So let me be clear. I'm reviewing the Roast Beef "Po Boy" only. I'm sure I'll catch plenty of guff for slandering the name of an 80-year staple of Atlanta, but I'm sure there's a few folks that might appreciate my forewarning. If it's a Roast Beef Po Boy you're looking for, unfortunately Henri's isn't the place. Well, unless you're looking for the Roast Beef Po Boy's weird and possibly retarded cousin. I'm not sure what it was I just ate, but I can tell you this much...I won't be having it again. I completely understand that Atlanta is far from the bayou, though calling that unnatural combination of meats, cheese, spicy mustard (wtf?!?), and what I think was pork a Roast Beef Po Boy should be a prosecutable offense. Spicy mustard on a Roast Beef Po Boy??? Really??? It's like if a dry, plain roast beef sandwich and a poorly made Cuban sandwich had a baby. And then that baby grew up and didn't amount to much...there's your sandwich. I will say the pastries and cakes looked excellent. But I didn't have the pastries or any cake. I had a Roast Beef Po Boy. Or at least that's what they affectionately call it. Maybe it's an inside joke and I missed it. Either way, a swing and a miss is an understatement. Sadly, I am in search of a true Roast Beef Po Boy in Atlanta. There's a little piece of my soul dying one day at a time that the right Roast Beef Po Boy can heal. If anyone can help I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks in advance.

It was immediate, longing love when I stepped into this place. Beautiful pastries everywhere, sandwiches being made, people eating and laughing; my kind of place directly. I couldn't decide on what kind of coffee cake to get, but I finally went with the cherry and I dogged it out. It was freakin delicious ya'll. It won't be long before I'm back at Henri's doing the most that can be done. I have so much to do there. Henri, where is that free wi-fi dough?

This bakery/deli in the heart of Buckhead came highly recommended for a quick bite to eat on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, Henri did not live up to it to his billing this day. The attitudes of the staff behind the deli counter and the register were sub-standard providing little help or patience for this first time patron. The sandwiches were decent, but nothing out-of-the-ordinary. It is hard to overlook sour dispositions that set the tone for a dining experience despite the size of the tab. Later Henri.

What's the hype about? One of the guys working at the bakery section was creepy. Ignoring his creepy attempt to flirt, I opted to place my order with the friendly woman instead. Apricot rugalah (that's how they have it spelled on the receipt) could have been tastier. I asked the woman taking my order what they are most known for, and she suggested their shortbread cookie. Was tasteless, as boring and tasteless as the rugalah. What every baker knows: you can't just load up a sweet with butter and expect it to come out good. Shortbread was rich but tasteless. I searched for ''French' on Yelp, and thinking of a street in Paris named for a historical figure named Henri, I expected so much more. This is NOT a French place. Maybe I'd classify it as a diner for people who have never been out of the South before. Boring sweet treats, dirty seating area, dingy setting. Go to Whole Foods instead, where there's wi-fi, also, and some class. I guess people come here because its cheaper than Whole Foods? Weird.

Ive been eating at this place since it was a much smaller spot. They have the best sandwiches, I actually prefer the pre made ones. Turkey mayo mustard pickles on white bread- it's so simple. Nothing fancy in the slightest and I have days that I'd go out of my way to stop in and get one. Now having said that, I do make the excuse of the delicious sandwich with freshly shaved turkey meat to have a reason to browse the abundant selection of cookies, brownies, pastries, pies, cakes, strudels, and chocolate eclairs. My mom loves their shortbread cookies with assorted icing colors, I couldn't tell you if the colors had flavors or not but they're extremely popular. I enjoy the fruit pastries and blonde brownie! They also have an gooey chewy toffee pecan cookie that's out of this world! the spot is huge now from what it used to be, they have tables and a larger cafe bakery type menu with great selection and sides. The egg salad sandwich is also top notch, highly recommended it tastes like my grandmothers Mississippi recipe.. Only downside to this little gem is parking and the massive crowd during lunch hours. It may take a minute after you order but guarantee it'll be worth the wait !

BEWARE do not expect to get the type of cake you ordered. Called and ordered a cake and wanted to make a change the next day and there was no order placed. I came to pick up my cake and it was not decorated as i asked. When I talked to the manager he didn't seem to care at all and just said do you want the cake or not. I recommend not ordering from henris for a special occasion because they are unreliable and uncaring. Do not waste your money here.

The bakery (like baked goods) is fantastic. The baked goods are consistently chewy, which makes for good cookies. They also have free samples, so make sure you get one! The sandwiches are just okay. It's nothing that special; they lack in any imagination. $6-8 will get you just the sandwich, and then you can add on chips, drinks, and desert if you choose. Truthfully, Jimmy Johns can give you an equally good if not better sandwich.

Can get crowded, get there early, but I must say the glazed donuts and the chocolate praline coffee was so damn good I tried to go back the next day! But alas, it was a Sunday and they were closed. Next time I am going to try a poboy, and still have those donuts for dessert, judge me not!

Bomb dot com pastries. Cookies are addicting at like $1.29 a piece. Try the lemon coconut cookie and you will go banananannas. Berry danishes are $1.89. Didn't really look at other pastry prices, was too mesmerized by the free sample basket they had on the counter (every cookie I tried I bought---bye bye money). Tried their sandwich. French dip was aaaiiiight. Was only like $6.59. Tasted like a standard sandwich to me, not too big, not too small, juuuuust right. Must go back for COOKIES!!

When the ladies are shopping at Labels, this cat likes to pop over to Henri's for something NOT on my diet! Classic old school bakery... if I lived in Atlanta I'd gain back all the weight I lost last year. Such a treat!

As a 20 year fan of Henri's I have a lot to say about their sandwiches (yummy roast beef PO boy) which started as Saturday (single gal) hangover food and now is what I pick up on Saturdays to take home to my husband and kids after running errands! They are that good, and I think it is the bread. I also like their ready to go salads to offset the calorie intake of the cookies... Henri's makes some of the best cookies in all of Atlanta - my mouth waters just thinking about them - little shortbread ones or the one with toffee but my favorite - The "double doozie cookie" is a combination of Henri's trinity of sugar/pastry glory: (A.) two perfect chocolate chip cookies sandwiching... (B.) gorgeous Henri's buttercream frosting... (C.) generously dipped in chocolate. A mess to eat. But DIVINE to taste. I think they should patent it. Get a cappuccino to help wash it down (and your guilt about the calories). Their birthday cakes are so creative, I will try to post pictures later, always impresses when my in laws are visiting! They usually have several ready made in the case, if you don't order in advance. I picked up a sunflower cake for a November birthday - really gorgeous on the table and also delicious tasting. I have also used their catering for several parties. showers, baptisms, etc - finger sandwiches (delish pimento cheese and chicken salad are crowd pleasers), the famous melt in your mouth cheese straws of course and add classic petit fours, trendy macarons, or maybe - their Strawberry lemon sheet cake (everyone coming up at the party wanting to know where I got it) - and they deliver day of your party so all you have to do is set it out - fantastically convenient and easy for time strapped and hard working folks like us - their high levels of service plus their legendary food quality makes you successful.

