Outdoors, sunshine, good beer. The makings of a beautiful Atlanta day. We were directed here by our local guide/sister in law for a respite from the indoors on one of the most beautiful days of the year so far, and were not disappointed. We walked a short distance to find a huge patio with plentiful tables, shady umbrellas, and a plethora of dogs. I am happy to discover the craft beer scene here in Atlanta is alive and well! They had a nice selection of both local and other domestic craft brews on draft. I enjoyed plentiful local GA brews while dog watching and getting my sun on. I liked that they had a "small appetizers" section on the menu in addition to their regular appetizers section, aka smaller portions of the food you just want to snack on. This was perfect for Don and I as we were just looking for a SMALL plate of cheesy, gooey, piled high nachos, and not an enormous plate. You know, beer and nachos in moderation? Yeah... Anyway, not disappointed in our small portion and I had my eye on a few other items that we did not end up trying. I may be swayed by my tan (sunburn) and the two tiny puppies that I made friends with on that patio, but Neighbors Pub was a win in my book. People were friendly, servers were prompt, and there was no rush. That's the southern way.

Decent food. Slow service - we were the only people there. Health score is 73 - yikes! Wish I had known that before eating... That being said, the location is great and has a nice patio for sitting outside and enjoying drinks.

I am surprised this place is rated so low. We had a chill Sunday at the bar with Amber, two bottles of spectacular $16 white wine, and possibly the most delicious salmon sliders with a creamy tatziki on pita points. The patio is huge and I loved the minimal decor and cool mural. It's to the right of Hand and hand off Ponce. Nothing fancy, great food, good service nice people. A fun place to gather with friends with no expectations

Fun atmosphere and great drinks! Unfortunately, I had to take off a star because the waitress lost my boyfriend's credit card under the server station. He had to cancel it because they didn't find it until much later. Very inconvenient!!

Great spot to come grab a pitcher on the patio with my dog (actual dog, not a human). Always good service and my girl Jessica always keeps the drinks coming! I'm also ready for them to bring out the heat lamps outside for winter... It sometimes gets TOO hot in the bars when it's cold out

Rude bartenders. They only care about your money. I was with my friends and we all ordered well over $50 worth of drinks. My friend wanted to order some tots and they messed up on her order. She let them know but didn't want a change or anything, just wanted to let them know. When we got the ticket for it, "RudeFloridaGirl" was written on the ticket. Smooth. Real smooth. There's a ton of bars in this town. Go somewhere where you're appreciated.

The servers here are some of the worst people I have ever encountered. Terrible, awful attitudes - every single one of them. You can tell they hire anybody that walks in looking for a job and that they don't train their staff properly. It's as if they don't know how to speak to the public. Everything said is with sass and it's really fucking irritating, to be honest. But it makes sense, because the managers are also incompetent and rude. It uh, took an hour and a half for them to make me a grilled cheese sandwich a few days ago because the waitress, who took 45 minutes to even acknowledge me, forgot to put the order in twice. The manager then acted horrified when I told her I wasn't going to pay for such terrible service. The food sucks and I've watched random hipster kids from the street just waltz into the kitchen with their skateboards on multiple occasions, I'm assuming to visit with their shitty cook friends. That's cool - I can only imagine what their gross fingers are touching while they socialize. The bartenders on the weekend are awful as well as if that is any surprise. Girl bartenders will overlook other women and serve all the men first - not sure what the logic is with that. And the male bartenders seem to only be pleasant to your typical hot chick. If you're average looking and a woman, you just get your drink aggressively slid to you with barely any eye contact or words spoken. Terrible, embarrassing establishment overall - go to literally any other bar in the Highlands. There's so many others that don't employ such an immature, unintelligent staff.

Came here after the Yelp Kingsmen event, this was one of the only late night still serving food. I really should have gotten the tots, I read the reviews before going in and even while I was there another guy ordered them & said "these are the best i've ever had" Well what I did get was the Chicken tenders with the shoe string fries. Man I love shoe string fries and i'm not sure why more places don't serve them. While we waited for our food we played darts and got a few rounds of drinks. This is a laid back place with a nice patio outside. I'll have to come back when it's warmer to take advantage. Food, service and atmosphere were A-Ok. A nice little spot to take in the day and relax.

I used to like this place because it was walking distance from my house and a good place to grab a late night meal or watch a football game, and they have a great porch. However, the service is atrocious. It's never been very good (server usually messes up the order somehow), but last time we went was just horrible - they forced a friend to pay for someone else's meal after they messed up the tab. I'm definitely avoiding this place in the future!

Best kept BREAKFAST secret in the ATL for a great breakfast at an affordable price without the wait! I had a breakfast bareto with hand-made salsa, bacon and fried potatoes! But all the breakfasts I've seen coming out around me look amazing.

Neighbors has a great porch for hanging out and drinking. The inside of the bar is pretty gross. But there is a shuffleboard and there are darts. The food is surprisingly decent for such a gross interior bar area.

This place is straight garbage. Ask yourself this: is it worth 2 hours to get a waitress to even acknowledge your existence? Spend your time doing literally anything else. Go to a park, harvest honey, get mugged, lose everything you hold near and dear to your heart. Just don't come to Neighbors in the Highlands. I hope this message finds you at a time when you are contemplating coming to Neighbors and it eases your decision to not come here.

  • Kevin T.

Stopped in here b/c 'Hand in Hand' next door was very crowded (and the weather way too cold for patio time at either). Quite the change here at Neighbors as our group of 4 were the only patrons. My friends had been here many times before, so it was not a visit to a 'new' place based on their experience here. Everyone ordered the hamburgers. Mine was fair. Nice presentation, but cooked quite well-done despite a request for medium. Same overdone results for other burgers. I skipped the side order of the renown tater-tots and instead, had the side salad which was fairly good - sized and delivered a nice mix of greens and toppings. I did try the tators. Yep, they're okay, but it's just Ore-Ida deep fried tots. Beers were good. Service was okay (we were still the only ones inside when we left). I'll be back for beer on the patio, but the food is nothing to spend your time or $ on. Better options for that elsewhere down the street.

