I like the food. The chicken basil is solid. Their curries, noodles, and street tacos are good, nothing spectacular but good food. What I really like about this place is the service. Even though you can say this is a "fast food" place, it doesn't feel like it. You can tell people actually enjoy working here.

Walking in, the place looked kind of unkept, but clean? Weird I know. Definitely food court or cafeteria feel and I skipped a few tables because they weren't wiped off. The counter is oddly placed and it was hard for me to figure the line out, but I got a menu and ordered some sesame chicken and brown rice with water, I received my food within a reasonable amount of time, and that's when the fire nation attacked. The food was hot, and that's where it stops with positives. On first bite immediately I could tell it was cheap maybe even frozen chicken bites. It was not good enough to be considered good, and was not bad enough to where I didn't eat my food. It was just there. Just food to eat. Mediocre "Asian flavor" and brown rice and broccoli. My water "glass", may have been plastic, I don't remember, but had so much white film on it I had to rinse it out before I used it. My stomach started hurting about half an hour after, and they would have gotten two stars but it's been hurting since then. Very, very skeptical to give another shot at this place, nowhere near the quality of a place like pei wei.

Pleasantly surprised with Tin Drum. It looks like a food court place, but I'd say it is more akin to a Thai/Asian Chipotle (with admittedly less options). I got the namesake dish, which was really good. Tasty, not too spicy, and a good amount of food. Very reasonably priced, fast, and tasty food. I have no idea if its authentic, but it really outdid what I expected. Some people seem to be underwhelmed they didn't get Tuk Tuk style service, which I think is nuts given this place doesn't market itself as anything but an Asian fast food restaurant. I'll be back for sure.

I wasn't expecting the world from Tin Drum, or top quality authenticity; I just wanted some quick, decent Thai food for lunch. Even with those expectations, it was barely above "Meh". I decided to go with the standard Pad Thai. First of all, it came out really quickly, so that's a plus. I had barely gotten my fountain drink and picked a seat and sat down. It was OK. It wasn't spicy at all, but I guess I could've asked for it spicy. The chicken though tasted like it didn't have much seasoning on it at all. I'm not even sure if I should give it 3 stars... But it was fast, big portions, they bring the food to you and bus your table. I think I want to give it another shot and try something else.

This place is not the best place to get Thai food if that is what you're craving. I've been to this location, Atlantic Station, and GSU aderhold location. They all taste the same. The food is very bland and does not taste like anything. The price is all right of the amount they give.

If an Asian restaurant and a food court spot had a baby its name might be Tin Drum. At first glance, it feels a lot like an escapee from the Lenox Mall food court. You place your order at the front counter and pay for it upfront. However, instead of having to choose from pre-prepared, heat lamp warmed fare your food is cooked to order. Take a seat at a table and a few minutes later someone from the kitchen brings your food and drink out to you. (The fountain drinks are self-serve but I ordered a Thai tea and an employee brought it out to me.) Essentially you get table service and a sit down meal without the obligation to leave a 20% tip. The menu features an assortment of Chinese, Korean and Thai foods. I used to order Tom Yum Soup with shrimp but for some reason Tin Drum took it off the menu. I'm still struggling to find something on the menu I like better. Minus 2 stars for tantalizing my taste buds with that delicious soup and then taking it away. That's just wrong.

I can't believe that I asked for fresh made chicken and they served me chicken that they just re-fried and served it to me. Shame on you cooks. How will you survive? I met your owners today in Dunwoody Starbucks and the cooks told the manager Chris on duty that oh yeah it's fresh chicken. You need to fire your kitchen staff here and get folks that can actually fry chicken.

The cashier that took our order was awesome. My chicken tikka masala was superb and I know my way around a tikka masala. It's not super fancy but for such an inexpensive chicken tikka masala I am fine with that. I recommend this place. Don't be deterred by some of the reviews.

I really enjoyed this cafè the food was fantastic. I came here at about 3:45 and the place was nearly empty but I ordered and had food on my table in less than 1 minute which was crazy to me. It made me think they had old food sitting around but it was extremely fresh and I was very pleased with the quality, taste, and Portion Size I received and a drink was included in the $8.25 Price. I'm known for eating a lot but I was full after not having anything all I got the Mango Chicken with Jalapeño it was spicy and sweet. Decent food and affordable. Pad Thai , mango, and sesame chicken are our favorites. It's a good portion, fast and cool place to go . If you are not looking for a fancy place and wants a tasteful food , try it. They also have some kids eat free days

OK, so I give up on this location officially. I come here at least once if not twice a week. The staff is just absolutely CLUELESS. I honestly can't figure out if it is the people taking the order or the cooks that screw up my order EVERY SINGLE TIME. For me to have to walk back in to have them correct it EVERY TIME is ridiculous. I am very descriptive and clear with my order: Tin Drum curry w/shrimp (fried), no spinach and rice on the side (so it doesn't get soggy as I drive home); spice level 10. How friggin difficult is that?! These people are insane for screwing up such a simple straightforward order. In fact, I am so disturbed that I can't even finish the order I just picked up because I feel the need to write about it right away!! I can't tell you how many times they have screwed up one or multiple things on order. I have gotten chicken instead of shrimp, plenty of times when they put spinach in; a time when they put rice in the curry; a time when they grilled my shrimp instead of fried it, the list goes on and ON. Today was by far the worst: received only shrimp and no curry!!!! Are you serious, Tin Drum?! Then when I went back in the girl who took my order says they don't put it in containers anymore but instead these "new" cardboard boxes therefore it appears there is no curry. Um, how about it was sauteed shrimp and definitely no curry! Then of course there was spinach in the dish. Of course it was mild and not spicy at all. Of course they forgot the peanuts it normally comes with on the side and of course she looked at me like I was the crazy one. I will say, as far as the cashiers, there are a couple of guys that are great and very friendly. This particular woman today is not friendly and stares at you instead of just taking the damn order and making sure it is right. I am livid, to say the least. I really REALLY miss the Roswell road location. They were friendly, fast and the order was NEVER wrong...not once. What on Earth did they close?!!! So very disappointed, you have lost a loyal customer. Wish this thing had negative stars...a one is generous.

Officially a fan! I had a couple bites of a friends during work a few months back and had no idea what it was or where it was from..but I remember it was chicken and lime--and I have been craving it. So I called her today and she told me it was TinDrum! And that it was Pad Thai. I went in today and ordered Pad Thai level 4 spice and the coconut soup! I'm a huge coconut soup fan and this was one of the best!! Mushrooms and chives accompany the salty milkiness and I wish if ordered a large instead of a small! I was in, ordered, paid and out in less than 7 minutes and it's cooked to order which I liked a lot. The pad Thai is tasty but I prefer it with a LOT of lime. Like an unrealistic amount haha I highly recommend !!

This place is going downhill. The Pad Woon Sen is great. But the employees that are there are so disrespectful of the clientele. One man is jumping around slapping and snapping and a horrible singer to boot. I believe in having joy but not when I can't even concentrate to eat because of the circus act!!!

