I passed the sign for this restaurant several times a week but never understood what Hottie Hawg was until we were looking up BBQ places nearby. We decided to try them for lunch on the day before Thanksgiving. I am happy we did. The food was great but the service was even better! We had pulled pork, wings, and smoked chicken with fries, okra, mac and cheese, and baked beans. Our waitress was Pamela and she was not only friendly but a great server. She took the time to explain their DSB (Don't Stop Believing) thing and the events they host each nice. We will return.

This is one of those places that you know is just gonna have good barbecue as soon as you step in the door. Lots of Texas -- where they know how to make good BBQ --memorabilia all over the place. Upon getting your order, you know it's even better than you thought. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and collard greens. I had enough food for me and 2 other people. Did I leave anything on the plate? Heck, no. If the waitress hadn't taken the plate away, I might have eaten the plate! Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. Cannot wait to come back to try other plates of goodness.

Smoked wings = YUM. Great atmosphere and live music. So glad this place is close to my house and that I can make it go-to spot. Nice bourbon selection, too. Definitely worth checking out.

Standard BBQ joint feel. Great country playlist. The food is wonderful however both times I've been here the service has been a little questionable to say the least. If you come to this little southern BBQ oasis a must try is the smoked wings! This place has a cool vibe and a lot of potential. Hottie Hogs has a lot of unique menu items and is certainly worth a visit! An average lunch takes about 1 hour from start to finish so lay back and enjoy the atmosphere.

First time here. Service is good. Parking in back of place which is free. Live blues band on Friday nights. lot of locals here which means it a good out of the way hangout. I had the pulled pork which was not as good as I expected. Only because I have had better. This had no flavor which means I had to add sauce. I just happen to Luke mines dry. But it was tender and comes with onion rings on top. That was different. Nice drinks. I ordered the long island ...it was good. Would I come back ....yes.

Bottom line of you're a cowboy fan this is your bar. The drinks are great...the wings are fantastic....yes I'm very bias being a Cowboy fan. The owner is very energetic and the food is great

Was in Atlanta for a couple days. Stopped here twice. Day one was delicious and day 2 was just ok. Don't know if the cooks vary that much or what but the first time was definitely way better. If you hit it on a good day it's top notch! The fried pickles/jalapeños are really good.

Brisket is awesome! Fried pickles are delicious! Meat is smoked. I don't care for the fried okra since it's whole, I prefer my okra cut up. Come on a Friday for live music.

OMGness....The food was sooo good! The ribs melted in my mouth as they fell off the bone! I like that they had a variety of sauces to put on the ribs as well. The fried okra was to die for! It was battered and seasoned just right coupled with this tiger sauce that had horseradish in it. I don't eat a lot, so I didn't order much, besides the beer to wash it down. You can't go wrong at this place. Everyone from the chef (we talked about the fried okra) , waitress, bartender, and manager (I showed her my yelp coupon) were extremely pleasant!!!!

This place is great and most importantly because it's a Cowboys fan hub! :-). However I came for a friend's going away gathering and the team here really made us comfortable. In addition there was a teen band performing who were really good! They offer live music regularly so stay connected to them via social media to stay updated. I started off with the Hawg-a-Rita! Yummy! It's potent but good! It's served in a mason jar so you know it's good! I then tried some of their various wing options but since I'm not a fan of hot wings, I ended up falling in love with the lemon pepper wings. They are the best lemon pepper wings I've had! Highly recommend if you're not a hot wings fan. When I come to BBQ places one thing I like to try are the side dishes for some reason so I tried the baked beans, collard greens and Mac and cheese. I liked them all but would say the greens were my least favorite as they could use a little more seasoning. If you don't want side dishes but are in the mood for appetizers be sure to try their chips and salsa (it has a roasted taste to it) and you have to try the Hawg Balls! ;-) Can't wait to go back especially if I can make it for a Cowboys game!

Where do I start? I'm a screenwriter and musician. I live a block away and this is by far the best local restaurant, bar, and live music venue. I go on Thursdays to write , when the best bartender in the ATL Tiffany is walking the line. She'll serve up a 24oz Genesee beer for $1 when the Braves play, and with a real perty dimpled smile too. She makes a pretty damn smoooth Old Fashioned. Tiffany turned me on to the most amazing black bean burger this side of the Mississip. For Starters: The DSB fries are sooo good. They add a seasoning I've never tasted before to the fries, and its DAMN good. They put the same seasoning on the DSB chips and fire roasted salsa. The salsa tastes home made. NOM NOM NOM. A better plate of Man N Cheese I haven't experienced yet. The Texas Redds are good enough to make a German spit on his Bratwurste. The Live Music: I was walking up the wooden plank thinking about my fav bartender serving me my fav tasty beverage, "and there she was, like disco lemonade." Brooke Taylor's voice is quite unique. It's very smooth, but growls when pushed. She uses her voice masterfully to add a soul and a bluesy depth to pop songs. She's just simply BRILLIANT. The patio is huge, and just the most perfect place to sit, drink, and enjoy Brooke's amazing voice. The People: It's a very diverse and inclusive culture that exists there. I've met musicians, videographers, writers, SCAD students, hedge fund managers, Braves fans, Cowboy fans, San Diego Chargers fans, and of course plenty of AWESOME locals.

After kicking ass at band rehearsal and rocking the rehearsal space like the badasses we are, my bass player and I knew that we had to celebrate by feeding our ourselves with some good ass food. We headed over to Hottie Hawgs to celebrate much ass kicking and this was my 2nd time there and boy did they do me right again. First off we started off with an order of Bottle Caps which is a mixed basket of fried pickles and fried jalapeno pepper slices. This alone should be considered legendary. What a great concept and a perfect, unexpected mix. One basket is perfect for two people (get two baskets for 3 or 4 people). For my meal I chose to take a break from dining on the meat of animals and chose to feed my inner vegetarian with a Black Bean Burger. What I love about it is that the patty is made in house so it's a little different each time you go back. This time around was just as awesome as the last time. Perfectly cooked and seasoned really nicely. The only "miss" was the Mac & Cheese. It was a bit on the bland side and totally forgettable. I would probably have to skip this next time and go with either the beans or try the potato salad. The service both times I've been was fantastic and the Ms. Hottie McHotness waitress today (and the last time) is just an absolute doll and she kept our waters full and our beers coming and was just really pleasant and sweet. I haven't had the BBQ here yet so I can't really rate them on that but what I can say is that I've been here twice and had a really great experience both times. I had hot, great quality food in a place where I felt welcomed. What more can a bad ass musician who just had a kick ass band rehearsal ask for? Next time... I'LL EAT MEAT!

No frills about this place, and that's why it's AWESOME. Beer on tap served in solo cups? Heck yes. Impressive beer selection for a smaller BBQ joint. My husband and I both ordered 1 meat-2 side combos (smoked chicken, green beans and slaw for me, pulled pork, mac and cheese and collards for him). For $10 each, you definitely get a good amount of food. We live in the neighborhood and will definitely be back, especially to enjoy the outdoor patio once the weather gets warmer!

