New to the neighborhood is Angry chefs take on italian food and the results are pretty delicious. The prices are reasonable for food and especially beer which is a nice surprise. You have never had anything like the clam pizza here, which is best described as clam alfredo on a pizza and dont be shied away if you think it will be dry like most white pizzas. If you like clams your crazy not to order it. The calamari rhode island style is a great way to start your meal. Ill be back, for the clam pizza as you can imagine.

The Scoutmob deal is a very good value, so everyone should give it a try. I am not really a big pizza fan, but these slices were very tasty and the crust is nice. If you like thin crust, this is the place to go.

Take advantage of the Scoutmob Handpicked deal to try out this place! The highlights for me include the pizza flavor & crust, milkshakes, and mussels appetizer. You can either park in the parking lot across the street or park on the street. Door is on the side behind the staircase. Love the decor of the place. I don't think they take reservations. Highly recommend these items: - milkshake (made with High Road Craft ice cream and Southern Swiss Dairy Milk) - heavenly - mussels - this appetizer is great for sharing, the sauce definitely makes the dish - Riverview Farms meatball, basil, chile oil, & banana peppers pizza - delicious! love the spicy kick to it Items that I wasn't too crazy about: - garlic knots - the ones we got tasted under-baked? very hard and chewy... I couldn't really taste the garlic - ham with mushroom & balsamic pizza - the combination of overly salty ham & sweet/sour balsamic vinegar did not work for me

Great brunch today - 45 minute wait at Rosebud - had a great chilled asparagus soup and BBQ chicken sandwich. Try it out!

Since revisiting after their deli update, I'm a BIG fan. LOVE their fresh bagels - absolutely delicious and a good size. Veggie sandwich and the bagel with lox are both delicious. Friends I've gone with have tried the pastrami and reuben and both approved. Very happy they are back!

As a person allergic to Milk products, I have never been to a restaurant that couldn't find a way to accommodate my allergy. This was the first time I was told, "yes, the cook can make it without butter, but we can't promise it will taste very good." Really? This is the response you tell the customer? It was a sad example of restaurant service.

Epic letdown. The food was so incredibly bland. My table had 2 appetizers, fettuccine, pizza and calzones. Every item tasted subpar. The worst part of the experience was when my boyfriend asked to add onion to his calzone and was told the chef has a rule against adding anything to his menu items... Excuse me?? It is a pizza place! There is so much delicious food in the Highlands, this place does not stand a chance. Very shocked it is in the same ownership group as Family Dog and Rosebud, because both those establishments are quite nice. No real complaints about the server we had though. Also, the place is overrun with children and babies. Go anywhere else.

Sometimes I get blinded by how much I love the Morningside area so I think everything there is great but Timone's is actually really really good. A friend and I stopped in around 6 on a Friday night. There was no wait to be seated in the charming back booth area. I love the aesthetic of the Morningside restaurants. They are homey, clean, a little quirky, and polished. The bar area was inviting and the back patio was filled with cute families. Beers here come as half pints, pints, or pitchers and are very reasonably priced. They also had a few canned craft beers which can be fun. They were out of several options the night I was there, but I'm sure as a new restaurant they are still working out some kinks with their supply need. Timone's serves house-made sodas, but apparently they are a bit of an acquired taste. We started with some garlic knots after they came highly recommended by two different friends. After scanning through the range of interesting pizzas, we decided to go with pepperoni. Though it wasn't one of the interesting artisan pizzas on the menu, its always good to try a classic at a new place. The garlic knots were very very delicious. They were covered in freshly baked garlic and herbs. I would absolutely order these again. I can foresee myself ordering just these actually so I don't have to share with any one. The pizza was also perfectly tasty. The plates the pizza is served with are not ideal. They are small oval plates with high ridges. A round, normal plate would have been preferred. Parking is simple in the large lot across the street. The service was excellent. Our waiter was really quick with water and drinks and the food came out in a reasonable time. I look forward to getting back to Timone's to try some of their more interesting pizzas.

The service was horrible; I've never seen anything like this. The owner made my pregnant sister cry by yelling at us for moving a table. We've been here many times, and while the food is good, this horrible service is completely unacceptable and we will never go back.

I have not had such a delicious sandwich since moving to the south - reminds me of a good NY/philly deli!