After reading the reviews of this place I was excited to try the drinks and food. My party arrived and followed the instructions of the "seat yourselves" signs and chose a table on the patio right beside the door. While it was a Friday night and they were busy, we sat for over thirty minutes without a single word being spoken to us as server after server walked right by us. Several of them made eye contact and could clearly see that there were no drinks or plates on the table. No table around us had any food, and it seemed like everyone was getting up and going to the bar to order drinks. We tried waving down a server who blatantly ignored us, and even went to ask the bartender did we need to order and then go sit, and were told no someone would help us as soon as we sat down. As we approached the 40 minute mark of being thirsty and hungry we walked out and still never had a single word spoken to us. We went next door to Hand in Hand (where they were equally as busy) and got served right away. If you are looking for a place to hang out then this might be your best bet, but if you are actually hoping to get served drinks or food, try somewhere else.

Decided to come here after work (I work in the Highlands) and met a friend there for a bite to eat and drinks. It was pretty crowded and we waited at the side near the dart boards for a table to open up. Took a minute to get drinks from the bartender, but my friend also didn't know what she wanted, so the bartender handed her a menu and walked away. We stood there waiting to order after we perused the menu as my friend found exactly which beer she wanted immediately. We ordered drinks and then waited for a booth to open. Once a booth was opened, we moved to a table. We waited a few minutes for a server, as it looked like we had been served because we had drinks, but we also wanted to get some food. Finally a really nice server visited us and got us menus. I got the house chicken sandwich and it was AMAZING! Love the flavor combos! I got a house side salad with my chicken sandwich, but it wasn't very good at all. Rubbery, old onions, warm lettuce and a lot of sweet, dried cranberries made it not so great. The server was awesome when I told her this and brought me out the shoestring fries instead (and they were soooo good!) Table service was awesome, had a tall, blonde server and she was extremely professional and on point. Took one star away for the salad, the long wait time initially at the bar to get drinks and that I don't believe they serve beers in true pint glasses (they seem like the indestructible pint glasses but don't hold a lot for the price).

Huge patio that was full of people on a pretty spring saturday evening. Good food and options. Decent prices. We had a great/friendly (and may I add hot) server named John. We wanted to watch the basketball game so they put the sound on for us in the room that didn't have the bar in it. It was almost like our own private party area!

  • Kim S.

If you don't go for the food it's a decent place- nice patio when weather permits, fun bar atmosphere w darts and pool table inside, as well as some comfy couches to watch football in a semi-private part inside. Friendly service, average prices just be ready for typical bar food and don't expect much more than that. They do have a nice beer selection. I used to come here ages ago and it still has that same laid-back, easygoing atmosphere which is just right for a casual beer.

Really impressed with the food! Jazz was a fabulous waitress. Had a lot going on, but took care of us and checked on our table frequently. Judd the manager is really awesome and asked us how our meal was twice. Very pleased, will be back again!

This bar was pretty cool I went there with an older friend of mine so I wanted to go somewhere that was laid back. I went last Sunday and the Bartender was drunk and clearly not very experienced, my beer had about 3 inches of foam on the top which is irritating to me because it was supposed to be a pint and was served in a 12oz. Monday night brewery glass! So 5 bucks for a 9oz. Beer. It was generous though that the bartender offered to let me keep the glass. I did kinda like the fact she gave me and my buddy about 5 free shots of Jameson each so by the point I didn't mind the foam on my beer. The food was good! Try the philly cheese steak! Comparable to Woodys Cheese Steaks.

What an awesome Patio - so much so that we didn't even step inside. It was my first time here and great to find a neighborhood hot spot where we can sit outside. Food is average, but you will come to be outside with a beer in hand. If you want a chill and non-pretentious place - this will work.

  • Justin S.

My favorite place to go! They have any kind of atmosphere you could ever want. Can sit at the bar, have a nice meal at a table, or sit down with your significant other in front of their fireplace. A+++

  • Arpan M.

So-so. Nothing special. However, avoid the blonde bartender. When I inquired about the price of a drink, she responded, "If you're too broke to drink, don't." Terrible service. She should be reprimanded immediately. A place like this (so similar to the multitudes) needs to differentiate itself based upon its service. Avoid this joint at all costs. Maybe you'll have a better experience next door.

This place is great for patio seating. The beers are reasonably priced and will go back for just that! We had the "Nachos For Two" but it lacked ingredients. It was good but it needed more toppings on it. It seemed rather plain for us. My friend had the B.E.L.T with tater tots and she loved her dish! Will definitely go back and try something else!

    (4)
  • David M.

One of my favorite places to go when the weather is nice and we can sit outside. Chill atmosphere and decent food. At the same time, I don't see a point in going here when the weather forbids you from sitting on the patio. There IS a bar inside, but that's just like a shitty version of some of the other bars in the Highlands.

    (4)
  • Alex C.

It's really busy here... as it's a happening place. I don't know that the service is that great compared to some of the other reviews, but it's not bad either. There was an accidental double order and they gave the order to the table. That's usually a kind gesture given that most kitchens won't be giving it to another table. Price's are pretty cheap, which probably lends to its popularity. Parking can be hard, given it's location, but parking's never easy in the Highlands.

I'm an all day breakfast person. A friend of mine was excited to take me here on a friday night. We showed up and hung out for about 10mins before we got noticed and the place wasn't even crowded. I was excited to order breakfast. My pancakes came with eggs and bacon and a side of fruit. The meal looked GREAT! I was mortified when my Pancakes had traces of garlic and spices that would had been used to make dinner. as did the rest of my meal. My friend's "breakfast" tasted the same as mine. Disgusting! At this point i start to imagine what was really going on behind the scenes in the kitchen. We quickly paid our tab and left the food uneaten.

Popped in to catch some of the falcons game and a drink or two. We didn't realize it at the time but it is a bar that allows smoking so beware if you aren't a smoker.

Breakfast all day and night! But I haven't tried it yet. I got The B.E.L.T., which was delicious, as were the tater tots. The waiter was very attentive. I didn't expect to get such good food at 2am on a Saturday (I wasn't even tipsy when I ate it, so believe me, this is a sober person telling you the bar food was great!). I arrived around 1:30am on a Saturday night after DragonCon, and there were plenty of seats and it was a pretty quiet atmosphere - I don't know if it would normally be more or less populated had it been another Saturday, but I'll definitely be back.