I hate to leave bad reviews, but this one had to be put out there. I come here on a weekly basis, and usually the food is pretty quick. The customer service is so-so, some staff members are friendly while others are not attentive and lack basic customer service skills. The main reason I'm writing this is because I ordered two tacos, and was told it should take 5 - 10 minutes. 30 minutes later, and 3 - 4 people who came after me and were served before me, I finally received my food. It was cold and lifeless, cold chicken and shrimp tacos, as if they've been sitting for 20 or so minutes. It was pathetic, and I left livid. I was there 3:25 pm and it was super slow, so I don't know how they could have dropped the ball. This will be the last time I come here, partly due to its poor customer service, and this horrible experience of waiting 30 minutes for two tacos cold, lifeless tacos. :( Hopefully new management or training will tempt me to return. This experience was the straw that broke the camel's back.

It had been a few months since I had been here, so I decided to try it for lunch. Smelled good when I went in and the place was crowded. I ordered the spinach salad with chicken - entree size. If you're looking to spend $9 on boiled, unseasoned chicken over $0.72 worth of spinach, carrots, cabbage and old mushrooms, then this is the salad for you. I was seriously disappointed. When did the quality get so bad? If I wasn't running late, I would have gotten my money back for it. Will definitely not be back.

The line was a bit long to start with but moved very quickly, allowing me and my company to figure out our plates. They had many good choices and good drinks, we made our orders and sat down until the food was brought to us. The food was very well presented and the tables and spoons were very clean. The only negative is that this locations was so busy it was to hot inside.

So, I've been coming here for a while and I feel like the quality has gone down. The last few times, the food seemed not so fresh, served kind of cold, and gave me a stomachache. Also, I ordered a tea that they were advertising for a dollar and they charged me 1.89. When I pointed it out, the guy looked at me as if I were quite bizarre. He left and came back with a dollar and set it on my table. The whole exchange was awkward. Look, 89 cents could go into my gas tank. Plus, I tipped the cashier a whole dollar for nothing when I got rung up. I'm not cheap, I just don't like getting charged wrong. While I can say, that the staff is generally a nice crowd and the food has it's moments. Overall, there are far better places in Buckhead to eat. We had a good run Tin Drum.

Read more reviews on my blog, Cat the Critic: wp.me/p4GjLH-1a Tin Drum Café might not be traditional Asian, but it wins points for quickly serving relatively inexpensive and flavorful fusion food. Thai Iced Tea is notorious for being overpoweringly sweet, so I asked for it half-sweet. However, the Styrofoam cupful I received was still pretty overwhelming, revealing that either they didn't actually make it half-sweet (fault of the service) or that even half-sweet, it was a sugar bomb (fault of the recipe). I quickly forced down a quarter cup and thinned out the rest with some water. 1 PM on a Saturday, and the restaurant is at about half capacity. I see all sorts of people, from all types of backgrounds and age groups, including a quartet of elderly Asian ladies (I smiled). There's a nice outdoor patio very close to the road, with three or four servers walking around. When someone walks up to the register, they never have to wait long before being approached by someone; however, it's strange that customers have to order and pay prior to picking a table and sitting down; how am I supposed to tip? I don't yet know how great my service is. Our food arrived less than ten minutes after ordering. Imagine yourself, a busy young person, in a hurry to get from one destination to the next. Tin Drum accommodates that fast-paced lifestyle. The Masaman curry came super sweet, with lots of liquid to be absorbed by the large bowl of brown rice that came on the side. Together, they became a porridge of sorts, embellished with large chunks of chicken. Massaman curry (note the spelling difference - another sign of inauthenticity) is a Thai dish that comes with a sauce made creamy with coconut milk, topped with crunchy cashews. The sweetness was rather intense, and the curry itself lacked spice. The dish was average. The Pad Woon Sen Noodle is a noodle dish centered around stir-fried mung beans. This place calls itself a noodle bar, which I can understand; the noodles were cooked just enough and tossed with mung beans, cabbage, juicy chicken, and fluffy egg pieces. It was a warm salad, of sorts, with pleasant, diverse textures for the palate. The Teriyaki chicken taco featured bright yellow pieces of slightly dry chicken doused in a soy-sesame vinaigrette. Somewhere on the menu I was promised a spicy teriyaki sauce, but I didn't find any spice, just hints of sweetness coating the chicken. The taco was not overpowering at all, complimented with cabbage, rice, green onions, and cilantro. In my opinion, the good outweighed the bad. The meal for two ended up being roughly $25 for 2, with lots of leftovers. I think we were charged well! From a previous visit, I would not recommend the coconut soup. It's overly greasy, with blobs of oil coating the top, and a few slices of raw mushroom swimming around. It's not worth the money at all.

I love Asian food, but there is something about this franchise that doesn't sit well with me. I've gone here on a few occasions and the food is plain ordinary. No pizzazz...no sauce...no real flavor. After last time, this was my last time patronage to this establishment. The food is so bland. The decor is really nice and quaint. Never had major issues with customer service. I don't really know what else to say.

I like the Asian fusion at Tin Drum, the Tofu Tikka Masala (TTM) in particular. Being a vegetarian, it is hard to find food that reminds you of the flavors back home, but Tin Drum is right on the money with this dish. That being said, the order management at this place is plain awful (for the lack of a better word). I usually prefer to eat my food at home, on the couch, watching a movie (who doesn't :P) and hence order online at this place. Their online ordering application is clunky at best and their adherence to order preference is zero. Strike 1: I ordered a TTM and a veggy spring roll and went to pick up my order at the specified time andddd it was not ready, not even close to ready. The guy at the desk apologized and had it made in 15 minutes, but the whole point of ordering online is to skip the wait, isn't it? I realized after coming home that they had curry on top of the rice, which I would rather not prefer. I assumed that is how they usually do it and left it alone. Strike 2: I ordered a TTM and specifically mentioned to give me my curry in a separate container. I went to pick up my order and following the instructions I got upon ordering (which specifically said: When you pickup: Please bypass the line ask for your order), I skipped the line and went straight ahead to the register. The dude behind me started riling up as if I broke the laws of physics and I calmly tried to explained to him regarding the instruction I got in the nicest possible way (even offered to go back and wait of that would calm him down), but he still continued to make faces. I could understand his anger(not knowing their bypass the line for online order thing), but what I was appalled about was how the guy at the counter would just amusingly watch the argument rather than stopping in and explaining their policy to the guy who was unaware of it. I picked up my order and left in a hurry in all this chaos. Coming back to my order, I did get a separate container.....but with fried tofu in it. The curry was again on the rice. Common guys, it was a one line, one action request. All you needed to do was to place the curry in a separate container. Apart from everything else, I still like their TTM very much and would rate the place 4 star. I am taking a star out for each of the bad experiences I had. If strike three happens, I have no other choice but to strip out another star and stop going there (now you wouldn't want to go to a 1 star restaurant, would you).

Tonight was my first time at Tin Drum and the guy at the cashier was very helpful!! I order the tin drum to go and the crab spring rolls. The cashier recommended both and even let me try the curry, which I thought was pretty good...until I got home! My crab spring rolls was so greasy to the point it left a film in my mouth. The chicken was so dry in the tin drum that I almost choked (choke chicken...lol)! I honestly will only go back for the chocolate covered fortune cookie, it was so delicious!!

Everything I get here is good. Not amazing, but consistently good. I have never had a bad meal. This is one of my favorite Asian places to eat as a chain. I think this is the better of its sister tin drums in Atl. There fusion sweet tea is amazing.