This used to be one of my top 3 BBQ joints in Atlanta - an obviously chef-led kitchen, a thoughtful beer draft and cocktail list, marred only by the owner's penchant for hiring help based more on their willingness to be scantily clad than their knowledge of the menu. I showed up at 6:30 pm on a Sunday - they were supposed to close at 8 pm, but I was immediately informed the kitchen was closed. The waitress at the bar talked to the manager and was able to still get my order in under the wire. I ordered their Baby Back Rib special with sides of potato salad and mac & cheese, and a half-price "Hawgarita". Some guy behind me, Joe, who seemed to be related to the restaurant, was extremely drunk and shouting expletives at the TV and at people who walked in and left after being told the kitchen was closed. As I waited, I remembered watching the restaurant on Lifetime TV's "Catering Wars" where they acted very rambunctious and fired their chef. The potato salad was decent but watery. The Mac & Cheese was completely unremarkable, which clashed with my memory of the previous 5 times I had been there. The baby back ribs were still, indeed, delicious, with a nice rub, good sauce, and very tender. The "Hawgarita" was a decent margarita, but the mass of thin ice on top made sipping from the top to get that salt/margarita flavor very diluted and watery. Serve it in a smaller bottle and strain the ice and we might be in business. The service here has always been a problem. I once brought my family after seeing an "Animal House" Burger promoted as a special on Facebook. This burger was a half-beef, half-kangaroo patty with bacon, fried green tomatoes, bacon, a fried egg, and crawfish étoufée. I can recite this from memory because it was delicious, and the kitchen here used to have that level of imagination and execution. I still regret never tasting the watermelon jalapeño ribs former chef Matthew Moseley once imagined and served. The sad thing about this visit is that the server, usually the weak point here, seemed to be the only one that cared about the service, the food, the cursing drunk, you name it. The draft list, once thoughtfully composed, has shifted to a mailing-it-in mix of five Sweetwater taps and an American macro-brew. The maple habanero BBQ sauce that was once their best sauce was nowhere to be seen. One star for the server who seemed to care in spite of an owner and management. One star for good ribs. I would have once given 4 stars for better sauces, sides, draft beers, and a chef-focused kitchen, though with mediocre service and not family/wife friendly. Now, subtract the chef element, draft beers, and declining imagination on the sides and specials, and I'm disappointed. I may return to pick up an order of their broader selection of smoked wings, but I'm skeptical.

A disappointing experience: The food was so so and the service was bad. The scantily clad waitresses seemed more interested in socializing with each other and guys at the bar than actually serving their customers. We were told the chicken yard bird was not ready to be served though on the limited July 4th menu. The catfish was fried a little too soft for my taste and the hush puppies were down right cold. The banana pudding tasted like it came from a box and the cup of ice cream was nearly melted. However the one area where they did deliver was with the wings. Both the habanero BBQ and lemon pepper were very good. We won't be back.

I just moved to Riverside and I thought I would check it out. It had a good vibe and the BBQ was really good. The portions were smaller than what I am use to getting, but I will still be back.

Let me start by saying this place is lucky my girlfriend isn't the one reviewing it because she is far harsher. Decor works. You feel like you're in a down home bbq joint. Mission accomplished. I liked the menu and its simplicity as well. (although there was some confusion on the combo in that ribs and wings were not an option although they appeared to be.) My first issue was with the burnt ends. I came here for the burnt ends, because FYI, it is very hard to find burnt ends around Atlanta. this place offered them so I came. They were sub par in my opinion. They were 1.5 inch cubes of dry brisket black on all sides. This is not the burnt ends I know and love. Definite disappointment when that was my sole purpose for coming there. Other lackluster food: the brunswick stew was just okay... tasted and looked like something you would get out of a can. The potato salad had pretty much no flavor and the potato seemed slightly undercooked. The good food: I really enjoyed the okra. I love okra, and whenever I order fried okra I assume it's going to be sliced and in corn meal. However, they fry it whole and in almost a tempura type batter. Very different and very tasty. We ordered some wings and they were very good. They're smoked and then flash fried so they are flavorful and juicy. However, I recommend getting them in a sauce because the dry rub just isn't enough. The pulled pork was also very good, but a little dry like it was pulled long before I ordered it. On top of food shortcomings, there were several service issues. The server, although very nice and polite,. was the only server working the lunch shift. So she was obviously overwhelmed by five or six tables. On top of that, our bill was mixed with the table next to us so when I got my bill it was over 80 dollars for the two of us. She fixed it, but it caused a longer delay than there already was. The service issues really weren't her fault, but management for only having one server, that was also acting as the bartender. If I'm in the area and needing some bbq I would definitely come here again. Just a disappointment when I came out of the way for burnt ends that were not great.

We decided on a spur of the moment that we wanted BBQ and the son had driven past this location before so we mapquested it from our house and went in. I will start by saying, I could go here and order nothing but the fried okra and be a really happy girl. I like the fact that their entire menu fits on a 11x24 blackboard, and is written in colored chalk. Sometimes that just the kinda place I want to be. It was weird getting into the restaurant. We parked in back, and started walking around to the front when a guy that was standing outside told us we could go in from the back parking lot. They also have patio seating. A run down of our meal includes , 1 half slab of ribs, a smoked bird (which is half a bird still on the bone), a pulled smoked bird (half a bird chopped and off the bone), and pulled pork. We had the mac and cheese, Brunswick stew, fried okra and fried green tomatoes. It was our first time here, so we went for the full throttle. In order, the ribs were tasty and the sauce that they waitress bought to the table in the red ketchup bottle, did them even more justice. The pulled pork was alright, nothing to elaborate on further, the smoked bird was juicy, and needed nothing added to it. The pulled bird was cold, and while it was delicious, it was cold, so that took away from it. The mac and cheese. I've had better. Right in my own kitchen as a matter of fact, the fried green tomatoes:see my above reference on the okra. My mother and I were fighting over the last one. The Brunswick stew, either it was just okay, or it was missing something as I don't recall eating it, and the sliver that I had in my to-go box the next morning didn't impress me either. I will admit to being disappointed in the size of side items at $4 each. Namely the okra (lol) and the mac and cheese. I thought it would have been much more of each at $4 a small bowl size. Now onto our server. Most people have listed poor service as part of their reviews, we must have gone on a good night, our server was Crystal, and she was pleasant, answered all of our whats this and whats that questions, checked on us enough to satisfy us, remembered straws and frosted glasses for my mothers beer, was on point about the Hawg-a-ritas, The cook came out the kitchen and even posed for a picture with my mom (yes, we are corny like that), so I give the service 4 stars also. Final note: The Hawg-a-rita is a margarita served in a 32oz mason jar. It knocked me on my behind!

