Diabetics at Whataburger

Diabetics need to be a bit cautious while dining at Whataburger. However, you can always satisfy your cravings for a burger by choosing Whataburger Jr. or other non-burger items from the menu.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for Diabetics:

A diabetic should resist from ordering any extra meat-based burger such as Double Meat Whataburger or Triple Meat Whataburger to limit the sodium intake and calories. Most burgers except the Whataburger Jr. are high in sodium and hence should be avoided.

High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for High Cholesterol

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. Sweat & Spicy Bacon Burger will add extra 1080 calories in your diet so skip that as well. Whatacatch Dinner may sound tempting but the famous fish sandwich is also full of calories and unhealthy fat. Burkhart's Pub is well known for their spectacular drag queen shows and karaoke nights for gays and lesbians. Even though it is known to be a gay pub, there were many straight people there as well. This place has a very diverse, excited crowd that just wants to be entertained. I absolutely loved the drag shows, bartenders, and food. Everyone who worked at that pub made sure everyone was taken care of so there was not a wait to order anything. Overall this place was exciting, entertaining, and friendly. I cannot wait to tell others about this place!

I FINALLY made it (back) to to Burkhart's! I thought I'd never been, but as soon as my Uber turned into the lot, my memory raced back 15 years and it all came back to me. I digress. Oh what a night!!!!!!!!!!!! First. FOOD. Let me tell you. I don't know if they are really preparing this food on premises or running out to some 5 star spot on Peachtree to get it, but the FOOD was by FAR, one of the BEST meals I've had in a LONG time, and I eat out frequently. I had the filet mignon, baked potato, and side salad. Most delicious, PERFECTLY cooked steak in recentl memory, baked potato was so perfect that I didn't even have to salt it, and the side salad was divine (spring mix, and NOT some funky clunky iceberg hunks). My plate was CLEAN when I was done. My friend had a steak dinner too, and completely agreed with me. Delicious meal. We'd come here JUST to eat. *******Yelp Tip: if you want to eat, get there and eat before 10:30pm; everything changes at that point, and they will come by and try to collect your barstool (with you on it) around this time******** The drinks are CHEAP. That's nice. They aren't particularly strong, but the bartender we had was very cute and sweet, I think his name might have been Ben. He had a light beard. Hey, for $5 a drink, whaddya expect? They also work. Let's just say, I'm glad I Uber'd. The DJ and music were ok. He played "Car Wash" by Rose Royce early in the night, and I almost became "the show". Apparently, there are two shows. There's the first show earlier in the evening, like 10ish. That's the one I like! There was this Eminem/Sam Smith cutie pie rapper guy on the floor, JTyler, and he was AWESOME! No, REALLY. If you had no visual, and only vocals, you'd be impressed. He reminded me of Nikki Minaj. His lyrics were sick. He was nice, too. Called out to me in the parking lot as I was leaving. He ended up winning the competition (thanks in part to my yelling and screaming and hooting and hollering), so I felt like I was the ish when he recognized me. There are drag queens GALORE here, so if that's what you're looking for, you're in the right place. There were also two bridal party entourages in the house. Loved the MC. Her name was ( ). She was off the chain funny! You know, just natural humor. She did all of this with a broken toe, too. I didn't go to the bathroom (who goes to bar bathrooms?), so I can't attest to the cleanliness of it or lack thereof. Sorry. Just go, and have fun. I wore a t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers- on a Saturday night. No fuss, no muss. I'll be back!!!!!

Burkharts is a great place to hang out for gay guys and lesbians. As a lesbian, it's hard to find good bars/clubs to go to that have a good guy/girl ratio. Burkharts has a good mix of people and plenty of space to hang out. On busy nights, it can be difficult to find a spot to watch the drag show, especially if you're vertically challenged (I'm 5' 2"). Their one claim to fame is that one of the drag queens, Phoenix, was on RuPaul's Drag Race. You can always expect sassy one liners and crowd interaction. My friend was once squirted in the eye with a penis shaped water gun filled with vodka. There are 2 pool tables upstairs and in the back there are fire pits to hang out around if you want to escape the noise. Last time I was there they couldn't turn them on though because a girl caught her hair on fire (yikes!). The only downside is that there is only one women's restroom that always has a line (if there isn't a line, is it really a women's bathroom?).

I am very happy with my experience here. The fabulous patio bar is my favorite bar though! Thomas is a hard working, sexy, and very intelligent bartender! I remember when he was just door man and well he has worked and earned his way to bar. I do want to say it would be to yAlls advantage if YALL put Shawn up at bar 3 on mondays instead of a new face. It will bring more customers. I hope everyone gets a drink and has a chance to enjoy Thomas customer service and his damn good drinks! Keep it up everyone!