My friend and I ate at Tin Drum at Georgia Tech before the Rolling Stones show at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Despite the fact that everyone in Atlanta knew that the Rolling Stones were playing that night, Tin Drum only had one person taking orders, despite a line out the door. When we got there, they had run out of chicken. Pretty much everything they serve has chicken in it. They were running a special of two pork bahn-mi "sandwiches" for $8. My friend and I each ordered that and we split an order of chicken potstickers. The "bahn mi" were actually more like soft tacos. They were absolutely delicious, but for what we got, I felt that $8 was a bit pricey. The potstickers were good, but we only got 3 in the order and I felt that was a bit overpriced. It took a while for our food to come, but they were busy, so I will give them a pass on that. Overall, I'll say that I will be back again, and try some noodles next time, when they've got chicken available.

OMG....this was my first visit. I just moved into the area and I get tons of coupons so I thought I'd check it out...I ordered the Penang curry chicken with brown rice. As I began to eat it it had a good sweet flavor....after about 5 spoonfuls...I became EXTREMELY nauseated....and you know what came next....I threw it all up. I called the restaurant and asked for a manager and spoke to a Chris...he told me he would let his manager know and thanks....oKay..... Needless to say I will never eat there again and I pray no other customers got sick like I did....so disappointed....

Tin Drum is always a great go to spot after shopping in Buckhead and needing to get away from the crowds. Plus it's near Target. You know you always need to go to Target. Love the mango chicken and the name sake, Tin Drum.

Pad Thai here is definitely on point. It wasn't all greasy or salty, just delicious and filling. It's almost on the level of a go-to-spot for me, and I might stop eating Chinese food altogether! Kind of an interesting vibe inside of the store, I usually get take out anyway. I'm greedy so I'll say that the portions could be bigger, but otherwise they serve good food.

Horrible, flavorless food. My mom and I eat almost anything but we had to send two dishes back each and finally just forced ourselves to eat what we were stuck with. Customer service was good though. It was almost like they expected us to send them back.

I got the panang curry, which I've had many times and it's great every time. But this time, I got it To-Go. Everything about it was awful. It was about 1/5 full, so I got ripped off, plus it was cold. Terrible food today and terrible experience.

Decided to stop by for lunch today because I was having a crazy mad craving for Asian food. I walked in, and was a little confused to see 2 customers standing at the order counter, placing their own orders into a computer screen. I get that this could be very useful when the restaurant is busy, but the restaurant wasn't at this time and the cashiers were just standing around looking bored. I figure, give the order to the people who know which screen is what and let them do their job right? Anyways, I ordered a bowl of chicken pad Thai and a Thai tea. I grabbed the number marker and went to a table near the window. I will warn fellow yelpers that it gets cold in here, and because the chairs are his aluminum metal thing, you can and will get cold fast! My Thai tea arrived, and I put it down after the first sip. My first thought, wow, this is watery! It barely tasted like tea. My entree came out and looked great, the bowl was huge and I could see pieces of chicken throughout. I squeezed in my limes and mixed the bowl. But after a few bites, my tongue just went out. Meaning, that the taste was just blah. It was on its way to becoming a bona fide pad thai, but I guess it got lost and took a detour somewhere along the way? I ate just enough to put my hunger away and even that was really hard to do. I can't explain it, but the taste just wasn't there. Maybe I will try a curry next time, but I will definitely stay away from the pad thai in the future.

It's okay. It's kind of like a fancier Panda Express. The dishes sound so promising, and the flavors are good. The issue I had is you get a ton of rice and barely any meat. When you're paying $5 and up for a bowl, I would expect a little more substance. This is the only location I've been to, but the service seemed decent.

Why the f**k would you eat here? Greasy flavorless food (at least it's not slow), tables aren't cleaned, the price certainly doesn't help. Just another "meh" chain in the sea of Atlanta eateries. Go to Doc Chey's instead.

    (2)
  • Berhane A.

Absolutely love this place! I always get the Kung Pao Stir-Fry w/ brown rice it's so good. I usually find something I love and stick with it so I with that being said I can't vouch for any of the other dishes. My boyfriend always gets the basil fried rice and he really likes it. It cost about $9 per meal but I can eat off of it for lunch and dinner (if I'm not being greedy). The place is very clean. I've washed my hands a few times and the bathroom never seems to be nasty. Someone is always walking around cleaning off the tables. I usually call in my orders to make the process a little quicker I rarely dine-in. Parking usually isn't that bad but it's located next to a lot of other businesses so wouldn't be surprised if all direct parking in front of the building is gone. Anyhoo hope this helps.

Tin Drum is a great place for a quick lunch. It can get crazy busy and there's not much seating at the Briarcliff Road location. The seats are incredibly uncomfortable which is probably by design to expedite table turnover. I tried the beef twice and it was sort of chewy and low quality. The chicken and shrimp items on the menu were very good for this price range. Nothing fancy but a good little lunch spot when it's not too crowded.

I love this place. The price is great and the food is good. The first time I went I got the Tin Drum Curry. It was so good! My coworkers suggested it. I'm always nervous the first time I get something new so I always get a recommendation for what to get the first time. The second time around they're built my trust so I ventured out and got the Tikka Masala because I LOVE Indian food. There's a certain spice that reminded me of my Indian roommate's mom's home cooking that made me want to start eating it with my hands because that's how I've learned to eat from my South Indian friends. This place is underrated. I don't know why I hadn't heard of it before! I highly recommend it for the money.

Don't know how I forgot to review this place when I went to Atlanta to visit my BFF. This place is delicious with really good americanized indian food, but they'll still give it a kick if you ask them to! I had my socks knocked off by this place because the portions are huge and the food is just so flavorful, I'm sad to see that others don't feel the same way. I also had a great experience with the staff there and since my BFF lives right around the corner from this location she said she goes there all the time and the staff is incredibly nice and always helpful or willing to suggest a dish. We enjoyed our visit, I liked the modern style inside and loved not spending a lot of money to get enough food for two meals! Good to me!

In theory I love Tin Drum. I love pad thai and spring rolls and other delightful quick Asian cuisine, but despite how hard I try, I just don't love Tin Drum. We placed an order to pick up one evening - Pad Thai, Tin Drum Curry, and Basil Fried Rice. My two friends and I had intended on paying separately but when we arrived they wouldn't split the bill because we had not specified on the phone that we wanted to pay separately - I found this a tad bit silly & non-accommodating. The serving sizes are pretty big for the price. I found the pad thai tasteless and boring. There was hardly any sauce and the noodles were still on the chewy side. It was a noodle fest with hardly any bean sprouts, carrots, or onions to be found. The flavor wasn't a typical pad thai taste either, there was something unfamiliar about it. The curry was the tastiest of what was ordered but it wasn't especially memorable. The parking situation is really convenient since it is located next to a giant parking lot. I found the staff stand-offish and relatively unhelpful. Several customers seemed confused about the iPad ordering system and the servers weren't jumping to help them out. I might eat there again simply because of its convenience & possibility that I didn't order the best thing o the menu, but my expectations are going to be fairly low and I'll hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Hands down the best Tin Drum there is. I honestly have no idea why I haven't posted a review before The food is on point every time. (Tofu is hard to cook right, this place knows their tofu!) The customer service is excellent, cashiers/servers are always willing to help and happy to do so. The restaurant itself is clean, parking is easy, and the take out is super fast

Being a fan of Run Drum for a while, I have to say that this location wasn't the best one I've visited. The food quality isn't as good as their other ones. Even the sauce was watered down and not as flavorful. Guess I'll stick to the good locations from now on!