Sad to say, especially since I like the Family Dog and Rosebud, but Timone's is not my favorite. Let's start with why shall we? One of the things I did like was the berry and peppermint soda I got. I thought it would taste odd, but it was surprisingly refreshing. Also the service was good; our waiter was on top of things. The caesar salad (which I rarely ever eat) was tasty. I added anchovies which cost $0.75 and asked them to go light on the dressing. Thank goodness because the salad was still dressed a bit too much for me, but it was a lot closer to what I enjoy then what I imagine full dressing would be. On to the things I didn't enjoy. Well the salad was $8.50.. actually $9.25 if you add in the anchovies. It was a bit larger than a typical side salad, but still a caesar salad isn't made up off all that much other than romaine lettuce, cheese, bread crumbs, and dressing. The only other salad offered was $8. Pretty pricey for someone who likes to get a small side salad before the main dish arrives. To be honest, I don't have a problem paying $9 for a really interesting smaller salad with interesting ingredients, but this is a fuckin' caesar! We also got garlic knots for $6. Again overpriced for what it is; 3 small crunchy knots in a bit of oil and sprinkled with a bit of cheese. There might have been a couple of slices of garlic in the oil. I hardly ever eat at Mellow Mushroom, but damn they know how to make extra crust taste good. Timone's, not so much. Finally we ordered the clam pizza. It had a good flavor, but the crust was ultra crunchy. When I went to bend a piece of pizza, it broke in half. The only other issue with the pizza is that while the flavor was good, the flavor of clams was completely indiscernible; it just tasted like spicy cheese pizza. All in all I will not be coming back here, not like anyone really cares. Next time my friends ask I will suggest we hit up Rosebud or Family Dog; much better choices compared to Timone's.

First off, I would ordinarily give this newly-opened restaurant 1 star but given that it was opening night, things are bound to be hectic and service staff has yet to find a groove. For a while there the staff had a look of panic in their eyes as people filled in. The menu looks really good and the decor is really interesting. You can definitely tell that is a Ron Eyester restaurant from the murals and signs on the wall. The food was decent but it definitely did not blow me away. We were planning on ordering pizza but we were told that the kitchen had just run out of dough. Kind of hard to believe that a pizza restaurant runs out of dough by 7:30, but it was opening night. We also ordered the meatballs but they were also out of that too. It was a little annoying. We ended up ordering the spaghetti with meat sauce, the chicken parm sandwich, fried clams, and the garlic knots. The garlic knots were very well baked and had a great garlicky taste to them. The chicken parm sandwich is Huge! I had to take the other half home. It was a little light on the marinara sauce but otherwise perfect. I really enjoyed the bread that they use with the sandwich. The fried clams were standard. Didn't order the baked clams but they looked really good. Just based on looks I would recommend ordering them. Overall an ok experience. I will have to return to try the pizza.

3.5. I was so excited to try Timone's. Being a native New Yorker, I am always on the prowl for good pizza. So when a pizza place finally opened in my hood, I was very excited. Service- fantastic except the dumb hostess (she was very young, so maybe I'll let that slide). Food- this is where I'm confused. The whole place tries VERY hard to pretend it is an exact replica of a true neighborhood NY pizza place: they claim to have installed some device to replicate the exact tap water in NYC...from the consistency of the dough, I'd say it didn't work :/ Timone's is nothing like a NY pizzeria. What it IS- a gourmet pizza place with the exceptional vision of Ron Eyester. Expect unique toppings, local ingredients, a quirky drink list, etc. Now this Is not a bad thing- I'm up for all types of pizza! NY style, Chicago, gourmet, pizza bagels... Seriously, all pizza is good. Timone's should just go with being a fantastic pizza place that will excite your taste buds like Rosebud and the Family Dog do. Reasonable prices. Clam pizza was perfect. They should stock up on the clementine beer; though they were nice enough to give me what was left of it for free. I'll be back to try another crazy pie. I agree with previous reviewers- the plates do not suit the shape of the pizza! and you literally can't cut the pizza either- so strange! But still good.

Timone's is great. Love the Garlic Knots and the Sausage Pie w/ banana peppers. I've had one of their special pizzas on a Friday night -- the substance of which I can't recall -- but it was fantastic. It's become my go to spot for pizza. I was amazed this place wasn't more highly rated, but then I read some of the poor reviews. Ashleigh P.'s in particular would be hilarious if it wasn't so sadly thoughtless - she gave Timone's a bad review because other reviewers on Yelp said it was open for lunch on weekdays but it's not, and after admitting that she didn't eat there at all. What a thoughtless half-wit. More room at Timone's for me I guess.

Food quality has really improved since they opened. The pizza has moved from fair to very good. Crust was perfectly done, flavor was great and a great overall experience. Will be visiting more often!

I dined here last weekend and it was AMAZING. Started with a caesar salad, which was probably the best one I've had yet in Atlanta. They crumble the croutons on top, giving every bite that perfect bit of crunch. The cheese pizza had a thin but chewy crust and the eggplant parmesan was just delicious. I'll definitely be back! EDIT: Just an FYI - I visited Timone's AFTER they made some necessary menu tweaks so if you haven't been since they opened, definitely give them another try!

House made olive oil and wine on tap!?! I'm in. I read a lot of the reviews before going here and things have changed since those were posted...there are now high chairs, so no need to worry, we can enjoy this place as a family. The service is good and the pizza is quite delicious. We always order the white pizza with sauce on the side and it makes for one great meal. Here's a tip for the vegetarians and meat haters; the red sauce is not vegetarian friendly. The fresh mozzarella is a but harder than you would expect but still quite tasty, especially with the fried capers and fresh garlic. They also do pizza by the slice, cheese and pepperoni...but it took as long if not longer to receive ours so don't think it's a time saver.