Nice surprise. Very friendly and fun bartender who also served us food. The food was so much better than I expected for an old school gay bar. Prices and drinks were great. Had a much better experience here than at some of the more sleek Gay Restaurant/ Bar options available in Midtown Atlanta. I'd definitely go back.

Had an awesome time with friends at the pub! Bartenders were great, music was good and we enjoyed the drag show. Can't wait to go back and hang!

Great atmosphere Thurs-Sat.. Amazing drinks. The music is awesome, the DJ does a very great job. The layout of the floor is different but if you're looking for a good time--- you won't regret going that's for sure.

I have been coming to Burkharts since I moved to Atlanta. It reminds me of a small joint in the small town I came from. I've built many memories there and it's always my go to spot!

Went to a bridal shower!!! The drinks and the bartender was awesome, but please eat 1st... The performers are great!!! Everyone was really welcoming and showed the bride so much love... I truly recommend this pub!!!

Wow! What fun! This is a place not to miss when wanting to go out and have a good time. Great drag show, cheap food and drink. New york steak special with two sides (sweet peas/onions, and mashed potatoes), $9.25 (where you going to find a deal like that?). No cover charge so get there early for seating or a nice spot on the second floor rail to see birds eye view of drag performers. Service was a little slow but it was a Saturday night (crowded) and the server apologized stating he had a large 15 person party which dominated a lot of his time. No worries! We got fed, hydrated (Jack and Coke $7) and even danced a bit! Parking is free in the lot but like seating you gotta get there early for closer parking. Oh there are two other cools bars nearby, Felix's and Oscar's so bar hopping is also an easy task (even in stiletto heels!)

  • Dewey H.

This bar is unsanitary and the owners are doing nothing to contain the clientele to behave. The restrooms are deplorable and this has been accepted by the community of patrons for YEARS. It's time to stand up , after millions of dollars contributed to this business MUST demand a healthy and sanitary place to gather. If that means charging a cover charge to keep the trash out, so be it.

    (1)
  • Harold W.

Drag shows start around 11 ish. This place gets packed later in the evening. Good date night place if you want someone to hit on your date while you are not he date or maybe you just we ant o show off your date. Several bartenders to go to. I like the one downstairs in the back smaller and more intimate plus there is no smoking in there. Nice.

    (4)
  • Kyle H.

Located in the armpit of Midtown you can find your fair share of Tina Queens, misguided youth, and sexually frustrated 40+ men. Everything about this place is great, but the clientele scares away more desirable customers. Also the the fact that people are doing blow in the women's room behind the bar is only contributing to the issues.

    (3)
  • Nicole G.

I recently played DD to some people who wanted to go here. Super packed on a Saturday night, but the bartenders were polite to us. The outdoor patio area was awesome and somewhere I'll have to hit up once it is warm out again. The parking lot was a bit of a nightmare. Try to ride a bike there if you can.

    (4)
  • Jonathan M.

Not necessarily into the gay bar scene too much, but the few times I have been here have been quite fun. The bartenders are great and hot of course lol, and the drag shows are always so entertaining, I absolutely enjoy them. It's better to come with friends than by yourself though at least you have somebody to talk to at all times. Its a nice place to visit occasionally if you are bored and have a drink or two, who knows maybe you'll make new friends at some point haha. Maybe I should try the food next time I go.

    (3)
  • Tom S.

First of all, I don't know what all the recent complaints about "the smoke" are about. The inside is smoke free but the outside patio is not. And the outside patio is horribly smokey. That's not to say that plenty of people don't walk in with a lit cigarette, because they definitely do but that seems to be more a problem during the drag shows or periods of extreme crowdedness. Is crowdedness a word? I dunno. Lets pretend it is. I've been coming here for 10+ years. I have always had a good time and met some nice people. Can't say the same for other places. The parking is relatively easy. The prices are good. And as long as you stay inside, you don't have to smell the smoke. (as of the date I'm writing this). Whoever is telling people to go to the patio to get away from the smoke is giving some bad information.

I always love going here for the shows and karaoke. The staff and management is the best!!!!!

Great place, went there on a Saturday and its was 1/2 off appetizers and $2.50 well drinks!!! Best deal intown. Will deff be back for more.

    (5)
  • J K.

The bartender in the back bar, Matthew/Matt has the personality of a wet/limp bar rag...not quite sure why he is a bartender...acts like he is totally not interested in his customers' satisfaction level...just in it for the money(tips). Hey Management....If you want to run a gay bar don't hire bartenders that have NO Personality and don't know how to provide good customer service to their gay clientele.

    (2)
  • Sam P.