Awful service. 2 hours to get a round of appetizers (that came out cold) and sliders. The only time we saw the waitress was when we went inside to find her. After repeatedly asking about the slowness we were finally told they were short in the kitchen. But on a trip to the restroom you could see plenty of staff in the kitchen with rows of food under heat lamps. No apologies given for slowness. No manager in sight. Not worth a repeat.

Nice Patio, some Lounge area inside. A few arcade/ bar games inside. The Loaded Tater tots distinguish themselves - Essentially, 'Loaded Baked Potato' except with tots. Plenty of toppings with the Crunch of tots. Lots of beers for enthusiasts - Yuengling and others by the pitcher.

I've been to Neighbor's many times through the years, mostly for a more casula atmosphere in the Highlands, and particularly when the other places are more crowded. I've enjoyed mediocre meals on the patio. So when it was St. Patrick's Day, and there was a pub crawl in the highlands, we met up with some of our friends who were participating to get lunch. Nothing much impressed me about Neighbors until the surprisingly good veggie burger. It was mostly black beans, and they coated it in chipotle sauce, which gave it just enough moisture to make it really tasty. I'm pretty sure that they buy it, and I'm sure that you can find a better veggie burger elsewhere, but considering the location and the mediocrity of the other food that I've had there, I was impressed. The tots were a little on the greasy side. The pancake and egg that we got for the little guy were also a little greasy. The server was attentive and kept up well with the crowd. And the patio was lovely as always.

This is definitely my main hub on the weekends. Bartenders arley and Zac always remember my drink and have it ready when I find a seat at the bar. I always receive great service, even on busy nights, and they introduce me to other regulars love this place. Casual and very inviting

Huge DECK! Bam!!! Hey, size matters right? Great place for chilling and sipping on some drinks while enjoying the day. Nothing fancy but great for kicking back. Service outside is decent, but there were a few instances where I was looking for a waitress. They have a pretty decent beer list..I'd like to see a little more in the way of local craft beers but overall pretty good. We went the other night and the fiancé had the tots for an appetizer...they were tasty but the portion was small! For $4 I was expecting more. Parking blows and you will have to walk from your parking spot on one of the surrounding streets but you need a little exercise to blow off those junkfood calories, right? I had a good time but I feel this place should be able to offer more than a huge DECK!

I've been here several times, at different times of the day. Good place to hang out and have a few drinks. Also, the food isn't half bad. I've had the B.E.L.T, and it was inexpensive and hit the spot. Great local place to check out for a more casual, fun atmosphere.

This review will be swift and simple. Neighbor's has one of the best patios in Atlanta. It is in the heart of the Highlands and is two blocks from where I sleep at night. Great beer selection on tap. Win. Uninterupted sun. Win. The patio has beautiful people from all walks of life sitting and enjoying the Atlanta sunshine. These 20 and 30-somethings are the people who will run the city one day. If you've been to the patio on Neighbors, you understand.

A good friend of mine has recently moved to the Highlands. I rarely stray from Midtown on weekends, so it's a good chance to take in some other neighborhoods. Neighbor's is but a short walk from my friend's place, so we went for brunch Sunday afternoon. It's a nice spot with a lovely large patio. Considering the pollen count approaching 8,000, we opted to eat inside. The staff were pretty nice, and they have some good drink specials. We went for the hurricane and bloody Mary pitchers. Drinks were nice, a good ratio of alcohol to mixer. The brunch menu didn't look terribly exciting to me, so I ordered the chicken fingers from their regular menu. Chicken fingers are usually a decent measure of a place. The food arrived to me very hot, it's nice to know that it hadn't been sitting for long. The chicken was very bland though....a little salt really goes a long way. There were no egregious sins surrounding brunch, so I will definitely give Neighbor's another try. At the least, it seems like a nice place to grab a drink, even if the food is ho-hum.

The BEST SERVICE I have had in years. Thank you Neighbor's Pub!! I heard about this place via Yelp's email about Tater Tots. (yes random!) Being from Miami, my husband and I love restaurants with outdoor patios. The Neighbor's Pub was very casual and had a large (dog friendly) patio! And yes, their cheesy tater tots were divine. FAST, friendly service by not only our server but the manager as well. Thank you for making our weekend a blast! You will be seeing us soon for Saturday morning brunch. Ciao!

I'm going to echo other yelpers' reviews and say: PATIO PATIO PATIO. A few friends and I came here the other night for dinner and drinks. The outdoor patio is expansive and bonus points for the private parking lot. Our waiter was nice, but not the brightest star in the sky. He got our drink orders quickly (fruity deliciousness all around), but didn't seem to understand that our group of 8 were all very hungry and here for dinner. After taking one appetizer order he walked off. When he came back we informed him that we did indeed want to order food. After the second burger order he stopped us to go get a pen and paper (I guess he didn't believe us the first time when we told him we were here for food). All of the food came out pretty much wrong (cheese, no cheese, sides, trimmings) and he definitely missed at least one entree order entirely. At the end of the meal, he brought us our check and informed us that he wasn't smart enough (his words, not mine) to split the check. Waiter experience aside, the evening's weather was great, the frozen drinks were well mixed (if on the VERY light side), there were beers, and we did eventually manage to get dinner so I guess I'd be back for patio seating with large groups for the casual drink. I think I'll skip the food next time, although the loaded tater tots are a total win (and great with beer!)

Unfortunately, this pub come with a sub-par management who don't care about their staff or customers....this was felt the moment you walk through the front doors. I used to come in quite a bit but got tired with being treated like a number and not like the name calls for, a neighbor. I've worked in the service industry for over 10 yrs and have not seen a bar/restaurant like this in a very long time. You would think that you should have more concern for people's needs being met and not your own comfort when dealing with tables. I felt a little weird knowing that they give so many drinks away too, seeing on numerous occasions employees & managers not ringing things up on mine and others bills...I wonder how the owner feels about that loss of profit?? there are too many bars in Atlanta ITP, or Virginia-Highlands for that matter, to "deal" with this hole in the wall spot- embittered staff, so-so food, and customers being over poured which results in drunks walking around. Did I mention it's a smoke chimney in here as they allow smoking all day long? Not fun for us who don't like being able to breathe. Save your time and money for a better experience with a "local pub" than here. Ask and I'll throw at least 5 examples your way than Neighbors.