I went to Henri's for the first time last weekend on 11/8/14. I was told by my girlfriend's co-worker that this is one of the best bakery's in Atlanta. I went to buy some gourmet pastries for my mom's birthday. The place looks really nice. It's got a great selection of cookies, and beautiful looking cakes. I bought slices of tiramisu, amaretto, black forest, chocolate rasberry tart, and a cannoli. The woman even gave me a "chocolate bomb" slice to try for free. I brought them to my parents house and we cut them all up and tried them all. Each one was NOT edible. Extremely stale. The frosting (icing) was really thick and the inside was really dry. It should be moist and the frosting should be light and fluffy. The cannoli was not with REAL cannoli filling but instead with the nasty frosting. The taste of the tiramisu did not even resemble tiramisu at ALL. I was so so disappointed. I called Henri's to complain and they gave me a $10.00 store credit. They said they stand by their product and would have to see the pastries to see if they were stale....how am I supposed to return pastries that were cut up and half eaten! Its hard to believe that they make their pastries fresh daily. I will definitely not be returning to Henri's for pastries. I recommend going to Alon's or my girlfriend says the place Piece of Cake is really good.

I'll never be going back here again, even though it came highly recommended. First off, I called in an order for a cake on Monday- which would be used at our Yule party on Saturday. I was very excited at their menu because when you click 'specialty cakes' the King's cake is right there at the top! I assumed that because it's called Henri's that it was a French bakery. This is important because I was looking for 'Galette de rois' (King's cake), which is a Northern French version of a cake used to celebrate Epiphany. There is a small favor within the cake, whomever gets the slice with the favor gets to be King for the day. There are seven or so different versions of this cake There is also a horribly tacky version of this cake used at Mardi Gras. Seriously, it's ugly. Not to mention the fact that it's no where NEAR Mardi Gras. I digress. I had a 20 minute conversation with the girl who took the order on my phone about the cake I DID want. She said it wouldn't be a problem. Made sure to mention several times that I did not want the Mardi Gras one. Check, you got it. Everything good, right? I schedule to pick it up right before the party. Maybe this was a noob mistake on my part, but I get there and someone brings me my cake. I start yammering about how happy I am and he tentatively goes '... you know, Mardi Gras is a long ways away?' Yes. They made me the Mardi Gras version. Complete with ugly colors and Mask on top. I'm sure you could've seen that coming, even though I explicitly told them not that one. Hell, if I hadn't been assured that it could be made, I would've ordered from somewhere else (albeit more expensive). After some back and forth about trying to find out what could be done, Jean-from-the-back (who I never saw), indicates this problem cannot be fixed. I left without the cake. Great going, guys.

The smoked turned and provolone on an onion roll is amazing!!!! The only thing I do not like is that lettuce and tomato have an additional charge.... It's a deli right? LOL The catering trays are great. I love the cucumber sandwiches.

Stopped in to purchase baked goods since the sign said "bakery". What a let down. Henri's is more of a sandwich shop at best... No delicious smell, semolina loaves or French baguettes. Just a small selection of sad looking cookies, Danishes, donuts, etc. I purchased some donut holes, Danishes and their "Famous" $8.00 plantation loaf. Which upon slicing was not thoroughly cooked in the center! Nothing was tasty. It was like throwing my money away. Honestly, the Publix bakery has better quality baked goods at a much lower price. Maybe the sandwiches are the main attraction? I will not be returning. For baked goods, definitely skip this place.

I don't think my experience was like everyone else's. I ordered a birthday cake from here and after the first bite I wanted to wrap it up and take it back for a refund. I guess the first clue that it was going to SUCK was that it was only $29.99. Every other baker charges double for that, but then again you get what you pay for. Ordered was a Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Icing. Strawberry center. Received was a dry cake that depended on the Strawberry Glaze in order to not choke you. The ice was the only redeeming part of the cake and made it half way edible for the celebratory event. Luckily none of the guests noticed that the case was TILTED when the birthday boy was cutting into it................. This is not some place that I am going to order a cake from again.

Probably two years since I'd been to Henri's before today. But we wanted a quick lunch and some place out of our usual rotation and came up with this classic Buckhead spot. I've had a few sandwiches there over the years, all ok but not stellar, but I really enjoyed the pimento cheese on toasted white bread today. J thought his tuna salad was ok but a little too mayonnaise-y. They have Zaps, which is always a plus (the BBQ flavor goes well with pimento cheese!). The place was bustling as usual but we were in and out within an hour since we sat to chat, and we decided we must return to try the quite extensive-looking selection of breakfast items they have (served til 10:30). Glad Henri's has started doing hot sandwich selections, as I like my bread toasted pretty much no matter what's between the slices! Note: for the sandwiches, I'd give them a 3-4 but for those cookies, still a 5!

planned a birthday party in a week. A friend suggested this bakery and I am so glad. Thank you to Mrs. Judy for making my design come true. Mrs. Judy is the sweetest and nicest person I have never met....lol. She made conducting business by phone sooo easy!!!! such a joy

I called to ask if they could help with a wedding shower. Here is the conversation: Me: Hi, I'd like to discuss catering a wedding shower. Do I need an appointment? Her: a wedding shower? What at is it you want? Me: I'm thinking maybe a cupcake tower and maybe catering finger foods. Her: We don't do cupcake towers. Me: But I saw them on your website. What about just regular cupcakes? Her: you would have to get me a picture before I can tell you if we can make the cupcakes. We don't deliver food, so I'm not sure we can help with catering. Me: But your website says you cater. Can you please tell me about what you do, instead of what you don't do? Her: You'll need to look at the website. Although I'm not sure we have anything for a wedding shower. Me: Bye. I'm honestly not sure what just happened. She definitely didn't seem interested in my business, and she acted as though my phone call was a huge inconvenience. Very weird. Needless to say, I'm going elsewhere.

This is my go to spot for bridal shower petit fours & cheese straws. All of their sweets are delicious, and its an easy spot to grab a quick lunch. They do custom creations of all kinds - great Buckhead bakery!

  • Danielle G.

Buyer Beware. We ordered a custom cake that cost over $1,000. We went through a few rounds of revisions to ensure that we had the right cake. However, Henri's sent another design (Not the one that we ordered). I tried for over a week to get a hold of them but they never responded to emails. Finally, when I spoke with them, the bakery assumed no responsibility. The baker told me he sent the design that "He" thought looked best. However, it is not what we ordered. For custom cakes of value I suggest to try another bakery.

I've been here for lunch a couple times, and I always leave with a black-and-white cookie for my husband. He's from New York, and he says Henri's black-and-whites are the closest thing he's found in Atlanta to a NY one. There are tiny little pastries, and giant cupcakes, so no matter if you want a little dessert or a lot, they have it all. The bakery is stellar, there are so many goodies to choose from, including french cheesecake and elephant ears. One of my FAVORITE items is the milkshake. It's made with real ice cream! The coffee is pretty good too, and they have a variety of espressos, and cappuccinos. I love the sandwiches, especially if they still have croissants to serve them on by the time I get there. They also have a case of pre-made food that you can grab and go-sandwiches, salads, soups, quiches, a single slice of cake, various potato and pasta salad and pimento cheese spread. The service is great, but the indoor seating is fairly small and cramped. They do have a patio that 's nice, and in the winter they enclose it have heaters going. Parking can be tricky during peak lunch hour, so I always go a little early or after 1:00 to avoid the headache.

  • Smita S.