Ok...here I go AGAIN! We hear Burkharts has extended their $2.50 and decided to make a night of it on Thursday. Got there around 8pm and hung out with my favorite bartender. We slung back a few too many vodka sodas...(we took uber) and had a BLAST. I never get tired of this place. Sue was very attentive. People were having fun and we waited for the show start. You know it's a hit when the straight girls show up in droves. Lol Right before the show, the crowd started to appear. We hung out upstairs and had a nice view of the performers. All the bartenders are awesome. Best prices in town....great vibe...a ton of fun....I'm hooked!!!

    (5)
  • Dart O.

This bar is wonderful, meet new and old friends. Very affordable drinks (right now they have $2.50 well drinks). Daily specials friendly staff and excellent bartenders. I have fun every time I come in. Not sure what the other guy was talking about. Each time I come in the ladies room is clean and stocked. Come by and see for yourself the place is fabulous!!! Love my bartender Sue. Come hang out with us.

  • Ty L.

My favorite bar in Atlanta. I have yet to eat here but I hear the food was good. I can speak to the bar. The drinks are great. This place also has one of the best drag shows around. Even though there is no official stage, the ladies that perform here show out every time I come. A lot of talent come thru Burkhart's. I just wish the bar did not allow smoking. Your clothes will come out very smokey after leaving here. A great place to grab a good drink with friends and watch an amazing show. They even have two showtimes to make sure everyone gets to see it. I just wish there was a little more diversity in the staff. For a bar located in Atlanta, I never see one black person working there. Imjs

    (5)
  • James W.

I was told that I had to get the fuck out of the bar and better not ever come back or would go to jail because they brought me out cold fish after I waited on it for 45 minutes. Even the people at the bar was shocked and I let them know I've been here before!!!! We were the only blacks sitting at the restaurant so I won't ever return and hope that Palmer the owner learns how to treat people. ......

  • William J.

I always have a complaint about service or quality to some degree at places I frequently visit, however, in the two years I've come to this pub so far, I've yet to be disappointed! Where else can you get better steaks and size portions for the price? Nowhere! I also love that it's very well set up and the patio is awesome! Now if that's not enough to convince you to try it maybe you'll love free parking and zero cover!!!

April 26th/27th - It's 2:55am in the morning. I just got back from Burkhart's. I feel like I need some oxygen, the show was so good I can't breathe. I'm all kinds of verklempt right now. I started going to Burkhart's to see Shavonna Brooks. I'd often attend w/her other superfans. I fell in love w/her IMMEDIATELY but kept a professional distance as I didn't want to crowd the space of her established fans. Then I met Evah Destruction...and my life completely changed. It was love at first sight. I began going to Burkhart's every Saturday when she joined the team. Grabbing my fellow Royalist (Drag Entertainers) superfan, sitting her at the bar to chat/other patrons, I'd head on over to the front where the shows take place and just perch there, lot$ (or as much as I could $pare) of love in hand. I feel $howing appreciation for the Royals' art is one of the most important things fans can do. We represent the artists as fans. I feel it essential to dress up/theme up, something to show your support. It's also nice to 'get dressed' so that as their entourage, we represent the Royalists in a good light. So going to Burkhart's is not just a night out, it's a ritual for me. It's something that I think about days or even weeks in advance. Tonight was one of THE BEST nights I've had there yet... clad in Japanese Loli of course. 1. The Bar Staff - greeted me with a warm and loving hello. I made sure to $how some appreciation. It is SO crucial to love the bar staff, they are 'taking care of you.' Glass on its last slurp, they are on it! I don't know what their names are (the staff during Synergy Saturdays) but I appreciate them for the kindness. 2. The Show - this is why I'm there. It's all about the Royals/Royalists/Queens/Drag Entertainers. They are more than 'entertainers' to me. They are LIVING LEGENDS. I fear many others don't even "get it." Pros: There are not enough words in any dictionary for me to express my love for Shawnna Brooks, Monica Van Pelt, Evah Destruction, Dynsty St. James, Nicole Paige Brooks #LoveNPB, Shavonna B Brooks and Raquell Lord. I leave there mesmerized and in complete awe of their art. They work their a**ses off at that show. I mean...they werrrrk! I'm always in awe! I broke my knee not long ago and found it hard to stand for a long time but I was not about to miss their show. I hobbled on over there and propped myself up against the wall and stayed as long as I could. The show is just that good. Shawnna, Dynsty and Evah...work that d*mn floor, they own that stage and one night I saw a woman just empty her purse at Shawnna's feet. I totally understand that sentiment. They deserve every piece of currency that comes their way. Monica, Nicole and Raquell in addition to those just named make me swoon. My friends and I talk about their stunning attire for days. Sometime we have to have a moment of silence because we are so overwhelmed by their presentations we can't even speak. They are another reason I haven't left ATL. I need this. I need to see them. Cons: ...the patrons. I hate to say it but too few have respect for this kind of art. Aloof patrons walk through the dance floor in the middle of performances, get so wasted drunk that they don't have respect for the space and often leave very little room for the Royals to do their show. Countless times, including just an hour ago, a whole group of non-tipping people just stood in front of me. I missed giving Evah her tips on the last set. I couldn't reach her though technically I was on the front row. A spot I came 1.5 hours for in advance and stood there so I could be in a good place to $how my $upport. I almost wish they had a stage area in the back and charged $5 entry and $10 VIP and then we can buy drinks and tip and swoon as much as we want. If they even did that once a month I'd be into it. Clearly this art is very important to me and I'm HIGHLY ATTRACTED to it. I'm grateful Burkhart's features so many AMAZING entertainers (they'll always be Royals to me, entertainers is a petty understatement). I love Shawnna Brooks, I love Monica Van Pelt, I rather worship Evah Destruction (that's a whole other story) and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to spend one day a week adoring them all in the same place. I wish Shavonna Brooks much success in Vegas and so much love to her for the love she's shown to us. May they all be well taken care of. Please know that no matter what aloof brat bobbles their way into a set, their loyal, loving fans are somewhere in that mix swooning and drooling, hands reaching out to support them. Thank you so much! Superfan A.