  • Juan M.

I HAVE experienced better. I was meeting a client because it was a mutually convenient location, but what a mistake. The acoustics are akin to jail/school cafeteria/name your fave sterile institutional setting; concrete floors, ceiling, etc. means all sounds bounce back to you. Food was so-so; I had the chicken teriyaki tacos and coconut soup. I ordered chicken in the soup but got a SHIT TON of mushrooms instead. The tacos were okay, the soup was tepid and full of mushrooms. I guess that was just as well as it was only 3/4 full. I DID like the automated ordering system - that was pretty cool.

Is it just me, or does this place disappoint after the initial visit. First time i had this place, i had just gotten transfered to the area. Food was great. Portions were huge. 4 stars. Second time, ordered the chicken teriyaki. Still tasty, but the chicken to rice ratio was off (not enough chicken) and the rice was a bit dry. 3 stars. From then on, nothing but disappointment. There aren't many good food choices within walking distance for me and i was hoping this could be a staple, but negative. The whole set up is a little ambiguous as well. Are those people who are standing in front of the kitchen wait staff, or what? Either way, I'm sure they are responsible for cleaning up. I have a complaint... Wipe the sticky ass tables please. They have been sticky for the entire 8 months I have worked in the area. Come on now...its time.

The food is not fresh at all. The salad looked old. The chicken tasted odd. I did not finish my food and did not bother to even get a to go box because no one would eat that food.

Service was poor, manager seemed uninterested. The food could be better, if it had flavor.

I liked. Simple as that, was planning on eating somewhere saw this and went in to experience what a Tin Drum could be. Was slightly baffled by the ordering computer like thingy that were up front. Fortunately we didn't get a chance to use it as the server person stated she would take our order. I ordered the Japanese Katsu and my gf ordered the Sing Chow Men. I totally enjoyed my dish though I was expecting the chicken to be more crispy. The GF ate the entire bowl of Sing Chow Men...I mean every freaking bite..lol I tasted it and found it a little bland for me, missing an element of salt or even spice. I will say that both were huge portions and you won't leave hungry. We also ordered apps, I had the Crispy Chicken Potstickers, which were good, don't let them get hot thought. Not so great then. My GF had Curry Chicken Roll. I didn't taste it, looked funny inside..lol She devoured it. I think she was just a little bit hungry. All in all a great meal and because I told the server it was our first time there, the manager came by and asked what we thought, which I thought was great. Thank gawd I don't live near by, I would be over here every other day.

Big fan. It is quick and affordable. They offer many tasty options and decent sized portions. The staff is very friendly as well. Only complaint I have is that they can be pretty inconsistent with the spicy scale. For spicy dishes they ask how hot you want it on a 1-10 scale and somedays a 3 will be incredibly spicy and others a 5 or 6 won't be spicy at all.

Don't ask me why my car parked in front of Tin Drum. I'd been to the original 5th Street location years ago when it first opened ... and didn't like it. I knew Tin Drum had gotten mostly 3-star ratings ... but somehow I still ended up there. Maybe I just needed a reminder that I didn't need to come back. Because I really did spontaneously end up here - I did something so unlike me: I didn't read the reviews to find the one dish that might really be good. So I asked the order guy for his favorite dish - he said "basil fried rice". I did another thing so unlike me - order fried rice. (Unlike me b/c fried rice is so easy to make.) Basil Fried Rice had tiny bits of flavor but overall almost on the bland side. In addition to basil, the dish had onions, green beans, jalapenos, and chicken. I regrettably asked for no jalapenos, thinking the dish was already going to be very spicy so why make it every more spicy ... but no jalapenos = no spicy. My bad. The only good thing I can say is that the portion was good enough for 2 meals ... so paying $7.49 felt more acceptable. Adding oyster sauce to my leftovers did end up making it taste pretty decent. If you're wanting Asian food, I'd recommend heading somewhere else ... there are so many better places.

Ok here's the thing, this place sucks but I eat here about once a month. Why? Purely convenience. It's located right next to my apartment. Would I recommend you eat here? no. Would I bring anyone here? no no no. Why does this place suck? Well the food is meh. It's also inconsistent. The people working here also don't care about the food or your experience, whether it be take-out or eat in. I've eaten here probably 20+ times and I can say I've only had maybe one or two positive experiences with the staff. They are just rude, awkward, and they just don't care. In fact, I often feel uncomfortable talking to them. I feel like every time I'm done making my order, they go back to the line area and talk and laugh amongst themselves and figure out how they are going to mess up my order or do something gross to it. The whole set-up of this place is just horrible. I can't think of why anyone would actually want to eat their food here. This place is strictly for to-go and is used as a last-minute last-resort. Don't go here unless you live very close and just want quick food and don't care about someone being rude to you along the way. If you HAVE to eat here, get the Pad Woo Sen. Oh yeah, and don't think they'll care if they messed up your order. It will somehow be your fault every time.

I'm really starting to get use tot his place. They save my lunch hour at least once a week. Im trying not to get burnt out. But those crab spring rolls with the sweet and sour sauce are addictive. I also tried the steak drum roll, mostly a gyro, but finger licking good. I am going to try more of these, because this was way better than the rice dishes that I've had in the past. I'm going back!!!

Oh Tin Drum, how could I forget about the wonderfulness that is you? When I was but a poor graduate student at Georgia Tech, I relied on the inexpensive curries from your adorable Tech Square sibling (don't be jealous - there's no need for a rivalry here) for a quick and delicious meal, but after graduation, I seem to have forsaken you. Imagine my surprise and delight upon seeing you on a recent DIY Saturday, tucked away in the rear of the Home Depot parking lot! When I entered, it felt both the same and different than I remembered. I appreciated the delightful fun of ordering my meal through the iPad interface, although I admit that missing out on the personal interaction made my food feel more like "fast food" than "real food." And although I did take my food order to go, I certainly appreciated the clean lines and open space of the dining room as I waited. When I returned home, I immediately went to town on the masaman curry and rice, and it was just as delicious as I remembered. Loads of silky, creamy sauce to soak up with the pile of fluffy rice. Could easily be two meals if you're not a glutton like I am.

Went to Tin Drum today for lunch and it was ok. Basically a cheap Thai fast food restaurant. I ordered the Pad Thai and it was ok. I guess you get what you pay for. The noodles were a lot thinner (angel hair maybe) than what I am accustomed to at Thai restaurants. It lacked a little flavoring that I am use to as well. But like I said, it is cheap and it is fast. The service at Tin Drum was pretty good. We were able to order without having to wait and the cashier was very nice. The server brought out our food and cleaned the dishes up as we left. Overall, it was ok but nothing special. I would go back again if I wanted some Thai fast and cheap.

I'm updating my previous two start review from many years ago. I decided to go back and give it another shot some time ago and got the massaman tofu. And it was pretty damn good. Good on them. I have been by a few times now and it has been consistently good. I'm very glad to change this one.

We ate next door and saw huuuuge portions and pretty cheap prices. So we decided to give it a shot. There's nothing special here, its definitely ameri-asian food. It'll fill you up if you're hungry, but do much more than that. It's not bad good, but again, not special.