The Angry Chef a.k.a Chef Ron Eyester is taking over Morningside, as his empire expands on N. Highland with new Italian eatery Timone's is now open. The restaurant, named in honor of his mother, is a tribute to his New York roots with true classic pizzas, delicious Italian dishes and themed decor that will have you looking for your subway train to arrive. Menu items to be on the lookout for include the fried chicken parmesan sandwich, tasty mussels, crispy calamari, and baked ziti. Wash them down with crafted cocktails, local brews or some house-made fruit sodas. The blackberry one was cool and refreshing! It's a new restaurant, so there are bound to be some hiccups with service, but that normally straightens out in a month or so. Give them a try!

I would love to be able to give a review of the food, but I can't because I was turned away. At 9:15 pm on a Friday night. The employee I spoke with informed me that they close at 9 pm every night. I've never heard of a pizzeria that closed that early, and especially not on weekends. If they expand their hours, then I would love to eat there.

I really had high hopes for Timone's....it's super cute inside and I thought everyone I dealt with there was very nice. We live right down the street and walked over to get takeout last night. I ordered a cheese calzone (the highlight of the meal), a white pizza, a cheese pizza, and the eggplant parmesean. The eggplant was VERY badly burned....as in, someone left the sauce on high sticking to the bottom of the pan for so long that it turned hard and black. It was gross and inedible and it was pretty unbelievable to me that nobody noticed that before it came off the line?? The pizzas are only ok. Crust is a little tough, toppings are a little dry, sauce is a little off. And I love pizza in general...so I'm not all that hard to please. The calzone was the highlight for sure--delicious crust (why isn't their pizza dough this good?), garlicky flavor, yummy cheese, cooked perfectly. That was the ONLY thing I would order again. I called back after dinner and told them the eggplant was burned very badly and they pulled it off my check, which I thought was appropriate, but without some really good reason to go back and try again (i.e. free eggplant for next week or something like that), I think we'll have to cross this one off the list. I'm really suprised b/c I think the food at Rosebud is great and really carefully prepared....total letdown :(

Second trip and it has improved. It has a nice neighborhood feel and I like that it seems a little tucked away. Nice place for a beer and a slice of pizza. Finally picked one I liked. Really nice red sauce.

Updated again: One more stars since I've noticed improvement, they do now have high chairs. Service is seriously a hit or a miss. When it's good it's great. When it's bad it's awful. ---------- Man, I miss Caramba! This is the third time that we've tried Timone's since it opened. I hope they read this review and update a few things - because I love the idea of it. So, here are the highlights: The Pros: 1) Good Beer w/ Fun Glasses - I really like the concept of half pints, pints, and quarts as well as the wine options. Staff needs to be more helpful on this (see later review). 2) Fun Decor - I really like all of Ron Eyester's restaurants as far as design and ambiance. 3) 1 out of 3 of our pizzas was really good...I'd order it again in a heartbeat. The Cons: 1) Raw Flour - I understand that you need some flour to 'work' with to keep dough from sticking, but the amount of raw flour caked on the bottom of the pizza is gross. 2) Awful Chewy Crust - 2 out of 3 visits, the crust had the consistency of a Now and Later. The only positive to really hard crust - you can use the leftovers to scrape the raw flour off the bottom of your next slice. 3) Hot, Hot Sauce - I'm not talking temperature. The sauce is just too spicy. I love spicy meats, peppers, and red pepper flake on my pizza...but this spice is in teh sauce. It just doesn't have the right balance. 4) You're in Morningside...it's a pizza joint...and there are no high chairs. That's just lame. 5) Unhelpful Staff - we ordered (2) pints of the same draft beer - waiter didn't mention that they offer quarts...which are less expensive. I'll keep going back...mostly because of the convenience. I will amend my review if they get better.

My friend and I went there this past Sunday. It was their first week, so I'll give them some leeway. It's not a bad place, it's not the best, but it is good. I hope it WILL get better though - there is always room for improvement, and this place could use it. I like their interior; trendy but laid back and casual. I love the fact that they have a chef's table and you can see into the kitchen - great idea! My friend and I sat there, and we got to see what other dishes looked like. (We've concluded we must try the calamari next time, and the cheesecake looks really good!) We ordered marinated mushrooms, crispy eggplant pizza, and an artichoke and sausage pasta. The marinated mushrooms were great - pickled, doused in vinaigrette, a little drizzle of olive oil, and topped with parmesan. I enjoyed this dish, simple and the flavors were wonderful. Next up, the pizza: crispy eggplant, garlic, basil, onions, and ham. So, our waiter had a little bit of a mix up here and somehow presented a mushroom and green olive pizza to us. No worries, they ordered our actual eggplant pizza right away. Here is where it gets tricky: I enjoyed the pizza. I liked the dough A LOT. It's like bread dough, like you had a piece of bread and then put pizza toppings on top. It's not something that sits in the background as a base/stage for the pizza. It is part of the pizza, and they want to bring your attention to the dough as well. My friend was not a huge fan, but he prefers a thin crust that serves as a base/stage/setting for the actual pizza. In the end, we came to an agreement that the pizza dough would be absolutely amazing as an appetizer or side: the classic bread dipped into olive oil that is also yummy eaten alone. Lastly, our pasta: the Sausage Rigatoni. Our waiter forgot to order the pasta as well, so we waited a little longer for that. It was ok. I would not order it again. I love artichokes, but this pasta was bitter from the artichokes and overwhelmed the sausages. The red sauce ended up being way too bitter and not savory like I had thought it would be. I tried eating the sausage alone, and while I could pick up a few really good flavors of the sausage, the artichoke bitterness still made it way through and ruined it. All in all, it's okay. I will go back and give this place a second, third, or fourth chance. I don't think it's bad, I think there is room for improvement, but I am very willing to branch out and try more off their menu - especially if their marinated mushrooms hint at amazing appetizers. Besides, like I said, I really enjoyed their pizza and their pizza dough so I would go back for the pizza. They also serve slices of pepperoni and cheese if you've got some little kids/picky eaters, or if you're not interested in the idea of ordering a full pizza with different toppings. Next on my list: their calamari (it looked really really good!), and a sandwich. Maybe dessert next time ;)