So I went here for the first time with some friends for drinks/eats, I believe on either a Tuesday or Wednesday night. FOOD/BAR The food here is delicious! Well as far as the burgers goes, it was mmm mmm good. You really get a big portion for what you pay. Pricing is cheap/decent I'd say. They have a full bar, if I recall correctly, 2 downstairs and 1 upstairs. bottoms up? The bartender/server I had was super friendly. So Karaoke/Drag night was going on and it was too much fun! Although I didn't participate, it was enjoyable watching the prospective contestants to audition for American Idol or The Voice. Great place!

I simply love this place. You gotta see Eva Distraction on Thursday night's. She is the best!!! Bartenders are awesome. Prices are very reasonable. Beautiful patio and not bad at all food :-)

Last weekend I helped my friend Jesse sell Jell-O shots to benefit his Atlanta Cotillion campaign. It's tough work, but it's easier when the bar you're at gives you some support (even though just giving you an opportunity to sell is a tremendous help). I was thoroughly impressed with how much support we got from the entire staff. Servers, bartenders, managers, and entertainers. It was great and made the experience at lot more beneficial. I really appreciate their support of the community. They regularly host benefit nights for different people and organizations. Plus they give money to local charities to help with their neighborhood outreach. Burkhart's is more than just a bar in Midtown. It's a part of the neighborhood and I'm glad they're here.

I think this place is just the tops. And while I haven't had the food here -- I hear there's steaks for sale and free popcorn-- I've had puh-lenty of drinks and puh-lenty of fun at the drag shows here. Now, if you come here for one of the drag shows, be prepared for some drunk Buckhead Betties, or chicks on their bachelorette party, to push and shove ya, so they can right up close to the "stage." "Stage gets the Seinfeld quotations because it's not so much a stage as it is a space in the middle of the first floor where the queens perform. I would advise if you're tall, to stand behind shorties like me so that we can both see. (I don't think so hard to ask...) Anyway, this place gets like 5 stars for kitschy fun. If drag shows are your thing, I'm sure you'll have a blast. After 2 am, the place turns into a dance club. One more thing...the area where Burkhart's is like the Bermuda Triangle for gay entertainment (Mixx, Felix, Oscar's) so there's, like, no parking.

Food: 4/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Average: 4 I've been here at least 10 times within the three years I've been in Atlanta. I always have a good time here and there are always a good amount of people, but not too many to make moving around uncomfortable. A lot of big name drag queens come here, the dance competitions are fun, the food is better than expected for bar food, the karaoke nights and drag shows are a blast, and the best thing of all the gay bartenders are nice and not dick-heads like a lot of other gay bar bartenders. You know what I'm talking about, those bartenders that will serve the hot twink boys before they serve lesbians and the slightly less attractive gay men. This will always be a go-to spot for me and my friends.

SMOKING is back. They tried going smoke free earlier this year but the ashtrays are out again. And their customer base likes to burn it up....... I've never really liked this place, feels more like a small town gay bar with a suburban crowd. But it was fun to pop in now and then for the drag shows or other goings on. The smoke free experiment made it more tolerable. But seems the stinky clothes and hair are back for good unless the city bans smoking in bars outright (which most other big cities have done).

  • Heather N.