Maybe I'm too easy going, but this place is pretty tasty and great for my pain in the ass paleo diet. I got a large chop chop salad and added beef, along with a thai basil roll. I got a shit ton of beef for my money, and the salad was huge. I also work a few business down and I think the manager rang me up half off because of it. AWESOME. if you know its not going to be enough food or something, add or sub out. the food isnt bad at all.

We were in the hood, we were hungry, and that Italian place next door was busy. Being the holidays, I'm trying to eat on the healthier side when I can, so I was curious about Tin Drum's offerings. Turns out they post all of their nutrition facts on their iPad menus: handy! While I'm a big fan of the ease of an iPad menu, I'm aware that there are many folks out there who aren't so technologically advanced. And when these people find themselves face to face with such technology, the rest of us are screwed. Even though there was a real-life cashier taking orders in addition to the two iPads, it took an inordinately long time to order. And we ordered drinks and didn't get cups. And most of the tables were dirty. So yes, the service/layout/ordering process could use some work. The food, however, was better than I was expecting it to be. My salad was huge and the chicken was really well flavored (with a yellow curry powder) and quite yummy. Could have used a little less iceberg and a little more yummy topping (avocado would be heaven up in there) but all in all, a satisfactory meal.

You always wonder when you find a place that rocks your world...could it possibly as good the next time. Guess what...tin drum did not disappoint. Did a curry bowl this time...chicken, broccoli , peppers and tomatoes in a scrumptious reddish sauce. Velvety good. The white rice is sticky with ever so subtle nutty under tone. rice isn't on my diet, but i just couldn't resist...very little discipline on my part when there are moments (and food) to savor. But the real highlight this time was the chicken curry egg roll. As i was deciding what i wanted, this young woman comes in and orders 2 chicken egg rolls ...are they good? "i crave them," she says. So add it to the order...and now you can add tin drum chicken egg roll to my list of things i will crave...again! When i come back w my daughter who craves good cream cheese rolls, I'll have the chicken and revisit my joy.

I went to This Tin Drum today and it was a terrible experience. Normally when I go to Tin Drum I like to look at the menu because I rarely order the same thing. But they only had one and someone else had it. So I used the little kiosk thing to place my to-go order. This is the first time I had ever placed a to-go order at Tin Drum and the first time I used the kiosk. The Kiosk didn't give me any feedback on how to get my order and the cashier seemed to be avoiding talking to me. I ordered a teriyaki taco, a thai taco and a spring roll. After waiting 30 minutes to get my order I got back to my office to eat and I had two thai tacos which was annoying but not a big deal. Then I start to eat them and realize they hardly have any sauce on them. They were practically dry. The only thing that was good from the whole experience was that my spring roll was pretty tasty.

I've been eating at Tin Drum since the first location opened at Georgia Tech. The food was good with consistent quality until recently. Multiple good items have been removed from the menu (Curry Katsu, shrimp roll, pineapple fried rice) and the items that are still on the menu taste blander than they were before. I don't know the motivation behind the menu/recipe changes but it has been enough to cause me to frequent Tin Drum much less than before. If I had rated Tin Drum 4 months ago, it would have been 4 stars.

While it's not going to blow anyone away with authentic eastern flavors, ingredients imported directly from Asia, and artful Japanese chefs behind the scenes, Tin Drum is a really good place to get a quick, pretty fresh Asian-inspired meal. I always get the Japanese Katsu curry, which has a surprisingly moist panko-braded fried chicken cutlet in a spicy sauce with rice. I am always impressed with that chicken; it's definitely better than the chicken that goes in the other dishes. I've tried a couple stir fries and noodle dishes, and none are bad. My sister always gets the Pad Woon Sen, which is really good with some sriracha added. Service is usually friendly, and there are often a lot of the same people serving. They have an interesting iPad-based ordering system to use if you choose. Sometimes I'm torn between using it and just talking to the guy who walks up as I'm half-way through ordering, but it's novel, at least. It's a good standby for a meal when nothing much is going on.

I went to Tin Drum today based on my colleagues' recommendation. While ordering on the counter-mounted iPad was interesting, it was not a comfortable experience. Part of that was because it was my first visit and I was unfamiliar with items on the menu and with the way in which one selected the various components. I'm sure it would be easier with repeat visits. Unfortunately, the food made it improbable that I will learn how to order quickly and easily on their system. The rice was undercooked and hard, the green curry sauce thin. If they can't do a basic chicken-green bean-rice-and-curry sauce dish right, I'm loathe to try other items. I'll pass on this location, but may try another Tin Drum in case this was simply a poor set of cooks.

Service: order by the counter, they bring the food to your table. Food: - Miso soup bowl? Tasted more like a spicy curry soup than anything else - Teriyaki Chicken Tin Drum Roll? Just like above, curry-like chicken and they forgot my sauce. Sauce tasted like the bottled teriyaki sauce from Costco. - They also forgot my brown rice until I reminded them. Ambience: trying to be trendy with techno-ish music, but it didn't really work with the crowd that was inside, the decor, or the quality of food. It's definitely more "fusion" than anything else. I felt misguided by entree titles, which didn't accurately reflect their taste. Also, quite salty! At least it wasn't that expensive!

Amazing tip of the day: There's a BOGO coupon for this location in the Entertainment Book. An even better tip is you should buy the Entertainment Book. Anyways, I always get the Massaman Curry and a few of the $1 crispy rolls. For an order at the counter place I really think the curry here is out of this world. Even reheated this stuff is great. They even top it with some avocado slices which adds to the dish. My gf gets random stuff and whenever I try it I still like my dish better, but hers are pretty good. This place is a pretty good deal even without the coupon. Lunch/dinner for two under $20. Hit it up after you're done looking at flat screens in Best Buy or buying pansies at the Home Depot.

I went in and they have cool self ordering screens. You can search by category or calorie count. Environment is nice and food is semi healthy and very well priced! I ordered the tikka masala and got a very large portion with rice for only $8! Very fresh and delicious!

This place seems like a fast food Asian cafe. For this reason I gave it 3stars as it is better than other fast food Asian places I have been. It seems like someone in the back actually cooks your food fresh unlike the other places who have food over warmers all day. Was it the best food I ever had, no, of course not. Don't come to Tin Drum expecting a gourmet meal. Come to grab a quick better-than-a-drive-thru bite to eat when you don't feel like cooking yourself. The vegetable spring roll was OK but a little oily. The basil roll was refreshing, however I was a little disappointed that they served it to me with the wrapper broken. I had the "Tin Drum" as my entree and it was tasty however I felt they gave way too much rice. Would I eat here again? Sure.

Cheap, fast, reliable decent asian food. This location has easy parking and is never crowded. I've had the pork katsu and the Thai Chicken Drumroll. Both were good, though I preferred the Thai Chicken Drumroll - asian flavors that don't require chopsticks (not that you have to eat asian food with chopsticks, but I always try, mainly to convince myself that I'm a somewhat savvy eater). I've never actually eaten in the restaurant - just take out. It's fast and easy.

This is just bad. Awful. I only ate here because traffic prevented me from going anywhere else. Waste of $9.00. The noodles weren't cooked and the computer messed up my order and gave me shrimp in my soup.