Awesome neighborhood place that is super relaxed and serves up great New York style pizza. Appetizers (like the Calamari, which should be ordered Rhode Island style) are delicious and the meatball pizza has just enough kick to it that you don't have to add anything to it for flavor. Will definitely be back. Finish off with a salted caramel gelato and you're all set!

Fantastic neighborhood gem - great food with dishes like our Italian grandma's made (esp baked ziti, rice balls, chicken parm). And the staff bent over backwards to please, including a visit from one of our favorite Atlanta chefs.

As a Virginia Highlands resident and big pizza fan, I have been looking forward to trying Timone's - so I was very excited to take my friend up on a Saturday night girls' night. Sadly, every aspect of the experience was disappointing. The wait: 45 minutes at 7:30 on a Saturday night. I feel like this is reasonable. But when I asked if they could call us when a table was ready (while we had drinks at Rosebud next door, which has the same owner), I was told that they did not have a phone. When we returned 45 minutes later, we were flippantly told that we could sit "over there." "Over there" was a tall bar table with 2 chairs (there were 3 of us). We weren't told how much longer the wait would be for a table with enough chairs for us to all sit down. When we declined, we waited an additional 20 minutes. The food: When we were finally seated, the waitress told us that we had to quickly get our order in if we wanted pizza. Apparently the time that it took her to speak those words was too long because by the time she finished her sentence, they were out of pizza. Reminder: this was approximately 8:30 on a Saturday night and this is a pizza restaurant. And they were out of DOUGH. They were also out of most of the pasta dishes and a handful of the appetizers. What was left? Sandwiches. Note that we were told nothing about the possibility of them running out of food while we waited. The drinks: Thinking that this situation could still potentially be rectified, I inquired into their beer selection (they have only beer and wine). They were out of everything but PBR!! At this point, we left. I do not go out to a restaurant on a Saturday night for a PBR and a sandwich. The take away: I understand that it takes new restaurants a few weeks to work out the kinks but come on... This is not this chef's first time at the rodeo. Given my experience, I will not be back. There are too many good restaurants in Atlanta to bother risking another night out at Timone's.

So nice. We dropped half our pie on the floor and they replaced it instantly no questions asked. Great food and great people.

Started with the rice balls, good choice. Wanted to try something "different" as opposed to something I had eaten before or could get at most pie shops. I liked that they offered a Mexican Coke Float as opposed to one with American coke (trust me, there IS a difference). We ordered the chicken confit pizza. Really good. Not over loaded with toppings, just enough to blend nicely together without any really overpowering the other. Service wasn't bad, but they were also an hour from closing so they were busy prepping for that, no big deal. All in all a good experience.

  • Timothy H.

This place has wonderful pizza, the best I've had in town. I agree with the earlier reviewer who pointed out that it is totally not NY-style despite the decor. But it is delicious! This place had some growing pains, and service tended to be pretty bad at the beginning. But I think they've got that all straightened out: it's been good the last three or four times I've been there. Some menu items are way overpriced (like beer, and I wish the selection were better), but the pizza itself is worth every cent.

    (4)
  • Kim B.

I've been three times and had cheese pizza and eggplant parm thus far. Both were very tasty. Good deals on wine as well. I agree with other reviews that Timone's just needed to find it's footing. Pizza is a very personal thing, but I enjoyed the crust. And I'd rather support a local place than order from a national chain. Staff is fantastic. A very welcoming environment.

Great addition to the neighborhood. Pizza is really good and pasta is super tasty too. Prices fair for fresh ingredients. For their first 10 days open and a new concept for this group, they are doing great! Keep up the great work and we will be back often!