I love drag shows. Spectacle, sparkle, glamour, gloss, men showing women how it's done. The crowd is completely diverse, yes, there were some obnoxious drunk girls getting in the way of the dancers, but I guess that is a part of the whole experience. They got schooled by the hostess. I'd give them 5 if it was smoke-free. I might have to throw my clothes out. Cheers~

This is the second year I have celebrated my Birthday at Burkhart's, and let's just say I plan on being there again next year May, 2015. Me and my friends always have a great time, we enjoy the shows and just like being there to have fun.

My first time and I loved it! Definitely going back again. I was very over dressed. All the guys complimented my date on how fabulous she was.lol Next time I'll be prepared for a more laid back time.

The outdoor dining area is good for a date on a nice evening. New York strip steak was a great meal for the price. Service was good and he refilled the drinks three times during the meal. The location is large with 2 stories, outdoor dinning, three bars downstairs and dance floor, and a bar upstairs. If you cannot sit outside there is no good place to eat without having people standing around you drinking.

This place is the bomb diggity! although i may be able to pass for a drag queen, i actually came here with my awesome gay friend. He recommended the place and it is a definite high five moment... but it is a high five.... by Ninjas! My boyfriend is straight but he went along anyway (cuz yeah. hes a good guy like that behehehehe) Now, I stuck to my usual beer and I honestly dont know how much it was cuz I was busy having too much fun! Now, you know the place is bumpin when u do not care how much the check is at the end of the night! First of all, if you are straight and may walk Homophobe St., then this is not the place for you. If you cannot take a good joke from a drag queen, then this is not the place for you. If you have a tiny bladder, this is most definitely not the place for you!! The people that come here are good looking. I may have seen maybe 3 ugly people. But in a packed house? Thats an impressive number! LOL! The people are drunk and friendly! And if you are gay, then this is that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow my fabulousness! Only the pot is actually Martha Stewart, the gold is at the bottom of patron, and the rainbow? Whaa--? IN burkhart, you ARE the rainbow!! If you want to meet classy, funny, social, off the fah-heeezers folks then do, please, come by and check it out! Now, we went on a Friday night and they have a drag show. The drag queens were oh-so pretty! I mean my boyfriend who has never seen one (ahem.. hes from russia and this is all too new for him) he cannot believe they are not women! He did get hit on quite a few but ALL were very respective when he said he is straight and is with me... although, there was this guy from Egypt or Somalia or whatever (he changes his origin of birth) just introduced himself to us, and without even finishing his hellos and how are yous, automatically grabbed my boyfriend's hand.... and he was trying to be slick too!! bahahaha... My boyfriend just froze and I had to come to the rescue! I told mr. africa that my bf is straight and we had to walk away from him... lol ! It is most definitely one of the better times I have had going out! It was just a lot of fun and everyone is out to have fun and dammit! just go there and have fun!! Now... the only thing that is keeping me from giving it five stars is the fact that there is ONE STALL for the girl's bathroom and it is not too exclusive for girls so the line can be pretty backed up... and oh, parking is a beotch on friday nights and some people tend to take 2 spots on the lot so... grrrr.... bottom line: the atmosphere is high energy with a touch of class. Hmm... kinda like a mimosa... followed by a crispy wake up slap. IT. IS. FUN.

Hmm. So disgusting. Those who say they like it probably haven't been to many good places yet. The patio seems ok overall, though.

Probably the best bar I visited in Atlanta, very mixed crowd and cheap drinks. The drag shows are great and the crowd was very friendly and social each time I went. My only complaints are that the dance floor is too small and no one hardly dances after the shows, which was my point of going to the club. Also, the host are usually very rude, but that's the case in every gay bar. The eye candy was elusive here so if you want eye candy, they all flock at Blake's.

    (3)
  • Jerry T.

Ok...lets take the gay bar atmosphere out of the picture and only talk about the "restaurant" side of things. The food is pretty darn good. But that is only if you can place an order. The service is absolutely awful. It was not busy and after waiting more than 15 min for someone to take my order I asked another 'passing' waiter. He claimed he would send my waiter over. Well...that never happened. As a matter of fact I never saw my waiter. I left. It is unfortunate because I have been there at other times and got waited on in less than 15 minutes. I think it was more like 12.

    (3)
  • Jay C.

This place is the weirdest gay bar ever. Cute space but rude bartenders... Tried to get a drink at the bar and they told us we had to sit at a table and sent a waiter over ... Odd. I would find somewhere else.

A very fun place to spend a couple of hours on an afternoon or evening. Very fun drag shows, but caution: they can last 3 hours. But I have stayed for the whole thing at times! Has an upstairs, downstairs, separate bar & sitting & fun area toward the back, and a beautiful outdoor area also. My favorite place in Atlanta currently.