My experience is with take out from Zifty. We ordered the loaded tots, neighbors house salad, and the black angus sliders. My review might have been more positive had the small sauce containers not busted all in the bag, leaving me without dressing for my salad, and no salsa for the tots. PLEASE kitchen staff, do everyone a favor and TAPE the lids close so this doesn't continue to happen. So disappointing. Especially when the salad is over $10 on Zifty. And the salad sucked. Big time. The lettuce came in a small container, appropriate for an appetizer, but not for a salad, maybe a side salad, but not a full salad. Second, it didn't come with the red pepper sauce at all, so basically all I got was a grilled chicken plain salad without anything for over $10. I had to add my own dressing from home. The loaded tots came with just lettuce on top and were way smaller than I expected, and the sour cream, salsa, and cheese came in separate small sauce containers. No shredded cheese, and only the tiniest hint of bacon on the tots. Had to add my own salsa from home as well. There was so much leftover sour cream, salsa and cheese that my husband and I decided to heat up some frozen fries to finish it off with. His black angus sliders were ok. Not special but he liked them. I've come to expect this from take out at a lot of restaurants in this area--for some reason the kitchen staff always forgets a major ingredient in a meal, and sometimes forgets a meal all together. Happened to us so often at Front Page News that we quit ordering from them, and instead only eat there when we can dine there. Will NEVER order or eat from here again. And if you are thinking about ordering take out from here, forget it. Order from Flying Biscuit or Marlay House where they don't forget ingredients in their take out.

Do you go there for the food? I dont, not that its bad. Its mostly the bar fare, maybe one step up. Their menu shrunk a while back so its closer to bar food than you remember. Its good execution but nothing there is ever going to call to me (and they took my girlfriend's go-to off of the menu). Being said I never think "lets go there for this dish," its always "lets go there for the patio." They have a huge patio (as does Hand in Hand but both of their menus are lacking) and its a great place to meet up when the weather is nice. They even had heaters lining the patio for those cooler days. So go there for the patio and enjoy the better than average beer menu and an average food menu.

This place is a another cool bar along the strip of bars in the highlands. It's a good place to get some relatively cheap lunch or an evening meal as you grab a beer. The beer is a bit pricey though, not acutely so, but just a bit pricey. Still, the burger sliders I had were pretty good, and so was the spicy chicken sliders. Me and a friend got them, and swapped one for one so we both tasted them. I had a 20oz draft blue moon with my drink that was nicely topped with a little orange slice, and that was pretty tasty too. Our waiter was actually rather nice, albeit a bid bland. She tried to make suggestions about the food as per the request of my friend, but she kinda didn't seem to know what to suggest. Still, she was courteous and came over several times to make sure we were doing well and see if we wanted anything. I've been here a couple times and I still like this place, the outdoor patio is great ambiance, and I even came when it was FREEZING cold out (they have heatlamps). The inside bar area is cool too, and has tables, booths, and a bar.

Went there last night with friends and had a blast. There was a DJ there that had the crowd on fire. My friends and I asked if they would play the Harlem Shake song. When they did we all did silly dances. It was so funny they asked us to do it again so they could film it lol don't know when or if they are posting it. Chicken nachos were great. They were stingy with the queso though. Great atmosphere and ok service. Our server was a little on the slow side but the patrons there were so much fun we didn't have a complaint. Defiantly come here for some fun. I hope they bring that DJ back. He was amazing as hell!

Love the patio here. The food, however...ugh. I suppose this review is more for my meal than for the place in general since I've only been once. So take it for what it's worth. I had this turky wrap thingy. The wrap part was more like a thick pita or a flat bread or something. It was dried out and hard as a rock in places. The sandwich was supposed to be served hot but it was luke warm at best. I'm thinking it sat under a heat lamp for a bit? Certainly didn't taste freshly made. Ugh. Bright side -- they have tater tots! I will give these guys another shot at some point in the future...down the road...maybe.

I have to admit if I had reviewed this place before getting my dog Vince, this would be a 3 star review. I have been going here for years, but each time I would think, why neighbors? Why do we always sit outside in the winter? Why do I always end up at the table with no heating? But now I am a fan. See, they are your standard bar- trivia (kinda hard but fun), decent beers, Va-hi crowds on weekends. But I have always had great service. Before Vince, I remember going there once and trying to figure out if the sangria had any extra sugar added to it. I don't remember the answer, but I DO remember the waitress going back and very attentively getting the answer back to me. Now that I have Vince, I have noticed how attentive they are with him. They always bring him water, they always give him attention. Last Thursday was the cherry on top- Not wanting to walk all the way to a coffee shop, I decided to take Vince and laptop for some mid afternoon productivity on the patio. I felt bad because I wasn't hungry so just ordered a coffee. The waitress did not flinch, brewed me a fresh pot (I was the only one there) and brought Vince some water. She then proceeded to come out all the time to make sure my coffee was refilled. On top of that, the manager came out to say hi to Vince, suggested I use the outdoor outlet so I could see my monitor better, and asked me if I wanted the heaters on for us. For a $2 tab, Vince and I felt the love.

Their trivia night is great! I come many Tuesdays. Hans is a great host and the prize is $90! A lot for trivia. Food: Not so good. Even their chicken fingers kind of suck. Their breakfast food sucks too, since they use some sort of fake looking eggs, although the breakfast pizza wheel is alright. Their wings are actually pretty decent, and sizable. The pot stickers and the salmon salad are pretty good too. Everything else is very meh. Service is great! Like I said, I'd come for the trivia and atmosphere but not the food.

Great lil dive bar type place in Virginia Highlands... The Service was pretty good they have plenty of outside seating my only complaint is that the crowd is a little older....

Right next to Hand in Hand, Neighbor's Pub is another typical Virginia Highlands bar with a more casual atmosphere. They have a very large selection of beers on tap as well as a spacious outdoor patio, optimal for large groups during warm nights.