Great lunch time spot! However, parking can get a little tricky between 12-1 pm on weekdays because it's so busy! The first time I came to this deli, I had a curry chicken sandwich on wheat. Didn't like it at all- the chicken didn't have much flavor and it was dry. Ever since then, I didn't care to go back. I was told by many to give it another try, so went today for lunch. Had a turkey sandwich today, which was good. The bread and ingredients were fresh. If you want a simple sandwich, this is your spot. Liked sitting on the patio. The bakery looked great! Having the sweet tooth that I do, I'm even surprised that I didn't even try a cookie on either trip (I was trying to be good). I will be back for sweet treat soon..

I miss living across the street from Henri's. Back in the day, when Kevin P. and I were chilling in our loft overlooking Roswell Road, we frequented this place because the food is always a hit. Henri's knows how to make a delicious lunch be it soup, salad, pasta or sandwich. All the desserts are fabulous too! Now, I've got a house on the line between Sandy Springs and Buckhead which means I have Henri's locations equi-distance from my home: this one up Roswell on Irby and a satellite location north on Roswell Road next to my Trader Joe's. Thank you, Henri, for always giving me a decent sandwich no matter where I live in North Atlanta!

Simple food. That's what this place does, and it does it fairly well. Popped in for lunch. Got the salami and cheese on white. And that's what it was... Salami, cheese and mayo on white bread wrapped in wax paper. The ol' lady got tuna salad on an onion roll. Again very simple stuff, but the tuna salad tasted good. For dessert, she had a black and white cookie and I had a couple macaroons. Both were tasty. This place is very busy at lunch, but the wait wasn't too bad. Also parking is a bit of a disaster. Not bad overall, but don't expect your socks to be blown off.

  • Mick D.

Yes. Two stars. And I really *like* the food. But my two-star rating is pretty straightforward. Henri's is very much out of the way for me, no matter what I tend to be doing in town. I don't often find myself in the area. (No, I'm not penalizing Henri's for being out of the way.) When I do get to stop by, I'd like to be able to buy my food, sit down, and log-on for a while to get some work done. But Henri's doesn't have wi-fi. At least, not for their customers. There is wi-fi, but owner doesn't share the password with anyone. Employees, trying to salvage the sale of a donut or two, try to direct you to hijack someone else's wi-fi signal, which, of course, doesn't work. By the time you figure that out, you've bought your stuff, only to discover that you have to go somewhere else to be at all productive. The sad part is, all they had to do was mask the network. But even without such technical skills, I can't imagine that providing customers with a wi-fi signal would be such a bad thing. Certainly it would be better than fooling me into making a purchase before I find out I'm wasting my time.

Love those pastries. Apple fritter, cup cakes, donuts etc...... A very good turkey po-boy. The best tuna fish in town. Ham and cheese on a onion roll is really great. They can make a great birthday cake, better than those grocery store cakes. Very busy at lunch time.

I love Henri's, it's a true bakery with the added kick of a sandwich shop. They stock NYC macaroons (one of the few things they don't make) and have an awesome selection of fresh made goodies. The pimento cheese is spot on and look forward to returning and trying the chicken salad and Waldorf salad.

A good ol' family favorite! Henri's has the best sandwiches! I always get what I call the classic. Turkey, mayo, and pickles on white bread. In addition I have always gotten the cream soda and Zapps chips. Em Em good! Makes my mouth water just thinking about it! You can have them make a custom sandwich for you too. There pastries are so-so, but they sure do know how to bake cookies! It's always fun to see what trinkets they have to buy as well for parties n' such. The staff is the same as it has been since I was little and they are great people! Still showing a smile no matter how busy they are! I highly recommend this location vs. the others. They have one in Roswell/Sandy Springs as well which is fantastic!

Their bakery case invites over-indulgence. The rugula is exceptional, and is available in assorted flavors, though chocolate and cinnamon are the best, and only $.95 each. The quality of the cookies is however only average.

When I was in high school, we would always stop at the Henri's in Sandy Springs as a reward for being good girls and getting uniforms for the next year. It's probably been since my senior year of high school that I've set foot in an Henri's. Now I have to start counting again because my dad and I had lunch here today. I decided on the turkey with mustard on an onion roll after much debate. If I have one critique, it's that they don't appear to offer cheese on any of the pre made sandwiches. What is a sandwich without cheese? It was still tasty and was big enough to eat half and lunch and then the other half for a snack. I also grabbed a cupcake for dessert. It was a tad on the dry side, but still pretty tasty. I think Tin Lizzy's ridiciulously moist cupcakes have me spoiled. Or perhaps their cookies are their strong point and I simply chose poorly. I'd definitely come back for lunch if I'm in the neighborhood.

UPDATE!!! Henri's did my birthday cake this year and totally NAILED IT! The buttercreme icing was just as I'd remembered it so many years before my negative experience, but that wasn't the half of it! The cake was so moist and flavorful-with that hint of lemon that only Henri's can deliver. On top of all that, they nailed the design-the mascot of my alma mater- NC A&T State University-with a spot-on rendering of the Aggie bulldog. The cake was decorated so skillfully that I felt bad for cutting it, and regret sharing it with my co-workers (I wanted to keep all that goodness to myself!)

First off, this is a review on the deli, not the bakery. I was so disappointed with this place!! I got a ham sandwich on french bread, and I expected a lot more than what I got... huge, Americanized french bread, wayyy too much ham, very wilted lettuce, and worst of all, a couple slices of what I think was kraft singles (the processed individually wrapped cheese). The name made me think this place was going to be a little more authentic french! At least give me real cheese! I don't think I'll be back :( Still looking for a good sandwich place..

I went to Henri's Bakery with my younger brother for lunch while he was in town visiting. Believe it or not I had NO idea this place existed until just recently. Not, I've been missing out. Great place to meet a friend for lynch in Buckhead that's classy but on the cheap. Definitely plan to return.

Henri's has some of the friendliest staff of any establishment you'll ever come across. They have delicious cakes and cookies - heaven for a sweet tooth! It's worth mentioning that I'm a cookie connoisseur, and the people rating Henri's baked goods as anything less than "excellent" need to have their cookie reviewing license revoked.

Last month, I ordered a birthday cake for my Fiance's birthday. It was a sneaker. For all those who care to know the specifics, a Jordan 11 cake. I sent a email with a picture of the actual shoe and actual cake I saw. When the lady called, I asked if they needed me to bring in the shoe so they would be able to get the details right, the lady said it wasn't necessary. She told me the price and three days before the cake deadline, I get a call that they messed up my quote and wanted me to pay $50 more. When I went to go pick up the cake, they gave me a cake I could have easily made myself and advised me that the cake they were presenting looked JUST LIKE the picture I had sent in. The fondant was cracking and they had added the number "23" to the cake. The 2 looked like a 1 and was basically sliding off the cake. A worker named Diamond was superbly rude and confrontational. She attempted to make herself relevant in the conversation that she had no business being in. I waited until the next business day, since this happened on a Saturday,to call the manager. Apparently, I spoke with the owner and she too informed me the cake looked just like the picture and was rude. It took me 2 weeks and 3 additional calls for them to process a refund. I will NEVER do business with Henri's again because their level of customer service is poor and instead of them admitting wrong, they were so headstrong about the situation. One thing I will say is Burt, I think is a manager is pretty nice and FINALLY helped get the situation resolved. Other than that, Henri's Bakery can fall off.

This is the best bakery/deli in Atlanta. It has been around forever, and for good reason! All of the large selection of desserts are fabulous! I have been eating their turkey sandwiches since I was a kid!