As a bar and nightclub goes Burkharts is tops ! Always great food and good drinks sitting on the patio is such a pleasure .been going there for manny many years and Palmer and Mary have done a nice job of upgrading the place over the years

I have lived here for 13 years - only been here a dozen or so times. This past Sunday I was there - service was HORRIFIC! It was far from busy - the 2 waiters that waited on us were useless - it was like pulling teeth to get the check then it was like a root-canal without novacane to pay it. Worst place ever -

What a great Place I love the atmosphere and such a great place to find a man. The Drag Shows are the best in the city, and the Food is outstanding!!! I was there last night for Karaoke and the crowd was very nice. Michael Jackson is the best manager, and very sweet. The bartenders are great and the drinks were strong. I will be back this weekend for the shows.

    (5)
  • Todd P.

Let's see. Jam packed on weekend nights, a bitch to find parking, but strong drinks, and amazing patio. Pretty standard fare for an Atlanta homo depot. But a 6'5" Amazon Drag Queen doing drop-to-the floor splits while lip synching Rihana? Priceless. Gotta love the GAY-T-L.

A wide variety of folks go to this pub, but it does cater to a majority of older (40+) white guys. the bartenders are friendly and do a nice pour. Miss Lauren deals a mean hand of Blackjack in the side bar. Well worth the visit to see her. the balcony upstairs can be a strange scene with all of the gaukers. Creepy even . . .

Fun place to go for a drink and a great show. Make sure you you see Anthony at the upstairs bar.

  • Nikki D.

I love Burkhart's! I'm a hetero female and I have come to this pub with all types of people and they always have a great time. The place is set up in lots of cozy rooms and it tends to be relatively low-key. Always some drama in a place like this but it is well tempered with more mature types. The drag show is always awesome! Late night dance club tends to be more shoving than I'm comfortable with. The bottled water is overpriced, not everybody wants alcohol for each and every drink. And there is ONE toilet for all the females. I understand this is a gay bar but what about us poor hags?

  • Rachel H.

Been here a few times for the drag show with my boys.. Loved it every time!! The place is a LOT bigger than it looks and the outside area is huge with little cabanas outside. There's a big upstairs too. They're having some sort of special for 99cent well drinks, not sure how long that'll be going on though. They weren't watered down either, my vodka soda's were nicely prepared with one of the hottest bartenders in Atlanta, Alex. :) Love the drag show and love the little bowls of popcorn they have all over the place.

  • S B.

Hated the smoke... I'm from California. Loved the unpretentious atmosphere. Loved the mix of patrons. Both young and old, with varying levels of "prettiness." Loved watching the drunk fools. Loved the wood paneling setting. Loved the drag queens. Liked the drinks. Not strong enough. Had a GREAT time.

Went to Burks for their annual costume contest, which was promoted as starting at midnight; however, after arriving we found out it wasn't starting until 1:00am. Disappointing! That was my only complaint of the evening because the drinks were strong and fab. The Burks team did a great job making preparations for a busy night by adding a cash bar outside and even adding a porta john outside-- big props for getting ahead of the game! They even had a super cute adorable kind of guy selling Monster Shots-- YUM (the guy and the shots). It was definitely good times.

The great thing about Burhart's Pub is that when you're there you don't feel like you've stepped onto the set of the movie "Mean Girls". People here staff and patrons alike are generally cool and make you feel welcome. If you've got friends and family visiting from out of town who don't mind trucker talk mixed with a good ol' gender bender drag show, this place on Saturday and Sunday nights will tickle your fancy. You'll laugh at the jokes and cry when you see the entertainer do the splits in the middle of their dance number wondering "how in the hell did he just do that? that has to hurt!" If going from 0 to 60 is your thing, you're in luck 'cause the bartenders tend to make drinks on the strong side here. Word to the wise, smoking is allowed in this establishment so wash your clothes when you get home, seriously.

I met my love many years ago... At Burkharts! It's a loud and somewhat entertaining pub style bar. There is a strong neighborhood feel about the place. The patio out back is always kept so very very well. They have two fire pits for the cold months, and fans for the hot months. I love a warm summer night back there with the canopy of trees overhead, and tall bamboo stands that sway in the wind. It's always been a special spot to me and my other half.

  • Colton G.

Big place with a great outdoor area out back, pool tables upstairs, a dance or drag show floor in the middle. I've been here for drinks (good) and steak (really good). No cover that I've seen and a pretty cool crowd.

  • Leigh N.