Solid bar food. Amazing chicken nachos.... Ok, really though, the chicken nachos are where it is at. The drinks are good and cheap relatively for the area. The fries were good as well. Come here for that late night snack, you will not be sad you did.

The pub was spacious and for once I did not have to struggle past a sea of people to buy a drink. The bar tender was awful. He was arrogant and racist. I would never go back to this pub. Please spare yourself the time and effort and stay away from this pub.

My late night dining partner and I ordered what seemed to be a simple drink request: sparkling water. Little did we know what hilarity would ensue as a result. Several minutes later our server returned with two largish bottles of Acqua Panna; no glasses, no bottle opener and definitely no lime or lemon wedges. My eyes met DJ's as we considered how to open our water. She made a prescient comment then: "This water's probably flat" conceding that sparkling water is probably not a common order at Neighbor's. Once we were able to flag down our server we asked for a bottle opener and some glasses and limes. Server: "They aren't twist off?" Us: "No..." Pouring the water into our glasses it became immediately apparent that our water was sin gas, or not sparkling. You might have guessed that already because Acqua Panna is still, spring water. With an order put in for loaded pub tots, chicken tenders and hummus, we laughed and enjoyed our water under the moonlight. When the food arrived we tucked in, oblivious to the folks around us. Well, all except for one. He was inebriated and kept commenting on our french fries. When we were done eating the server came around and asked if she could clear. I suggested she give our leftovers to the drunk guy at the nearby table. When our gift hit the table he was super pleased and started shovelingour cast-offs into his mouth immediately. We smiled; far too much food goes to waste in the world. To repay our kindness, he had the server bring us another bottle of water. Now when was the last time a gentleman had a bottle full of Acqua Panna sent to your table? In sum, Neighbor's is a great spot to spend a warm night, munching on decent pub grub late at night. Jager shots and pitchers are de rigeur but for a laugh, ask for sparkling water.

Love this place - definitely a go-to for me when I want a good bar meal at a reasonable price. I always sit on the patio with my pup, and the waitstaff are all SUPER nice to me and him - they bring him a bowl of water and always tell me how cute he is (hey, a compliment is always nice!). Beer choices are great and the staff are happy to offer suggestions, plus they know their stuff! Food is consistently good - it's not gonna make you see the Lord, but it's definitely on point. Hot wings are especially tasty, and the loaded tots are genius. As a plus, their patio heaters are pretty effective, so you aren't freezing to the bone during the colder months. Neighbor's is a good choice.

On a Sunday afternoon, my friend and I decided to check out Neighbor's for drinks and chitchat. The patio was way more appealing than sitting on the inside which looked a bit grimy (mind you I'm a anti-bacterial lotion, Wet Ones carrying OCD having chick), but I think that's part of the charm of this Highlands area staple. We went for a pitcher of Hurricane and it where my friend didn't think much of it, I thought it carried a little punch. That didn't stop him from downing a couple of glasses :0). We also order come Queso & Chips and I was in a cheesy carb laden heaven...yum! Overall a solid experience, eclectic crowd and clearly non-pretentious since it was a guy at the table next to us spitting on the patio every 5minutes.

One of my favorite dive bars in Atlanta. I used to frequent this place every weekend with my friends from Emory. Neighbor's has a huge outdoor patio, and the vibe is very casual and laid back. It's not glitzy or glamorous by any standard, but it attracts a fun and youthful crowd, primarily Caucasian and in their 20s but I've seen some cougars and older men in their 30s. I'm always amused by people watching here. It usually gets packed by 11 pm on Friday and Saturday nights, and parking is always ridiculously hard to find after 10 pm. The food is decent, not the best, but I do enjoy the burgers, which are large, juicy, and cooked to order. The loaded nachos are also delicious and extremely unhealthy.

So it's really all about the patio. I actually think I went inside for the first time and was none too impressed with the interior, but nothing compares to basking outside in an Atlanta springtime temperature on a Friday afternoon. . . and apparently we weren't the only ones with this idea. Envious of frolicking weekday lunchtimers lounging on patios across the city, I was glad to finally be one. Luckily, the patio is about three times larger than the interior to accommodate us all. . . and even if plastic patio chairs don't make for an attractive space, you won't mind so much once you're comfortably seated in one. There's a decent variety of beer on draft and bar food galore - and the free wi-fi is quite neighborly of them to boot.

Unlike everyone else, I actually did come here for the food. That, and an escape from douchenight at Hand in Hand, which is increasingly becoming my least favorite place in the 'hood. The atmosphere was great. It was a bit chilly outside, so we eschewed the patio in favor of the cozy couches and huge TVs inside. The place was deserted, but our server was cheerful and didn't seem to mind. The loaded tots (which are referred to as totchos elsewhere) were awesome, though I wish I hadn't eaten quite so many of them. And Jay H.'s chicken fingers looked decent enough. I had the chicken sandwich, which was underwhelming. The menu advertised a spicy bleu cheese sauce, which attracted me to the dish. But it wasn't spicy at all! I added a couple or ten shakes of Cholula, which did the trick. The sandwich was rather small, and had absolutely no frills, and by frills I mean tomato, lettuce, onion, etc. I chose the sweet potato fries as my side, which were seasoned with cinnamon sugar. They were crispy and good, but they were even better when dragged through the Cholula drippings. One of the beer coolers had broken, limiting their draft selection somewhat, but, for a neighborhood bar, the variety of beers they offer is actually surprising. Best of all, the server brought over a taste of one of the higher-end beers with J's drink to make up for not having any Terrapin on hand. And my whiskey ginger was not too lightly poured, either. The absolute best part about my experience at Neighbor's was the service. We were well attended to, but not in an overbearing or annoying way. I'll definitely be back for drinks and small bites, and maybe if I come for real food, I'll try something other than that tiny flavorless sandwich.