Charming little bakery in Buckhead. It's slammed right by a bunch of bars so you have actually walked by it before. Sandwiches are good and are an alternatively good price compared to other places in Buckhead. Just remember that if you ask for a turkey sandwich on wheat, that is what you are getting and will pay $7 for it. Try a daily special and french bread baked daily! Lastly, you will kill for a lemon coconut cookie! To die for!

I know that Henri's Bakery offer more than pastry(they also have cookies, sandwiches, soup, salad and bread) but this review is base on the pastry alone. After 90 minutes of Power Yoga I suddenly crave sweet so I went on to Yelp to see what's around Pharr and Peachtree area...since the reviews for Henri's Bakery was relitively good I decided to try it out. The folowwing is the list of what I bought. Strawberry wedge- 2 layers of sponge cake with strawberry filling top with whipped cream, half of a strawberry and white chocolate flakes Italiano-2 layers Italiano cream cake with a creme that taste very similar to cream-cheese frosting top with a layer of whipped cream Creme brûlée Mini carrot cup cake Banana creme tart- banana pudding filled pastry shell top with whipped cream and white chocolate flakes. All of their pastry are OK nothing that I can't make in my own kitchen....I definitely did not get the "WOW...this is so amazing that I will stop my NO SWEET, CARB FREE DIET"...It was disappointing because I did not fulfill my sweet craving. I will come back to try their cookies and other items since my fellow Yelpers think this place is awesome.

Driver from the airport to hotel in Buckhead told me they had the best sandwiches in Atlanta. Not sure about that, but the spicey Mexican I had was indeed excellent. Prices were good and so was the service.

I had some of the slowest and worst service when I went in to buy some treats. The cookies were gritty with sugar that was mixed in but not properly and they were really the blandest chocolate chip, butterscotch and heath cookies ever. Maybe they use margarine or something. I dunno - but it tasted blah. The lemon tart was okay - but the meringue /whip cream was gross and tastes like crisco. It leaves that nasty slime in the roof of your mouth that everyone hates... The woman that served me was the most disenchanted and slow females ever. She was snippy and flaky and would ask me to repeat my order and then say "I go t it -- I got it" and then have to make me repeat it again. I should have given up (the way I could see she had given up as I watch her crushing the elephant ear she shoved in the bag) and walked out before I spent $23 for goodies I didn't like and she didn't seem to like to serve me either. Overall I will not return. In the future I will assume that if the person serving me has terrible body language - I will assume the food will likely suck too.

I am a cookie-addict - I consider myself the female human embodiment of the beloved "Sesame Street Cookie Monster." I have to say - The shortbread cookies here are amazing! My suggestion for optimal consumption - eat all the cookie around the icing middle first, leaving the sweet and sugary center for last! As cookie monster would say - "mhmm, mhmm, mhmm!"

I know, heresy - three stars? I've been going here since I was a little kid; always to the bakery. Yesterday, I had a quick meeting after a meeting with a vendor. We convened at the Henri's in Buckhead. Getting some lattes and coffee, we sat outside in the cold and wind (kind of covered patio). To accompany the drinks, we also got sandwiches. Mine was a chicken chipotle on a roll - it was kind of insipid and flavorless (though it looked beautiful). Net net, the venue worked, the drinks were okay, but the food wasn't up to their standard (yes, I know the roast beef rocks - I was trying to practice girth control).

This is one of these Atlanta institutions, the preppy set have been brought up and told this place is amazing. The food is ok/average, and the atmosphere is terrible. Literally patio furniture, indoors, fantastic. The baked goods are better than the food/food, but not by much. I do not get the hype at all on this one. You can buy better baked goods elsewhere and you can certainly find a better sand which, its just kind of average. 3 stars for lasting 80 years, otherwise it would be a 2....but I'd like to think at some point maybe 30 years ago they would have been a 4.

The cakes here are either a hit or miss. Last week, I had the pleasure of trying two birthday cakes from Henri's: the Black Forest cake and the (family size) fruit tart. Both were excellent, moist, and fresh. I'm a fan of those two.

Let me get this off my chest: Amazing pastries, pies, and other delights; from holiday options to sweets for dogs. I adore their selection, but also their "mom and pop" style. I recommend taking their food to go because the ratio of pastry shop-lunch seating is about 70/30. They have a large wall covered drinks, salads (like pasta & potato), pre-made sandwiches, and much more. I don't want to give too much away but... my favorite meal here is the ham sandwich on an onion roll. Lettuce, red onion, and go 'head on the pickles and mayo. Take a Dr. Brown's diet cream soda (my favorite deli-lunch drink) and maybe some cheese straws or mini shortbread cookies with colored frosting dollops. The staff here could be described as hospitable. Even though it's usually packed with people, they really try to get to know you. It's also nice to be able to see them bringing in fresh items, or watching them slice bread, meat etc. It's my "feel-good" spot. No pun intended

Best Po-Boy ever! Also, I really don't like to eat tuna fish, but I do love Henri's tuna on whole wheat. I could eat lunch there every day. If youl like Apple Turnovers, you need to try Henri's.

ehhhhhhhh... not so much When a carb junkie like me turns down cookies, you know there's a problem.......... I have lived/worked in buckhead for over 10 years and have always heard people rave about Henri's this and Henri's that. (you would think they served lobster and truffles on solid gold platters) So, imagine my disappointment when I actually went there and was completely un-impressed. The food is one-deminsional. There is nothing interesting or exciting about the look or flavor of anything there. Bland, bland, bland. The popularity of this place is largely due to so many Buckhead Bettys (and Bobbys) shopping and eating at the same places their parents, grandparents, friends tennis partners, golf partners, law partners, fraternity brothers, sorority sisters and and fellow Junior Leaguers go to. It's not so much that the food is good, it's that they're raised to believe that it's good. (If you drink the kool-aid long enough, you learn to like it.) I respect their longevity, but have never enjoyed their food. So, since I have no plans of joining the Stepford club, I'll save my oooh's and ahhh's for food that really deserves it. Three stars (why can't we give half stars) - because I've never contracted food poisoning from them.

Even though it's a bakery, I've always come here for lunch. And always for the same thing: a chicken salad sandwich on a croissant with provolone, tomato and lettuce. Usually I'll also pick up a bag of Zapp's chips and a Dr. Brown's black cherry soda, mostly because it's one of the few places where you can. Now Henri's does have other sandwiches--and several sound good--but the chicken salad has never let me down. Thus, it's the only one I've ever ordered. And at $7.30 for the way I build it, it's a little pricey, but worth every penny. I love how it's just a good, no-frills chicken salad. There are no nuts, no grapes and, most importantly, no dark meat. It tastes just like the chicken salad I ate growing up, which is probably why I like it so much. Of course, that's not the only way Henri's pushes my nostalgia button. It also reminds me of a bakery my Dad took my brother and I to as kids. It was about as old and had the same types of baked goods. I remember a good Sunday morning was Dad taking us to Wohlleb's, where we could grab some pastries and a carton of chocolate milk. While I don't hit Henri's for breakfast much, I will say I've enjoyed the fritters I've gotten here over the years. And I'm a sucker for their gingerbread men. Again, like with the chicken salad, Henri's makes them just the way I had them as a child. Theirs are very soft, have a strong ginger flavor and are dotted with raisins. I hate those hard, break-a-tooth gingerbread men and I was so glad to not find those here. Really, if you're looking for a sandwich or something sweet in Buckhead, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better place. Be warned though that Henri's gets packed at lunch and will run out of things quickly. Also, during the colder months, there's really no place to sit (unless you're lucky enough to grab one of the few tables in the adjacent coffeehouse). During the warmer months, however, there is a large patio with plenty of seating. Oh, one more thing: Henri's is old school. If for some reason you're expecting some haute bakery like Joli Kobe, this isn't it. But if you don't mind lunching with some ladies who lunch, give Henri's a try. Honestly, I can't even say that it's retro, because that would imply they're trying to be that way. I just think part of Henri's charm--from the building to the food to the clientele--is that it's remained virtually unchanged over the years. And to me, there's something appealing about that.