Tried their street tacos and buffalo chicken Mac/cheese the taste of Marietta and were blown away by the flavors. We have meant to stop by the restaurant for awhile and finally did last night and were so looking forward to the encore!! Well.. It didn't even seem like the same restaurant..... same creativity on the menu, but that's where it stayed. Started with the Mac/cheese balls which were a deep fried combination of overcooked pasta with a cold center..We got a combo and a half rack of ribs. The pork was old and dried out as well as the ribs, the beer can chicken was fresh and had great flavor. There was so much grease on the Mac/Cheese side we didn't touch it.. Sad to say, it was hit and miss and mostly miss. If we see a catering truck @ an event wouldn't hesitate, but will steer clear of the restaurant..

Had no idea there was a Cowboys bar in Atlanta. While not a fan per-say, the crowd was really nice. The owner is extremely nice as well. The food, Amazing! I had the Stewey Mac and is was amazing. Brunswick Stew - delicious, topped with Mac and Cheese and Onion Ring Straws. Probably the best thing on the menu. The wings are good as well. The pulled pork sandwich is huge and comes with a double helping of meat! Can't wait to go back!

I used to come here a couple years back and they seem to be in a constant state of overturn, from chef to cooks to bartenders and servers. However, looks like cashmere knows how to run the bar and will be here for a while. I like the concept, people, and most of all ribs and fried onions straws on top with green bean salad. Chances are next time I'm there it will be different sides but that's cool, owner Kyle knows was he's doing. Mad respect. The lunch special BLT is pretty legitimate too.

When we got there, I thought the place was closed -- it was that empty sparing a couple of people at the bar that I thought worked there. Got a table and sat down. Lacked a kids menu, but there were things that the 5 yr old could/would eat. Food came out quickly. Was fantastic! Meat was tender and juicy, sides (Mac and cheese, baked beans, and corn on the cob) were flavorful. Next time, will ask to leave off the DSB seasoning on the corn and the Mac. It was good for the adults, but not appealing to the 5 yr old which left her hungry and it wasn't mentioned on the menu.

The service makes the experience here although the bbq is pretty good. Big beer selection, GREAT bartenders, and freshly made bbq with a dry rub that's.... unique. I'm thankful for someplace like this in the neighborhood. Definitely a cool divey townie bar hangout.

These folks are not honest, and they rip off the bands they hire to play music. They lie, give a guarantee, only to go back on it or come up with exhorbitant food and beverage charges that keep the band from being able to make a profit at all. I hear stories from my friends about this happening over and over, so it's not just a one time deal. Plus the food just isn't good. If integrity and honesty and things like that matter to you, then find another place to eat. And musicians- definitely find another place to play! Lots of great bbq restaurants in Atlanta; this is not one of them. Go to DBA or Fox Brothers, or even Williamson Bros in Marietta- they're worth the drive.

This was absolutely underwhelming in a state and city that knows BBQ better than we know peaches. The first red flag was when the sweet tea came out not sweet. I can't trust a BBQ place that doesn't do sweet tea well, but my fiancée was hopeful. The meat was tough, dry, and not typical pulled pork. He switched his tune. The potato salad that was recommended by the manager or owner was plain and not worth finishing, except you paid $10 for a sandwich and side. Redeeming value - interactive outdoor patio area with corn hole and darts.

I bought a Yelp deal here when on vacation with my boyfriend and we wanted to try some legit home-cookin BBQ. The location was really cool, but the service was AWFUL. Took about 15-20 minutes for us even to be greeted at our table, then once our server brought us a couple waters, she never came back. After about another 20 minutes, my boyfriend flagged down our server who was hanging out behind the bar with some of the other employees. When she comes to our table, she told us the kitchen had just closed and she didn't think she could put any more food in! We were furious since we've been waiting for about 40 minutes already to get her attention! Then she went to the back and asked the kitchen, and they were fortunately able to take another order. All the food was very good. Not amazing but good. Not worth it to deal with the horrible service.

They have wonderful food, inexpensive drinks, and fun games to play! They have live music a lot and just started a Sunday Brunch with $12 bottomless mimosas for the ladies! I highly recommend it for whatever you're looking for. Oh yeah, if you're a Dallas Cowboys fan, they are an official fans location since the owner is from Dallas!

Good little divey place but it's nice inside and has a nice smoky BBQ smell all the way from the parking lot. My waitress Pam was friendly and she was a cutie! Had the wings and they were decent but I'm not a huge fan of smokey wings although I like them on the grill. The Mac and cheese jalapeño balls were awesome. Cool spot, I'll have to try the brisket or pork next time

Attractive staff, above average BBQ in an old gutted home. I had the pulled pork and two sides - the green beans were really good; the potato salad was good but a little too much mayo for my taste. Service attentive and drinks are kept full.

This was not my 1st time here so I knew what to order (the smoked chicken breast and Mac n Cheese). My girl had the smoked wings. She was not impressed. This is a favorite spot for my homeboy that lives in the area so I'm sure I will end up eating here again in the future.

I had been wanting to stop at this place for awhile.Every since I seen this place on a food show where someone burned up the pit lol. I finally convinced some co-workers to go and to my surprise they had NO chicken! I couldn't believe it but I did not come for that I came for that "I love sammich" it's a Deep fried brisket &Mac-n-Cheese on a pool of BBQ. See hungry just thinking about it and for you love of god the waitress did not know what I was talking about. I even pulled up the website and still no idea so long story short we left. Friendly people and clean bathroom would make me come and try again.

I think I made a mistake, wanting to eat food and not being drunk. Maybe if I was drunk I wouldn't have noticed that the food was totally average, in fact I think KFC would have been better. The chicken was cooked and had a nice bbq flavor, but it was nothing to recommend, took too long and was too expensive for the quality and presentation.

  • Captain D.

Your old pal the Captain scouted this neighborhood for a hideout two years ago but time, tide and circumstance took him (that's me we be talking about in the third person) in a different direction. However, if the Captain (still me, still third person) did in fact live in this neighborhood today he (me) would be very happy (happy). Did you get that? Could you diagram it? Did it have a gerund? Well this house of barbeque doesn't feature gerund on its menu, but it *does* feature a tremendous amount of enthusiasm (my waitress/bartender Jill provided gracious good company). Toss in a gaggle of lubbers what be hungry for new businesses to take root in their riverside community and you'll have a safe bet that five years from now Hottie Hawg's will be one of the most popular hangouts in the area. Mind you that what follows is an early appraisal (not a review) of my food since vivacious Jill did confess that they still be in a soft-opening mode. The plate of victuals they placed in front of me held a bowl of stew, a hearty dollop of potato salad and a meat what they called "Texas brisket". The potato salad was solid - it could've held its own against any competition from a church potluck supper. The stew was flavorful, though it did tend toward the soupy side, unlike the thick, thick style of Brunswick stew to which the Captain has become accustomed. This is not to say that it wasn't tasty, it was! The brisket? A bit too dry for my tastes... rather like a ship's deck without sea spray; the one needs the other. As it was, I had to use several dollops one of Hottie Hawg's sauces to bring enough moisture back to the meat to keep my tongue interested. However, those sauces do be tasty and you'll certainly want to experiment with them. Next time I go I'll order the pulled pork! (this means that I shall return at some point... you should too!!)