Every time I've been here has been enjoyable. I almost always sit on the patio, since its very large, unless its the dead of winter. I have to say I've never encountered any bad staff when i've been here. I've only come to eat once for desserts, and other times just for casual drinks. There's nothing particularly spectacular about it, just very laid back which is a big plus. It can get pretty crowded at times in the summer. My most memorable experience here was with a girlfriend of mine. We came after dinner for beer and happened to order desserts. She's actually a pretty fussy girl, and talked to the server for a while about the beer selection, since she only recently switched from cocktails to beer. He was actually nice enough to bring 3 different types for her to try (yes, she is very attractive and has huge boobs! if that explains anything). Also it wasn't crazy crowded that night, so I can see how he had the extra time, but it was very thoughtful. We had some cheesecake to top off the night. My girlfriend pointed out that the menu said "fresh fruits" and we got bar fruits (maraschino cherries, orange slices), but it was just funny (no complaints here). They do have a parking lot, but its usually full, and there is street parking. I've never had food here, but I'll update if I do. Also their bathrooms are not bad.

Some of the best tots I've ever had. I don't know what makes one tot better than any other, but the tots here are really, really good. Fresh, crisp, and not too salty. There may even be some pepper in there. Whatever they're doing, they're doing it right. And I've never been disappointed here. Service is always quick and attentive. Food is really good. Everything is cooked to order. (Note: If you're coming here for a fantastic gastronomical experience, you're coming for the wrong reasons. Kinda like you shouldn't expect caviar at the Varsity, don't expect foie-gras at a pub.) There's an excellent selection of beers on the wall (and in bottles), as well as a full-bar. Plus, it's comfortable. A true neighborhood establishment. Join me there.

I was introduced to Neighbors probably 8 years ago, and I still go there. That's primary a testament towards their consistently slightly-better-than-above-average bar/pub getup. 8 years ago, Neighbors was the place to get cheap pitchers with other college kids after classes or on the weekends. Now, it's a place to get cheap pitchers after work or on the weekends. The crowd seems similar to the rest of the Highlands, with perhaps a relatively greater concentration of Caucasians. Aside from the cheap pitchers, there are a couple of notable traits of Neighbors. PATIO First and foremost, PATIO PATIO PATIO. I only make an effort to go here when the weather is accommodating to being seated outside. If it's nice outside, expect the patio to be full by 10:30/11pm ish, but dwindling around 12:30/1ish. BRUNCH Secondly, the food is above average for a such a pub. The spinach pizza is great, along with the nachos and burgers. Most surprising, however, is that I've had brunch here on a couple of occasions, and I was satisfied with my meal, although the service was a bit spotty that Sunday afternoon. I don't come here expecting great service. Most of the time, the servers seem overwhelmed and don't seem to give proper attention to the table. It is what it is.

Never again. First I went to wash my hands before eating cheese dip. Next to the two empty soap containers in the bathroom was a sign saying "Employees must wash hands." When I returned to the table, my friends had sent the cheese dip back due to stale chips. When we got new chips, they were also stale. The special today was a $10 turkey ruben. It was cold. the turkey was all processed and disgusting. I love bar food. And luckily there are plenty of places to get good bar food in this town: Corner Tavern in L5P or on Edgewood. Manuel's. Moe's and Joe's. Six Feet Under also has very high quality food at the same price range for what we paid today at Neighbor's. If you want good bar food, I would advise you to go somewhere else.

Granted, this review is based on a limited experience; walked up from Java Vino and sat on the patio mainly because it was the only place with a bit of sunshine available on a chilly afternoon. I enjoyed a VERY well made whiskey sour while the hubby had an Irish coffee he said was 'ok.' We both enjoyed the cheesy yummy goodness of the Loaded Tater Tots (sans bacon), although I think "loaded" means a lot more stuff like chili in many other pubs, but since I'm not a meat eater I liked their minimalist approach. Service was pleasant and the busboy gladly gave my pup a leftover egg from another table. He even went and got a dog bowl as opposed to plopping it on the ground. I've passed this place a million times but never stopped in. Will do so again but most likely only to hang on the patio, the inside appeared a little drab. Beer lovers will enjoy the large selection.

The patio saves this from being a one-star spot. Food is average, beer list is meh, crowd is lame. On weekend nights, I give this place negative seven stars.

This is the other best patio in Atlanta (hand in hand with Hand in Hand). If you hate going outside during nice weather, good food, good beer, a great atmosphere, and friends, then this is not the place for you. But assuming you have better social qualities, then yes, come here! Though still "bar food," it's really good bar food. I'm a sucker for the sliders and tater tots. In fact, thanks to living in Atlanta, I'm realizing one of the great beer snacks is tater tots! No complaints here. This place rocks.

A bunch of us tried to get into Oysterfest, but got rebuffed due to the overwhelming crowd. So we decided to have our own fest: PatioFest '09 at Neighbor's Pub! Initially there was a little confusion as some of us wound up at Fontaine's. It's ok though, it's a laid back sunny afternoon. When we got there the patio was packed, we managed to get seats right under the heaters, which was our saving grace since the temperature was dropping steadily. Thusly the patio slowly emptied, except for our hearty crew. Luckily we had a rock star server who was very accommodating to our boisterous group. Next time I go back I will definitely check to be in her section. I've never been to Neighbor's and had their food, I was fairly impressed. The steamed Pot Sticker's and Chicken Nacho's (thanks Lauren S. for letting me try) were very good. All in all, a great was to spend an afternoon in Atlanta.

So, here's the thing... 3.5 stars. Not dazzled but not disappointing either.... It's late in the afternoon on Memorial day, I've been lounging in the house, relaxing after a fairly full weekend, wedding, brews with the boys, a movie, when I receive a text from Gretchen O., telling me about an impromptu get together at Neighbor's, so, I decide to fluff the hair a bit, throw on some moisturizer and sandals and head out to the pub. Super easy to find, surprisingly fantastic parking, fuss free patio area with ample space a large umbrellas, the perfect start to a laid back afternoon with new and old friends. Being that I had quite a bit to drink the weekend before, ample amounts of cheap champagne and a few pitchers of beer, I decided to stick with water and keep myself hydrated, my PIC were all drinking various brews and spirits, most of which after a quick taste were quite good. I perused the menu, a simple veggie burger was just what the doctor ordered, when the burger arrived it was a stack of wonderful, toasty bun, ample pickles, red onion, lettuce, tomato, cheddar, juicy veggie patty. Add my own condiments on the side, mayo, a wee bit of katsup, tons of pepper, pinch of salt, cut in half, devour. Check and checkmate. Twas yummy. I noticed there were small bits of mushrooms floating around in my veg burger, and while usually I would have a problem with mushrooms, they were so minuscule I had no complaints. The fries were standard, nothing to write home about. Later I was in the mood for something sweet, ordered the fruit bowl, strawberries, honeydew, pineapple. I'm not a fan of honeydew, I feel like its a filler fruit, but a friend grabbed it so I didn't have to fuss with it too much, and I chowed down on the pineapple. Good to go. We had a large group, and our waiter was around when he needed to be, kept me in all the h20 I could handle, and was super friendly, great service. Bathrooms were clean, and there's even a photobooth. I enjoyed Neighbor's for the people watching and the great conversation, will do it again, and will be drinking, but hopefully not after a whirlwind weekend.

