This place has definitely improved since my first visit. I am definitely a fan but am unable to give 5 stars because of the layout of the bathroom and do not think they will fix having the sink where you wash your hands right at the toilet where someone could be staring at you while they took a deuce. But I digress. They have greatly improved their beer selection and the food they have added to the menu is of a good portion and has tasted great. The owner has been trying new things and I would strongly suggest you watch the facebook site as he will announce drink/food specials and any special contests via facebook.

Trivia night and my friend's birthday. We had a ball! The food was good and the crowd was lively. I don't drink so I can't speak on the libations. Yeah it's a dive but it sure was a lot of fun!

Came here with almost 30 graduate school friends to celebrate a birthday. Ordered a beer a hung out for a couple hours and when I tried to pay with the credit card on my tab the bartender came back and told me I had to pay with cash because they don't run cards on tabs less than $10. There were no signs and the bartender didn't bother to tell me when I first ordered and gave her my card. When I told her I didn't have any cash she became very rude and preceded to give me an angry stare and look at me blankly. I overheard her call me an a$$hole to someone later. Not a classy place

Pretty decent neighborhood bar. Does tend to get crowded with snotty douchebags from the surrounding neighborhood. You know, the kind with the collars of their polo shirts turned upwards. Aside from that it is a decent bar. Good drink selections. Good happy hour prices. Would recommend

This a college hangout good beer and the food is good. Don't expect booths or wood paneling. They have a fun and witty staff.

This place is great for trivia. Their bar food is tasty (and definitely not heart-healthy) and the drinks menu is surprisingly diverse. This is a small venue with limited (and not very comfortable) seating that could very accurately be described as a dive bar. That being said, there is a certain charm to the unusual decorations and the surprisingly intellectual trivia. This is a great place to go with your friends, but definitely not a "family friendly" joint.

Oh Helga's, I accept you for all your quirks and faults until death do us part. Here's the thing, patrons can embrace the quirkiness and deal, or get the !#$& out. In the ladies' bathroom a Wizard of Oz curtain functions (poorly) as the door to a "stall" that can only be described as an afterthought. Have I unwittingly drawn back the curtain on a poor woman whose panties had ankle-cuffed her and caused her to scream? Is it purposeful that the mirror reflects the inside of the other stall allowing for almost zero privacy? Does it matter? NO, g*damit, you should be able to tell that you're signing up for this the minute you try to park on the grassy area on a trivia night and nearly damage your undercarriage from the same #!$@ing enormous rock that's a perpetual liability in that area of the parking lot. Credit cards are not accepted unless you have a minimum of ten dollars and don't expect them to bend the rules for you ever, even if you're a trivia regular. God created us equal, and Helga is not about to change the natural order of things--unless you count the taxidermied wall trophies draped in beads, boas and whathaveyous. I can't think of anything specific because my mind explodes in meditative confusion every time I look up from the bar. Drinks? They has 'em. The PBR is overpriced so you might as well order the good stuff. Remember, you need a ten dollar tab to use your card, and if life has brought you to Helga's in Augusta on this night, I'll betcha my own nonexistent ten dollars you don't have cash. Trivia is fun, but don't get your PC panties bunched when they give away Hitler: a Life in Color as a prize. Get the sweet potato fries; if you have to order less than twice, you're doing Helga's all wrong.

I would highly recommend trying the burgers or the BBQ pork sandwich. You will not be disappointed. The bartenders are great. Love this place!!

To me this is the epitome of a dive bar, you will walk in and get hit by the smell of cigarettes in the air like a ton of bricks. Honestly if it wasn't for that this place would probably get 5 full stars. I recently paid Helga's a visit over the weekend to play some trivia while I was in town. Despite the fact that this is a full blown bar, they do offer some food which is posted throughout the wall of the bar with colorful construction paper which kind of gives it its own character. Their menu varies from chicken wings, shark fin?, cheeseburger with really good fries, chicken strips, and tater tots to name a few. I have had their burgers before and they tend to be pretty tasty for dive bar standards. On this particular outing I had their chicken tenders basket with fries which were pretty good but nothing to rave about. They have some pretty good beer selections and they post their beer specials on the wall. Their selection varies from Dead Guy to Bud Light so you really have your pick here. They usually have trivia here on Thursdays and Saturdays, but expect it to last forever as they wait for teams to turn in their answers even past the length of a song. They host general kinds of questions which range from history, science, sports, to current events. I used to go all the time as their prizes for the winners are not bad at all. $50 bar tab for first prize and they have second and third place prizes as well. The crowd that tends to frequent this place tends to be regulars from either MCG or Augusta State and some people that live in the neighborhood. Either way its a pretty good crowd. This is probably one of the places that I miss the most about good ol' Disgusta.

Don't know how the other entries gave it great reviews but only three stars.... Great draft and bottle beer selection. Usually busy Thurs-Saturday but still good service. Pool tables in the back; young crowd, a good dive-ish bar but you never know when a wedding after-party is gonna storm through. Smoking is now only allowed outside.

Just got bought by a newer younger crowd. Other owners were a bit crass but Brian, the new owner is pretty cool. Still keeping trivia nights on Thursday and Saturday. Talks of a dart league on Mondays starting in August. Already was a great bar, the new guys working here should make it a great bar. Come check it out and have a beer with me. Oh yea, 2 dollar pints on mondays.