  • Rob P.

Was here for an all you can eat/drink buffet for the Super Bowl. It was a good deal for $20, but the barbecue wasn't anything special. I wanted to try the brisket, but it wasn't on the buffet. On food and price, it's probably 3 stars. But it wasn't really my scene. If you're into eating food with blaring music, stripper-waitresses, and rednecks, then you should totally go. And evidently the #1 rule of Hottie Hawgs is...$1.50 service charge for to-go orders. Yep. They wrote it on a big board inside. Can't make this stuff up.

Love the food. The BBQ is amazing. The service however is almost always poor. I've been going to Hotties since the first day it opened and regularly since, and the food keeps getting even better, but the attitude of the "Hotties," aka, the servers, is not always very welcoming. They are also not very attentive, although they have a notice posted about the importance tipping generously. I'd like to post a notice about good service. That's how people notice to tip well. Overall, the food is great and you're in the hood, don't miss it. Just don't expect to feel too at home. They just renovated and reopened, so I hope they are making efforts to fix the atmosphere and service.

The food is really good. The meat is always tender and the sides never disappoint. I'm not a fan of the new menu. The old menu from about 2 years ago was better and easier to understand. The food is good, so we keep going back. The service can be questionable. Seems like they have trouble getting/keeping good servers.

A roadhouse BBQ haven I must start out saying that I liked this place. Back east of the Mississip', and back in Atlanta, I went in search of real BBQ. The Texas BBQ with their tomato/jalapeño based sauce was wearing thin on me. So I was a little weary when I walked in and found out that Hottie Hawg's identifies themselves as a "Texas BBQ joint." Fortunately that started, and ended with selling meat by the pound. Eh, I can live with that. So I had a half pound of pulled pork, on a bun, with mac-n-cheese, and beans as my sides. The pulled pork by itself was great. Smoky, with a deep rich flavor. Add on their own Hot Bastard Mustard sauce, and you've got an amazing combination. The mac-n-cheese was good. I must say that the jalapeños in it were a surprise. Don't know that I care for the combination, but I will say that I am a Yankee (reformed), so that might have something to do with it. Similarly, the beans I did not care for. My guess is that they cook them with beef drippings. As I'm not a beef fan, so that combination doesn't sit well with me. The setting was great. The buildings appear to be an old school house, or maybe a church. One way or another, it's been painted to definitly stand out in the neighborhood. The interior is a typical roadhouse style, with blues memorabilia, and BBQ competition winnings plastered all over. This creates a very casual, and relaxed atmosphere. From the moment I sat down everything, and everyone felt welcoming. Ms. Stacy was absolutely great. Keeping me company, telling me all about the BBQ compitions, and some of the history of the place. One thing that really stands out to someone dining alone, is how friendly the staff is. I know I'm more likely to to return to a place, if I feel like I've got a friend there. Anyone that comes in while Ms. Stacy is working, knows they have a friend there. Overall, Hottie Hawgs gets a top rating for thier friendly atmosphere, and their great BBQ. This will be a must hit location from now on, whenever I'm in Atlanta.

This place was the worst... I bought a $25 for $10 yelp deal and I want my freakin' money back. I was on my way home from a training and decided to stop in to grab something to-go and avoid cooking dinner. I figured I could get a little of everything with my Yelp deal and have enough for me and the wife.... I ordered a combo meal of burnt ends and chopped brisket as well as an order of the wings. The chopped brisket was decent, but definitely nothing to write home about. The burnt ends were TERRIBLE! The were huge 2 inch cubes or charred FAT. And I mean this stuff was litterally burned to a crisp and blacker than midnight... For my sides, I chose the fries which were pretty good and the side salad. I gave the wings(drummettes) to my wife along with the salad. The wings were good, but at $9 for a total of six small drummettes, its definitely not worth it. And to top it off, her salad had a nice long hair in it... Spent the extra $15 I saved going to Zaxby's to buy us both salads... No chance of me going back here.

I heard about this place back in the summer and decided to give it a try. My first time at this place I was not impressed. The service sucked, the food was cold, and the margarita was NOT GOOD. It was a Sunday night and the place was dead. I decided to try it again. I went for lunch on a Friday and the food was decent, but again the service was less than average. I have been back to Hottie Hawgs on two more occasions with the most recent being this past Friday (Oct. 28, 2011). I have tried the ribs, brisket, chicken, and pulled pork. I have yet to try anything that has blown me away. This place is way too small to play music as loud as they do. The menu is not very well put together. The servers are annoying and honestly suck at customer service. The food is not horrible, but it is just not good. I do not believe this place will make it. If you want really good bbq, go to Fox Bros. BBQ in Little Five Points. Those guys know how to prepare BBQ.

Sausage and chicken are amazing. Excellent sides too. Customer service is almost always on par but staff is always friendly. Can be a little loud but that's cause folks are having a great time!

I was initially skeptical about a place that serves Hawgaritas and caters off the back of an Eighteen Squeeler. But I was pleasantly surprised all around. The BBQ is amazing, especially the brisket, which serve with a delicious maple syrup/habanero sauce. The westside location is a little odd--I grew up in Atlanta and I'd never been to this part of town--but the lack of other commercial businesses around it gives the place a feel of a old-time roadhouse. The service was great, and I'd highly recommend coming here to watch football. Overall I'd recommend this to any BBQ fan in Atlanta, and I think does more than hold its own against more well-known BBQ heavyweights like Daddy D'z and Fox Brothers.

Maybe we caught it on a bad night. Reading all the other reviews, it might seem that way, but I gotta review it for what we had. We went around 8:30pm. The food was just okay, and the service was almost non-existent. We sat outside on the patio, and there was only one other small group that was being attended to by another server. I had the brisket and ribs. The ribs were ok, the brisket was really good and the highlight. My wife got the BBQ chicken, and she said it was mediocre at best. I've definitely had better BBQ around Atlanta. I may go back to see if the experience is better earlier in the day.

I loved this place!! In town for work and decided to try it for the last dinner before heading back home and could not have asked for anything better. The awesome food (they had a cooking demonstration start up right after we arrived-seriously the best tacos I have ever eaten-and they were free!), along with the great atmosphere and staff, left a good taste in my mouth...literally.:). I can't wait to come back to Atlanta, so I can once again enjoy a good beer and great food at this establishment!