I went to the Mary Edith Pitts show this past Saturday night and it was absolutely fabulous! The show was funny and empowering, and the DJ played great dancing music afterwards. Being a straight female, sometimes the crowds in gay bars will make you feel uncomfortable (what is "she" doing here?)... but I loved it here because it was very laid-back. Everyone was friendly and the bartenders made great drinks (and strong!). There is no cover and parking is free :D *If you plan to see the show, my advice is to get there early so you can get a good spot to view.

Less pretentious people than Blakes, though the bartenders think they are the cream of the crop, think again trolls. Fun time though mediocre at best overall.

worst experience at a bar because the bartender was rude and overlooked us. He then claimed we didn't tip him. Who does that?! i will not be back . never have i experienced such rudeness before.

i love burkhart's! this is the usual starting point for any evening out with my boys, although a lot of the time we never make it beyond here. i love, love, love the patio when it's warm out! Bar staff is super nice, and I'm glad they have stopped referring to me as "the chick who puked all in the corner last Halloween" ;)

Did not care for it. Was def expecting more for such a highly rated bar. I used to go out in gay bars a lto with by best gay friend. I've see great Gay shows, this was def not one of them. There is NO stage, most of the drag queen are actually transsexuals which, to me defies the purpose because if technically they are woman, so how is that a drag? The best entertainment came from people watching not fromt he drag show or the host which was not funny at all. In a nutshell, this drag show was a drag... It was very crowded ("older crowd", 35+ it looked like, mostly gay men, some lesbians and some heteros) and small and I just didnt like the experience of the "throwing of the money" on the drag queens think, especially since they all stop their singing and dancing to get it...It's distracting. Also, I have NEVER, EVER been in a gay bar where no one was dancing!!! So counter intuitive! will not go back BUT the drink were strong and everyone was nice (which is why I went for 2 stars)

  • Celina L.

Come down here if you wanna see some sexiiness. And by sexiiness, I mean the drag show! I don't know, but there is something about watching someone that's as big as the entrance door dropping it like it's hot wearing a skimpy dress that gets my blood boiling. That's not the only thing. My drinks are always prepared strong, but still had some flavor with it. And the crowd isn't stuck up like they are at Blakes.

My other half and I wanted to learn how to play craps, so we decided to have dinner at Burkhart's before our gambling lesson. I had seen other people eat here before, but I hadn't tried the food. I was pleasantly surprised. I had steak and my other half had the fried shrimp. They were both really good and cheap. We both ate for under $20. We probably won't make it a regular dining spot, but if you want a quick bite before the Armorettes, it's definitely a viable alternative.

  • Chip P.

Blake's for older people? I don't know. I use to come here when I was first coming out of the closet. It was a difficult time in my life. But, the drag queens and staff here made me feel I belonged and supported me. That was many years ago. And, even though I have lost a few friends along the way due to AIDS, Cancer, Car wreck, or Heart Failure I walk in and I feel they are still with me. The corners where we were crammed and laughed. Or, the back patio where I did some strange discretion. Or perhaps the show where we tore pieces of bar napkins and showered the people below to the song "Looking for that Country." Burkharts is the place where the Backstreets generation can still stop in and feel young. So, NO! This is not Blake's for older people it's Burkhart's the same as it ever was and still surviving based on the support of the community. Young and old.

Jesus wept, honey...have some communal popcorn! Burkharts is just a damn good time I don't care who you are...I've never had a bad experience here. The bartenders are always super attentive and sweet; I always get a smile with my drink and I love watching the drag shows! I'd rather go here for a night out than anywhere else in Atlanta because I feel welcome and safe - I don't have to worry about being outnumbered by assholes and skanks. Everyone gets along with each other and it's just a really warm environment. You just want to hug everyone! And it's one of the few spots left where you can smoke inside, enjoy cheap drinks, and get a handful of popcorn to nomnomnom!

  • Clarissa J N.

This bar is fantastic. I have only been there late-night for the show so I can't speak to the outdoor seating, etc. but I can say that the bartenders were great, drinks are reasonable, the crowd is not pretentious and the show was to die for!

    (5)
  • Brandon C.

My first time here; the banter between the hosts was better than the actual drag show itself but I'll definitely give it a second chance. Burkhart's is a good size, with two bars downstairs and one upstairs, a great patio outside and apparently good food. I give it 3 stars because of the drag show (it was a Sunday) but I've seen better, higher-energy shows. One downside is the fact that you're allowed to smoke inside, who likes to leave a bar/club smelling of smoke?