Lets get one thing straight. I don't like tuna fish sandwiches. However, I DO LOVE HENRI'S TUNA SANDWICHES! The po-boy s are great! If it was not so crowded every day at lunch time I would eat there more.

You gotta be kidding! Worst-Baguette-Ever! Clue #1 was when the counterguy didnt know what a baguette was. You mean French Bread? Yeah, call it what you want it was inedible. Sawdust. Awful. Threw it away.

Good chicken salad, fresh sandwich, but mostly this place rocks for great pastries. We picked up a few goodies and plan on returning for more in the near future. Service was ok. Help wasn't thrown our way immediately, but they had no trouble answering questions. Overall, this is another place I'll frequent.

Go here for sandwiches and the patio. This place is fast, sandwiches are made at the counter fresh, and sitting outdoors (there are covered areas) is a nice escape to get some reading in if you are stuck in Buckhead for lunch five days a week. like I am I like the casual, relaxed atmosphere that makes this a much better place to meet someone for coffee than Starbucks. I will admit that their salads do need to be rescued from the 1950s (horrid refrigerated iceberg lettuce monstrosities with not much else on them). I haven't tried the bakery, so I can't vouch for any of the sweets.

I will forever love Henri's. They have amazing custom cakes-just had one for my friend's birthday. I've also used their King cakes for Mardi Gras. I'll pick up something for lunch like their turkey sandwich or the calypso salad is my FAVORITE: greens, red onions, mandarin oranges, chicken, almonds...very good. They have fantastic traditional french desserts--elephant ears, creme brulees, and petit four. Henri's or Rhodes? Henri's hands down.

i've always liked Henri's, shux, I like all bakeries...but since I started working across the street from the main buckhead bakery, I'm growing to like Henri's even more. The staff is great, particularly the guys @ the coffee bar. The deli staff is effecient and quick. Henri's has a great selection of sandwiches, from the basics (turkey) to the less common (salmon salad, scarlett roast beef). BUT, the reason we keep coming back are the treats. Love the St Tropez, the Black and White and jelly-filled donut, as well as the lemon cookies. Good coffe bar too.

Oh Henri! Where were you when I actually lived here? Why oh why did it take me so long to find you? When I think of all the time I lived in Atlanta and didn't visit you once, I get angry and full of regret, both of which could be cured by your baked good, but alas I'm now halfway across the country. I discovered you on my last trip home and I was so happy to meet your acquaintence. You were like my hometown bakery, but even better. I bought about 10.00 bucks of pastries for me and my honey and we were both so happy but even more impressive was your homemade biscuit. My god, it almost makes me want to move back here. I can't wait to see you again!

I remember Henri's from my childhood as eclairs and po'boy sandwiches. I know there is more to this place though cause I also distinctly remember that my parents used to say that their wedding cake came from here.

So apparently I'm the dumbest person on the block having never heard of Henri's until I did a Google search for "Great Bakeries in Atlanta, GA." They did a last minute cake for my daughter's first birthday and did a fantastic job. The icing was perfect as I like it - not that b.s. you get at the local Kroger/Publix/Hobo on the corner. Can't comment on anything else but I have every intention of trying the deli in the near future. Would recommend - the prices are right in line for what I expected.

With my pending trip to the ATL this weekend, I feel compelled to write a review of Henri's. I think I've been going to Henri's my entire life. My parents loved, loved, loved Henri's and because of that, it's always in my brother's and my repertoire of lunch places in the ATL. My favorite sandwich in the world probably is the ham and swiss on onion roll. I attempt to eat this at home but it's just never as good. Like Chip D. I don't get what makes them so good since they're pretty much the same thing mom mad. Maybe it's the white waxed paper they wrap them in? As for the cookies, well, the macaron of course! Not the icky coconut kind, but the old fashioned French kind. Yeah, I know where I'm having lunch when I get in tomorrow...

Old school bakery plus. Not just cookies and cupcakes here, Henri's delves into lunchtime fare too. Henri's No. 1 is off a side road in Buckhead, and there's also another location in Sandy Springs. An incredible variety of cookies, pastries, donuts, any confectionery that you'd imagine lies beneath the shiny glass, beckoning you to take them home. There's also a very gift-able array of 'specialty cookies' in cool shapes, holiday and otherwise. This is also a good place to stop if you're in need of a host/hostess gift. Or if you need to be a host/ess yourself, you can always throw down with a giant tray of tea sandwiches or veggies. And you might as well pick up lunch for yourself while you're there. And take a book or friend with you to kickit on the patio like Larissa G mentions.

I go here all the time to grab a sandwich on my lunch break. It is fast, convenient, and the sandwiches are awesome! I would give it 5 stars except I think it's slightly overpriced for what it actually is and the parking is a nightmare!

Oh man. Turkey sandwich on an onion roll with a big Diet Coke and 2 shortbread cookies as a dessert. THAT is what Atlanta is all about. Whenever I come home, a trip to Henri's is a must. The bakery, the deli... it's all good. My mom has ordered cakes, cookies, and petit-fours from them for parties, but I can't leave without getting a sammich. The service is very friendly and quick and I love to eat out on their patio. Their location in Sandy Springs is smaller, but just as tasty!

I can honestly say that I've never actually had anything from the bakery side of Henri's. However every time I walk in there the smell of their sweets makes my mouth water. I've only ever had their salads and sandwiches and both are great! This is one of my usual places to go for lunch during the week...not only is it a two minute drive from my office but you can get in and out of there pretty quickly. They make your sandwiches to order and It sort of reminds me of sandwiches like you'd make at home but with more meat and delicious bread! I always get the turkey sandwich on wheat with spicy mustard, lettuce, pickles and tomato. I know that sound super simple but it's great and one half with a small bag of chips will fill me up. Also, the chicken salad is awesome...especially if eaten on a croissant. The seating on the inside is minimal, but there is a cute garden style patio for nicer weather. Parking is not so great, but during the lunch rush there is always someone there directing traffic, which is very helpful.

So on a wonderful Tuesday afternoon, my boy and I decided to go try this Henri's Bakery with all these great reviews. Upon entering the shop, the layout was pretty standard, like Alon's over in Decatur. When we looked up, the meticulously written chalkboard menu welcomed us to the odd charge for lettuce on a sandwich. We've never heard of such thing, but quickly scoffed the oddity and approached the pastries instead. There was quite a variety to choose from, each looking more delicious than the next. We picked the Mocha Square, Chocolate Truffle Cake and Key Lime Tart. They were neatly packed into a box and we grabbed two milks (Mayfields Chocolate and 2%) on our way to the register and we sat to eat.... When we gently sliced the pastries with the plastic forks provided, we found our forks literally stuck in some of them...excusing the rigid pastries, we began to devour the delicacies before us. As the pastries entered our mouths, we looked weirdly at each other. Taking another bite to make sure we were tasting what we were tasting, we did not hesitate to try all three... We then promptly tossed what was left into the trash... He thought it was a complete waste of time, money, and his snobbish stomach. I was sorely disappointed. 1 star for the Mayfield's milk, 1 star for the nicely written chalkboard menu. Publix has better tasting birthday cakes and you can get a whole cake for the same price =\...