This is another of those new spots here in Atlanta that seems intent on marrying barbecue with baseball, football and any other sport that can be televised - and it doesn't work very well. Something has to suffer besides the hearing (the sound system blares a variety of music, any and all of which make conversation impossible), and at Hottie Hawg's, it's the 'cue. HH places too much emphasis on cutesy names for items on a menu that tries too hard to have something for too many palates ("The Hot Bastard Burger," "End All" Buffalo Sandwich, "The Boss Hawg" pulled pork sandwich). And while the barbecue (and that's what brought us here), falls short, they do offer one unique item: Tempura Jalapeno mac and cheese balls ($6.50 for a good sized serving) ... these artery clogging monstrosities are great... and maybe even more at home in a sports bar that serves bar food instead of promoting themselves as a barbecue joint. There are too many good barhecue places in Atlanta to risk giving Hottie's another try... the Brown Shoe Gourmet won't be going back.

Good rubbed smoked wings. The Brisket was decent. They were out of pork, so I couldn't try it. Overall decent spot, but there are much better both in town, and outside (Marietta is the BBQ place to be). Very nice staff, and an interesting spot.

To share the phrase with the Colonel...This place is "FINGER LICKIN' GOOD!" This was my first visit, but my husband frequents the place. Started off with the HAWG-ARITA. Oh my.... They are very generous with their alcohol and it's made completely from scratch...no shortcuts. This is a smorgasbord of what we had to eat: Tomatoes with Onion & Cucumber - interesting & tasty Roadside Salad - surprisingly good and fresh considering this time of the year. Had the homemade buttermilk ranch dressing - TASTE! Macaroni & Cheese - just like MaMa's & truly Southern. Beef Briskit - I don't typically like brisket, so it wasn't my favorite. A bit dry, but then I always think brisket is dry...But others said it was great. Pulled Chicken - absolutely yummy. I could take a lb of that home with me and put it on pizza, in salads, quesadillas, make it a pollo asada taco...the best! Pulled Pork - probably one of the best I've ever had. Decent smoky taste, but not overpowering. Dry Rubbed Wings - ABSOLUTELY TO DIE FOR!!! I swear, I think are the best wings I've ever had. I traditionally order very spicy wings and prefer some heat. Honestly, these didn't need any heat. Plus, they're not deep fried - they're smoked. Un-Freakin'-believable! The wait staff was a little young the night we went, so only a couple of the bartenders could actually pour the drinks. Natalie, the manager, made us feel like we were locals and comped us some shots. FUN! A guy that claimed he was the owner poured us some of his private tequila. What a place...I hope too many people don't find out about it! The atmosphere seemed like you were in someone's house rather than a bar....that is... until the girls started to dance on the bar. That was fun, too...but the Wings were better! :)

Best bbq that I've found so far - after going some competitions and trying quite a few varieties. - Likes: Pulled pork and chicken and brisket are phenomenal! Fried pickles are delish too. Great beer specials during Braves games (24oz Genessee/$2). The girls (or at least the two who waited on us both visits) had great personalities and didn't completely focus on flirting with the guys - which made the conversation fun for me as well. The head chef/bbq/owner? (Matthew?) came out and gave us a little run-down of his experience - very personalble. It makes a difference - to me, at least, if the staff cares if you enjoyed the food. - Dislikes: Did not care for the vinegar-based coleslaw. Music was really loud.

I am a big fan, a huge fan! Mark my words, southern hospitality at its finest. I thought in Atlanta, you would have to go beyond 285 to get that but feel free to drop in at Hottie Hawg's smoking BBQ. The actual food wasn't a five star, maybe a 3.5 to a 4 but the service, the hospitality, the offering of free drinks, the come in and make yourself feel at home vibe makes any spot. Such a friendly vibe by the servers and managers. I am DEFINITELY returning for the live band, more bbq and drinks. The bbq chicken and pulled pork was delicious. Mac & cheese was banging, potato salad was average. I'm a fan. 5 star, around the way spot!

Delicious local barbecue. I got the smoked wings and macaroni and cheese to go and my roommate got the brisket sandwich. The macaroni was a little dry, perhaps the end of the batch. The brisket sandwich was missing the onion straws and was also a little dry. It could have maybe used some BBQ sauce but she said it was still delicious. The wings were AMAZING. So tender you could eat them with a fork if you wanted to. The meat just fell off the bone. The flavor was perfect. Yum yum yum. Going back ASAP. The fries looked really good so maybe I'll get those, or give the Mac and cheese another shot.

The bartenders and servers were really cute the food was excellent and the owner was generous beyond belief, If you are a cowboys fan this is the place. the only problem was that the service was so ovewhelmed that she didn't bring me my first beer until almost the end of the first quarter . I only got that beer becasue my freind went to another server. I had asked for several food items as well as other at my table have asked for items that we never recieved at all.

The westside has been lacking a good down and dirty BBQ joint, and thanks to Hottie Hawgs we now have one. Not only do they feature great BBQ no matter what your preference (Texas, Carolina etc) they have created a fun and playful atmosphere that works for customers any age. If its your first time, I would try the Texas Brisket first with a side of the "stewy mac" which is a combo of their mac n cheese and their Brunswick stew. Their wings are also awesome and just fall off the bone, not the greasy fried crap they serve at that other famous restaurant the features girls in short shorts as servers. Oh yeah did I forget to mention that the servers are called "Hottie Hotties". You must also try their signature Hawgarita, which is a monster margarita served in a giant mason jar. They also have a great beer selection, which range from craft beers to domestics. Its a great place to catch the game with some great bbq. Great job HHBQ!

Follow up to my initial visit proved to be just as good if not better. So the first visit to HH's was during their soft opening period. The decor and food and service had not been settled on and things were still getting together. I visited again last night and was very pleased with everything new and improved. I placed a togo order and took a look around. The place looks great. A very comfortable dining room with just enough space to keep the crowd big even if you are the only one in the room (which was not the case). The servers and bartenders are all nice looking ladies (get it? Hottie Hawgs!) who seem to have a grasp on things. I was a bit worried though that if the place was packed, my bartender might not be able to handle it. She was a bit confused on which tab was mine and could have been a little more efficient. No big deal though. I order the pulled pork sandwich on texas toast with spud fries on the side and an order of the smoked wings, dry rub flavor. While I waited I had a glass of the sweet tea with a hint of peach flavor. Very tasty and here is where I nit pick. The bartender poured the glass with not enough ice (we are in the South and ice is required to make ice tea just the right temperature. too little just does not do it) and did not put a lemon on it. I assume these things to happen when I feel like I am receiving 5 star service whether it is at Hottie Hawgs, Chick-fil-A or Chops Steak house, it's the little things. So like I said, no big deal, but I just sense the lack of attention from her may multiply when times are busy. Also, I always pick apart service as I was a service manager for many years. I got home and dug into the food. The pork sandwich tasted very good. The flavor of the bbq sauce was sweet and hot and very good. The dry rub wings were very tasty also. I thought that the next time I go I will order a wing sauce for dipping as I would have liked to try one. Looking forward to spending more nights at our local eatery that is living up to my expectations.