Neighbor's bub is a great place to grab a cheap lunch or evening meal. Their selection is very standard, nothing too creative, which is disappointing. Their lack of uniqueness is compensated by the flavor of the food. The burger sliders were quite tasty, but the spicy chicken sliders were dry. The wait staff was pleasant, but failed to provide any good recommendations for remarkable menu items. Our waitress wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but she was very nice. Most of the seating is outdoors with an indoor bar. Parking is very very difficult to find. Good luck!

I think this place is great. I love that you can barhop to other nearby bars without having to drive your car while drinking. They have a ton of outside seating and fans to keep you cool in the summer. Drinks are good and the waiters are friendly. I have only had the fries, but they were pretty good considering I was drinking pretty heavily and I didn't really care what they tasted like, just that they were hot and fried. Yummy!

I enjoy the bartenders. I enjoy the enthusiasm they share with me when I play Keno. I enjoy getting pancakes late night. I enjoy the music volume on weeknights (makes conversating possible). The prices aren't great, but the patio is the best in the Highlands.

Various Yelpers, for some reason, enjoy spending time and money here. Neighbor's isn't really to my taste--for one thing it's located in the parking nightmare that is Virginia-Highlands. Granted, Neighbor's does have a private lot attached to it, but given the distinct lack of carpooling/walking/transit that we Atlantans partake of, the lot is usually full, and I have to drive several blocks to find a viable space. The service is commonly fair-to-good, albeit a bit surly if our group (generally 8-15 people, sometimes more) founders the small tables located on the patio/deck; once our group gets large, I notice the service tends to move towards the infrequent, but that's understandable with such an unwieldy group. They are usually very responsive with splitting the check amongst our number, so that's a plus. Of the limited food items that I've ordered, I can neither praise nor condemn any items. I have, however, seen Florida Gator Quarterback Tim Tebow walking out of the venue. A server indicated that his sister lives closeby, and the owners, as Gator fans, welcome both the Heisman Trophy-winning QB and his family as friends. For that (potentially apocryphal story) alone, they get an extra star.

Jesus. The crappiness of the food quality warranted a Facebook status update here. Brunch - mimosa is good, but the portion size sucked. Obviously, better a drinking a place than an eating place. I will say that the general manager is very friendly...gave me a free meal once because service was so slow. But the fact that service is a problem, that my potato portion is smaller than my fist is really lame. If the weather wasn't so nice and warranted an outdoor brunch, I'd be somewhere else. And happy birthday to Eric.

Enjoyed the patio while in the rain. Nooooo, it wasn't raining when we started but it didn't seem to ruin our time. The service started out horrible but when the servers changed David was great!! The drinks were ok, a little too much juice for me. The chicken slider was yummy.

I'd say this is the "Douchiest" Bar in The Highlands. The chance of angering a preppy alpha male in a button up shirt by looking at something in the same area of space as his buckheady girlfriend is higher than I would like. Its alright, though they should put a bartender in the non-smoking area when its busy and that section fills up... Had a good time there for my friend's birthday, but nothing really interesting going on with this place. You can buy beer from them, and then pour it into your mouth, so, overall an even win.

Picture this: 3 pseudo geeks crowded around a small table out on the patio with Macbooks open surfing the net. That was me, and two of my homies last Friday. Who would have known that Neighbor's has free WiFi! Very nice touch. The manager with chest pumped up stood in the corner watching as his patio slowly filled with patrons and smiled when he noticed that we were using his WiFi connection. This is one of the better spots for patio chillin. It's large, somewhat quiet and the sun hits your face just right. You won't be squinting to look at your table mates but, you won't get the chills either from the Atlanta shade. The food here is typical bar food. I had a burger and coke. (Unusual for me.) It was pretty good. All three of us actually ordered the same thing and when we were done eating, there wasn't much left on the plate. The thing that I like most about the menu is that you can substitute TATOR TOTS for fries! That's what I'm talking about! Who doesn't love a golden brown tot?

Neighbors is ok. Yeah, just ok. It's got a great patio and the prices aren't too high - but the servers I've had here are always kind of jerks and though I usually stay with my group, I can tell by the ladies crowding in to the restroom that there aren't many people here I'd like to meet. It reminds me a lot of a college town bar. I will go back to sit outside and enjoy the yummy chicken nachos.

How do I give "0" stars here? Neighbor's sucks. The food has gone WAY downhill over the years and the service and managers that I have experienced were AWFUL!!!!! There was an incident where some drunk dude came barging into the girls bathroom while my girlfriend was in there. She came back and told me so I told the manager about it. Figuring he would want t know. Turns out he was friends with the guy and didn't make him leave or do anything about it. Instead he told me that they would leave eventually and I needed to calm down. Well, I didn't and he threw our whole table out. Absolutely awful!! Even our server was embarrassed about how it was handled. Neighbor's blows.

This is again just an average no frills bar. They have trivia on Tuesday nights which is actually a lot of fun and in warm weather, their outside patio is quite enjoyable. However, their food leaves a lot to be desired. Things on the menu sound a lot better than they actually are. I've had their breakfast items, fish sandwich, nachos and chocolate cake and nothing is ever as good as it sounds

The waiter who tries extremely hard to act hip/funny while sacrificing getting drink orders correct looks just like Rob Schneider--not like Jonny Depp. "I'm f'ing Johnny Depp!" No you're not...not in any way. No question a duplicate Rob Schneider.