Delicious. me likey. I lived in Thai town in LA for about 5 years as a bachelor. So needless to say I ate a lot of Asian take out. One of may favorite dishes was Pad Woon Sen. Simple noodle dish. But only one place made it really well. So when I went here and found it on the menu, I was pretty suprised. Probably not as suprised as I was to taste how great it was. The curry rolls were great too. Some good southern sweet tea to boot. Dang this place is the bomb. Yellow curry !!!! There was a party in my tummy ! Try it , you'll like it

Tin Drum used to be good, but my last two visits have been mediocre. I hoped they were having an off-day but now it seems to be a trend. First, my veggie eggroll tasted like black pepper and nothing else. I looked into the roll and saw a ton of black pepper sprinkles. Next, they messed up my friend's order and then gave her attitude for sending it back. We could hear the cooking staff audibly complaining about it being sent back. I later overheard a customer complain that he received a messed up order also. The sauce covering my entree was too strong and i had to scrape it off to have some chicken.

Before I would give this place a three for being hit or miss with certain dishes. Some dishes sound deliciously mild then maim your insides with a fury that no pepper on this earth could ever dream of providing while occasionally a spicy dish comes out so mild that I'm left wondering if I simply misread what "spicy" is in the dictionary. There are a few shining stars on the menu that taste wonderful, but sometimes I'm tired and I don't want to play a game of Battleship with my food. Then along came the Chop Chop Salad. What the heck? WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY ORDERING LIFE. It's smooth, it's creamy, it's crunchy, it's cheap, it's delicious! It's my new favorite thing to order (along with stealing a piece of chicken or two from the boy's bowl). The salad alone is a total upgrade, sort of like realizing there's a better fish in the sea. Yum. Other favorites are the panang curry, the basil rolls, pad thai, and Japanese katsu. I could do without much of the rest of the menu, but those items and that heavenly salad (what's in it, crack?!) really hit the spot when I need a cheap Ameri-Asian fix.

Back when in an old job, I worked in an office near the mall. Occasionally my officemates and myself would go to lunch at said mall. In the food court, a "Japanese" place stood side-by-side next to a "Chinese" place. It wasn't long before we discovered that no discernable difference existed between the two places' food. Only the presence of large amounts of soy sauce and presumably MSG made each dish nominally Asian. And thus, I began to refer to the two collectively as "vaguely Asian." My co-worker Brett would declare on mall lunch days, "I'm going to have vaguely Asian" and choose whatever line was shortest between the two eateries. I say all this because The Tin Drum is better than vaguely Asian. No, it's not quite authentic, not by a long shot. But at least when you order a Thai-influenced dish, you can discern the Thai flavors. Same with Chinese as well as Japanese. It's clean-looking and very sleek. The food is college student affordable and served up quickly. Yes, it's Buford Highway by way of McDonald's, but for what it is (cheap, pan-Asian fare), it's pretty good.

What a beautiful day in Atlanta - the sun was in and out of the clouds, and the winds were blowing just enough for a pleasant breeze but not annoying to where your hair was constantly flying in your face. Had lunch today outside on their "patio" and by "patio" I mean rusty and dirty chairs and lobby tables of which we were taking up one of the two total tables outside. Who doesn't like a nice scrub down with water and napkins before sitting down in their chairs? For the price of the food ($18 total for two entrees and a thai tea), it's decent. I had the pad thai, and it was a bit on the dry side, but the flavoring wasn't too bad. My boyfriend had the chicken tiki masala, and it was decent as well. One thing I will note are the portions of the food relative to the price. You get a good size plate of food, and I even had to bring some of my leftovers home. But beware, the leftovers do not microwave deliciously well. Eck!

Tin Drum is a guilty pleasure of mine. I used to get the Mango Chicken Stir Fry from this cute little Chinese cafe near my old apartment. I was so sad when they closed, but someone told me that the same owners started Tin Drum. It's very likely since they still have my comfort dish. It's vaguely like sesame chicken, but with mango, green peppers and jalapenos - sweet and spicy is my thing. I don't remember it being served with some chicken and some tofu, but that's how it came today and I really loved it. I also really like the teriyaki wraps. Avoid the curries and traditional dishes and stick with the dishes that are trying to be different. That's where Tin Drum shines. The staff was super nice today. I was having a rough day and it showed. I'm not sure if the drinks are usually included, but today my lemonade was included in the price of my meal.

So, the place is NOT BAD. Its good enough for me to have eaten lunch here 3 times, but to be honest, if there were another place where I can get good Chinese food in Buckhead near my job, I would try them in a heartbeat. One thing I must admit, the veggie spring rolls are awesome! Also, the curry spring roll was surprisingly delicious! I'd never had anything like it! I've tried all of the stir fry meals (Mango, Sesame, Teriyaki and Sweet N' Sour). The best, by far was the Mango, but that's not much of a compliment. The chicken tastes sort of dry, but juicy at the same time. (Weird explanation, I know) but I cannot think of any other way to describe it. If you do decide to try it and have only a few minutes to spare for lunch, I definitely recommend calling your order in. They are SUPER fast! Its usually done in 5-10 minutes, so when you get there, you just pay and go! Also, the portions are pretty nice as well. I've never remained hungry after I've finished. My advice, give it a try. It wont disappoint, but it wont astonish either.

Kids eat free when you dine in so this place gets an extra half star. Three year olds don't eat much so I like this. The menu is slightly different than other Chinese spots. I tend to try something new every time. It's not NY Chinese food but it's good. I had a few great things and some ok dishes. Sesame Chicken was good but I really enjoy their fried rice.

I have never been a fan of Tin Drum, but I'm cursed with a wife and friends who love it, so I end up getting dragged there every now and then. Most of the dishes they serve give me a very dry and distasteful flavor in my mouth, however, I finally gave their token dish a try: The Tin Drum. I know it goes against I've everything I've ever said about them, but I have to admit, it was delicious. I would probably go here more often now if it wasn't so pricey, but I won't be opposed to it as I have been in the past now. Touche, Tin Drum. Touche.

I've had 2 terrible experiences here with service and management not caring, however the good experiences I have had we're mostly related to the food I ate. The Japanese katsu curry is excellent, even when you substitute tofu instead of chicken, which you can do for any item on the menu, making it a great vegetarian friendly spot. This is a great place to go when im in the mood, since it is so convenient for me so I hope the food stays good and the service gets better..

Tin Drum and I are in a fight. I was so excited to come here and order pad thai to the exact spiciness my taste buds were craving... so i ordered it a 7. Mind you, I've never been to Tin Drum, so I asked the lady taking my order if a 7 was medium-to-hot-spicy. She said, and I quote, "yes." The food comes out. My mouth is watering in anticipation. I smell it first, as I tend to do with spicy meals. I can already tell it has been doused in pepper. I give a try anyway. I squeeze my lime and maneuver my chopsticks and take a large bite.... HOLY CRAP. Now I like hot food. i like spicy food. But this was just peppery. It wasn't seasoned well. It didn't have real heat. I thought it smelled like it was loaded in pepper, well it tasted the same way. I had to bring it back up to the counter and have them make it a modest level 3. So they bring out my wimpy level 3 pad thai. I think it'll be bland and I'll do some self-seasoning with srarachi sauce (I can't spell that...). This one is also too peppery, although edible. I just give up and eat it anyway, mainly picking out the chicken. My friend's sesame chicken was respectable and so was the egg drop soup. All in all, I would try this place again only if I did not get the pad thai. I'm beginning to think there is no good pad thai in the Atlanta area... any help?