We stopped here because the wonderful outsider artist Mr. Imagination was having a show in the "lobby" of Hottie Hawgs one cold Saturday afternoon in February. It was our first time ever in the Riverside neighborhood, and we had a friend visiting from Berkeley. It was time for a late lunch, so we decided to give the place a shot. What a pleasant surprise, kind of a "Community Q meets Hooters" thing. The servers were sweet with their bare midriffs, Daisy Dukes, and ink, although the midriffs were eventually covered by sweatshirts thanks to the cold air blasts whenever the door opened. The food was fresh, the pulled pork was delicious, our buddy thought the chicken sandwich was outstanding, and the three of us couldn't finish the enormous plate of fried okra. Draft beer selection was aces as well. The artwork around the place by Mr. I is cool, too. The music was a surprise, too, leaning towards indie rock in a place where you would expect blooz or redneck country by the looks of it. If snything ever brings me back to that part of town, I will include a stop at Hottie Hawgs.

Went in for the first time on Sunday to watch the Kansas City Chiefs game, not only did they put the game on the TV directly in front of me but they made sure I got the sound too. If you're a sports fan you know how important sound is when watching a game. Because I wore my Chiefs jersey I was also awarded a FREE beer every time KC scored a TD. On to the food, there were so many thing I wanted to try so I just went big and got all of them. First I will list what was great and then I will list what wasn't... Great: Half rack of Ribs, Uncle Cooter's stew, DSB dry rub smoked wings. Not Great: N/A (Couldn't find anything that wasn't great) I will absolutely be back, thanks to Brian and Nina for their hospitality!

If I am in Atlanta again, There is no doubt that I will be returning here. This BBQ place was amazing, probably the best BBQ I have ever had in my life. I had the pulled pork and my father had the ribs, and the portions were huge and I still finished everything and was so happy I even tried their homemade apple buy, which was JUST LIKE MOM used to make. There was no need for napkins, as I couldn't get enough of there sauce. I Went during the NCAA Final Four and was so happy to have eaten at a place where I could watch the games on TV and enjoy such a great meal. Good Selection of Beers GREAT PLACE....MUST GOOO

Wow! This place is incredibly interesting and worth checking out. Clearly riverside is going through a regentrification and slowly, and the only reason I drive down here is to go to the FTY airport. First off what a name! Great choice and ballsy... On the TV they have fox news and the hunting channel on - that got the 5th star. Our waitress was attentive, patient and had the most amazing tats I have ever seen - gorgeous! Food was excellent, across the board, great pork, great burgers and great fried okra. One little nit - our fantastic waitress bragged they got 3rd place for their Rub in Atlanta - really? Who got #1 and #2? lol

Bangin neighborhood spot! After a long Friday night at work, all a gal wants is a bar stool and a cold beer. And it didn't hurt that their video crack (photo hunt) was up and running for business! Granted, it was a friends and family appreciation night after a few days of soft openings for the newest restaurant in Riverside, but Jill welcomed us like old pals. There's nothing wrong with delicious wings (for the lady), loud music, and girls in short shorts and cowboy boots dancing on the bar (think Coyote Ugly minus the bad attitude and the annoying Piper Perebo). Bonus: it's less than 3 blocks away from the casa. We'll def be back.

It's a Man-Cave or Your best-friend's Hooked up Basement. The drinks are strong and full of imagination Their smoked Brisket is Southern World Class good. The music is loud and good and the live act was really GREAT!!! A oneman band "really" singing Delta Blues. Try their Burger too. Oh yea the service was really good &&&& HOTTT! but not flirty. I am calling the fellows to drink, eat Good BBQ, listen to loud Rock & Blues, watch about 5 tv's or more all sports, and watch the wait staff, then lets round up and head out!

Wow! This joint has it happenin'!! First of all, the ribs are just amazing. Smoked to perfection and a rub that I just haven't found anywhere. The Maple Habenero and Hot Bastard sauces just add additional goodness. I'm definitely partial to the HB, though. Being a Texas-style joint, the brisket oughta be great, and it makes the grade. Tender, flavorful, and just the best to be had, this side of the Mississippi. Did I mention the Hotties? Yeah, that's not bad either. Finally, I can't not mention the great artist, Mr. Imagination, who has adopted the place. He's there more often than not, and has donated significant pieces to the place. Mr. I, as he's known, most impressively made a special guitar for the Hawg that is just a few pickups short of playable. Overall, there's a lot of good things happening down in Riverside. It's definitely worth a trip.

I was visiting a friend that just bought a house on the west side of Atlanta and he brought me to Hottie Hawgs, well of course I made fun of the name, reminded me of a drunken college experience.... or two. Let's set the precedent here..this BBQ...Texas BBQ. So everything is a little over the top, from the staff, their "Uniform" and the funny menu descriptions..Uncle Cooters Brunswick stew. I guess it's almost as good as the bearded clam stew. Once you get past that, the food was very good. I mean some of the best BBQ I've had in town. The place is fun and I love the Stevie Ray Vaughn Shrine. I did read some of the reviews before I wrote this and think some of the people missed the point. It's hard for so called "foodies" to believe the "common man/woman may actually really really like comfort food in a comfort setting and these guys got it down.

I live a few miles from this restaurant and hadn't stopped in for the first year they were open. Boy, had I been missing out! This has now been my new favorite place for the past several months. Can't wait for the cooler weather to enjoy the patio. Here's a tip in order to really get a sampling of their BBQ...order the "Boss Hog" sandwich...it's enough to split between 2 people and you get a little bit of everything...brisket, pulled pork and smoked chicken (my fav). Start off with "Hawgs Balls" - tempura battered mac & cheese...these things are insane delicious! The staff is very friendly and attentive.

I really enjoyed this tucked away Whittier Mill Village restaurant! My friend and I walked from his house to Hottie Hawg's Smokin' BBQ on a Saturday night. Not sure what to expect, I was immediately pleased with this neighborhood restaurant! It took a little bit of time to get our first order of beers, but after that, the service was not a problem at all. I ordered the DSB (Don't Stop Believin') Char-Smoked Chicken Sandwich with Tomato, Cucumber and Vidalia Onion Salad. So yummy! I tried and enjoyed both BBQ sauces (Hot Bastard Mustard and Traditional BBQ. My friend had the Chopped Brisket Sandwich and he commented it was the best dish he has had at Hottie Hawg's so far! I'm looking forward to my next visit to Hottie Hawg's because there appeared to be so many good items on the menu!

The Boss Hawg sandwich is the truth and the test of any real man. As it is a massive combination of brisket, chicken and pork I expected at least one of the three to be dry and not awesome. To my pleasant surprise everything was really excellent. The sauces are meh, but the meats are so good it's irrelevant. If you like BBQ this place is worth checking out.

Great little hidden place in Bolton. Had the Stewy Mac which is 2 of my favorite thugs mixed. Mac and Cheese and brunswick stew. Also tried the Scrimp and Grits... again it was wonderful. I will be coming back here again and again. Easily one of the best BBQ in the Atlanta area.