Um, why did I live in Atlanta for 8 months before visiting this place?? My friend Matt G. (if he ever joins Yelp) told me about a million times "You MUST try Henri's. They have the most FABULOUS french pastries." Suffice it to say I should have listened and gone immediately! I got a smoked turkey sandwich on a croissant with lettuce and swiss. That particular sandwich is serious comfort food to me. It was my absolute favorite sandwich growing up, so I'm pretty persnickety when it comes to my beloved smoked turkey croissant. This was one of the best I've ever had. Soft, buttery croissant with slightly crispy edges; flavorful, but not over-salted turkey; a giant leaf of crisp, fresh lettuce. It was definitely on the pricey side, but I will pay 7 bucks anytime for a truly cravable deli sandwich! The dessert case is pretty much spectacular as well. Everything looks so yummy! I wanted to buy all of it, but settled for a cream cheese brownie for me and a caramel brownie to take home to Kyle. Both were decadent and delicious. I was also very impressed with the friendly customer service. It's really nice when everyone doesn't seem like they hate their life. Henri's made the daunting trip to Buckhead completely worth it, even the fender bender just chilling out in the middle of the intersection of Paces Ferry/Peachtree/Roswell. (Thanks Atlanta PD, no need to get that out of the way or anything!!)

Henris Bakery is an Atlanta tradition and has been in existence for the last 80 plus years. Since moving to St Simons Island this is one of the few things I miss about Atlanta. Every time we make I visit to the Big City I have to stop by and get my sandwich fix and then pack up some sandwiches in the cooler and bring them back to the Island. I even get friends from Atlanta that are coming to the Island to make a run for me. People come from miles around to enjoy what many generations have dubbed their special place. It is not unusual for parents or grandparents to bring in their family to enjoy our fresh baked goods and deli sandwiches and declare that they taste just as good as when they were kids. Customers can go to either location where on occasion you might meet the governor, former and current politicians, professional athletes, entertainers, friends and neighbors alike. All of their bread is freshly and and their onion roll is to die for. My favorite sandwiches are the roast beef on onion roll and the roast beef po-boy. They also serve breakfast and the special coffee give Starbucks a run for their money.

This was such a disappointment. I was expecting the "old Atlanta" institution with the quality and the care. The people that work there are exceptionally nice, I will say that. However, I think this place is living off its former glory. I can't help but believe this has changed hands a few times (no proof) since its heyday. Like others have mentioned, you can find better baked goods in your local grocery store without the excess prices. The sandwich, I don't know how they call this homemade(?), but I've had better at Panera or Atlanta Bread. If you want a real bakery, I would try Matty Cakes (no, I don't work for them).

Henri's Bakery & Cafe has yummy pastries, desserts, cakes, deli sandwiches, salads and assorted coffee. Over the past year several people urged me to go to Henri's but time got the best of me. Well Henri's I've arrived and I'm very impressed. It was a Monday afternoon when I went for the first time and the parking lot was full. Cars were pouring out into the street of the almost 30 car parking lot so I knew I was in for a treat. Once I After parking down the street, once I got inside I realized Henri's had a bakery, deli, coffee bar and breakfast area. All of these areas are accompanied by lines of patrons trying to soothe their palettes. I was one of them and I had a caramel brownie, chocolate covered petit fours and cookies. They were all really good. Contrasting to other local bakeries I've been to, Henri's has baklava, cannoli's, tortes, tarts and other French pastries. The chocolate raspberry tart and chocolate mousse had five star restaurant quality presentation. They appeared so tasty and were less than three dollars each. As a result I'll be trying them both on my next visit. Prices are reasonable and this is a true bakery. Whether it's a bagel and latte, macaroni salad, cake, cupcake or pie, its worth circling the parking lot or parking down the street to experience Henri's Bakery & Cafe. The bakery has a location in Buckhead and Sandy Springs. If you want to sit out on the patio or dine in, then go to Buckhead because it is more like a cafe. Go to herisbakery.com for delectable delights and pricing.

The food is decent but they nickel and dime you. I have never been anywhere that charges 15 cents extra for lettace and other normal sandwich toppings. Just raise the entire price- don't cheap out like that.

I live near the one in Buckhead, and work near the one in Sandy Springs. I've been going to both for years, and have never had a bad experience. I was the best man at a wedding last September and stopped by on the way to the groom's apartment (where EVERYONE was getting ready) and picked up a box of pastries and some sandwiches cut in half so that people could have a little something before the 1:00 ceremony. It saved the day! Everyone in the wedding party, who were running around from 7:00 that morning, were happy and sufficiently well-fed to not pass out or pig out at the reception. Some of the sandwiches made it into the happy couple's luggage since they didn't have time for dinner. I got a grateful text message the next morning. Everything at Henri's is fresh and tasty and delicious. Well, I didn't like the creme horns, but that's because I don't like creme horns and I was hoping that theirs would be the one true Grail and change my mind. It was the best I'd ever had, but I'll stick with the cinammon rolls.

Ok I am a Buckhead native; so I am partial to this place. I grew up eating po-boys at every Falcons game and Elephant ears at the holidays................................. I had to laugh at some of the reviews that whine about having to sit on the patio to eat.............. Feel lucky, This place was just take out for most of its life. I also found it funny that people would go into Henris and order Salmon or a south western anything........ ITS A BAKERY. with basic sandwiches and sweet doughy baked goods................. The things they are known for ? The Po-Boy, the shortbread dot cookies, The chocolate eclairs, and the fact that its just about the best white bread you can get on a sandwich.......... If you are looking for a smoked, poached, or seared anything,...... Not the place for you, Want a yeasty chocolate covered donut that is so big you feel extra guily eating it ????? Run dont walk.........did I mention the Jelly filled ? OK, like I said I am a native, so I like the place..............When i describe it to newbies I say it like this. A french bakery with american upbringing southern style....Sort of like Ameri-mex food; you dont order goat at the place............... Jaliscos, Here I come.

My grandmother's shop used to be right down the street from Henri's. It was the highlight of my weekend. The po boys are amazing and the baked goods are delicious. from what i understand this place has been serving good cakes and pastries to atlanta for ages. i always wanna try this place but never had a chance until now... they have a lot of pastries to choose from..and a similarly good selection of sandwiches as well... my egg sandwich on the onion roll is a delight... you must try their onion roll... and it's nice being able to have breakfast or lunch out on the covered patio. im not a big fan of frosting and my slice of blackforest cake was heavily frosted on all three sides plus the top... but i bet this is great for kids or people who like frosting like my former boss.. the food here is top notch... great place to grab a quick bite or satisfy your sweet tooth...

I think the buckhead location may be better. I onced got a bunch of baked goods from the Sandy springs location. it was horrible and I had to throw them all out. they tasted frozen. So maybe they brought them from the buckhead location. I later had a cupcake from the buckhead store and it tasted okay.

My friends and I grabbed coffee here one afternoon. I was strong willed enough to pass up the pastries (though they looked tantalizing), but had a delicious Mocha Chill. My friend had a chocolate almond milkshake, which I was jealous of. Who knew a coffee shop which have such good milkshakes? This little cafe is refreshing and in a good location, I definitely recommend it if you are shopping in the area or want to meet up with a friend. Deelicious.