Came here for lunch with some coworkers on a beautiful spring day in Atlanta. + Appetizers such as the samosas and basil spring rolls were enjoyed by all; the pot stickers are deep fried, boo. + Simple, bright, clean-styled loft setting with ordering at the front + Some outdoor seating + Get in, eat, get out, fast - Pho, while not terrible, is missing many components that would make it great. E.g. thin slice rare steak, jalapenos. Flavor of the broth is unique, but I would rather prefer a base broth with ability to add the spice, lime, etc. on your own. Coworkers thought rice plates were very generous in portion, but taste was only average. One coworker had come last time and said that the fried rice was excellent. Till next time! Come here for a simple lunch with friends and coworkers, or if you happen to be at The Home Depot which shares the same parking lot. Expect to share rice plates if not overly hungry.

Okay, I do not like most Asian food except for Japanese but I really expected this place to surprise me. Nope. I ordered the pad thai and it was oily and bland. The place was brightly lit with fast and friendly service but the food sucked. I'll be back for another go with another menu item.

This place is ok, however the facility is worn, tired and needs some sprucing up. A friend and I stopped by for lunch yesterday. First think I notice walking in was the lack of a menu board. We had to wait until we go to the counter to find menus. Not a good thing if you are trying to move a line along quickly. Food was ok. Front of the house was dirty. If the front is dirty, who knows about the back of the house. Lots of high dust, the storage areas above the bathrooms seemed disheveled. Food splattered on the wall - Probably Jerry T's 3 year old - See previous review. The bathrooms needed some attention. Gentleman will one day put on a show to Sydney Marcus drivers. They have a cling on the floor to ceiling bathroom window that someone eventually damage. Metro shelving with supplies stored in the front of the house. Clean the place up a bit, throw some paint on the walls I might try it again. Atlanta needs a Pei Wei Diner, they do it right.

The menu has wonton soup. If you order the wonton soup, the person says "We don't have that anymore." That all he says and stares at you. If you order the curry chicken salad because they don't have the wonton soup anymore, it's $7 for three pieces of processed chicken, a pile of iceberg lettuce, and shredded carrots. This would be a good lunch place if they replaced their menu and actually cared.

Good variety of asian dishes that are quick and reasonable. They are flexible with ingrediants; I've swapped shrimp instead of chicken. They have stations where you can place your order electronically, but every time I start to use it the cashier says he'll take my order. I'll probably go here again when convenient.

I didn't get a lot of food when I got here.. so my rating is kind of limited. I got the crab and cheese spring rolls. they were GREAT! the sauce they serve with it compliments it very well. almost like a crab rangoon but BETTER. no compliants.

If you want some quick Asian fare, here's your best option. These guys churn out dishes in no time. You get in, you order up front at the cashier's, you pay, you sit at your table, your food gets to you, you eat. Simple and easy. They are by no means authentic or high cuisine, but you get what you pay for which is a nice big bowl of rice or noodle or curry, sometimes the portions are enough to take home an after meal! I have eaten at this location and several others many times, sometimes with friends and I can assure you that service line keeps running round the clock. The food has never taken anything more than a few minutes to get to our table, and always hot and tasty. We recently took home some penang curry and some fried rice - great food, hot, right spices, you cant go wrong. I'd recommend this place for weekend or weekday lunch and dinner - if you dont care about service and all you want is a nice big bowl of hot food worth your money, you've come to the right place.

Is this super-awesomely-authentic pan-Asian cuisine? Nope. But it is pretty decent, filling, quick, affordable, and customizable with tofu options? Yup! So I like it!! A new one will soon be opening on Broad Street downtown, and since I will be a GSU student, you bet I'll be going there for lunch some days. I've only tried two things there so far - the Teriyaki Veggie bowl and the Tofu Panang. The Panang is hands down my favorite and I am craving some coconutty-goodness right now. Mmm.

Eh, this place is pretty strange. The flavors were weird and not right. Hot and sour soup tasted like beef broth straight up. The portions were tiny unless you wanted a plate full of rice topped with a little chicken and broccoli. It's definitely not chinese, but it's barely even asian.

For what it is I enjoy Tin Drum. It's a nice quick lunch spot, the veggies are fresh, most if the sauces are good and I feel nice and full when I finish. You get plenty of meat an veggies in your entree which can be an issue with some stir-fry places. The iPads for self serve ordering are a nice touch too (you can still order from a human if that suits you)

I liked this place alot actually. Lost my virginity to thai tea. Its good stuff. Nothing I'd order on a regular b/c I like my good ole southern sweet tea better. This tea reminded me of an English tea. Hints of cocoa. Think tea with milk. The curry roll was delicious dipped into the sweet sauce. The vegetable spring roll was really good too. Fresh and crispy. The soup suprised the heck out of me! It was Huge for the price. I got the egg drop soup and it was delish as well. I also tasted someones ramen miso soup and it too was good with a hint of spiciness that could warm you up in just a second or two. The chicken thai drumroll is what I'm muching on now and it's ok thus far. I like the taste of cilantro it adds that freshness to any dish. I see myself coming back again. Next time I'll probably try more rolls and a different soup. My neighbors green curry looked pleasing and I wish I had gotten the crab and cheese roll. Well... definitely next time because there will be a next time for me.

My visit to Tin Drum was ok. The decor was fun. The staff was friendly. But my food was just mediocre. I had the mango rice bowl, which had a nice kick to it, and I subbed shrimp for the chicken. I was very disappointed to find the the shrimp was heavily battered and fried. I really wasn't expecting that in this type of dish, and it did not say fried on the menu. Well, being on a diet, I proceeded to take all the fried coating off the shrimp. That's when I noticed that some of them looked to be fried with part of the tails left on. Ew. Overall, the bowl was spicy and I liked the sauce, but it was mostly rice with not enough shrimp, mangos or peppers. I would rather go to Noodle.

Great place for lunch with a versitle asian menu. I love the Sign Chow Men, and the Tin Drum Chicken. The staff can look a little dodgy at times, but for fast food, it is a great lunch spot.

some people like Tin Drum some people dont.. I found myself addicted to tin drum i have to stop myself going back the second day each time i eat there.. the food is not authentic but the taste is above average... crab and cheese rolls are very good and i like the curry as well... just that sometimes their meat is very big, like they are too lazy to portion it or something... but a very good value for the price you pay... haha

Nastiest Pad Thai I have ever tried. Oh, wait, triple watered down Thai iced tea they serve might actually win the nastiest food award. Disgusting!

The portion size and quality of the food make this a good call for a quick lunch or takeout. I recently came here right before a meeting, and we were in and out in 22 minutes flat. Not bad. The interior is bright, food comes out quickly - you'll pay first, then they'll bring it out to your table. (if its busy, it may take a couple tries for them to find you - they go by first name). If you get an entree and drink, it'll run you just under ten bucks. Sure, the chopsticks are the supercheap ones that give you splinters, but you can always switch to the fork. Every time I come here, I find myself getting full just as I reach the bottom of my bowl.