I tried this place because i had one of those "daily deal" vouchers. I absolutely did not waste my money on this one! I went just before the evening crowd would have been filing in. The staff was ridiculously friendly. The owner even came out to welcome me and tell me about specials, upcoming shows and such. While I waited for my order I snacked on these spicy peanuts in a shell (wow; how did they do that?). After a short wait they brought my food which was FREAKIN' FANTASTIC! All of my out of town comany will be eating here.review, or if you're connected in any way to the owner or employees.

Honestly, i'm really giving a 4.5 star rating. I LOVE this place! I live close by, and I'm so glad that this place is just minutes away. No, it's not plush, but if you're cool with an eclectic, smokehouse-ie look, fantastic bar-b-que, super nice staff, a really nice owner... this is the place for you (so don't get thrown off when you first walk in). They just updated their menu, so there are even more tasty items to choose from. They've also added brunch, which i haven't been to, but I'm certainly going to grab some friends and check it out. They are starting to have games and live music, so that's cool. The food is great!

This place is awesome! It has a laid back vibe and great BBQ. We usually start with fried pickles and jalapenos. Delish. Then move onto anything on the menu because it's all good. I am a big fan of the mac and cheese and the brunswick stew for the sides. Or you can order the stewy mac which is a combination of the two. Brilliant! I usually order the chopped salad with a meat. I've topped it with the brisket, pulled pork and chicken. Each have been equally tasty. I also really like the wings. These are the real deal. They aren't the frozen, generic wings that many establishments serve. They are succulent and tasty. I really like the dry rub option. Oh, and the baked beans have a great flavor. I also recommend them for catering. The food showed up piping hot and right on time. I served a BBQ sandwich bar with chicken or pulled pork and the sides were coleslaw, mac and cheese, and baked beans. It came to $120. It fed everyone (15) and we had left overs for several days. I was surprised at how economical it was. Everyone raved about it! We ordered a smoked turkey from Hottie Hawgs for Christmas (12 of us). It was a huge hit. I mean everyone really, really loved it. No one ever raved about my turkey like that! I'm quite sure I'm never going to cook a turkey again. It allowed me to focus on the sides and made for a much more relaxed day. They recently added draft beer with some great craft beer selections. Oh, and their Hawgaritas are kha-razy! Definitley friend them on facebook. They post specials on facebook that if mentioned will save you big bucks.

This is the second time I've been to hottie hawgs. The first time the food was bland at best. The pulled pork was dry, the sauce was horrible, the sides were very small portions. I was upsold on a "hogarita" which had alot of liquior but was the worst tasting margarita I've ever had. The only reason I went back was because I have friends who play in bands there. The second time I arrived at 8:30 pm on a Saturday night and after we ordered our food 15mins later the waitress came back and told us that they were out of all the sides we ordered. So basicly out of 8 sides they were out of 4. They were out of all the good sides, our options were tomato-cucumber salad and stew basicly. So at this point we were stll willing to role with the punches and stay and eat. We waited an hour and still no food so we left pissed off and hungry!!! It's rediculious to run out of food at 8:30 on a Saturday night. I can understand running out of a side but not everything. If you go to fatt matts the line will be out the door but once you sit down the food will be at your table in no more than 10-15 min tops. All of the BBQ and bs sides should have already been cooked and ready to serve so it shouldn't take an hour to get a scoup of pulled pork and tomato salad! I will never go back!! This place is a lame gimmick with bland food anyway. The staff wasn't even apologetic about the wait or the fact they were out of food. All the people on here that say the food is awesome are either fake reviews to get you to go there or just have never had good BBQ.

    (1)
  • Mike W.

Great BBQ. Great Atmosphere...... The dry rub wings are perfect. The meats are smoked by someone that knows what they are doing. Many places forget the sides, but they do them up right.

I can't comment on the food but the service is terrible. The bartenders and waitresses ate BBQ and chatted with friends/regulars while we sat at the bar, completely ignored. At one point there were 5 waitstaff/bartenders behind the bar and we still had empty glasses. When we finally did get someone to stop chatting with their friends they were rude. Please don't sigh and act like it's an imposition just because I ask for the check. I live close by so I want this place to succeed but I can't see ever going back.

On a trip down to Riverside during lunch to look at a property for rent I decided to get lunch at what could have been a great BBQ spot within 2 minutes of the rental. Looking at the menu and bar I had visions of drink specials dancing in my head, las it is not to be. My appointment was at 12:30 and I stepped in and checked in to the restaurant at 11:45a. This is a texas bbq joint that looks better than the surrounding area. Prices are definitely above normal for the area especially considering the competition I'm putting them up against, Heirloom market BBQ, which is 5 minutes from work. I order the 3 meats and 2 sides @ a total of $22. I'm sorry but that is ridiculously priced, especially for someplace out of the way as this. Sliced brisket @ $2 extra instead of chopped. BTW who gets brisket chopped? Texas sausage and pulled pork. My sides were collards and coleslaw. I asked what type of slaw wondering if its vinegar or mayo based as I was just wondering. The nice waitress said it was vinegar. Okey doke I placed my order. At 12:20 I received my plate. Not good, it shouldn't take 1/2 an hour to get a plate of pre-cooked food. They forgot one of the sides and the slaw was vinegar not mayo, not a ding against the mayo but the server should know the menu. The "plate" was served in a cast iron skillet that was refrigerator cold, why. Why use a skillet if you're not gonna heat it up? The presentation was nice but I was underwhelmed by the portions expecting 3/4 of meat. I just didn't see it. The slaw was alright, the collards were really pretty good, the pulled pork was cooked well but no smoke flavor that I could tell. The sausage could have been good, i couldn't tell as it came sliced and drenched in this vinegar/mustard based sauce that took over the sausage completely. The sauce was alright but unneeded as they serve it table side as well plus sausage is spicy and flavorful alone or it should be. The brisket, supposedly the saving grace of Texas BBQ was dry, overcooked and tough. In short the value is low, the flavor and portions are equally low but they have drink specials with free popcorn for what its worth.

Try the jalapeño cornbread. Yummy! Baked beans were delicious! I'll definitely come back to try more items on the menu. Out waitress Kashmere was excellent. Only complaint was portion of chicken served. Could have eaten more but for the total price I really can't complain.

had the chicken sandwich for lunch. it was very dry and tough, and i'm pretty sure it was a day old. one waitress/bartender with a bad memory. collards were fine, but even i can cook those.

Pretty good! I went there with a friend for a Dallas Cowboys game. The place was full of rowdy cowboys fans, with a good mix of people. Everyone was really friendly, and in a good mood. We got the Rib tips, Brisket sandwich, pulled pork and BBQ burger. The food was decent, but the real story at hottie hawgs is the SAUCE. Damn. I tried to buy a bottle, but they were out. The waitresses were real friendly, and service was good (considering the mad rush that they get hit with). I would go back, but if you are a BBQ snob, this is not top-notch. Without the sauce, the meat is just "meh".