Berkharts is great bar. I love this place and I have many, many reasons. On the weekdays this place has some cabaret shows and a few days of karaoke and that is perfect for me. I have a very busy schedule and have little time to just relax. So during the week this place is fun to go and sit in the patio or bar and enjoy a cocktail or two without really having to worry about 'going all out' and 'partying' to hard. I like a bar that feels like the neighborhood bar like Cheers where you can go in and just relax. This place is it for me in Atlanta. I know the bartenders, managers, etc and they all give great service and greet you when you walk in the door or if they see you walking around. On the weekends this place is usually packed. The crowd is diverse in its own way and offers decent beats throughout the night. Also, they are now offering $1 drink specials on specific days of particular types of alcohol so be sure to ask one of the employees there. The parking lot is a little small because it is shared by other neighboring bars but, Ansley Mall has ample parking at walking distance. A lot of people say Burkharts is full of old people. I don't think so at all. It is full of a variety of different people like every other bar in this city. It is just a different atmosphere. Overall! No complaints.

Go see the Armorettes here. They are the funniest camp drag act I have ever seen. Burkharts is a great place to go have a drink with friends. The space is actually really large including the patio area. The crowd is always pretty diverse but usually more mature (and I really don't mean old when I say that). They apparently serve food, but I've never tried it. It's just a good space to hang out.

  • Sylvia Y.

i love the inside of this bar, the outside of the bar, the upstairs, etc. this place is wonderful. the outside was perfect for drinking and catching up, and smoking, though i am not a smoker. the upstairs was really neat to watch everyone walk in and out and sing their favorite tunes. i wouldn't know how to get here from the other bar, but i sure am glad an atlanta native took us here. they had karaoke which was really fun to watch from upstairs. this place was the most laid back bar i've been to. i had a lot of fun here with my friends and look forward to coming back here to check out some of the regulars belting out their fav. tunes.

I enjoy Burkhart's on occasion but find the clientele interesting. The parking lot is always full of cars with fun counties like Newton, Harralson, etc. listed on them which is pretty indicative of most of the clientele's origins as well. I'm sure some locals go there but maybe they just haven't registered their cars in metro Atlanta yet. Bartenders are excellent. Shows are excellent. Patio is wonderful in the summertime.

  • Michael B.

Burkhart's is definitely the best bar to go to. The crowd at Burkhart's is very friendly and aren't pretentious and snobbish like most of the guys are at Blakes. The bartender's are the BEST and make the best drinks. I am there basically every Saturday night having a blast. The Armorettes are awesome. I love me some Mary Edith Pitts. The money they raise benefits local HIV and AIDS organizations. This is definitely my bar of choice.

Burkhart's is a winner if you go here for Happy Hour! The staff are always nice, the foods are reasonable, and the drinks are always stiff. The gay dudes here were always friendly. My usual were the 9 oz steak with fries and gravy for $6 bucks! My fav Happy Hour spot in Hot-lanta.

I find that we usually end up here when we just want to hang out and play pool, or just chill. The bar has a definitely more mature crowd, which is nice, because it attracts all types. Karaoke with Kitty Le Claw can be lots of fun, and the drag there is always hilarious. The music is good, the step up is pretty neat (it almost looks like an old western saloon), and there is a back patio for those that like to be outdoors. It can get a bit smoky, but nothing a southerner shouldn't already be used to. Just do me one favor, please don't eat the popcorn! Yuck!

    (4)
  • Zach W.

The drinks are poured heavy, see scooter for Happy Hour or Chancey/Chris/Adam/ Anthony for Dinner Hour...Always a laugh, varied crowd, generally speaking an older crowd during the early hours, younger crowd much later, lots of fun. Varying levels of beauty, and the pretentiousness is left at the door. The smoke is a bit much, I moved to Atlanta from California, but overall a great experience.

  • Lindsey H.

I ended up at Burkharts with a group of friends after my birthday one year. From what I remember it was a pretty decent place and all the people were really cool. There was a drag show that night that was pretty kickass and the drinks are pretty cheap. Yay Burkharts!

    (3)
  • Flip C.

Another one to file under Generic Gay Bar. Only unlike Blake's this one usually has generic average joes. Oh, and I made the mistake of eating the popcorn. I'm going to throw up now...

    (2)
  • Rick H.

Burkhart's is more of an older crowd, but I definitely recommend checking out Sunday night's Armorettes show. it's full of "camp" drag which, althoughproblematic at times b/c it plays on Black and white trash stereotypes, is still pretty hilarious. it starts at 9 PM but if you want to get a good view, i suggest getting there by 8:30 b/c it's a very small space where the performing goes on. the rest of the space is pretty big including an outdoors patio where a psychic lady hangs out. there's Karaoke some nights too but that you can find anywhere. Armorettes is unique to Atlanta, and all the money the Armorettes raise from tips goes directly to AIDS service providers. they've raised like over 1.2 million dollars since opening up the show about 10 years ago.