When I moved from on-campus living at Georgia Tech to an area north of campus, I was thrilled that Tin Drum moved with me. This location is nearly an exact replica of the original in Tech Square--the same pictures on the wall and everything. The food is fast and cheap, at ~$6.50 for a very large bowl of food. I always leave with leftovers! The food is good, about the quality that you would expect for the price and speed, but still a great value. Whenever I'm in the area, it's my first choice for a quick lunch. The downside is the odd afternoon hours. They're closed 4-6pm M-F and 3-5pm on weekends. If you eat a late lunch, as I do, be careful about those hours.

I've tried this place a couple of different times and it's just lack luster. Ordered spring rolls and they were too oily and greasy. I think I will pass in the future.

Good, quick Thai fusion food. The Green Curry with Chicken is always a hit. Seems to satisfy my fix when I can't make it elsewhere. The Four Square check-in offer at the Sidney Marcus location of a free Thai roll is also a plus!

Months later and my review remains the same. Compared to the locations at Atlantic Station & the one in Dunwoody - this restaurant is awful. I find the staff somewhat rude - almost arrogant. 80% of the tables wobble enough to drive you crazy. The floors are painted concrete and the paint has peeled up all over making it look dirty - always (not a very appetizing environment). Rice portions remain small. The chicken curry roll I had on this past (and might I add my FINAL visit) tasted spoiled. Not recommended. If you bought the groupon deal - take your vouchers to the Dunwoody location.

Fast casual dining - Asian fusion style. Avoid the Chicken Tikka Masala. The wraps aren't bad. The mango sesame chicken is ok, too. You must be going here because you don't know what else is in the area? (Or maybe you bought the Groupon?) Head thee to Buford Hwy!

I like it a LOT... I have tried so many things from them... all good! Every time I think of having some noodles I think of them ;o)

This is maybe a slight step up from Doc Chey's (which I do not like). The wonton soup was not very good, and my chicken curry with rice noodles was decent. Not anything I'd go out of my way for, but not totally offensive either.

I just left the Tinn Drum on Piedmont after dining with @divasindefense. I can say my meal is always grand. Out of all my visits gazing at the "Andy Warhol" photo, I never thought to ask about it. Out of curiosity, today I did! A guy named Joe, the powerful meal-runner, gave me the most detailed, fresh out the training manual respose. The guy was on it! Kudos to Joe and his training.

I'm surprised - I liked the place. Yes, it's one of those hip quasi-asian places that I have strong scorn for - last time I tried Tin Drum (over at Perimeter) I wasn't really impressed with their pad thai (and their spring roll - why charge for it?). But I needed something different as I was heading my way home from work - no mood burgers, steaks or pasta (there wasn't that much variety in food in the last few days). So this time I went in, and looking over the minue, I ordered the Manderin Fried Rice. As I gave the menu back, I started to wonder how they would mess it up (it would be sad if they did mess it up - it's just rice that is already cooked a few hours ago, stir-fried in a wok with a dash of soy sauce - if you mess that up, you have no business cooking Asian food). At any rate, I got it, along with a single Vietnamese Spring Roll (that looks suspiciously like a chinese spring roll, except you pay extra for it) and. . . it's pretty good. In fact, it taste just like the fried rice I ordered back in Los Angeles from TG Express, except it is not so heavy. And when you top it with spring roll dipping sauce, it quite excellent. So it's a go for this place. It's worth stopping by, at least for take out. However, I am not giving the place 4 stars, simply because it is rather inane to have to pay separate for a single spring roll. As a side note, in the interest of public education this is what a Vietnamese Spring Roll looks like: kikifood.blogspot.com/20… sightmagazine.com.au/sto… As you can see, the wrapper is translucent - it's actually made up rice. You usually buy them in packs and rather than frying them, you put the sheet in very warm water, then when it gets soft, wrap r it around the shrimp, veggie or whatever you like. I should know. I tried making lumpia (which are Filipino egg rolls) and I bought the wrapper by mistake. I decided to go ahead anyway and use it. The result? Let just say that at least the filling was good.

We went here for a quick lunch before I left Atlanta and I thought it was OK. I ordered the pad woon sen with tofu and I was impressed when the cashier asked me if I still wanted egg. Not every quick service place would cue in on vegetarian preferences so quickly. Maybe I'm too jaded and take it for granted that service is just usually bad? Anyway, the noodles were ok, definitely nothing exciting, I jazzed it up with some soy sauce. It was cheap and filling. Not being from ATL, I don't know about good asian places, but I would prefer Pei Wei to get a quick fix.

It's hit and miss on the food. It's not authentic Asian (nor does it ascribe to be). It's relatively inexpensive. This all you need to know...decide accordingly.

Very good. Huge Portions. During my first time the servers were very helpful despite the lunch rush!

I suppose one could call this a noodle shop, but it is not very authentic. It is sort of a "bastardized" American version of Asian street food dishes. The spring rolls are horrible. The rice dishes average, and the noodle dishes beg for more flavor than simply soy sauce. The Tin Drummer Rolls are the best thing, they wrap meats in warm pita-like bread and serve them with a dipping sauce. The atmosphere is cute, and the concewpt is there, I just wish they would tweak the menu and recipes a bit to make me come back.

I have been here a couple of times and left extremely annoyed each time. I had heard good things about this place but the quality of food is at the same level as a Panda Express in a mall food quart....lacking. The staff is horrible. My girlfriend and I went in about 10 minutes before they closed one night to place a takeout order and they told us they were closed just so they wouldn't have to serve us. Another time, we went about 45 minutes before close and ate there and her Pad Thai noodles were chewier than beef jerkey. I would never recommend this place to a friend.

Yippee! Hooray! Tin Drum is a welcomed new addition to the Buckhead dining scene. This fast, casual option for vittles opened recently in the new shopping center at Piedmont and Lindbergh. The menu is divided into several categories including the following: noodle bowls, rice bowls, salads, soups. The standard components of an Asian restaurant's menu, but well-varied. The fare is relatively expensive for lunch -- I dropped $10.18 --- but oh so worth it. I ordered the Massaman curry with tofu and extra veggies. You can substitute tofu for any meat option on the menu. Delicious! Even the Coke/Diet Coke mixture I created from the fountain was sublime. I always love discovering new places that are easy and satisfying. PLACES, not people. Thank you.

Food was good. I liked the coconut soup. Service is quick. But, it was cold and all the visitors were moving around to find a table that the cold air was not blowing on. Great for a humdrum day

It's actually been a lot better lately. True to form, I've hit them up repeatedly for the same dishes and whatever streak of wilted food shortages they were going through is apparently over. Chili Udon forever!

This was my go to for a quick and easy dinner when I lived across the street at Aventine. Tin Drum is a dependable noodle joint. They have huge portions so you can have something to reheat later in the night. There menu is pretty limited though. I definitely got sick of many of the dishes by the time I moved. Some of them were way to strong tasting for their own good. On the plus side, it tasted better as I became more drunk later in the night.

I tried this place out, based on Rebekah's review, and I have to admit that it was pretty good. Now, it didn't blow me away, but it was definitely good. The place is a little on the small side, which can make a busy lunch situation a little anxiety-inducing, but other wise, it was okay. One thing though, they don't really vent the cooking fumes very well, because when you leave, you really smell like a wok for the rest of the day.

Tin Drum has pretty good thai/asian food for the price. You can add or substitute to the items on the menu. It's pretty fast, if it was closer to my house I'd go there 3 times a week.