Time travel with me back to 1972. Welcome to Henri's. One part bakery, with Crisco laden cookies and cakes, and treats. One part deli. Simple sliced cold cuts, on fresh rolls all wraped and ready to go. The onion rolls are the best. This is simple throw back sandwich fare for the masses. Sundried pesto mayonaise, asiago cheese focaccia, and field greens be damned! You won't find that new millenium stuff here, instead you get ice berg lettuce, Kraft mayo or yellow mustard, and a pickle slice.

Henri's used to be one of my go-to places for a quick sandwich that wouldn't break the bank. Henri's has great sandwiches with plenty of them pre-made and wrapped in white butcher's paper so you can run in and get some food and be back on your way quickly. If you're feeling like a little more, grab one of the many desserts and you won't be sorry. I've sworn off the eclairs, more for the overall impact on my waistline than for a reflection on their quality. I still miss them though...

  • Chuck D.

I don't really understand why these sandwiches are so good. It's kind of like your mom's sandwiches; you can duplicate the ingredients at home, but the end product doesn't come close to the real thing. I go straight for the pre-made cooler and bypass the custom-made counter entirely. I've never grabbed one that left me wanting. Ever. Maybe it's their simplicity--some mayo, a little mustard, really fresh deli meat and baked-on-premises bread--but whatever it is, I hope they keep doing it for years and years to come. Oh, did I forget the pickle? Always the exact right amount of pickle. I usually grab one to eat right away and an extra for "later," which somehow invariably gets eaten at about 2 in the morning, when I rise like a zombie and lurch to the refrigerator chanting "Sammich." Best sandwiches in Atlanta, or at least the ones I crave the most often. The location on Roswell Road is equally splendid.

If you haven't eaten here, you don't know what you're missing. Turkey Po-boy? The best. Chocolate eclairs? You won't find anything better. And if you're a chocolate lover, give the Chocolate Bomb a try. Just don't try to eat more than one...

My in-laws have being going to Henri's FOREVER! My wedding cake was from here (egg white, lemon curd, toffee, with Euro buttercream) as well as our favors. So. GOOD. A very feel-good business. No doubt about it. Anyone you know who's getting married in the Atlanta area has got to do Henri's!

  • Suzanne C.

Yikes-- their king cake was bad. Dry and with awful icing. So disappointed and it was $25! It was not worth $10. Also, ordered one online from Rouses in New Orleans for $30 and it was great; and of course ordered one from Randazzo's that was great but much more expensive $56. But, don't waste your time or money getting one from Henris!

I've been going to various Henri's since childhood trips to ATL. I love the place. I do agree that thirty years ago the pastries were better...that said, I am grateful that the sandwiches remain unchanged...especially the pre-made ones that your can pick up w/ turkey/roast beef, salami and a pickle

Been coming here my entire life... Nothing tastes or feels more like home. Most people do not realize that mom and pop shops are the backbone of America and that its in places like this that you'll find true passion for culinary perfection. Local shops don't get their food at low prices like a chain like a la madeleine's or paradise bakery. This place has character and It's a tiny piece of the history of Atlanta that's still beautiful today.

We decided to go to this bakery looking for some cookies on saturday evening to take to a dinner to my husband's boss' house they were about to close when we got there. the place was very clean but the staff was not the nicest. anyways the cookie selection was limited and they sell it by the piece, which for us is a little weird since we are used to to buy them by weight. anyways we decided to purchase some of their pastries we tried their tiramisu, the italiano, the cheesecake, a custard and some other that right now i don't remember. The pastries were average nothing out of this world. I guess thought it served its purpose but next time I will just go to publix.

Yum! If I am in Buckhead and Henri's is open, I am definitely stopping by! I am a sucker for those thumbprint cookies, even if they are a tad pricey. That just helps me practice moderation, right? The bakery staff is so helpful, too and very generous with samples. I never thought I liked petit fours until a woman in the bakery insisted I have a taste. I am still not sure that I like most petit fours, but I know I LOVE Henri's version. I haven't tried the sandwiches yet, but there is always a long line, so I imagine they are good. For now, I am just enjoying a chai latte and a delicious sweet treat. ***On my most recent visit, I saw the sweetest birthday party on the patio for a little girl. All of the girls had on chef's hats and were busy decorating gourmet cookies. Adorable.

Almost a 3 star, but... I was so excited to try Henri's. I've been 3 times just to make sure but it's just ok. The tasty frostings and fillings don't hide the dry, lackluster cakes and pastries. Publix baked goods are better, thus the 2 star rating. The workers are hit and miss in terms of friendliness too. Based on other reviews, it sounds like this is a much better bet for lunch options than bakery goods...

A good neighborhood bakery in the heart of Buckhead. Not distinctive compared with places like Alon's but pretty good and reasonably priced. What I liked: 1) Their sandwiches are very good. I really like the True Mexican panini. Ingredients are also fresh and high quality. 2) The cakes are also very good. 3) Quick service for a place which makes hot sandwiches to order. What they could improve: 1) For a large bakery the selection is fairly limited. For example they make po-boys but no Shrimp po-boy. The cake and dessert selection is also smaller than at other places and they miss some of my favorite things (Black Forest gateau, eclairs, profiteroles, petite-fours) 2) The bread they use for the panini is not great. It's too flaky and dry after toasting. 3) The building has a weird smell about it. It smells like an old decaying building as opposed to fresh goods. Just a bit odd.

I ordered the small German chocolate cake and was very disappointed. The most expensive little cake I ever bought ... $30. The best part of German chocolate cake is the icing with pecans and coconut which was very skimpy on this one. It tasted like a chocolate sheet cake with chocolate icing. But it was pretty. I just went back to read the reviews "not recommended". Interestingly enough they are about their sub par cakes! Maybe poor reviews don't get posted.

I've been visiting Henri's for my entire life, 23 years. My Mom brought me here as a child, and her mother took her to Henri's when she was a kid, too. It's THAT good. The sandwiches, shortbread cookies, and gluten free almond macarons are among my favorites but the best things in the building are the Mediterranean cookies. Seriously, out of this world good. I drive 40 minutes to Atlanta once a week for these cookies. Everything here is baked fresh, and it's apparent as soon as you taste anything they make. I cannot say enough good things about the food and the people at Henri's! There's a reason they've been around since 1927. :)

I've frequented Henri's over the past 7 years and have always been a fan of their lunches and baked goods. That is until this past weekend. I ordered a cheesecake from them for a small dinner party with friends. It was the only dessert at the party, and it was terrible. The cake part was lumpy and eggy and it tasted like they forgot to put in the sugar. The crust was mushy and flavorless. Not one person finished their slice, and we threw out the rest of the cheesecake because it was so bad. I called them today to tell them how bad it was. The bakery manager, Javier, called me back about 30 minutes later. He told me that he'd give me some cookies at my next visit. However since I didn't save any of the cheesecake, he couldn't refund the $40 I spent or offer a replacement of equal value. I definitely won't be ordering from them again, and I doubt I'll even go back for the cookies.

Don't believe the hype. Almost $8 sandwich that's like the size of a large slider. #THEREALMEXICAN They didn't have anything I wanted. I really felt like the lady didn't know what was on sandwiches so she just told me they didn't have it. Why does a bakery have pre-made sandwiches? The refrigerator wasn't working. The sandwiches were too small and flimsy for their price. My husband and I spend $22 for 2 sandwiches, 2 drinks, and 2 bags of chips. RIDICULOUS!! Especially when you finish and are still hungry. I'm good on Henris.