First time at this new (ish) pizza place. Love family dog and rosebud all owned by angry chef Ron but this pizza place was a huge disappointment. The $18, 10" pizzas had toppings and cheese spread so thin they should be renamed cheese bread with toppings. There were enough dough crusts leftover for a small personal pan pizza. Also, one pizza had enough corn meal stuff on the underside that we were making our own zen garden in the pizza tray. Beyond this disappointment they were out of pretty much every daft beer except pbr. Three of us were enjoying the terrapin pumpkin ale and ordered another round but only two pints were left in the keg. Having more than enough cheap beer over this past holiday weekend one of us opted for a cheap glass of wine. Fortunately, the waitress gave it to us for the same price of a beer. As far as comparison - for the price - friti right down the road (15 min bike ride) has better topping distribution , about the same size for about $13. Ammazza on Edgewood has bigger pizzas with more toppings for about the same price as timones and hasn't ever ran out of their expansive draft beer (to my knowledge).

We took our son there and there were no high chairs so we left. A non-kid friendly restaurant in Morningside?? What a disappointment. Don't think we'll try it again until they wise up to the neighborhood they opened in!

Such a disappointment. We went on a Sunday evening after hearing rave reviews from a friend, and that it was better than Antico. It lived up to none of our hopes and dreams. The clam strips were flavorless, overly chewy and served to us after clearly sitting for a few minutes. Not cold but certainly not piping hot. The clam tasted frozen--if you can't do clam strips correctly, just don't bother. This is a pizza place, 86 the clams and stick with the theme. $9 for a juice glass of "draft wine" feels gimmicky and like a total ripoff. Draft wine shouldn't be more expensive than a decent glass of wine at any of the other restaurants in the Highlands. The pizza, we had the meatball one, was about as exciting as the clams. The sauce was meh, the meatballs were dry and the crust was unremarkable at best. We brought home the remaining slices and they weren't even good the next day. It actually made Papa John's seem good in comparison. Nothing feels worse than a $65 bill for "draft wine," lousy pizza and gnarly clam strips. I was just happy to leave. At least our waitress was nice.

I live in walking distance to Timone's and I can't get enough of this place. Great food and service. Unique take on a pizza joint. It's places like this that will make it hard to ever leave Morningside.

I was weary of going to Timone's after reading the Yelp reviews but I decided to buy the Scoutmob deal and give it a try. We decided to play it safe and order items that had received good reviews (Meatball pizza and mussels). Our food was really good and the service was great. I hope we did not just get lucky because we're planning to bring friends there soon. I actually liked Timone's better than I like Rosebud! I will agree that the the thick, chewy pizza crust is not my favorite (I prefer thin and crispy) but that's subjective and I'm sure some prefer a thicker crust.

  • Jill S.

The food was great, as I would expect nothing less from Chef Ron. I recommend the meatball pizza- it is unique and tasty. However our service was lacking. I'm hoping it was just an off night. They were out of the first three wines we requested and our waitress sat at the bar more than helped us. I will be making a return trip for sure- I look forward to sampling their nightly specials and will hope for better luck with service the next time around.

Subpar, overpriced food with a buttrock soundtrack. $9 for literally 1/2 cup milk and child portion of pasta. "Handmade" soda tasted like air freshener. The $19 meatball pizza was OK but I wouldn't call it good. There are far better pizza options in town for sure. The gelato was salty. I hate the Grateful Dead and pretentious, disappointing food, so this obviously wasn't the place for me. I think the best place that occupied this spot was the sadly neglected Burger Tap. The experience here will prevent me from trying any of its affiliate businesses. The one plus was the attentive, friendly service from the waiter, although I must comment that we were told no inside tables were available, and were subsequently walked past two empty booths inside. We won't be back.

We were disappointed with both the pizza and the fried clams. Was really excited for both. Clams were tough and had too much batter. Pizza was really skimpy on the toppings - way too much crust.

  • Jim S.

The atmosphere is probably the best thing about this place. It's somewhat audacious effort to have flavored sodas and egg cremes in the deep south. Maybe not so surprising this nod to NYC is in an area of Atlanta filled with northern transplants (Morningside). We went one night and they ran out of pizza and about 1/2 the menu wasn't available. Honestly the place is over-priced. $3 for a small bottle of diet coke. And just like the other places owned by this guy (Family Dog, Rosebud) - not very kid friendly and sort frustratingly carries over the same draconian policy about holding/adding things off the menu. They won't allow you for example to add different things to a pizza. All of these things would be acceptable if the pizza were good but unfortunately - it's not. It tasted like something i could probably make myself when making my own and the dough is a little overwhelming. I went another time and got a Chicken Parm sandwich - again - for 12 bucks - it's really not worth it. I'd say it's worth trying but probably not a regular for me. I would go to Osteria over this place.

Is Timone's the best? No. Is it good? Yes. Will it get better? I hope so and I believe so. I had the Cheese Calzone and had asked to have sausage added to it. The waiter explained that right now they were not doing any substitutions until they work out the kinks in the kitchen. I can understand and respect that decision. The Calzone was wonderful. My guest had the Penne a la Vodka and it was excellent. The previous reviews mentioned running out of items and I have to think that most new restaurants have a challenge figuring out how much to prepare and sure they don't get it right all the time. I also read a review that mentioned that Timone's did not offer a children's menu. For this I commend them. Leave the children with a sitter and enjoy an adults night out.

