is very sweet and overall it was a nice experience...i loved the rooms and the decor...my boyfriend had terrible allergies though every time we got back from hiking. We tried to engage Dave by chatting with him and tried to get him to smile..but he didn't budge..nice guy but not the friendliest. i would recommend this place for anyone driving through but don't think that we will ever go back.

At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain.