How can the fanciest zip code in the south have a totally average Deli? Henri's is fine in any category--pretty good pastrami, pretty good pimento cheese, salads and po boys--but it's the foodie paradise neighborhood that makes it pale by comparison. It's plenty OK, but for $10 in Buckhead that's a letdown.

This place gets BUSY which is good and bad. Good obviously because it shows how many people like it (I did too). Bad because the staff seems to get flustered, the parking situation is awful, and the herding of customers inside becomes chaotic during these busy times. Never had a bad lunch sandwich here and always yummy pastries.

Been a fan of the bakery for years! Their macaroons, cupcakes, fruit salad, heath bar crunch cookies, red velvet cupcakes are to die for! I love how they will special order (I have ordered mini items and logo cookies before!) and I can always just run in and get the bakers dozen. Anytime I bring them to someones house or work its gone in minutes. I love it there!!!!!!!!!

This place is steadily moving up the ladder as my go-to spot for a "healthier" lunch. Both times coming here I've gotten the Salami & Cheese sandwich. It's really hard seeing myself trying anything else, it's just that delicious! The sandwiches are generously stuffed, so every time my boyfriend and I plan to try at least one of their mouth-watering pastries after the lunch, we're already very full. The display cabinets in the bakery seem to cover a wide range of dessert delicacies. You have the option of sitting inside or outside, decorated with cute european-style cafe chairs and tables. Side note, they have their own specially made strawberry lemonade. Quite addicting.

After our recent trip to Paris, I've been on the search for the delicate, chocolate mousse filled eclairs that I enjoyed there. To date, I haven't found them (update: the eclairs of my dreams are OTP at Collet's Bakery in Alpharetta! So worth the drive!). I was super hopeful for Henri's to fill that void, but spoiler - they did not. We decided to venture over late Saturday afternoon, where we were initially met with complete parking lot chaos. We patiently waited and were awarded with a primo space; I don't know why folks were so hateful in the parking lot to one another. At any rate, we got inside and patiently waited for our turn in front of the pastry counter. This darling older gentleman was in front of me, and the cursive list he held in his hand was lengthy and brought me much amusement, so much so that I didn't mind the wait behind him. I decided to try the eclair, macarons (lemon, vanilla, and coffee), and the shortbread cookies, which looked just like my favorite cookie from my hometown that I enjoyed throughout my childhood. Eclair: tasted just like a chocolate covered doughnut with goo inside. Yummy if you like that sort of thing; absolutely heartbreaking if you're looking to replicate a Parisian eclair experience. Macarons: similarly disappointing; great texture, but lacking in sparkling flavor like the ones you'd enjoy in France. Thumbprints/shortbread cookies: OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG, tasted just like what I ate growing up! My heartbreak on the eclairs and macarons were quickly forgotten after biting into these cookies. 99 cents each, they are a thick, perfect shortbread with yummy hard frosting. The frosting-to-cookie ratio is absolute perfection. I will definitely come back to buy more of these - SO EXCITING!!!

One WORD .. Decadent, visiting Atlanta I asked the locals where to go for some desserts and they all said Henri's and boy was I glad I listened ! So many options all very inexpensive in comparison to"pastry costs" no line in the am I was in and out . Hot little spots that whenever I'm in Atlanta I will spot and indulge!

Why do people love this place? It's a mystery. My only guess is that its been there a long time, has a vintage neon sign, and is in a cool trendy area. The parking is strained although reasonable for Buckhead. Maybe the pastries / baked goods are really good, I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but as a deli its a pricey meh at best. The counter ladies are rude. I can understand a little sass as a cool brand, but they are just unhappy to be making your sandwich. And the sandwiches are different every time! Sometimes toasted means bread toasted, other times they press the whole sandwich including the lettuce! If you must go, go with the Club sandwich.

Have not tried there food yet- didn't look like anything fancy, but I ordered a carrot cake for a birthday the next day (shame on me) but they were able to do it and decorated it so it looked very cute! Big fan of the cream cheese icing-yum. I think this is a great little "neighborhood" bakery that is a go to for pastries, cookie, and cakes. Prices seemed reasonable on that front to me. Not a place I am jumping to do lunch at but I will most likely give it a try just to switch it up.

After getting my hair taken care of at nearby Van Michael Salon in Buckhead, I decided I would go searching for Henri's Bakery on foot. There was still snow on the sidewalks and streets from the Atlanta snowstorm of January 2014, so I had to be extremely careful as I exited Van Michael and headed in the direction of the North Face store. From that point, it was maybe a three-block stroll. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon, so I was more than happy to do it. (Why doesn't Atlanta have more sidewalks, dammit!!) I wasn't sure what the storefront was like and when I saw the old-school neon sign for the bakery, the idea of what a French bakery looked like clashed with what met my eyes. But I was in for a treat, ladies and gents! You can tell this place has been around for a long time, as soon as you walk in and notice that the place does have the same look as the new, trendy bakeries. Who cares about trendy when the food is good though. When I made my entrance, I wasn't sure where to head and almost started spinning around rapidly to get a view of everything at once. I didn't want to fall flat on my butt, so I refrained from carrying out the act. I was drawn to the pastries and cookies and marveled at all the treats that were on display. Someone immediately checked to see if I was ready to order, which I wasn't because I am such an indecisive weirdo. So I browsed carefully and decided that I would leave Henri's with one less pistachio macaron. I had to try one. I also glared at an eclair from the side and decided that I would snatch one of those bad boys too. A pair of shortbread cookies and I was ready! My choices were quickly boxed up and I took the box and acted like I knew where I was going. I looked at the cakes and noticed that there was also a deli counter, from which I am sure yummy sandwiches are served on their own artisan bread (I am surmising that they do this, as they are a bakery, after all). Registers are past the deli counter, in the dining room area. I paid with my card with no issues (I don't know if there is a minimum, but what I got was quite inexpensive). I sat down to give my eclair a try, especially since my belly was reprimanding for not having had lunch. The eclair was pretty good, but I admit that I have another place that I prefer a bit more. Later on I tried the shortbread cookies, which I did not end up finishing. I could recognize the quality but they also weren't my absolute favorite shortbread cookies. But that pistachio macaron. Lawd haf mercy! It was fantastic. I would say that it is one of the best, maybe tying with Douceur de France for me. I don't recall that it had the issue of being cold and needing to come to room temperature but I may be wrong. This is one thing that digs into my nerves here in Atlanta, as I was so spoiled when I made my way across the Atlantic Ocean to try these tiny vividly-colored confections in L'hexagone (France has this nickname due to its shape. Bam! You just learned something new!), where they are prepared fresh and can be consumed immediately upon purchase with no unpleasant surprise of biting into very firm buttercream. Macarons have become somewhat trendy and more and more dessert places in Atlanta are churning them out. This does not mean they are doing right by the little almond-meal cookie sandwiches. The pistachio macarons that I have tried are sorely lacking a rich but not overly sweet buttercream with the decadently light aroma of pistachio. This buttercream was close to what I remembered. It was not too much nor too little (this sin is committed at many places, with the Asian bakeries being notorious for not putting sufficient filling). I am looking forward to going back to satisfy this yearning for good macarons and try something else. I feel that it is likely that this rating could jump up another star with just one other good experience.