We've been here 3 times since they've opened - it's been better each time, especially after they revamped the menu. We LOVE the pizza and are very happy to have a good and not-too-crowded pizza joint in the neighborhood. FOOD - We have tried 4 different types of pizzas and, unfortunately, our favorite one is no longer on the menu. With the exception of a boring white pizza, all of them had fantastic flavor. Now we go for a cheese and pepperoni...nice, simple, and delicious! We really like the crust and have not had any "flour" problems like another reviewer mentioned. - Just a pet peeve - we don't like how they don't have wine glasses. Not a big deal...but when combined with the fact that our white wine wasn't chilled, it bothered us. ENVIRONMENT - We've never had to wait for a table and have eaten both inside and out. We like the booths as well as the tables outside. The place has a nice, casual vibe and feels fairly similar to The Family Dog. Very family friendly. Location is great for those of us in Va-Hi and Morningside. STAFF - Waiters/waitresses have seemed a little out of it but I'll chalk that up to the fact that it is a new place and they are learning the ropes.

Best pizza I've had on this side of town. I had the pizza, garlic knots, and mussels: all were great especially the pizza. The wine I thought was a little pricey, and the beer menu needs some better additions; hence, why I got the overpriced wine.

I had the Handpicked Scoutmob deal - wine, an appetizer, pizza and a milkshake for $29. Not bad. The half carafe of wine was perfect for two people. We each had two glasses. Based on the recommendation of the waitress we had the calamari. It is prepared two ways. We went for the Rhode Island style, which is normally a $.75 upgrade. All I can say is wow. The plate was huge and the calamari was out of this world - the batter was good, it was cooked perfectly and the seasoning was fantastic. If I was just reviewing the calamari there wouldn't be enough stars. It seriously might be the best fried calamari I have ever had. By the time the pizza arrived we were full, so we split a single slice and took the rest home. It was good, but I still prefer the pizza I get at another Atlanta gourmet pizza spot (I won't name names). For dessert we had the vanilla milkshake, which was exactly what we were hoping for. On our next visit we'll probably just share a plate of calamari and wine. The portion is enough for a meal for two and it is really that good!

Inconsistent service, inconsistent food quality and taste. I was less than impressed with the pizza we got last Friday night. We ordered the springer mountain farms pizza with roasted red pepper sauce which we had gotten before and really liked. This time, the sauce was more like hot wing sauce than a nice, sweet, roasted red pepper sauce. The chicken was dry and tough and the crust was chewy. We ordered salads, as an appetizer and the house salad was overwhelmingly vinegary. At least the garlic knots were solid. Of the two times I have been to Timone's the garlic knots were the only thing that were consistent. I'm not sure I'd be back for a third try, it isn't worth the wait.

When i order a pizza, i like to order a pizza with tons of toppings. At timone's, i had a cheese pizza....and it was great. I didnt have to be impressed with all sorts of toppings, a simple cheese pizza did it for me. It came out hot, crunchy, and smelled delightful. Cheese and sauce spread deliciously even. Yum.

I absolutely love Timone's!!! I'm thoroughly impressed with all the yummy food & wine on tap! How awesome is that!! The garlic knots are delish as are all the pizzas I've tried so far. By far my favorite new place to grab some tasty food & good drink.

I too am really surprised by all the negative reviews. I've been twice now and sat on the porch both times--really great back there! I've tried 2 different pies and have not had any of the crust or sauce issues mentioned in other reviews. Love the pizza, love the wine, love the porch--happy to have this place in the neighborhood!

Sausage Pizza, meatballs, clams and cheesecake all blew my mind! As for the whiners, they aren't even taking phone orders, and the place is busy, deal with it. I had a great time.

Started with he Garlic knots which were heavy but delicious. Ordered the meat sauce pizza with mushrooms and smoked mozzarella. The pizza was a bit greasy for my taste, but incredibly delicious otherwise. Rave reviews from the other two guests with me. I'd put this pizza in my top 3 in Atlanta. Definitely check out this local spot.

I wish this place was better... Such a great location in Morningside. We've eaten here a couple times and both times have sent food back (either undercooked pizza, no fizz in the soda, etc). I'm gluten free and while I don't expect every pizza restaurant to have GF pizza or pasta, I do expect some decent salad choices. Salads here are really boring and basic. My husband isn't gluten free and has tried both pizza an pasta dishes, and has said both were mediocre. Too bad, the restaurant itself has a nice casual atmosphere, and patio seating. Another downside, their hours posted aren't always correct? We've shown up for lunch on a weekend and the place was dark, and obviously closed.

This place has a weird vibe. It's supposed to be reminiscent of a NY deli but the deli cases are stripped bare. Huh? The other strange thing is that you order at the counter and they bring it to your table. I expect a full service restaurant in this neighborhood. But all of that would be OK if the food were good. It isn't, at least not what I had (Grilled Reuben and potato salad.) The potato salad was a nondescript blob with absolutely no discernible taste. The Reuben was passable but nothing to get excited about and certainly not up to NY deli standards. It's pretty bad when the best thing about a deli meal is the accompanying pickle.