Saw an ad for Hottie Hawg's in Facebook and since it was close to my office I thought that I would try it for lunch. This review covers two seperate visits. On the first visit and being from Texas, I had the sliced brisket and fries. The brisket was very good, but it wasn't pull apart tender. The barbeque sauces added some nice flavor to the meat and the seasoning that they add to the fries really make them pop. On my second visit, I had burnt ends and a 3-piece side of fried pork belly. The first time I tried burnt ends was 10-years ago in Kansas City and they were heavenly from what I recall. At Hottie Hawg's the burnt ends were fatty and chewy. Since I don't have a more frequently tasted comparison, it's hard to rate them relative to another BBQ establishment. So, I will leave it with my fatty and chewy impression. The fried pork belly is just a fancy term for BACON. Since I have started making my own bacon at home, I just had to try theirs. Now, I am not an expert BBQ pitmaster or BBQ competition participant, but I'd take my bacon hands down over theirs and one of my colleagues concluded the same. While their fried pork belly is good, it lacked a lot of flavor that really pops in your mouth. Their recipe could stand to use some sugar and molasses/syrup as part of their curing process, before smoking, slicing, and frying. Just my two cents.

I find that great BBQ restaurants usually get better with time. Not so at the Hawg. Their brisket was my favorite, now not so much. When they first opened they were the best, in just about everything, now I can't recommend a single item. Too bad....

This is long over due, but let's just get to the point. I...LOVE...THIS...PLACE. :-) Friendly owner (he rocks seriously), friendly staff, and some bleep bleep bleep bleeping good bbq. I have never been disappointed and I have been to this restaurant more than a few times, and I don't even live close to it. Now I have a craving for some brisket and Mac & Cheese, and it's only 8:42am. :-/

The food was great...BBQ was well cooked and scrumptious....just that it had more dressing on it than our waitress...this ain't a strip club folks! It was even hard to look at her face and have a simple conversation... And the decor...I understand the rustic chic look, but please make sure you chairs are functional and benches don't have huge rips in them...

The service was terrible. We were a group of four and it was a hassle getting the waitress over to our table (Only having 2 waitresses is probably the cause). Also, it was freezing cold and dark too (No lights at all). I had the chicken plate with mac & cheese with fries. Everything was very tasty and the price was decent.

I ate here for lunch since it is close to the office. The experience started off a little awkwardly since I was not sure which building to enter; the business is comprised of two little red houses. I later found out the one on the left (when facing both from the street) is "the restaurant" while the one on the right is the "administrative offices." I sat at the bar where I was waited on by the lovely and fetching Martha; she is as courteous as she is attractive. I ordered Ice Tea but was told that it was not available for some reason (perhaps not on the menu) so I went with a Coke. For my food choice, I went with the pulled pork sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. The pulled pork sammy was piled high with meat and had an nicely executed onion ring / fried onion straw garnish. The container of barbeque sauce, that came with the sandwich, was a little on the skimpy side and not quite as spicy as I prefer. But there certainly was enough smoked pulled pork piled high on the bun that I had to eat down with a fork before attempting to eat the whole contraption as a sandwich. The mac and cheese side was very good if not great; however, the portioning was not quite as generous as one might get at Fox Brothers. The accompanying pickle spear was spot on. With tax, tip and beverage the bill came to just under twelve bucks; not exactly a bargain but not altogether a rip-off either. I found the overall experience to be quite enjoyable. I wish the place had more of a lunch crowd. Hottie Hawgs reminds me of a Hooters or a Tilted Kilt in the form of a Texas style barbeque joint. Oddly enough, the place was somewhat dead for a workday lunch hour; however, service was sufficiently speedy as a result making the experience a quick (fast in / fast out) affair. Perhaps really deserves 3.5 stars but on this visit I will dispense with four.

I have been raving about this location for over a year. Location recently shut down for "remodeling". Not sure if that is code for new ownership as design of location looks exactly the same, minus a wall. Waited for server to approach us for over ten minutes, which is crazy given how small this place is. Once approached, the server informed us that she could not serve food after 7pm on Sunday because the kitchen was closed. She was also a little annoyed that we wanted to order drinks. I did notice that the DSB wings are no longer on the menu, which was the biggest selling feature about this location! Offering drumsticks now... most people stopped eating drumsticks at age 8. Used to be a big fan; not so much now.

Hands down the best Margarita in Atlanta. No mix, pure lime juice and simple syrup. The smoked wings were Awesome. Skip the sauce and order them dry. Fall off the bone and crispy at the same time. Just amazing.

This place is awesome - the food is created, cooked and served with care and the drinks are generous and affordable. Big supporters of live music! They have live music a couple nights a week, open mic nights, karaoke, and special events. The owner Kyle has a big heart and it is apparent everywhere you look.

Overall HHBBQ had very good food and cheap beer, but had a few other elements that detracted from the overall experience. Our very chesty waitress (learned later that this is supposed to be a "breastaurant") was helpful and usually easy to flag down for another beer or refill of water. Only knock here was half of my beer was cleared when I was in the bathroom. I had the sliced brisket, even the small size portion was large enough to have leftovers. Not overly fatty, but enough to have the tender texture you expect from smoked brisket. The fries were good, looked to be hand cut though a little limp. Sauces looked to be home made - I tried both the vinegar based and the mustard based. The vinegar based sauce had a little too much tang for me, was very heavy on the vinegar. I found the mustard based sauce to be very tasty, just the right amount of mustard with a nice smoky flavor to it. The real ding against this place is the location. I was worried to leave my car in the lot out back. This place is in a terrible neighborhood and the parking lot is behind the building, completely blocked from the street. I feel bad for the last employee to leave, I imagine their heart must really be pounding every night!

I'm not sure what happened to this place. My husband and I ate there in April and then went away for the summer. We were looking forward to some delicious Hottie Hawgs food in the wondrous variety we loved - what a disappointment. The restaurant has very few tables now. The menu is extremely limited, outrageously expensive, and all a la carte. The food is served on stone cold iron skillets which is an unappetizing presentation. I ordered one of my favorite sides, the Lone Star coleslaw. I received a small cup of shredded cabbage with a few corn kernels included and it tasted just like shredded cabbage and nothing else. The corn kernels didn't even have flavor. All the sides are now $4 and if a small cup of cabbage is an example of a $4 side then don't order any sides. My son ordered the $13 Hawgburger. It was relatively small and included five fries. The burger patty was burnt and the bun was hard. The highlights of the meal were the hot sausage my husband ordered and the St. Louis ribs I ordered. Both were delicious, especially the ribs. We also ordered the jalapeño cornbread which had little flavor, none of which was jalapeño. Mysteriously it had an unattractive slice of melted, cold cheddar on the cornbread. Hottie Hawgs used to be a delicious food destination now it's more like a high priced Hooters knock off without much variety or flavor. I really do hope they get their act together, they had something good going.

Had some DEE-LICIOUS BBQ catered by Hottie Hawgs for our Memorial Day party! Everyone loved it and ate every last bit. I would highly recommend them!