I went there this past Monday for the first time and really enjoyed it. They have a nice sized patio with lots of seating. The staff was a little slow but I enjoyed the location, we had a group of 12 and had no problems with having tables moved around. The game on the tv was not really to my taste but hey... it was not loud or anything so we all had a great time drinking and catching up. I would go back.

Drank it up here last Friday with a large group of friends out on the patio. The pitchers kept coming and the service was pretty good considering the size of our crowd. Had the Angus burger which was decent and the tots which were definitely up to snuff. For being in VA-HI they have relatively reasonable prices for their pitchers (ranging from $14-16). It suffers from the same dilemma as any other bar in the area with regards to its burgeoning crowds on Fridays and Saturdays. Consider yourself lucky if you find a spot in the lot.

Ahhhh so the Oyster Fest in East Andrews/ Buckhead was sold out before it began. *sigh* but then again i'm sure we saved some money taking this route. No Oyster Fest for us, what to do? Well we decided we'd hit up El Azteca for some late lunch and margaritas and then join the rest of the guys and gals at Neighbors. The weather was beautiful and warm, the drinks had already begun flowing, and the company was awesome. Patio seating at Neighbors it was. This bar is great for when the weathers warm because the patio is pretty large and the atmosphere is always vibrant outside. Corey was our waiter and he was great!! There were about 15 or so of us and he was on the ball. I mean there was always a pitcher before we needed to ask for another and he was always right there when you needed something else, not to mention we didn't have to ask for anything because he made sure he asked before we had to. We didn't order anything to eat, but I have had the wings there before and no complaints here. I can't say i've never enjoyed myself at Neighbors. It's one of those bars, or I should say patios, that's great for a group gathering when the weathers warm and you just want to catch a game or just chill and chat it up with your friends.

I wish I knew about this back when I had an experience back in May 2007. I first thought I was on candid camera. My gf and I ordered a simple turkey wrap and burger. Others were seated, ordered, and served while we were still there. So my friend goes in and they supposedly dropped her wrap and were making another. In the meantime they brought us out chips and salsa as if they were doing us a favor. We go back in and talk to the manager as our food still had not arrived. A good manager would have comped the meal - but no - he just made up some excuse. This had been 45 minutes...we walked out and have never been back since.

while in macon for 6 months, we miss the outdoor patios that are everywhere in scottsdale, az. neighbors was a welcome chance to be outside on a beautiful afternoon, and we sat immediately (albeit it was on tuesday, about 2pm, so go figure) to some cold brews. food was standard pub grub, good enough, but the patio....ah the patio....awesome.

Grab a beer and a seat on the awesomely huge patio for some good times and even better people watching. The typically young crowd usually consists of regulars and those that are soon to be converted. A trip to the Highlands just isn't complete without someone suggesting, "hey, wanna go to Neighbor's?"

The menu has decent bar food - wings, nachos, burgers, chicken fingers, etc but the real draw is the patio when the weather is nice. One of the few places left in ATL where a large group can hangout on a patio outside. Not sure why they have stopped carrying Sweetwater beer but that is limiting my enjoyment of the patio.

Neighbors is great, huge patio, inside is not that big. If your looking for a casual place to go at night, or lunch great place. Don't expect out of decor, its a pub and the highlands. Its simple and chill atmosphere The food is better than most bar food, they even have nice dessert. Pretty prompt service. I never have a problem when I go except if I'm wanting to sit outside and its the weekend. Friendly people and service. Lastly the nachos are amazing. that's it

Neighbor's is a sprawling Virginia Highlands pub/restaurant. It's a great place to spend an evening in the summer. You can sit on the deck and watch the well-groomed preppy couples walk in and out. There's the usual selection of beer, plus some decent food. Try the jerk chicken or the peel and eat shrimp. On the weekends, the pub is more like a club. At night you'll find yourself pushing through large crowds and waiting in slow-moving lines for a beer.

Seems like a good place to hang when I start grad school at Emory in Auguts. The patio is awesome and the service was good. I will definitely chill there in between exams...

We ate brunch on the patio on a Sunday morning...I can't give Neighbor's the credit for the gorgeous sunny day, but just the fact that they provide such a great patio setting earns them at least one extra star. In addition to the coffee, I had the granola, which was served parfait-style with thick cream and fresh strawberries and bananas. Spring has definitely arrived.

Location, location, location....and throw in a ton of seats on the patio outside. That's really all you need to be a thriving bar in Atlanta I guess. Neighbor's works because it can seat a lot of people and it's in one of the best spots in the Highlands. It's definitely not the food, the beer, or the service. And yet...I end up at Neighbor's almost every time I'm in the Highlands. It's hard not to when they have so much outdoor seating and it's pretty easy to get a spot.

In the resataurant world, location is everything and Neighbors has a primo spot in the Highlands with an awesome outdoor deck. The food leaves a lot to be desired, but they can get away with it because of the, well, the location. The Emory heavy clientele on some nights can make this 37 year old seem a little out of place, but I enjoy going here nonetheless. This place is much more down to Earth and user friendly than the stuffy Hand In Hand next door.

It was 10:50 pm and I wanted to get a drink and some chips in salsa while I waited for a friend to get off work in the area. Since I was heading down Highland Ave from the ponce side I decided stopping by Neighbors would be easy. I bellied up to the bar and ordered a drink and asked for a menu. I saw you had chips, salsa and cheese dip and decided that was close enough. A few minutes later my food arrived and Meg told me that kitchen had actually just closed and she was 'lucky' to get the order. A few minutes later after eating the very meager portion of salsa to go with the less than fresh chips I asked if I could get some more salsa. Meg went back to the kitchen, came back and said no, sorry. After I finished my drink i told Meg I would have gone somewhere else if I had know your kitchen was closed / about to close. She got angry and very defensive about it. Her attitude was rude and unapologetic. She told me 'You can't tell us when to close our kitchen.' It was a very negative experience and next time I want food late, I'll go somewhere that wants my business.

This place is one of the best places in the Highlands. They have a great outdoor patio and even serve food till past 2am. However this is not a bar to go to if you want to meet people beyond the friends you come with. Otherwise it is a great place to sit back and drink.