I love Timone's. Came here on a Tuesday night for a hot dog (turned out to be 2) and a drink. Their staff is great and fun to chat with. They also have an awesome selection of beers. The guy at the counter just asked, "What do you like?" and I said "California IPAs." He promptly poured me a delicious Creature Comforts Tropicália--slowly but surely expanding my love for Georgia beers. My two hot dogs were also really yummy, and though they didn't have relish on the spot, the cook cut up some pickled peppers especially for me. Can't beat instant freshness. I love that you can see them working right there. Since it was a Tuesday night and it wasn't too crazy, I was also able to do a little work in the joint. More than I'd be able to at Family Dog!

It's called a pizza place but it has the best sandwiches in town. I haven't even tried the pizza, can't get past the pastrami sandwich. Very nice relaxing, cool place to enjoy your meal. I only gave 4 stars because I haven't tried the pizza!

I can only write about the pizza. Shared a few slices with coworkers for lunch the other day, totally unimpressive pizza. Franklin, the pizza was overly salty and lacked taste. Not gourmet at all. The "groceries" are widely overpriced and you can find everything they offer at your nearest Kroger/Publix/etc much cheaper. I've had pizza throughout Italy and the US, this ranks among the worst non-chain representation.

Visited this lovely pizza joint last night after our wine tasting at Highland Fine Wine and it was a great experience. When you first walk in, you can't help but notice the cute decor. We were promptly seated in a booth and our server Alex was on the ball. I was happy to hear they served Crispin cider here so that was my first pick. They have a great pizza menu and dinner specials which included specialty pizzas, salads and pasta dishes. Great place to grab a great pie and catch up with friends! P.S. Their meatball pie is the BEST!

I was fortunate enough to be here during an event with a group of people. We had a chance to tried all the pizza pie. There wasn't a pizza pie that I did not like. I wouldn't mind eating any of them over again but one that really blow my mind was the cheese pizza pie. I loved the smell and the way it taste was perfect. It did not have to be garnished with any toppings for it to be my favorite.

Very cute ambiance and quiet convenient location. The service was awesome and the food was delicious. Did half and half of the chicken and sausage pies for dinner and was absolutely tasty. Will definitely return and recommend for anyone in the area.

Four of us planned to rendezvous at The Family Dog, but upon walking in last night and finding it too busy, I suggested we pop into Timone's and scope it out. Since the other three are big fans of both Rosebud and The Family Dog (I have yet to visit the canine), this seemed like a smart idea. Timone's certainly seemed more family-oriented (saw a baby or two) and more chill than its sibling across the street. You order at the counter and then seat yourself. I hadn't been to the prior version of Timone's so I can't comment on the updates but apparently they have incorporated a deli and grocery component. Even though the place supposedly closes at 9, the friendly woman working the counter let us order even though it was after 9, and the dining room was pretty occupied for a while. The Angry Chef himself brought out some of our food and even had a chat with me about the Yelp check-in offer I used. He didn't know it existed but I was able to use it without any issues. D and I shared a white pizza ($17) that unlike the version at Fellini's, has no trace of red. And homemade ricotta! Yum! The native New York City-er in our group was super complimentary about the pie, and you know how serious those New Yorkers are about pizza. B raved about his Italian sub (wow, pickled cauliflower) and C liked her Manhattan clam chowder though declared it a tiny bit too salty. D, B, & C all were satisfied with the selection of local brews on tap. Looking forward to a return visit to try other pies!

I really like Timone's! The pizza is really quite good and the atmosphere is simultaneously chill and family-friendly. We came in on a recent Tuesday night with friends and opted to sit on the patio since it was a warm evening. Our server was helpful and polite. We ordered 2 pies: the special, which was a buffalo chicken confit, and the white pizza. I ate a couple of slices of the white pizza and could have gone for more, honestly. I LOVE the construction with a crispy bottomed crust (but not papery or crackery), béchamel sauce and generous cheese action. It was 1/2 price bottles of wine the night we were there, so a few of us shared some Chardonnay. My only wish is that there were more craft beer options. Timone's is a great neighborhood joint, and I'm glad to see that it looks like it'll be sticking around!

Great garlic knots, fresh delicious sandwiches. Liked the italian sub and roasted turkey sandwiches. Great breezy back porch for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Will be back to try the pizza!

I think Timones is a great addition to Morningside. Love the space - very cool decor. We sat at the bar and while we were having drinks and catching up, the chef sent over a complimentary order of White Bean Crostini. I enjoyed the flavor of the spread even though I am not an anchovy fan. We also had the Fried New Bedford Clams and they were fresh, tender and flavorful. For our pie, we decided on caramelized onions, housemade sausage and pepperoni. I thought it was delicious. The dough was not too thin or thick - it really held it's own. The sauce, seasoning, cheese and meat all blended together nicely for a really great pizza. We also ordered some pistachio and chocolate High Road Craft ice cream. Sooooo creamy and delicious! The service was good sitting at the bar and I thought the prices were in-line with the quality of food. Definitely, a fan and and look forward to returning and tasting some other menu items.

Ron Eyester is slowly taking over this block of Morningside and I can't say I have any objections. The man certainly has some critics, but few can argue that he doesn't know how to run a successful restaurant or that his rants about overzealous customers are off target. I've never worked a day in a restaurant, but I dine out frequently enough to have witnessed firsthand the bat shit crazy requests and expectations of some restaurant patrons. That being said, Timone's is a welcome addition to the neighborhood and I have no doubts that the initial kinks will be resolved shortly - despite some shortcomings, it's still better than a vacant building, or even worse, Waffold. Food: Timone's is a New York City inspired casual Italian restaurant. The menu's primary focus is really pizza, but pastas, sandwiches, and salads are also available- there are also entree specials that rotate throughout the week. The pizza dough is a blend of Anson Mills Farina di Pizzaiolo heirloom flour and King Arthur Sir Lancelot high-gluten flour mixed with Savannah Bee orange blossom honey and sea salt. The result is really quite a delicious crust - unfortunately it's incredibly crispy, to the point where you'll be hard pressed to eat the pie with a fork and knife. I ordered the tomato pizza (heirloom and cherry tomatoes) with argula pesto, mozzarella, and goat cheese. In the end, the pizza was by no means mind blowing, but still decently flavored and sizable (16 inch diameter). Service: We arrived around 6PM on a Friday evening and were seated immediately. Our waitress arrived soon hereafter and provided consistently pleasant and expedient service throughout the meal. All the staff, from the hostess to the food runners, were on their A-game. Atmosphere: The horrifyingly iridescent lights from Burger Tap and heinous decor of Waffold have been removed in a favor of a more cohesive and welcoming aesthetic - the kitchen is lined with white subway tile and the walls are adorned with various murals of New York City inspired food designs. However, I will say that the place was absolutely littered with families and hoards of borderline feral children. Judging by the reviewers lamenting the lack of high chairs and children's menus, I suppose this was simply a function of the neighborhood demographic - however, I much prefer the adult-oriented vibe of the nearby Family Dog and Rosebud. Cost: The prices are consistent with the food quality and location. Appetizers are generally $6-$10, pizzas are $13-$17, pastas are $10-$17, sandwiches are $8-$9, and desserts are $4-$6. Other: Hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 4PM-11PM, Saturday, 12PM-11:30PM, and Sunday, 12PM-9:30PM. The restaurant can be accessed from either the front or back - the front entrance is located in the small alcove between the restaurant and the framing place next door. The back parking lot and entrance are accessible by taking a quick right off Highland onto University Drive and then a quick right onto Lanier Blvd.

The food is just plain bad - pizza, entrees, salads. We ordered a large pie, ate one piece and didn't save the rest. It's really too bad since his other restaurants are good. If only Bella pizza would switch to this spot and gain Timone's better ambiance.

Timone's may actually be the first restaurant to last in this location! We liked it a lot, from the decor, to the attentive (but not hovering) service, to really solid food. The meatball appetizer is delicious, and our pizza was really good. Fantastic crust, especially. We'll be back. (BTW, as you probably already know, it is pronounced Tim-o-nees.)

This place is owned by the same chef as Rosebud and Family Dog so he has quite the monopoly on that corner in the Highlands ... but before y'all think Ima a 'hater,' I think the chef is a genius because at the end of the day, J'adore his food. Timone's is suppose to feel like your neighborhood 'oh I forgot to grab some chip and dip so let me pop by Timone's tonight to grab that and oh yeah let's pick up some pizza or apps as well for our fancy dinner party we're throwing without feeling like we are upstuck Buckhead-ers.' If you live in the A or have been in the A, ya feel what that statement just said. I would say the service is pretty good, almost too good because our server came around and asked, 'how are you doing' so many times it was a little disruptive but hey 'critics are just gonna critique, critique, critique.'The pizzas are all amaze balls; I really dont think you can go wrong. The ONLY GRIEF I have is the size/portion of their tomato cucumber salad ... the menu price is $6.50 or something for it so you would think that it's a decent portion because it's tomato and cucumbers; how expensive can those ingredients really be ... well in reality, what you get is a tiny portion. I think my two friends who split a salad as their appetizer got a bigger portion of their salad SPLIT then our combined cucumber tomato salad. STILL, this place gets 4 stars from me. I'll be back; just wont be ordering the tomato cucumber. I'll pre-game with my own version at my house beforehand.

Loved the garlic knots and pepperoni pizza. Top tip - save the plate from the garlic knots for when your pizza comes out. There will be some leftover oil from the knots which makes for a delicious olive oil dip for your pizza crust. Went here on a Saturday night and there was no wait. It seems that Timone's is the least popular of Grateful Tables' establishments, but the food is definitely not the reason. Great service and a nice atmosphere makes this a place I'll definitely visit again.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
